US, UK and Canada sanction former Lebanon central bank chief Riad Salameh

Mr Salameh, who left office on July 31 after three decades in the job, is wanted by France and Germany and reviled by many at home after years of financial meltdown.

The French-Lebanese citizen, 73, is widely viewed as a key culprit in the country's economic crash, which the World Bank has called one of the worst in recent history.

He is under scrutiny in several domestic and international investigations for the alleged embezzlement of $330 million from Lebanon's central bank funnelled into properties across Europe and the UK, where more than $130 million worth of assets associated with him have been frozen.

Mr Salameh has repeatedly denied the allegations and any wrongdoing and defended his legacy at the bank.

On Thursday, three countries took steps against Mr Salameh and his associates.

The US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has placed him on the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List. The US Treasury said that Mr Salameh's “corrupt and unlawful actions have contributed to the breakdown of the rule of law in Lebanon”.

Mr Salameh's former aid, Marianne Hoayek, his son Nady Salameh, his brother Raja Salameh, and his romantic partner Anna Kosakova have also been sanctioned.

“Salameh abused his position of power, likely in violation of Lebanese law, to enrich himself and his associates by funneling hundreds of millions of dollars through layered shell companies to invest in European real estate,” a U.S. Treasury Department statement said.

The statement said the U.S. coordinated the sanctions with the U.K. and Canada and that assets connected to Salameh would be frozen. The U.S. also sanctioned Salameh’s son Nady, brother Raja, close associate Marianne Hoayek and “former partner” Anna Kosakova. The U.K. sanctioned the same list of people except Nady Salameh, and Canada sanctioned only Salameh, his brother and Howayek.

Raja has been accused of supporting his brother’s embezzlement through a brokerage firm he owns called Forry Associates Ltd, which the U.S. Treasury described as a shell company based in the Virgin Islands.

Nady Salameh was sanctioned as “the publicly registered officer” of companies registered in Luxembourg that purchased high-end real estate worth tens of millions of dollars through subsidiary companies in Belgium and Germany.

France-based Ukrainian Kosakova was accused of using funds funneled from Forry to purchase luxury properties in Paris, including apartments in high-end neighborhoods, and an office building on the touristic Champs-Elysées avenue for the central bank as a “continuity of operations” center.

French prosecutors said on Monday they have put a Ukrainian woman linked to the governor of Lebanon's central bank under formal investigation as part of a cross-border probe into alleged fraud to the detriment of the Lebanese state.

Anna Kosakova, with whom central bank governor Riad Salameh has a daughter, according to a birth certificate seen by Reuters, is suspected of aggravated money laundering, a spokesperson at the Paris office of the National Financial Prosecutors said.

The Biden administration asked Congress on Thursday for an additional $21 billion in funding for Ukraine, teeing off a bitter showdown with the GOP-controlled House. The total $40 billion request includes $13 billion in emergency defense aid and wildfire pay and an additional $8 billion for humanitarian support of Ukraine, as well as $12 billion for disaster relief after a season of heat and storms, as well as $4 billion for the border and to combat fentanyl to attract Republicans to the deal. Interesting segment on "GBNews" featuring Dr. Jan Halper-Hayes, but something about this makes me uneasy.

 

She brings up some good points, but there's a few odd narratives she injects into the conversations. I get the feeling she's well meaning, but maybe watching too much Charlie Ward or Derek Johnson clickbait.

 

And I'm seeing some people assume she's some sort of insider, but she's likely not. Highly unlikely a real "insider" would be going on public TV saying these things. Reports of 'Los Pelacaras' or 'The Face Peelers' - said to be seven-foot tall - have been emerging from the small community of Loreto since last week, according to La Republica.

 

"I have found him face to face, he hides his face. I've seen the whole body floating. He moves his arms, everything is normal," said one eyewitness.

 

The witnesses, members of the Ikitu tribe, have been reporting these sightings since July 11.

 

One encounter turned physical when the 'alien' allegedyly set upon a 15-year-old girl, who only narrowly escaped the encounter with her life.

