FISA REAUTHORIZATION ALERT!!

 

“For the past several years no corrective action taken by the intelligence community has improved the abuses outlined by the FISA court.  The sketchy programs, and abuse therein, needs more public attention.

 

However, there is now a confluence of events highlighting a likelihood congress and the intelligence apparatus writ large want to reauthorize the FISA surveillance and collection authorities without further sunlight and without public input. Here’s what’s going on…

 

It appears the DOJ is trying to get the FISA reauthorization passed before the FISC declassifies the corrective action outlined from the prior court order.  This response would also include information about the “sequestering” of evidence gathered as a result of the now admitted fraudulent and misrepresented information within the FISA applications.

 

With that in mind, it is NOT accidental the Wall Street Journal publishes an article today about AG Barr’s position on FISA reauthorization.   The White House wants structural reform; it appears the DOJ and FBI want considerably less than that.

 

…With the terminal deadline for FISA reauthorization rapidly approaching; and with serious abuses identified within the system of the FISA court, specifically as they pertain to the targeting of American citizens; there have been no public hearings or congressional discussions about the FISA process and the outlined fourth amendment violations.”

Mystery Chinese ship to Karachi, 5 indicted in US show Pakistan’s nuclear racket is alive

 

The seizure shows India has made great progress in tracking ships using technologies like Automatic Identification Systems.

 

In January this year, five men were indicted in the US for operating an international procurement racket that serviced at least two Pakistani government entities considered a threat to US national security. Even more recently, Indian customs officials detained a Chinese ship bound for Karachi, carrying dual-use equipment. That means it could be destined for either civilian use or military purposes.

 

Both these developments come at a time when the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) plenary meeting in Paris is to decide whether Pakistan will remain on the ‘Grey List’ in terms of risks to the international financial system. The assessment is not limited to terror finance alone. The FATF also concerns itself with the financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and on this parameter, Pakistan is only ‘partially compliant’, at a time when rumours of Turkey-Pakistani nuclear cooperation are resurfacing.

The US crackdown

 

The proliferation ring unearthed by US officials seemed to have been operating through front companies in Hong Kong, Canada, the UK and the US. Of the five indicted, one is a resident of Pakistan, two are from Canada and one each from Hong Kong and the UK. Three others linked to the case are Pakistani citizens.

 

The network seems to have been a family concern, run by a man named Md Kamran Wali. The group supplied the Advanced Engineering Research Organisation (AERO) and the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) with goods that they could not legally procure as sanctioned entities.

 

The modus operandi was fairly simple. Kamran’s offices in Rawalpindi, Karachi (in Defence Housing Authority) and at an upmarket address in Islamabad, received the orders, which was then passed on to front companies outside Pakistan for sourcing. The listing provided by the District Court, New Hampshire, describes the set-up as a far-flung enterprise, sourcing satellite communication systems and emulators.

 

According to data from Wikileaks, a group of US officials who earlier visited its office in Wah found that it was co-located inside the top-secret Air Weapons Complex — an establishment that designs all airborne platforms for the Pakistani Air Force, including for its newest thrust area, the armed unmanned aerial vehicle. AERO is staffed by retired Air Force officers, who in this instance, were looking for technology to replace defective Chinese equipment. Put into the Entity List of the US Commerce Department in 2014, AERO has now come again into the limelight, for not just violating US laws, but also as a potential threat to the “delicate balance of power among nations within the region.”

 

Whatever equipment it was, it was certainly something the Pakistanis could not get from China in spite of their close defence relationship.

 

A third company is also mentioned. The Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC), Taxila, wanted Electro-Magnetic and Radio Frequency shielding, which was shown on paper as destined for MRI rooms in hospitals. The HMC was transferred to the Special Projects Division and the PAEC in 2016. While the whole case may have merited only a few pages of print space, it is one that would have involved months of patient intelligence gathering. This is intelligence cooperation at its best.

Slim to Break Mexico Stock Drought With $1.4 Billion Sale

 

(Bloomberg) – Billionaire Carlos Slim’s construction company Promotora del Desarrollo de America Latina is planning the biggest public stock offering Mexico has seen in almost two years.

 

The company, known as Promotora Ideal, will sell 25.8 billion pesos ($1.4 billion) worth of shares in a Fibra E, a Mexican REIT-like structure that invests in infrastructure projects, according to a filing to Mexico’s stock exchange.

