Former UK Defense Minister Says NATO May Need To Send Ground Forces To Ukraine

The "domino theory" was once used to great effect in order to manipulate the American public into supporting the Vietnam War, but will the same narrative work to get the west to support World War III with Russia?

Former UK Defense Minister Sir Gerald Howarth seems to think so as he uses this exact claim to justify NATO boots on the ground in Ukraine.

It should be noted that a large percentage of the American populace and most of Europe have no interest whatsoever in engaging with Russia and possibly its allies in all out war, but the establishment appears intent on forcing the issue anyway. The delivery of NATO tanks and the possibility of longer range missiles will no doubt trigger a wider response from Russia, which will then be used by NATO as a reason to escalate further.

At the very least, Howarth does admit what many in the alternative media have been saying for some time - That Ukraine's efforts have ground to a halt without further support from NATO troops. The deliveries of money and weapons are nothing more than a stop-gap; wars are won by men.

The former minister suggests that Ukraine is essentially too big to fail and that NATO cannot allow Russia to prevail in the region, otherwise they will be emboldened to strike other nearby nations. There is zero evidence to support this argument, but it is clear that NATO talking heads are desperate to drum up some kind of public fervor.

Are western citizens willing to fight and die for Ukraine? It's highly unlikely.

I went ballistic when I first saw this.

The “NFL is rigged” conversation has been happening for years now, but with how things went down in the Jan. 29 AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals (specifically with the officiating), the talks have ratcheted up.

And now, former Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster is getting involved, throwing some fuel into the fire with one statement: “The league is scripted.”

Speaking on his “Macrodosing” podcast with PFT Commenter, Foster elaborated on an off-air comment alleging that NFL players receive a script.

“We were really dedicated to [the NFL’s script],” said Foster. “So, it was more, like, that’s what practice was about, practicing the script. This is what goes on. This is what we have to do … It’s like WWF, so we know what’s going to happen, but you still have to put on a show.”

This led to current Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey also claiming that “giving up 200 to Chase was just me following the script.”

When I first saw this clip — I won’t lie — I freaked out.

But when you look deeper into it and watch more of the podcast for context (which I did), it sounds like everything was just a big goof. And by the way, great marketing from these guys to use this clip to promote their show amid all of the ratcheted up “NFL is rigged” talk. PFT Commenter even brilliantly said, “can we clip just that part?”

And they did, hilariously without any context, and now it has everybody talking about their show. Just genius.

A top executive of the Trump Organization is expected to appear Thursday before a Manhattan grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump’s alleged role in a hush money payment scheme, people familiar with the matter said.

The executive, Jeffrey McConney, the controller of the Trump Organization, is one of the highest-ranking financial officers at the company and has responsibility for its books and records.

McConney’s planned appearance comes as prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney’s office are accelerating their investigation into the hush money scheme to stop adult film star Stormy Daniels from going public about a past affair with Trump just before the 2016 presidential election. (Trump has denied the affair.)

A spokesperson for District Attorney Alvin Bragg declined to comment. An attorney for McConney did not respond to requests for comment.

In recent weeks prosecutors have spoken with witnesses central to the hush money deal. This week prosecutors met with David Pecker, the former publisher of the National Enquirer. Two weeks ago, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney who pleaded guilty to federal campaign finance charges for facilitating a $130,000 payment to Daniels, returned for his first meeting with prosecutors under Bragg’s leadership. Cohen told “CNN This Morning” on Wednesday that prosecutors asked for his cell phones to obtain voice recordings he made of conversations he had with Keith Davidson, the attorney who arranged the deal for Daniels. Davidson has also been contacted by prosecutors in recent weeks for a future meeting, a source previously told CNN. Davidson had previously been subpoenaed by prosecutors for records, the source said.

Prosecutors are looking into whether Trump and his company falsified business records by improperly designating the reimbursement as a legal expense. That charge is a misdemeanor in New York unless it can be tied to another crime, such as campaign finance laws.

They are presenting witness testimony before a recently empaneled grand jury, people familiar with the matter said. The start of the presentation does not mean a decision has been made whether to seek charges against Trump or anyone else. Trump has denied knowing about the hush money payment.

Prosecutors working under the previous DA, Cy Vance, had explored bringing charges related to the hush money scheme but some attorneys on the team were not convinced that a charge involving a federal election law violation would survive legal challenges, people familiar with the investigation told CNN. One of those former prosecutors, Mark Pomerantz, who resigned last year in protest after he was not allowed to seek charges against Trump, is publishing a book next week promising an “inside account” of the past effort to investigate Trump.

The current focus of the DA’s investigation, which was once homed in on the accuracy of the Trump Organization’s financial statements, has returned to the real estate company’s handling of the hush money payment and whether it violated New York laws, people familiar with the matter said.

