The novel coronavirus has infected more than 26.35 million people, with just four countries accounting for over 15 million cases. They are the United States, Brazil, India and Russia โ€” the same four that have been at the top for months. The US surprised the world when it rose to the top spot in multiple COVID-19 statistics, both for the total number of confirmed cases and the number of deaths. Since then, no other country has surpassed America.

But scientists who are studying the pandemic have also identified another surprise of the pandemic. Some expected the African continent to be affected most heavily by the virus, but that wasnโ€™t the case. South Africa stands out when it comes to the number of total cases, with nearly 631,000 infections. But fewer than 15,000 people have died of COVID-19. These figures are puzzling scientists looking to understand how the virus behaves and how it can be beaten.

The hypothesis that poverty should have a significant impact on the spread of the virus doesnโ€™t stand when it comes to the entire African continent. Developing countries like Brazil and India showed that the virus couldnโ€™t be contained once it reached densely populated, but poor, neighborhoods.

Experts expected the same thing to happen in Africa, but it didnโ€™t. If anything, Africa is doing better than any other continent, both when it comes to cases and casualties. As BBC News explains, even if those numbers are significantly underreported, Africa still has it much better than other continents right now.

โ€œI thought we were heading towards a disaster, a complete meltdown,โ€ Professor Shabir Madhi told BBC News. The UKโ€™s top virologist echoed what others must have thought about the African coronavirus outbreak. But South Africaโ€™s death rate is almost seven times lower than in the UK.

Salim Abdool Karim, the head of the countryโ€™s COVID-19 response team, told the BBC that โ€œmost African countries donโ€™t have a peak,โ€ which is surprising. โ€œI donโ€™t understand why. Iโ€™m completely at sea,โ€ he added.

He explained that factors like population density would be a critical factor that would favor the rapid spread of the illness inside the African continent. Crowding in poverty-stricken areas makes social distancing all but impossible, and that increases the risk of COVID-19 spreading.

One hypothesis that can explain the disparity between Africa and other continents concerns the overall age of the population. In general, the population of Africa is younger than in regions hardest-hit by COVID-19.

Another hypothesis will sound familiar to those who have been following coronavirus developments closely. Some researchers have shown that other human coronaviruses that cause common colds can elicit an immune response that could provide protection against COVID-19. South African researchers went to work on that idea, attempting to analyze five-year-old blood samples that were conserved from a flu vaccine trial in Soweto. The plan was to look for any evidence that would explain why the African continent is faring much better against the illness than others. Those samples were compromised by technical issues that put a stop to the research.

But the idea stands. The same crowded neighborhoods that would lead to the quick spread of other coronaviruses may have protected the population from SARS-CoV-2.

โ€œItโ€™s a hypothesis. Some level of pre-existing cross-protective immunity โ€ฆ might explain why the epidemic didnโ€™t unfold [the way it did in other parts of the world],โ€ Mahdi said. โ€œThe protection might be much more intense in highly populated areas, in African settings. It might explain why the majority [on the continent] have asymptomatic or mild infections.โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t think of anything else that would explain the numbers of completely asymptomatic people weโ€™re seeing. The numbers are completely unbelievable,โ€ he said.

But if that hypothesis is true, why have Brazil and India seen massive COVID-19 surges in the past few months? Karim warned that even considering the evolution of the pandemic on the continent so far, Africa isnโ€™t out of the woods. โ€œIโ€™m not sure whether one day the epidemic is going to spread like crazy here,โ€ he said.

Carter said this reawakening isnโ€™t just reflective of the 2016 campaign but it is evident in what is happening across the nation during the months leading up to the 2020 presidential election. This same resurgence, she said, will be a central point in the re-election of Trump this year.

A brave and bold black YouTuber marched down a busy street in the outskirts of San Francisco chanting โ€œwhite lives matterโ€ and demanding that white people should not be made to feel guilty about the color of their skin.

 

Ironically, police were called by angry liberals.

 

In the video, first reported on by Nationalist Review, YouTuber โ€œSavage Auditsโ€ filmed himself and peopleโ€™s reactions to his commonsense statements, while also hilariously calling people who were upset by his stance โ€œlibtards.โ€

 

Savage Audits ranted about the crazy liberals who want segregation on college campuses, calling their sentiments โ€œunAmerican.โ€

When a man flipped him off, Savage Audits immediately turned to him and asked โ€œwhat, white lives donโ€™t matter, brother?โ€

 

As the activist continued down the street, he saw a young white boy with his dog. โ€œWhite lives matter young man and donโ€™t forget it. Donโ€™t let anybody put shame or guilt into you. You did nothing wrong. Slavery ended over 150 years ago,โ€ he tells him.

