You may see that there is a common goal for many around the planet and this is the common goal of peace, however there are as many ways of achieving peace as they are people who hold this ideal. Humanity must unite in the grand plan and be of one mindset. Divisiveness must go. It cannot be tolerated any longer.

Exclusive — John McEntee: Many Political Appointees Are Weak ‘NPCs’ Who ‘Cuck’ Under Pressure

John McEntee, former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office during the Trump administration and founder and CEO of The Right Stuff, told Breitbart News on Thursday that many of former President Donald Trump’s political appointees were “NPCs” who would “cuck” when challenged by left-wing pressure campaigns.

McEntee said most of Trump’s appointees were politically aligned with the 45th president’s vision but lacked strength of character to persevere when targeted by hostile political and news media forces.

“For the most part, the three or four thousand political appointees, most were pro-Trump,” he said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “The problem was not that they were against Trump. The biggest problem is that they’re NPCs, right? They’re non-player characters. A lot of these people just want to build their resume, give West Wing tours, go to the White House Christmas party.They’re in fact, pro-Trump, but it’s strictly superficial.”

He added, “So, when the game is on the line and it’s time to actually ban diversity training, they cuck. That’s the problem.”

The former White House official said political appointees mostly prioritize their careerist ambitions within the framework of D.C.’s dominant left-wing and partisan Democrat political environment. He said they “cuck” in the face of leftist intimidation operations as a defensive reaction to protect their future prospects within the nation’s political industry.

“The problem is, a lot of people are in these [political D.C.] circles, and then, when the game’s on the line, they cuck,” he emphasized. “A lot of [political appointees] are just going through the motions, rather than actively undermining an agenda,” McEntee stated. “They’re just going along to get along. They’re just doing whatever the civil service says.”

He continued, “The bigger problem is making sure people are actually active when they’re pro-Trump and actually want to do the agenda part, instead of just the resume-I-got-to-get-a-White-House-souvenir part.”

McEntee recommended political recruitment of “strong-willed” talent from outside of Washington, DC, among those without long-term ambitions to ingratiate themselves among the ruling class and its orthodoxies.

“I think people just need to know — which they probably do going in — what they’re in for,” he remarked. “The type of people that are going to have to come in might have to be younger. They might have to be single. … It’s a tough environment … If you get fresh blood from outside of D.C., that will be less of an issue.”

He concluded, “Changes can be made. It can be done. You just need those right people.”

Scientists warn of cold winter in Europe

There will also be less wind and rainfall – a setback for alternative power sources – a weather tracker says

European countries may be about to face a colder than usual winter, the head of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) predicted on Sunday. This forecast comes as the continent is struggling with an energy crunch spurred by the sanctions the West has slapped on Russia over the Ukraine conflict.

Speaking to the Financial Times, ECMWF Director-General Florence Rabier said that early data suggest that in November and December Western Europe may face a period of high pressure. This, she noted, may bring in colder weather with less wind and rainfall, which may reduce the amount of power generated by renewable power sources.

“If we have this pattern then for the energy it is quite demanding because not only is it a bit colder but alsoyou have less wind for wind power and less precipitation for hydro power,” Rabier told the outlet.

The ECMWF chief went on to say that while in the short term Europe may experience milder weather due to the recent hurricanes in the Atlantic, an atmospheric phenomenon called La Nina may bring in colder weather later on. This usually occurs due to periodic cooling of the Pacific Ocean, which triggers ripple effects on weather across the globe and can change wind and precipitation patterns.

Rabier noted that Europe just experienced one of its hottest summers in history. While this proved to be a bonanza for solar power, it also led to a decreased share of wind and hydro power in the EU’s energy mix.

Various Western officials and public figures have warned of the desperate situation the EU may find itself in this winter. On Thursday, Microsoft founder Bill Gates claimed that in a few months the continent may face a “very scary situation” as many people could be unable to heat their homes.

In late September, EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson also predicted that this winter “will not be easy,” but adding that next winter “will be even more difficult.”

In recent months, Brussels has been reeling from an energy crisis fueled by skyrocketing gas prices due to the sanctions the West imposed on Russia over the Ukraine conflict. To alleviate the situation, the EU approved on Friday a package of emergency measures, including mandatory power savings, a cap on excess market revenues, and a levy to capture surplus corporate profits. Officials have also encouraged consumers to save energy by all available means.

