Vice President Mike Pence, along with other top Republican lawmakers, will not attend a formal send-off ceremony for President Donald Trump scheduled ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration Wednesday, according to a report.

The Hill reports:

Trump will leave the base around 8 a.m. on Wednesday for Florida. Officials are planning a formal ceremony for the president, who is declining to attend his successor’s inauguration in a break with more than a century of tradition. Pence is slated to attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, and as a result will not be at the Air Force base. Officials cited the logistical challenges of getting between the two. Biden is scheduled to be sworn in at noon on Wednesday. The top two Republicans in Congress — House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — are also not planning to attend Trump’s send off.

Those who are slated to attend the event include President Trump’s family, closest aides, and allies. It is unclear how many people will attend.

The report comes as McConnell and McCarthy have sought to distance themselves from President Trump over this month’s deadly riots on the U.S. Capitol. Earth Tuesday, McConnell said in a Senate speech that the January 6 siege was “provoked by the president and other powerful people.”

“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people, and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding… which they did not like,” McConnell stated. “But we pressed on, we stood together and said an angry mob would not get veto power over the rule of law in our nation.”

Last week, the House of Representatives impeached President Trump for a second time, this time in a bipartisan vote, charging him with “incitement of insurrection.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has yet to announce when she will send the article of impeachment to the Senate, allowing the upper chamber to begin its trial.

McConnell has said he had “not made a final decision on how I will vote.”

There's speculation that President Trump is having a send off tomorrow at 8AM ET at Andrews. Does he fly out prior to noon ET on AF1? It's only AF1 for him while he's onboard, before Biden is sworn in.

Like the last time, Pelosi is hanging on to the articles of impeachment, if for nothing else, to insure Trump leaves office. (Yes, the Senate has not been in session for a while, but still…)

As several Constitutional scholars have said, they cannot impeach someone who no longer holds the office.

So Trump leaves office to negate Nancy's hold card, then who knows. I won't speculate beyond.

It certainly looks like the military would be the way forward, assuming any "plan" is still in play. We don't know, and again, I won't speculate.

I don't trust the people around BiteMe. He's their puppet in all this and once they have a Presidential line of succession to their liking, ol' Joe could be expendable. 25th Amendment or otherwise.

Durham's still out there as a Special Counsel, but I don't put it past the demoncrats to just fire his ass and to hell with any backlash. Once they think they have control, they'll feel untouchable.

Unless you run it yourself, there is no such thing as a secure VPN. And even then, it's "iffy". TOR was provably broken back when they refused to expand the number of hops to a user selected number or to implement random hops (one time a single hop, 11 milliseconds later 42, the next packet 9 with zero delay at the origination point and so on … both packet timing and the number of hops have to be independently random and draw from a fairly large space). McConnell-Schumer Close to Striking a Deal on Power-Sharing in the Senate

The current majority and minority leaders of the Senate are hashing out the details of an agreement on power-sharing in the Senate that would make the business of legislating a little more organized, if not easier.

With a 50-50 split of senators between the two parties, getting anything done will be a nightmare of procedural votes and challenges. By agreeing on sharing certain powers, the two leaders hope to make the gridlock more manageable.

The negotiations have been built around how the Senate operated the last time there was a 50-50 split in 2001. At that time, it was Republican Dan Quayle serving as vice president, holding the deciding vote.

Similar to those rules, set in January 2001, Schumer and McConnell aides are discussing allowing bills and nominations to advance to the Senate floor even if they are tied during committee votes, something that could become common given that each party is expected to have the same number of seats on committees.

Democrats will hold the chairmanships of the committees, giving them power to set the agenda, and Schumer will be granted the title of majority leader since Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will cast tiebreaking votes on the floor.

Giving Republicans equal representation on committees doesn’t mean a lot — especially since a bill that didn’t pass the full committee can be brought to the floor anyway if the committee vote was tied. Besides, there’s always an off chance that a Democratic renegade will swing the vote the GOP’s way. Of course, there’s a similar scenario if a Republican on a committee decides to cross the aisle and vote with the Democrats. There will be enormous pressure on committee chairs and ranking minority members to keep their members in line.

But nothing can be accomplished until all 100 senators have been sworn in.

Democrats are still waiting for the seating of the two new Georgia Democrats — Sens.-elect Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff — who won their runoff races this month. Georgia election officials had expected the certification process to be completed by Tuesday, and if it is, it’s possible the two senators could take their oaths and be sworn in that day, according to Democratic sources.

Harris resigned her Senate seat on Monday, and will soon be replaced by Democrat Alex Padilla. It’s still uncertain when Padilla will be sworn into office.

Two of those three Democrats are replacing conservative Republicans and Padilla is more radical than Harris. The Senate is not only going to be Democratic, but it’s also going to be the most liberal it’s ever been.

But the Senate was designed to allow the minority to throw a monkey wrench into the legislative works. McConnell has proven himself to be a canny leader with an encyclopedic knowledge of Senate rules and the ability to use them to Republicans’ advantage.

Schumer is going to be busy trying to keep several factions of radicals happy and on the reservation. It will be interesting to watch how the two men navigate this minefield of a divided Senate.
