Amid Capitol riot fallout, Michigan lawmaker says legislature's election inquiry will continue

Members of the Michigan legislature will continue their inquiry into reported irregularities in the 2020 election, a state lawmaker revealed this week, despite growing pressure to abandon further scrutiny of the 2020 presidential election results amid fallout from the recent Capitol riot.

 

The riot at the U.S. Capitol came amid a pro-Trump "Stop the Steal" rally to protest the certification of Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election. Trump himself spoke at the rally, urging participants to "show strength" and "be strong" in their protests of the certification.

 

Though the president stressed that the protests should be done "peacefully and patriotically," the mayhem that numerous rally attendees soon generated at the Capitol has been laid mostly at his feet by many, with Democrats and pundits claiming the riot was largely spurred by his months-long insistence that the election was stolen from him.

 

In recent weeks, meanwhile — and particularly since the chaos at the Capitol — pressure has been growing for Americans to cease questioning the results of 2020. In mid-December, New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said politicians who were questioning the 2020 results were "bordering on sedition and treason." Earlier in the month, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro claimed a Texas lawsuit challenging the election results was itself "seditious."

 

YouTube shortly after the Capitol chaos, meanwhile, announced enhanced penalties for anyone who posts what the company deems "false claims" about the U.S. election results. And in Wisconsin, one teacher was recently suspended reportedly for directing his students to watch a video questioning the 2020 results.

 

And on Jan. 3, "all 10 living former defense secretaries" claimed that "the time for questioning the results has passed," citing the "unbroken record of such transitions since 1789."

 

In Michigan, inquest will continue

 

Yet though that pressure will likely intensify up to and beyond Joe Biden's inauguration later this month, lawmakers in Michigan will continue inquiries into that state's handling of this year's presidential race.

 

Daire Rendon, who represents Michigan's District 103 in the state House, confirmed to Just the News that the investigations teed up by the Michigan legislature last month will continue after state lawmakers convene on Wednesday.

 

"I have spoken with [House Oversight Committee] Chair Matt Hall," Rendon, a Republican, told Just the News. "It is his goal to continue the oversight hearing on the election."

 

Rendon noted that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has placed "a lot of restrictions" on how lawmakers can meet in the state capitol.

Day of the Poodle? Tony Blair Reportedly Set to Make 'De Gaulle-Style' Political Comeback

 

General Charles de Gaulle returned to power in the 1958 military coup d'etat that overthrew the French Fourth Republic, but resigned 11 years later after a series of assassination attempts, mass strikes and protests. Blair was forced out in 2007 after squandering his popularity on following the US into the Afghan and Iraq wars.

 

Former British prime minister Tony Blair is allegedly planning a return to politics like that of late French president Charles de Gaulle — on the back of the COVID-19 crisis.

 

The Sunday Times newspaper reported that Blair has been secretly advising current PM Boris Johnson's Health Minister Matt Hancock on his approach to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Hancock refused to deny the report, saying only: "I talk to all sorts of people and we take ideas from lots of sources."

 

Last month Blair called for delaying booster shots of COVID-19 vaccines until all high-risk individuals had been given a first dose, on the basis that more would then have at least partial immunity — an idea which has since been adopted as government policy.

Veteran Capitol cop reportedly commits suicide days after DC riot

 

 

A veteran US Capitol Police officer has died by suicide, authorities and reports said Sunday, a further blow to a department already reeling from the death of a member during last week’s riot.

 

Officer Howard Liebengood, 51, died on Saturday while off-duty, the department announced in a statement.

 

“He was assigned to the Senate Division, and has been with the Department since April 2005,” the statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and colleagues.

 

“We ask that his family, and other USCP officers’ and their families’ privacy be respected during this profoundly difficult time.”

 

The department did not disclose the circumstances of Liebengood’s death, but outlets and reporters including Jake Sherman, of Punchbowl News, said that the lawman took his own life, citing sources.

 

It was not immediately clear what spurred the act.

 

Liebengood’s death came as the department was still mourning Officer Brian Sicknick, who was pepper-sprayed and fatally bludgeoned with a fire extinguisher when supporters of President Trump stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday in a futile attempt to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.

