SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – A well-known international nonprofit that's promoted service work to more than 400,000 California students and has been highly endorsed by Gov. Gavin Newsom is being investigated in Canada.

A Parliamentary committee investigating WE Charity held a hearing Thursday about the nonprofit's business dealings. The charity became scrutinized after receiving a $900 million COVID contract in June to oversee a student service grant in Canada intended to help students with volunteering.

A similar program already existed.

"We all stopped and said wait… what?" said Charlie Angus, a Canadian member of Parliament, who sits on a committee investigating WE Charity for the past eight months.

"It didn't make sense."

What is WE Charity?

WE Charity, formerly known as Free the Children, was founded in Canada in 1995 by two brothers, Craig and Marc Kielburger. It started as a club to ban child labor but transformed into one of the world's largest international nonprofits aimed to empower youth around the world.

"We want you to be empowered with whatever causes or issues you care about," the brothers said at a 2015 fundraiser in California.

More than 100 big corporations around the world have donated millions of dollars to the organization including, Google, Microsoft, Allstate, and Disney – the parent company of ABC7.

WE Charity in California

WE Charity officially launched in California in 2014. Gavin Newsom, who was lieutenant governor at the time, tweeted on March 26 of that year to welcome the charity's first statewide fundraiser "WE Day California" hosted inside the Oakland arena.

16,000 students from hundreds of schools across the state packed inside to watch celebrities like Selena Gomez, Orlando Bloom, and Seth Rogan perform sharing inspirational messages.

"You are changing the world," said Gomez to a crowd. "That's amazing."

In order to attend, students needed to do local and global acts of service. A common one was raising money to build schools for underprivileged kids in Kenya and Ecuador.

On March 12, 2021, the Kielburger brothers testified under oath they paid Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's family nearly a half-million dollars in speaking fees for WE Day events.

I'd like to commit to 100 schools around the world. 100 schools," Oprah Winfrey said in an interview with the Kielburger brothers.

Since the brothers appeared on Oprah in 2000, WE Charity claims 1,500 schools and school rooms have been built across the world with funds. But, the nonprofit has been unable to provide a list of each location to the Parliamentary committee.

The second seizure occurred on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Camino Real International Bridge II after a CBP officer referred a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado for a secondary inspection. The vehicle was driven by a 60-year-old male Mexican citizen who applied for entry into the United States from Mexico. Following a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, CBP officers discovered a total of 17 packages containing 17.9 pounds of alleged methamphetamine concealed within two ice chests inside the vehicle.

 

Both seizures have a combined estimated street value of $1,832,463.

 

CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicles. The first case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation. CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 11.37 pounds of alleged cocaine.

 

The second seizure took place on Friday, Apr. 2, at the Gateway International Bridge when an 18-year-old female United States citizen from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, applied for entry into the United States as a pedestrian. The traveler was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection. While in the secondary inspection area, CBP officers discovered three packages hidden under the woman’s clothing. CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 2.22 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.

 

The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizures is approximately $87,720 and $44,532 respectively.

 

CBP officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and the pedestrian and turned them over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.

Biden’s DHS Budget: More $$ for Migrants and Lawyers, No $$ for the Wall

 

President Joe Biden’s first budget for border security would discard unspent funds for the border wall and then spend extra money to legalize more migrants and launch more investigations of immigration enforcement officers.

 

The pro-migration budget request to Congress was announced Friday by the administration, which said it wants $52 billion for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from October 2021 to September 2022.

 

The request is short on details, but it asks Congress to take back money appropriated in prior years for the construction of the border wall:

 

The discretionary request includes no additional funding for border wall construction and proposes the cancellation of prior-year balances that are unobligated at the end of 2021.

 

Biden’s deputies have halted the border wall’s construction, even though many of the gaps used by migrants could be closed by the unspent money that Congress allocated in 2019 and 2020 to the construction of the border wall. More than $1 billion of allocated funds has not been obligated to contractors.

 

The Biden budget does not ask for extra funds to hire more agents to block and deport the current surge of roughly one million migrants seeking access to Americans’ jobs, wages, and schools.

 

But the Biden request does ask for extra money to ensure that more border agents and enforcement officers can face threatened or real investigation of claimed crimes:

White House Eases US Officials' Ability To Freely Meet With Taiwan Counterparts

 

On Friday the White House issued a statement on spiraling tensions with China over the Taiwan issue, saying that the US is "not looking for confrontation with China" but that it's concerned over Beijing's "potentially destabilizing" actions in the region.

But in terms of avoiding "confrontation" - another announcement Friday all but ensures that confrontation is exactly what we're headed toward: the Biden admin has just opened up the ability of American officials to freely meet with their Taiwan counterparts.

 

While for decades the US has maintained stringent rules and restrictions on its own diplomats and officials regarding such meetings in accord with keeping its 'One China' policy, these have now been largely lifted.

 

FT relates the following details in the wake of Friday's published guidelines: "US officials will be able to meet more freely with their Taiwanese counterparts under new Biden administration guidelines, the latest move by the White House aimed at checking increased aggression by Beijing in the region."

