On January 1, the world celebrated New Year’s Day—a holiday of self-reflection, self-renewal, and hope. In Ukraine, the focus was different. There, January 1 marks the birthday of Stepan Bandera, Ukraine’s Nazi national hero.

Bandera is the founding father of Ukrainian Nazism and his birthday is a national holiday. In Ukraine, paying homage to their most famous antisemite and leading Nazi collaborator of World War II, is a very big deal.

Calling All Nazis

Under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the level of Nazi influence and control in Ukraine has been unprecedented. Zelenskyy outlawed all 11 independent and opposition political parties but left the parties and organizations of his Nazi partners and allies intact and in power. So, it’s not surprising that on Bandera’s birthday, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament (with nobody but Nazis left in it)—erupted into wild cheers. Later, General Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s military commander in chief, posted a photo of himself proudly posing in front of Bandera’s portrait.

The message from Ukraine’s top lawmakers and general was clear. Have no doubt as to who and what our government and army are fighting for in NATO’s proxy war with Russia.

The commemoration of Ukraine’s top Nazi didn’t go over well in Poland. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki angrily denounced Ukraine’s “continued glorification of (the) Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera . . .”

So, why the outrage?

To understand the reason for Polish fury over Ukraine’s Bandera worship, we must briefly review what happened in Ukraine during World War II—and separate facts from propaganda.

“Unimaginable Bestiality”

Bandera was the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN)—Ukrainian Nazi collaborators who dreamt of a racially pure Ukraine, free of Jews, ethnic Russians, and Poles. During World War II, primarily in the Wolyn region of the Ukrainian countryside, the OUN massacred at least 100,000 Poles.

To make it appear that the homicidal rampage was a spontaneous peasant uprising (and out of sadistic pleasure), the OUN’s preferred modus operandi was to kill with axes, hatchets, scythes, knives, hammers, steel bars, and pitchforks. Banderites shoved victims by the hundreds into buildings and barns and burned them alive—a method still preferred by Ukrainian Nazis today.

Banderite mobs roamed like rabid dogs. Poland’s The First News recounts the barbarism:

In the blood frenzy, the Ukrainians tortured their victims with unimaginable bestiality. Victims were scalped. They had their noses, lips and ears cut off. They had their eyes gouged out and hands cut off and they had their heads squashed in clamps. Women had their breasts cut off and pregnant women were stabbed in the belly. Men had their genitals sliced off with sickles.

The 2016 Polish film, “Hatred,” (also titled “Wolyn” or “Volhynia”) is an historically accurate account of the Banderites’ crimes. The movie is shockingly graphic—many scenes are almost impossible to watch. Because of the truth it tells, Ukrainian authorities have banned its showing.

Bandera and the Holocaust in Ukraine

One in every four Jewish victims of the Holocaust—1.5 million people—was murdered in Ukraine. The Germans didn’t build gas chambers to murder Jews in Ukraine—they didn’t need them. The extent of Ukrainian collaboration with the Nazis was colossal. More than 250,000 Ukrainians volunteered for Waffen SS and other German military formations. Thousands more served as willing executioners both as auxiliary police in Ukraine and as death camp guards in Poland.

This was the “Holocaust of Bullets.” One and a half million Jews were rounded up and shot to death in fields, forests, and ravines. Banderites played a major role. OUN forces operated overtly on their own, integrated into police units, and served as highly motivated auxiliaries in the Einsatzgruppen, the German mobile extermination units.

The Germans invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, capturing the Ukrainian city of Lvov within a week. OUN Banderites distributed flyers instructing the Ukrainian population, “Don’t throw away your weapons yet. Take them up. Destroy the enemy. . . . Moscow, the Hungarians, the Jews—these are your enemies. Destroy them.” OUN also distributed flyers to Lvov’s Jews declaring, “We will lay your heads at Hitler’s feet”—which is exactly what they did. In the subsequent Banderite-initiated pogrom, 7,000 Jews were murdered in two days. Thousands more followed.

The massacre of Jews in Lvov was duly recorded by the Nazi collaborators themselves. The photos are shocking. But today in Lvov, a $47 million monument stands to honor Bandera and one of the city’s major streets has been named after him.

Zelenskyy Is A Willing Accomplice

For more than 70 years, Ukrainian Nazis and their apologists both within and without the country have conducted a disinformation campaign to whitewash Bandera and rewrite history. Their primary objective has been to fabricate Bandera the Nazi into a “freedom fighter.” This effort has increased with Ukraine’s accelerated Nazification under Zelenskyy. Across Ukraine, more than 50 monuments and statues have been built in Bandera’s honor and 500 streets named after him.

Ukraine’s Jewish president is a willing accomplice in the Bandera deceit. Zelenskyy has completely ignored Bandera’s antisemitic Nazi legacy and complicity in the murder of more than 1.6 million Ukrainian Jews, Poles, and Russians. He has stated that if Ukrainians revere this Nazi murderer as a national hero then, “That’s normal. That’s cool.” That’s cool because in Zelenskyy’s book Bandera was “one of those people who defended freedom for Ukraine.”

Zelenskky’s idea of freedom is different from that of most Americans. In addition to extinguishing freedom of the press, outlawing all non-Nazi political parties, and banning the Russian Orthodox Church, Zelenskyy has overseen and directed Nazi infestation into every level of the Ukrainian government and military. Zelenskyy’s significant promotions of Nazis include awarding the “Hero of Ukraine” medal to a Right Sector commander, appointing Right Sector co-founder Dmytro Yarosh, as advisor to the commander in chief of the Armed Forces, and replacing the head of the Odessa Regional Administration with a commander of the Nazi Aidar Battalion.

Can Jews support Nazis in Ukraine?

When questions about Ukraine’s Nazi regime started to surface, the media rushed in to silence them and prevent discussion. The stock response from media across the political spectrum was to repeatedly state Zelenskyy’s Jewish ancestry—as if that made the very question of Ukrainian Naziism absurd. The implied “logic” of this dodge was—“Zelenskyy is Jewish. It is impossible for a Jew to support Nazis. Therefore, there are no Nazis in Ukraine.” Zelensky was bulletproof—no talk about Nazis could touch him. In fact, since he was president, Nazis in Ukraine couldn’t even exist.

But as I have previously documented, not only is his a thoroughly Nazi regime but Zelenskyy has done more to support and institutionalize Nazis in Ukraine than any president before him.

His Jewish critics provide other insights. Zelenskyy does not identify as a Jew. He only mentions his Jewish heritage when politically profitable to do so—as when concealing the truth about his Nazi regime.

Zelenskyy doesn’t practice Judaism, married a Christian woman, had his children baptized in the Orthodox Church, and observes Christian holidays. In fact, during his campaign for president, he and his press spokesman refused to even confirm if he was Jewish.

Zelenskyy mocks Jewish culture. Hava Nagila, “Let us rejoice,” is a revered Hebrew folk song performed at Jewish celebrations worldwide. Zelenskyy’s idea of honoring this piece of Jewish cultural heritage was to perform Hava Nagila with his penis as an on-stage comedy act.

Finally, during his world tour to demand billions more in money and weapons, Zelenskyy outraged members of the Israeli Knesset with a shameful Ukrainian Holocaust denial speech. Refusing to acknowledge Ukraine’s history of Banderite-Nazi collaboration, Zelenskyy absurdly claimed that the Ukrainians’ significant war effort against the Germans was that “they rescued Jews.” Jewish critics blasted him for his “distortions of the Holocaust.”

His presentation to the Greek parliament was also disgraceful. It included a speech by an Azov Nazi Zelenskyy had brought to appear alongside him. Some lawmakers walked out in disgust, describing Zelenskyy’s performance a “Nazi fiesta.”

But Zelenskyy wasn’t the first rich and powerful Ukrainian Jew to support the Nazis. Ihor Kolomoyskyi is the Jewish Ukrainian billionaire oligarch and original financial sponsor of the Azov and Aidar Battalions. He also bankrolls other Nazi militias. Kolomoyskyi was Zelenskyy’s principal financial backer for president. And as owner of Burisma Holdings, he was Hunter Biden’s boss.

