From its inception in 2005 through 2009, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) had already raised $46 billion for 1,200 philanthropic projects that were said to have impacted an estimated 200 million people in 150 countries. [4]

 

Actually the Clinton Foundation has morphed since its inception and gone through several name changes, and created a great number of related entities. Its original purpose was to fund and endow the Clinton Presidential Library. Its tax returns indicate a gradual change in purpose that never received IRS approval. "Attorneys for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein touted his close friendship with Bill Clinton and even claimed the billionaire helped start Clinton's controversial family foundation in a 2007 letter aimed at boosting his image during plea negotiations." [2] In the letter from Epstein’s lawyers (Alan Dershowitz and Gerald Lefcourt) to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of Florida, Epstein claimed to be part of the original group that conceived the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). CGI was renamed the "Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation" in 2013. The Panama Papers revealed some major Clinton financial partners using Panamian law firm Mossack Fonseca to move assets around the world surreptitiously. Canadian mining magnate Frank Giustra donated over $25M. The Chagoury family of Nigeria committed $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative. [3]

Offshore entities were involved in the uranium deal that resulted in Russian ownership of 20% of American uranium production. Frank Giustra used Mossack Fonseca to create UrAsia Energy, which acquired lucrative uranium concessions in Kazakhstan with the help of Bill Clinton in 2005. UrAsia Energy eventually became Uranium One, which acquired uranium assets in the U.S. and then was sold to the Russian State Nuclear Agency (ROSATOM) in 2010. The deal required approval from Hillary Clinton’s State Department. Nine Uranium One shareholders sent a combined $145M to the Clinton Foundation, including a single contribution of over $2M by CEO Ian Telfer. Why did the Clinton Foundation neglect to report some of those contributions? They were first uncovered using Canadian tax records by the authors of Clinton Cash. [3]

Sergei Kurzin, a Russian mining investor involved in Uranium One, says he donated $1M to Clinton Foundation. He also used Mossack Fonseca; his name appears on several oil companies set up by the firm.

Mossack Fonseca helped Ronald Chagoury set up a firm called Echo Art Ltd. domiciled in the British Virgin Islands. Gilbert Chagoury’s plans for the future include tying up the best of African industry to the resource needs of China, India and Latin America. This family moved to Nigeria but the came from Lebanon. [15] Among other business interests, they deal in transportation. Chagoury Group is a Nigerian multinational business conglomerate headquartered in Lagos. Founded in 1971 by Gilbert R. Chagoury and Ronald Chagoury, their businesses include construction and property development, flour mills, water bottling and purification, glass manufacturing, insurance, hotels, furniture manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, IT, catering and international financing. [16]

Two years earlier in 2014, a whistleblower released the names of super-rich individuals with Swiss accounts at HSBC. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists then documented transfers of $81M from these accounts to The Clinton Foundation. They revealed that Swiss accounts were held by numerous Clinton donors. Jeffrey Epstein had various accounts totaling $3.5M; in 2006 Epstein gave $25,000 to The Clinton Foundation. [2]

Note that Epstein was a money-manager. He managed other people's money. (It's not clear why people gave him money to manage.) Did Epstein arrange the use of secret Swiss accounts for his clients?

British retail magnate Richard Caring gave the Clinton Foundation $1M from his HSBC Swiss account in 2005. He donated shortly after Bill Clinton attended his charity ball dressed as a Russian general. [add material from 7]

Frank Giustra's HSBC account held up to $10M in 2006-2007. His first contributions to the Clinton Foundation were in 2005. [3]

American entrepreneur Eli Broad, a $1M+ contributor to the Clinton Foundation, held accounts at HSBC.

Denise Rich, ex-wife of financier and one-time international fugitive Marc Rich, who was pardoned by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office, has contributed up to $500,000 to the Clinton Foundation. [3]

Other major CF donors included Michael Schumacher (a racing driver seriously injured in 2013 skiing accident) and French financier Arpad Busson.

Swiss bank accounts are not necessarily illegal. However, firms such as Fonseca offer services to minimize tax burdens and keep assets hidden.

