(WVVA) β€” West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, U.S. Attorney Bill Powell and Secretary of State Mac Warner announced a criminal charge against a rural mail carrier Tuesday in connection with the alleged manipulation of absentee voter requests – evidence gathered by an investigator for the Attorney General on behalf of the Secretary of State’s Office.

 

Thomas Cooper, 47, of Dry Fork, stands charged with attempting to defraud the residents of West Virginia of a fair election. An affidavit accompanying the criminal complaint states Cooper fraudulently altered eight absentee ballot requests in Pendleton County, of which the complaint states he fraudulently changed the party affiliation on five from Democrat to Republican.

 

β€œManipulating one’s absentee ballot or application is not a laughing matter – it’s a federal offense,” Attorney General Morrisey said. β€œWe must protect the integrity of the ballot box, and this demonstrates the aggressive action we will take to do so. It is more important now than ever for voters to watch for unexplained or suspicious marks and/or any other irregularity with their ballot. If something looks suspicious, let us know right away.”

 

The affidavit states Cooper accessed the ballot requests through his employment as a rural mail carrier. He was responsible for mail delivery in the three towns from which the tampered requests were mailed – Onego, Riverton and Franklin.

 

According to the affidavit, Cooper admitted to altering some of the requests.

 

The alterations were caught by an elections official in the Pendleton County Courthouse, and reported to the state’s Election Fraud Task Force.

 

Secretary of State Warner noted the alertness and quick reaction by Pendleton County election officials, and said, β€œWe want everyone to be tuned into the increased opportunities for fraud. Voting absentee makes it easy to vote, but increases opportunities for irregularities and fraud to occur. If you see something, say something.”

 

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

 

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner (no relation to the Secretary of State) is prosecuting the case. The West Virginia Attorney General’s Office, West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office and the U.S. Postal Service Office of the Inspector General investigated.

 

This week’s filing amplifies concerns related to the ability of fraudsters to steal or manipulate absentee ballots now that more people will use a mail-in, absentee ballot due to social distancing concerns driven by the coronavirus pandemic.

 

The Attorney General and Secretary of State alerted voters in April to potential warning signs of absentee voter fraud, including the theft of absentee ballots from one’s mailbox, the submission of absentee ballot applications in the name of a recently deceased person and the submitting of more than two ballots during an election cycle – also known as ballot harvesting.

 

The leaders also recommended that no one should accept assistance in marking their ballot unless they know and completely trust the person to ward off any fraudster looking to substitute his or her choice over that of the legitimate voter. Even then, the helper should mark the ballot in front of the voter and sign the affidavit on the absentee ballot envelope.

The voter fingered their mail carrier as the likely culprit.

 

Mr. Cooper, interviewed by state investigators, admitted to changing the family’s ballots, and said he β€œwould take the blame” for the others too.

 

He said he did it β€œas a joke,” admitting he didn’t even know the others, according to an affidavit filed with the charges.

 

β€œHad Cooper’s conduct not been detected, it would have caused the clerk to give Republican ballots to 5 Democrat voters β€” skewing the primary election by 5 votes and thereby defrauding all West Virginian’s[sic] of a fair election,” wrote Bennie D. Mr. Cooper is charged with attempting to defraud state voters of a fair election.

 

Mr. Trump, battling against the push to expand mail-in voting during coronavirus, said it opens up new opportunities for fraud.

 

Election experts say proven instances of voting fraud are rare, but chances are higher for main-in voting than for in-person voting.

I think that Clown blackops creates bitcoin so that criminals would use it for transactions thinking it was untrackable. Moved to investigate the suspicious mass-deletions, the Verge discovered that YouTube has indeed added these phrases to a spam filter that automatically deletes user comments containing the phrases, even if they're used in a positive and politically irrelevant context.

Mere hours after Kara Swisher appeared on CNBC to call on Twitter to establish a panel of 'content reviewers' who can help the platform tag and remove "misinformation" - ie information that doesn't neatly fit the narrative being pushed by one of Swisher's employers, the New York Times - it looks like the company is taking a major step in that direction.

