i agree. it was not necessary to be rude and condescending. bongino doesn't have a politcal background. i hate when people try to elevate themselves by putting others down. everyone knows rodman was heavily villified and mocked when he came back. i'm sure he was threatened as well, which is probably why he had to hide out. i lost a lot of respect for bongino and what's her name for doing that. what's bongino's expertise? guarding people? please. he should stfu.

The President now has the power, under secret arrangements already established, to seize total dictatorial control. Can he hold such power and not use it? If he has no intention of asserting this secret power, why did the White House go to the trouble of setting it up?

 

Unknown to virtually all Americans except for the tiny handful who make up his administrationโ€™s inner circle. Jimmy Carter promulgated a secret program to suspend the Constitution and to clamp executive dictatorship on the nation whenever, in his judgment, conditions warrant the declaration of โ€œnational emergency.โ€

 

A young policy analyst who helped draft the original directives have described the new program as a White House stratagem to replace the American Constitutional structure with a so-called โ€œcommand systemโ€ in which you will be subject to total bureaucratic control.

 

The years since the inauguration of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 have been a history of relentless bureaucratic encroachment on the rights of American citizens, the sources acknowledge.

 

Yet these people, who are familiar with Carterโ€™s design, described the new plan as,

โ€œthe most dangerous internal attack on our system since independence.โ€

It is a,

โ€œquiet coup dโ€™etat that will end up making the Soviet Union look mild and permissive by comparison,โ€ they said.

A major White House directive, known as Presidential Review Memorandum 32 (PRM 32), inaugurated the new order last year as a โ€œnational administrative reorganization projectโ€ allegedly designed to help the country deal more effectively with disasters and mass emergencies. In a sharp break with tradition, PRM 32 has been hidden from the public under a high level of security classification.

 

It has never been published in full, even in the โ€œFederal Register.โ€

 

Since the Roosevelt era, โ€œexecutive ordersโ€ (EOs) presidential decrees which acquire the force of law have been utilized by the mushrooming bureaucracy to extend its control. The most pervasive and therefore potentially the most damaging executive order prior to 1977 was promulgated by President Richard M. Nixon on October 28, 1969.

 

Known as EO 11490, the so-called โ€œomnibusโ€ emergency preparedness decree, it incorporated 23 earlier EOs into a so-called โ€œumbrella ukaseโ€ granting the national bureaucracy wide powers, in civil or military โ€œcrisis conditions,โ€ to literally seize the entire country and every man, woman and child in it.

Executive Order 10997 provides for the takeover of all electric, power, petroleum, gas, fuels and minerals this includes well water.

Executive Order 10988 provides for the takeover of food resources and farms.

Executive Order 10999 provides for the takeover of all modes of transportation, control of highways, seaports, etc.

Appointed to the senior staff of the National Security Council soon after Carterโ€™s election, Huntington came up with a study suggesting that the most effective road to a fully bureaucratized and โ€œsystems-managedโ€ U.S. lay through a โ€œtotalโ€ approach to federal emergency management.

 

Critics have dubbed him Samuel โ€œMad Dogโ€ Huntington for his zeal in promoting bureaucratic totalitarianism. But the Trilateral professor is man of dangerous brilliance.

 

He saw that crisis management could be used to replace the Constitutional system if two main โ€œflawsโ€ were removed its dependence: on the traditional civil service for enforcement: and on some sort of visible, alarming disaster or dislocation for justification.

 

 

Secret Crisis Invented

 

Threats or catastrophes justifying the imposition of a state of national emergency by the president could be staged or arranged: the origins of World War II were a historic reminder of that.

 

But staging a upheaval which would appear credible to most citizens takes money, energy and time. Why not devise a โ€œclassified emergencyโ€ a secret crisis, as it were, which existed solely on the say-so of the president?

 

Huntington knew that he had the makings of just such an invisible emergency in the space age menace of nuclear terrorism. On November 4, 1975, the chairman of the board of giant Union Oil Co., Fred Hartley, received and anonymous letter in his Los Angeles office threatening the detonation of a nuclear device unless Union Oil paid $1 million in ransom-small bills in two suitcases.

