Arecently retired FBI supervisory intelligence analyst told Congress in a whistleblower disclosure that agents in Boston were improperly pressured by Washington to open criminal cases on 140 people who had simply taken a bus ride to the Jan. 6 rally in Washington. The agents refused because there was no evidence the attendees engaged in any criminality, the whistleblower said.

George Hill's testimony to the House Judiciary Committee also raised new civil liberty concerns about the FBI's Jan. 6 probe, including whether the Bureau mined Americans' bank records without court authority and whether the agency possesses video footage it is refusing to release because it identifies undercover agents and human sources who were at the U.S. Capitol that fateful day.

Hill, a military veteran and longtime analyst for the National Security Agency (NSA) and FBI who retired last year from the Bureau's Boston field office, told Just the News on Wednesday night that he disclosed concerns earlier this week to the House Judiciary Committee during a transcribed deposition, including that the Bureau analyzed banking data without evidence of a crime – simply to find Americans who traveled to Washington around the time of Jan. 6 or who owned a gun.

Hill said supervisors in the Washington field office pressured to open cases, first on seven individuals who came up in a sweep of bank records provided by Bank of America, and then on the larger group of 140 Americans who paid to take bus rides to President Donald Trump's now infamous rally on Jan. 6, 2021, the day a mob overran police lines and flooded into the Capitol as Congress met to certify the 2020 election results. He credited his supervisors in Boston for resisting the pressure.

"There's no evidence of a crime being committed here," he said during a wide-ranging interview on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show. "We cannot open up preliminary investigations on someone for using a financial instrument in the District. And so they pushed back, and Boston did not take any action on those names."

Hill also said the Washington field office, which led the Jan. 6 probe, did not react well to the refusal, escalating up the chain of command, but at each step of the process the Boston office held its ground. "Getting on a bus and participating in a political rally is not predication for a crime or a preliminary investigation," he said, explaining why Boston resisted.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Just the News on Wednesday night that Hill's information provided an essential roadmap for his select subcommittee's investigation into potential weaponization of law enforcement agencies like the FBI.

"I appreciate this brave whistleblower coming forward," Jordan said in an interview. "He’s worked in the military and then as an FBI agent. And he gave us a lot of valuable information that will be the foundation for our weaponization investigation going forward."

Hill's account backs up other FBI whistleblowers, like Special Agent Steve Friend, who've alleged the FBI's Washington field office exerted undue pressure and exhibited political bias in an effort to get field offices around the country to open up as many domestic terrorism cases on Jan. 6 attendees as possible, to pad numbers or to make Trump supporters who came to Washington feel pain and shame. "The process was the punishment," Friend told Just the News.

NATO member comments on F-16s for Kiev

A decision on actual delivery to Ukraine lies with the military bloc, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said

 

The delivery of Polish F-16 fighter jets to Kiev’s forces ultimately depends on decisions by NATO, which has yet to reach any agreement on the issue, Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said.

 

However, nothing is completely off the table and “we shouldn’t exclude anything,” the premier added, speaking to Italian daily Corriere della Sera on Thursday.

 

Later in the day, on the sidelines of an extraordinary EU summit in Brussels, Morawiecki noted that if the bloc does decide to send fighter jets,Warsaw will not be “the first in line” to donate its planes and that this responsibility should fall on countries that have the most of them.

 

Morawiecki has previously stated that he is personally open to deliveries of US-made fighter jets to Ukraine, despite his Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak insisting that Poland has “too few of them.”

 

In Thursday's Corriere interview, the Polish leader also suggested that the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine presents “an existential threat for Poland and all of Europe,” and declared that defeating Russia is both a “Polish and a European reason of state.”

 

Last month the US, Germany and the UK announced that they would deliver dozens of Leopard 2, M1 Abrams and Challenger 2 tanks to the Ukrainian army, as well as longer-range missiles. However, no Western nations have yet sent or announced deliveries of any fighter jets to Ukraine, with officials fearing Kiev could use these to strike Russian territory, potentially provoking a significant escalation of the conflict. The UK, however, has recently announced it would nevertheless provide training for Ukrainian pilots.

 

While a number of EU states such as France, Poland and the Netherlands have stated they are open to sending warplanes to Ukraine, the bloc’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, stated last week that the topic was a “highly controversial”issue for the union and suggested that its members should instead focus on fulfilling their promise of tank deliveries.

 

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that talks about fighter-jet deliveries to Kiev once again underline the growing involvement of Western countries in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He reiterated Moscow’s position that such actions only serve to escalate and prolong it, and would lead to more bloodshed while failing to change the ultimate outcome of Russia’s military operation.

EXCLUSIVE — Well-funded "disinformation" tracking groups are part of a stealth operation blacklisting and trying to defund conservative media, likely costing the news companies large sums in advertising dollars, a Washington Examiner investigation found.

Major ad companies are increasingly seeking guidance from purportedly "nonpartisan" groups claiming to be detecting and fighting online "disinformation." These same "disinformation" monitors are compiling secret website blacklists and feeding them to ad companies, with the aim of defunding and shutting down disfavored speech, according to sources familiar with the situation, public memos, and emails obtained by the Washington Examiner.

Brands, which have been seeking to promote products online through multiple websites to expand their digital footprint, are turning to corporate digital ad companies keyed into global markets. In turn, some of these companies are contracting "disinformation" trackers to obtain private information about which websites they should purportedly "defund."

The Global Disinformation Index, a British group with two affiliated U.S. nonprofit groups sharing similar board members, is one entity shaping the ad world behind the scenes. GDI's CEO is Clare Melford, former senior vice president for MTV Networks, and its executive director is Daniel Rogers, a tech advisory board member for Human Rights First, a left-leaning nonprofit group that says disinformation fuels "violent extremism and public health crises."

"It's devastating," Mike Benz, the State Department's ex-deputy assistant for internal communications and information policy, told the Washington Examiner. "The implementation of ad revenue crushing sentinels like Newsguard, Global Disinformation Index, and the like has completely crippled the potential of alternative news sources to compete on an even economic playing field with approved media outlets like CNN and the New York Times."

GDI's mission is to "remove the financial incentive" to create "disinformation," and its "core output" is a secretive "dynamic exclusion list" that rates news outlets based on their alleged disinformation "risk" factor, according to its website. Along with similar organizations, GDI has been raking in cash as funding pours into disinformation tracking. Its charity in San Antonio, Texas, posted $345,000 in revenue in 2020, while its affiliated private foundation saw its roughly $19,600 revenue jump in 2019 to over $569,000 in 2020, according to tax records.

One influential ad company that has subscribed to GDI's exclusion list to defund outlets purportedly spreading disinformation is Xandr, which Microsoft bought from AT&T in 2021 for $1 billion, according to emails leaked to the Washington Examiner.

Xandr informed companies in September 2022 that it would begin adopting GDI's exclusion list to punish content that is "morally reprehensible or patently offensive," lacking "redeeming social value," or "could include false or misleading information," emails show.

"To enforce this change, Xandr is partnering with the Global Disinformation Index ('GDI') and will be adopting their exclusion list," Xandr wrote to other companies, linking to an appeal "webform" for publishers to complete if they disagree with their "risk" rating.

