What is a lunar wave? I observed them several nights in a row through a telescope (circa 2001). It was very disconcerting and never left my thoughts. Then about a year ago I stumbled across some videos on YouTube and immediately recognized them as the same kind of "waves" I saw. They are not atmospheric distortion. They are more like a slow refresh rate on an old monitor.
I haven't heard about this phenomenon until you asked.
Doing a quick search, I found a few videos of purported lunar waves, but I'm not sure what you are referring to, because I've seen a few different things claiming to be lunar waves.
Did you see this looking through a scope with an eyepiece, or through a camera attached to a scope? That can make a big difference.
In any case, I think to claim that the moon is a hologram, or some such, (which you didn't do, but I've seen that) is a bit asinine, as there is plenty of proof and ancient historical documentation that the moon exists.
Probably just the moon's cloaking device to hide surface bases and ships.
I was using a telescope with an eyepiece. It was a disturbing experience and it shook me up a bit. I never mentioned it to anyone and put it to the back of my mind. When I stumbled upon the YouTube video it brought the experience back to life for me.

I'm not sure what you saw, But I have observed the moon many times over the years and haven't seen anything like that. Without knowing more or seeing it I wouldn't want to speculate.

As to your anecdote, because that's all it is, really, have you personally observed that phenomenon? I haven't. Why should I believe a 150 year old story you copypasta'd without even naming the source, but I shouldn't believe the writings of many other astronomers from the same era who helped shape the ideas we have today? My best guess is that he saw a Near Earth asteroid pass in front of the moon. Entirely plausible, and makes sense since he claimed 7th magnitude, which is quite dim, to dim for the naked eye even.
In any case, I didn't start this thread to argue about any of these types of things. As you see in the videos I'm just a regular guy, who drives a regular car, lives on a regular street, in a regular house. I really have no reason to lie about anything.
I don't claim to have all the answers, and I don't just accept what I'm fed. That's why I spent the money and the time to buy 4 telescopes and cameras and learn how to use them. I can prove these things to myself. Can you do that beyond finding an echo chamber on the internet?
I will tell you that I have NEVER observed anything in all my years doing this that has made me question what I was taught. I'll look at this, but iirc, the redshift estimate the movement of a star, the distance is calculated by a parallax shift, which is a very reliable way of doing it, and that's how the term Parsec is defined. Look it up.
I haven't personally verified this because it takes about a years worth of observations on a single star, and some more sophisticated measuring equipment than I have. But I would love to try! The method makes a lot of sense and the math is simple.

I created this thread because someone in the FE club claimed that pictures like pic related cannot be taken from the earth, and that the planets are 'stars' and 'fallen angels', and I knew I could prove him wrong. I made the videos above to show step by step the methodology for taking pictures like this. Clearly, I have shown that Jupiter is a real planet that looks generally how NASA et. al. say that it should. You still have not addressed that, you've just moved on to a different theory.
I do find it highly ironic that a FE believer will believe all the photographic evidence on the Halton Arp page without any knowledge of how those photos were taken and no sources cited. But I guess that's ok since it somewhat supports your argument, though I'd bet Arp would disagree with that.
I think we need to be very careful with an all-or-nothing approach. There's truths in the lies, and there's lies in the truths. We have to prune and weed to find the real, whole truth. I will say again though that I have never seen anything in my observations that has made me question what I was taught with respect to what I have observed. I don't have all the answers though, I'll be the first to admit that, which is why I'll keep observing.

Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars are all near opposition, which means they are larger and brighter than usual. Check it out, and pray for clear skies!

Taking pics like this doesn't necessarily prove the earth is a globe, though if you knew the methods used for capturing some of these pictures and you actually did your research into astrophotography, you would realize that many of the pictures cannot be taken on a FE. I won't do that research for you, however. if you are a real anon, and not a shill, I trust you will research that. I'll give you some hints to Goog: long-exposure field rotation, alt-az vs eq mount, eq mount polar alignment.