 

FBI experts flown in from Washington judged the letter to be a โ€œcredibleโ€ threat that is, written by someone who may have actually assembled a โ€œkitchen tableโ€ nuclear device. Six days later agents arrested Frank James, a 63 year old car salesman, and nothing like a bomb or its makings was found. James was charged only with a โ€œthreat to destroy property,โ€ not with the far more serious crime of blackmail.

 

Although James was convicted in October, 1976 and sent to prison for about six months, the evidence in the case remained murky. James maintains to this day that he was innocent and the victim of a โ€œfederal set-up.โ€

 

Huntington concluded, was the ideal situation; a โ€œnational emergencyโ€ which could be triggered by a single nuclear blackmail note-a letter which could originate with a genuine terrorist or on a White House typewriter with equal facility enabling the president to assume command of the country.

 

To maximize the impact of such and event, as the official jargon has it, Huntington proposed the formation of a separate bureaucracy to deal with various aspects of the crisis.

FEMA controllers working with the Department of Agriculture staff will issue commands concerning the decontamination, safekeeping and distribution of food supplies. In the treasury, they will impose a moratorium on banks and administer the printing of money during the โ€œemergency.โ€

 

What is foreseen is a system of government most closely resembling a state of martial law, but that is nothing new; what they are not telling you and the reason the government can write secret laws to enslave you and then not tell you that they are on the books, is because the martial law from the Civil War time when it was put into place then has never been rescinded.

 

Our civil liberties have simply been swept away one by one.

Justice Department lockdown lifted after 'hoax' active shooter report

 

Multiple news outlets reported that there was an active shooter inside the Justice Department on Monday afternoon, but it appears to have been a hoax.

Feds say former Florida police chief framed teenager

 

Biscayne Park, Floridaโ€™s former police chief and two former officers were charged by federal prosecutors Monday with framing a 16-year-old for four unsolved murders in a bizarre scheme to keep perfect the townโ€™s record for catching criminals.

 

Raimundo Artesiano, the former police chief, and ex-officers Charlie Dayoub and Raul Fernandez were indicted on a host of civil rights charges. If convicted, the three could each face up to 11 years in prison.

 

Prosecutors say Mr. Artesiano and the two officers conspired to frame a juvenile only identified by the initials T.D. for four burglaries. There was โ€œno evidence and lawful basisโ€ to support the charges, according to the indictment.

 

The three police officials framed the youth in order to keep the departmentโ€™s burglary clearance rate perfect, prosecutors said. Mr. Artesiano even bragged at a local city council meeting that his department had solved all of the burglaries they investigated.

 

The FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating the case.

Federal judge shuts down Delta Pharma, Mississippi pharmaceutical company

 

A federal judge has shut down a Ripley, Mississippi, pharmaceutical company, the Department of Justice announced Monday.

 

The Justice Department and FDA alleged that Delta Pharma distributed potentially dangerous drugs because they were made in unsanitary conditions for more than a decade. Those conditions led to medicines being contaminated or adulterated, the two agencies said.

 

Investigators noted numerous unsanitary practices including using tubes that may not have been sterilized to process drugs. Delta also did not take steps to ensure chemicals or particles from the tubes would contaminate the medicines, according to court documents.

 

โ€œCompounding pharmacies have a responsibility to ensure that they process and label drugs in a manner that ensures the safety and quality of such drugs,โ€ said Acting Assistant Attorney General Chad A. Readler of the Justice Departmentโ€™s Civil Division.

 

Tommy T. Simpson, president of Delta Pharma, declined to comment when contacted by The Washington Times.

 

Judge Neal B. Biggers of the Northern District of Mississippi issued the permanent injunction after concluding the company violated the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The ruling bars Delta, Mr. Simpson and Vice President Charles Michael Harrison from manufacturing and distributing drugs until they comply with the FDAโ€™s remedial measures.

The officials could both add some meat to those bones, in describing what the vulgar phrase means.

 

โ€œObama apologized to everyone for everything. He felt bad about everything โ€ฆ. [Trump] doesnโ€™t feel like he has to apologize for anything America does,โ€ the first official said.