This exclusion list is developed with oversight from GDI's "advisory panel," which counts journalists, professors, and data scientists, according to GDI reports. Three advisers include Ben Nimmo, global lead for threat intelligence at Facebook's parent company Meta, journalist Anne Applebaum, who said Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings are not "interesting," and University of Washington professor Franziska Roesner.

The Church of England‘s governing body on Thursday endorsed plans to let priests offer blessings to same-sex couples, after hours of acrimonious debate highlighted deep Anglican divisions on the issue.

 

The Church’s General Synod — comprising hundreds of elected members, which meets two or three times a year — backed the proposals by a wide margin following an eight-hour debate across two days.

 

A total of 250 bishops, clergy and laity supported the reforms, while 181 opposed them and 10 abstained, at a vote held at the Synod gathering in central London.

 

Unveiled last month after nearly six years of internal debate, the plans will not change rules banning Anglican priests from officiating at weddings of same-sex couples.

 

Synod members supported an amendment endorsing that stance, while also voting in favour of the proposal to allow blessings for civil marriages or civil partnerships in a church.

 

They also recognised “the failure of the Church to be welcoming” to LGBTQ people, following an unprecedented apology last month by bishops for the “hostile and homophobic response” they have sometimes faced.

 

But the moves have sparked a backlash from progressive Anglicans who say the Church is not going far enough, and from critics arguing any changes are divisive and unwelcome.

 

Bishop of London Sarah Mullally welcomed the Synod’s backing for the changes, and acknowledged the splits with the Anglican church in Britain and beyond.

 

“I recognise that there are those who are deeply thankful for this and there are those who are hurting,” she said, vowing to “be mindful of the deep divisions” going forward.

 

“These divisions on these questions go to the heart of our human identity,” Mullally noted.

 

“I and the archbishops hope that today’s thoughtful, prayerful debate marks a new beginning for the Church as we seek to go forward, listening to each other.”

 

The Church of England has been under political pressure to reform its approach to same-sex marriage ever since it became legal in England and Wales in 2013.

 

Although dozens of other countries have legalised same-sex unions, homosexuality remains banned in many parts of the world.

 

That includes in highly religious and conservative countries in sub-Saharan Africa, which help make up the Anglican Communion of 43 Churches in 165 countries.

 

Anglicanism boasts around 85 million members, and is the third largest Christian communion after the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches.

Starting with the public function test, the Court extended the First Amendment to apply to the actions of a private party in Marsh v. Alabama, barring the punishment of a resident of a company-owned town for distributing religious literature.6 While the town was owned by a private corporation, it ha[d] all the characteristics of any other American town, including residences, businesses, streets, utilities, public safety officers, and a post office.7 Under these circumstances, the Court held that the corporation’s property interests did not settle the question8: [w]hether a corporation or a municipality owns or possesses the town[,] the public in either case has an identical interest in the functioning of the community in such manner that the channels of communication remain free.9 Consequently, the corporation could not be permitted to govern a community of citizens in a way that restrict[ed] their fundamental liberties.10..

Airlines have complained about a shortage for several years, but they made it worse during the pandemic by encouraging pilots to take early retirement when air travel collapsed in 2020. Helane Becker, an analyst for Cowen who has tracked the issue closely, estimates that 10,000 pilots have left the field since then. Private forecasts are dire, too. Consulting firm Oliver Wyman estimates that despite efforts to close the gap, airlines in North America will face a shortage of nearly 30,000 pilots by 2032. The supply of new pilots will grow, but not enough to offset a continuing wave of retirements, the consultant says. There is cause for hope, however. Last year, the FAA issued 9,588 airline-transport licenses — the type needed to fly for an airline. That topped even the recent peak of 9,520 in 2016. The key question is whether that pace can be maintained. Some of last year's spurt might have been catch-up from low numbers in 2020 and 2021, which were held down by the pandemic. "The airlines are doing their best to move things along, but it’s an uphill slog," Becker said. Southwest Airlines has more than 700 planes but parks 40 to 45 of them each day because it lacks pilots to fly them, said CEO Bob Jordan at a recent media event. That amounts to more than 200 flights a day or up to 8% of the Dallas-based airline’s flying. Southwest expects to hire 2,250 pilots this year after adding about 1,200 last year, mostly by drawing from smaller airlines. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby says the lack of pilots will continue to prevent airlines from expanding as much as they would like to take advantage of strong travel demand. "Pilots are and will remain a significant constraint on capacity," he said during an earnings call last month.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is working with national authorities and partners to track the situation and investigate any human cases of H5N1 infection when they arise.

 

“WHO’s global laboratory network, the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System, identifies and monitors strains of circulating influenza viruses, and provides advice to countries on their risk to human health and available treatment or control measures,” Tedros said.

 

WHO urged countries to “strengthen surveillance in settings where humans and farmed or wild animals interact.”

 

According to Tedros, WHO is maintaining dialogue with pharmaceutical companies to ensure that sufficient vaccine and antiviral supplies are on hand for widespread distribution should they be required.

US Links China's Military To 'Balloon Surveillance Program' That Targeted Over 40 Countries

 

As debris from the shot-down Chinese balloon recovered from the Atlantic Ocean presumably continues to be analyzed, US officials have been cited in Reuters and The Wall Street Journal to describe that the alleged spy balloon was part of a much bigger than previously believed "balloon surveillance program" by China which has targeted over 40 countries.

 

"The United States will also explore taking action against PRC entities linked to the PLA that supported the balloon's incursion into U.S. airspace," a senior State Department official said in a statement released Thursday.

 

"We are confident that the balloon manufacturer has a direct relationship with China's military and is an approved vendor of the PLA, according to information published in an official procurement portal for the PLA," the official said.

 

But notably, the State Department did not reveal whether ongoing examination of the actual wreckage from the balloon that passed over the United States late last week before it was shot down Saturday off the South Carolina coast is primarily informing the current assessment.

 

However, The Wall Street Journal does hint that the recovered debris points in the direction of it being a spy balloon:

 

The Chinese balloon that crossed the U.S. was outfitted with antennas likely capable of collecting communications, a senior State Department official said Thursday, adding that the Biden administration is preparing to take action against China’s surveillance program.

 

Providing details the U.S. has gathered since tracking and shooting down the balloon, the official said the balloon was also equipped with large solar panels capable of powering an array of intelligence-collection sensors. The manufacturer of the balloon has a direct relationship with the Chinese military, the official added.

 

The statements provide less than certainty, given the official used qualifiers such as it being "likely capable" of collecting communications, and further that its solar panels are "capable" of powering intelligence-collection sensors. At this point it seems a smoking gun has yet to be presented for public view based on the actual balloon shot down.

 

According to more via Reuters, describing the Chinese balloon manufacturer, "The company also advertises balloon products on its website and hosts videos from past flights, which appear to have overflown at least U.S. airspace and the airspace of other countries, the official said, without naming the business."

 

"The official said the United States has collected high-resolution imagery of the balloon from U-2 aircraft flybys that revealed it was capable of conducting signals intelligence collection operations, the report continues. The official then said, "China had conducted similar surveillance flights over more than 40 countries on five continents."