So can Jews support Nazis in Ukraine? Clearly, they can and do.

The Western Media’s Nazi Whitewash

Ukraine is the world’s first openly Nazi state since 1945. But for the past year, the Western media has launched a propaganda blitz to whitewash Ukrainian Nazis—as if they never existed. There are two reasons for this attempt to erase and rewrite history.

The first is the warmongers’ need to control information and manipulate public opinion.

Americans hate Nazis. We fought a world war to defeat German, Italian, and Japanese national socialism and militarism, and 420,000 Americans died to help win it. The ruling elites of the military-industrial-congressional complex know that if the American people got wise to the truth about Zelenskyy and his Nazi regime, Ukraine wouldn’t get another dime.

The second reason is Vladimir Putin.

Putin declared that one of the primary objectives of Russia’s Special Military Operation was to “de-Nazify” Ukraine. This is a big problem for Joe Biden, NATO, and the warmongers in Congress.

For 20 years, the military-industrial-congressional complex and their media have painted a picture of Vladimir Putin that is evil incarnate. It wouldn’t play well for the warmongers if after all this demonization, Americans found out that Putin had been telling the truth about Nazis in Ukraine all along.

Before receiving their orders to erase history, the Western media had been telling the truth about Nazis in Ukraine. Here’s a short list of their reporting before the whitewash.

Globalist Elites Are All In

The Western globalist elites are all in with their exuberant support of the Washington-led proxy war. During the recent meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, there was no talk of peace in Ukraine, but only of escalation and carrying on a “forever war.”

Big Tech is also taking the disinformation of the Nazi whitewash to the next level. Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta announced that Facebook has removed the designation of “dangerous organization” from the Nazi Azov Battalion. The white supremacists now have full access to the platform.

In a nation saturated with Nazi militias, organizations, and political parties—the Azov Battalion remains Ukraine’s most notorious. Azov ideology is pure Nazism, and its emblem and symbols are straight from Hitler’s SS.

The Azov Battalion’s street-fighting wing has been absorbed into the national police. Because of Azov’s high Nazi profile, the Western media disinformation campaign to rehabilitate their image has been intense. Easier said than done.

Even NATO’s Atlantic Council concludes that Azov’s connections with other white supremacist organizations remain intact. Azov is an international hub for white supremacists with a global recruiting network. White nationalists go to Ukraine to gain combat experience and return to their home countries with lethal tactical skills.

The Azov Battalion is proud to display its Nazi pathology. In May, Russian forces captured the city of Mariupol and took 2,500 Ukrainian soldiers prisoner—most of them Azov Nazis. Video of the prisoners being searched reveals their extensive Nazi tattoos. Seeing is believing.

Congress Knows The Truth About The Azov Nazis

The national socialist roots of the Azov Battalion have never been a secret in Congress.

In 2015, Representative John Conyers (D-Mich.) introduced an amendment to stop the United States from providing further military aid and training to the Azov Nazis in Ukraine. The amendment passed but was rescinded under pressure from Obama’s Pentagon.

In 2018, Congress passed a spending bill preventing the United States from providing arms and training assistance to the “neo-Nazi Azov Battalion fighting in Ukraine.”

In 2019, 40 House Democrats signed a letter asking the State Department why they had not placed Ukraine’s Azov Battalion on the U.S. list of “foreign terrorist organizations” (FTOs). Signers included Representatives Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.). The Democrats drew the connection between Azov Nazis in Ukraine and white supremacist terrorist incidents around the world including Christchurch, New Zealand and El Paso, Texas.

But that was then.

Today, every Democrat and corporate Republican belongs to the uniparty—warmongers committed to implementing the interests of the military-industrial-congressional complex through permanent war. This is why Congress voted to send $100 billion to support the Nazi regime in Ukraine and support the Azov Battalion—a group they know is a white supremacist, terrorist, Nazi organization. The uniparty warmongers are whitewashing these Nazis in order to justify their treachery and fool the public.

Last Fall, a delegation of uniformed Azov Nazis was welcomed as heroes into our Capitol building to meet with 50 representatives and senators. Special hosts included Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), then-chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

The Nazi parade continued across the United States with stops including New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago, and Stanford University. Azov stormtroopers met with audiences including many children, spread their disinformation, and raised money. Auctioning off their Nazi uniform patches and battle flags, they welcomed Americans to the Nazi club—“Now, all of you are Azov.”

Dave Rubin was invited to Twitter headquarters to get the inside scoop on why many users are still experiencing engagement issues and reported “shadowbans.”

The journalist shed some very interesting insights into the ongoing problems in a Twitter thread, which will be shared in a more easily read format below.

Spent last two days at Twitter in SF talking to engineers, product managers and yes, @elonmusk. Learned a ton about what’s going on. Before I share, want to note that after couple hour meeting I asked Elon what I could share and he said, “anything that’s true.”

“A Fractal Rube Goldberg Machine.”

That’s what @elonmusk called Twitter. As they fix the code more problems arise. A delicate balance he likened to a Jenga tower. One wrong move the whole thing collapses. They’re working nonstop, and both times I met him were after midnight.

I met with several engineers who were doing a deep dive on why my account and so many others seem to be absolutely crushed after that two or three week return to normalcy when Elon first took over. They still have more questions than answers, but they did learn a bunch of stuff.

Accounts aren’t just hit with labels that are obvious to insiders. They now found more “secret” labels which are causing shadowbans. My account was hit with all three; “Recent abuse strike,” “Recent misinformation strike”, “Recent suspension strike.”

It’s unclear so far what these strikes actually do, but for sure they suppress views and recommendations, they are trying to figure out to what extent. I also had many innocuous tweets labeled NSFW or NSFA (not safe for ads) which affect visibility in the timeline. Also, there’s an entire KeyWord database so that machine learning makes sure not to promote violence, porn etc., but it’s a mess of overreaching words. Literally the word “gay” was on the KeyWord list which would make you not advertiser friendly and harm the tweet in the algo.

Backing up for a sec, they found the “recent suspension strike” on my account most interesting because it was fro July 2022, when I was suspended for calling out @jordanbpeterson’s unjust suspension. So though suspension was reversed the action on the account remained.

Elon was bringing people in and out constantly and seems to be aware of pretty much every issue. He thinks maybe the entire code has to be torn down and start from scratch. At the end last night he said that the whole situation is “a flaming dumpster rolling down the street.”

So I assure you they are aware of the problems and Elon and engineers are there all night trying to untie this crazy knot. Some changes they’ve made, like the “For You” tab, have confused people and hurt engagement for accounts who have gotten the NSFA label without knowing. They also don’t know for sure why things got so much better once Elon made the acquisition and why it seems far worse now. Some is probably related to excitement around Elon himself, which also coincided with World Cup, but that doesn’t explain why it feels so off right now. Will share more in bit but have to catch a flight.

On a personal note Elon is funny as hell, laughs a ton and it’s just really obvious he cares about Twitter because he cares about free speech and the bigger problems facing the world. He doesn’t need this headache, he chose it.

Also huge shout out to @DavidSacks who is helping Elon clean up this mess because he believes in the fight for free speech as much as Elon does. And massive thanks to the engineers who iopened up their computers, showed me literally everything I asked for, and were total pros.

Oh, one either thing for now…

Elon really lit up when we talked about the shifting political landscape and how anyone non-woke is now “far right.”

That notion is deeply connected to how screwy thing got at Twitter and he’s working to fix it despite the huge challenges ahead.

And frankly they gotta get that company out of SF…

What’s also really crazy now having seen under the hood is that Jack Dorsey repeatedly said they don’t shadowban. The entire machine behind Twitter is designed to shadowban. It’s almost as if that was the primary goal rather than the product itself.

Engineer I’ve been working with contacted me on this specifically and said there is a technical reason this happens related to two data centers not syncing. They’re working on it.