 

"As a result of the struggle, they cut part of her neck," reported local community leader Jairo Reátegui Dávila.

 

Locals also report being unable to sleep out of fear for the next attack, prompting them to set up their own community patrols to keep an eye on the village throughout the night to protect "women, children, and the vulnerable".

From our point of view, people tend to become more loving and more altruistic if they have their own needs met, and more fearful and selfish if they do not have their own needs met. Yes this is a generalization, but to us it is obvious that in general this is true. After all, Pleiadians are on average more loving and more altruistic than Earthlings, because we have our needs met. We are not inherently better than you - biologically we are practically the same species, and as stated our races can even have children together in the normal way.

 

So from our point of view, it is obvious that what is needed on Earth is to help people get their needs met, as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

 

Note that freedom is one of humanity's needs, so we are not advocating for an all-controlling government here. Instead what we think would be one great step is publicly releasing technology that makes people's lives better, such as free energy technology. A proposal for this was outlined in Tunia's message: "Let's Free Earth." Also, the Gray hats already have this technology and they could just release it publicly, today if they chose to do so.

 

However, this is not the path that the Gray hats have chosen. The path they have chosen is that they fight the dark controllers behind the scenes and when possible arrest their Earthling minions. However they are allowing the dark controllers to keep control of the mainstream media and to keep making life harder and harder and harder for average people.

 

The hope that these Gray hats have is that when people suffer enough, they will wake up. However, from our point of view, when people suffer they become less loving and more selfish. This is the opposite of what we and what Source wants. Hence we think that the current strategy is counterproductive.

 

The subconscious shadow of the higher-up Gray hats is also that they like having more power, more knowledge and more money than the average person. Plus in some cases they have a dark past and they understand that if everything were brought to light, their own past would be publicized too. Subconsciously these Gray hats are less eager to move towards this love-based society than awake Earthlings would hope.

 

I do want to be fair to the Gray hats: they are working hard, sometimes they are risking their lives and they have been and are making some progress against the dark controllers.

 

At the same time, they are sitting on a mountain of evidence. They could start public mass arrests tomorrow of the dark controllers today. Or they could publicly publish all their evidence, today, and hence empower the population to hold people accountable.

 

The Gray hats would probably defend themselves by saying that the population needs to wake up and it's the fault of average citizens that this process is taking too long. From our point of view, by making people suffer you only narrow their perspective into a survival mode. If you want to wake people up, make sure their needs are met first.

She’s alive — but there’s still a cloud of controversy and tragedy surrounding 14-year-old influencer Lil Tay, whose reported death rocked the internet this week.

The social media sensation, who amassed millions of followers with expletive-ridden rants and photos of her holding wads of cash before going silent in 2018 — when she was just 9 — was alleged to be dead on Wednesday, according to a statement on her Instagram account.

The post also claimed that her brother Jason Tian, 22, had passed away recently.

“We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock,” the statement read.

Almost immediately, conspiracy theories took rise online as Tay’s alleged ex-manager anonymously told the US Sun that they were skeptical about why the statement hadn’t been signed from anyone in Tay’s family — and the child’s own father refused to confirm or deny the deaths.

On Thursday, the girl also known as Claire Hope and Tay Tian surfaced to say it was all a hoax.

“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken and struggling to even find the right words to say,” Lil Tay told TMZ Thursday via a “statement from her family.”

“It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.”

She went on to claim that her long-stagnant Instagram account had been “compromised” and “used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me…”

But the new statement did little to assuage fears about Lil Tay’s health and safety, especially considering ominous reports over the years detailing a bitter custody battle over her and rumors that she was being abused and exploited by family members.

Equally puzzling was her father’s response to a Post reporter Wednesday.

Christopher Hope, an attorney who lives in Vancouver, just added fuel to the fire when he would not speak about his children’s purported deaths

“Yeah, you have the right person,” Hope told The Post, adding: “Sorry, I can’t really comment or give you any help.”

Deepening the mystery, Rolling Stone reported Thursday that the news coincided with the launch of a Little Tay crypto project apparently overseen by the girl’s manager Harry Tsang.