 

The Nationalist review notes that โ€œOne woman nodded along as Savage Audits listed the accomplishments of Europeans and others were surprised to hear that colleges have begun re-segregating certain areas of campus, like Oklahoma University chose to do earlier this month.โ€

 

โ€œItโ€™s okay to be white!โ€ he repeatedly shouts.

 

The situation grew tense when a confrontational man approached him and the activist warned him that any violence would be a huge mistake. Police were subsequently called.

Beijing Delays Visas For Journalists From WSJ, CNN & Bloomberg As President Xi Cracks Down On Dissent

 

In its latest attack on Western journalists that's part of both a broader "New Cold War" with the US, and a crackdown on dissent in the aftermath of the pandemic, engineered by President Xi, Beijing is throwing up new roadblocks to stop western journalists from Bloomberg, CNN & WSJ from remaining in China.

 

The delays were couched as retaliation for the Trump Administration's latest limitations on visa term limits for reporters working in the US on behalf of state-controlled Chinese press. These organizations have been subjected to myriad new requirements by Trump and the administration in a push to limit electoral interference from Beijing.

Chinese authorities delayed renewing the press credentials of some journalists working for American media outlets, including Bloomberg News, CNN and the Wall Street Journal, in response to the Trump administration limiting visa terms for Chinese reporters in the US.

 

The journalists in Beijing were told their residence permits will at this stage be extended until Nov. 6, which appears to coincide with the date when the 90-day visas given to Chinese press in the U.S. will need to be renewed. Two non-Americans at Bloomberg News received a letter allowing them to work and stay in the country in lieu of having official press credentials, which in the past were normally good for 12 months.

 

An organization for foreign correspondents put out a statement slamming Beijing's decision.

 

A Bloomberg spokesperson declined to comment. The Foreign Correspondentsโ€™ Club of China called on Beijing to reverse the move.

 

โ€œThese coercive practices have again turned accredited foreign journalists in China into pawns in a wider diplomatic conflict,โ€ the group said in a statement Monday. โ€œThe FCCC calls on the Chinese government to halt this cycle of tit-for-tat reprisals in what is quickly becoming the darkest year yet for media freedoms.โ€

 

A spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry played down the delays, saying all the reporters affected would be allowed to stay in China for an extended period.

 

As per usual, Beijing denounced the Trump Administration's latest crackdown on Chinese state media with characteristically aggressive rhetoric.

California (Quietly) Limits Unpopular Law That Restricted Freelancers

 

California Gov. Gavin Newsom quietly signed a law on Sept. 4 repealing parts of an unpopular law that put independent contractors in the state out of work and limited the earnings of freelancers, including visual artists, musicians, writers, translators, and film support crews by classifying them as employees.

 

The enactment of the new measure, which came after months of political and legal pressure from the trucking industry, companies such as Uber and Postmates, and groups such as the American Society of Journalists and Authors Inc. and the National Press Photographers Association, is a rare defeat for the labor movement in solidly progressive California.

 

The new law, known as AB 2257, passed both chambers of the state legislature unanimously on Aug. 31.

 

The Democratic governor announced on his website Sept. 4 that he had signed the measure but offered no explanation for why he had done so. The governorโ€™s office could not immediately be reached for comment.

 

The new law took effect immediately upon signing.

 

AB 2257 amended AB 5, which attempted to determine who is a contractor and who is an employee and forced companies to reclassify their freelancers as employees. The new law provides greater flexibility to freelancers.

 

When AB 5 took effect Jan. 1, that law made it hard for so-called gig-economy companies to classify people who work for them as independent contractors instead of employees. The idea being the measure was to prevent freelancers from being unfairly exploited by employers.

 

Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, a San Diego Democrat, wrote AB5 to implement a 2018 California Supreme Court decision known as Dynamex Operations West Inc. v. Superior Court, that deemed many freelancers to be employees, a status that entitled them to the minimum wage, overtime pay, unemployment insurance, and health benefits.

 

Employees in California are entitled to benefits not available to contractors, such as the minimum wage, health insurance, and paid time off. AB 5 was strongly backed by labor organizations critical of hard-to-unionize freelance jobs. Unions hoped the law would give them an edge in recruiting new members.

 

AB 5 was enacted ostensibly to help workers by preventing their โ€œmisclassificationโ€ as non-employees.

What is a Red Pill?

"Red pill" comes from The Matrix movie. The character has to choose between a blue pill to remain oblivious, or a red pill to awaken to the truth of his existence (he chooses the red one). Q and the anons are working to wake up all people, in order to end human trafficking and restore our Republic. And, eventually, to free other nations.

 

Why Does Q Say "Wake Up!"?

To "wake up" is to see the world with an alert mind, to question your reality, and to recognize that some of what you believed was untrue. What is Censorship?