Toyota President: California’s Ban on Gas-powered Cars ‘Difficult’ by 2035 Deadline

Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda told reporters Thursday that California’s ban on the sale of new gas-powered vehicles in 2035 will be “difficult” to achieve, given present battery technology and constraints facing the state’s electricity grid.

As Fox News reported, Toyoda was reacting to the new mandate imposed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and the powerful California Air Resources Board (CARB), which will require almost all new car sales to involve electric vehicles in just 12 years.

Fox News noted:

The president of Toyota Motor Corporation said this week that adhering to California’s plan to ban gas emission vehicles will be “difficult” to achieve, and battery powered cars will take longer to phase in than the “mainstream media” believes.

“Realistically speaking, it seems rather difficult to really achieve them,” Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda told reporters through a translator on Thursday discussing California’s new mandates.

Toyoda outlined challenges to EV adoption, including impacts on the electrical grid and lack of easy access to electricity by about one billion people around the world.

As Breitbart News has reported, Gov. Newsom announced his ban on the sale of new gas-powered vehicles in 2035 just a few weeks after the state suffered rolling blackouts during a heat wave in 2020. And last month, the state urged owners of electric vehicles not to charge their cars during afternoon and evening hours due to constraints on electricity supply — just days after CARB cleared the new electric vehicle mandate.

The state’s electricity grid would need to expand power by about 30% to switch California to an all-electric fleet — and would need to do so while eliminating nuclear power and reducing fossil fuels to 10% of energy supply.

Toyota was one of the pioneers in “green” vehicles, introducing the hybrid Prius to great market success a decade and-a-half ago.

In 2014, Toyota moved thousands of jobs out of Torrance, California, and relocated them to a consolidated headquarters in Texas.

Exclusive: Darren Bailey Within ‘Striking Distance’ as Illinois Governor’s Race Tightens — ‘Voters Ready for Change’

“Voters are ready for change” after Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker’s “catastrophic impact,” according to Republican nominee Darren Bailey, who is currently within “striking distance” of his Democratic opponent in the 2022 race for governor of Illinois.

In an exclusive statement to Breitbart News on Sunday, state senator and Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey highlighted the “failure” of Democrat Gov. J. B. Pritzker, calling him “an out-of-touch trust fund billionaire who has abandoned working families.”

According to Bailey, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, residents of the Prairie State have long been victims of the governor’s “terrible” policies.

“Illinoisans have felt the devastating consequences of Pritzker’s terrible policies, from their bank accounts to their safety,” Bailey said. “All of Illinois has felt the catastrophic impact of J.B.’s failure.”

“Voters are ready for change,” he added, “and we will deliver it when we fire Pritzker in November.”

The governor’s race has tightened in recent weeks, as many of the state’s voters become disappointed with Pritzker’s performance, seeing Bailey as a preferable alternative.

According to a fresh poll released Thursday by Fabrizio Lee, Bailey is within “striking distance” of Pritzker.

The poll shows Bailey trailing by merely 5 points (50% – 45%) in the close race, after Pritzker’s lead was twice that (+10) just one month ago, and 50 percent of voters disapprove of Pritzker’s role, 45 percent “strongly” disapproving, and only 31 percent who strongly approve of him.

Last month, Bailey, a third-generation farmer, told Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to get off her “elitist high horse” and “remember who puts food on your plate,” after the Democrat mayor called to send Bailey “back to the farm.”

Due to his tough-on-crime stance, Bailey recently received an endorsement from the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police.

In August, he slammed the state’s SAFE-T (Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today) Act that will end cash bail in Illinois and limit the use of force that police officers are permitted to use.

The new law, passed by Democrats, will freefrom jail thousands of suspects accused of second-degree murder, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, and other violent crimes.

SEC Charges Kim Kardashian for Unlawfully Touting Crypto Security

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced charges against Kim Kardashian for touting on social media a crypto asset security offered and sold by EthereumMax without disclosing the payment she received for the promotion. Kardashian agreed to settle the charges, pay $1.26 million in penalties, disgorgement, and interest, and cooperate with the Commission’s ongoing investigation.