The Twitter thread at least provides reassurances that the engineers are looking into the ongoing “shadowban” issues and appear to be looking to fix them.

A National Disgrace

Is there a more dishonorable cause than America supporting Nazis? The whitewash and support of Ukrainian Nazis by American media and lawmakers is a national disgrace.

Joe Biden, the military-industrial-congressional complex, State Department neocons, and Western globalist elites have put the United States and NATO at war with Russia. Ukraine is merely their disposable proxy.

The warmongers have no interest in the wellbeing of Ukraine.

Their real objective appears to be overthrowing Putin and breaking up Russia—and they are willing to see millions of Ukrainians die in order to achieve it.

Ukraine is the perfect proxy to fight and die against Russia. Its political parties and military are already driven by a racist, Nazi ideology that hates Russians. And in Zelenskyy they have the perfect puppet—a corrupt shill for the globalist elites willing to sell out his people and needlessly prolong the war—even if his country is completely destroyed.

The warmongers have no interest in the well-being of the United States either.

They have funneled $100 billion to conduct a war that is not in our national interest. The war they should be fighting is here at home. Our country has been invaded by millions of illegal aliens, our cities are being destroyed by out-of-control crime, and 100,000 Americans are killed yearly by fentanyl shipped in by Mexican cartels.

The war in Ukraine could end today with a single phone call.

Zelenskyy is a puppet, and Washington pulls the strings. The war would end the minute that Biden picks up the phone, tells Zelenskyy the game is over, and that it’s time for peace.

It’s time that Republicans in Congress demand that Biden pick up the phone.

The comedian told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the fire, which left him with serious burns on his upper body and part of his face, was only the first accident.

“That was the first accident. OK? Then just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle,” Leno told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Thursday. “So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”

The Review-Journal said the motorcycle mishap occurred on Jan. 17 while Leno was testing out a bike from the 1940s. He said he was pulled off the bike by a wire strung across the parking lot.

“So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline me and, boom, knocked me off the bike,” Leno told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.”

Leno said he didn’t publicize the accident due to the coverage of the fire last November.

“You know, after getting burned up, you get that one for free,” Leno told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing airplanes. You just want to keep your head down (laughs).”

President Trump transmitted a message to congress, warning them not to cut Social Security and Medicare {Direct Rumble Link}. Many politicians and pundits will look at Trump’s position from the perspective of it being good to campaign for older voters, but that’s not the core of his reasoning.

In 2016 CTH was the first place to evaluate the totality of President Trump’s economic policies; specifically, as those policies related to the entitlement programs around Social Security and Medicare. We outlined the approach Trump was putting forth and the way he was approaching the issue. In the years that followed, he was right. He was creating a U.S. economy that could sustain all of the elements the traditional political class were calling “unsustainable.”

Before getting to the details, here’s his video message and policy as delivered yesterday. WATCH:

Fortunately, we do not have to guess if President Trump is correct. We have his actual economic policy results to look at and see how the expansion of the economy was creating the type of growth that would sustain Social Security and Medicare. This was/is MAGAnomics at work.

♦ On Social Security – Unlike many other 2016 Republican candidates, Donald Trump did NOT call for rapid or wholesale changes to the current Social Security program; and there’s a very good reason why he was the only candidate who did not propose wholesale changes.

With the single caveat of “high income retirees” (over $250k annually), which previously Trump said he was open to negotiating on, President Trump does not consider these programs as “entitlements”. The American people pay into them, and the federal government has an obligation to fulfill the promises made upon collection.

To fully understand how Donald Trump views the solvency of Social Security, you must again understand his economic model and how it outlines growth.

The issue with Social Security, as viewed by Trump, is more of an issue with receipts and expenditures. If the aggregate U.S. economy is growing by a factor larger than the distribution needed to fulfill its entitlement obligations, then no wholesale change on expenditure is needed. The focus needs to be on continued and successful economic growth.

What you will find in all of Donald Trump’s positions, is a paradigm shift he necessarily understood must take place in order to accomplish the long-term goals for the U.S. citizen as it relates to “entitlements” or “structural benefits”.

All other candidates and politicians begin their policy proposals with a fundamentally divergent perception of the U.S. economy.

The customary political economy theory, carried by most politicians, positions them with an outlook of the U.S. economy based on “services”; a service-based economic model.

While this economic path has been created by decades old U.S. policy and is ultimately the only historical economic path now taught in school, President Trump initiated his economy policy with the intention to change the dynamic entirely, and that’s exactly what he did.

Because so many shifts -policy nudges- have taken place in the past several decades, few academics and even fewer MSM observers, were able to understand how to get off this path and chart a better course.

Donald Trump proposed less dependence on foreign companies for cheap goods, (the cornerstone of a service economy) and a return to a more balanced U.S. larger economic model where the manufacturing and production base can be re-established and competitive based on American entrepreneurship and innovation. This is the essence of MAGAnomics.

The key words in the prior statement are “dependence” and “balanced”. When a nation has an industrial manufacturing balance within the GDP there is far less dependence on the economic activity in global markets. In essence the U.S. can sustain itself, absorb global economic fluctuations and expand itself or contract itself depending on the free market…cont

When there is no balance, there is no longer a free market. The free market is sacrificed in favor of dependency, whether it’s foreign oil or foreign manufacturing, the dependency outcome is essentially the same. Without balance there is an inherent loss of economic independence, and a consequential increase in economic risk.

No other economy in the world innovates like the U.S.A. President Donald Trump saw/sees this as a key advantage across all industry – including manufacturing and technology.

The benefit of cheap overseas labor, which is considered a global market disadvantage for the U.S., is offset by utilizing innovation and energy independence. This was the core of the economic program that created so much immediate GDP growth in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The third highest variable cost of goods beyond raw materials first, labor second, is energy. If the U.S. energy sector was unleashed -and fully developed- the manufacturing price of any given product would allow for global trade competition even with higher U.S. wage prices. This is why President Trump traveled to Saudi Arabia as his first foreign trip, followed closely by a trip to Asia. He was putting the basics of his U.S. economic policy into place.

Additionally, the U.S. has a key strategic advantage with raw manufacturing materials such as: iron ore, coal, steel, precious metals and vast mineral assets which are needed in most new modern era manufacturing. President Trump proposed we stopped selling these valuable national assets to countries we compete against – they belong to the American people; they should be used for the benefit of American citizens. Period. This was the central point of the Steel and Aluminum tariffs.

EXAMPLE: Prior to President Trump, China was buying and recycling our heavy (steel) and light (aluminum) metal products (for pennies on the original manufacturing dollar) and then using those metals to reproduce manufactured goods for sale back to the U.S.

As President, Donald Trump stopped that practice immediately, triggering a policy expectation that we do the manufacturing ourselves with the utilization of our own resources. Then he leveraged any sales of these raw materials in our international trade agreements.

When you combine FULL resource development (in a modern era) with the removal of over-burdensome regulatory and compliance systems, necessarily filled with enormous bureaucratic costs, Donald Trump began lowering the cost of production and the U.S. became globally competitive. In essence, Trump changed the economic paradigm, and we no longer were a dependent nation relying on a service driven economic model.

The cornerstone to the success of this economic turnaround was the keen capability of the U.S. worker to innovate on their own platforms. Americans, more than any country in the world, just know how to get things accomplished. Independence and self-sufficiency are part of the DNA of the larger American workforce.

In addition, as we saw in 2018 and 2019, an unquantifiable benefit came from investment, where the smart money play -to get increased return on investment- became putting capital INTO the U.S. economy, instead of purchasing foreign stocks.

Disgraced former cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried has reportedly enlisted the services of a 75-pound dog who is trained to attack on command using a secret code word.

The family of the fallen FTX founder recently purchased Sandor, a German shepherd who is described by Forbes magazine as “welcoming, but trained to attack with the utterance of a secret word.”

Sandor is the last line of defense for Bankman-Fried, who is under house arrest at the $4 million Palo Alto, Calif. home of his parents, Stanford law professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried.