 

According to Mr. Goldberg, he asked the second official whether Mr. Trump was familiar with the 2004 puppet-satire film โ€œTeam America: World Police,โ€ whose theme song was titled โ€œAmerica, Fโ€“ Yeah!โ€

 

The second official laughed and said the president โ€œof courseโ€ was, and that the film describes his temperament well.

Justice Department backs lawsuit against University of Michigan's Bias Response Team

 

The Trump administration weighed in Monday on a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of policies prohibiting the expression of โ€œbiasโ€ at the University of Michigan, arguing that the public school has been unlawfully punishing students for speech protected by the First Amendment.

 

In a statement of interest, the Justice Department said the Ann Arbor university has imposed a โ€œsystem of arbitrary censorship of, and punishment for, constitutionality protected speech.โ€

In a statement, acting Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio said freedom of speech and expression โ€œare under attackโ€ on college campuses.

 

โ€œThis Justice Department, under the leadership of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is committed to promoting and defending Americansโ€™ first freedom at public universities,โ€ Mr. Panuccio said.

 

The free speech advocacy group Speech First filed a lawsuit against the University of Michigan in May.

 

Nicole Neily, president of Speech First, praised the Justice Department for weighing in on the case.

 

โ€œWeโ€™re delighted that the U.S. Department of Justice has filed a statement of interest in our case against the University of Michigan,โ€ Ms. Neily said in a statement. โ€œOver the past year, DOJ has shown that they place a high priority on the First Amendment rights of students across the country, and we look forward to the court ruling on the merits of Speech First v. The lawsuit said the universityโ€™s Bias Response Team has investigated more than 150 incidents since April 2017 and has responded to reports of bias by removing flyers and posters, erasing whiteboards and investigating students and professors for their remarks.

 

The lawsuit claimed the Bias Response Teamsโ€™ determinations are โ€œcompletely subjective,โ€ citing the universityโ€™s declaration that the โ€œmost important indication of bias is your own feelings.โ€

 

There also have been signs that restrictions on speech were getting worse at the University of Michigan. The school announced in April that it would amend its Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities to prohibit โ€œbias-related misconduct.โ€

 

A spokesperson for the school said the Justice Department had โ€œseriously misstated the University of Michigan Policy and painted a false portrait of speech on our campus.โ€

 

โ€œContrary to the departmentโ€™s statement, the universityโ€™s Bias Response Team does not โ€˜[have] the authority to subject students to discipline and sanction,โ€ the spokesperson said in a statement. โ€œRather, it provides support to students on a voluntary basis; it does not investigate claims of bias or discipline students in any way.โ€

 

The University of Michigan also issued a clarification Monday on definitions of bullying and harassment in the Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities.

 

โ€œThe revised definitions more precisely and accurately reflect the commitment to freedom of expression that has always been expressed in the statement itself,โ€ E. Royster Harper, vice president for student life, said in a statement.

 

Speech First is a member organization and represents students at campuses across the country.

 

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, are several University of Michigan students.

 

One student quoted in the lawsuit said free speech is permitted on campus only โ€œif your ideals align with those the University imposed on us.โ€

 

โ€œIn other words, people have their right to freedom of speech and expression, but only until their beliefs no longer align with the so-called โ€˜correctโ€™ beliefs, then people are not allowed to freely express those opinions,โ€ the student is quoted as saying.

Federal authorities arrest 74 people in wire transfer scam

 

Federal authorities have arrested 74 people โ€” including 42 in the United States โ€” for allegedly hijacking wire transfer funds through a sophisticated email scam, the Justice Department said Monday.

 

The arrests were part of Operation Wire Wire, a six-month investigation by the Justice Department, U.S. Postal and Inspection Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of the Treasury.

 

In total, arrests were made in five countries, including the United States. Roughly $14 million in fraudulent wire transfers were recovered and nearly $2.4 million was seized, according to the Justice Department.

 

All told, 29 individuals were arrested in Nigeria, and three were apprehended in Canada, Mauritius and Poland.

 

Federal authorities allege the individuals impersonated employees or business executives after gaining access to their email accounts, better known as a Business Email Compromise (BEC) scheme. Hackers initiate BEC scams by impersonating a business executive after gaining access to their email accounts. They then use the accounts to direct employees to transfer funds into bank accounts controlled by criminals.