 

China has sarcastically quipped that the US has launched a "war on weather balloons" - continuing to reject that it was for spying…

ZDF Director Dr. Norbert Himmler: “Democracy thrives on an open and fair dialogue in society. We must not leave that to the major American platforms. The ‘Public Spaces Incubator’ project is intended to show ways in which public broadcasting can create independent and fact-based communication spaces in the digital world can build. Our common goal is to counter the increase in hatred, violence, propaganda and defamation on social media with a public service alternative.”

 

The four broadcasting companies are conducting the research project in cooperation with the non-profit organization New_ Public, which has extensive experience and expertise in non-profit-oriented digital communication. Co-founder Eli Pariser is known in Germany as the author of the book “The Filter Bubble: How We Are Being Disenfranchised on the Internet”. Parisian and co-founder Deepti Doshi, together with the New_Public team, design interdisciplinary digital spaces to strengthen democratic civic coexistence.

 

During the 1930s, the German state-controlled media also colluded with western media outlets.

 

A major example of this was the Associated Press.

 

In return for access to Germany, The Associated Press agreed to not publish anything “calculated to weaken the strength of the Reich abroad or at home”.

AP has removed Roth’s pictures from its website since Scharnberg published her findings, though thumbnails remain viewable due to “software issues”.

Senator John Fetterman Hospitalized

 

Newly-elected Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman - whose campaign repeatedly affirmed over the past year that he was in good health - has been hospitalized after feeling "lightheaded" on Wednesday of this week.

 

His communications director, Joe Calvello, told Bloomberg this week that there was no evidence that Fetterman, who had a stroke while running for election last year, had another stroke. Calvello said: “Initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation.”

 

Fetterman was last seen at the President's State of the Union address on Tuesday night. He had then gone to a Democratic retreat on Wednesday, but was forced to leave.

 

He “left and called his staff, who picked him up and drove him to the George Washington University Hospital,” Calvello told Bloomberg. He added that Fetterman was in: "good spirits and talking with his staff and family.”

 

Prior to his election, Fetterman's televised debate performance against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz, had become a talking point due to his inability to articulate himself. Those who questioned Fetterman's ability or health were labeled as "ableist".

 

During the debate, Fetterman's health became one of the first issues discussed. Fetterman supposedly, at the time, got a letter from a doctor giving him the “all clear for full duty” to work in office, but avoided the request of releasing his full medical records surrounding his stroke.

 

Additionally, as was noted last October, Fetterman had numerous members of the media running interference for him for the better part of the five months leading up to the debate. Several mainstream media reporters, like Kara Swisher, chimed in, claiming that Fetterman was recovering well from his stroke and hadn't had any issues communicating.

 

People like Swisher stepped in to do damage control when other members of the media, like Dasha Burns, had the true courage to point out what were likely very inconvenient facts for her employer, MSNBC, and their political affiliation: that it "wasn't clear" Fetterman was understanding their conversation at the time.

Composer Burt Bacharach has died at the age of 94.

 

Bacharach died Wednesday at home in Los Angeles of natural causes, his publicist Tina Brausam said Thursday.

 

The Oscar-winner was known for songs such as "Walk on By," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" and many more.

 

Bacharach triumphed in multiple art forms.

 

He was an eight-time Grammy winner, a prize-winning Broadway composer for "Promises, Promises" and a three-time Oscar winner. He received two Academy Awards in 1970, for the score of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and for the song "Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head." In 1982, he and his then-wife, lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, won Oscars for "Best That You Can Do," the theme from "Arthur." His other movie soundtracks included "What’s New, Pussycat?," "Alfie" and the 1967 James Bond spoof "Casino Royale."

 

The composer wrote songs for many musicians, including Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and Tom Jones. Elvis Presley and others would often cover his songs as well.

 

Fellow songwriter Sammy Cahn liked to joke that the smiling, wavy-haired Bacharach was the first composer he ever knew who did not look like a dentist.

 

Bacharach was a "swinger," as they called such men in his time, whose many romances included actor Angie Dickinson, to whom he was married from 1965-80, and Sager, his wife from 1982-1991. The composer was married four times throughout his life.

 

Bacharach was known for the composition of pop songs, but he also wrote melodies for country music artists along with rhythm and blues, soul and more.

 

More recently, the composer worked with rapper Dr. Dre.

 

Bacharach is survived by his fourth wife Jane Hansen along with his children Oliver, Raleigh and Cristopher. He was preceded in death by his daughter he shared with Dickinson, Nikki Bacharach.

MSCHF — a product design studio on a mission to go viral with every launch — announced the upcoming release of a peculiar-looking pair of shoes, dubbed “Big Red Boots.”

 

The company describes the latest piece, made with a combination of polyurethane rubber and vinyl acetate, as “cartoon boots for a cool 3D world.”

 

However, many believe the shoes are directly inspired by the Japanese manga comic book series and its titular man character, Astro Boy.

 

“Bro I need them Astro boy boots 😂💯,” wrote one eager buyer in the comments section of a TikTok clip posted by Bowery Showroom, a New York City-based boutique that specializes in novelty designs and local artists.

 

“How y’all got the Astro boy boots alreadyyyyy?” rued one late shopper.

 

MSCHF has said they incorporated “cartoonishness” into the shoe design,so wearers could feel freed “from the constraints of reality.”

This email was found on Hunter Biden’s laptop computer, but not analyzed before our report on Wednesday. The email included a request from Burisma officials asking Hunter to use his “influence” to end an ongoing investigation of the company in Ukraine.

 

As TGP reported, the entire situation was later exposed by Joe Biden boasting in front of a camera.

 

In his own words, with cameras rolling, Joe Biden described how he threatened the Ukrainian President and warned that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees, sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if Ukraine didn’t immediately fire the prosecutor investigating Burmisa Holdings.

 

Joe’s son Hunter was on the Board of Burisma and making tens of thousands a month for doing nothing but “fixing things.”

 

Today we have another email that corroborates the email from yesterday included in the above article.

 

The email embedded in yesterday’s article was dated May 12, 2014. This was a little more than a year before the Ukrainian investigator looking into Burisma was let go following Joe Biden’s threats to the leader of Ukraine in early 2016.

 

At the same time as the exchange with Hunter, Hunter Biden’s Burisma contact, Vadim Pozharsky, was signing on attorneys with the law firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP in the US.

 

In an email dated May 12, 2014, Vadim notes the following regarding the agreement being signed between the law firm and Burisma. The work to be started begins with the following bullet.

 

1) Immediately: Advise on how to use Washington, DC contacts to stop the politically motivated attacks on Burisma taking place right now in Ukraine.

Republican councilman shot dead in apparent murder-suicide

 

A Republican councilman in New Jersey is dead, the victim of an apparent murder-suicide.

 

At approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, police received several reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a local PSE&G, a major gas and electricity provider. When police arrived at the PSE&G in Somerset, New Jersey, about 30 miles south of Newark, they discovered 51-year-old Russell Heller, a senior distribution supervisor who had worked for the company for 11 years, shot dead.

 

A preliminary investigation indicated that a former PSE&G employee, 58-year-old Gary Curtis, approached Heller in the parking lot and shot him outside his vehicle. Curtis then reportedly fled the scene.

 

Police were able to trace Curtis' whereabouts and, about three and a half hours after the shooting, discovered his vehicle in Bridgewater Township, about 10 miles away. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Curtis inside. He was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a firearm was located in his possession.