Bankman-Fried, 30, has pleaded not guilty to several charges listed in a federal indictment, including money laundering and wire fraud, related to the collapse of his cryptocurrency exchange, FTX.

He has denied allegations that he swindled investors and customers of FTX by diverting $1.8 billion invested in the platform to his hedge fund. If convicted, he faces up to 115 years behind bars.

Bankman-Fried appeared briefly in Manhattan federal court last month after his extradition from the Bahamas, where his company was based.

The German shepherd’s name is Sandor, which means “defender of man” in Greek.

With all of the above opportunities in mind, this is how President Trump put us on a pathway to rebuilding our national infrastructure.

When you elevate your America First economic thinking you begin to see that all of the “entitlements” or expenditures become more affordable with an economy that is fully functional.

As the GDP of the U.S. expands, so does our ability to meet the growing need of the retiring U.S. worker. We stop thinking about how to best divide a limited economic pie and begin thinking about how many more economic pies we can create. Simply put, we begin to….

It was the Fourth Quarter of 2019…..

Right before the pandemic would hit a few months later…. Despite two years of doomsayer predictions from Wall Street’s professional punditry, all of them saying Trump’s 2017 steel and aluminum tariffs on China, Canada and the EU would create massive inflation, it just wasn’t happening!

Overall year-over-year inflation was hovering around 1.7 percent [Table-A BLS]; yup, that was our inflation rate. The rate in the latter half of 2019 was firmed up with less month-over-month fluctuation, and the rate basically remained consistent. [See Below] The U.S. economy was on a smooth glide path, strong, stable and Main Street was growing with MAGAnomics at work.

A couple of important points. First, unleashing the energy sector to drive down overall costs to consumers and industry outputs was a key part of President Trump’s America-First MAGAnomic initiative. Lower energy prices help the worker economy, middle class and average American more than any other sector.

Which brings us to the second important point. Notice how food prices had very low year-over-year inflation, 0.5 percent. That is a combination of two key issues: low energy costs, and the fracturing of Big Ag hold on the farm production and the export dynamic:

For the previous twenty years food prices had been increasingly controlled by Big Ag, and not by normal supply and demand. The commodity market became a ‘controlled market’. U.S. food outputs (farm production) was controlled and exported to keep the U.S. consumer paying optimal prices.

President Trump’s trade reset was disrupting this process. As farm products were less exported the cost of the food in our supermarket became reconnected to a ‘more normal’ supply and demand cycle. Food prices dropped and our pantry costs were lowered.

The Commerce Dept. then announced that retail sales climbed by 0.4 percent in August 2019, twice as high as the 0.2 percent analysts had predicted. The result highlighted retail sales strength of more than 4 percent year-over-year. These excellent results came on the heels of blowout data in July, when households boosted purchases of cars and clothing.

The better-than-expected number stemmed largely from a 1.8 percent jump in spending vehicles. Online sales, meanwhile, also continued to climb, rising 1.6 percent. That’s similar to July 2019, when Amazon held its two-day, blowout Prime Day sale. (link)

Despite the efforts to remove and impeach President Trump, it did not look like middle-class America was overly concerned about the noise coming from the pundits. Likely that’s because blue-collar wages were higher, Main Street inflation was lower, and overall consumer confidence was strong. Yes, MAGAnomics was working.

Additionally, remember all those MSM hours and newspaper column inches where the professional financial pundits were claiming Trump’s tariffs were going to cause massive increases in prices of consumer goods?

Well, exactly the opposite happened [BLS report] Import prices were continuing to drop:

This was a really interesting dynamic that no-one in the professional punditry would dare explain.

Donald Trump’s tariffs were targeted to specific sectors of imported products. [Steel, Aluminum, and a host of smaller sectors etc.] However, when the EU and China respond by devaluing their currency, that approach hit all products imported, not just the tariff goods.

Because the EU and China were driving up the value of the dollar, everything we were importing became cheaper. Not just imports from Europe and China, but actually imports from everywhere. All imports were entering the U.S. at substantially lower prices.

This meant when we imported products, we were also importing deflation.

This price result is exactly the opposite of what the economic experts and Wall Street pundits predicted back in 2017 and 2018 when they were pushing the rapid price increase narrative.

Because all the export dependent economies were reacting with such urgency to retain their access to the U.S. market, aggregate import prices were actually lower than they were when the Trump tariffs began:

Import prices from China have not advanced on a monthly basis since ticking up 0.1 percent in May 2018. The price index for imports from China fell 1.6 percent for the year ended in August.

Ghislaine Maxwell Says She Believes Sex Trafficking Partner Jeffrey Epstein Was Murdered

In a rare interview from prison, former Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell shared a shocking — if widely speculated — claim: She believes Epstein was murdered.

Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking minors, recently sat down with UK broadcaster Talk TV to cast her doubts that Epstein died by suicide in his jail cell in 2019.

“No, he didn’t. I don’t believe he did,” Maxwell said in the interview. “I believe that he was murdered. Well shocked, I wondered: How did it happen? Because as far as I was concerned, he was going to, I was sure he was going to appeal.”

Law&Crime managing editor Adam Klasfeld said Maxwell is pursuing an appeal and has an interest undermining the system led to her convictions.

“One of the key focuses of her appeal will be to sow distrust about the system,” Klasfeld explained in an extended interview on Law&Crime’s Sidebar podcast. “If you listen to the full clip, she said that the victims should be upset with the prison officials who let that happen. She’s made it about the press. She’s made it about the failures of the prison system throughout.”

“Even though it’s a stunner of an interview, absolutely, it is very much in keeping with what we’ve heard from Maxwell for years,” he continues. “She complains about the legal system, the media, the Bureau of Prisons.”

Klasfeld also noted that Maxwell claimed to fear for her own safety in prison, making appeals for bonds that were “rejected multiple times.” In one of those attempts, court filings included a photograph of her with a black eye.

“We still don’t know where the alleged shiner came from,” he said.

The themes run even deeper, back to 1991 when her father, late media tycoon Robert Maxwell, was found dead after falling from his yacht. It was ruled an accident, but Maxwell maintained that he was killed.

The interview also came out shortly after U.K. tabloids reported that Prince Andrew might try to wriggle out of his reported multi-million dollar settlement with his sexual abuse accuser.

“I point to the crumbling of the case that Virginia Giuffre filed against Alan Dershowitz,” he explained, noting that Giuffre said she may have made a “mistake” in suing the retired Harvard professor. “It was seen by some folks as a blow to the credibility of not only one of the top Epstein accusers, but one of the top accusers against Ghislaine Maxwell. “She might figure that if she tries to raise some doubt about one of the most visible accusers in this saga, she could maybe enhance her position pending an appeal at a time when a lot of this is coming to a head.”

With Andrew potentially seizing upon that development, Maxwell also alleged in the interview that a photograph of Prince Andrew and Giuffre, which features Maxwell herself smiling in the background, was doctored.

But Maxwell said the opposite in 2015.

“She said it ‘looks real’ — and that’s a direct quote,” Klasfeld recalled. “Well, something happened between 2015 and the previous weekend about that photograph now. Either she got more skeptical recently or she thinks that there’s some good reason to cast doubt on the credibility of Virginia Giuffre, wants to help out her friend Prince Andrew and undermine the case against him right after a real setback for Virginia Giuffre.”

Maxwell also isn’t alone in her skepticism of how Epstein died. Epstein’s legal team and family forensic pathologist have backed the theory that he was murdered, and even Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown, who wrote a book following her extensive reporting on the case, titled a chapter, “Jeffrey Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself.”

Can we expect more insight from Maxwell? According to Klasfeld, probably.

“Being the media-savvy former socialite that she is, I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t the last.”

EU mission a threat to regional peace – Moscow

Russia's Foreign Ministry says Brussels’ monitors in Armenia are seeking a foothold for the West

The expansion of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia on the border with Azerbaijan, which was announced this week, adds no value to regional stability and may make things worse, the Russian Foreign Ministry has warned.

