Smithfield pork plant latest to close amid coronavirus, raising more concerns about U.S. food supply

Smithfield Foods has closed a pork-processing plant in South Dakota, after hundreds of employees tested positive for the coronavirus, raising concerns about the county’s food supply. The Virginia-based company made the announcement Sunday about its Sioux Falls plant – after the mayor and GOP Gov. Kristi Noem urged Smithfield to close the plant for 14 days, according to the Associated Press.

The Sioux Falls plant is one of the largest pork processing plants in the country. The Agriculture Department says it has yet to find evidence that the virus can be transmitted through food. But the closure of the Smithfield plant and other similar ones – including a Tyson Foods facility in Iowa – is raising concerns about the U.S. food supply as workers continue to test positive for the virus. “The closure of this facility, combined with a growing list of other protein plants that have shuttered across our industry, is pushing our country perilously close to the edge in terms of our meat supply,” Smithfield president and CEO Kenneth Sullivan said in a statement, according to the wire service. “It is impossible to keep our grocery stores stocked if our plants are not running. These facility closures will also have severe, perhaps disastrous, repercussions for many in the supply chain, first and foremost our nation’s livestock farmers.”

Amazon is hiring an additional 75,000 workers at its facilities, on top of the 100,000 new positions it created last month, the company said Monday.

In March, the company said it would hire additional warehouse and delivery workers across the country amid a surge in online shopping during the coronavirus outbreak. Are Q and Austin Steinbart One and the Same?

First, full disclosure, I have followed the TheGreatAwakening, QAnon, etc. phenom since the beginning in November of 2017. I have watched most of the bigger name Q decoders and their takes on what Q is ‘actually’ saying.

That being said, I have made few public statements on Q. I gained most of my current followers from my work, now almost entirely wiped from the net, with America First Media and Matt Couch on the independent investigation into the murder of DNC employee Seth Rich in 2016.

The reason I bring up my previous work now is so I can draw some parallels to what is happening in the QAnon follower community since a young man named Austin Steinbart who, in case you haven’t heard, claims to be Q in the flesh.

Not surprising, they have met his claims with more than simple skepticism. They have attacked, harassed, and threatened Steinbart but it isn’t only him. The attacks spread to anyone who supports Austin or even so much as suggests keeping an open mind to the possibility of his claims being true.

I should clarify my position on Q first. Yes, I believe there is a military intelligence operation going on and QAnon is a real ‘thing’. There is more than sufficient evidence to support this claim but you will have to research and decide for yourself. This is MY conclusion.

Do I think Austin Steinbart is actually Q himself? I think it is highly probable. This will not be a popular opinion but here’s the point… so what? It’s my opinion. Why are the devoted Q Believers going after people who might share this opinion? One part of the whole Q philosophy which gave the movement its credibility has been the consistent message of thinking and researching for yourself, drawing your own conclusions, essentially, not turning into a cult mentality.

It’s ironic a movement who mocks the mob mentality of people who blindly follow the mainstream media, believing anything and everything told to them by the talking heads, is now mocking people for not following their interpretations of the Q posts on the boards. Yes, plural, boards but more on that later.

Although I have followed many of the big Q names, I have never bought into the concept of any of them having made the correct interpretations of any or all of the Q posts. I have agreed with many interpretations but I have disagreed with just as many, if not more. It occurred to me quite early on Q was not only posting to anons but to his/their enemies and their own people. Believing this, I found many interpretations to be reaching in textual gymnastics to make something fit into a narrative which may not be correct.

One reason America First Media and the many volunteers who have contributed interpretations of found evidence is we rarely, if ever, agree 100% with each other unless we have a documented, verifiable fact in front of us. It is easier to accept and become an echo chamber than to follow your gut and risk sounding like an idiot because you have a different interpretation of what a set of circumstances and evidence could mean.

Although we did not all agree over many things, we always gave each other the opportunity to present arguments without judgement based on everybody’s sincerity to the cause.

Seeing a group of people who were supposed to be about unity and WWG1WGA (Where We Go One We Go All) completely jump to the obvious conclusion, overlooking the message of research, think outside of the box, and keep an open mind turn on those who were actually practicing the messages allowed me to see exactly why Q might have used this approach instead. In fact, from the context of ‘what would I do’, I could see myself doing the same for the purpose of humbling some Q celebs.

So back to the question of does it matter if Austin Steinbart isn’t Q? No, not really. If Steinbart turns out to be an imposter, the flaw in the current QAnon platform has been exposed and you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.