The SEC’s order finds that Kardashian failed to disclose that she was paid $250,000 to publish a post on her Instagram account about EMAX tokens, the crypto asset security being offered by EthereumMax. Kardashian’s post contained a link to the EthereumMax website, which provided instructions for potential investors to purchase EMAX tokens.

"This case is a reminder that, when celebrities or influencers endorse investment opportunities, including crypto asset securities, it doesn’t mean that those investment products are right for all investors," said SEC Chair Gary Gensler. "We encourage investors to consider an investment’s potential risks and opportunities in light of their own financial goals."

"Ms. Kardashian’s case also serves as a reminder to celebrities and others that the law requires them to disclose to the public when and how much they are paid to promote investing in securities," Chair Gensler added.

"The federal securities laws are clear that any celebrity or other individual who promotes a crypto asset security must disclose the nature, source, and amount of compensation they received in exchange for the promotion," said Gurbir S. Grewal, Director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement. "Investors are entitled to know whether the publicity of a security is unbiased, and Ms. Kardashian failed to disclose this information."

The SEC’s order finds that Kardashian violated the anti-touting provision of the federal securities laws. Without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings, Kardashian agreed to pay the aforementioned $1.26 million, including approximately $260,000 in disgorgement, which represents her promotional payment, plus prejudgment interest, and a $1,000,000 penalty. Kardashian also agreed to not promote any crypto asset securities for three years.

The SEC’s investigation, which is continuing, is being conducted by Jon A. Daniels, Alison R. Levine, and Pamela Sawhney of the Enforcement Division’s Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit, and Kerri Palen, Lisa Knoop and Victor Suthammanont of the New York Regional Office. The case was supervised by Mark R. Sylvester of the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit and Carolyn Welshhans.

Not content with the U.S. Supreme Court's perverse ruling blocking the Trump administration from reinstating a plainly constitutional citizenship question in the 2020 U.S. census, and the Census Bureau's apparent insubordination under Trump, House Democrats recently passed legislation making it still more difficult for a future administration to reinstate the citizenship question, and further insulating the Bureau from accountability to any president.

While the "Ensuring a Fair and Accurate Census Act" will do nothing of the sort, it does represent an inadvertent admission of failure in the last census—one of mammoth proportions, and with massive political implications, that you likely have not heard about.

The fact that such a failure has garnered minimal coverage and therefore public attention, while manifesting itself in the corruption of our republican system, demonstrates the disingenuousness of our ruling regime's otherwise-hysterical "democracy defenders."

The failure lies in the census count itself, which according to the Census Bureau's own research was grossly inaccurate, and therefore grossly unfair to the American people.

While the Bureau, in conducting its Post-Enumeration Survey, only found a relatively small net undercount in the total U.S. population of 0.24%—or approximately 780,000 people—it also found major overcount/undercount errors when it comes to the 50 states.

And strikingly, it appears one party seems to have overwhelmingly benefited from the errors. You can probably guess which.

As The Heritage Foundation's Hans von Spakovsky, a former Federal Election Commissioner, has highlighted, per its post-2020 census survey, the Census Bureau significantly undercounted the populations of, in descending order by percentage: Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Illinois, and Texas. So of states with errant population counts to the downside, all but one—Illinois—was a red state. Conversely, eight states were overcounted, all but one of which—Utah—were blue.

Of the Democrat-dominated states that received overcounts, among the largest overcount errors could be found in none other than Joe Biden's home state of Delaware, whose population was overcounted by an estimated 5.4%.

The Bureau uncovered these errors by surveying a representative sample of households across the country with the same census questions to which they had responded in 2020, and comparing the two sets of answers.

These errors flow through our political system in hugely significant ways. For starters, congressional seats are apportioned based on the census count. That apportionment, of course, impacts the Electoral College and therefore presidential races. Numerous states also based their recent redistricting on census figures. And last but not least, some $1.5 trillion in federal funds annually are allocated to jurisdictions based on the census figures.

According to von Spakovsky, as a result of the errors, historically blue Minnesota should have lost a congressional seat.

Light blue Colorado was awarded a new congressional seat to which it was not entitled.