“The EU’s attempts to get a foothold in Armenia and sideline Russia’s mediation effortsmay damage the core interests of Armenians and Azerbaijanisas they pursue a return to peaceful development of the region,”a statement released by the ministry on Thursday said.

Moscow described the EU as “an appendage of the US and NATO” and assessed that its “confrontational policy” can only “bring geopolitical confrontation and aggravate existing disagreements”. The mission’s stated civilian nature should not “deceive” anyone, Russia said.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced the border patrol mission on Monday. Its goal is “sustainable peace in the region”, according to the top diplomat. The EU mission is scheduled to run for at least two years, and follows on from a program launched in October, involving some 40 observers.

“If officials in Brussels were really interested in peace in the Transcaucasian region, they would have consulted with Azerbaijan about the terms of the mission,” the Russian ministry stressed.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have a decades-old dispute over the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, a part of Azerbaijan with a predominantly ethnic-Armenian population, which claims to be an independent state. In 2020, the two nations fought a 44-day war, which ended with a Russian-brokered truce.

Last September, tensions flared up again on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with dozens of soldiers reported killed on both sides. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan requested military assistance from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a regional group that includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The organization opted for diplomatic resolution and sent an observer mission in the wake of the clashes.

Yerevan “chose the EU before the CSTO mission could achieve its logical conclusion,”the Russian Foreign Ministry remarked, suggesting that the observers could be deployed again, should the Armenian government request it.

Mercenary monopoly: Why the US is really so worried about Russia's Wagner 1 of 2

Having used private contractors like Blackwater for decades, Washington is now 'concerned' about the new household-name PMC

Interference in other countries' affairs via private contractors has long been a staple of US influence operations. Now, Washington is trying to accuse Russia of doing the same, and it's suddenly a bad thing.

First off the mark doesn’t always win the race. Does anyone remember when BlackBerry mobile devices were everywhere and barely anyone had heard of an iPhone, for example? Well, the US created the BlackBerry of private military/security contractors – Blackwater – after decades of outsourcing military and intelligence operations through various front companies. And now they’re so preoccupied with the new iPhone equivalent – Russia’s Wagner Group – that Washington is tracking its activities (including unconfirmed ops) in Ukraine, Syria, across Africa, and Serbia, according to cables obtained by POLITICO.

“The US government is concerned about the extent to which Wagner is interfering in sovereign countries’ internal politics, violating human rights, and robbing them of their mineral wealth,” according to a “senior administration official” cited in the report. Leaving aside Washington’s newfound concern for developing countries’ sovereignty over their mineral wealth when that’s often the main underlying reason why they’re typically targeted by the US for some freedom and democracy through firepower in the first place, it’s hard to ignore that the presence of the Wagner Group seems to be concentrated in locations already known for being targeted by clandestine US and allied activities.

Last year, for example, Mali chose the Wagner Group for a new partnership after kicking out French forces whose efforts to secure the country were so spectacular that there were two coups d’etat in as many years. Wagner Group’s possible presence in Serbia is now being widely discussed. The PMC has allegedly established itself in a “cultural center”in Belgrade, but these claims, initially sourced from a Telegram post, have been denied both by Wagner head Evgeny Prigozhin and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who also recently criticized Serbian-language Wagner recruitment ads that appeared on social media.

If these claims do turn out to be true down the line, it sounds like Serbia was looking for some hired help to prevent the country from becoming a flophouse for Western-backed regime-change chancers targeting Moscow and its top ally, Belgrade. And the presence of Western private military contractors in Ukraine has been well-established, with job offers reportedly popping up right from the outset of the conflict. “Wanted: multilingual former soldiers willing to covertly head into Ukraine for the handsome sum of up to $2,000 per day – plus bonus – to help rescue families from an increasingly grim conflict,” read one. Beyond this covert security role, one would have to be pretty naive to think that, under the cover of the fog of war, a little mission creep towards kinetic operations isn’t tempting.

It was the US government that created the blueprint for modern day defense contracting when a certain Erik Prince – a son of the car vanity mirror inventor, Edgar Prince, one of the Republican Party’s top donors at the time and a pal of former US defense secretary (and later vice president) Dick Cheney – created Blackwater, which went on to obtain lucrative no-bid security contracts for the US government in Iraq and Afghanistan during Washington’s global war on terrorism. The company started to resemble a retirement home for officials and executives from the CIA and the Pentagon, who conveniently slid over to Blackwater to enjoy a lucrative payday. Blackwater brought to light the kind of covert operations that had long been outsourced by Washington for reasons of plausible deniability. The firm itself “created a web of more than 30 shell companies or subsidiaries in part to obtain millions of dollars in American government contracts after the security company came under intense criticism for reckless conduct in Iraq,” according to the New York Times. The idea was to reel in unsuspecting Cubans through “non-controversial content,” only to ultimately usher the mob towards civil unrest.

At the height of the Cold War, the CIA fundedjournalist and feminist activist Gloria Steinem’s work under the “Independent Research Service,” a front group that organizedinternational youth festivals with the objective of influencing youth from around the world presenting a more attractive alternative to Soviet revolutionism.

Air America infamously provided a covert front for the CIA and Pentagon to provide critical support for US military and intelligence operations in theaters across the world, ranging from the war in Vietnam to the botched Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, before being disbanded in 1974.

These examples that have made it out into the public domain are just the tip of the iceberg.

The real problem with the Wagner Group for the US and its allies is that it competes with Western counterparts and could serve to protect the interests of clients that depart from the Western agenda. If the US government has a problem with that now, they might do well to remember that they were the ones who set that particular ball rolling in the first place.

The Israel Defense Forces and the United States Central Command on Thursday wrapped up their largest-ever joint exercise in Israel and the eastern Mediterranean Sea, the two militaries announced.

The drill, dubbed Juniper Oak 2023, involved some 6,400 US troops alongside more than 1,500 Israeli troops, and over 140 aircraft, 12 naval vessels, and artillery systems, making it the largest-ever joint drill between the nations.

The exercise was widely seen as a message to Iran, however, American officials said the live-fire drills did not include mockups of Iranian targets or of any other adversary. Israel’s Channel 12 news reported, without citing a source, that part of the drill included American bombers targeting a simulated Iranian nuclear facility.

IDF chief Herzi Halevi said “Israel and the US share the same values, and the IDF and CENTCOM share the same outlook on the threats facing this region,” adding that the drill “raised our level of planning and implementation of combined operations.”

“Israel is capable of defending itself, but it’s always good to have our greatest partner beside us to learn from one another. This operational partnership strengthens our ability to deal with a wide range of security challenges in the region,” Halevi said in remarks published by the IDF. “Today the partnership between CENTCOM and the IDF is stronger and continues to grow,” said General Michael Kurilla, the commander of CENTCOM. “Our partnership is a key pillar of our commitment to expanding regional security cooperation,” he added. CENTCOM and the IDF said the drill also involved High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, and Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, as well as infantry and special forces. Juniper Oak 2023 was the first in a series of planned drills with the US in the coming year, the IDF said.

Trump ‘not far away from truth’ on Ukraine – Kremlin

Former president is right in sense that the current US leader could swiftly settle the Moscow-Kiev conflict, Dmitry Peskov said

Former US President Donald Trump has basically nailed it by suggesting that the White House could put an end to the Ukraine conflict in no time, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

Hours earlier, Trump had claimed on his social media platform Truth Social that if he “were president, the Russia/Ukraine war would never have happened.” Even if it did and he were still US President, Trump “would be able to negotiate an end to this horrible and rapidly escalating war within 24 hours,” he argued.

Commenting on this remark at a media briefing, Peskov stated that Trump is “theoretically… not far away from the truth.”

“Indeed, should the US President wish to put an end to this conflict, he could do it very quickly, using the opportunity to simply give instructions to the Kiev regime,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Such a result is impossible to achieve “overnight or in a couple of days, but in many respects the key to the Kiev regime resides in Washington’s hands,” he stressed.

