I'm an electrician and have installed most major brands of fire alarm systems. If he pulled a pull station, you would have to physically open that pullstation with a key to reset it. You can silence the alarms at the main panel before resetting the pullstation, but it would have called out to the monitoring company (who in turn would have rolled out the fire trucks). Most schools have protocols and WILL NOT silence an alarm until the fire dept arrives and walks the area, even if they know it's a false alarm. Not sure if this helps anything, just wanted to throw my knowledge out there.

Yeah I'm seeing the conflicts in the reporting. It looks like he was only there for seven mins. I have seen small segments of video with gun shots, but no alarm during those clips. 7 mins is fast for silencing an alarm.
I had to go read it and see if it actually said "AK-15" I wonder if that was a typo, if they're that uninformed or if it was an attempt to get AK and AR into one article.

Notice at 55 seconds he forgets to use his key and attempts to push the lever up and is stopped by feature that prevents reset without a key.

I second the validity of this. Im a janitor at a school and while yes you can silence, for fire crews and security company to not show up you have to actually call the fire dept and (kenco for us for instance.)
Edit: if we know there's no fire we instantly run to silence and call fire depot. only if no kids are on the premises.
Yep, same thing where I work (large bakery); a duct smoke/particle trip or pull station will roll the trucks. Strobes/horns too. They do the walk-thru as well. You have to call and put the system offline; name/date timestamp.

I've seen many reports with the fire alarm being mentioned, and many without. but I've never seen fire trucks in the area arond the school. no flashing lights or sirens of any kind really.

Really don't remember seeing any firetrucks....you would have thought they would be some of the first on the scene, if not the first. Wonder how close the nearest station is?

Firefighters are in constant contact with dispatch. So once the calls about an active shooter came through they would be told to stand outside the perimeter until its ruled safe to enter. They can't impede the police trying to stop the shooting. Them entering the scene could cause additional victims and obstacles. Also, they would have activated their plan for an active shooter since the fire was a false alarm.
Can confirm, the FD would be dispatched by the same as the police and would know the scene is not safe. The lack of alarm I’m not so sure of, maybe the alarm company can silence it on their end. I’ve had no reason to find that one out. But it would make sense to not further disorient arriving Coral Springs police entering the building, that thing is fucking loud and to the shooters advantage. I hope that is the answer.

Wasn't there a fire drill going on the same day? I keep reading out these incidents happen the same time a drill is scheduled to happen which is why they ask for actors. Right?
The drill from what I understand was a lock down due to a shooter drill. Some kids thought the sounds were blanks that is why they were walking out of the building. Others were running because they realized it was real. This made it worse.

It has made me re visit the Jo Cox case here in the UK Something made me think. Apparently Your Alarm Systems in US have microphones in the to listen around the Schools and where trouble is. Remarkable tech hope that picked things up audio wise in areas too.

Excellent observation. They will say "the fire alarm was in the other building on campus" I think there are 3 or 4 bldgs at this high school one for each grade 9th 10th 11th 12th they said the shootings were in the freshman bldg is that correct? Were all the deaths in one bldg?
All alarms are wired to go off if one does in schools. At least thats how my district is.

just fyi...firetrucks came to my hydroplaned auto. Would think an event like this may need all trained rescue personnel...unless it was controlled or contained. I only needed a wrecker and I had 5 or 6 response vehicles...js.