 

Investigators are still trying to determine Curtis' former role at the utility company and what type of relationship he may have had with Heller, if any. A press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office stated that the shooting was likely an "isolated" incident and that "Mr. Heller was the intended target," though a motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.

Democrats Pass Resolution Condemning ‘White Religious Nationalism’

 

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has passed a resolution condemning “white religious nationalism,” stating that “theocracy is incompatible with democracy and religious freedom.”

 

The motion was approved in Philadelphia this past weekend, where Democrat leaders gathered for their winter meeting. The resolution, which had more than 30 co-sponsors from across the country, linked religious nationalism with “white nationalism,” arguing that “one of many heinous elements of white nationalism is its perversion of religion to make their hateful message more palatable.”

 

The authors claimed that “religious nationalism” — particularly Christian nationalism or “white Christian nationalism” — has been condemned by “faith leaders” in recent years. Authors pointed to the January 6 Capitol protests as a clear example of the “white, Christian nationalist” threat.

 

“White religious nationalism has used the cover of patriotism to foment and inflame hate by providing cover for racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and islamophobia,” the resolution read. Ultimately, the resolution linked the rise of “white Christian nationalism” with the decision to overturn Roe V. Wade, as well as numerous other GOP initiatives.

 

Michael Bearfoot, a Democratic delegate from Minnesota who submitted the resolution, celebrated its passage in a statement. “White religious nationalism has an end goal of a white religious state,” Bearfoot said in a statement to Religion News Service. “This has no place for me as a black pagan. This is why I was proud to introduce this resolution and was happy that it passed.”

 

Sarah Levin, who co-chairs the DNC Interfaith Council as a “secular representative,” also praised the document. “Since he was elected, President Biden has been warning Americans about the threats to our democracy on multiple fronts,” Levin said in a statement. “White Christian nationalism should be at the top of that list, and for the sake of our democracy, it’s time to call it what it is.”

 

“By recognizing the connection between this movement and the broad-ranging attacks on nearly everything Democrats are fighting for, this resolution puts those of us who believe in democracy, freedom and religious pluralism in a stronger position to join forces.”

Australian Reporter Drops Hammer on Live TV: ‘Fit & Healthy People Are Dropping Down with Heart Issues’

 

A popular Australian TV reporter went off-script during a live broadcast to raise concerns about people suffering severe side effects from Covid vaccines.

 

Nine Network host Karl Stefanovic left viewers stunned after he publicly criticized the latest recommendations for a fifth booster shot of the Covid vaccine on live TV.

 

On Wednesday, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ATAGI) released new recommendations for COVID-19 booster shots for all adult Australians.

 

It states that all adults between the ages of 18 and 29 should get the fourth jab while all people above the age of 30 are recommended to get the fifth jab.

 

During Wednesday’s broadcast of Nine Network’s breakfast show “Today,” the hosts discussed the new ATAGI recommendations for boosters.

 

Stefanovic appeared to then veer off-script to declare that he’s “done with vaccines” before arguing that they can lead to “heart issues.”

 

During the initial roll-out of the first vaccinations, Stefanovic was one of many celebrities and media figures to promote the shots in Australia.

 

He received his jab on TV and encouraged the public to get their shots.

 

Stefanovic was also part of the Australian government’s advertisement campaign for vaccines.

 

However, he has now changed his tune.

 

“As you know, I’m not a glowing ambassador for more than two shots,” Stefanovic said in seemingly unscripted comments.

 

“I’ve just decided that I’ve had Covid a couple of times and I’m done with the vaccines.”

 

Stefanovic then discussed the boosters with medical expert Dr. Nick Coatsworth.

 

He asked Coatsworth if the vaccines “are necessary” before going completely off script to discuss sudden deaths and heart issues.

 

Stefanovic said he is now more worried about having complications if he has another dose of the vaccine than he is about getting Covid.

 

“The other thing that I’m concerned about is that if I have another dose, that I may get complications,” he said.

 

“I’ve seen all this, all these reports on the Internet about fit and healthy people just dropping down with heart issues, and it’s still not obviously established yet whether or not the vaccine caused some of these heart issues.

 

“But that’s a worry for me more so than getting Covid.”

House Passes Legislation To Block DC’s New Crime Law

 

The U.S. House on Thursday passed a resolution of disapproval to block the Washington, D.C., Council’s Revised Criminal Code Act of 2022, which would lower penalties for a number of violent criminal offenses.

 

The Daily Caller first broke the news on the legislation on Feb. 2. The vote was 250-173.

 

Congress can exercise authority over D.C. local affairs, according to the District Clause of the Constitution (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17), and Congress reviews all D.C. legislation before it can become law. Congress can change or even overturn D.C. legislation and can impose new laws on the district.

 

In November 2022, the D.C. Council approved the Revised Criminal Code Act (RCCA). The RCCA reduces penalties for certain violent criminal offenses, including carjackings, robberies, and homicides. Democratic Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser vetoed the bill on Jan. 4. The council then overrode Bowser’s veto Jan. 17 by a vote of 12-1.

 

“This is a major first step for Congress in our fight to save our nation’s capital from being further plagued by violent crime. We have both a constitutional and moral obligation to take action against the D.C. Council’s Revised Criminal Code Act, which will undoubtedly embolden and incentivize criminals to continue terrorizing the streets of D.C.,” Republican Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde, who introduced the resolution, told the Caller immediately after the vote.

 

“I’m encouraged that we passed my commonsense resolution with bipartisan support, and I urge the Senate to swiftly follow suit so we can ensure all Americans can safely enjoy our nation’s capital city,” Clyde added.

 

The bill must go through a 60-day review process in Congress. During this time, each chamber can pass a resolution of disapproval to block the measure. If the bill does receive congressional approval, D.C. would begin phasing in the new criminal code in 2025. The estimated cost is around $50 million.

Oversight Committee Demands Biden Family Members Deliver Bank Docs, Leases, Classified Materials

 

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) on Thursday issued a letter demanding Biden family members deliver troves of documents and communications relevant to his probe into the Biden family for wire fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering, along with six other potential violations.

 

The letters, sent to Hunter and James Biden, along with the family’s business partner Eric Schwerin, requested a host of both classified and unclassified documents, records, and communications between business associates and family members, including President Joe Biden.

 

“Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Eric Schwerin are key witnesses in our investigation of Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s international and domestic business schemes,” Comer wrote in a statement. “Evidence obtained in our investigation reveals the Biden family business model is built on Joe Biden’s political career and connections.”

 

Comer noted the Biden family business model included peddling influence to foreign adversaries while Joe Biden was a U.S. official, which he designated as a national security threat.

 

“Biden family members attempted to sell access around the world, including individuals who were connected to the Chinese Communist Party, to enrich themselves to the detriment of American interests,” Comer said. “If President Biden is compromised by deals with foreign adversaries and they are impacting his decision making, this is a threat to national security.”

Teen Steps in to Prevent Rape of 13 Year Old Girl: Alleged Attacker is Migrant with 11 Prior Convictions

 

A 49-year-old Algerian migrant with a series of criminal convictions was arrested after a teenager stopped him as he was allegedly trying to rape a 13-year-old girl in a suburb of the French city of Bordeaux.

 

The incident took place Saturday in Cenon on the outskirts of Bordeaux and saw the 49-year-old Algerian migrant approach the 13-year-old on the street. The girl was reportedly on the phone with her mother at the time.