McConney previously testified before the grand jury eight times, according to his testimony at the Trump Organization’s tax fraud trial last year. In New York, individuals who appear before a grand jury are granted immunity from prosecution unless they lie under oath.

McConney was not a willing witness, according to his own testimony. He testified that he refused to meet with prosecutors to prepare for his testimony ahead of trial, which ended in conviction.

The judge allowed prosecutors to treat McConney, who was identified as a co-conspirator in the tax fraud scheme, as a hostile witness after finding he gave evasive answers to the prosecutor trying to question him. The Trump Organization, McConney testified, was footing his legal bills.

McConney reported to Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer, and oversaw the general ledger that tracks payments.

At issue in the investigation is the payment made to Daniels and the Trump Organization’s reimbursement to Cohen.

According to court filings in Cohen’s federal prosecution, Trump Organization executives authorized payments to him totaling $420,000 to cover his original $130,000 payment and tax liabilities, and reward him with a bonus.

Trump Organization executives decided to pay monthly installments to Cohen who submitted invoices requesting payment pursuant to a “retainer agreement.”

In one example, prosecutors said an invoice seeking $35,000 for two months was forwarded from one executive to another, who approved the payment. Prosecutors alleged the first executive forwarded that email to another employee, stating: “Please pay from the Trust. Post to legal expenses. Put ‘retainer for the months of January and February 2017’ in the description.”

Federal prosecutors alleged there was no retainer agreement and that the company falsely recorded those payments as legal expenses in their corporate books. They took no action against Trump or the company. Cohen pleaded guilty to eight crimes, including violating campaign finance laws in connection with that payment.

The long-simmering tensions between former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) are nearing a boiling point amid signs that DeSantis and his team are actively moving toward a 2024 presidential run. 

DeSantis’s national ambitions have long irked Trump, who sees himself as the Florida governor’s political benefactor and the GOP’s presumptive 2024 nominee. But Trump’s frustration became more apparent over the weekend, when he called out DeSantis during his first major campaign swing. 

“If he runs, that’s fine. I’m way up in the polls. He’s going to have to do what he wants to do, but he may run,” Trump told The Associated Press in an interview after a campaign appearance in South Carolina on Saturday. “I do think it would be a great act of disloyalty because, you know, I got him in. He had no chance. His political life was over.”

It wasn’t the first time that Trump took direct aim at DeSantis, but his latest comments come amid signs that the Florida governor’s presidential ambitions may be taking on a more tangible form.

Advisers to DeSantis have begun reaching out to potential hires, including several veteran Republican staffers and operatives, according to a person familiar with the moves. The Washington Post reported over the weekend that two top DeSantis campaign veterans — Phil Cox and Generra Peck — were involved in discussions about a 2024 run.

That belief has put him and Trump on an almost-inevitable collision course as they vie for dominance within the GOP. 

“I do think DeSantis is going to run. Ninety-eight percent chance,” one Florida Republican operative said. “If you’re DeSantis, I think you’d love to wait until 2028. But you have a particular window. You have to keep the name ID up.”

“On the other hand, I think Donald Trump knows this is his last chance to run,” the operative added. “The idea of trying again in four years — that’s just too much of a reach, even for him.”

Regardless of whether DeSantis eventually launches a campaign, Trump’s patience appears to be wearing thin.

Feds Charge Former ABC News Producer With Transportation of Child Pornography

FEDERAL PROSECUTORS HAVE charged former ABC News producer James Gordon Meek with transportation of child pornography, according to a criminal complaint filed in Eastern Virginia on Wednesday. Meek resigned abruptly from his job shortly after federal agents raided his Arlington, Virginia home in April 2022.

Federal prosecutors say their investigation into Meek first began after the cloud storage company Dropbox tipped off the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the presence of five suspected videos of child sexual exploitation material in a Dropbox account, according to the complaint. A subsequent investigation of the tip allegedly confirmed the videos depicted child pornography and were linked to Meek’s account. That triggered an investigation which allegedly found Meek posing as a minor to solicit pornographic images of children.

A coalition of progressive activists bankrolled by George Soros, Charles Koch, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund are mounting a secret lobbying campaign to revive the Iran nuclear deal by tying it to the Iranian human rights movement, according to internal correspondence obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Activists from groups including J Street, NIAC Action, the Open Society Foundations, Human Rights Watch, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund are coming together behind a plan to lobby lawmakers to use human rights bills as cover to revive negotiations for a nuclear deal with Iran. That's according to a January email sent from a J Street lobbyist to other activists and obtained by the Free Beacon.

The activist groups "plan to pursue a dual-track legislative agenda, where they would find a way through legislation to give pro-deal Democrats cover by supporting Iranian women and Iranian human rights, without in any way challenging the revival of a nuclear deal, while at the same time building a coalition of members of the House and Senate willing to write a very public letter to the president urging him to keep the door to diplomacy over on the nuclear file," a source familiar with the discussions told the Free Beacon.