However, Peskov continued, US President Joe Biden seems reluctant to embrace such a policy, opting instead for “pumping Ukraine with weapons even further.”

Earlier this week, the White House announced the decision to deliver 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

Russia has repeatedly stated that it is open to talks with Ukraine, but only if Ukraine “recognizes the reality on the ground,”including the new status of the regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye as parts of Russia.

Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that while Moscow is “ready to respond to all serious proposals” regarding how to overcome the Ukraine crisis, it is “the West which decides for Ukraine” and it doesn't give Kiev a chance to make any decisions on its own.

South Korea unveils path to ‘normalize’ ties with Pyongyang

Seoul will seek “direct and indirect” contacts with North Korea, the government said

South Korea will use NGOs and international bodies to tilt Pyongyang towards the restart of dialogue, the country’s Unification Ministry said on Friday. It added that the ban on North Korean media may be eased as a goodwill gesture.

The South Korean Unification Ministry, tasked with engaging with Pyongyang, said the government would “seek direct and indirect contact with North Korea through civic groups and international organizations in a bid to open up chances to improve strained inter-Korean ties.”

According to the Yonhap news agency, the Unification Ministry now plans to devise a more detailed strategy provisionally named the New Future Initiative on Unification. As one of the measures, the ministry said it was considering allowing people to read the Rodong Sinmun, the leading North Korean newspaper, at designated spots, but online access would not be allowed. North Korean media is currently banned in South Korea.

North Korea suspended nearly all cooperation with South Korea in 2019 after its negotiations with the US had broken down.

“It is important for North Korea to come back to dialogue with sincerity,” Unification Minister Kwon Young-se said. He added that, although Seoul has remained open to restarting negotiations with Pyongyang, his government was not considering making a concrete offer to North Korea at the moment.

At the same time, newspaper Kyunghyang Shinmun quoted the Unification Ministry as saying that Seoul was hoping to push its neighbor towards negotiations by strengthening diplomatic and economic pressure on North Korea and by maintaining the alliance with the US. “We will create conditions, in which North Korea… will have no choice but to come to dialogue,” Kwon said, as quoted by the newspaper.

Last year, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s sister, Kim Yo-jong, rejected Seoul’s offer of economic benefits in exchange for denuclearization as “foolish.”

South Korea’s outreach plan comes after months of heightened tensions across the Korean Peninsula as Pyongyang stepped up missile tests last year and has enshrined the use of nuclear weapons into national law. Kim Jong-un, meanwhile, demanded that Seoul and the US stop conducting joint military drills, which Pyongyang considers a threat to its security.

Last month, South Korea accused its neighbor of flying several drones across the border, one of which had reached the outskirts of Seoul. “The North Korean authorities must immediately halt provocations that threaten the survival of our people and respond to our government’s offers for talks,” Unification Vice Minister Kim Ki-woong said on Sunday.

EU claims to have found way to access frozen Russian funds – Bloomberg

Brussels reportedly wants to use the seized assets to rebuild Ukraine

The European Union has told member states that it has legal authority to temporarily leverage a hefty amount of Russian Central Bank assets to pay for the rebuilding of Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The mechanism could reportedly involve as much as €33.8 billion ($36.8 billion) of the funds frozen by the bloc as part of the Ukraine-related sanctions imposed on Moscow.

According to the EU’s Council Legal Service, the plan is legally feasible if the assets aren’t expropriated and certain conditions are met. These include a termination date, a focus on liquid assets, and clarity that the principal and interest would be returned to Russia at some point, according to people close to the discussions.

The Group of Seven (G7) and the EU reportedly failed to find a clear legal basis for simply confiscating Russian assets.

Instead, Brussels is considering the idea of pooling the frozen assets together at EU or international level to generate returns that could be used to finance the rebuilding of Ukraine.

According to a number of estimates, the Russian Central Bank’s frozen assets amount to some $300 billion worldwide. EU officials had previously said almost €34 billion ($37 billion) of the funds are sitting in EU-based deposits. The figure is, however, still under assessment.

Ethnic Hungarians living in Ukraine are being enrolled in its armed forces to fight Russia, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has claimed. Kiev's crisis “is not our war” but it hurts Hungarian people, the official stated, which is why Budapest wants it resolved swiftly.

Unfortunately, “peace is rarely spoken about, and those who talk about it are even stigmatized and criticized,” the top Hungarian diplomat argued, speaking on the sidelines of an open debate at the UN Security Council on Thursday. Hungarians are paying a price for it, both economically and with their lives, he added.

“In addition to Ukrainians, Hungarians also die in this war, since Hungarians living in Transcarpathia are being conscripted into the Ukrainian army, too. We’ve seen some footage in recent days of how brutal it sometimes is,”Szijjarto told journalists.

Ukraine has a significant ethnic Hungarian minority living in the region of Transcarpathia, which has long been the focus of tensions between Kiev and Budapest. Hungary has denounced Ukrainian laws that discriminate against non-Ukrainians in education and in other spheres of public life. Ukraine has claimed that its western neighbor undermines its authority with its outreach policies, including by offering Hungarian citizenship to people in Transcarpathia.

Some Hungarian media recently reported on claims that the Ukrainian government was conducting mass military mobilization of ethnic Hungarians, using all sorts of tricks to boost military numbers. Hundreds have been signed up, many against their will, to compensate for the loss of manpower in the east, the news outlet Pesti Sracok claimed. The report said that Kiev is rumored to be planning to get asmany as 10,000 people in Transcarpathia to take up arms within months.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenksky revealed last Sunday that he had ordered the Defense Ministry to boost reserves of manpower, to allow for rotation of troops on the frontline.

“Frankly, I cannot tell everything about how the mobilization processes go. They happen, they must happen, and we really need them,” he explained.

Ukrainian forces reportedly suffered heavy losses in recent weeks. Germany’s Federal Intelligence Agency (BND) estimates that Kiev suffered daily fatalities measured in three-digit numbers in the fighting for the key Donbass city of Artyomovsk, called Bakhmut in Ukraine, according to Der Spiegel.

A Colorado baker who refused to make a cake celebrating a “gender transition” has lost an appeal arguing that his decision was protected free speech.

The Colorado Court of Appeals decided on Thursday that Jack Phillips and Masterpiece Cakeshop broke the law when he refused to bake cakes for people based on their gender identity or sexual orientation.

Phillips won a Supreme court case in 2018 over his refusal to bake a cake for a gay wedding. He has since been relentlessly targeted by LGBT activists.

In Thursday’s ruling, the court said that the symbolism in the decorations on the cake requested by activist Autumn Scardina would not be attributed to the baker — and therefore it is not protected free speech to refuse.

“We conclude that creating a pink cake with blue frosting is not inherently expressive and any message or symbolism it provides to an observer would not be attributed to the baker,” the ruling said.

According to a report from Fox News, John McHugh, one of the lawyers who represent Scardina, said Phillips had only refused to bake the cake because he objected “to the idea of Ms. Scardina wanting a birthday cake that reflects her status as a transgender woman because they object to the existence of transgender people.”

“One need not agree with Jack’s views to agree that all Americans should be free to say what they believe, even if the government disagrees with those beliefs,” Jake Warner, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, who represented Phillips, said in a statement obtained by the network.

It appears the the entire cake and lawsuit were a set up to continue the harassment of Phillips after the previous ruling.

“This case started the day the Supreme Court decided they were going to hear our case. It was a very busy, very crazy day at the shop,” Phillips told Fox News in March. “In the middle of all of this chaos, we got a phone call from an attorney in Denver asking us to create a cake pink on the inside with blue icing on the outside.”

Thousands of Italians sign up against Zelensky speech

The actor-turned-president is due to speak at the country’s largest song competition

Tens of thousands of Italians have signed a petition protesting Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’splanned address at a Eurovision-style song contest. Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini told reporters that the event “should remain the festival of Italian song and nothing else.”

The petition, which blames the Ukrainian conflict on NATO and on Kiev’s “brutal repression” of Russian-speakers in Donbass, has gained around 33,000 signatures, Reuters reported on Friday morning.