In 1995, at the age of 22, Band began to work as an unpaid intern in Bill Clinton's White House, eventually becoming Clinton’s "body man", and he continued to work with the former President as he set up the Clinton Foundation. [5]

Band later worked for the William J. Clinton Foundation, and traveled to North Korea to orchestrate the release of two Americans and to Cuba to help secure the release of American Alan Gross. [6]

Band negotiated with the Obama Administration to appoint then-Senator Hillary Clinton to become Secretary of State. [6]

Interestingly, Band had a key ally on Hillary’s team: Huma Abedin. Bill’s body man and Hillary’s body woman had bonded over their loyalty to their bosses. They were known to show up at parties together, which some saw as an endearing big brother–little sister dynamic, and which others interpreted as evidence that Abedin had a crush on Band. They also had an ingenious method of collecting intelligence on each other’s behalf. Abedin would sidle up to someone in Bill’s camp and, in a confiding tone, make a disparaging remark about Band. If it was reciprocated, she would relay the criticisms to Band and he would do the same for her, says someone who fell for this technique. β€œThey had each other’s back a lot,” says the former White House colleague. [8]

Band founded his consultancy, Teneo, in 2011. Teneo's clients overlapped with the Clinton Foundation's donors. [5] Teneo is headquartered on the 45th floor of the former Citigroup Center tower in Midtown Manhattan. It employs more than 200 people in 13 cities, including Dubai, Hong Kong, and SΓ£o Paolo. From the beginning, Teneo resembled an outpost of Clintonland more than an independent entity. Clinton and Blair came on as paid advisers. [8]

In 2012 (check date), Abedin signed on with the firm to provide β€œstrategic advice and consulting services to the firm’s management team” and helped to β€œorganize a major annual firm event.” (The Senate Judiciary Committee investigated whether Abedin's work for Teneo conflicted with her position as a paid State Department consultant.) [8]

A number of key Teneo clients were also closely involved with Clinton’s charitable work. One month before the Rockefeller Foundation presented Clinton with an award for philanthropy, it gave Teneo a $3.4 million contract to propose β€œtangible solutions to global problems.” [8]

In November 2011 emails, Chelsea Clinton accused Band and Teneo of giving their clients free memberships to the Clinton Global Initiative and β€œhustling business” at the conference. Band denied it, saying he persuaded Teneo clients to donate money to Bill Clinton’s charity projects, to hire Clinton for corporate speeches, and to serve on boards of directors. Band said he's raised $8M for the Clinton Foundation this way, and that his efforts to date had brought Clinton over $30M now and would bring him $60M over the next decade. He cited a for-profit university, Laureate, that paid Clinton $3.5M to serve as its β€œhonorary chairman.” He listed Teneo's courtship of of the Coca-Cola CEO, Muhtar Kent. Band's partner Declan Kelly brought Kent to Clinton’s home in 2009 and persuaded him to make $4M corporate donations to CF. Oddly, Kent's name later turned up on a list of 39 potential VP that John Podesta sent to Hillary Clinton. [5]

The reason, according to many reports, is that she sent an email on June 2 to the Solomont School of Nursing on the recent anti-racism demonstrations across the country that include the words β€œeveryone’s life matters.”

 

As a blog dedicated to free speech, it has been difficult to keep up with the rising number of cases of the curtailment of speech or academic freedom on our campuses. The US Supreme Court agreed to hear the Trump administration’s bid to keep parts of prosecutor Robert Mueller’s report on alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election redacted, likely ensuring the material won’t sway 2020 votes.

 

Tuesday’s Supreme Court decision hands congressional Democrats at least a temporary defeat in their effort to force disclosure of secrets that they hope can be used to damage President Donald Trump politically. The case won’t be heard until the court’s next term, which begins in October, so it won’t likely be decided until after the November 3 election.

 

The Democrat-controlled US House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the redacted materials last year and won a lower court ruling in March ordering the administration to turn over the documents. The Supreme Court put a temporary hold on the order in May, pending its decision on whether to hear Trump’s appeal.

Attorney General Robert Barr blacked out certain material, including grand jury testimony, before releasing Mueller’s 448-page report in April 2019, a move that Democrats said was made to hide information that would be politically damaging for Trump. The former special counsel found no evidence that Trump or members of his campaign team conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

 

Mueller’s report claimed that the Russian government interfered in the election in β€œsweeping and systematic fashion,” but key allegations remain unsubstantiated. For instance, Mueller’s team of lawyers failed to verify an FBI supposition that Russian hackers breached at least one Florida voting machine. And to this day, there has been no evidence proving that Moscow stole Democratic National Committee emails.