The news comes as U.S. lawmakers are facing increased public pressure to tighten sanctions on Iran amid the Iranian regime's violent crackdown on protesters and continued military support for Russia. The strategy is a sign that even the strongest advocates for the nuclear deal realize the pro-diplomacy position has become politically toxic—and that politicians who want to reenter the agreement will need to at least give the appearance of backing the Iranian human rights movement.

The Iranian regime's violent crackdown on protesters, military expansion in Latin America, and threats against the United States have complicated the Biden administration's attempts to renegotiate the nuclear deal, but supporters of the agreement say the negotiations should continue despite these concerns.

The activists' strategy—crafted during a private summit in New York in December—includes pitching human rights legislation to pro-Iran-deal lawmakers, in order to give the legislators political cover to sign a letter asking the Biden administration to consider resuming the nuclear agreement, a source briefed on the discussions told the Free Beacon.

The activists gathered for a strategy meeting during the week of Dec. 3 at the Pocantico Center at Kykuit, the John D. Rockefeller family's estate in Westchester County, New York, a source familiar with the discussions told the Free Beacon. The 200-acre property houses the family's 40-room stone manor, an underground gallery with artwork by Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, and "expansive Italian-inspired gardens with French and English influences," with views of the Hudson River, according to the New York Times.

J Street's Williams sent the email to a small group of activists, including NIAC Action's Ryan Costello, Open Society's Mike Amitay, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace's Matt Duss. These groups have all received funding from either George Soros or Charles Koch, both political megadonors.

Human Rights Watch declined to comment directly on the lobbying initiative. A spokeswoman for the group said the group "doesn't take a position on the JCPOA," referring to the Iran deal's official initialism, and said it works with "policymakers and others in foreign policy on how to promote and protect human rights in Iran."

"As fears intensify over the Iranian government's increasing use of violence against protesters, Western capitals are under pressure from groups that have long opposed diplomacy with Iran to scrap nuclear negotiations. Europe and the United States should not bow to these pressures," wrote Ellie Geranmayeh, of the European Council on Foreign Relations, in an October article for the Koch-funded Quincy Institute.

Hogan giving ‘very serious consideration’ to White House bid, says Trump won’t be GOP nominee

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) on Wednesday said he is giving “very serious consideration” to running for president in 2024 and added that he does not expect former President Trump to become the Republican nominee. 

Hogan said in an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto” that he was willing to “stand up” and say when he disagreed with actions Trump took as president. He said he agrees with many of Trump’s policies but does not believe the former president would be the GOP’s strongest nominee to win the general election in 2024. 

Hogan said the Republican Party needs a candidate who can appeal to a “broader audience of people” and win swing voters after the party suffered defeats in the 2018 midterms, the 2020 presidential race and the 2022 midterms. 

Many in the Republican Party blamed Trump for the party’s performance in the November 2022 midterms, in which many of the candidates he endorsed during the primaries went on to lose in key races for the House and Senate and in gubernatorial contests. 

“We have been really successful 30 miles outside of Washington, where everything appears to be broken and nothing but divisiveness and dysfunction,” Hogan said, referring to his time as the two-term governor of a solidly Democratic state. 

Hogan has previously said he might jump into the race for the Republican nomination. 

He said Trump still has a “solid group” of people who support him, but an increasing number are no longer backing him. 

Recent polling has shown Trump with large leads over other possible Republican challengers in a hypothetical primary match-up, but he has not received a clear majority of respondents’ support. 

Hogan said serving as a governor is a “training ground” for becoming president. Experience as an executive is different than being a representative or senator, he said.

“You’re out there making arguments and you’re involved in issues, but you don’t have the executive experience of running something,” he said. “So I think there are going to be a number of governors, and I think governors are a good place for us to look for leadership at the national level.” 

Hogan’s comments come as former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley reportedly plans to announce on Feb. 15 that she is running for the Republican nomination. Trump is the only Republican to officially jump into the race so far.

Nikki Haley to announce 2024 presidential run on Feb. 15

Nikki Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and South Carolina governor, is expected to officially announce her 2024 presidential run on Feb. 15 in Charleston, according to two South Carolina Republicans familiar with her plans.

Haley would become the first Republican candidate to join former President Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primary. 

Haley's last hint at a 2024 run came earlier this month during a Fox News interview, in which she called for "generational change" when looking at the future of the country. 

"I don't think you need to be 80 years-old to go be a leader in D.C.," the 51-year-old Haley said. "I think we need a young generation to come in, step up, and really start fixing things."

"When you're looking at a run for president, you look at two things," Haley added. "You first look at, 'Does the current situation push for new leadership?' The second question is, 'Am I that person that could be that new leader?' So, do I think I could be that leader? Yes, but we are still working through things and we'll figure it out. I've never lost a race. I said that then, I still say that now. I'm not going to lose now."