Furthermore, Tsang told Rolling Stone that he did not believe there had been a hack — and that this could be the work of Tay’s brother.

“The actions of Liltay’s brother, renowned for his propensity for extreme measures, lead me to hypothesize an alternative motive behind this occurrence,” Tsang told Rolling Stone.

“It is conceivable that the intention behind these events could be rooted in an endeavor to illicitly extract funds from devoted supporters and unwitting bystanders.”

The website for LilTay Token was taken down after the girl emerged to say she was alive.

Lil Tay became internet famous in 2018 with videos that showed the child trash-talking and flaunting wads of cash in luxe settings.

Many of Lil Tay’s clips consisted of her appearing to pull up in an expensive car such as a Ferrari or Rolls Royce — complete with a sunglasses-clad dog in the passenger seat.

In one video she kicks in the door of an off-white Rolls, damaging it, while bragging about “dropping 400 racks” on this car and driving it around Beverly Hills without a license.

It’s a theme that runs through her videos.

“This is a message to all y’all broke ass haters, y’all ain’t doin’ it like Lil Tay,” she said in one video showing her flashing a stack of cash and getting into an expensive-looking sportscar.

“This is why all you f–king haters hate me. s–t cost me $200,000. I’m only 9 years old. I ain’t got no license but I still drive this sportscar, b–ch.”

In 2019, New York magazine summed up the absurd Lil Tay lore: “She grew up ‘broke as hell’ in Atlanta but worked really hard ‘moving bricks.’ Eventually she got into Harvard and then dropped out. At one point … she claimed to be “partially black.” Now she lives in ‘the hills’ (which ones? She hasn’t specified).”

In reality, Tay Tian is a little girl who lives in Vancouver.

Her mother has worked as a real estate broker and her father is a lawyer.

It was Jason, the brother, who reportedly created the Lil Tay character and coached his sister on what to say.

In 2018, a reporter for “Good Morning America” interviewed Lil Tay and her mother, Angela Tian, grilling them about Lil Tay’s vulgarity on screen and reports that her family was profiting off her videos.

“No one’s forcing me to do this,” Lil Tay said as her smiling mother sat next to her.

“That’s not true that she [Angela] wants to make money off me.”

She quickly connected with other internet-famous types, including the rapper Bhad Bhabie, made a video with rapper Chief Keef and, according to the New York magazine profile, her family ran through a string of managers and didn’t follow through on a six-figure music deal for Tay.

But Lil Tay, who was said to be home-schooled, stopped posting on her verified Instagram account in June 2018 after just six months, with big names weighing in on her “career.”

Snoop Dogg criticized the child’s use of the n-word but Bow Wow defended her, saying “she was probably just looking at it like a form of entertainment. She was just playing a role.”

Videos showing Tay flashing cash in luxury homes were reportedly shot inside houses listed by her real estate broker mother and at least one of the expensive cars she was seen in reportedly belonged to her mother’s boss.

According to Vice, Angela’s boss stated that she resigned from her job before she could be fired.

By 2021, it appeared that Lil Tay’s life had taken a very sinister turn.

Her brother Jason organized a GoFundMe for his younger sister titled “Save Tay from a Life of Abuse” and outlined a litany of nightmarish accusations.

Hope has previously said of such allegations: “If there is any abuse [of Lil Tay], it didn’t take place at my house or have anything to do with me.”

Jason accused his father and his stepmother Hanee Hope, aka Richanee Alcover, of physically and mentally abusing Tay and trying to gain custody of her just to exploit and hurt her.

The son said Christopher Hope owed Angela Tian thousands in child support for the kids but refused to pay it, and that he gained 50/50 custody of Tay just to reduce his payments.

Jason also accused Hope of bringing women home and having sex with them naked while Tay slept in the same bed.

West can’t defeat Russia – Vucic

 

The Ukraine conflict is now “a war of attrition,” with no easy solution on the horizon, the Serbian president has said

 

All Western efforts to help Ukraine prevail over Russia on the battlefield are in vain, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday, calling on Moscow and Kiev to engage in peace talks.