The same goes for bright blue Rhode Island.

Meanwhile, red states Texas and Florida should have gained one and two seats respectively, but did not.

To put the size of the miscounts in perspective, Minnesota's population overcount of 3.8% equates to more than 215,000 people.

Texas's undercount of 1.9% equates to more than half a million people.

The legacy media have harped on reported undercounts of blacks and Latinos, and overcounts of whites and Asians, but have not focused on the glaring state-level errors.

John Durham's special counsel investigation has hindered Congress as lawmakers seek to root out FBI misconduct and examine the shady business dealings of Hunter Biden, according to Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI).

Blame was cast during a recent interview on Newsmax in which Johnson vented about a dearth of successful prosecutions in Durham's endeavor, which appears to be wrapping up as the prosecutor takes the alleged main source for a now-infamous dossier alleging ties between former President Donald Trump and Russia to court this month. The senator said he was unsatisfied, noting the lack of a conviction against lawyer Michael Sussmann, who was acquitted in May.

"Our efforts in terms of investigating Hunter Biden, and corruption within the FBI was certainly hampered because we had an active criminal investigation under John Durham," Johnson said.

This tracks with what Johnson said in April about congressional investigators being "denied access" to information during Durham's inquiry and calling it a "problem." But more information has trickled out in court.

In one significant court filing last month, Durham alleged Igor Danchenko, the Russian-born lawyer charged with five counts of making false statements tied to what he told the FBI about the dossier, was a paid confidential human source for the FBI. This led Johnson and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to request all FBI and Justice Department records related to government payments to Danchenko, counterintelligence concerns he posed, and the FBI’s decision to rely on him. The Virginia trial of Danchenko, who has pleaded not guilty, is scheduled to begin on Oct 11.

The Newsmax interview with Johnson began with hosts Sean Spicer, Trump's first White House press secretary, and Lyndsay Keith, discussing dozens of FBI whistleblowers that Republican lawmakers say have come forward to them in recent months to raise allegations of politicization in the bureau. One of those lawmakers is Johnson, who has also investigated Hunter Biden, the adult son of President Joe Biden, and raised concerns about influence peddling.

Although Johnson suggested Durham's investigation, which is looking for misconduct in the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane investigation and has secured one conviction so far, poses a roadblock for congressional oversight, Republicans are gearing up for a wider investigation into the allegations of FBI malfeasance if they win control of at least one chamber in the November midterm elections.

As for Durham, Johnson said "at a minimum" he hopes whatever report the special counsel submits by the end of his investigation to Attorney General Merrick Garland is made public.

"The American public deserves to know the truth of the corruption that was occurring within the Department of Justice and the FBI," Johnson said.

Hundreds of Virginians have had their guns confiscated from them through red-flag laws since those rules went into effect more than two years ago, according to data in the Virginia Firearms Transaction Center.

Red-flag laws allow police to seize firearms from a person if a judge deems him or her to be a threat to himself or others, ''even if that person has not been convicted of a crime, charged with a crime or even accused of a crime.'' The laws passed the General Assembly when Democrats had control of both chambers and were signed by former Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam. The legislation received staunch opposition from the Republican minority at the time.

Virginia judges have issued at least 327 emergency substantial risk protection orders, which allow police to temporarily confiscate firearms to address an immediate risk. Judges have issued 257 permanent substantial risk protection orders, which confiscate the guns permanently, unless overturned through the court system. The data runs from July 1, 2020, when the law went into effect, through August 2022. The data does not state how many guns were confiscated from the individuals.

Gun groups have been critical of the law ever since it was proposed because of how much authority is granted to a judge and because a person might have his guns seized before he has a chance to defend himself in court.

“Red Flag laws are an invention of the gun-control crowd and ''are unconstitutional due to their usurpation of Due Process,” ''Philip Van Cleave, the president of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, told The Center Square.

“Red Flag laws are an easy way for [the] government to confiscate guns without getting a person any help or giving the person a chance to defend against any false accusations for up to two weeks,” Van Cleave said. “The person has no idea that they have been accused of anything until the police show up at their door to get their guns.”