For something as complex as the QAnon military intelligence operation to be successful, it cannot have individual Q influencers who aren’t willing to adapt to the progression needed to reach a mainstream audience. Neither can the movement tolerate infighting going against everything the message is supposed to be about. Influencers blocking, attacking, ridiculing, and harassing others who are trying to keep an open mind.

So how will we ever know the truth? Well, Austin Steinbart has actually given a solid date for an upcoming event, April 5th, 2020, claiming Greenland, yes, the country, will either be sold to the U.S. or something will happen to the monarchy. Steinbart used the term ‘Romanovsky them’. Not too subtle. And he guarantees it.

Steinbart made this claim at the beginning of March 2020. Why wouldn’t the Q people with the most to lose reputation-wise keep an open mind and wait for the proof? Hell, just say, “I’m not going to comment and reserve judgement until April 5th.” Why come out vehemently against Steinbart and other Q followers who entertain this very wait and see attitude?

Trump: Obama Hasn't Endorsed Biden Because 'He Knows Something That You Don't Know

President Donald Trump asserted on Wednesday the reason former President Barack Obama hasn’t endorsed his former vice president, Joe Biden, is because the 44th commander in chief “knows something.”

The context of Trump’s remarks during the daily coronavirus task force briefing was a question regarding Sen. Bernie Sanders’ announcement earlier in the day that he was suspending his presidential campaign but would hold on to his delegates and seek to win more in the upcoming primary contests.

“Now, is he dropping out or not?” Trump asked. “That’s not dropping out. When you keep your delegates and then you want more delegates before you get to the convention, that’s a weird deal going on there. I don’t know what’s happening.”

The president then noted that Obama has yet to endorse Biden.

“And I don’t know why President Obama hasn’t supported Joe Biden a long time ago,” Trump said.

“There is something he feels is wrong. Why isn’t — he’ll come out. I’m sure he’s got to come out at some point because he certainly doesn’t want to see me for four more years.”

The president continued, suggesting there is a reason Obama hasn’t endorsed Biden, which he felt he knew, but the reporters were not dialed in on yet.

“He knows something that you don’t know, that I think I know, but you don’t know. So it’ll be interesting,” Trump said, referring to Obama.

Coronavirus News: Disney World Furloughs 43,000 Union Workers As Parks Remain Closed

As Disney's (DIS) parks remain closed due to the coronavirus, the entertainment company will reportedly furlough 43,000 union workers, effective Sunday.

According to the Services Trade Council Union, Disney will pay 100% of health insurance for the affected workers for up to 12 months. Less than 200 workers will remain working for Disney during the furlough period.

"We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the Service Trades Council Union that will maintain members’ health insurance benefits coverage, educational support and additional employee assistance programs during a temporary furlough effective April 19," Walt Disney Resort told CNBC. "This agreement provides an easier return to work when our community recovers from the impact of COVID-19. We are grateful to have worked together in good faith to help our Cast Members navigate these unprecedented times."

A few weeks earlier, Disney also furloughed some non-union workers at its theme parks in the U.S. The company also stopped collecting payments for its annual park passes. According to the news outlet, the company has about 177,000 cast members, including workers in its theme parks and retail locations.

Disney closed its theme parks around the world infinitely after large gatherings were restricted to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Its theme parks in Asia were closed in February with its parks in the U.S. and Paris closed in March.

Because of the impact that the coronavirus is having on Disney and its employees, Bob Iger, executive chairman of the company, will not collect a salary while CEO Bob Chapek will take a 50% pay cut.

Shares of Disney stock were down 4.39% as of 10:27 a.m. EDT on Monday.

Civil Liberties Group Pushes HUD to Stop Confiscation of Bibles in Public Housing

Attorneys with the Americans for Civil Liberty and Justice (ACLJ) filed comments with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Monday urging officials there to support a proposed rule to stop public housing managers from confiscating Bibles and other religious literature from their facilities.

“We believe the rule should be implemented fully as the department has proposed,” ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow said in an April 13 letter to HUD made available to The Epoch Times.

The proposed rule is entitled the “Equal Participation of Faith-Based Organizations in HUD Programs and Activities: Implementation of Executive Order 13831.”

Amazon Puts New Grocery Customers On A Wait-List As Demand Continues To Grow

Amazon (AMZN) is now limiting the number of new grocery customers it is accepting, with an invitation-only process that will help it prioritize orders for its existing customers during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the company, it is temporarily asking new Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market delivery and pickup customers to sign up for an invitation to use its online grocery service because it is seeing increasing capacity each week.