In the 2022 midterm election cycle, through her "Stand for America" PAC, Haley campaigned for Republicans up and down the ticket, and took trips to Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, all early presidential primary states. She was also a closing surrogate on the trail for Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, and Senate candidates Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania and Herschel Walker in Georgia. 

Haley has consistently polled third or fourth in early 2024 GOP primary surveys. In a Trafalgar Group poll in late January of South Carolina primary voters, Haley placed fourth, and got 11.6% of the vote in a field that included Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. 

Scott, another potential 2024 contender from the Palmetto State, is traveling to Iowa for the Polk County Republican party's annual Lincoln Dinner in late February. "Nikki Haley stepped from the governor's office to the international stage at the United Nations, rounding out credentials that would prepare her for a campaign like this. It's like a countdown at NASA, T-minus two weeks and counting," said Dave Wilson, president of the Christian nonprofit Palmetto Family Council.  Haley notched one symbolic win against Trump last year in the primary for South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, when Haley backed Rep. Nancy Mace. Mace defeated Trump's endorsed candidate, former Rep. Katie Arrington, by about nine points. 

Trump told reporters traveling with him Saturday to South Carolina for a campaign stop that Haley had reached out to her ex-boss to inform him that she was considering running for the White House.

"She called me and said she'd like to consider it, and I said, 'You should do it,'" Trump recounted. "I talked to her for a little while. I said, 'Look, you know, go by your heart if you want to run.'"

Haley, a South Carolina native who was the first female and Indian-American governor in state history, told the Associated Press in April 2021 that she would not challenge Trump if he decided to run again. Trump nominated Haley for the U.N. ambassadorship after his win in 2016.

"I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it," Haley said at the time.

Since then, she has suggested repeatedly that she was seriously considering a run. The former South Carolina governor told Fox News that her comments about not running against Trump were made before some perceived flaws of President Biden's administration, such as the withdrawal in Afghanistan and the dramatic rise in inflation.

"When I look at that, I look at the fact [that] if I'm this passionate and I'm this determined, why not me?" Haley told Fox News.

Wilson said "it's no surprise" Haley is the first Republican out of the gate to challenge Trump in a primary. 

"She's the type of person who doesn't ever seem to back away from a challenge," he told CBS News.

Tech giants' bloodbath continues: PayPal is latest to slash 2,000 jobs – about 7% of its workforce – as Amazon, Google and Microsoft are among those who laid off thousands

PayPal said Tuesday it will trim about 7 per cent of its total workforce, or about 2,000 full-time workers, as the digital payments company contends with what it calls 'the challenging macro-economic environment'.

PayPal said it will make the cuts over several weeks, with some of its organizations affected more than others. The company did not further specify. PayPal is the parent of Venmo, Xoom and Honey, among other brands.

The company based in San Jose, California, is the latest in the technology sector to trim its headcount. During the month of January alone, Google, Microsoft and Salesforce announced tens of thousands of layoffs. This has mostly been put down to a need to reduce costs as economic growth slows down around the world.

'Over the past year, we made significant progress in strengthening and reshaping our company to address the challenging macro-economic environment while continuing to invest to meet our customers´ needs,' PayPal President and CEO Dan Schulman said Tuesday in a statement.

He added: 'While we have made substantial progress in right-sizing our cost structure, and focused our resources on our core strategic priorities, we have more work to do.'

Last summer activist investor Elliott Management bought a stake then worth about $2 billion in PayPal, which said it had entered into an 'information-sharing agreement' with Elliott 'to continue collaboration across a range of value-creation opportunities'.

PayPal Holdings Inc. is scheduled to report quarterly results on February 9.

Shares of the company are down about 53% in the past year. They rose 2.3% to close Tuesday at $81.49.

Republican senators are coming to the defense of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after former President Donald Trump's most recent comments targeting his potential 2024 rival.

Trump took aim at the Florida governor Saturday, saying it would be a "great act of disloyalty" if he decided to run in 2024 and claiming he mishandled the COVID-19 lockdown in his state.

"Ron would have not been governor if it wasn’t for me. So, when I hear he might run, I consider that very disloyal," Trump said on the campaign trial.

"There are Republican governors that did not close their states. Florida was closed for a long period of time," Trump told reporters. "They're trying to rewrite history."

"I don’t see it as an act of disloyalty to run for president, even people on the president’s cabinet may get in this race," Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., said of Trump's comments, The Hill reported.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, also asserted that it would not be disloyal of DeSantis to take on Trump in the GOP primary.

"He ran an impressive re-election campaign for governor from an important state. It looks to me like he’s polling well. I think we need some new blood and I think he’d probably qualify," he stated.

TRUMP ‘DOES HAVE CHALLENGES’ AS DESANTIS ADVISERS PREP FOR POSSIBLE 2024 RUN: KARL ROVE

Recently re-elected Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel downplayed the GOP infighting when asked about Trump's recent comments.