 

For the first time, Twitter has tagged tweets by President Trump as "misinformation", and appended a link where readers can "get the facts" below the tweet's primary text.

 

The tweet, sent earlier today by the president, was the latest in a series of missives opposing mail-in ballots, which the president has insisted would lead to widespread voter fraud.

 

According to Twitter spokesperson Katie Rosborough, who spoke to the Washington Post about the new policy, Trump's tweets "contain potentially misleading information about voting processes and have been labeled to provide additional context around mail-in ballots."

 

Evidence of widespread voter fraud in the US has yet to materialize, despite the fact that half the country seems to think that Russia somehow rigged the election in President Trump's favor. To be sure, there have been isolated incidences of voter fraud in recent years that have given some experts reason for concern - though these have been completely ignored, as they don't fit the narrative that the crime is "totally nonexistent"

 

But instead of allowing readers to reason this out for themselves (something that shouldn't be all that difficult given the thousands of replies calling Trump a racist liar), Twitter is stepping in to play the role of arbiter of truth.

 

An opinion column published in today's WSJ hinted at a notion that has become increasingly obvious in the Trump era: An absolute truth is an extremely rare thing. However, apparently, a letter sent to Dorsey by the widower of a former intern in then-Congressman Joe Scarborough's office begging the company to remove several Trump tweets - tweets that allegedly perpetuated a 'conspiracy' about the death of the man's wife - pushed the company over the edge. Famous last word from The National Review

There has been a lot of pearl clutching about Richard Grenell’s appointment as acting director of national intelligence (DNI). Evidently the appointment will be temporary

 

Grenell is staying as ambassador to Germany, and the White House is not going send his name to the Senate for confirmation as DNI.

 

It’s reasonable to criticize that arrangement.

 

But apart from that consideration, the appointment strikes me as a good one. Certainly there is no reason for the almost hysterical response that the choice has met in some quarters

 

The Directorate of National Intelligence and the DNI position were created in 2005. Its purpose is to assist the president in evaluating the intelligence collected by the 17 agenciesthat make up what is commonly called the β€œintelligence community,” or the IC. The DNI doesn’t have budgetary, personnel, or command authority over the community he overlooks; his job is to assess the intelligence that the IC creates, ask tough questions in an attempt to expose weakness or uncertainty, and present the views of the IC to the president in a useful form. If possible, the DNI should mediate differences among the various agencies to create a consensus view, but not to the point of suppressing honest differences of opinion that might affect the president’s decisions. In other words, the DNI is an evaluator, not an operator. Like top political leaders, he consumes rather than produces intelligence. The DNI doesn’t need to know how to run an operation or manage intelligence assets in hostile countries; in fact, he has no formal authority over those collection activities and would encounter immediate and ferocious resistance if he tried to interfere.

 

The DNI does need good judgment, an understanding of the global context that makes intelligence meaningful, and a good relationship with the president and the leaders of the most important agencies in the IC β€” chiefly the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the NSA, and the FBI. The relationship with the president is especially important, because the DNI typically gives the president his daily briefing.

 

For all these reasons, DNIs do not need to be, and often have not been, career intelligence officers. There have been five Senate-confirmed DNIs since the job was created. Only two of them (Admiral Mike McConnell and James Clapper) came from the IC. The first DNI β€” John Negroponte β€” was a career diplomat and ambassador who went on to be deputy secretary of state. Another, Admiral Dennis Blair, came out of the Surface Navy and was a former commander of the United States Pacific Command. The latest DNI was Dan Coates, a well-respected Senator who had been a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

 

The point is that DNIs come from a number of different backgrounds. What they have in common is long experience assessing intelligence and the ability to approach intelligence estimates the way presidents must approach them: in the context of broader national-security

 

I worked with Grenell on the Romney campaign in 2012; he is a clear thinker who adapts quickly to different roles. In addition, Grenell is close to the president, which as I said is a definite advantage; he has the courage of his convictions, which is always desirable; and he is willing to probe and question inertial bureaucratic assumptions, which for the DNI is a necessity.