 

According to Frédérique Porterie, public prosecutor in Bordeaux, the Algerian “came running towards her, grabbed her, pushed her and knocked her down before pulling her by the hair and running his hand through her trousers” the newspaper Le Figaro reports.

 

The Algerian then sat on top of the girl and attempted to force her into performing oral sex on him, and then strangled her. The girl was only able to escape after another teenager, a young man, intervened and was himself assaulted by the migrant.

 

Police later arrived around 5:50 pm and arrested the 49-year-old, who had been surrounded by witnesses. According to investigators, the suspect has already been convicted of crimes eleven times in the past and had served a sentence for violence resulting in unintentional death after being convicted in 2012.

 

The Algerian also proceeded to attack police during his time in custody, biting two police officers and punching another.

 

The man, said to be a regular cannabis user, claimed while in police custody that he had no memory of the events for which he was arrested but a judicial investigation has begun on counts of rape against a minor under the age of 15 along with rebellion and voluntary violence against police.

 

The case is just the latest within the last year involving a migrant arrested or accused of raping children, such as a case from April of last year in which an African from Ivory Coast was taken into custody in Nogaro for allegedly sexually and physically abusing 28 children, including two infants, over a period of several years.

 

In October, a French father was subjected to a criminal investigation for beating a migrant male he alleged had sexually abused his six-year-old daughter after breaking into their family home.

German Tank Deliveries to Ukraine Leaving ‘Huge Gap’ in Country’s Defences

 

Germany’s decision to send tanks to Ukraine will leave a “huge gap” in the country’s defences, an official from the country has warned.

 

Eva Högl, the German parliament’s Commissioner for the Armed Forces, has warned that her country’s decision to hand over 14 advanced Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine could jeopardise the EU nation’s ability to defend itself.

 

As a result, she has urged that the country’s military are given replacements for the 14 tanks being sent abroad as soon as possible.

 

“The 14 Leopards coming from Panzer Battalion 203 in Augustdorf are creating a huge gap there because they don’t have enough to train and be fully operational themselves,” Die Welt reports Högl as explaining, with the official saying that the €100 billion (~$107 billion) set aside to replace exported equipment must be spent on quickly replacing the vehicles.

 

She went on to add that while those in Germany’s military understood the apparent need to send weapons to Ukraine, the sheer volume of weaponry being exported was endangering their ability to do their job.

 

“In all my visits to the troops, I find that the soldiers feel that there is an urgent need for Ukraine to be supported — with everything that it needs,” she said. “On the other hand, the Bundeswehr is very affected by the fact that a lot of equipment is being handed over.”

 

“We have to keep an eye on our own operational readiness,” she went on to say.

 

Högl’s warning echoes a similar statement made by officials in other countries that have been sending weapons to Ukraine in the hopes of aiding its fight against Russia.

 

In Britain, there are increasing fears regarding the state of the country’s military, with the opposition Labour Party’s shadow defence secretary, John Healey, warning that armaments exports were putting the armed forces at risk if anything donated to Ukraine is not replaced.

 

“Ukraine is depleting our military stockpiles and the Government is acting too slowly to replenish them,” the Labour MP warned, adding that the military could very easily be “left short” if nothing is done.

 

Despite these warnings though, it does not appear that weapons deliveries will calm down anytime soon, with the Zelensky administration continuing to push for increasingly powerful weapons to be sent from the West to Ukraine.

 

On top of the Leopard 2 tanks already promised to Ukraine, for example, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands have now all agreed to send a quantity of older Leopard 1 tanks to the country along with a “spare parts and ammunition package”.

 

Meanwhile, Britain has announced that it will begin training Ukrainian pilots to fly NATO-style Western fighter jets, a declaration that appears to indicate that at least some countries will indeed end up sending the country advanced combat aircraft in the near future.

Entire NJ Town Council, Mayor Switch From Democrats To Republicans

 

A New Jersey town council and the mayor of the town have unanimously decided to switch parties — from Democrat to Republican.

 

The town council of East Hanover, population 11,000, consists of Council President Frank DeMaio, Jr., Councilwoman Carolyn Jandoli and Councilmen Brian Brokaw, Sr. and Michael Martorelli. Along with Mayor Joseph Pannullo — a Democrat who ousted Republican Mayor William Agnellino in 2007 — they will join the Republican Party, the New Jersey Globe reported.

Samuel García Sepúlveda: The WEF’s Man In Mexico

 

Samuel García Sepúlveda, the current Governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo León, recently attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Has he been tapped to be the next President of Mexico?

 

Over the last 3 years, thousands of Americans, Canadians, Australians, and Europeans have come to Mexico, seeking to avoid COVID-19 measures. This is because throughout the COVID panic Mexico was one of a handful of places that did not enact quarantines, travel restrictions, or shot mandates.

 

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was very outspoken over the last 3 years, often speaking out against lockdowns, masks, mandatory shots, and in favor of not living in fear. Mexico City doctors also enacted a (short lived) program of disseminating Ivermectin, before the international Fact Checkers shamed them into stopping. A few Mexican towns even chose to outright reject the COVID-19 shots and refuse to allow them into their communities.

 

Some tourists coming to Mexico also appreciate the fact that many small towns have either overthrown corrupt politicians, or voted to abandon the current government paradigm altogether.

 

Additionally, many of those avoiding COVID measures also look to Mexico as a potential safe haven against the rise of technocracy and digital surveillance. However, as I reported in April 2021, there are, indeed, attempts to bring various technocratic programs to Mexico, including biometrics for cellphone use, and a national ID card, to name a few. As of February 2023, these programs are not in existence, but clearly we can see there are efforts to turn Mexico into an all-pervasive surveillance state, similar to many modern Western nations.

 

With all that said, it is clear that the architects of the Technocratic-Agenda 2030-Great Reset vision have not forgotten Mexico.

Samuel García Sepúlveda: Agent of the WEF?

 

This brings us to Samuel García Sepúlveda, the current Governor of one of Mexico’s northern states, Nuevo León. At only age 35, García Sepúlveda is quickly becoming one of the youngest rising political stars in Mexico.

 

This is why it is not surprising that he was invited to participate in the World Economic Forum’s 2023 gathering in Davos, Switzerland. Although there were other Mexican citizens representing banks and oil companies like PEMEX, García Sepúlveda was the only Mexican politician in attendance at Davos. The invitation of García Sepúlveda should not come as a surprise given that Nuevo León is near the U.S.-Mexico border and is home to Monterrey, the second largest city in Mexico.

 

Following the conclusion of the WEF annual meeting, García Sepúlveda posted several photos on his Facebook page, including a photo of him and the WEF founder, Klaus Schwab.

 

“We had three intense days of work at the World Economic Forum, we had meetings with presidents of Latin American countries, world leaders and first-level entrepreneurs,” Samuel García Sepúlveda wrote. “We show off our state to keep attracting investments, because opportunities don’t come alone, you have to go and look for them. In the #NuevoNuevoLeón we will continue to work to be the first in everything and the economic engine of Mexico.”

 

 

Within days of the conclusion of Davos 2023, Mexican media reported that García Sepúlveda had invited Klaus Schwab to come visit Mexico. Schwab has apparently accepted the invitation.

