US Refuses To Release Over 8,000 Hours Of Jan. 6 Security Footage: Court Filing

 

The Biden DOJ is refusing to release over 8,000 hours of US Capitol security footage from January 6, 2001 spanning noon to 8pm, leaving criminal defendants unable to use over 60% of the footage turned over to the FBI, according to a federal court filing.

 

In the June 1 filing, Topeka, KS resident William A. Pope told US District Judge Rudolph Contreras that the DOJ has given Jan. 6 defendants less than 6,000 hours of footage from 650 cameras.

 

Pope is defending himself against eight federal charges following his presence on Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, and has been attempting to obtain said footage and other evidence that could be exculpatory in his case.

 

Pope said that after getting access to U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) closed-circuit television video through a House GOP committee, he discovered some security cameras were missing footage from 2–6 p.m. on Jan. 6.

 

The system held by Congress includes as much as 462,000 hours of security video from more than 1,700 cameras from Dec. 27, 2020, through Jan. 7, 2021, he said.

 

The cameras are located throughout the Capitol Building interior, the Capitol Visitor Center, Senate and House office buildings, Capitol tunnels and subways, on the grounds outside, affixed to building exteriors and along various streets near the Capitol. -Epoch Times

 

In his filing, Pope has asked Contreras to compel the Biden DOJ to provide an inventory of USCP cameras and CCTV footage.

 

"This is an issue because the government has previously withheld highly relevant CCTV cameras from discovery, only to announce later that they had suddenly discovered more cameras in their possession," wrote Pope.

 

The Capitol Police, meanwhile, said via general counsel Thomas DiBiase, that the USCP has turned over "more than 14,000 hours) of CCTV footage to the FBI for the period in question.

 

According to Pope, "If the government does not even know what they have, the government is likely denying hundreds of January 6 defendants important exculpatory evidence," adding "This would be like the government sending an innocent man to death row because they were too lazy to test for the DNA that would exonerate him.

 

"This potential for depriving citizens of their liberties without due process makes it even more crucial for this court to compel the government to inventory all Capitol Police CCTV in their possession, and to produce it in discovery," Pope continued.

 

In a filing opposing Pope's demand, Assistant US Attorney Kelly E. Moran wrote; "It is unclear to the government how disclosing more discovery to criminal defendants than the government was required by law to provide constitutes a potential Brady [exculpatory evidence] violation," adding "The government does not have a ‘full inventory’ of ‘all Capitol Police CCTV they have possessed,’ and the defendant provides no support for his claim that the government should be compelled to create such an inventory."

Jury returns verdict in 'horror' trial of Fr. Pierre de Maillard

 

VENDÉE, France (ChurchMilitant.com) - A priest of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) has been found guilty on all charges involving sex abuse of more than two dozen children.

 

The jury returned its verdict Friday evening against Fr. Pierre de Maillard, charged with four counts of rape and 33 sexual assaults against 27 children over the course of 25 years. The crimes took place in his SSPX assignments in the Vendée and elsewhere.

 

The court agreed with public prosecutor, Emmanuelle Lepissier, in adopting most of her recommendations: Maillard will receive the maximum possible sentence: 20 years behind bars, two-thirds of that time without the possibility of parole.

 

This will be followed by a 10-year probation period that will require that Maillard receive treatment. Failure to follow the rules of probation could result in another five years in prison.

 

Lionel Béthune de Moro, who represented the victims, lauded the "exemplary and long-awaited punishment in view of the extraordinary nature of the multiple criminal acts brought before the Assize Court against a defendant who himself claims to be a paedophile."

All the cases present stark evidence of a shift by organized crime from corrupting union construction locals to aligning with nonunion contractors, including many that employ untrained workers and have lengthy records of on-the-job accidents, including fatalities. They also spotlight the sophisticated manipulation of government programs aimed at promoting the use of women and minority-owned businesses, as well as widespread cheating on workers’ compensation payments in schemes that have left injured employees without insurance protection.

 

Added up, they outline a series of risks — to safety, cost control and adherence to regulation — that mob interest in housing construction could pose to the widely advocated building projects endorsed in principle by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams.

 

“They are getting back into construction, but it is all nonunion,” said Bruce Mouw, a former supervisory special agent for the FBI who helped bring down John Gotti. The mob has less clout on the city’s largest building sites, but it has found other advantages in the nonunion sector. “They can pay half the hourly rate, no fringe benefits, and screw a bunch of guys who often can’t speak English,” Mouw said.

 

In a corruption case filed last month by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, an 82-year-old contractor whose regular visits to the East Harlem clubhouse of the late Genovese kingpin Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno were spotted by the FBI is charged with orchestrating a series of frauds that won him lucrative carpentry contracts on affordable housing projects subsidized by city and state government.

Russian forces shot down Ukraine’s Su-25 strike fighter – media

The downed aircraft was providing air cover for a failed Kiev’s landing operation, RIA Novosti has reported

 

The Russian forces havestopped Kiev’s troops from crossing the Dnieper Riverin the Kherson region and shot downone of the two Su-25strike fighters providingair cover for the Ukrainian landing operation, RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing a source “familiar with the situation.”

 

“Another attempted … landing operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has failed,” the source told the news agency, adding that Kiev’s troops sought to cross the river near the village of Babino, some 124 kilometers away from thestrategic town of Novaya Kakhovka, which had a damon Dnieper that also served as a bridge before being seriously damaged in the Ukrainian strikes.