What all my pictures really prove is that the flat earthers really have not done any significant scientific observation of their own. 'All' of these pictures I took with commercially available equipment that 'ANYONE' can buy, and I did it from my front yard or the nearby park, which last time I checked was on Earth. I see claims like "space is fake" and "the planets are just wantering stars" and other 'EASILY VERIFIABLE' stuff like that.
My aim is to show that these things are real, NASA hasn't lied abount 'everything', and to claim they have is stupid when you can verify it for yourself. There are 1000s of amateur astronomers around the globe, all using the same methods and equipment, producing extrordinary data and images from Earth-based observations. If NASA was lying about the planets and well known and photographed celestial objects like those I have imaged, it would be well known by the amateur astronomy community. Are we all comp'd? Now that I have your attention, next time you are under the moonlight take an infrared thermometer and measure the difference in temperature between the shadow and light. Use wood, not concrete which retains the days heat.
Why does temperature in moonlight act the opposite of the sun?, which is also a different color temperature. How does a reflective surface do that?
Then, when the next solar eclipse comes take a look down at the shadows cast through leaves of a tree and tell me why they are circular like that.
BTW, did you know that NASA has no one on staff that can predict the solar eclipse? They rely on a retired NASA astronomer to do that. If it's simply physics, why is that?

Well that certainly was an interesting video, but it further illustrates my point about the difference between astrophotography cameras and normal cameras.
The cardinal rule of astrophotography is never image through a window, or any unknown medium, for that matter. That can introduce all kinds of anomalies.
Also I would point out that while those are "professional" cameras in the video, the telephoto lenses attached are not telescopes designed to view the sky. There is a difference. Telescope optics have multiple layers of anti-reflective coatings on all glass surfaces to prevent reflections just like what was in that video. Do you know what camera was used to shoot the video itself? we see many cameras in the video, but is the video showing the orbs actually from one of them? how would you know? The "orbs" appear to be internal reflections in the camera itself. You can tell because as soon as totality ends, the "orbs" fill in with light the same way the sun does. They are reflections.
Before you REEEEEE at me, consider this: good science is repeatable, therefore if this is real science, you should be able to duplicate this with observations of your own. If these "orbs were as bright as shown in the video, they would be visible in a telecsope or binoculars with a solar filter, so start there. Also, can you find one, just one, observation of these "orbs" from a ground based observer, not one on a plane shooting through a window? For that matter, during the eclipse of 2017 that millions in America saw, are there any even anecdotal reports of these orbs from ground based observers?

He's saying that the moon is not reflecting the sun's light, it's emitting a light of its own.
The North Star is not stationary. FE folks keep on saying that it is, but it doesn't make it true. It moves, any honest and serious observer can see that if you cared to look. When I align my Equatorial mount, I must point it at the North celestial pole, not Polaris. If I pointed at Polaris, I would be close, but the tracking would show errors in the images due to a bad polar alignment.
Do your own research into the parallax of distant stars. They do move, as the Earth moves around the Sun. The reason it's not readily noticeable is because they are so far away. This is observable, measurable, and provable.

Perhaps you are right, and I apologize. I probably am biased because I have actually made honest observation of these things, and it really seems like FE believers haven't, beyond what they see on the internet. I never said the powers that be are honest about everything. I know they aren't. What i am endeavoring to share here are my observations. The orbs do not appear to be reflections. Look at the way they track. In the following video you can see the same orbs and, by toggling between the first and last frames, tell that over the course of the totality the sun changes slightly in location in relation to the aircraft while the orbs, (lens flares in your language), do not change, they are fixed:

Never said I was. I said professional cinematography and visual effects technology. Things like simulating lens flares for normie movies. I missed the question about camera obscura, used to visit the one on the ocean on Santa Monica with a live street view. Love the effect!
Do you make assumptions much? From my perspective you do. For example, you missed that I'm not falling into the duality-driven paradigm of concave sphere vs flat plane. I followed the results of 15,000 hours of research by South American scientists and the Rectilineator experiment from the 1800's that concluded that water is flat but Earth is a convex plane (with extra land masses - convexearth.org).
I think we're dealing with something far more mysterious than mere physical description allows because I know from firsthand experience that my perception has been jacked with and I don't know what I don't know. But, I do know that Reality is first and foremost a psychological phenomenon.

So, maybe you should consider and look at all of the thousands of photos that show a flat horizon compared to zero unadulterated photos showing a curve.
Or, go to Lake Michigan set your camera up on opposite shore 60 miles away, SEE the skyline and buildings in full view, top to ground level, which would be IMPOSSIBLE if there was curvature.
3) the reason there are no photos, which should have been a simple matter to provide, is because earth is not a ball and they have to continue at all costs, 187s included, to maintain the piles of lies or risk exposing first, the existence of God, second, all the lies being taught in worldwide educational systems, third, the great spacez hoax. OP here. I know this thread has been taken over by shills, but I wanted to share a few recent pictures I took Saturday with the same setup I showed in the videos. I captured 4 planets that night. Pics related are Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, All taken with the same setup and method I demonstrated above, showing clearly that the planets are real spherical objects, and not "alive angels."