Van Cleave said the commonwealth already has two better laws in place: the temporary detention order and the emergency custody order. These laws allow magistrates to temporarily detain a person who may be a risk to himself or others due to a problem with mental illness and provide them with mental health services. Red-flag laws, he noted, do not even direct people to mental health treatment after confiscating their firearms.

Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America, told The Center Square that these laws are contrary to due process protections.

“Red Flag gun confiscation orders turn our legal system on its head,” Pratt said. “For centuries, the standard has been ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ But Red Flag laws reverse that standard into ‘guilty until proven innocent,’ because they throw real Due Process out the window – revoking someone’s Second Amendment rights without a jury trial or right to counsel. Not surprisingly, at least a third of red flag orders are initiated against innocent people – and the guns which are erroneously confiscated can take up to nine months to return. These laws have even been used to disarm women – such as the case in California where a cheating husband used the state’s red flag law to disarm his wife, who was a concealed carrier.”

Republicans have introduced legislation to repeal red-flag laws in Virginia, but have been unsuccessful. Although the state now has a Republican governor and a Republican-controlled House of Delegates, the Senate has a Democratic majority.

A woman who moved to Portland, Oregon, for its leftist values was offended by the mayor’s reaction on Wednesday when speaking about the city’s homeless problem.

Gillian Rose shared criticisms during a virtual city council meeting and said the encampments all over the city were a huge problem for everyone, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

“You have to stop enabling this,” she pleaded. “I’m angry and I’m sad and I’m fed up, and I’m so sick of having politicians pander to a woke agenda that’s been nothing short of an epic failure.”

However, Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) chuckled, then said, “Thank you, you’ve made your point emphatically clear. Thank you for being here and sharing your perspective, we do appreciate it.”

In August, one Portland resident described the area near his home where he experienced the problem on a daily basis.

However, it took neighbors hundreds of phone calls and emails to get city officials to do anything about it, according to a video from KGW News:

Maggie Haberman Talks About Reporting on Donald Trump

Donald Trump is the leading candidate to be the Republican nominee for president — for the third straight election — and he’s also a subject of multiple criminal investigations. My colleague Maggie Haberman has been covering him the entire time and has written a book about him, “Confidence Man,” being published tomorrow. She often broke stories in The Times that she uncovered while reporting for the book.

For today’s newsletter, I spoke with Maggie about what she’s learned, about how much the media should cover Trump and about what’s likely next for him.

David: You’ve spent more time covering and interviewing Trump than almost anybody, back to your days observing him when you were a New York Post reporter in the 1990s. You’ve also pointed out that he lies a lot. Given that, I’m curious: How does interviewing him help you better capture reality when he is not confined by reality?

Maggie: He’s a former president and a potential future candidate, with huge influence over the party. Among other things, interviewing him helps illuminate how he keeps that influence: his obsession with us-versus-them politics, with salesmanship and with presenting a version of himself that is often very different from who he actually is.

Additionally, there are moments of unintended candor by him.

David: Yes, like his comments to you about the letters from Kim Jong-un that Trump apparently kept after leaving the White House.That’s gotten a lot of attention recently. (You can listen to the clip below.)

Maggie: It was a question I asked on a lark, during our third interview for my book, held at his club at Bedminster, N.J., on Sept. 16, 2021. I asked him if he had taken any “memento” documents from the White House, knowing how proud he had been of items like his letters from the authoritarian Kim Jong-un.

Trump’s immediate response was to deny having taken anything significant, saying, “Nothing of great urgency, no,” before — unsolicited — mentioning the Kim Jong-un letters, appearing to suggest he had them in his possession. A few months later, we learned he had a huge trove of White House material, including dozens of individual documents with classified markings.

David: As I listened to the clip, it felt like part of a pattern with him. He was certainly not being straightforward. But he was also being just vague and confusing enough that it was hard to pin down exactly what he was saying. As the journalist Joe Klein has written, referring to this larger pattern, “He deployed words with a litigator’s precision — even if it sounded the opposite.”

Maggie: That’s exactly it, and one of the difficulties of interviewing him, or tracking what he says, is he is often both all over the place and yet somewhat careful not to cross certain lines. This was a hallmark of his business career, when he would tell employees not to take notes, although behind closed doors with employees he tended to be clearer in his directives.