The company said it is releasing new delivery windows each day and will invite new customers when there is availability to shop. The wait-list started on Monday while the company works to add more capacity each week as demand for groceries grows.

Amazon has also increased the number of Whole Foods Market stores that now offer grocery pickup to 150 locations, up from the 80 stores that previously offered the service. Amazon also said it will increase the number of stores further in the coming weeks.

The e-commerce giant has hired 100,000 employees in recent weeks to help with the added demand it is experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of these workers are helping with grocery demand with plans to add 75,000 more workers to help facilitate Amazon orders further.

Amazon also said that some of its Whole Foods Market stores will now have reduced hours so employees can focus on fulfilling online grocery orders quicker.

“While we have increased order capacity by more than 60 percent due to COVID-19, we still expect the combination of restricted capacity due to social distancing and customer demand will continue to make finding available delivery windows challenging for customers,” Amazon said in a statement.

“To help, in the coming weeks, we will launch a new feature that will allow customers to secure time to shop. This feature will give delivery customers a virtual “place in line” and will allow us to distribute the delivery windows on a first come, first served basis. Simultaneously, we will continue to add capacity as swiftly as possible.”

Shares of Amazon stock were up 4.62% as of 12:00 p.m. EDT on Monday.

Governor Ralph Northam Repeals Virginia Voter ID Laws, Expands Early Voting Programs

KKK-Blackface Governor Ralph Northam (D) on Monday signed sweeping legislation repealing voter ID laws and expanded early voting programs.

Northam signed legislation allowing early voting 45 days prior to an election without even stating an excuse.

Voters used to have to provide a reason for absentee voting from an approved list why they were unable to vote on Election Day.

House Bill 19 and Senate Bill 65, remove the requirement that voters show a photo ID prior to casting a ballot.

“Voter ID laws disenfranchise individuals who may not have access to photo identification, and disproportionately impact low-income individuals, racial and ethnic minorities, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities,” the legislation sponsored by Delegate Joe Lindsey and Senator Mamie Locke read.

Northam also declared Election Day a holiday and he had to repeal another existing holiday in order to maintain the same number of state holidays.

Over the next eight months we'll see hundreds of horse-race polls between President Donald Trump and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Here's a tip. Don't pay too much attention. The big miss we saw in 2016 can happen again—the coronavirus pandemic could make this election more unpredictable—and there's only so much pollsters can do about it.

Leading up to the last election, President Trump dismissed polls unfavorable to him as fake news. He was right. Polls missed big in 2016. Pollsters believe they know what went wrong and have fixed it. After the 2018 midterm elections, the industry declared victory when pundits using polling data called most races correctly. Harry Enten of CNN trumpeted, "2018 was a very good year for polls." Really? Many of the contests were in deep red or blue areas where the outcome was never in doubt. And there were still some big misses. Polls again underestimated Republicans in a handful of states including Florida and, as in 2016, those misses were enough to result in narrow wins in important races. In all, only 80 percent of polls showed the eventual winners leading. That sounds good, but take out the no-brainers, and the hit rate is more like 50–50—in other words, a coin flip.

So far in 2020, poll performance is mixed. Polls missed in South Carolina. They said Biden was ahead by an average of 15 percentage points and he won by 28 percentage points, although perhaps that's understandable given the rapid consolidation as other candidates dropped out and the huge endorsement from Representative James Clyburn of South Carolina, the third-ranking Democrat in the House. My Conversation with State Senator and Doctor Who Exposes Medicare Payouts for COVID-19 Patients

s you’ll see by end of this article, the specific decisions about money mentioned here affect life and death outcomes for patients.

A state senator has suddenly come out of nowhere and made big news.

My conversation with Minnesota State Senator, Dr. Scott Jensen, took place after I read the explosive statement he made to FOX News, on April 9th. So let’s start with his earlier FOX statement [1]:

“Right now Medicare has determined that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital you’ll get paid $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator, you get $39,000; three times as much. Nobody can tell me, after 35 years in the world of medicine, that sometimes those kinds of things [don’t] [have] impact on what we do…”

I reached out to Senator Jensen, and obtained clarification. Jensen told me his remark pertained to patients with Medicare coverage. And the 2 payouts he mentioned are standard insurance payments from Medicare which would go to the hospital.

Of course, he explained, some hospitals have a pay-share plan with their staff doctors. Therefore, a windfall for the hospital is passed along to those doctors.