In Isaiah 40:22, God is referred to as dwelling above "the circle of the Earth," you are correct. However, that passage was originally written in Hebrew, which I suppose you should know. The Hebrew word used here is ''chugh" which literally means "sphere." It's worth noting that a sphere appears circular from all angles, so from a standpoint of an observer in the heavens, the earth appears as a circle from every direction you view it.
As for the Earth "not moving" any passage you may point to is written in very poetic or symbolic language and not as a literal scientific statement. It's symbolic of the founding laws and principles that God established, governing the Natural universe and Earth. These cannot be changes and are immovable.
It's also interesting that you never bring up Job 26:7 - "He stretches out the northern sky over empty space, Suspending the earth upon nothing;" No "foundation" mentioned here, but a statement that would tend to agree with my assertions and images, that the planets, including Earth, appear suspended on empty space, as it were.
Sounds like you need to open your mind more, and not be so bound to the literal wording of an English translation of an old book written in an ancient language by men who thought of things in a different way than we do in western lands.

I'm fully aware of atmospheric distortion of light, however, to my knowledge, the red hue given the sun is only when it's at a very low angle, but your telescope (depicted here):
Appears to be pointing up much higher in the atmosphere where the red light distortion should not be taking any direct effect.
I would be baffled if Saturn, on your telescope, appeared red in a near 'high noon' position, but say, the moon, didn't. In-fact, if Saturn did indeed appear red far above the horizon, it would throw some serious questions on a number of things (namely: is NASA accurately depicting Saturn, is this part of red-shift and would this have a major impact on the dating and distances of stars, planets etc).
As I've seen NASA dishonestly report on a number of occasions (EG claiming Gary Powers' U2 spy plane was a 'NASA weather plane' and going so far as to paint one in NASA's colours), I'd be most curious to hear your explanation.
Indeed, could you include the angle used for each planet for references purposes? It'd be pretty explosive if you just casually demonstrated that NASA has shown the planets as the wrong colour without even realising.

The rotation direction of water down a drain isn't actually depicted by what hemisphere it's in (if I might ironically cite BBC's QI for that one). Indeed, one can prove this: fill up a bath with some water, pull the plug, and then physically with your hand rotate the water in the opposite direction to the way it's spinning (until the vortex changes direction) and then stop. It will continue to spin in it's new direction.

The Red hue may be due to my adjusting the white balance so it looks more natural to my eyes, but I usually do an auto adjustment and try to make the color as natural as possible. I will be honest, I've never noticed a pronounced red hue in my photos, except for a few.
As for Saturn, I have not noticed that NASA has ever depicted it as a pale blue. Pics related are Saturn pictures i found very quickly on Wikipedia. Are you sure you aren't referring to Uranus or Neptune (also in pic related)? Those are consistently depicted, and visually appear to be, pale blue-green. I've also included here my own pictures of Uranus and Neptune. From my viewing, even visually (ie not with a camera) Saturn has always appeared pale yellow.

are used primarily visually to bring out various details in planets (ie Jupiter's Cloud bands, Mars' polar caps, etc) and are not really used for photography, though they can be. I did not use any color filters in my planetary photos, however I may have used a light pollution filter designed for astrophotography, seen here:

This is due to living in a severly light polluted area, and this helps to darken the background sky. It should transmit colors naturally, though I concede that it may be the source of the red tinge you see. I don't recall precisely which pictures i used the filter with.
There are other filter sets used for Astrophotography that are very useful for studying astronomical objects, and I will discuss them each below. Each of these sets are used with a Monochrome camera. Essentially you take multiple B/W images through each filter, and assign a color channel to each layer. Then you stack the images to get a full color image. You may assign whatever color to each layer that you want, and vary it's intensity. This means that a single object can be depicted in many ways, with many different colors, and still be accurate depictions. This leads to some remarkable photographs. I will discuss the different filter sets in the next post with more pictures.