At his rally at the Ellipse on Jan. 6, he told people to go “peacefully and patriotically” but also directed them to the Capitol with apocalyptic language about the election. Frequently, people around him understand the implications of words, even when he’s not being direct.

David: Our readers can also listen to a clip of him telling you that he wasn’t watching the Jan. 6 rally on television. Isn’t there widespread documentation to the contrary?

Maggie: His aides told The Times that day and in the following days that he was watching television, and a public hearing held this year by the House committee investigating Jan. 6 documented that he was watching television. It represents two things, I think — his desire to construct an alternate reality, and his particular sensitivity to anyone suggesting he watches a lot of television, which he associates with people diminishing his intelligence (even though he watches a very large amount of television).

David: How do you approach an interview with Trump?

Maggie: I try to get specific pieces of information, answers that only he would have, even with all the caveats about what can be believed coming out of his mouth. One example was when I asked if he would be facing the same legal troubles if Robert Morgenthau, the former Manhattan district attorney, still held the office. His answer was no, because Morgenthau was “a friend of mine.” That was revealing about Trump’s engagement with prosecutors, as he has escaped one investigation after another over years.

Maggie: I think the criticism about too much coverage of Donald Trump felt very real to his primary opponents in 2016, and often to the Clinton campaign. But I would argue that he was leading the polls in the primaries and that the coverage was often not what one would call flattering.

What I think is a significant criticism deals with the decades before, when he built this image of himself, with each news story serving as a brick in the artifice, as a self-made business tycoon. He definitely had successes, but he was reliant on his father in ways the public didn’t see and, thanks in part to the Times reporting on his tax returns, learned about years later. That’s something the industry needs to reckon with.

Now, he’s a former president with a huge following, as he undermines faith in elections and embraces conspiracy theories. I’m not sure there’s a good argument for ignoring him, because he still gets heard through other means. There is a good argument for contextualizing him.

David: What happens next? Does he want to be president again or just get revenge on Biden? And what do you think motivates him?

Maggie: I think Trump misses the pomp and legal protections that the presidency afforded him. I also think he wants revenge on Biden, and on the media, and on a whole range of people. And he wants to be able to continue to raise money and get attention, both of which disappear if he doesn’t run. What I’m not clear on is that he really wants to wage another campaign, in part because he’s that much older and in part because he seems less engaged generally. But that will reveal itself in the coming weeks or months.

“So slender has this marathon made them, it’s as if their heads and bodies are strangers, a look emphasised by the unusual clothes – leather trousers and cotton tops,” Lewisohn in the statement. “No other photos show them dressed this way.”

Russian State Duma ratifies accession treaties for Donbass, Kherson, and Zaporozhye

The lower house of parliament backed the documents after President Vladimir Putin introduced the bill

The State Duma has unanimously ratified the treaties on the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, to Russia.

President Vladimir Putin submitted the documents regarding the four former Ukrainian territories to the lower house of parliament on Sunday. All four voted overwhelmingly in favor of joining Russia in referendums held between September 23 and 27.

Addressing legislators before the vote, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that accession will “serve the interests of all people of our multiethnic country.”

He added that Kiev had oppressed Russian-speaking people, which made the existence of certain territories within the Ukrainian state impossible.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin argued that accession to Russia is the only way to save the people living in the four former Ukrainian territories from shelling by Ukrainian troops. “The only way to end this is reunification [with Russia],” he said.

The accession treaties, which were signed by Putin on Friday, were then approved by the Russian Constitutional Court.

The next step in the accession process is ratification by the Federation Council, the upper house of Russia’s parliament.

The DPR and LPR broke off from Ukraine shortly after the 2014 coup in Kiev. Russia recognized them as independent states in February.

Ukraine’s southern Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions were seized by Russian troops during Moscow’s military operation in the neighboring country, which was launched on February 24. They declared independence in the wake of last week’s referendums and, along with the DPR and LPR, requested to be admitted into Russia.

Ukraine, along with Western countries, considers the vote illegal and refused to recognize the accession.

Kremlin comments on borders of new territories

The government will consult with residents of Kherson and Zaporozhye, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said

Moscow has yet to determine the future borders of Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, which are set to be incorporated into Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told journalists.