 

Again, my main concern is whether Grenell will have enough time to have a real impact as DNI

Typically, acting DNIs have come from inside the intelligence community; everyone knows that they will return to their old job and will still be a presence in the IC. Grenell, on the other hand, will be leaving the IC and returning to the diplomatic world. The concerns are still relevant today. I hope Grenell at least has enough time on the job to formulate an opinion on such concerns. If he does, he will be in a good position, perhaps in a second Trump administration, to suggest changes that will make the DNI and the IC more effective. That would be yet another service that Grenell could perform for his country.

Twitter Brands Trump Vote-by-Mail Post with Fact Check, Citing CNN

 

Twitter added a link to β€œget the facts” about mail-in ballots after President Trump tweeted out widely-held concerns about the potential for voter fraud. The Twitter-curated β€œmoment” is filled with mainstream media articles from CNN, Washington Post, and other outlets calling Trump a liar.

 

β€œThere is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent,” said President Trump on Twitter. β€œMail boxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged & even illegally printed out & fraudulently signed.”

 

β€œThe Governor of California is sending Ballots to millions of people, anyone living in the state, no matter who they are or how they got there, will get one,” continued Trump. β€œThat will be followed up with professionals telling all of these people, many of whom have never even thought of voting before, how, and for whom, to vote. This will be a Rigged Election. No way!”

 

People trying to view Trump’s tweets on Twitter will see a link added by the site beneath them saying β€œget the facts about mail-in ballots.” Clicking on the link takes Twitter users to a Twitter β€œmoment” (a collection of tweets and links) curated by the company itself and filled with mainstream media articles from CNN, Washington Post, and other outlets calling President Trump a liar. This is reportedly the first time the social media platform has branded Trump’s tweets with a link to a fact check of this type.

 

The top article is a piece from CNN Opinion, calling the President’s claim β€œunsubstantiated” and claiming that mail-in ballots β€œvery rarely lead to voter fraud.”

 

As Breitbart News’ Charlie Spiering has reported, the Trump campaign has substantiated its concerns with mail-in voting, contrary to what the Twitter-backed CNN article claims.

 

The president’s re-election campaign responded quickly to Acosta’s request, noting there were nine people charged in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas with β€œvote harvesting” and mail ballots, a political operative in New York stealing and submitting absentee ballots, and a resident in Pennsylvania receiving seven separate ballots in the mail.

 

The campaign also shared a Heritage Foundation document of over 1,000 proven cases of vote fraud.

 

β€œDemocrats and the mainstream media always scoff at claims of voter fraud, but then completely ignore evidence from across the country,” Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a statement. β€œThe obvious reason is that Democrats are just fine with the possibility of voter fraud. Just my two cents anons but I think @Jack's messing with POTUS tweets are a violation of the Presidential Records Act, or at least involves altering Federal Records.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: A Utah CEO who pleaded guilty to having more than 13,000 files of child pornography, including some that depicted rape and bestiality, was sentenced by a judge to less than one year in prison.

 

Douglas Eugene Saltsman, 40, considered to be a "computer genius" after founding a now-defunct blockchain and cryptocurrency in Sandy, first came to the attention of authorities after they were alerted to an internet provider address sharing child pornography using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program.

 

Detectives obtained a search warrant and, with the help of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, raided his home on May 7, 2019. They seized his electronic devices, which were found to contain thousands of files of child pornography, according to KUTV.

 

One of the files consisted of a compilation video of prepubescent girls under the age of 8, some of them just toddlers, being raped. Other files obtained from a laptop, a black computer, an SSD storage device, and an SD card, contained child sex abuse imagery involving toddlers. They showed the children bound and raped.