 

“Many important businessmen from Nuevo León come to Davos, and I invited him (Schwab) and he agreed to go soon,” García Sepúlveda told La Razon.

An internal message sent to Project Veritas employees by the organization’s executive director, Daniel Strack, said that O’Keefe would be taking “a few weeks of well-deserved PTO.” An image of the message was shared by a source familiar with the organization’s internal operations, and its authenticity was confirmed by a current employee. When reached for comment on his personal cell phone, O’Keefe said nothing in response and did not respond to follow-up calls and text messages.

 

Through a Project Veritas spokesman, Strack later released a statement on behalf of the organization. “Like all newsrooms at this stage, the Project Veritas Board of Directors and Management are constantly evaluating what the best path forward is for the organization,” the statement read in part. It did not directly address questions about O’Keefe’s employment status. “There are 65+ employees at Project Veritas dedicated to continuing the mission to expose corruption, dishonesty, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions,” the statement read. “To our supporters: We hear you, we care about you, and we will never give up.”

 

O’Keefe is his organization’s guiding ideological force and onscreen face, but his status as its day-to-day manager has become uncertain amid reports of internal turmoil, and lawsuits from former employees.

 

Strack’s internal message to employees made reference to what he called “a distracting time” and said that a board meeting had been held to discuss “the health of the organization” and that while “we have not come up with final solutions yet we have made a few immediate decisions.” The message said two top Project Veritas executives, including the nonprofit’s chief financial officer, had been “reinstated.”

 

Multiple sources said that the pair had recently been fired by O’Keefe.

 

A meeting of the Project Veritas board is scheduled for Friday, when O’Keefe’s potential removal is set to be discussed. The source said that Project Veritas was currently divided between a group of employees who are perceived to be loyal to O’Keefe, including his communications adviser, R.C. Maxwell, and the board, which has been dissatisfied with what it perceives as O’Keefe’s mismanagement.

 

 

Matthew Tyrmand, a journalist who serves on Project Veritas’ board, said he was about to walk into a meeting and could not talk when reached on his cell phone on Wednesday. When asked specifically if O’Keefe was being ousted, he replied: “I just said I was walking into a meeting and this was not the appropriate time. What don’t you understand about that?” He did not respond to subsequent phone calls.

Another “Conspiracy Theory” Has Been Proven True, And It Brings Us Even Closer To Nuclear War

 

We now know who blew up the Nord Stream pipelines, and it shouldn’t be a surprise to any of us. The corporate media tried very hard to convince us that the Russians were behind the sabotage when it originally happened, but that didn’t make any sense at all. It took 15 years to build the Nord Stream pipelines, and the total cost ultimately surpassed 20 billion dollars. So why would the Russians blow up pipelines that they had invested so much to construct and that were so critical to their own national economy? Sadly, many Americans unquestionably believed the narrative that was being pushed by the Biden administration, but now we have learned that it was the Biden administration that was actually behind the attack.

 

Legendary journalist Seymour Hersh has just published an extremely detailed article entitled “How America Took Out The Nord Stream Pipeline” in which he lays out precisely what happened. If you are not familiar with Hersh, the following is some good background information about him from Wikipedia…

 

Hersh first gained recognition in 1969 for exposing the My Lai Massacre and its cover-up during the Vietnam War, for which he received the 1970 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting. During the 1970s, Hersh covered the Watergate scandal for The New York Times and revealed the clandestine bombing of Cambodia. In 2004, he reported on the U.S. military‘s mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison. He has also won two National Magazine Awards and five George Polk Awards. In 2004, he received the George Orwell Award.[7]

 

As you can see, Hersh is not just another journalist.

 

He was winning awards long before many of you were even born.

 

And he would never go ahead with a story like this unless his source was rock solid.

 

According to Hersh’s source, the plan to blow up the pipelines came from a task force that was originally formed in December 2021…

 

In December of 2021, two months before the first Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine, Jake Sullivan convened a meeting of a newly formed task force—men and women from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the CIA, and the State and Treasury Departments—and asked for recommendations about how to respond to Putin’s impending invasion.

 

Apparently Sullivan made it quite clear that the task force was supposed to “come up with a plan for the destruction of the two Nord Stream pipelines”, and it was also quite clear that Sullivan was “delivering on the desires of the President”…

Rebels leave behind labyrinth of tunnels under Syria’s Ghouta

 

 

Jobar (Syria) (AFP) – Tunnels stretch into the darkness, some wide enough to drive a car through. In Eastern Ghouta, Syrian rebels left behind an underground labyrinth, fitted with hospitals and military headquarters.

 

“This network of tunnels is a real spider’s web,” said a Syrian army official who escorted journalists on a visit Monday to areas of the Damascus suburb recaptured from the rebels.

 

President Bashar al-Assad’s forces have recaptured 95 percent of Eastern Ghouta since launching a blistering air and ground assault six weeks ago on the besieged enclave, imposing evacuation agreements on rebel groups.

 

In the capital’s Jobar district, an entrance to the underground network lies in the basement of a school converted into military headquarters by the Islamist group Faylaq al-Rahman.

 

The tunnels are dug about 15 metres (50 feet) deep. The walls are reinforced with metal rods and the tunnels are equipped with surveillance cameras and lights.

 

Some corridors are wide enough to drive a car through, while others can only be accessed on foot.

 

The network is about five kilometres (three miles) long, connecting Jobar with the rebel-held areas of Ain Tarma and Zamalka.

 

On Saturday, the army took full control of the area following a Russian-brokered evacuation deal which saw thousands of fighters and civilians bussed out of Ghouta.

 

In talks leading up to the deal, Russia, the Syrian government’s strongest ally, demanded that the rebels hand over the plans of the tunnel network.

 

In one underground room, shells arranged by firing range sat in chests marked with the names of Damascus districts.

 

The rebels who once held the area regularly shelled the capital, killing and wounding civilians.

 

“The network of tunnels connected ammunition warehouses under buildings, places difficult to identify for the Syrian air force,” the military official said.

 

The official SANA news agency said the military also found two underground field hospitals, equipped with medical equipment and medicine.

 

With rebel-held Eastern Ghouta under government siege since 2013, tunnels were used to smuggle food, medicine and fuel into the area.

 

In 2017, government troops tightened the siege, destroying many tunnels. Jobar’s network, however, survived.

 

At the exit of the tunnel, not a single civilian was in sight, only soldiers who scanned streets lined with buildings smashed into concrete carcasses and littered with rubble and corrugated metal.

Rail Companies Blocked Safety Rules Before Ohio Derailment

 

Norfolk Southern helped convince government officials to repeal brake rules — and corporate lobbyists watered down hazmat safety regs.

 

Before this weekend’s fiery Norfolk Southern train derailment prompted emergency evacuations in Ohio, the company helped kill a federal safety rule aimed at upgrading the rail industry’s Civil War-era braking systems, according to documents reviewed by The Lever.

 

Though the company’s 150-car train in Ohio reportedly burst into 100-foot flames upon derailing — and was transporting materials that triggered a fireball when they were released and incinerated — it was not being regulated as a “high-hazard flammable train,” federal officials told The Lever.

 

Documents show that when current transportation safety rules were first created, a federal agency sided with industry lobbyists and limited regulations governing the transport of hazardous compounds. The decision effectively exempted many trains hauling dangerous materials — including the one in Ohio — from the “high-hazard” classification and its more stringent safety requirements.

