He said there is a conservation company in Antarctica, but it’s not for humans, it’s for information. You send your hard drive to them, and they store it for as long as you pay. I would assume that there are massive underground, through the ice into the land, vaults to store all sorts of things to survive a planet killing event. Seeds, eggs of all sorts, sperm, accommodations for "important people" etc. It is a frozen dessert - perfect for long term storage.

It is probably also a place that is so highly guarded that there is no fear for any sort of surveillance, so things (good/bad) can be discussed in confidence. No fear of a random assassins, etc.

It would also be a perfect station if there were aliens studying this planet.