 

In fact, Shawn Henry, president of CrowdStrike, the cyber-security firm that first accused Russia of hacking the DNC in 2016, admitted under oath in December 2017 congressional testimony that he had no concrete evidence that the emails in question were exfiltrated by Russia.

Barkai was convicted in 2011 of being part of an international child pornography distribution ring and later sentenced to 18 months behind bars. However, the punishment was reduced on appeal to six months of community service, a nine-month suspended sentence and a NIS 20,000 ($5,690) fine.

 

For over a year up to his conviction, but after he had already been charged, Barkai continued to practice at a Haifa clinic of the Meuhedet HMO after a Health Ministry disciplinary committee ruled that he could continue to see children as long as a parent or nurse was in the room.

 

The disciplinary committee went on to rule that despite the charges, Barkai did not pose a danger to children as he had not been accused of physical acts against minors. As a result, it ruled that the pediatrician’s license should only be stripped for two years, and by July 2013 Barkai got his license back….

 

However, senior officials in the Health Ministry have come to Barkai’s defense. In 2014, the Health Ministry’s senior vice president of Administration and Human Resources, Dov Passat, submitted a letter to the disciplinary committee asserting that there should be nothing preventing Barkai from applying for tenders for positions as a pediatrician. The letter was submitted by Barkai as an official position of the Health Ministry to the Petah Tivka Magistrate’s Court, which ruled in 2018 that he be granted an exemption from the ban on employing convicted sex offenders as he does not pose a risk to the public, even if he works as a pediatrician.

 

In late 2018, a medical board voted unanimously to award Barkai a position as medical supervisor at the Health Ministry’s student health services department in the northern district. The Civil Service Commission subsequently interfered and blocked the appointment, stating in a 2019 hearing that β€œwhile the job at hand does not require clinical care for children, its core is oversight of student services and some of its assignments take place on school grounds and during the school day… Taking into account the nature of the offenses of which Dr. Barkai was convicted, [granting him this position] can greatly damage the image of the Civil Service Commission and the public’s confidence in its institutions.” "

Author Stanley Kurtz argued in his book Spreading The Wealth: How Obama Is Robbing The Suburbs To Pay For the Cites that Barack Obama’s grand socialist plan included redistributing wealth from American suburbs to the inner city.

Adam Schiff Knew About 'Russian Bounty' Intel Months Ago, Did Nothing

 

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was briefed on unverified intelligence that Russia was offering the Taliban to kill US soldiers in Afghanistan - yet did nothing with that information, according to The Federalist.

 

Schiff, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, was a key player in the attempt to remove Trump from office - first claiming he had evidence of collusion with Russia, before pivoting to the Ukraine saga where he spearheaded the House's impeachment of Trump over his request that Ukraine's new president investigate Joe and Hunter Biden over allegations of corruption.

 

And yet, somehow Schiff failed to weaponize the 'Taliban bounty' story for months after his staff was briefed on the rumor during a February congressional delegation (CODEL) trip to Afghanistan.

 

The Federalist points out Schiff's hypocrisy:

 

Schiff’s recent complaints that Trump took no action against Russia in response to rumors of Russian bounties are curious given that Schiff himself took no action after his top staff were briefed by intelligence officials.

 

As chairman of the intelligence committee, Schiff had the authority to immediately brief the full committee and convene hearings on the matter. Schiff, however, did nothing. He did not brief his committee on the matter, nor did he brief the gang of 8, which consists of top congressional leadership in both chambers.

 

Schiff is demanding that the Trump administration brief all of Congress about the unverified allegations, yet he himself did not ask for a briefing of the Intelligence Committee following the February briefing of his own staff.

 

Schiff spokesman Patrick Boland failed to respond to a Federalist request for comment on the congressman's inaction for months, or why travel records from the Afghanistan trip had yet to be disclosed in the Congressional record "as required by law."

 

Meanwhile, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said in a Saturday statement that he had "confirmed that neither the President nor the Vice President were ever briefed on any intelligence alleged by the New York Times in its reporting."

 

And in a Saturday night Tweet in response to establishment tool Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Trump wrote "Intel just reported to me that they did not find this info credible, and therefore did not report it to me or VP."

Yesterday the Global Daily noted that markets were under a Sword of Damocles in terms of the rapid deterioration in US-China relations. Markets were, of course, happier to focus on what might be a virus vaccine, despite the fact that the actual impact of the virus does not bother them, and on more upbeat US data, which runs against the trend in the virus that they aren’t bothered about.