 

Amid the lobbying blitz against stronger transportation safety regulations, Norfolk Southern paid executives millions and spent billions on stock buybacks — all while the company shed thousands of employees despite warnings that understaffing is intensifying safety risks. Norfolk Southern officials also fought off a shareholder initiative that could have required company executives to “assess, review, and mitigate risks of hazardous material transportation.”

 

The sequence of events began a decade ago in the wake of a major uptick in derailments of trains carrying crude oil and hazardous chemicals, including a New Jersey train crash that leaked the same toxic chemical as in Ohio.

 

In response, the Obama administration in 2014 proposed improving safety regulations for trains carrying petroleum and other hazardous materials. However, after industry pressure, the final measure ended up narrowly focused on the transport of crude oil and exempting trains carrying many other combustible materials, including the chemical involved in this weekend’s disaster.

 

Then came 2017: After rail industry donors delivered more than $6 million to GOP campaigns, the Trump administration — backed by rail lobbyists and Senate Republicans — rescinded part of that rule aimed at making better braking systems widespread on the nation’s rails.

 

Specifically, regulators killed provisions requiring rail cars carrying hazardous flammable materials to be equipped with electronic braking systems to stop trains more quickly than conventional air brakes. Norfolk Southern had previously touted the new technology — known as Electronically Controlled Pneumatic (ECP) brakes — for its “potential to reduce train stopping distances by as much as 60 percent over conventional air brake systems.”

 

But the company’s lobby group nonetheless pressed for the rule’s repeal, telling regulators that it would “impose tremendous costs without providing offsetting safety benefits.”

 

That argument won out with Trump officials — and the Biden administration has not moved to reinstate the brake rule or expand the kinds of trains subjected to tougher safety regulations.

Senior Department of Energy (DOE) official Wahleah Johns' spouse is the top executive and co-founder of a green energy firm that specializes in financing solar projects.

 

Johns — who was selected to lead the DOE's Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs in January 2021 — is married to Billy Parish, the CEO of the California-based Mosaic, according to Office of Government Ethics filings reviewed by Fox News Digital. Overall, Parish has more than $1 million in vested stock options of Mosaic and an up to $25 million stake in the firm, the filings showed.

 

Parish co-founded Mosaic more than a decade ago as a crowdfunding startup which has since grown into a solar financing giant that has provided more than $10 billion in funding to residential solar and energy-efficient installations for contractors and consumers.

According to a statement from her chief of staff, Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.) was assaulted at her Washington D.C. apartment building on Thursday morning.

 

The incident, which took place in the building’s elevator around 7:15 a.m., left her with bruises.

 

“Rep. Craig called 9-1-1 and the assailant fled the scene of the assault,” Craig’s Chief of Staff Nick Coe said in the statement. “Rep. Craig is grateful to the DC Metropolitan Police Department for their quick response and asks for privacy at this time.”

"We Want To Be On The Right Side Of History": Ubisoft Partners With Police to Jail Gamers For Their In-Game Speech

 

Ubisoft, the company behind the Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six franchises, has not only partnered with the Anti-Defamation League to fight "hate" in gaming but is also now working with British police to jail gamers for their speech.

 

British state media is reporting on the news as a great new innovation.

Rape jokes, racism, bullying - if you've picked up a controller, or scrolled a mouse, to dabble in some online gaming then you've likely come across plenty.

 

The gaming industry, like others where people interact online, has been trying to figure out how to get to grips with behaviour like this for years.

 

Ubisoft, makers of major franchises like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six, has now signed a first-of-its-kind deal with police to try and tackle the issue for its players.

 

The hope is for this agreement to start a conversation within the industry and see others follow suit.

 

Working with police

 

Online gaming is a joyful experience for millions of people every day.

 

It's a space where friendships are forged and memorable experienced shared. During the pandemic online games were a saviour for many people's mental health. However its dark side is also plain to see. Abusive behaviour, deaths threats and grooming - can be found in online gaming spaces.

 

"We want to be on the right side of history," says Damien Glorieux a senior director of the Newcastle-based Ubisoft Customer Relationship Centre.

 

It's here, and at four other locations around the world, that staff monitor how players of Ubisoft games are getting on - responding to requests for help and actively getting involved with the communities that have evolved around their titles. They deal with everything from purchasing issues to online toxicity.

 

Other companies have similar set-ups, but what's unique here is the involvement of local law enforcement.

 

The deal between the company and Northumbria Police works in two parts.

 

Firstly, it sees specialist officers share their knowledge and expertise on harmful online interactions with the 200-strong team working at the centre in Newcastle, who then apply that training to their daily work.

 

Secondly, an agreement is in place so that in extreme cases, where there is a threat to life or potential serious harm spotted, staff can fast track the information to police.

 

They will then decide whether or not to act.

 

Glorieux explains to BBC News: "We have millions of players, and tens of millions of interactions - so how can we spot incidents?

In one of the debate’s most intense exchanges, Gabbard assailed Sen. Kamala Harris for her record as California’s attorney general, stating people “suffered under your reign as prosecutor.”

 

“I want to bring the conversation back to the broken criminal justice system that is disproportionately negatively affecting black and brown people all across this country today. Sen. Harris has said she’s proud of her record as a prosecutor and she’ll be a prosecutor president, but I’m deeply concerned about this record,” Gabbard said.

 

When Harris defended herself, stating she was “proud” of work within the criminal justice system, Gabbard doubled down.

 

“The bottom line is, Sen. Harris, when you were in a position to make a difference and an impact in these people’s lives, you did not and worse. Yet in the case of those who were on death row, innocent people, you actually blocked evidence from being revealed that would have freed them until you were forced to do so,” she said. “There’s no excuse for that and the people who suffered under your reign as prosecutor, you owe them an apology.”

 

But Gabbard’s debate performance wasn’t just marked by confrontation. She wielded her credentials as an Iraq war veteran to speak about foreign policy decisions in a personal manner, charging the US must “bring our troops home.”

Before his granddaughters, now 4 and 5, were born, he built three apartments on an eastern slope overlooking Jerusalem’s ancient landscape. The 50-year-old construction contractor moved in with his brother, son, divorced daughter and their young kids — 11 people in all, plus a few geese.

 

But Matar was never at ease. At any moment, the Israeli code-enforcement officers could knock on his door and take everything away.

 

That moment came on Jan. 29, days after a Palestinian gunman killed seven people in east Jerusalem, the deadliest attack in the contested capital since 2008. Israel’s new far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called not only for the sealing of the assailant’s family home, but also the immediate demolition of dozens of Palestinian homes built without permits in east Jerusalem, among other punitive steps.

 

Mere hours after Ben-Gvir’s comments, the first bulldozers rumbled into Matar’s neighborhood of Jabal Mukaber.

 

For many Palestinians, the gathering pace of home demolitions is part of the new ultranationalist government’s broader battle for control of east Jerusalem, captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war and claimed by the Palestinians as the capital of a future independent state.

 

The battle is waged with building permits and demolition orders — and it is one the Palestinians feel they cannot win. Israel says it is simply enforcing building regulations.

 

“Our construction is under siege from Israel,” Matar said. His brothers and sons lingered beside the ruins of their home, drinking bitter coffee and receiving visitors as though in mourning. “We try really hard to build, but in vain,” he said.