 

It was not immediately clear if Liebengood, like Sicknick, was on-duty at the time of the deadly riot.

 

The department itself is under intense scrutiny for the ease with which the mob overwhelmed Capitol Police and forced their way into the seat of American democracy.

 

Chief Steven Sund has announced his resignation from the force, effective Jan. 16.

IED Attacks Targeted Three US-led Coalition Convoys In Iraq

 

On January 9, three logistic supply convoys of the US-led coalition came under attack in Iraq’s central and southern regions.

 

The first coalition convoy was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the central city of Hilla. No human losses were reported as a result of the attack.

 

The Sabereen News, a Telegram channel with links to Shiite armed groups, said a faction dubbed the “International Resistance” had claimed responsibility for the attack. The faction was behind an attack on a coalition supply convoy in the city of Samarra on January 4.

 

The second and third convoys were attacked in the southern Iraqi city of al-Nasiriyah. Both convoy were targeted with IEDs. The attacks didn’t result in any human losses.

 

Another attack was reportedly foiled by security forces on January 10. An Iraqi security source told the al-Ain News TV that an IED, which was planted on the al-Muthanna-Dhi Qar highway to target a supply convoy of the US-led coalition, was removed.

 

On January 9, a logistical convoy of the U.S military was targeted by an IED attack in Hillah area.

The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh al-Fayyad.

On January 9, a new antigovernment protest erupted in Nasiriyah city. Five people were arrested and two were killed in the protests.

I lived in OZ for 100s of years and saw the transformation from a carefree and relaxed country in the 80s to an authoritarian fascist place hell hole.

I concluded, way back when, that it was the proving ground for what I then termed the NWO, but now am quite content to refer to it as the Deep State, as I saw events like the Port Arthur massacre and subsequent gun grab, the deregulation the banking sector whereby everyone was forced to have a bank account followed by the inevitable mass imposition of new fees, etc, etc, all being deployed and rolled out in other countries.

Many are aware of the Apollo at Delphi inscription and associate it as words of wisdom, after all, the Temple at Delphi was at the center of global intelligence. Kings, emperors, statesmen, generals from all quarters of the ancient world would travel to the Temple with a very generous payment in gold in hopes that the wisdom of the great god Apollo would be bestowed on them and give strength and power to their particular cause.

 

One of the most famous prophecies made by the Cult of Delphi, according to the ancient historian Herodotus, was to King Croesus of Lydia. King Croesus was a very rich king and the last bastion of the Ionian cities against the increasing Persian power in Anatolia. King Croesus wished to know whether he should continue his military campaign deeper into Persian Empire territory and whether he should seek a military alliance in such a feat.

 

According to Herodotus, the amount of gold King Croesus delivered was the greatest ever bestowed upon the Temple of Apollo. In return the priestess of Delphi, otherwise known as the Oracle, (some poor young girl selected once a year with the “right attributes”) would spout nonsensical babble, intoxicated by the gas vapours of the chasm she was conveniently placed over. The priests would then “translate” the Oracle’s prophecy.

 

King Croesus was told as his prophecy-riddle, “If Croesus goes to war he will destroy a great empire.” Croesus was also told to ally himself with the most powerful Greek state, and he chose Sparta. Croesus was overjoyed and thought his victory solid and immediately began working towards building his military campaign against Persia. Long story short, Croesus lost everything and Lydia was taken over by the Persians. The Spartans never showed up.

 

It turns out the prophecy-riddle was not wrong, but that Croesus mistook which great empire would fall.

 

There is likely a great deal of truth in this story. And the words inscribed at the Temple of Apollo “Know Thyself, Nothing to Excess, Surety Brings Ruin” becomes more a foreboding to anyone who dares enter such a Temple in search of wisdom and power; those who are “worthy” of the god Apollo will have the wisdom to solve the riddle of their prophecy and will prevail, those unworthy of Apollo’s “good graces” will fail and be ruined.

 

It’s a nice story, but it is in fact, a brilliant cover for a global intelligence racket.