It calls on the organizers of the Sanremo Music Festival – a Eurovision-style contest held every year since the 1950s – to withdraw their invitation to Zelensky, who is set to speak via video link on the final night of the contest on February 11.

“Zelensky? I don’t know how he sings,” Salvini told journalists on Thursday. “If I have time to watch [state television] it will be to listen to songs, not to listen to anything else.”

Salvini said that while he supports the “Western position” on the conflict, the stage at Sanremo should “remain reserved for music.”

Former lawmaker Alessandro Di Battista is organizing a “counter-festival” to protest Zelensky’s appearance, Italy’s Il Post newspaper reported, while Gianni Cuperlo of the center-left Democratic Party declared that the organizers of the Sanremo festival shouldn’t “confuse” politics with entertainment.

In the 11 months since Russia’s military operation in Ukraine began, Zelensky has been on a PR blitz in the West. The former actor and comedian has addressed the Glastonbury music festival in the UK, spoken at the Cannes and Venice film festivals, and earlier this month appeared at the Golden Globes, all via video link from Kiev.

$10 billion US-Pfizer COVID-19 Contract Includes Provision That Allows Pfizer to Charge More in the Future

The $10 billion contract between the U.S. government and Pfizer to purchase 500 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine contains a clause indicating that the $20 per dose price may be a floor and not a ceiling going forward.

The contract (No. W15QKN-21-C-0012) was awarded by the Army in December of 2020. It provides Pfizer with $10,016,418,500 to purchase 500 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, at roughly $20 per dose. The last round of doses is set to be delivered by April 30, 2022. Since the Pfizer vaccine requires two doses, this contract does not cover booster shots. But back when the contract was signed, Pfizer may have been thinking about the potential profitability of boosters, when it included the following term: Government Program Pricing

The price per dose in this contract was established per Operation Warp Speed and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and thus is specific to this contract only. This price shall not serve as the basis for pricing under any separate government contracts between Pfizer and HHS, the Department of Defense, or any other Department or agency of the Government by application of most favored customer, most favored nation, or any other contract or program-specific terms.

Pfizer’s most recent 10(q) filing with the SEC forecasts that the Pfizer vaccine will earn $33.5 billion in revenues in 2021 alone.

Pfizer is capable of charging far lower than $20 a dose for its vaccine. The USG has also entered into a contract with Pfizer to purchase 500 million doses of its vaccine for international donation, and the Biden Administration is reportedly in talks to purchase another 500 million. The initial international donation purchase agreement, Contract No. W58P05-21-C-0002, was awarded on July 30, 2021 by the Army. The government paid $3.5 billion, or $7 a dose, the price that Pfizer considers “not-for-profit” but that is probably considerably higher than the actual costs of manufacturing. KEI has not yet obtained a copy of the agreement, but a DOD notice announcing the agreement states that Pfizer will deliver the doses by the end of 2022.

I have a book called "Dissolving Illusions" by Suzanne Humphries and Roman Bystrianyk. That book explains how a lot of infectious diseases were already declining due to better sanitation prior to vaccine deployments. Also, they point out how diagnostic criteria were changed after a vaccine was introduced.

In the case of polio, it seems to me that neurological damage due to poisonous substances such as pesticides was threatening to the bottom line certain industries. Kremlin responds to Nuland’s sanctions offer.

The senior US diplomat has rehashed old talking points that are unacceptable for Moscow, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said

The US is leaving no room for compromise on sanctions and potential negotiations with Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

His statement came after US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland suggested that restrictions on Moscow could be eased if it hands back its newly incorporated territories to Ukraine.

“We still don’t see anything [new] in Madame Nuland’s words.We are absolutely not inclined to exaggerate their importance,” Peskov told reporters.

She toured the capital’s main square, the Maidan, offering loaves of bread and other snacks to protesters and police officers. Two months later, a leaked phonecall revealed that Nuland was discussing who should be included in Ukraine’s new government with Geoffrey Pyatt, the US ambassador to the country at the time.

Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine in late February last year, citing the need to protect the people of Donbass, and Kiev’s failure to implement the Minsk 2014-15 peace accords. Due to perspective near the orbital plane crossing, components of the fanned out dust tail appear on both sides of the comet's green tinted coma though, to lend Comet ZTF a visually striking (left) anti-tail. The mummified remains of a teenage boy, stored unexamined at a museum in Cairo for over a century, have been digitally unwrapped for the first time, revealing an excess of amulets and plants adorned his body.

In a study, published in the journal Frontiers in Medicine on Tuesday, researchers reveal that the unnamed teenager, only 14 or 15 years old, walked into the afterlife wearing a pair of white sandals. They used a computerized tomography (CT) scan, which allows for digital reconstructions of bone, blood vessels, soft tissues and more via X-rays, to peer inside the coffin.

"Here we show that this mummy's body was extensively decorated with 49 amulets, beautifully stylized in a unique arrangement of three columns between the folds of the wrappings and inside the mummy's body cavity," noted Sahar Saleem, a radiologist at Cairo University, Egypt, and first author on the paper. They've dubbed the mummy "Golden Boy."

Saleem notes Golden Boy's adornments are in line with some of the rituals outlined in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, including the sandals. He was adorned with three columns of amulets between the folds of his wrappings, including items like the Eye of Horus – a scarab beetle inside his chest and a two-finger amulet beside his penis. Many of the ornaments were made of gold.

All of his organs had been removed except for his heart, and the scans revealed he also had immaculate teeth.

Golden Boy's coffin was first discovered in 1916 at a necropolis in Nag el Hassaya, the cemetery of the city of Edfu, but were stored away at the Egyptian Museum. The boy lived during the Ptolemaic period between around 330 and 30 BC and was likely of high status thanks to a "lavish gilded mask" that he was buried in. His cause of death is unknown but there were no signs it was unnatural, according to the research.

BREIT gives wealthy clients exposure to a portfolio of commercial real estate properties such as apartment buildings, office towers, and warehouses, but how the investment firm structures product on nontradeable markets opens up liquidity risks in periods of economic turmoil. The ultimate fear is that money managers with clients in BREIT all ask for their cash back at once. Though that hasn't happened, Blackstone has had enough redemption requests to implement a redemption cap to prevent a further run. This creates a vicious feedback doom loop of anxiety for investors. "We have a backlog from November and December," he said, adding, "I will say the tone of the conversations with our advisers is much improved." Perhaps the conversations with advisers improved after Blackstone sent an email to them with talking points to calm their anxious investors. Archeologists in Egypt discovered a 4,300 year-old mummy — possibly the oldest one ever found in the country — during an extraordinary dig near Cairo, officials announced Thursday.

The mummy called “Hekashepes” was located at the bottom of a 49-foot shaft near the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, where the team was working to uncover a cemetery of fifth and sixth-dynasty tombs dating back to the 25th century B.C, Zahi Hawass, director of the team, said in a statement.

Hekashepes’ large rectangular limestone sarcophagus was still sealed with the mortar ancient Egyptians had covered the tomb with over 40 centuries ago.

“I put my head inside to see what was inside the sarcophagus: A beautiful mummy of a man completely covered in layers of gold,” said Hawass, a former Minister of Antiquities for Egypt, noting that the mummy could be the “oldest” and “most complete found in Egypt to date.

The discovery of Hekashepes was hardly the most exciting find during the year-long excavation at Gisr al-Mudir, one of the oldest known stone structures in Egypt.

The “most important” tomb archeologists found belonged to Khnum-djed-ef, who was a priest, an inspector of officials and a supervisor of nobles in the pyramid complex of Unas, a pharaoh who ruled in the mid-24th century B.C.

There, the scientists also found the tomb of a royal palace official named Meri, “keeper of the secrets and assistant to the great leader of the palace, “who had the second-largest tomb in the cemetery.

In the pyramid complex of King Pepi I, a pharaoh who ruled at the turn of the 24th and 23rd centuries B.C., archeologists found the tomb of a priest that may have been named Messi, based on a false door that was found neat nine statues of the ancient Egyptian people.