 

Speaking to Happy TV, Vucic stated that while Western countries are providing Ukraine with massive military assistance, “now it is clear that there is nothing to it,” and an “easy end” to the conflict is nowhere in sight.

 

“A war of attrition is being waged, and with all the strength of the West, Russia will not be defeated on the battlefield,” the Serbian leader opined.

 

Vucic noted that while he is “not sure what Russia has to gain politically,” a truce between Russia and Ukraine would be the best outcome. “I see initiatives coming from some Arab countries, I hope that something will bring us closer to peace,” the president said, adding that a cessation of hostilities would also be in the interests of US President Joe Biden, who is up for reelection in 2024.

 

“The economy would immediately flourish; energy prices would drop dramatically. Everything would be much easier. I think he knows that the key issue in the US election is the economy,” Vucic said.

 

He also stated that the same would be true for Russia and Ukraine, which the president believes are “exhausted,” although he noted that Moscow was holding up under Western sanctions “better than many expected.”

 

In June, the Serbian leader warned of a possible escalation in the Ukraine conflict, saying that Kiev’s much-touted offensive – which Russia claims has failed to gain any ground – could trigger a strong response from Moscow.

 

Vucic’s comments come after a recent Saudi-hosted summit in Jeddah attended by officials from some 40 countries. While the list included Ukraine, some of its Western backers such as the US and the UK, and Moscow’s partners from the BRICS group (Brazil, India, China and South Africa), Russia itself was not invited. Moscow has argued that without its participation, any peace talks are pointless.

 

While the summit did not end with an official communique, the Wall Street Journal reported that Ukraine refrained from pushing its peace formula requiring the withdrawal of Russian troops from all territory Kiev claims as its own. Ukraine, however, denied that it had given up on its plan, which rejects any compromise on the ground with Moscow.

FBI agents reportedly killed Craig Deleeuw Robertson Wednesday morning while attempting to take him into custody and search his home following allegations that he threatened government officials, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and President Joe Biden. Bragg secured a grand jury indictment against Trump in March in a case centered around a $130,000 payout to porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges during his Aug. 3 arraignment after special counsel Jack Smith secured a four-count indictment of Trump relating to his efforts to contest the results of the 2020 election. Smith previously secured a 37-count indictment against Trump in June based on an investigation into allegations surrounding classified documents.

 

“And let’s be clear, President Trump’s own rhetoric targeting these people, showing his supporters who he dislikes, airing out his own grievances, that has an encouraging impact on people who are prone to violence,” McCabe continued. “It’s reckless to engage in that sort of speech, but that’s what former President Trump does.”

 

McCabe was fired as deputy director of the FBI in 2018 following an inspector general’s report that accused him of lying about leaks to the media, but the firing was reversed in 2021 following a legal settlement in which he received his pension.

Air defenses down drone over Moscow – mayor

Air defenses downed a UAV over Moscow on Friday, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has said. Russia’s defense ministry blamed Ukraine for the foiled attack.

 

In a post on his Telegram channel, Sobyanin wrote that the drone had “been destroyed as a result of the air defenses’ work.” The official added that the falling debris had not led to casualties or any considerable damage on the ground, with emergency services working at the site.

 

The country’s defense ministry said in a statement that an “attempted drone terrorist attack by the Kiev regime” on an unnamed facility in Moscow had been thwarted.

 

Military officials revealed that the UAV had been downed by electronic warfare means and crashed in a wooded area in Western Moscow.

 

Several media outlets reported on Friday, citing witnesses, that a drone crashed near a hydroelectric plant in the western part of the capital.

Explosions reported in Kiev after air raid alert

 

The Ukrainian military says the capital has come under attack by Kinzhal hypersonic missiles

 

The Russian Air Force has launched a missile attack on Kiev, Ukrainian defense officials have said, amid reports of several powerful explosions in the capital. The Russian Defense Ministry has yet to comment on the alleged strikes.