 

Last month, Israel demolished 39 Palestinian homes, structures and businesses in east Jerusalem, displacing over 50 people, according to the United Nations. That was more than a quarter of the total number of demolitions in 2022. Ben-Gvir posted a photo on Twitter of the bulldozers clawing at Matar’s home.

Donald Rumsfeld has made a killing out of bird flu. The US Defence Secretary has made more than $5m (£2.9m) in capital gains from selling shares in the biotechnology firm that discovered and developed Tamiflu, the drug being bought in massive amounts by Governments to treat a possible human pandemic of the disease.

 

More than 60 countries have so far ordered large stocks of the antiviral medication - the only oral medicine believed to be effective against the deadly H5N1 strain of the disease - to try to protect their people. The United Nations estimates that a pandemic could kill 150 million people worldwide.

 

Britain is about halfway through receiving an order of 14.6 million courses of the drug, which the Government hopes will avert some of the 700,000 deaths that might be expected. Tamiflu does not cure the disease, but if taken soon after symptoms appear it can reduce its severity.

 

The drug was developed by a Californian biotech company, Gilead Sciences. It is now made and sold by the giant chemical company Roche, which pays it a royalty on every tablet sold, currently about a fifth of its price.

 

Mr Rumsfeld was on the board of Gilead from 1988 to 2001, and was its chairman from 1997. He then left to join the Bush administration, but retained a huge shareholding .

 

The firm made a loss in 2003, the year before concern about bird flu started. Then revenues from Tamiflu almost quadrupled, to $44.6m, helping put the company well into the black. Sales almost quadrupled again, to $161.6m last year. During this time the share price trebled.

 

Mr Rumsfeld sold some of his Gilead shares in 2004 reaping - according to the financial disclosure report he is required to make each year - capital gains of more than $5m. The report showed that he still had up to $25m-worth of shares at the end of 2004, and at least one analyst believes his stake has grown well beyond that figure, as the share price has soared. Further details are not likely to become known, however, until Mr Rumsfeld makes his next disclosure in May.

 

The 2005 report showed that, in all, he owned shares worth up to $95.9m, from which he got an income of up to $13m, owned land worth up to $17m, and made $1m from renting it out.

 

He also had illiquid investments worth up to $8.1m, including in partnerships investing in biotechnology, issuing reproductions of paintings, and operating art galleries in New Mexico and Wyoming. He also has life insurance with a surrender value of up to $5m, and received up to $1m from the DHR Foundation, in which he has assets worth up to $25m, and $773,743 from the Donald H Rumsfeld Trust, in which he has assets of up to $50m.

 

Late last week no one at Gilead Sciences was available to comment on Mr Rumsfeld's sale of its stock. In a statement to The Independent on Sunday the Pentagon said: "Secretary Rumsfeld has no relationship with Gilead Sciences, Inc beyond his investments in the company. When he became Secretary of Defence in January 2001, divestiture of his investment in Gilead was not required by the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Office of Government Ethics or the Department of Defence Standards of Conduct Office.

 

"Upon taking office, he recused himself from participating in any particular matter when the matter would directly and predictably affect his financial interest in Gilead Sciences."

 

 

So, Rumsfeld used a phony "bird flu" pandemic to bilk govts out of $5 million for a drug that later was proven to do NOTHING for "bird flu".

Disinformation Inc: Meet the groups hauling in cash to secretly blacklist conservative news

 

Well-funded "disinformation" tracking groups are part of a stealth operation blacklisting and trying to defund conservative media, likely costing the news companies large sums in advertising dollars, a Washington Examiner investigation found.

 

Major ad companies are increasingly seeking guidance from purportedly "nonpartisan" groups claiming to be detecting and fighting online "disinformation." These same "disinformation" monitors are compiling secret website blacklists and feeding them to ad companies, with the aim of defunding and shutting down disfavored speech, according to sources familiar with the situation, public memos, and emails obtained by the Washington Examiner.

 

Brands, which have been seeking to promote products online through multiple websites to expand their digital footprint, are turning to corporate digital ad companies keyed into global markets. In turn, some of these companies are contracting "disinformation" trackers to obtain private information about which websites they should purportedly "defund."

 

The Global Disinformation Index, a British group with two affiliated U.S. nonprofit groups sharing similar board members, is one entity shaping the ad world behind the scenes. GDI's CEO is Clare Melford, former senior vice president for MTV Networks, and its executive director is Daniel Rogers, a tech advisory board member for Human Rights First, a left-leaning nonprofit group that says disinformation fuels "violent extremism and public health crises."

 

"It's devastating," Mike Benz, the State Department's ex-deputy assistant for internal communications and information policy, told the Washington Examiner. "The implementation of ad revenue crushing sentinels like Newsguard, Global Disinformation Index, and the like has completely crippled the potential of alternative news sources to compete on an even economic playing field with approved media outlets like CNN and the New York Times."

“The challenges posed by a global pandemic do not allow a federal agency to exercise power that Congress has not conferred upon it. At the same time, such unprecedented circumstances provide no grounds for limiting the exercise of authorities the agency has long been recognized to have,” the top court wrote in its opinion.

 

Supreme Court Ruling for Requirement Applicable to Health Care Workers

 

In a Jan. 13 decision, the Supreme Court allowed the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to require COVID-19 vaccination for health care workers at Medicare- and Medicaid-certified providers and suppliers.

 

Under the federal health care vaccine requirement, hospitals and other health care facilities must ensure their staff are fully vaccinated or risk losing Medicare and Medicaid funding. The requirement applies to about 10.3 million workers employed by 76,000 health care facilities, including ambulatory surgery centers and nursing homes. The federal requirement was implemented in November 2021.

“These cases are not about the efficacy or importance of COVID–19 vaccines,” Thomas wrote in his dissent. “They are only about whether CMS has the statutory authority to force healthcare workers, by coercing their employers, to undergo a medical procedure they do not want and cannot undo.”

 

“Neither CMS nor the Court articulates a limiting principle for why, after an unexplained and unjustified delay, an agency can regulate first and listen later, and then put more than 10 million healthcare workers to the choice of their jobs or an irreversible medical treatment,” Alito wrote in his own dissent.

Justices clash over OSHA's public health authority

 

The other decision, regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) large employer mandate, came to a 6-3 vote with Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan dissenting.

 

Here, the majority acknowledged the “billions of dollars in unrecoverable compliance causes,” “hundreds of thousands” of jobs at risk of walk-offs, thousands of deaths and “hundreds of thousands” of preventable hospitalizations cited by those for and against the requirement.

 

However, the court said that it is “not our role to weigh such tradeoffs” and instead considered whether Congress had “indisputably” provided OSHA with the power to regulate broad public health.

 

“OSHA has never before imposed such a mandate. Nor has Congress,” the court wrote. “Indeed, although Congress has enacted significant legislation addressing the COVID–19 pandemic, it has declined to enact any measure similar to what OSHA has promulgated here.”

 

In a dissent co-penned by Breyer, Sotomayor and Kagan, the liberal justices said that the court’s decision ignores COVID-19’s spread through person-to-person contact incurred in “nearly all workplace environments.” As such, OSHA acted under its charge in addressing workplace safety by mitigating infection risk, they wrote.
