Everyone is piling into everything.

 

That's probably the best way to describe the market frenzy this week which has seen an all time high in the Nasdaq and gold, an all time low 10Y yields, and an S&P that is just shy of its all time highs.

 

Sure enough, on Wednesday, gold jumped to a new record high pushing further past $2,000 as the dollar tumbled on U.S. Treasury yields falling to fresh all time lows, and expectations of more stimulus measures for the pandemic-ravaged global economy.

 

S&P futures rose and European stocks climbed to a one-week high as investors focused on U.S.-China trade discussions and American lawmakers making progress on an economic aid package.

 

U.S. stock futures rose on Wednesday after Disney squeezed out a quarterly profit despite taking a $5-billion charge due to the pandemic, while investors awaited data on private payrolls and the service sector to gauge the countryโ€™s economic health. Square rallied in the pre-market trading as revenue surged. Moderna Inc rose 2.3% ahead of its quarterly results. Activision Blizzard raised its full-year forecast for adjusted sales encouraged by a pandemic-driven surge in gaming. Its shares fell 1.4% after closing at a record high on Tuesday.

 

Investors had been concerned about signs that the U.S. economic activity is stalling amid a surge in COVID-19 infections in parts of the country, strengthening the case for more fiscal aid, although with the S&P just shy of all time highs, clearly these concerns have eased. White House negotiators on Tuesday vowed to work โ€œaround the clockโ€ with congressional Democrats to try to reach a deal on coronavirus relief package by the end of this week.

 

Pressure is growing on Republicans and Democrats to resolve differences over a new U.S. virus relief package. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the goal is to strike a deal on legislation by the end of the weekโ€ฆ

Summary of Settlement Terms

On Sunday, The Sun newspaper reported that Boris Johnsonโ€™s government has already approved the decision and that the government would announce the arrangement this week.

 

A spokesman for the Prime Minister told the BBC on Monday that the move would be a โ€œcommercial oneโ€ but added that Mr Johnson has yet to discuss the matter with President Donald Trump.

 

President Trump announced on Monday that he would be giving TikTok owner ByteDance the ultimatum to sell the app to Microsoft within 45 days or face a ban from operating in the United States. Microsoft confirmed that it would open acquisition talks with the company, to take over the operations in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand โ€” but did not mention the United Kingdom.

 

The Beijing-based company said that the decision by President Trump forced the company to rethink the location of the TikTok headquarters, which was set to be either located in California or New York. The firm said that it has yet to make a final decision, but confirmed to the BBC that London was on the shortlist of possible places.

 

โ€œIn light of the current situation, ByteDance has been evaluating the possibility of establishing TikTokโ€™s headquarters outside of the U.S., to better serve our global users,โ€ the Chinese company said in a statement.

Grand Jury Charges Ed Buck with Four Additional Felonies, Including that He Enticed Victims to Travel Interstate to Engage in Prostitution

 

LOS ANGELES โ€“ A federal grand jury today returned a superseding indictment charging Edward Buck with four additional felonies, including that he allegedly enticed victims โ€“ including a man who died at his West Hollywood apartment after he administered drugs to him โ€“ to travel interstate to engage in prostitution.

 

Buck, 65, was arrested in September 2019 after being charged in United States District Court with providing methamphetamine to a man who died after receiving the drug intravenously. Since that time, federal authorities have continued to investigate Buck for additional crimes.

 

The four additional counts charged today โ€“ bringing the total number of charges in this case to nine counts โ€“ include one count alleging that Buck knowingly enticed 26-year-old Gemmel Moore to travel to the Los Angeles area to engage in prostitution. Buck allegedly provided methamphetamine to Moore, who overdosed on the drug and died on July 27, 2017.

 

Buck also is charged with another count of enticing another man to travel with the intent of engaging in prostitution.

 

The superseding indictment also charges Buck with one count of knowingly and intentionally distributing methamphetamine, and one count of using his residence for the purpose of distributing narcotics such as methamphetamine, and the sedatives gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) and clonazepam.

 

Last year, a federal grand jury returned a five-count indictment charging that Buck โ€œengaged in a pattern of soliciting men to consume drugs that Buck provided and perform sexual acts at Buckโ€™s apartment,โ€ which is a practice described as โ€œparty and play.โ€ Buck allegedly solicited victims on social media platforms, including a gay dating website, and used a recruiter to scout and proposition men.

 

Once the men were at his apartment, Buck allegedly prepared syringes containing methamphetamine, sometimes personally injecting the victims with or without their consent, according to the indictment. Buck also allegedly injected victims with more narcotics than they expected and sometimes injected victims while they were unconscious.

 

Another victim, Timothy Dean also suffered a fatal overdose in Buckโ€™s apartment, on January 7, 2019, the indictment alleges.

 

Buck is scheduled to go to trial in this matter on January 19, 2021. His arraignment on the first superseding indictment is expected in the coming weeks.

 

An indictment contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in court.

 

Each of the charges alleging the distribution of narcotics resulting in death carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a maximum penalty of life without parole. The four new charges carry a statutory maximum sentence of 60 years in federal prison.

 

Buck also faces charges, including operating a drug house, that were filed last year by the Los Angeles County District Attorneyโ€™s Office. Buck is currently being held in federal custody without bond, and the federal case is expected to proceed first.

 

The federal case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Los Angeles County Sheriffโ€™s Department and the FBI. The investigation is being conducted with the support of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

 

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Chelsea C. Norell and Brittney M. Harris of the International Narcotics, Money Laundering, and Racketeering Section.

Is the author trying to hide his envy and resentment at the fact he didn't grow muscular from all the years others spent exercising?

To recognize that outcomes can be unequal based on differences in individual effort is not wrong, it is who we are as humans. When one person chooses to eat a poor diet, only they get diabetes and heart disease, rather than everyone getting sick. Is that 'inequality' unjust?