Jensen told me: Take a Medicare patient who is diagnosed with simple non-COVID pneumonia. The hospital would receive a one-time Medicare lump-sum payout of $4600.

However, if that Medicare patient is diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia, the Medicare coverage is a one-time $13,000 payment. And if the hospital puts that COVID-19 pneumonia patient on a ventilator, the one-time payment is $39,000. NOTE: It doesn’t matter how long these patients stay in hospital—there is only going to be one lump-sum insurance payment.

So, I infer, there are several types of financial incentives for hospitals—

ONE: Diagnose as many people as possible with COVID-19.

TWO: Diagnose as many people as possible with COVID-19 who have light symptoms—making it easy to move them out of the hospital quickly.

THREE: Put as many COVID patients as possible on ventilators for as short a time as possible.

Under the heading of “diagnose as many patients as possible with COVID-19,” there is also the key question of what constitutes “a COVID-19 patient”—and how the use of that label can be multiplied and manipulated. Senator Jensen made a few choice comments to FOX on this subject as well.

From FOX News: “Dr. Scott Jensen, a Minnesota family physician who is also a Republican state senator, told ‘The Ingraham Angle’ Wednesday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidelines for doctors to certify whether a patient has died of coronavirus are ‘ridiculous’ and could be misleading the public.”

“Host Laura Ingraham read Jensen the [CDC] guidelines, which say: ‘In cases where a definite diagnosis of COVID cannot be made but is suspected or likely (e.g. the circumstances are compelling with a reasonable degree of certainty) it is acceptable to report COVID-19 on a death certificate as ‘probable’ or ‘presumed.’”

“In response, Jensen told Ingraham the CDC’s death certificate manual tells physicians to focus on ‘precision and specificity,’ but the coronavirus death certification guidance runs completely counter to that axiom.”

Attorney General Barr Issues Guidance to Protect Facilities from Unmanned Aircraft and Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Today, Attorney General William P. Barr issued Guidance to Department of Justice components regarding counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) actions authorized under the Preventing Emerging Threats Act of 2018 (the Act).

“This guidance was the product of extensive collaboration between the Department of Justice, the Department of Transportation and the FAA,” said Attorney General William P. Barr. “It will ensure that we are positioned for the future to address this new threat, and that we approach our counter-drone efforts responsibly, with full respect for the Constitution, privacy, and the safety of the national airspace.”

The Guidance outlines the process by which authorized department components can request designation of facilities or assets for protection under the Act, and ensures coordination with the FAA when any C-UAS action authorized under the Act might affect aviation safety, civilian aviation and aerospace operations, aircraft airworthiness, and the use of the airspace. This includes conducting a risk-based assessment in consultation with the Secretary of Transportation to examine potential airspace impacts and other considerations.

“The Guidance is another important step forward,” said Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen, who is responsible under the Guidance for reviewing and approving DOJ components’ protection requests. “The number of unmanned aircraft is increasing rapidly, as is their importance to the economy. By further enabling the Department’s efforts to mitigate threats posed by errant or malicious UAS, the Guidance helps to bring us closer to the larger objective of ensuring all forms of air traffic in the National Airspace System operate lawfully and safely.”

Importantly, the Guidance also reflects the department’s dedication to protecting privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. It contains explicit limitations on the retention and use of any data collected during the course of counter-drone operations and requires each component deploying C-UAS technologies to train personnel on privacy and civil liberties in that context. The Guidance further contains testing, procurement, and training requirements for authorized department personnel.

Ms. Haley is not a typical Republican or politician as her positions cut across policy lines. As governor of South Carolina, she signed the first state law in the United States against the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement. She did this in a state that has only 14,000 Jewish people. So it is a position she believes in, not one she adopted for political purposes. This makes her statements at the United Nations all the more believable and powerful. Ms. Haley also refused to support a law pending in the South Carolina legislature restricting the use of bathrooms by sex (which is not a conservative position). After initially opposing the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina legislature, she changed her position and advocated for its removal, so that “no one should feel pain by seeing this when they pass by.” These were courageous positions taken by a governor in South Carolina, especially one who was both young and female!

Nikki Haley is the real deal, a strong female candidate who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and what is right. It is refreshing to see this in a politician. Her statements at the United Nations in support of Israel and in defense of the U.S. embassy’s move to Jerusalem should be seen as a source of pride by the Jewish people. The fact that she held these positions as a strong supporter of Israel when she was the governor of South Carolina should give solace to those who are concerned that she is only echoing the policies of Donald Trump.