 

Around 12 hours after publication came news that the White House plans to proceed with β€œharsh” Magnitsky sanctions against members of the Chinese Communist Party it sees as responsible for human rights abuses in Xinjiang. That decision may have been prompted by the US seizure yesterday of a cargo of 11.8 tonnes of human hair for wig-making which it alleges may have been sourced from β€œre-education” centres in Xinjiang holding ethnic Muslim populations: the US does not seem to believe Uighurs are all being taught hair-dressing. Beijing has already made clear it will be furious if this occurs: could it perhaps go so far as to target US firms in response?

 

Yet within hours that threat was eclipsed by the unanimous passage by the US House of Representatives of the bill already passed in the Senate to impose mandatory Magnitsky sanctions on Chinese banks who do business with officials implementing Hong Kong’s new national security law. Constitutionally, the Senate now needs to pass the bill again, which it appears will take no time at all given the sentiment in DC, and it then goes to President Trump with a veto-proof majority behind it - meaning it WILL become law. Perhaps even as soon as this this week, but certainly in the not-too-distant future. Underlining the present political dynamic, each member of Congress has, in all likelihood, broken said Hong Kong law by their actions and could technically be open to arrest if they were to visit.

 

The language of the bill, which is now crucial, states: β€œIf the Secretary of State determines that a foreign person is materially contributing to, has materially contributed to, or attempts to materially contribute to the failure of the Government of China to meet its obligations under the Joint Declaration of the Basic Law” then the US is to impose sanctions on it. That is broad enough to cover anyone in the Chinese or Hong Kong government, security services, and/or civil servants. The bill also states any foreign financial institution that conduct β€œsignificant transactions” with anyone in the Hong Kong government or the National People’s Congress (NPC), or in the Hong Kong China Liaison Office, will likewise be cut off from the US financial system.

 

How are these individuals banked now? By Chinese banks. Will the NPC or Hong Kong government really be paid in cash from now on? Hardly. In which case, the Chinese banks that bank them would, under this bill, be cut off from USD in exactly the same way Iran has been. It is there in black and white. There might well be a lead time of a year to allow global positions to be unwound – but that would be the final destination.

The unspecified incident involved one of the "sheds under construction" at Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesperson for the organization, told state news agency IRNA this Thursday.

 

There were no casualties among personnel and the incident did not disrupt "the current activities of this complex."

 

The Natanz site is thought to be Iran's prime uranium enrichment facility and a key part of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. Calling the enrichment site "inactive," Kamalvandi said "there is no need to worry" about "the possibility of creating [radioactive] pollution."

 

The official stopped short of sharing more details, but said expert teams from the Atomic Energy Organization had been deployed to investigate the incident.

 

Located some 250km south of Tehran, the Natanz facility was the target of a sophisticated cyberattack almost a decade ago. The Stuxnet worm was reportedly used to sabotage enrichment activity by incapacitating gas centrifuges, and the network attack affected the whole nuclear program, then-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad admitted at the time.

 

The site was also mentioned in the 2015 nuclear deal, which has been in jeopardy since the US withdrew from it in 2018. In response to the withdrawal, Tehran has rolled back its commitments under the pact and restarted enriching uranium beyond limits set out in the agreement.

Dozens evacuated after massive explosions at local supermarket in western France

 

Residents in Plancoet, in northwestern France, were rudely awoken in the middle of the night by a series of ferocious explosions at a nearby supermarket, which blew out windows and forced evacuations.

 

Roughly 40 firefighters from the town and nearby villages were deployed to tackle the blaze near the Hyper U store in Plancoet, which broke out at around 2:38am local time. Eyewitness footage from the scene shows the incredible power of the explosions. It comes amid fears that an arsonist might be wreaking havoc in the area.

 

Exploded gas bottles were found over 50 meters away from the fire, and there is also a liquefied petroleum gas tank nearby which firefighters were extremely concerned might explode during the initial phase of their operation.

 

Hampering their efforts further was the risk of additional gas cylinders exploding and becoming improvised missiles, forcing firefighters to keep their distance and rely on water cannon to tame the blaze.

 

Some 55 people were evacuated, while a further five were ordered to shelter in place in their homes, but thankfully there were no injuries or fatalities reported.

 

Thursday morning’s fire is the largest of 15 blazes to occur in the town in the last three months. Mayor Patrick Barrault declined to comment on the possibility that a serial arsonist was to blame for the recent spate of fires, citing an ongoing investigation.