 

On Friday morning at around 9:50am local time, the Ukrainian Air Force issued an air raid alert over the entire country, and a few minutes later, it stated that it had registered “launches of Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K in the direction of Kiev Region.”

 

Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said there had been several explosions in the city, while the local authorities claimed that the air defenses were working. Later, Klitschko added that there had been no injuries or damage.

 

Following reports of missile attacks, the Ukrainian Air Force issued specific alerts for the western Chernovitskaya and Ivano-Frankovsk Regions, and Zhytomyr, Vinnitsa, and Khmelnitsky Regions in the central part of the country. The authorities in the latter area also reported several blasts, without giving further details.

 

Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched missiles can travel more than 2,000km and have high maneuverability, allowing them to evade air defense systems.

Moscow airport briefly closed due to drone alert

 

Air traffic at Vnukovo International has been disrupted in recent weeks by Ukrainian UAV attacks on the Russian capital

 

Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport, located just southwest of the Russian capital, was closed for an hour overnight, TASS news agency reported on Friday morning, citing emergency services.

 

According to information from the Telegram channel 112, air traffic was halted due to a drone alert. Several flights, scheduled to land at Vnukovo, were diverted to the nearby Domodedovo airport.

 

Air traffic at Vnukovo has been disrupted of late in connection with the early detection of Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow. The latest attempted attack was reported by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and the Russian Defense Ministry.

 

Air defense systems were activated at around 4am local time, Sobyanin wrote on Telegram. One drone was intercepted over Kaluga Region, southwest of the capital, and the other was shot down in the vicinity of the Central Ring Road, which separates Moscow city from the eponymous region.

 

Meanwhile, several media outlets have reported, citing witnesses, that a UAV crashed near a hydroelectric plant in the western part of the capital.

 

A video shared by Baza Telegram channel shows white smoke rising from the spot where the drone reportedly fell.

Stores typically jack up the price artificially, most farmers do not. Costs me around $1, 400 total to buy bulk half cow processed and delivered to my door. That's two year supply for two people, one years supply for a family of four.

Ukraine bans Christian monks from their monastery

 

A court has ruled in favor of evicting the clergy from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, claimed by the state

 

A court on Thursday ruled against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, giving the green light to the government to begin forcibly evicting monks from the historic monastery in the heart of Kiev.

 

“We are listening to a short text of one of the most shameful decisions in the history of modern Ukraine!” Nikita Chekman, an attorney representing the UOC, said on his Telegram channel.

 

According to Chekman, the state court has upheld the motion by the national historic preserve to “remove obstacles to the use of property” by evicting the monks. On Wednesday, the same court ruled that the government had every right to terminate the lease with the UOC.

 

Chekman said that the court committed several procedural violations, such as not giving a hearing to the monks living at the Lavra and violating their constitutional right to housing. He believes that the ruling came under pressure from the government, and said he would file an appeal.

 

Founded in 1051, the Pechersk Lavra (‘Monastery of the Caves’) is considered the most prominent Orthodox Christian site in Ukraine. Officially, it is the property of the Ukrainian state, but the UOC has administered it under the terms of an agreement signed in 2013.

 

In March, President Vladimir Zelensky’s government announced that the UOC had “violated” the terms of the deal and ordered them to leave the Lavra. Zelensky called the eviction “a move to strengthen our spiritual independence” and accused the UOC of being a tool of Russia.

 

Meanwhile, Kiev has granted the use of several churches on the premises to the ‘Orthodox Church of Ukraine’ (OCU), created by the government in 2018. Culture Minister Aleksandr Tkachenko said in March that any monks who defected to the OCU could stay at the monastery.

 

In June, the historic preserve announced an OCU service honoring Ivan Mazepa, a cossack leader who fought on the Swedish side in the fateful Battle of Poltava in 1709, and was excommunicated as a traitor.

 

So far, about a third of Ukraine’s regions have moved to outright ban the UOC in favor of the OCU. Russia has accused Ukraine of persecuting the canonical Orthodox church and the US for tacitly approving Kiev’s actions.