There are three filter sets I will discuss:

These filters are used primarily for obtaining natrual color pictures from a B/W camera. RGB is Red, Green and Blue and are self explanatory. The L filter stands for Luminance IR-Cut. This passes the entire spectrum of light, except infrared which can degrade images of deep-sky objects. This filter is used to create a layer that carries the detail of the image, while the RGB filters convey the color information.
See pics related, and note the filenames. This is a recent capture of the Star Deneb and it's surroundings. This is a set of quick test shots I took the other day consisting of twenty 5-second subframes on each filter, aligned and stacked. Each layer may look similar, but there are subtle differences based on the star's actual color. The final picture is the combined image in natural color. You can assign any color to each channel (ie assign red to the green channel, etc), to give it a different character.

This set is similar to the one above, but each filter in the set only passes light in a narrow band corresponding to the light emitted by certain elements, primarily in emission nebulae, namely Hydrogen-Alpha, Oxygen-III, and Sulfer-II. This makes it possible to create images with colors assigned to the elemental composition of an object, which is useful for studying objects, as you can imagine. Again, colors may be assigned as the photographer wishes, which can lead to some very artistic photographs. I wish i owned these, but not yet.

This set is again, similar to the others, but is primarily for planets and consists of a Methane, a UV and a IR filters. I don't own these yet.
My point is that the colors with which the planets and other astronomical objects are presented to us can vary wildly, while still depict the image naturally. It depends on the photographer and the information they are trying to convey. We must keep this in mind whenever we look at a NASA or a Hubble picture, and dig into the methodology they used to take the picture. It's way more than a simple point-and-shoot.
Finally, I will address several of your other points.

Throughout the year as the Earth orbits the sun, Saturn appears to "approach" for half the year, and appears to "recede" for half the year. This might cause a very minor blue- or red-shift, but I doubt it would be noticable to my equipment. To my knowledge, redshift is not used to measure the distance to the planets.

I know that Science in general is comp'd, but i believe that for their lies to be believable, there has to be truth mixed in, because this is always how the Satan has mislead people. I've never recorded the angle, since it changes throughout the viewing session as they rise, reach zenith, and set. The ecliptic doesn't get too high where i live, so I'd estimate that my planetary pictures were all taken between 30 and 50 degrees above the horizon, usually to the southeast, except for Venus, which i can only see in the west due to my local horizons.

See my previous posts regarding color for more info on this. Honestly, the color they present the planets in isn't a deception in my mind; anyone can view the planets in natural color through a $100 telescope. As I explained, its all about the desired presentation.
Pics related are 2 of my shots of Jupiter. Actually they are both processed from the same exact data, But They are processed in different ways to bring out certain details, and the larger one is processed using a method called Drizzling, which effectively increases the images resolution.

The speed of the earth's rotation and moving through space has nothing to do with the North celestial pole, which is fixed relative to the earth, ie it moves WITH the earth. Triginometry is all that is needed. But if you're the expert on this I'd invite you to mathematically prove me wrong. The distance absolutely changes the angle ratios. To claim otherwise proves you don't know geometry. In the case of stars, the distance is so large that the ffect is very small, but it's there.

In real life, the angle we align our scopes to varies based on our position on earth. See Pic related.
If I am standing at the Green position, note the angle from the green horizon that parallels the axis, angle b. This angle will equal angle a, which represents latitude. If you were at the blue position, the angle you would use is angle d, which is the same as angle c, or your latitude. The angles are both different, and less than 90 degrees. In fact from the southern hemisphere, they would have to align to the axis in the southern direction, and the angles again, would be different.

Here's a simple way to calculate and prove the distance to the sun. Just get over the cartoon sun in this illustration and spare me your wrath โ
Use the real sun, the trig remains true to math and science, and we can all agree numbers dont lie. This would be a great experiment to do with children, or friends.
It's a trigonometry sun distance from earth calculation that you can personally verify interactively by teaming up with someone at a distant location and measuring the angles to the sun in the sky. Those measurements have to be made at the same time, and one party needs to be where the sun is perpendicular overhead to them. Then you plug in the other party's angle to the sun and distance between the two, and run the calculations.
Your experiment may not match this example exactly, but I guarantee that it will not be anywhere close to 93,000,000 miles. And you can do it yourself.
This example uses Portland and NY, 3000 miles apart, and takes the angles formed to the sun in the sky from both locations, one being perpendicular.
You can use any two locations you want. Use lot's of locations for solid results. The more better. We can all learn something.