 

The Cult of Delphi was indeed the nerve center of military and political intelligence that had no “allegiance” to any state or empire, but rather was able to use intel that they collected with their network of spies, along with intel they were given by those foolish enough to layout their plans (and their gold) to them. The priests of Delphi would then decide thereupon what information needed to be shared with what target to fit their purpose, a “prophecy” that they shaped, like moving pawns on a chessboard.

 

The question for those who dared visit the Cult of Delphi was thus not so much about having enough wisdom to solve the veiled prophecy, but rather, ‘What kind of pawn are you to the priests of Apollo?’

Yes, I believe it was a blackout. I travel to Rome for work. I have even had a private tour by the Art Curator (ie: Michelangelo’s old job) in the lower catacombs where old Popes were just rotting out in the open on granite slabs. They have parishioners 24/7/365. They NEVER turn out all the lights. There is security everywhere and for no other reason than not being liable for someone falling in the dark, it makes no sense to kill all the lights all night. And yes, I also have walked by under the Pope’s apartment and it is by the left entrance only 50 yards from a public area. He walked across the drive right in front of us and they hadn’t checked our id’s yet at the entry gate. Would be VERY easy for a military team to take him.

Dr. Charles Lieber, 60, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, was arrested this morning and charged by criminal complaint with one count of making a materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statement.  

Yanqing Ye, 29, a Chinese national, was charged in an indictment today with one count each of visa fraud, making false statements, acting as an agent of a foreign government and conspiracy. Ye is currently in China. 

Zaosong Zheng, 30, a Chinese national, was arrested on Dec. 10, 2019, at Boston’s Logan International Airport and charged by criminal complaint with attempting to smuggle 21 vials of biological research to China.  On Jan. 21, 2020, Zheng was indicted on one count of smuggling goods from the United States and one count of making false, fictitious or fraudulent statements.  He has been detained since Dec. 30, 2019.

But even more importantly and relevant, the work Lieber did at Harvard is connected to Wuhan.

"According to court documents, since 2008, Dr. Lieber who has served as the Principal Investigator of the Lieber Research Group at Harvard University, which specialized in the area of nanoscience, has received more than $15,000,000 in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense (DOD).  These grants require the disclosure of significant foreign financial conflicts of interest, including financial support from foreign governments or foreign entities," DOJ reveals.

Three Boston area researchers/educators have been indicted on charges that they lied regarding ties to a Wuhan, China technology institute. One of them was in possession of 21 vials of brown liquid that he was seemingly illegally transporting to China (more on him at the conclusion).

And I think the single most important thing that Republicans in Congress who helped facilitate this widespread conspiracy theory that somehow the election was stolen- and the most important thing that President Trump can do in these remaining 10 days is to stop those lies and to persuade their followers and supporters that President-elect Biden is the duly elected president of the United States. That’s what Mike Pence certified on Wednesday night once we returned to the Capitol. That’s what Senators Blunt and Klobuchar certified. That’s an important next step if we are, in fact, going to have any healing.

Opposition lawmakers clashed on the floor of Ghana’s parliament in Accra on Wednesday night, prompting a military intervention by at least 20 Ghanaian soldiers, Africa News reported on Thursday.

 

Footage of the hours-long brawl broadcast live on Ghanaian state television showed legislators “pushing and shoving” each other before nearly two dozen soldiers entered the parliament chamber to try and restore order.

 

“Ranks of MPs [members of parliament] then faced each other and chanted over a dividing line of masked soldiers and police,” according to the report.

 

“In one of the footages, a lawmaker was punched by opposition but rescued by his colleagues [sic],” Nigeria’s Punch newspaper reported on Thursday.

 

“A female lawmaker was also seen pushing one of her male counterparts aggressively,” according to Punch.

 

Prior to the chaotic outburst, Ghanaian legislators had been voting to choose the West African nation’s next parliamentary speaker. The fighting erupted after a lawmaker from Ghana’s ruling, right-wing New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly “tried to seize the ballot box,” according to Africa News.

 

“There was total breakdown of law and order,” Ghanaian Minister of Parliament-elect Kwame Twumasi Ampofo told Agence France-Presse of the melee.

 

“Looking at a member of parliament and a minister of state snatching ballot papers. … was so shameful,” the opposition lawmaker added.

