The cousin of Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors died after being tased by the police. Keenan Anderson, a 31-year-old English teacher, was tased to death on Jan. 3 following a traffic stop in Venice, California.

 

Bodycam footage shows a belligerent, smirking Anderson, a driver who caused an accident, running into traffic, ignoring at least a dozen requests to sit and stop running away, and resisting arrest when he kept darting into heavy traffic, calling out "George Floyd" as they warned him a half dozen times he'd be tazed, before finally tazing him.

A pigeon was caught by Canadian authorities after it was discovered the pigeon had a backpack full of crystal meth.

 

The bird was found in the prison yard at the Pacific Institution correctional facility in Vancouver, Canada.

 

John Randle who serves as the Pacific regional president of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers, stated the pigeon that was captured by correction officers was carrying a miniature backpack with 30 grams of crystal meth.

One reason to suspect the full Biden classified docs story is huge is because of the gentle and highly orchestrated roll-out of the info through admin allies in the propaganda press, in some cases the same reporters used for the Russia collusion hoax.

FBI surveillance of Americans includes:

 

β€’ Domestic FBI probes, called β€œassessments,” for which the bureau solicits data from the CIA and NSA so as to prevent federal crimes and national security threats.

 

β€’ Probe criteria, mainly an β€œauthorized purpose” and clear objective, that do not require the possession of a court warrant.

FDIC Chairman Jelena McWilliams announced her resignation on Friday after warning that Democrats had launched a β€œhostile takeover” of the agency.

McWilliams resigned in an open letter addressed to President Biden.

Years after promising that it would stop spying on Americans, the country's intelligence agency is accused of running a secret programme that is undermining the country's democracy.

Newly declassified documents reveal that the CIA has a secret undisclosed surveillance program that captures Americans' private information.

 

In an open letter, US senators alleged the CIA had long hidden details about the program from the public and Congress.

 

Democratic party senators Ron Wyden of Oregon and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico said that the CIA's secret interpretation of the law "undermine democratic oversight and pose risks" to the country.

 

Responding to the revelations, the American Civil Liberties Union said that "these reports raise serious questions about what information of ours the CIA is vacuuming up in bulk and how the agency exploits that information to spy on Americans. This invasion of our privacy must stop."

 

The letter notes that the program was "entirely outside the statutory framework that Congress and the public believe govern this collection, and without any of the judicial, congressional or even executive branch oversight that comes from [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] collection."

 

The US senators called for more details about the program to be declassified. Large parts of the letter, which was sent in April 2021 and were declassified on Thursday, and documents released by the CIA were blacked out.

 

"Rogue agencies like the NSA, FBI, and CIA are a more serious threat to liberty in America than the enemies they claim to protect us from," said a former US congressman following the revelations.

 

Edward Snowden, the former intelligence consultant who leaked highly classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013, has long raised concerns that US intelligence agencies violate Americans' civil liberties by collecting their data with little oversight.

 

The CIA and the NSA have a foreign mission and are generally barred from investigating Americans domestically.

 

Snowden revealed the NSA had access to bulk data through US internet providers and hundreds of millions of call records from telecommunications providers of US citizens. Those revelations sparked worldwide outrage.

 

US journalist Glenn Greenwald said following the latest revelations that "the CIA is a criminal organization. Their interference in US politics is particularly pernicious."

 

Another critic of the CIA surveillance programme noted that the agency "is a threat to our civil liberties."

 

US law enforcement agencies have for decades been accused of operating illegally to spy on citizens.

 

In the 1960s, the FBI spied on the US civil rights movement and secretly recorded the conversations of Dr Martin Luther King.

 

In what was called Operation Chaos, the CIA investigated whether the movement opposing the Vietnam War had links to foreign countries in a bid to undermine the movement.

Cohen has brought the issue up in all his conversations with international diplomats who have called to congratulate him since he took office last week.

France’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday it had not ruled out the idea that the European Union would designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization, a day after Germany said the move would be politically important and make sense.

 

Given the continuation of this repression, France is working with its European partners on new sanctions measures, French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anne-Claire Legendre told reporters in a daily briefing when asked whether Paris supported designating the IRGC.

 

Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Monday said that a new round of sanctions would not be enough.

 

β€œListing the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization is politically important and makes sense,” she said on Twitter, adding that legal hurdles still needed to be cleared before it could be done.

 

Designating the IRGC as a terrorist group would mean that it would become a criminal offense to belong to the group, attend its meetings and carry its logo in public.

CNN Defense of Biden Collapses as 2nd Batch of Classified Documents Found

 

CNN’s defense this week of President Joe Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified documents β€” β€œUnder 12 Total” β€” collapsed Wednesday when a second batch of classified documents was reportedly found in another location.

 

Mainstream media organizations leapt to Biden’s defense when it emerged that ten documents with classified markings were found in Biden’s former office at the Penn Biden Center, which was established in 2018.

 

The documents reportedly included briefings with intelligence and military information regarding Iran, Ukraine, and the UK from Biden’s days as vice president. Only the president has declassification authority.

 

CNN tried to portray Biden’s mishandling of classified documents as less bad than Trump’s alleged misuse of classified documents, though Trump had declassification authority and there was no way CNN could have known with certainty that the documents found at the Penn Biden Center were the only ones mishandled.

 

However, NBC News reported Wednesday that at least one more batch of classified documents had been found by Biden’s aides at another location connected to him.

 

Just an hour or so before that report, at Wednesday’s White House Press Briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to answer questions about whether then-former Vice President Biden had used other office s were other classified documents might have been kept.