 

The sale is led by two Canadian funds owned by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, who bought a stake in Promotora Ideal’s parent company. The funds will retain small stakes in the Fibra E and Promotora Ideal will administer the Fibra E after it is issued. A Slim spokesman and spokespeople for the Canadian funds did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

 

Juan Rich, head of research at Mexican brokerage Ve por Mas, said the listing could draw a lot of interest since Mexican benchmark interest rates are expected to keep falling, which boosts the appeal of the dividend yields of REIT-like investments. “It is a good time to list a Fibra,” Rich said. Slim’s Telesites, which own telecommunications towers, said earlier this month it was also exploring issuing a Fibra, but the company has not set a date or provided further details. The Ideal offering is set to break a long dry spell in Mexican markets and is the first Fibra E to be listed since June 2018, when Administrador Fibraestructura raised $298 million. It is also the biggest offering in the country since Mexico City’s planned new airport project sold $1.5 billion in stock in a March 2018 IPO. Uncertainty has surrounded the Mexican capital markets since the airport project was canceled by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador just seven months after the IPO. Carlos Slim’s companies had major contracts with the airport project, and the pension fund run by his bank, Grupo Financiero Inbursa, was a top investor in the airport Fibra. Sluggish economic growth and declining investment have also contributed to Mexico’s listing shortage. Ideal’s listing will take place at some point this year, and Casa de Bolsa Credit Suisse will be the bookrunner.

I took time to ponder our situation. To attemt to grasp the reality of it all. I, not having ever expeienced the harsh reality of combat,

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The Rocky River Fire Department is on the scene of a massive structure fire.

The fire broke out Sunday evening at an unoccupied condominium project under construction on Hilliard Boulevard between Wooster Road and Valley View Drive, according to the Rocky River Fire Department.

Interstate 90 lanes were shut down in both directions but have since reopened, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

High winds caused ash to be blown across I-90, the Rocky River Fire Department said.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

 

Authorities have shut off the power in the area and the American Red Cross has been notified, according to city officials.

The Don Umerley Civic Center located at 21016 Hilliard Blvd. has been opened for residents in the area, police said.

Police confirmed the fire has spread to at least one other building.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Dominion Energy was called to the scene after rescue crews reported the smell of gas. Dominion Energy crews say they did not find natural gas, they found propane.

The condo project was new construction and was nearly completely framed before it caught fire Sunday, according to city officials.

Smoke from the fire showed up on radar from Rocky River, according to News 5 meteorologist Trent Magill.

Fire crews are asking the public to avoid the area.

Yes it does, may give me pause on selling, but I don’t want to take another big hit while I’m up.

 

My strategy is when I’m up but I see a trend of three days or more in the wrong direction I move out of the investment before I have a loss, wait and see if a new trend starts and buy back in.

 

I think the Coronavirus is finally beginning to show its affect on the tech stocks which I’m highly invested in. Time is ripe to bail out.

Against the backdrop of a then pending OIG FISA report, in December of 2019 buried deep in the congressional budget Continuing Resolution (CR) was a short-term extension to reauthorize the FISA “business records provision”, the “roving wiretap” provision, the “lone wolf” provision, and the more controversial bulk metadata provisions [Call Detail Records (CDR)], all parts of the Patriot Act.

 

As a result of the FISA CR inclusion the terminal deadline was pushed to March 15, 2020:

 

FISA Court judges Rosemary Collyer (declassified 2017) and James Boasberg (declassified 2019) both identified issues with the NSA bulk database collection program being exploited for unauthorized reasons. For the past several years no corrective action taken by the intelligence community has improved the abuses outlined by the FISA court. The sketchy programs, and abuse therein, needs more public attention.

 

However, there is now a confluence of events highlighting a likelihood congress and the intelligence apparatus writ large want to reauthorize the FISA surveillance and collection authorities without further sunlight and without public input. Here’s what’s going on

 

AG Bill Barr is scheduled to meet with key Senators next week. While the media are attributing and framing the meeting toward Trump activity, it is more than likely one key purpose of the upcoming meeting is AG Barr advocating for quiet FISA renewal.