"This is gonna happen. There will be a little back and forth over the next year, we'll get over it," the chairwoman said during an appearance on FOX Business Network.

DeSantis responded to the comment Tuesday, saying the 2022 midterm election results speak for themselves. 

"I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles," the governor said. "The good thing about it is when you're an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions. You got to steer that ship."

"And the good thing is that the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they re-elect you or not. And I'm happy to say, you know, in my case, not only did we win re-election, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida," DeSantis said.

Trump ramped up the attacks on DeSantis again on Wednesday, publicly blasting him on his Truth Social account.

"The real Ron is a RINO GLOBALIST, who closed quickly down Florida and even its beaches. Loved the Vaccines and wasted big money on ‘Testing.’ How quickly people forget!," Trump claimed in a recent post.

The former president also previously called DeSantis "Ron DeSanctimonious," but the governor remains unfazed by the comments. 

Although his recent comments suggest a brewing rivalry with DeSantis, Trump previously said that he did a great job as governor during the pandemic. "I have a lot of faith in Ron DeSantis to make the right decision, he's doing a great job as governor," Trump said on the podium of the White House press room when asked about DeSantis' handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump is currently the only declared contender in the 2024 presidential election, making his official announcement in November 2022. The Florida Governor has not yet entered into the race, but is considered a leading contender for the GOP nomination.

Trump, the only major Republican to date to launch a 2024 Republican presidential campaign, taking aim at DeSantis — who if he jumps into the White House race later this year would instantly become Trump’s most formidable rival — with a new accusation on social media.

"The real Ron is a RINO GLOBALIST, who closed quickly down Florida and even its beaches. Loved the Vaccines and wasted big money on ‘Testing.’ How quickly people forget!," Trump claimed in a post on his Truth Social site.

And the latest string of verbal punches from Trump directed at the Florida governor may be followed by attack ads from a well-financed super PAC that’s aligned with the former president.

A source in the Florida governor’s political orbit who requested anonymity to speak more freely, said Trump's attacks show that "it’s pretty clear that Gov. DeSantis is living rent-free in Donald Trump’s head at this point."

The newest attack from Trump follows a barrage of blistering comments the former president made on Saturday, during the first major campaign swing of his third White House run.

"If he runs, that’s fine. I’m way up in the polls. He’s going to have to do what he wants to do, but he may run," Trump said in an AP interview in South Carolina, a crucial early voting state that holds the third contest in the GOP presidential nominating calendar.

Trump once again pointed to his crucial support which helped then-Rep. DeSantis, an underdog at the time, capture the Republican gubernatorial primary in 2018 en-route to narrowly winning election as Florida governor.

"I do think it would be a great act of disloyalty because, you know, I got him in. He had no chance. His political life was over," Trump said on Saturday.

The governor saw his popularity soar among conservatives across the country the past three years, courtesy of his forceful pushback against coronavirus pandemic restrictions and his aggressive actions as a conservative culture warrior going after media and corporations.

DeSantis routinely dismissed talk of a 2024 White House race for more than a year as he focused on his gubernatorial re-election. But he’s dropped some hints the past three months of a possible presidential bid, starting with his re-election victory speech in November after he cruised to an historic 19-point win in Florida, a onetime battleground state.

The governor has already pushed legislation in the opening days of his second term that is popular with conservatives in Florida and nationwide. And, as Fox News first reported, he'll be releasing a memoir, "The Courage to Be Free: Florida's Blueprint for America's Revival," later this month. Writing a book is a rite of passage for many potential and actual presidential candidates.

While Trump remains the most popular and influential politician in the GOP and arguably the party’s top fundraiser when it comes to energizing the grassroots, the first two and a half months of his latest White House bid have been anything but spectacular.

Political pundits from both the left and the right torched his campaign launch, and he’s been criticized by Democrats and some Republicans for controversial actions and comments he’s made during the past couple of months. In the wake of a lackluster performance by the GOP in the midterm elections — when the party underperformed in what many expected to be a red wave election — Trump has also been blamed for elevating polarizing Republican nominees who ended up losing in November.

While the former president remains the overall front-runner in the early 2024 GOP nomination polls, DeSantis has eclipsed him in some surveys, including a new poll last week in New Hampshire, which holds the first primary in the White House race.

Trump, who last autumn nicknamed the Florida governor "Ron DeSanctimonious," took aim at DeSantis over the COVID crisis while speaking with reporters aboard his campaign plane en-route to South Carolina.

Minnesota’s Democrat governor signs bill codifying abortion until birth==

'The absolutist extremism of this bill would put Minnesota in the company of just a handful of countries worldwide, among them China and North Korea.'

Minnesota Democrat Gov. Tim Walz signed a “right” to unlimited abortion into law Tuesday, putting the North Star State on par with the likes of North Korea according to pro-life leaders.