Question: "Does the Bible teach that the earth is flat?"
Answer: Many a skeptic claims that the Bible depicts a flat earth. Scriptural references such as Revelation 7:1 are cited, which speaks of โfour angels standing at the four corners of the earth.โ Critics also point to Psalm 75:3, which says God holds โthe pillarsโ of the earth firm. The truth is, the Bible does not comment on the shape of Planet Earth. It does not say that the earth is flat, and it does not say that it is spherical. Letโs take a closer look at some of the commonly cited passages that supposedly depict a flat earth:
Revelation 7:1 says, โI saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth.โ In writing this, the apostle John was using idiomatic languageโthe โfour corners of the earthโ refer to โevery distant location.โ We use the same idiom today; for example, when we speak of Olympic athletes coming from the four corners of the earth to compete in the games, we mean they are coming from all over the world.
The book of Revelation is full of non-literal descriptions and symbolic language. To press Revelation 7:1 into a hyper-literal interpretation makes no sense. John simply says that, at one point during the tribulation, God will cause all wind to stop blowing. The โfour cornersโ encompass the cardinal directionsโnorth, south, east, and west. All wind will cease at Godโs command.
Psalm 75:3 quotes God saying, โWhen the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.โ Other passages also refer to the earthโs โpillars,โ such as 1 Samuel 2:8, but in no case should the language be taken literally. The book of Psalms and Hannahโs song in 1 Samuel 2 are poetry. The writers liken the founding of the earth to the constructing of a house, and their descriptions are comparative (i.e., metaphorical), not literal. The point is not that the earth is flat but that the earth belongs to God; it is His construction, and He guarantees its stability. Godโs โpillarsโ will not move, and His โroofโ will not cave in. Even when the moral order of the world seems to have crumbled and people are overcome with fear, God will not fully withdraw His sustaining power.
What about the Bibleโs references to the โends of the earthโ in Deuteronomy 13:7; Job 28:24; Psalm 48:10; Proverbs 30:4; and other passages? Does a reference to the โendsโ of the earth teach that the earth has an edge and is therefore flat? Weโll take Deuteronomy 13:7 as representative of all the passages: here, Moses warns the people of โthe gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the otherโ (ESV).
A couple things can be said about the phrase the ends of the earth to show that it does not refer to a flat earth. First, that phrase, like the four corners of the earth, is idiomatic. We donโt expect people to take us literally when we speak of going โback to the drawing boardโ; neither should we force a literal interpretation on โthe ends of the earth.โ When biblical writers speak of the โends of the earthโ (28 times in the KJV), they are simply referring to โthe farthest reaches of the inhabited world.โ
Second, the phrase the ends of the earth at times refers to people, not to land. For example, Psalm 67:7 says, โMay God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.โ In this verse, the ends of the earth references the people who inhabit remote and distant places (see also Psalm 98:3 and Isaiah 45:22). Obviously, in this context the phrase is metaphorical and cannot be used to depict the earth as having a physical edge. The same phrase, used elsewhere, should also be considered figurative.
The Bible does not teach that the earth is flat. The references to the โearthโ in the Bible are often not references to planetary earth but to a portion of dry land bound by water. For example, Genesis 1:10 says, โGod called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seasโ (ESV). โEarthโ is mentioned as distinct from โSeasโ and cannot refer to Earth as a planet; the same Hebrew word for โEarthโ is used in Deuteronomy 13:7 and the other passages listed above.
While Bible does not teach that the earth is flat, neither does the Bible explicitly teach that the earth is spherical. Some passages do allow for a spherical earth, such as Job 26:7 and Isaiah 40:22. In any event, the Bible is far from affirming a naรฏve or unscientific understanding of the earth and the solar system. There is simply no basis for the charge that the Bible teaches a flat earth. Passages that seem to present a flat earth can all be explained when correctly understood.

Philologists have discovered a number of Indo-European words that appear to be related to Semitic words, whether of shared origin or having been borrowed in the distant past. I want to believe you are sincere. Research something called geostationary orbit. That could be one reason. Another is the way the pictures were taken, perhaps. If you've ever played around with serious photography yourself, you know you can photograph fast-moving objects clearly if you set up the camera properly. As I laid out extensively above, there are many ways to take pictures. One of them which would be used when taking pictures from space looking back at the earth would be to take multiple hi-res short exposure shots, then stitch them together into a mosaic picture. That is why sometimes you may see cloud formations duplicated of things like that. For satellites in Low Earth Orbit it would be very difficult to see the entire earth in one frame. There is a difference between spinning and tumbling. Slugs and shot tumble. A rifle spins a round on one axis, which actually stabilizes flight. I'm not a ballistics expert, but this makes sense to me. Maybe research ballistics a little?