 

After Ghanaian security forces restored order to the parliament chamber on Wednesday, the legislature elected a member of the country’s opposition party, the left-wing National Democratic Congress (NDC), as Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament. Veteran Ghanaian politician Alban Bagbin made history as Ghana’s first Speaker of Parliament not selected by the country’s ruling party. The feat was “a first in Ghana’s nearly 63-year post-independence history,” according to Punch.

 

Ghana’s general election last month “left a hung parliament, without a dominant party to push through the appointment of speaker and other key posts,” Reuters noted on Thursday. The presidential election saw NPP leader Nana Akufo-Addo declared the winner with 51.59 percent of the vote, ahead of his opponent and former Ghanaian President John Mahama. The December 7 election results were disputed by opposition leader Mahama. Lingering tension over the vote contributed to Wednesday’s brawl in parliament.

 

The Ghanaian Police Service said on December 9 that “five people had been killed from electoral violence” following the release of the general election’s results. “Twenty-one of the incidents are true cases of electoral violence, six of which involve gunshots resulting in the death of five,” the federal security force said.

Jan. 8 (UPI) – A cat that escaped from her owner at a security checkpoint in New York's LaGuardia Airport was returned to the distraught traveler after spending 11 days hiding in the hub's ceiling.

 

Taylor Le said she was in the process of moving from New York to Orange County, Calif., when she booked a Christmas Eve flight for herself and her 6-year-old cat, Muji.

 

Le said TSA agents had her remove Muji from her carrier at the security checkpoint, despite her protestations that the feline was likely to flee. Le said Muji panicked, as she had predicted, and led her owner and airport staff on a chase that ended when the cat climbed a series of platforms to a ceiling enclosure and disappeared inside.

 

The Queens Lost & Found Pets group received word of Muji's plight from Le's Facebook post, and pet-flying advocacy group Where Is Jack? Inc. became involved and helped Le arrange for a tracking dog to visit the airport.

 

The dog, a golden retriever named Abby, indicated Muji was still in the ceiling, and Le caught a flight back to New York.

 

She attempted to lure the cat out of the ceiling, but Muji didn't emerge. Finally, 11 days after the cat had fled from security, Le received word that she had emerged and been safely caught in a trap.

 

Le said Muji was taken to an animal hospital in Long Island, and she was reunited with her pet. The duo are scheduled to fly to California on Saturday.

 

"This time, I have a TSA harness for her, and I'm going to insist on having a private screening," Le told the New York Post.

Iran Hails 'Victory' While Tankers & Cargo Ships Continue Arriving At Venezuelan Port

 

At a moment Washington D.C. is locked into a very different drama, Iranian state media is hailing 'victory' after late last week an Iranian cargo ship successfully made it to Venezuelan port and thus past the US blockade on the country.

 

The Iranian-flagged general cargo ship Golsan had left Iran in November at has arrived at the Venezuelan port of La Guaira. It's unknown exactly what the vessel was transporting but it's believed to have been laden with cargo to supply Caracas' first Iranian supermarket.

 

This comes at a moment the Trump administration has promised to prevent multiple Iranian fuel laden ships from discharging in Venezuela, now crossing the Atlantic.

 

As Reuters explains, "Iran has been supplying gasoline to ease fuel shortages in Venezuela caused by decay of the South American nation’s refineries and worsened by sanctions. It has also shipped food to help the government of President Nicolas Maduro."

 

While Venezuela is rich in crude, its derelict refineries can't process it into badly needed gasoline for domestic consumption. So while it continues to export its oil, it must rely on allies like Iran and Russia to bring fuel.

 

The Islamic Republic is also said to be helping Maduro's Venezuela circumvent severe US sanctions on its oil exports. Iranian supertankers in recent months have been observed transporting Venezuelan crude while under 'disguise' - that is, renaming a vessel to conceal its sourcing and true ownership.

 

Ships have also used 'ghosting' - or switching off their tracking transponders in certain waters where they are more subject to intercept by US forces.

Official story is airspace of certain altitudes cleared b/c ATC had to be handed off to other centers (and planes had to change paths) b/c a Va. airport got covid so their tower shut down.
