Russia responds to US media report about Ukraine embassy 'evacuation'

Moscow’s blasted the story as a “sensation” whipped up in the press

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to recent reports that Moscow has partly evacuated its embassy in Ukraine, by claiming that foreign media is unfairly spinning realty in order to paint the country as insidious.

Diplomatic spokesperson Maria Zakharova issued the response in a statement, on Tuesday, criticizing The New York Times, which broke the story based on its customary anonymous sources, for being fed by Ukrainian security services. Zakharova did not deny the claim that some diplomats had left the embassy, but she insisted that work was continuing as usual there.

“Russia’s embassy and consulate general in Ukraine are operating normally,” she wrote. “They are doing this despite attacks on Russian foreign service workers by Ukrainian radicals, and the provocations of local security forces. But the American media have not and will not cover this.”

Zakharova claimed Russia has provided evidence that its workers in Ukraine have been harassed, but that Ukrainian security services haven’t responded and American journalists have ignored the situation.

Kenneth Wollack, a Co-Chair of the Commission of Presidential Debates, participated in several “off-the-record” dialogues with Chinese Communist Party officials and influence groups, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal.

Wollack – also the Chairman of the publicly-funded National Endowment for Democracy (NED) board – was one of ten principal delegates for what was called the inaugural U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue, hosted by the EastWest Institute “in partnership” with the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The U.S. delegation was led by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, whose daughter Alice was recently tapped to run a key Biden-era foreign aid initiative despite her massive investments with the Chinese Communist Party.

“It seeks to build understanding and trust between political elites from the United States and China through an exchange of views on governance and foreign policy issues,” summarizes the think-tank.

The EastWest Institute, however, has a long track record of collaborating with premier Chinese influence groups including the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

CUSEF has also sponsored various U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue.

Given the EastWest Institute’s close ties to Beijing, Wollack’s delegation included “off-the-record” meetings with Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping and senior officials in the regime’s controversial United Front Work Department.

Supreme Court Rejects Request to Block Mask Mandates For Flights

The Supreme Court has rejected a request to stop mask mandates for air travel.

The application was filed by the father of a four-year-old autistic child, who says both he and his child have medical reasons for not being able to comply with the mask mandates.

The father’s emergency request was filed with Justice Neil Gorsuch, who sent it to the full court. It was denied without any comment or explanation.

“Joining the father-son challengers was another man, Lucas Wall, who has sought to raise money and publicity from his legal efforts targeting the federal transportation mask mandate. Chief Justice John Roberts last month unilaterally rejected a separate challenge filed by the group,” The Hill reports.

“The court’s move comes less than a week after the justices issued a split decision on another set of Biden administration pandemic mitigation measures. Last Thursday, the court voted 6-3 to block a vaccine-or-test mandate for large employers but voted 5-4 to maintain a vaccine mandate for health providers at federally funded facilities,” the report continued.

The Transportation Security Administration requires passengers to wear masks in order to comply with an executive order signed by Joe Biden.

Now 16 school divisions in Virginia are snubbing the new governor’s end to mask mandates in schools. To no one’s surprise, the Democrats are praising the insane move by these divisions.

“And the fact that tweet came out from Arlington County within minutes of my executive order, what that tells is me they haven’t listened to parents yet,” he added. “If there’s one thing that everybody heard in November is it is time to listen to parents.

Hawaii to Require Travelers Have Covid Booster Shot in Order to be Considered “Fully Vaccinated”

Hawaii will require travelers to be fully vaccinated and boosted in order to skip the mandatory quarantine.

Travelers who do not have the Covid booster will be ordered to quarantine for five days, Hawaii Governor Ige announced.

“We know that the community needs time to react to that, so we would have to provide at least two weeks for those who may not be up-to-date to go to have the opportunity to go and get vaccinated if they need to,” the governor said, according to Hawaii News Now.

Governor Ige also said he has been speaking with mayors about requiring proof of Covid booster shots in order to dine indoors.

ABC News reported:

Hawaii will require visitors to the state to have received a COVID-19 vaccine booster if they want to skip quarantine.

Currently, under the rules of the state’s “Safe Travels” program, travelers who don’t want to quarantine for five days must either be fully vaccinated — meaning two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine — or have a negative COVID-19 test within one day of travel.

However, the program is changing the definition of “fully vaccinated” to include booster shots, Gov. David Ige announced at a news conference last week.

This means fully vaccinated travelers who haven’t received a booster shot will have to quarantine in Hawaii for five days.

Ige said changes to the program will not occur for at least two weeks so people traveling to Hawaii can adjust their plans accordingly.