 

Keep in mind the deadline for the DOJ to respond to the FISA court about the abusive intelligence practices identified in the Horowitz report was February 5th, more than two weeks ago. The responses from the DOJ and FBI have not been made public.

Former DNI ‘Deep State Dan’ Coats Created Election Security Position – Same Person Who Just Lied and Claimed Russia Was Helping Trump

 

Former Director of National Intelligence created a special position before leaving office in July 2019. Coats, who was a card carrying member of the Deep State, was a critic of the President and did a horrible job of seeking the truth during the sham and criminal Mueller Investigation.

 

CBS reported in July about Coats leaving office [emphasis added]:

 

In his resignation letter, dated July 28, Coats, 76, thanked the president for the opportunity to serve as DNI, which he called a “distinct privilege.”

 

“I have overseen the selection of new, extremely capable leaders across the IC, and within the ODNI, have transformed its focus, structure, and integration efforts to ensure you have the best, most timely, and unbiased intelligence possible,” Coats wrote. “As we have previously discussed, I believe it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life. Therefore, I hereby submit to you my resignation effective August 15, 2019.”

 

Earlier this month Coats announced the creation of a new senior-level position to coordinate election security efforts across the intelligence community. Known as the election threats executive, the new position is responsible for coordinating “all election security activities, initiatives, and programs.”

 

The president’s tweet ended months of speculation that Mr. Coats would either soon depart or be ousted from his role. Though he was among the longest-serving national security officials in the president’s cabinet, Coats’ public statements on behalf of the intelligence community occasionally ran contrary to Mr. Trump’s preferred policy outcomes, stoking the president’s ire.

 

At the annual Worldwide Threats hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee in January, Coats said North Korea would “seek to retain” its nuclear program, though the president had months ago declared it “no longer” posed a nuclear threat. He said Iran was continuing to abide by the terms of the nuclear deal from which president Trump had withdrawn the U.S. in 2018. Coats also said ISIS’ pervasive ideology meant it would continue to pose a threat, though the president had recently declared the terror group “defeated” and ordered the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria.

 

After the January hearing, President Trump tweeted that “The Intelligence People” were “wrong” and should “go back to school.”

 

Coats created the Election Security position shortly before he stepped down from his position as DNI. He did this as the Ukrainian scandal started in the House. I'm from there. Didn't like it much. I like to hike and explore though. All of the land in Texas is bought up. Very little public land. I found a littel honey hole up near Bangor in Washington. Across the water from Seattle and since it's all mil bases over here it's mostly Conservatives. Half this state is public land, close to a rain forest, and good hunting and fishing. Pritzker spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh released the following statement Thursday afternoon: “The governor has said he believes the former governor is in prison, where he belongs. The president should instead focus his attention on the critical issues facing this country, like gun safety.”

 

Trump said Thursday he’s “thinking very seriously” about commuting Blagojevich’s sentence on corruption charges, claiming the former governor’s crimes amounted to no more than “braggadocio” and ill-advised talk on the phone.

 

Blagojevich has served more than seven years of his 14-year sentence, following his 2011 conviction for, among other things, trying to sell an appointment to the U.S. Senate seat once held by Barack Obama before he was elected president in 2008.

 

While campaigning for governor in 2018, Pritzker briefly became the subject of controversy over a phone call between him and Blagojevich nearly a decade earlier. The call was recorded on an FBI wiretap.

 

Pritzker has said he pushed for Blagojevich to appoint Secretary of State Jesse White to fill Barack Obama’s old Senate seat in 2008. In the call, he described Illinois Senate President Emil Jones – also seen at the time as a possible Obama successor – as “crass.”

 

He also said, if Blagojevich were forced to pick an African-American to replace Obama in the Senate, Jesse White would be the “least offensive” pick.

Update: Sunday, February 23, 2020; 8:38 AM: There are some who have commented that I should not have published Allison Mack’s address.

 

Actually, the address was first published by the US Government for all to see on Pacer.gov. I am reporting on a publicly available document.

 

If you have a complaint about Mack’s address being made public, you should register your complaint to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, or to Mack’s lawyers who chose not to make a motion to have the document with her address sealed.

 

As for stalkers, if someone wanted to stalk Mack, they can easily find her address online. Simple online records searches revealed the same address. I found it in less than 3 minutes. As for photos of her house, they came from Google Maps, which anyone can find who has access to the internet and if they don’t have access to the internet, they won’t be reading this post.

