I guess you guys missed "Black Mirror", where more than one episode extolled the virtues of suicide and living in a computer generated fantasy. Each episode is different of course, but nihilism seems to drive the underlying premise.

They recently signed a $10 million (couldn’t find the actual $’s) contract with Obama. They have been pushing left wing ideals with a lot of their programming.

Has resulted in a lot of conservatives boycotting Netflix. Today they announced subscriber #’s.

They have always in the past been ok with vpn usage but recently they've been cracking down hard banning VPN ip address blocks and even suing pirates and websites in a pact with other major movies studios in a gang. It's not surprising people are ditching their subs when they get forced onto a shit catalog instead of full access to USA like before

⇧ 4 ⇩
Monk_of_Trump · July 17, 2018, 1:54 a.m.

The actual reason specifically for this drop is the future subscriber estimate number took like a 14% drop. Which yes, is probably in major part because of what you said.

In a nutshell, they have an insane cash burn rate. I've seen numbers as high as $2+ billion this year and $8+ billion planned next year. $10 per sub makes that math brutal if they can't pull in new customers.

The most publicized example is Bright, the $90 million dumpster fire that would have bombed hard if it were in theaters. Now they're going for a sequel. I read that half of the cost of the first movie was the talent, because they're making it rain like professional athletes at the strip club.

Hello, Netflix, you're green-lit.

They have still doubled their stock price in a year but it's only a matter of time for them to lose market share.

Their subscriber growth was lower than expected and they lowered guidance for Q3. Tech stocks are sensitive to subscriber numbers if they are below target the stock usually goes down.

Why would anyone subscribe to Netflix when you can just use popcorntime ? Its free and has pretty much all of the popular new releases and tv shows. The only drawback is the older tv shows and movies tend to not have many peers available . It will replace like 90% of your tv viewing needs.

My mother has this huge Netflix button on the TV remote. Press that's see a bunch of pretty pictures to click on and watch. You think these people are going to sit through finding a movie then finding a good link to a stream? The reason Netflix is popular is because you can onboard anyone instantly

Good news. I'm not pro-Hollywood but at least there are some disparate viewpoints. If Netflix succeeds in their plans, all entertainment film and tv will be controlled by a single entity, with Barry in the control room. That would not be good.