 

After submitting the files to the law enforcement portal of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, police learned that 279 of them depicted known identified child victims.

 

Police also found "disturbing videos of Douglas Saltsman engaged (in) sexual intercourse with several unconscious women," and a "clandestine drug lab of some sort" in a downstairs bedroom closet. They had to call the Sandy Fire Department and hazmat team to ensure the lab was not a public safety hazard.

Saltsman was initially facing 11 charges in connection to the files but struck a deal with prosecutors last month where most of them were dropped in exchange for him pleading guilty to three second-degree felony charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.

 

During his sentencing this past week, the 40-year-old, who was facing 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, apologized for his behavior.

 

"I just want to say that every day I wake up to shame, guilt, regret, and disgust," he told the court. "When I did the psychosexual evaluation all I could talk about was confusion and compulsive behaviors, talk about downloading, viewing, and masturbating to child pornography."

 

"I didn't understand why I would think these things. I started seeing a psychiatrist right after that," he continued. "I was prescribed medication and I began therapy. That's when I started to understand some of the deeper mental issues. I learned that my self-destructive behavior matches my self-hatred."

"I want to repair the damage I have done, that I see that I have done. I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror. I'm sorry. I'll make sure this never happens again, you'll never see me."

 

Prosecutor Cynthia Poulsen pointed out to Judge Douglas Hogan that Saltsman had only talked about himself and not the victims, but the judge suspended the recommendations for a lengthy prison term. Instead, he sentenced Saltsman to 210 days in prison with credit for the 148 days he had already spent behind bars and ordered that he serve 48 months of probation with Adult Probation & Parole (AP&P) after his release.

 

"He'll be subject to group A sex offender conditions," he added. "He'll need to undergo and complete successfully sex offender treatment and therapy. He will also need to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any recommended treatment."

By the end of this summer, the NSC will consist of just 105 staff, the official said.

 

β€œUnder previous administrations, the NSC more than doubled in size and duplicated many of the functions of DoD, State and the intelligence community,” O’Brien told The Post on Tuesday.

 

β€œUnder President Trump, we have brought the NSC back to its proper size and role as a coordinating body,” he continued.

 

β€œTo make that happen we require the best leaders, many of whom are women. Our goal is always to find the very best professionals for each job, and I am very proud of the team we have assembled at the NSC to further President Trump’s agenda,” he said.

 

The NatSec became a bloated bureaucracy under Obama and Obama holdovers such as Eric Ciaramella, Alex Vindman and Sean Misko worked together to β€œtake out” Trump.

 

Rep. Nunes took it a step further and previously urged President Trump to move the entire NSC apparatus out of the White House and across the Potomac River.

Disney, CBS Sued over Alleged Sexual Harassment on β€˜Criminal Minds’ Set

 

A California state employment department is suing Disney and CBS for years of alleged sexual harassment of men on the set of now canceled police drama series Criminal Minds.

 

Complaints about the alleged behavior of cinematographer Greg St. Johns are well known both in and out of the industry. Indeed, St. Johns was fired from the show in 2018 over his alleged behavior on set. But now a lawsuit has been filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing alleging that for years the series producers and the network turned a blind eye to the alleged harassment before finally taking action against St. Johns.

 

β€œOn a frequent and regular basis, St. Johns touched numerous men on the testicles, anus, butt cheeks, breasts, and kissed or caressed their necks, shoulders, and ears, among other actions. St. Johns doted on certain men and treated them more favorably, provided they acquiesced to his attention. To those who resisted, he retaliated in common patterns, including the silent treatment, social ostracism, unfair criticism, public shaming, and ultimately termination,” the filing says in part.

 

According to the state agency, more than a dozen men were fired after they launched complaints about confrontations or altercations with St. John. And while St. John was eventually fired, the lawsuit also claims he was given favorable treatment with β€œenhanced severance” pay.