Police used notorious spyware to snoop on citizens – media inquiry

The surveillance was allegedly done without the required court supervision or authorization

Israeli police have been accused of using the NSO group's Pegasus spyware to conduct warrantless phone intercepts of citizens without the required court authorization, according to an investigation by Tel Aviv-based media.

On Tuesday, Israeli news outlet Calcalist published an investigation into claims the country’s police have used the spyware to remotely hack citizens’ phones. Authorities are accused of controlling the devices and extracting information, despite not having secured warrants.

Individuals who are thought to have been targeted include mayors, protest leaders, former government employees, and a close contact of a senior politician, Calcalist’s investigation said.

Reportedly, “the hacking wasn’t done under court supervision, and police didn’t request a search or bugging warrant to conduct the surveillance.” Moreover, once collected there was apparently no supervision on the data being collected, or how police used or distributed it.

Israeli law currently only permits the nation’s domestic intelligence agency to hack phones without court permission. However, the outlet suggested police may have justified an exemption for it by claiming the technology used is not covered by existing legislation.

Israeli Public Security Minister Omer Barlev has refuted the reports, stating that there was “no practice of secretive wiretapping, or intrusion into devices, by the Israeli police without the approval of a judge.”

US Airline Lobbying Group Warns Of 'Catastrophic Disruptions' Upon 5G Rollout

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) cleared a large portion of the U.S. commercial plane fleet for ultra-low visibility landing at half of the U.S. airports affected by the upcoming rollout of 5G. However, a top airline lobbying group warned the 5G rollout could unleash severe economic consequences for commercial and cargo airlines.

An FAA statement, released Sunday, said Boeing 737, 747, 757, 767, MD-10/-11 and Airbus A310, A319, A320, A321, A330 and A350 models had been approved to perform low-visibility landings (this represents about 45% of America's commercial fleet). The agency also approved two radar altimeter models that will not be disrupted by the 5G band from cellular towers.

The remaining airports will be heavily impacted by 5G frequencies and could cause airlines to delay or cancel flights based on weather. The FAA has requested AT&T and Verizon, which plan to turn on their 5G towers on Dec. 19, to create buffer zones for six months around 50 airports where transmitters are nearby.

"Even with these new approvals, flights at some airports may still be affected. The FAA also continues to work with manufacturers to understand how radar altimeter data is used in other flight control systems. Passengers should check with their airlines if weather is forecast at a destination where 5G interference is possible," the FAA said.

The heart of the problem lies in the aircraft's radar altimeter uses frequencies close to C-band. 5G towers also use C-band radio spectrum frequencies that can disrupt altimeters, an important device that measures the aircraft's height above ground.

Florida ADL rebukes Democrat Nikki Fried for comparing DeSantis to Hitler

The Florida chapter of the Anti-Defamation League rebuked Nikki Fried, the state's Democratic Agricultural Commissioner and a candidate for governor, after she compared her would-be Republican rival Gov. Ron DeSantis to Hitler.

In a social media post, the Florida Anti-Defamation League said Fried's comments were "offensive."

"While public officials may have disagreements over policies, comparisons to the Holocaust and Nazism are inappropriate, offensive, and trivialize this unique tragedy in human history," ADL Florida said.

Presidential Debate Commission Chief Held ‘Off-The-Record’ Meetings With Chinese Communist Propagandists, And Xi Jinping.

As Republicans weight the merits of debating in a rigged system, new information comes to light about the Commission's board members.

Kenneth Wollack, a Co-Chair of the Commission of Presidential Debates, participated in several “off-the-record” dialogues with Chinese Communist Party officials and influence groups, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal.

Wollack – also the Chairman of the publicly-funded National Endowment for Democracy (NED) board – was one of ten principal delegates for what was called the inaugural U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue, hosted by the EastWest Institute “in partnership” with the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The U.S. delegation was led by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, whose daughter Alice was recently tapped to run a key Biden-era foreign aid initiative despite her massive investments with the Chinese Communist Party.

“It seeks to build understanding and trust between political elites from the United States and China through an exchange of views on governance and foreign policy issues,” summarizes the think-tank.

The EastWest Institute, however, has a long track record of collaborating with premier Chinese influence groups including the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

The organization was founded by the Vice-Chairman Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department, an effort that seeks to “co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign governments to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies.”

CUSEF has also sponsored various U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue.

Given the EastWest Institute’s close ties to Beijing, Wollack’s delegation included “off-the-record” meetings with Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping and senior officials in the regime’s controversial United Front Work Department.

In the following year, Wollack joined another U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue that took place in Beijing and Sichuan, China.

“This visit marked the first time the dialogue process expanded beyond Beijing to include meetings in other regions of China, in an effort to promote a broader understanding between the two countries’ political elites,” explained the EastWest Institute.