 

Last year, after Trump’s private residence at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, was raided by the FBI, Biden had ripped Trump as irresponsible for his handling of classified documents.

 

There have been no raids on Biden’s homes or offices; his aides and lawyers have been entrusted with the task of uncovering classified that might have been mishandled by Biden or misplaced in various locations he used or inhabited. It is unclear whether any of them has security clearance necessary to handle classified information.

Jan 11 (Reuters) - Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu appointed Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov on Wednesday to oversee the military campaign in Ukraine, in the latest shake-up of Moscow's military leadership.

 

Gerasimov, like Shoigu, has faced sharp criticism from Russia's hawkish military bloggers for multiple setbacks on the battlefield and Moscow's failure to secure victory in a campaign the Kremlin had expected to take just a short time.

 

In a statement, the defence ministry said Shoigu had appointed Gerasimov as commander of the combined forces group for the "special military operation" in Ukraine. It is the most senior position among Russia's battlefield generals.

Only last October, Russia had put Sergey Surovikin, nicknamed "General Armageddon" by the Russian media for his reputed ruthlessness, in overall charge of Ukraine operations following a series of counter-offensives by Ukrainian forces that turned the tide of the conflict.

 

Surovikin will now stay on as a deputy of Gerasimov, the defence ministry said.

 

The changes are designed to increase the effectiveness of military operations in Ukraine, it said, more than 10 months into a campaign in which tens of thousands of soldiers on both sides as well as Ukrainian civilians have been killed.

 

"The increase in the level of leadership of the special military operation is connected with the expansion in the scale of tasks … the need to organise closer contact between different branches of the armed forces and improve the quality … and effectiveness of the management of Russian forces," the ministry statement said.

 

CRITICISM

Russian pro-war commentators were not impressed.

 

"The sum does not change, just by changing the places of its parts," wrote one prominent military blogger who posts on the Telegram messaging app under the name of Rybar.

 

He said Surovikin, a veteran of Russian campaigns in Chechnya and Syria, was being made the fall guy for a series of recent Russian military failures, including a Ukrainian attack on a Russian barracks in the town of Makiivka that killed at least 89 Russian soldiers, including conscripts, at New Year.

 

Military analyst Rob Lee, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, said on Twitter that Gerasimov's appointment reasserted the defence ministry's position in the conduct of the war.

 

"I don't think this is because Surovikin is viewed as a failure. (It is) certainly possible that this was driven by political reasons. As the unified commander in Ukraine, Surovikin was becoming very powerful and was likely bypassing Shoigu/Gerasimov when talking to Putin," Lee said.

 

Political analyst Abbas Gallyamov noted on Telegram that the move followed the transfer of another top general, Alexander Lapin, to the role of land forces chief on Tuesday.

 

"All this moving of the same individuals from one chair to another, at the height of military hostilities, may say whatever you like but not that 'everything is going according to plan'", Gallyamov said.

 

Russian and Ukrainian forces were engaged in intense fighting on Wednesday over the town of Soledar in eastern Ukraine, a stepping stone in Moscow's push to capture the entire Donbas region. The Russians appeared to have the upper hand.

Group Targeting Musk’s Twitter For β€˜Climate Misinformation’ Is Linked To Fusion GPS, Disinformation Campaign

 

A group behind a study finding an increase in β€œclimate change misinformation” on Elon Musk’s Twitter also funded Fusion GPS, the private investigative firm behind the debunked Steele dossier, as well as another group reportedly connected to an election disinformation campaign.

 

Advance Democracy, a non-profit helmed by ex-Democratic staffer Daniel Jones, shared a study exclusively with USA Today Tuesday claiming that instances of posts referencing terms including β€œclimate fraud,” β€œclimate hoax” and β€œclimate scam” increased more than 300% in 2022. However, Advance Democracy has funded groups behind now-debunked claims involving the 2016 presidential election, as well as a group reportedly connected to a disinformation campaign in the 2017 Alabama special Senate election.

 

The non-profit in 2020 paid $140,000 to Bean LLC, the parent company of Fusion GPS, for β€œresearch consulting” services. Fusion GPS was hired by Perkins Coie, a Democrat-linked law firm retained by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, to conduct opposition research on the Trump campaign between April 2016 and October 2016; Fusion GPS commissioned Christopher Steele to produce a now-discredited opposition research report on the Trump campaign, according to public tax filings.

 

Many of the Steele dossier’s allegations have been subsequently debunked and proven false.

 

Advance Democracy has previously funded Fusion’s parent company to the tune of $6,051,251 as of 2020, according to the Washington Examiner’s review of earlier tax filings.

 

Additionally, Advance Democracy paid $540,000 to the research firm Yonder, according to public tax filings; Yonder was previously known as New Knowledge, the Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. New Knowledge CEO Jonathon Morgan reportedly participated in a disinformation operation during the 2017 Alabama special Senate election between Doug Jones and Roy Moore, ostensibly to study how Russian disinformation campaigns during the 2016 election operated, according to The New York Times.

 

However, the campaign was intended to help Doug Jones, according to the NYT, and attempted to link Moore to thousands of fake Russian accounts.

 

β€œWe orchestrated an elaborate β€˜false flag’ operation that planted the idea that the Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet,” an internal report read, according to the NYT.

 

New Knowledge was also reported to have been behind a report at the request of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that investigated Russian influence in the 2016 election, arguing Americans’ unease with censorship put the U.S. at a disadvantage with regards to foreign disinformation. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence then issued a report on Russian interference in the 2016 election which cited New Knowledge’s research extensively.