 

During the clashes near Babino, the Russian troops managed to shoot down a Su-25 strike fighter, the source said, adding that theaircraft fell in the territory controlled by the Ukrainianforces. The second strike fighter then flew away,leaving the landing party without air cover, the source said.

 

Kiev has not commented on these reports. TheUkrainian Defense Ministry mentioned neitherthe failed landing operation nor the presumably downed aircraft in its Monday evening public statement. Instead, it said that the “situation …on the Kherson front has not seen any particular changes.”

 

The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on the situation either. The news came as the Russian troops successfully repelled a major Ukrainian offensive in the southern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic.Kiev’s troops, which deployed six mechanized and two tank battalions there,lost up to 300 service members, 16 tanks, 26 armored and 14 ordinary vehiclesin the botched operation, the ministry said in a statement.

 

Later on Monday, the Russian ministry also published a video of the Ukrainian heavy equipment, supplied by the Western nations, being destroyed by Russian strikes.

Using text mining to build agent based dynamic network models of

information processing organizations, I examine impacts of contested cyber environments on three common focus areas of information assurance confidentiality, integrity, and availability. I find that assessing impacts of cyber attacks is a nuanced affair dependent on the nature of the attack, the nature of the organization and its missions, and the nature of the measurements. For well-manned information processing organizations, many attacks are in the nuisance range and that only multipronged or severe attacks cause meaningful failure. I also find that such organizations can design for resiliency and provide guidelines in how to do so.

A prominent Brevard County, Florida businessman and his wife, a National Rifle Association (NRA) executive committee member, say their daughter and granddaughter were among the four people killed on board a Cessna jet that flew over restricted airspace in Washington, D.C., before crashing in the mountains of Virginia on Sunday.

Barbara Rumpel, who has served on the NRA’s Women’s Leadership Forum, reacted Sunday night in a Facebook post for an NRA event, writing, “My family is gone, my daughter and granddaughter.” On Monday morning, her Facebook page was no longer publicly available.

John Rumpel, who runs the Florida-based company Encore Motors of Melbourne Inc., to which the crashed plane was reportedly registered, told the New York Times that his daughter, 2-year-old granddaughter, her nanny and the pilot were aboard the plane.

He said that they were returning to their home in East Hampton on Long Island after visiting his house in North Carolina.

John Rumpel also lost his daughter, Victoria, at age 19 in a 1994 scuba-diving accident. The couple named the assisted living home Victoria’s Landing in Melbourne, after Victoria, according to the facility’s website.

During a 2004 visit to Brevard, John and Barbara Rumpel caught sight of a tall building perched riverside by the Eau Gallie Causeway. As it happened, the building was for sale, so the couple jumped at the opportunity to own the perfectly situated property.

Instead of using it as just another investment, however, they created an investment in their future, a waterfront, resort-style, assisted living facility where they and their fellow residents could enjoy a carefree, affordable, rewarding lifestyle now and in the future.

The Rumpels, who occupy the 12th-floor penthouse at Victoria Landing, are frequent participants in the many events their facility offers.

The name of the facility honors the memory of the Rumple’s daughter, Victoria, who died at 19 in a scuba diving accident. The couple vowed to remember Victoria’s life by creating a place that joyously celebrates life each and every day.

Robert Hanssen, a former FBI agent who took more than $1.4 million in cash and diamonds to trade secrets with Moscow in one of the most notorious spying cases in American history, died in prison Monday.

Hanssen, 79, was found unresponsive in his cell at a federal prison in Florence, Colorado, and later pronounced dead, prison officials said. He is believed to have died of natural causes, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The person was not authorized to publicly discuss details of Hanssen’s death and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.

He had been serving a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole since 2002, after pleading guilty to 15 counts of espionage and other charges.

Hanssen had divulged a wealth of information about American intelligence-gathering, including extensive detail about how U.S. officials had tapped into Russian spy operations, since at least 1985.

He was believed to have been partly responsible for the deaths of at least three Soviet officers who were working for U.S. intelligence and executed after being exposed.

He got more than $1.4 million in cash, bank funds, diamonds and Rolex watches in exchange for providing highly classified national security information to the Soviet Union and later Russia.

He didn’t adopt an obviously lavish lifestyle, instead living in a modest suburban home in Virginia with his family of six children and driving a Taurus and minivan.

Hanssen would later say he was motivated by money rather than ideology, but a letter written to his Soviet handlers in 1985 explains a large payoff could have caused complications because he could not spend it without setting off warning bells.

Using the alias “Ramon Garcia,” he passed some 6,000 documents and 26 computer disks to his handlers, authorities said. They detailed eavesdropping techniques, helped to confirm the identity of Russian double agents, and spilled other secrets. Officials also believed he tipped off Moscow to a secret tunnel the Americans built under the Soviet Embassy in Washington for eavesdropping.

He went undetected for years, but later investigations found missed red flags. After he became the focus of a hunt for a Russian mole, Hanssen was caught taping a garbage bag full of secrets to the underside of a footbridge in a park in a “dead drop” for Russian handlers.

The story was made into a movie titled “Breach” in 2007, staring Chris Cooper as Hanssen and Ryan Phillippe as a young bureau operative who helps bring him down.

The FBI has been notified of Hanssen’s death, according to the Bureau of Prisons.