In December 2012, Wollack joined another business-focused delegation, which the EastWest Institute summarized as focusing on “how to expand trade ties between China and the United States, particularly at the provincial and state levels.”

Texas Abortion Ban Remains in Effect as Appeals Court Sends Case to State’s Supreme Court

An abortion ban that went into effect in Texas last September will remain as such for the foreseeable future, after a federal appeals court sent a case challenging the ban to the state’s Supreme Court, dealing the abortion clinics challenging the law a small defeat.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, which is perceived as a conservative appellate court, in a 2-to-1 decision, sent the case to the Texas Supreme Court.

“The unresolved questions of state law must be certified to the Texas Supreme Court,” wrote Judge Edith Jones, joined by Judge Stuart Kyle Duncan. Jones was nominated by President Ronald Reagan, and Duncan was nominated by President Donald Trump.

The decision effectively delays a legal challenge by abortion clinics against the Texas Heartbeat Act, also known as Senate Bill 8 (SB 8). The abortion ban, which applies after a heartbeat is detected—usually around six weeks after conception—unless a medical emergency exists, will for now remain in place.

Jones stated that the case is a matter of judicial procedure and not about the merits of the abortion ban itself.

“[T]he issues before this court are not about abortion, nor about whether S.B. 8 is consistent with the federal Constitution, nor about the wisdom of S.B. 8, but about the constitutional authority of federal courts to entertain this pre-enforcement suit against a state law,” she wrote.

On Tuesday, the Virtual Telescope Project, located in Rome, will host a live stream of asteroid 7482 as it makes its closest approach to Earth. Don't worry, it's still a solid one million miles away from the surface of our home planet, but this is closer than the asteroid will get for at least the next 200 years, EarthSky reported

The space-centric publication noted, asterid 7482 is "classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid" due to its size (it has an estimated diameter of around 750 – 1350 meters) and relatively close approaches. However, EarthSky added the reassuring disclaimer that "an asteroid of this size strikes Earth approximately every 600,000 years," so we're good…this time.

‘I escaped a Jewish cult that wanted me to marry my 12-year-old cousin’

When Mendy Levy was 15 years old, he had never thrown a baseball, seen a stuffed animal, watched television or held a cellphone.

Born into the extreme fundamentalist Jewish sect of Lev Tahor, he was, he told The Post, raised to distrust outsiders and to believe that Children’s Protective Services wanted to take Jewish children from their families and have them brought up as gentiles.

But the teenager reached his breaking point in September 2018. Lev Tahor’s leader, Nachman Helbrans (whose late father, Shlomo Helbrans, founded the group), allegedly commanded Levy to marry his 12-year-old first cousin.

“I knew it was wrong. After a Friday night service, Nachman [gathered us] to make an engagement,” Levy, now 18, told The Post. His young cousin’s face was covered — as is the Lev Tahor tradition for females, who wear long, black robes. “She was crying loud, and I didn’t want to do it. Finally, at 7 o’clock in the morning, we agreed — verbally, but not emotionally. The rabbi dipped a piece of bread in borscht, gave it to me and said, ‘Mazel tov, you are engaged.’”

Levy didn’t feel he could say no. “I feared, I would be charim [Yiddish for ostracized],” he said. “I feared that they could lock me up and beat me.”

According to sources, Lev Tahor was formed in Israel during the 1980s with the intention of practicing Judaism as it was 5,000 years ago.

Levy was far from the only member who claims he was forced into or threatened with marriage at a young age.

This past November, a federal jury in New York convicted Nachman Helbrans and co-leader Mayer Rosner on charges including conspiracy to transport a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. They are awaiting sentencing. The Department of Justice alleges that Helbrans arranged for his 13-year-old niece from Woodridge, NY, to marry a 19-year-old man and begin a sexual relationship with him for the purpose of procreating. Young mothers in Lev Tahor, according to the DOJ, were made to deliver babies in private homes so as to hide their ages.

Nachman Helbrans’ attorney declined to comment for this story. Lev Tahor’s leaders have previously denied accusations of wrongdoing or mistreatment of its members.

One Brooklyn-based source who has worked to free followers from Lev Tahor told The Post that the group has “a convoluted interpretation of Judaica, which believes that when a boy or girl hits maturity, at 12 or 13 years old, they have an obligation to get married.

“Nothing about this cult is unique or creative. But it became more archaic and problematic when Nachman took over. He is a complete sociopath,” said the source, who asked not to be named because he fears it will hinder his rescue work. “One of their big things is extortion: telling people, for example, that if they want to talk to their children before Yom Kippur, they have to donate money.”