 

β€œIn addition to Disney, ABC Studios, ABC Signature Studios, CBS Studios, Entertainment Partners, Inc., and other defendants named in the lawsuit include Criminal Minds executive producers Erica Messer, Harry Bring, Breen Frazier, Glenn Kershaw, co-producer Stacey Beneville and ten anonymous defendants,” The Wrap reported.

 

The state agency adds that those named in the lawsuit β€œhad actual and constructive knowledge of St. Johns’ abusive conduct,” and by their actions, β€œcondoned it.” Those actions included firing employees who complained, the agency said.

 

β€œDefendants chose to act in conscious disregard of its employees’ rights by ignoring the complaints made by the crewmembers. It was not until the media made St. Johns’ conduct public and threatened their image that defendants removed St. Johns from the show,” the agency’s lawsuit alleged.

 

St. Johns is not the only member of the Criminal Minds production to lose a job over abusive behavior. In 2016, series star Thomas Gibson β€” who played agent Aaron Hotcherner for twelve seasons β€” was fired after getting into a physical altercation with a series producer.

 

The studio alleged that Gibson kicked the show’s co-producer and writer Virgil Williams during an argument in July of 2016.

 

Criminal Minds has since been canceled, but it had a very successful 15-year run on CBS, making it one of the network’s longest running shows.

Fruitland Park Woman Sentenced To Federal Prison For Defrauding Social Security

Ocala, Florida – U.S. District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced Darlene Nanette Rodriguez (46, Fruitland Park) to one year and one day in federal prison for theft of government property. The court also ordered Rodriguez to forfeit $173,619.40, which are proceeds of the offense. She had pleaded guilty on March 12, 2020.

 

According to court documents, over a period of approximately 15 years, Rodriguez collected disability benefits while concealing her full-time employment from the Social Security Administration. This concealment included forging pay stubs, letters, and other documentation and sending it to the Social Security Administration so she could continue to receive benefits. These forged documents falsely claimed that Rodriguez was ill, had only worked for short periods of time, or underreported her actual income. Rodriguez ultimately collected $173,619.40 in benefits to which she was not entitled.

 

This case was investigated by the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William S. Hamilton.

Trump Reviews Halting Foreign Worker Inflow as Grassroots Effort Grows

 

President Trump is reportedly reviewing plans to expand his immigration executive order to halt the massive inflow of foreign visa workers as a pro-American worker grassroots campaign grows.

 

Trump, according to Politico, may expand the order to reduce foreign labor market competition while more than 36 million Americans are unemployed. The existing order limits a small portion of green cards that make up less than ten percent of all legal immigration.

 

The expansion of the order, Politico reports, could include a halt on the J-1 visa program f0r foreign exchange visitors, the OPT program for foreign graduates, the H-1B visa for white-collar foreign workers, and the H-2B visa for blue-collar foreign workers:

It is also looking at cutting visas for skilled workers in specialty occupations and seasonal workers who work in industries that include landscaping, housekeeping and construction industries, they say. The program helps shift billions of dollars from heartland communities to metropolises in blue states with wealthy residents.

 

Similarly, there are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements. More than 85,000 Americans annually potentially lose their jobs to H-1B foreign visa workers.

 

Grassroots organizations β€” such as the American Workers Coalition, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), and U.S. Tech Workers β€” have increased pressure on the White House to halt foreign visa worker programs.

Two college athletes in Idaho who say they have each lost to a transgender athlete want a lawsuit challenging Republican Gov. Brad Little’s β€œFairness in Women’s Sports Act” to be dismissed.

The American Civil Liberties Union and Legal Voice (ACLU) filed a lawsuit in April aimed at preventing the bill from becoming law. They also alleged that the new law violates the 1972 Title IX law and wants it to be scrapped.

 

The nonprofit group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a motion Tuesday on behalf of college track stars Madison Kenyon, 19 and Mary Marshall, 20, requesting to be a part of the lawsuit. ADF would be on the state’s side and wishes to have ACLU’s lawsuit thrown out.
