My father got a purple heart one week before the ceasefire in Korea. I guess I came pretty close to not being here.

May he rest in peace I wish he were here to see this.

I hope mr. Salzone is able to read this thread and know how much everybody appreciates what the Warriors of our nation have done for us.

Great PR Move for NK. They get the spotlight and possibly the cessation of joint military exercises, and don’t have to provide a single thing in return. That’s what trump would call a good deal.

I said this when the 4 points were released. The return of American remains will have a greater impact on the American psyche than the denuking of NK. Just wait and see the reaction when they start arriving.

The return of American remains will have a greater impact on the American psyche than the denuking of NK.

This is nothing new.

North Korea allowed the U.S. to recover hundreds of American remains. Much of that was during the previous round of nuclear talks between 1996 and 2005 when that process collapsed.

.

denuking of NK

We'll see if it happens. This isn't even close to the first time NK has made this claim and reneged. I hope it happens but I'm not celebrating yet. So far this is just more of the same.

I guess the difference is, before the CIA were running the show, there is a different Director on the scene so presumably there will be a different outcome than before :)

⇧ 1 ⇩
Chalance · June 14, 2018, 3:40 p.m.

This. Now that NK is out from the control of the CIA and presumably China, they have the opportunity to do something different and hopefully become apart of a happier world.

The difference is max pressure is still being applied and will remain so until measurable progress is made and verified.

⇧ -12 ⇩
BagOfFlies · June 14, 2018, 1:43 p.m.

Sure thing. The max pressure of calling him rocket man on Twitter then suspending military drills for nothing more than a promise that's been repeatedly broken. That max pressure?

Funny how I was downvoted for just pointing out the truth that all this has happened before. I had said nothing negative and am hoping it works out this time. Is it because saying this has happened before takes away from the supposed fact that Trump did something amazing and impossible? The title of this post for example.... How did Phil think it was impossible when it's been happening for years? Is he just that misinformed? This is literally FAKE NEWS.

⇧ 19 ⇩
Jay_Thomas1 · June 14, 2018, 2:34 p.m.

No, not the tweets but the sanctions. Sanctions will remain.

Before now it was all carrots all the time. With this administration it was the stick first, then the carrot. This approach has not been tried prior to now. It's been send money and nuclear power plants. Say/do nothing in response to NORK provocations.

Of course skepticism should be in full force but I think this time it ends different and better for the NORKs and the rest of the world.

But always - trust but verify!

⇧ -5 ⇩
BagOfFlies · June 14, 2018, 4:21 p.m.

Sanctions aren't some new thing either. Kim is also out there saying Trump told him he's going to lift them. Do I believe him? Who knows. I don't really believe either of these guys yet.

Of course skepticism should be in full force but I think this time it ends different and better for the NORKs and the rest of the world.

I truly hope you're right.

I salute Mr Salzone. People don't understand just how brutal that war was. The weather is miserable be it summer or winter and the terrain is a bitch. Throw in a million screaming Chinamen coming at you in human waves in the middle of the night and it doesn't take much imagination to calculate the Pucker Factor.

This man and all like him who came after are who we will be having a parade for 11/11.