It all began with just six members — including Levy’s grandparents, who were followers of Shlomo Helbrans — who moved from Israel to the United States around 1990. Four years later, Shlomo was convicted in the US and served two years in prison for kidnapping a 13-year-old boy. Shlomo later fled to Canada and regrouped Lev Tahor in the mountains north of Montreal, where Levy was born in 2003.

COVID con, part 2: How billions in pandemic relief funds went to everything but pandemic relief

Federal money meant to combat COVID-19 instead spent on pension bailouts, critical race theory programs, cash grants to illegal immigrants.

Read part 1 of our COVID con series to see how lax government oversight of COVID-19 relief funds allowed fraudsters to take advantage of the pandemic and rake in cash as small businesses failed.

For the past two years, states and the federal government have spent billions of dollars in COVID-19 relief funds on a wide range of policy programs unrelated to the pandemic, according to a review conducted by Just the News.

The review found that, in numerous cases across the country, local, state, and federal officials used pandemic relief to fund other, often politically contentious spending priorities, such as teacher pay raises and cash grants for illegal immigrants.

One of the most prominent examples came at the federal level, where lawmakers attempted to bail out union pension plans facing possible insolvency.

In March, Democrats included in President Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which was meant to help the country recover from the health and economic effects of COVID-19, about $86 billion to save private unions' multiemployer retirement funds. The largest of these is the Teamsters' Central States Pension Fund.

Democrats argued at the time that the bailout would keep dozens if not hundreds of pensions solvent for several more years at a lower cost than if Congress acted later. It's unclear, however, why they included the pension cash infusion in a law purportedly meant to combat the pandemic rather than other legislation.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appeared to offer a partial explanation last year, saying children would be helped by taxpayer funds directed toward struggling union-managed multiemployer pensions, noting the benefits of providing economic security for families.

Critics of the bailout counter that, because it doesn't address the structural problems that caused the pensions to face insolvency in the first place, many of these bailed out retirement plans may need another cash infusion in the not-too-distant future.

Beyond unions, the federal government also sent pandemic relief funds to businesses linked to the Chinese government. In fact, the Treasury Department and the Small Business Administration gave between $192 million and $419 million in emergency U.S. taxpayer funding to at least 125 Chinese firms with links to the Chinese Communist Party, according to the Horizon Advisory strategic consulting group.

Due to negligible government oversight, the money went to the firms by way of the Paycheck Protection Program, which was designed to assist U.S. small businesses that were devastated by the pandemic.

The Treasury Department has also said states and localities can spend COVID-19 relief on infrastructure, expanding access to broadband internet, and modernizing cyber security. Indeed, the department has given them significant flexibility in how they spend their federal pandemic relief funds, indicating the money can go to replacing lost revenue as well as infrastructure. However, the department announced this months after states already submitted their plans for how they would spend COVID-19 funds on these very areas……

Matt Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend granted immunity in sex-trafficking probe: report

A former girlfriend of Rep. Matt Gaetz was granted immunity before she testified last week in front of a federal grand jury hearing evidence in the sex-trafficking probe of the right-wing lawmaker, according to a new report.

Two sources familiar with the investigation told CBS News that the unidentified ex of Gaetz (R-Fla.) is seen as a potential key witness in the case, with one source alleging that she has information related to both trafficking and obstruction of justice claims against the congressman.

As part of the obstruction of justice investigation, authorities are looking at whether Gaetz made a phone call to the ex-girlfriend and another woman who is also a witness in the investigation.

Multiple sources told CBS that the unnamed ex-girlfriend and the other woman on the phone call traveled to the Bahamas with Gaetz in 2018. The sources alleged a third woman — who was in a sexual relationship with Gaetz — was also on the trip. That woman was 18 years old at the time of the Bahamas trip, but officials are investigating whether she was 17 when the sexual relationship with Gaetz began.

According to the report, Joel Greenberg, a former Seminole County, Fla., tax commissioner and friend of Gaetz, introduced the congressman to the woman when she was 17 years old.

Gaetz has repeatedly denied all wrongdoing and his attorney, Isabelle Kirshner, emphasized to CBS News that they “have seen no credible basis for a charge against Congressman Gaetz. We remain steadfast in our commitment to challenge any allegations with facts and law.”

“I might be a wanted man by the deep state, but I am a Florida man, and it is good to be home,” Gaetz said last May amid the investigation, adding that “they will not silence me, we will not back down, and the truth will prevail.”

Investigators are also looking into whether any of the women were paid and illegally trafficked across state or national lines to have sexual relations with the Florida Republican.

The investigation into Gaetz began after Greenberg was hit with a slew of charges last year, including sex-trafficking a minor. In May 2021, Greenberg pleaded guilty to all of the charges.

Gaetz has not been charged with any crime.