Mexico Tells Biden: Expect β€˜Constant and Growing’ Migration

 

More migrants are coming to the United States, and the solution is more U.S. foreign aid to Central America, says Mexico’s foreign minister.

 

β€œIf you look at the region from different points of view, but especially demographics and economics, it is clear the flows are going to be constant and growing in coming years,” said foreign secretary Marcelo Ebrard, according to an Associated Press April 8 report.

I'm glad Hoback did this. All three are some pretty eccentric, strange damn people and it was educating and amusing at times to learn about them. Plus delving into what transpired between Jim and Freddie with 8chan, the falling out between the two and what ensued afterwards. The fucking drama that Freddie caused to his detriment, necessitating him having to flee the Philippines to avoid an indictment all because he didn't want to be associated with the board after the mass shootings with those insane motherfuckers dropping their shitpost there. I can't blame him but all he had to say is it ain't mine anymore and I don't have anything to do with it. Finish. Instead he goes on a rampage to smear all. Youthful idiocy and he suffered the consequences of these stupid decisions.

 

All in all, I think Mr. Hoback did a pretty fair job at "investigating and reporting" instead of making it all up and painting the op as some wild eyed, extreme, right winged, tinfoil hat conspiracy prank on the internet with a msdnc agenda to lie and misinform people about the Q phenomenon. Multi-day sex trafficking sting nets 144 arrests across San Diego County

 

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) β€” More than 140 men were arrested during a four-day sex trafficking sting across San Diego County.

 

Authorities said Friday that "Operation Century Week" netted 144 arrests and charges of solicitation of prostitution from April 5 to 8. The operation, targeting sex buyers and traffickers, was conducted by the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF) and in partnership with officers from San Diego Sheriff's, Chula Vista, Escondido, and San Diego Police departments.

 

Officers worked undercover, at various hotels, and on social media to target potential sex trafficking suspects and buyers, according to SDSO Lt. Nancy Blanco.

The archival documents and photographs were published earlier this week in a section of the ministry's website titled β€˜Not Subject to Oblivion’.

 

The publication comes ahead of the International Day of the Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camp Prisoners, which is commemorated annually on 11 April and pays tribute to an uprising at the Buchenwald death camp.

 

The ministry pointed out that the publication is a continuation of the MoD’s activities aimed at β€œsafeguarding and protecting historical truth, as well as countering falsifications of history, and attempts to revise the results of World War II”.

 

One of the documents refers to a POW camp near Stalingrad, where up to 1,500 Soviet soldiers were tortured. After the camp was liberated by Red Army soldiers, they found a platform there that was β€œfully covered in blood”.

 

Another document declassifies bloody events that took place in a village in Ukraine’s Chernigov region on 23 February 1943, where the Nazis executed 28 collective farm families.

 

A whole array of the documents is related to Nazis’ atrocities in concentration camps, including the Auschwitz death camp, which is described as a β€œman-made hell”.

All the materials have been declassified and published within the framework of the federal project "For an indefinite term”, implemented at the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

β€œThe information published on the Russian MoD’s website may be restrictive and is not recommended for persons who have not reached the age of majority,” the MoD said.

ST. CLOUD (WJON) – Fire crews were called to a fire at the St. Cloud Children’s Home early Wednesday.

 

Battalion Chief Steve Richardson says they were able to keep the fire contained to the building where the fire is believed to have started. Firefighters were on the scene for some time working to make sure there were no hot spots. It’s not believed there were any injuries.

 

The cause of the fire is not known yet.

 

Catholic Charities has been a longtime tenant of the St. Cloud Children’s Home owned by the Diocese of St. Cloud. However, the Diocese sold the property in the fall of 2020.

 

In preparation for the transition to new ownership, Catholic Charities relocated the last of their programs to a new location in Sauk Rapids in December.

Welcome to the digital world in which everything you do (or don’t do) places you on an immutable list that can be used at any point in time against you.

 

Oh, and it is being done in conjunction with the government. Do you feel safer, yet?

 

Here is Zuckerberg’s April 1st message announcing his segregation plan on Facebook:

The message, on its face, is so shallow and trite. Yet, in reality, it is not at all innocuous. For the people who use Facebook, it will be an overt psychological manipulation to view their friends who are not like them as Covid enemies. Facebook likely knows this, yet will proceed with this divisive maneuver meant to highlight good vaccinated people versus the bad unvaccinated people.

According to Apple, it is totally racist for residents of Georgia to have to show proper identification before being allowed to vote. However, when it comes to allowing people to travel internationally without a Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) β€œvaccine passport,” Apple says not a chance.

Virgin Atlantic to trial Apple’s vaccine passport app starting on April 16

 

One of the first airlines to test out the new app is U.K.-based Virgin Atlantic. Virgin will trial the app on all U.K.-Barbados flights starting on April 16, with collaboration from the government of Barbados which will accept the pass at its border.

 

To participate, fliers will need to download the pass to their iPhones and create a digital ID that contains a profile photograph and passport information before the relevant Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) information is uploaded and tied to a person’s identity.