 

In addition, but for the good lawyers she had, who crafted a most fortunate plea deal for her, Mack would have been tried and likely convicted of sex trafficking, which would have put her in prison for years. When she got out, she would have been required to register as a sex offender. Once registered as a sex offender, her address would be published wherever she lived. All sex offenders’ addresses are published.

 

Finally, I have published her address in the past, when she lived in Knox Woods and in Brooklyn. I have also published the addresses of Nancy Salzman, Lauren Salzman and most of the Nxivm leaders. I used to regularly publish Keith Raniere’s address. Nothing has happened to any of these people [other than they were arrested and convicted].

 

Since the arrest of Raniere and Mack, I have been generally following guidelines set by the courts. For example, in the trial of Raniere, if a victim’s first name only was used, that’s what I used in reporting, even when I knew the last name. In the civil lawsuit, I am again following the lead of the court.

Remember Rod Blagojevich — the former Democratic governor of Illinois, now a federal prisoner on corruption charges and a musician behind bars? He's in the news again today after the Chicago Tribune unearthed a recording of wiretapped conversations between him and J.B. Pritzker, a businessman and one of the current Democratic candidates for governor.

 

Among the topics in the conversations, which occurred in late 2008: Blagojevich's deep resentment for Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, who had just been elected president. Blagojevich felt Obama had attached his name to measures in Illinois that Blagojevich wanted more credit for.

 

"This fucking Obama ran on my record, okay?" Blagojevich says in one of the conversations. "He said he brought healthcare to kids. You know what I'm saying? He voted for it [as a state senator]. You know, he's talking about a capital bill and spending on healthcare for working families."

 

Pritzker had initiated the discussions with Blagojevich to talk about the possibility that state Treasurer Alexei Giannoulias might be appointed to a post in the impending Obama administration. It never did end up happening (Giannoulias would later run for Senate in 2010 and lose), but if it had, Pritzker was interested in being appointed to replace him as treasurer. Blagojevich reacted favorably to the idea, calling it "interesting." Pritzker said he did not really want to be appointed to Obama's soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat, but that it "makes political sense for both of us" to make him treasurer.

 

Pritzker also suggested in one conversation that perhaps Blagojevich should appoint Valerie Jarrett to Obama's Senate seat, but only if he thought he'd get a presidential appointment for it — an unlikely scenario, given the federal investigation that was already consuming Blagojevich and making headlines at that point. Blagojevich's downfall ultimately came from his desire to trade the vacant Senate seat for something valuable to himself.

 

In one of the recorded conversations excerpted by the Tribune, Pritzker expressed concern that his political contributions to Blagojevich might become an issue if Blagojevich were to appoint him. The governor was not worried at all.

 

"Total non-issue," said Blagojevich, who deftly segued into a request for political contributions. "First of all, you give money to everyone, like [Attorney General] Lisa Madigan, okay?" he said. "Which, incidentally, if you can do for me what you did for her before the end of the year, can you think about that?"

 

Pritzker said he couldn't do it while potential appointments were pending, but added, "but I hear you."

 

Blagojevich went on to suggest that Pritzker could also raise money from him among his connections in the business community. "If we go in that direction, though, if that does happen, I mean, there's some other people that can help us that you know. If you feel skittish about that, which I believe you shouldn't …"

 

"Yeah, I don't think we should even talk about that, but I understand what you're saying," Pritzker said.

 

Blagojevich was also pretty confident that the corruption case against him would not amount to anything. "It'll just fade away," he said. In fact, he would be impeached by a unanimous vote of the state legislature in less than two months' time, and sentenced to 13 years in prison in December 2011.

 

The recording contains a few other fun nuggets. At one point, in discussing the potential benefits of appointing Pritzker as treasurer, Blagojevich mentioned that he could play up the candidate's connection to the banking industry. Pritzker discouraged this, because Superior Bank had failed under the stewardship of his sister, Penny.

 

"She was chairman of the bank," Pritzker explained in mentioning its collapse. "It had subprime loans. I mean, bad stuff."

 

Penny Pritzker was subsequently appointed Secretary of Commerce by President Obama.

 

"Superior Bank turned out to be an inferior bank," Blagojevich quipped.