The so-called Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act asserts a woman’s “fundamental right” to “continue the pregnancy and give birth, or obtain an abortion, and to make autonomous decisions about how to exercise this fundamental right,” declares that this “right” is contained in the Minnesota Constitution’s “principles of individual liberty, personal privacy, and equality;” and forbids localities from “regulat[ing] an individual’s ability to freely exercise the fundamental rights set forth in this section in a manner that is more restrictive than that set forth in this section.”

The bill cleared both chambers of the state legislature without proposed Republican amendments to preserve some limits on abortion, and on Tuesday it received Walz’s signature at a ceremony joined by Planned Parenthood North Central States president Sarah Stoesz, Valley News Live reports.

“The message that we’re sending to Minnesota today is very clear, your rights are protected in this state, you have the right to make your own decisions about your health, your family and your life,” Walz told the crowd.

Pro-life activists see a very different message in the new law.

“Let’s be clear: The PRO Act would mean it’s legal for any baby to be aborted, for any reason and at any time up to birth,” said Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life co-executive director Cathy Blaeser. “The absolutist extremism of this bill would put Minnesota in the company of just a handful of countries worldwide, among them China and North Korea. Mothers and babies deserve a far more humane and compassionate approach.”

Under the law, “a school counselor can take a student to an abortion clinic without their parents’ knowledge,” warns Tim Miller, executive director of Pro-Life Action Ministries Action. “An unborn child can be murdered up to one second before they leave their mother’s birth canal. There will be no requirement for an abortion to take place in a clinic setting and a doctor is no longer needed.”

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last summer sent pro-abortion activists into a flurry of activity to preserve abortion “access.” In blue states, Democrats have moved to strengthen the pro-abortion status quo, keeping abortion as widely available as possible while potentially attracting travel from abortion seekers in neighboring pro-life states.

I know from experience the problem that people with legitimate needs for chronic pain relief have had in getting meds prescribed - even when the doctors were well aware there was no abuse. It's due to social pressure. Bongino talked about this once, how most people who get pain meds do not abuse them, well over 90%. Doesn't just affect those with low income, it affects everybody.

Awell-known former investigative journalist for ABC News has been arrested on a charge of “transporting” images depicting the sexual abuse of children, the Department of Justice said on Wednesday.

James Gordon Meek, 53, of Arlington, Virginia, was arrested Tuesday, months after his home was searched by federal authorities.

Authorities found images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct on electronic devices taken from his home. Authorities also discovered multiple conversations in which “participants expressed enthusiasm for the sexual abuse of children," according to court papers.

He faces a charge of transportation of child pornography, which calls for a minimum of five years behind bars and up to 20 years in prison, officials said. An email seeking comment was sent to Meek's attorney.

ABC News declined to comment Wednesday. Meek resigned from ABC News last year.

The FBI's investigation was prompted by a tip from Dropbox about child pornography found in a Dropbox account that was associated with Meek, according to court papers. Federal authorities searched his home in April and took multiple devices.

Authorities say investigators also found that Meek engaged with minors on platforms like Snapchat. A minor interviewed by law enforcement told authorities that Meek approached her through Snapchat and pressured her to provide sexually explicit photos, according to court papers.

Ron DeSantis has not yet announced he will run for president in 2024, but at least one person is extremely panicked at the prospect that he will, and that person is obviously Donald Trump. We know Trump is freaking out about the possibility of having to beat out DeSantis for the Republican nomination based on his remarks about the Florida governor over the last several months, which have included but have not been limited to: claiming DeSantis would have never been elected without his endorsement; saying he “sent in the FBI” to ensure DeSantis beat Democrat Andrew Gillum; busting out the nickname Ron “DeSanctimonious,” telling reporters “If [Ron] did run, I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering”; and suggesting he’ll treat the governor to the ole Ted Cruz special, i.e., insulting his wife and implying one of his relatives was involved in the murder of an American icon. By contrast, he’s apparently told Nikki Haley she should totally jump into the race.

For the most part, DeSantis has not responded to Trump’s comments, preferring instead to busy himself with banning an AP African American studies course and waging a war on transgender people. But on Tuesday, he decided to take a moment to hit back. Asked about Trump’s most recent criticism, the governor told reporters: “I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles, it’s been happening for many, many years. The good thing is, is that the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they reelect you or not. And I’m happy to say—you know, in my case—not only did we win reelection, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has [had] in the history of the state of Florida…That verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida.”

While Trump would undoubtedly bristle at any criticism whatsoever from DeSantis, whom he apparently believes owes him his political career, we’re assuming the pointed reference to the fact that the ex-president lost the 2020 election—something he continues to refuse to admit—will not go over well. (In his only public remarks re: Trump since the midterms, DeSantis said, of the ex-president‘s attacks: “One of the things I’ve learned in this job is when you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, you take incoming fire. That’s just the nature of it. We’ve focused on results and leadership, and at the end of the day, I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night.”)