 

The elderly are particularly vulnerable to such schemes, said Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

 

โ€œFraudsters can rob people of their lifeโ€™s savings in a matter of minutes,โ€ Mr. Sessions said announcing the arrests. โ€œThese are malicious and morally repugnant crimes.โ€

 

Since January, law enforcement agents have targeted 51 domestic BEC scammers and seized assets totaling nearly $1 million, the Justice Department said.

Yet it wouldnโ€™t be completely out of left field for Mr. Trump to mention the Navy ship, given the anniversary of its seizing in what the U.S. still insists was open ocean but North Korea says were its own territorial waters.

 

โ€œThis year marks the 50th anniversary of North Koreaโ€™s seizure of the USS Pueblo and I like many others in our state want to see the ship returned home,โ€ Republican Rep. Scott Tipton wrote President Trump last month. โ€œThe historic summit that is to be heldโ€ฆ presents a rare opportunity to directly make this request.โ€

 

The Pueblo was a spy ship, assigned to monitor North Korean communications and laden with top secret intelligence reports and machinery.

 

The North Koreans detected it and sent a flotilla to surround it, assisted by MiG fighters overhead. They demanded surrender, and sent a boarding party which raked the bridge and decks with gunfire, wounding the captain and several others, and killing one crew member, Duane Hodges.

 

Capt. Lloyd Bucher ordered his crew to smash the intelligence equipment and burn or shred the documents. There was so much that they even began to dump documents overboard, according to the USS Pueblo Veterans Association.

 

The U.S. insists the Pueblo was in international waters at the time. North Korea says it was inside the countryโ€™s boundaries, and seized the ship and crew, who were held and tortured for 335 days.

 

The Cold War crisis was finally resolved in vintage Hollywood fashion two days before Christmas 1968 when the gaunt prisoners walked, one by one, across the Bridge of No Return in the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea.

 

They were finally released after the U.S. signed an apology of sorts - then quickly rescinded it once all the American personnel were safely returned.

 

A National Security Agency analysis, declassified in 2012, described the scope of the intelligence disaster, saying North Korea was able to figure out which codes the U.S. had broken, which telecommunications systems the U.S. was able to monitor, and who in the North Korean hierarchy was of interest to the U.S.

Pope Francis accepts resignation of Chilean bishop accused of covering up child abuse

 

Pope Francis accepted the resignation of three bishops on Monday, one of whom was accused of covering up part of the child sex abuse scandal in Chile.

 

The Holy See confirmed that the pope accepted the resignations of Bishop Juan Barros of Osorno, Bishop Gonzalo Duarte of Valparaiso and Bishop Cristian Caro of Puerto Montt.

 

Bishop Barros was accused of protecting the Rev. Fernando Karadima, who was found guilt of sexual abusing minors.

 

The bishop denied ever having knowledge of Father Karadimaโ€™s behavior.

 

The pope initially stood by Bishop Barros, but then later said he had made โ€œgrave errors in judgmentโ€ about the bishop, The Associated Press reported.

 

Bishop Duarte and Bishop Caro both resigned because they reached the required retirement age for bishops.

 

The news comes as the Roman Catholic Church continues investigations into child sex abuse claims in several countries. A probe into sexual abuse claims and the churchโ€™s handling of the situation in Pennsylvania could be public by the end of June, AP reported.

Panamaโ€™s former president to be extradited home Monday: lawyer

 

(Reuters) - The former president of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, will be extradited Monday from the United States, where he has been held for a case of illegal wiretapping, one of his attorneys said Sunday.

 

Martinelli was jailed in the United States last year after Panama requested his extradition on charges that he used public money to spy on more than 150 political rivals during his 2009-2014 term.

 

The former president was arrested in June 2017 near Miami, where he had lived after leaving his country in 2015.

 

Martinelli, 66, has another dozen cases pending that range from the misappropriation of public funds to the sale of pardons. Martinelli has countered that he is innocent of the accusations and has said he is a victim of political persecution by the current president, a former political ally.