“We will continue to consult with the residents of those regions on the issue of borders,” the official said on Monday.

The two former Ukrainian regions voted last month to break away from Kiev and request being accepted into Russia. However, parts of them are still controlled by Ukrainian troops.

The issue of borders came up last week, when President Vladimir Putin signed orders recognizing the two regions’ independence. The documents did not include any reference to the demarcation of the territories. When asked by journalists for clarification, Peskov promised to give an answer later.

Further complicating the situation is the fact that Russian forces are in control of a small chunk of Ukraine’s Nikolaev Region, which borders Kherson Region. Vladimir Saldo, the head of the Kherson administration, claimed last week that the land would be incorporated into Russia as part of his region.

This week, the Russian parliament is scheduled to ratify the unification treaties with the two regions, as well as the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The latter two territories, which were recognized as independent by Russia in February, are defined “in the 2014 borders,”according to Peskov.

Russian troops and Donbass militias have since seized much of the disputed land, but not all of it.

Kiev blasted the referendums that paved the way for the accession as a “sham” and reiterated its intention to defeat Russia on the battlefield and oust its troops from all land that it claims as Ukrainian. Moscow said the ballots were a legitimate exercise of the right to self-determination.

Ukraine grain deal not enough – Moscow

‘Hidden’ sanctions on Russian exports should be lifted, agriculture minister says

The deal that unblocked Ukrainian grain exports is not enough to help poor nations put food on the table, Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said in an interview with RBK news, published on Monday.

“As part of this deal, about 4.6 million tons of agro-industrial products were exported from Ukrainian ports. The main product, a little less than half, was corn, about 1.2 million tons was wheat. Of course, this cannot cover the needs of starving countries, including the need for grain. In fact, it is merely a variation in the global market,” the minister stated. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko recently said that, according to estimations, the global grain market is about 800 million tons.

Patrushev also noted that themain recipients of Ukrainian grain are European countries, which “are not countries that really need it.”

The official explained that Russian agricultural products could make a difference, but there are still restrains, which need to be overcome.

“There are still barriers that continue to hold back our exports. If we call things by their proper names – these are hidden sanctions on the transportation of [Russian] products… Primarily, it is the limited availability of ships. International logistics companies prefer not to work with our exporters,” the minister explained. He also noted, however, that the problems are being worked out with exporters, and Russian companies which have their own fleet have fewer problems in that area.

According to Patrushev, since the beginning of the agricultural year which stared on July 1, Russia has already delivered about 8.3 million tons of grain to foreign markets, “and the growth rate of exports is increasing every day.”

“This season we see an opportunity to supply no less, and maybe even more than 50 million tons of grain to the world market. In the second half of 2022 we will be able to export up to 30 million tons. This is exactly the volume that we promised within the framework of our agreements with the UN to solve the problem of world hunger,” the minister said.

Truss has ‘worst’ approval of UK PM since 2010 – poll

A survey shows that she is less popular than Boris Johnson before his resignation

British Prime Minister Liz Truss’ personal approval rating is lower than her predecessor Boris Johnson’s was right before he was forced to resign this year, a recent Opinium/Observer poll has shown.

According to the survey of 2,000 people, which was conducted between September 28 and 30 and released on Saturday,only 18% of Britons approve of the job Truss is doing, and 55% disapprove.

This places her net approval at -37, down from -9 a week ago, which is worse than the -28 that Johnson had in the final Opinium poll before he stepped down as Tory leader in July.

“This is the worst poll result we have shown for a Conservative prime minister since the 2010 general election,” James Crouch, the head of policy and public affairs at Opinium, told The Guardian.

Liz Truss has managed to reach the depths of the poor personal ratings of both Theresa May and Boris Johnson at the end of their tenure,within weeks of taking office and within days of her government’s first major action.

By contrast, the net approval of Labour Party leader Keir Starmer has grown from -4 to +9 over the course of a week.

The poll came out as the government is looking for ways to tackle inflation and soaring energy prices. It has responded to the crisis by increasing the caps on energy prices.

Truss argued that the measure will stop average annual household bills from rising next year to as high as £6,500, a figure estimated by experts.

Protests against the increasing cost of living, during which people publicly burned their utility bills, were held across the UK on Saturday.