Hours after DeSantis spoke to reporters Tuesday, Trump took to Truth Social to post an old clip of the governor saying he aspired to be like Paul Ryan, the former House Speaker the ex-president dubbed a “weak RINO” and “pathetic loser” last year.

A former ABC journalist who went missing after the FBI raided his home and seized his laptop has been arrested for transporting child pornography.

As reported last year, Emmy-winning investigative journalist James Meek went missing after the FBI raided his Virginia home and seized classified information from his laptop in April 2022.

James Gordon Meek, 52, went missing after the feds raided his Arlington penthouse apartment, the Rolling Stone reported.

Meek produced the Hulu documentary “3212 Unredacted” which detailed the 2017 Pentagon coverup of the deaths of US special forces in Niger.

The “lightning raid” was conducted after a search warrant was approved by a federal magistrate judge in the Virginia Eastern District Court, Rolling Stone reported.

“If agents got hold of Meek’s records, the move would have had to have been approved by US Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.” The New York Post reported.

Meek’s attorneys lashed out at the US government for leaking information to Rolling Stone.

“The allegations in your inquiry are troubling for a different reason: They appear to come from a source inside the government,” Meek’s attorney Eugene Gorokhov told Rolling Stone. “It is highly inappropriate, and illegal, for individuals in the government to leak information about an ongoing investigation.”

“We hope that the DOJ promptly investigates the source of this leak.”

Meek’s last public statement was in the form of a tweet on April 27, 2022 – His colleagues at ABC said Meek “fell off the face of the earth.”

CBDC stands for Central Bank Digital Currency, and these are digital versions of a country’s currency. We’ve talked a lot here on the Organic Prepper about digital currencies and the dangers of a cashless society, and if the WEF has its way, we could be looking at just that – and soon. The governments of the world are hard at work creating tunnels and secret routes that all lead to one place – a one-world monetary system. This is all part of the Great Reset they’ve been touting.

The Central Bank has a plan to implement digital currency in the near future.

As always, it will be positioned as something beneficial to get the less critical thinkers on board first. Then, at some point, it could become the only legal tender that exists, and this will give the powers that be the ability to completely control every financial decision you make.

For the record, governments already have the ability to freeze personal bank accounts. This was tested in Canada last year during the Freedom Convoy when truckers protested Covid regulations. The bank accounts of donors to the cause were frozen without recourse. This actually happened to a friend of mine back in Canada, all because she made a $20 donation to the Go-Fund-Me, which was, incidentally, withheld from its intended recipients.

Anyway, a digital currency could mean such controls as automatic taxation or where and when you’re allowed to make purchases – all at the push of a button. The most likely way this will be rolled out is to “fight inflation” and “fix the economy.” As per the IMF:

A world with lower inflation (and even zero inflation) and no persistent recessions may sound like a pipe dream, but we argue that it is possible by transitioning to an “electronic money standard.” Such a transition requires eliminating the zero lower bound, which central banks can achieve using readily available tools. Breaking the zero lower bound implies that the optimal rate of inflation will be lower than in the presence of the lower bound. This will empower central banks to quickly restore full employment and, over the medium term, possibly move toward targeting full price stability with zero inflation.

Obviously, any kind of manipulation like this is false, and while there may be some temporary relief, it won’t solve the underlying problems with our economy.

David H. Sharrett II was born in Woodstock, Virginia in June 1980, to David Sharrett Sr., a local schoolteacher, and Kimberly Drummond. David Sharrett II's parents divorced early in his life, and he grew up around Oakton, Virginia, where he attended Oakton Elementary School, then Cooper Intermediate School, and Oakton High School. In high school, he played defensive end on the school's football team before graduating high school in 1999.

After graduation, Sharrett considered college but instead opted to work several odd jobs, telling his family he was not ready to continue his education. He worked as a bartender and a doorman in several local restaurants and bars until around 2005. During this time, he met Heather Shell, whom he would later marry. He also attended some classes at Northern Virginia Community College, where he studied history and literature.

Sharrett had considered joining the US military several times, twice beginning the process and backing out. However, Sharrett eventually enlisted in September 2006, hoping to serve a three-year Army tour and then return home to complete a degree and become a history teacher. He married Shell in January 2007, after returning from basic combat training, and the couple moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky where Sharrett was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.[6] His awards included the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and an Expert Marksman Badge with the M4 Carbine. He had volunteered for air assault school and airborne school as well.

Sharret's unit was deployed to northern Iraq in September 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Initially, the unit was based near the border with Iran to interdict weapons smuggling across the border. Later it was based at Forward Operating Base Paliwoda near Balad. Sharrett and his father stayed in constant contact throughout the deployment. In the days leading up to his death, Sharrett had indicated displeasure with the post, reportedly telling his father during a conversation, "We're doing too much stupid stuff. I want out of the infantry."