A final mummy was found inside a stone sarcophagus beside an offering table and a group of stone statues representing a person named Fetek, Hawass said.

“Additionally, the expedition yielded many amulets, stone vessels, tools for daily life, and statues of deities, along with pottery,” said Hawass.

The monumental discovery comes just days after authorities said they found the ruins of an ancient Roman city near the southern city of Luxor, where they also found dozens of burial sites from the New Kingdom era, dating from 1800 B.C. to 1600 B.C.

Commenting on the German foreign minister’s declaration that Europe is “fighting a war against Russia,” Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said on Thursday that this was news to him, and wished Berlin better luck than in WWII.

Croatia “should in no way help” Ukraine militarily, Milanovic said while visiting the port city of Split. “Do you want us to enter the war?”

Framing the Ukraine conflict as one between Washington and Moscow, he reminded reporters that he was criticized for merely echoing the words of Kiev’s defense minister, about the current conflict being a “proxy war”between NATO and Russia.

“Now the German foreign minister says we must be united, because I quote, we are at war with Russia. I didn’t know that,” Milanovic said. “Maybe Germany is at war with Russia, but then, good luck, maybe this time it turns out better than 70-odd years ago.”

The Croatian president was baffled to hear such a claim from the leader of the German Greens, which he said used to be a pacifist party equally against the US and the USSR, and not from Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“If we are at war with Russia, then let’s see what we need to do. But we won’t ask Germany for its opinion,” Milanovic added. “Let them figure out who is the actual chancellor over there. I’ve been in politics for a long time, and our country has been through a lot, butI’ve never seen this kind of madness before.”

When it comes to tanks, “Russian or American,they burn just the same,” Milanovic said, noting that deliveries of armor to Ukraine – announced by the US and Germany this week – will only prolong the fighting,

The social-democrat president has frequently clashed with the nationalist parliamentary majority over Croatia’s Ukraine policy. Just last month, Milanovic opposed Zagreb’s participation in the EU program to train Ukrainian troops, saying it clashed with Croatia’s constitution.

Unless the US and Russia are holding some kind of talks,the world is “slowly sliding into World War Three,” Milanovic added. “Some people think it has already begun, but I have my reservations.”

Archaeologists have discovered a residential area in Luxor dating to the time when the Roman Empire ruled Egypt.

A team of archaeologists from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities found a number of residential buildings, along with workshops and pigeon towers (where pigeons could be raised for eating), according to a ministry statement(opens in new tab), which noted that this is the "first complete residential city" from the Roman Empire era found in east Luxor. A variety of artifacts were also uncovered, including pottery, bells, grinding tools (often used for food preparation), and Roman coins made of copper and bronze.

The residential area is close to Luxor Temple, a large religious center built during the reigns of several pharaohs before the Roman Empire, including Amenhotep III, Ramesses II and Tutankhamun. But the residential area dates to much later, during the second and third centuries A.D. During this time, Egypt was a Roman province and Roman emperors were sometimes depicted as pharaohs.

The team found that when the Romans took over Luxor, they started raising pigeons by erecting pigeon towers containing pots that the pigeons could use as nests, the statement said. Pigeons are the descendants of rock doves (Columba livia), which breed on rocky, coastal cliffs; but towers can mimic cliff conditions, making the birds feel right at home.

Live Science contacted a number of scholars who were not involved with the research to get their thoughts.

Susanna McFadden(opens in new tab), a professor of art history at the University of Hong Kong who specializes in Greco-Roman art, called the finds "exciting news." She is curious to learn how the team determined that the remains dated to the second and third centuries A.D.

She also wonders if there could be a relationship between this settlement and a military camp that was active in the area during the reign of the Roman emperor Diocletian (reign circa 284 to 305). "It stands to reason that a residential area servicing the camp would have grown up outside the walls," McFadden told Live Science in an email.

Another scholar noted that this Roman residential area is not an entirely new find. The residential area in Luxor has "been known for a long time," Jacek Kościuk(opens in new tab), professor emeritus at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland, told Live Science in an email.

Kościuk participated in excavations of Roman residential remains at Luxor that were carried out by an Egyptian-German team in the early 1980s. He sent Live Science two(opens in new tab) papers(opens in new tab), published in 2011 in the journal Bulletin de la Société d'Archéologie Copte (Bulletin of the Coptic Archaeological Society), noting that while the 1980s team was able to survey only a small part of the settlement, they found the remains of Roman houses and baths.

While the existence of the Roman residential area was already known, the recent excavations unearthed a large portion of it, which may shed new light on what Luxor was like in Roman times. The new finds have "the potential to elucidate some critical research questions about Roman-era [Luxor], if the analysis is done carefully," McFadden said.

Background

On December 27th, 2020, the Israeli Defense Forces initiated a mass COVID-19 vaccination campaign aiming to vaccinate its personnel. This population upheld specific characteristics in terms of age and sex, lack of significant comorbidities, and a general scarcity of risk factors for sustaining a severe COVID-19 illness. We present the measures taken to increase vaccination compliance, and the vaccination rate that followed these actions. Our secondary goal was to compare between vaccination rates in frontline battalions and highly essential military units (group A) and rear administration and support military units (group B).

Conclusions

A designated army campaign led by a multidisciplinary team could rapidly achieve a high COVID-19 vaccination rate. The information presented can serve organizations worldwide with similar characteristics that plan a mass COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Biden Releases Latest Plan to Funnel Illegal Migrants into the United States

Hiding the scope of the border disaster by playing a shell gameThe Biden administration released its latest plan to funnel illegal migrants into the United States, summarized in a fact sheet inaptly titled “Biden-⁠Harris Administration Announces New Border Enforcement Actions” because there’s little “enforcement” in it. My colleagues will be analyzing the massive (and illegal) “parole” for up to 360,000 aliens per year included in the plan, but I just wanted to quickly translate a few of the White House’s proposals into English.

Current Law. When aliens are apprehended entering the United States illegally, DHS has two choices on how to process them: (1) expedited removal under section 235(b)(1) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA); or (2) “regular” removal under section 235(b)(2) of the INA.

Expedited removal is exactly what it sounds like: A fast-track process by which aliens who have no documents allowing them to be admitted (including illegal entrants) are quickly removed.

The defect in that fast-track process is the requirement that aliens who have asserted a fear of harm or who have expressly requested asylum are to be sent to an asylum officer from USCIS to determine whether they have a “credible fear” of persecution.

Credible fear is a screening process to determine whether the alien may be eligible for asylum, and consequently the standard for credible fear is low: “a significant possibility, taking into account the credibility of the statements made by the alien in support of the alien's claim and such other facts as are known to the officer, that the alien could establish eligibility for asylum”.

That defect would not be fatal were it not for a decision made under the Obama administration in December 2009 to release on parole aliens who had received positive credible fear determinations from an asylum officer.

That directly contravened a requirement in section 235(b)(1) of the INA that aliens subject to expedited removal be detained, from the moment that they are apprehended until they are either granted asylum or removed.

Up until FY 2010 (the fiscal year in which that Obama parole directive was issued), only about 5 percent of aliens subject to expedited removal claimed a fear of harm or requested asylum. In FY 2010, that rose to 7 percent, then to 15 percent in FY 2013, 25 percent in FY 2015, and 39 percent in FY 2016.

Would-be illegal migrants — and more importantly their smugglers — realized that a credible fear claim was a “quick ticket” to entry into the United States, particularly given that the credible fear standard was low and that the rate at which asylum officers issued positive credible fear determinations (81 percent between FY 2008 and the fourth quarter of FY 2019) was consequently sky high.

By the time Trump took office in FY 2017, 44 percent of aliens subject to expedited removal were claiming credible fear, a figure that climbed to 48 percent of the more than 178,000 aliens in expedited removal proceedings by FY 2018. Trump at that point could not detain the more than 65,000 aliens who had received positive credible fear determinations, and so he could not reverse the Obama-era release policy…