Incident

On 16 January 2008, Sharrett was part of an 8-man patrol participating in Operation Hood Harvest near the village of Bichigan, north of Baghdad. The allied coalition had discovered that the insurgent group al-Qaeda in Iraq was using the region to equip suicide bombers. Sharrett's seven-man squad, led by Staff Sergeant Chris McGraw, was joined by First Lieutenant Timothy Hanson, the company executive officer, who was to direct communications with the squad's air support. Designated "Team 6," this team was to patrol in two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters for any insurgents active past the local curfew.

Shortly before 05:00 local time, overhead observers spotted six men running single file through a palm grove outside of town. The six men, apparently unarmed, sprinted across a field before taking cover in an oval-shaped thicket of branches and vines, as observed by nearby helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. At 05:07, Team 6 disembarked from its helicopters, equipped with night vision devices, as there was no ambient light and conditions were reportedly pitch black. They were also equipped with infrared flashing lights visible only though night vision, which serve as IFF tags. However, neither McGraw nor Hanson ordered the team to turn the IFF tags on, and five of the eight did not do so. In the meantime, the six insurgents apparently armed themselves with AK-47s and grenades which had been concealed in a hidden cache in the thicket, lying down and keeping still. At 05:15, Team 6 approached the brush and surrounded it, with four men on each side, and called into the brush for the insurgents to come out.[6]

One minute later, an insurgent shouted "Allahu Akbar!" from inside the brush before the concealed insurgents opened fire on the surrounding Team 6. Both McGraw and Specialist Raphael Collins, positioned next to Sharrett, were immediately wounded in the shoulder. On the west side of the brush, corporal John Sigsbee was shot and mortally wounded, while private first class Danny Kimme was shot in the head and killed as he attempted to get into a prone position. At this time, Hanson radioed the helicopter that they were under attack as Sharrett sprinted to the west side of the thicket and took up a position next to Sigsbee, remaining quiet and still approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) from the brush as the insurgents continued to fire their weapons out of it. At 05:20, Sharrett stood up and ran toward Hanson's position and away from the brush, firing over his shoulder and apparently striking an insurgent. At this point, he and Hanson were concealed from the view of overhead helicopters by trees, but when they reemerged 5 seconds later Sharrett was seen writhing on the ground and Hanson running away from the position.[6]

At 06:03, another US force of snipers and infantry called Team 4 arrived, encountering the remains of Team 6. Hanson stated he did not know where Sharrett, Sigsbee, or Kimme were. Team 4 then lined up for a methodical assault on the brush, discovering Sigsbee and Kimme's bodies in the process. One minute later, a UH-60 landed north of the thicket, and the wounded McGraw and Collins climbed onboard along with the unwounded Hanson. The helicopter then flew to a combat support hospital in Balad, where McGraw and Collins disembarked. Hanson refused to disembark, and instead rode in the helicopter back to FOB Paliwoda where he returned to his quarters without briefing commanders.[6]

In the meantime, Team 4 called in close air support and overhead Black Hawk helicopters attacked the brush with machine guns until at 06:10 it was discovered that the six insurgents were dead. The team then began searching for Sharrett but was unable to find him. At 06:35, the team shot a flare airborne and discovered Sharrett in a brush, with a faint pulse. The team members attempted CPR and eventually called in a Medevac. Sharrett was evacuated to FOB Paliwoda at 06:50 and pronounced dead at 07:50.

Sharrett was the 3,595th servicemember of the United States to be killed in the Iraq War.[8] Sharrett was buried in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.[10] On 23 April 2008, the United States House of Representatives passed a resolution naming the post office in Oakton the "Private First Class David H. Sharrett II Post Office Building." Congressman Tom Davis of Virginia introduced the measure.[11] In an unusual move, US President Barack Obama visited Sharrett's grave site on Veterans Day 2009 during a tour of the cemetery, meeting Sharrett family friend and investigative journalist James Gordon Meek on this visit.[10]

Initial reports

On 19 January 2008, the survivors in Team 6 were ordered to write reports detailing the incident. In his statement, Hanson said he hit the ground as the shooting started and fired six to 10 shots at the thicket, and then stated he saw Sharrett and Sigsbee "lying face down no more than 10 feet from the enemy position." Hanson stated he heard one of the soldiers state they were hit, but was unable to reach them because of insurgent fire, and so he broke contact and moved away. Hanson did not mention firing his weapon after the initial attack, and provided detailed accounts of the locations of the squad, contradicting statements the Team 4 troops made indicating Hanson had been unable to provide their location. In a second report on 25 January, Hanson gave more detail on the incident but did not mention shooting anyone. In subsequent reports, Hanson repeatedly denied shooting or identifying anyone.[6]

In the meantime, the US military reported on 18 January that Sharrett, Sigsbee, and Kimme were killed in a grenade attack, withholding specifics of the incident.
