Forgotten man

 

The forgotten man is a political concept in the United States centered around those whose interests have been neglected. The first main invocation of this concept came from William Graham Sumner in an 1883 lecture in Brooklyn[1] entitled The Forgotten Man (published posthumously in 1918)[2] who articulated such a man to be one who has been compelled to pay for reformist programs. In 1932, President Franklin Roosevelt appropriated the phrase in a speech, using it to refer to those at the bottom of the economic scale whom Roosevelt believed the state needed to help.[3]

Influential former Texas US Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson dies at 88

 

DALLAS, Texas (AP) — Trailblazing longtime U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, a nurse from Texas who helped bring hundreds of millions of federal dollars to the Dallas area as the region’s most powerful Democrat, died Sunday. She was 88.

 

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and many other leaders issued statements about her death after her son posted about it on Facebook. The Dallas Morning News also confirmed her death with an unnamed source close to the family. No cause of death was given.

 

“She was the single most effective legislator Dallas has ever had,” the mayor said in a statement. “Nobody brought more federal infrastructure money home to our city. Nobody fought harder for our communities and our residents’ interests and safety. And nobody knew how to navigate Washington better for the people of Dallas.”

Trump warns of new ‘Great Depression’

America’s economy will be wiped out if Joe Biden stays in power, the former president claimed

 

Former US President Donald Trump has warned that the national economy will completely collapse if he does not return to the White House next year. He described the grim scenario in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday.

 

“The stock market is only high because people… expect me to win the presidential election of 2024,” Trump wrote in all caps. “If I don’t win, it is my prediction that we will have a stock market “crash” worse than that of 1929 – a Great Depression!!!”

 

“The only thing that is keeping the economy ‘alive’ is the fumes of what we accomplished during the Trump administration,” he stated. He added that, under President Joe Biden’s watch, high inflation has “totally destroyed the buying power of the consumer.”

 

Trump argued that the Biden administration’s official inflation statistics, which show prices haverisen by about 17%since his inauguration in 2021, were underestimating the real figure by nearly half, referencing an older method of measuring the phenomenon that placed it over 30%. Inflation surged to a 40-year high under Biden, though it has since declined.

 

The 1929 stock market crash kicked off an economic death spiral that saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average lose 89% of its value over three years, a slump it would not fully recover from until two decades later after World War II helped boost the recovery of the US economy. The crash was triggered by several factors, including rampant speculation and Federal Reserve rate hikes.

 

Biden’s approval rating among prospective voters has plumbed new depths over the last month. A recent Monmouth University poll found just 34% of voters viewed his performance favorably.

 

Despite the insistence of the White House that the nation’s finances are robust and healthy,credit card debt among US consumers hit a historic high last month, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and JP Morgan analysts revealed earlier this month that any extra savings Americans had accumulated during the Covid-19 pandemic had been wiped out for all but 1% of the population.

 

A survey conductedin May found nearly four in ten Americans lacked enough money to cover a $400 emergency expense. At the same time, the S&P 500 is approaching an all-time high, and the Dow Jones recently broke its own record.

There is a grey truck that follows my wife to her bus stop at a shopping center and although there are many places to park before the stores are open on a Sunday before church, seems to always situate themselves with their tail lights facing her causing her to feel radiation from the specialized lights. Today they waited for her at a cross intersection and would not move causing traffic behind them the blow their horns and speed around then for two light changes. Ukraine fires ‘massive barrage’ at Donetsk – officials

At least three people were killed in the Donbass city during the first shelling of 2024, a top local official said

Ukrainian troops have shelled the Russian city of Donetsk, killing at least four people and injuring 13 others, local authorities announced in the early hours of Monday.

 

The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, urged citizens to seek shelter.

 

Emergency officials, meanwhile, told news agency TASS that a journalist had been killed and another injured, without naming them.

 

Casualties were reported after the city center was hit by “a massive barrage,” officials said. They added that one of the main hotels in Donetsk – the Donbass Palace – was struck. A school, an office building, a shop and several residential buildings were also damaged.

 

Pushilin released a statementaround 1 am local time, saying thatUkraine had used multiple rocket launchers. “I urge everyone to stay in shelters,” he wrote on Telegram. “The shelling can resume at any moment.”

 

A local resident told news agency RIA Novosti that the attack began shortly after midnight on New Year's eve. “I went to the balcony for a smoke, and heard a loud bang. I thought at first that it was fireworks,” he said.

 

Unverified videos posted to social media show several explosions.

 

Other videos show damaged apartment blocks and burning vehicles.

 

Donetsk frequently comes under rocket attacks due to its proximity to the frontline. The most recent shelling occurred after Ukraine fired missiles at the Russian border city of Belgorod on Saturday, killing 24 people and wounding 109.

 

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev used cluster munition to carry out a “premeditated act of terrorism” against civilians. Moscow requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on Saturday. In his speech at the UN, Russian envoy Vassily Nebenzia stated that US and British “consultants” helped Ukraine to plan the strikes on Belgorod. ’

 

On Sunday, Russian MOD announced retaliatory missile strikes on several targets in Ukraine, including a former hotel in Kharkov that it claimed housed senior military planners “directly involved” in the shelling of Belgorod. Ukrainian officials reported that the raid on Kharkov left 28 civilians wounded.

Zelensky personally ordered bombing attack on civilians – RT source

The strike on the Russian city of Belgorod was launched by the nationalist Kraken battalion, a security source has claimed

 

A massive rocket strike targeting the Russian border city of Belgorod on Saturday was launched on the direct order of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, aMoscow security source has told RT’s Russian-language service. The attack claimed the lives of 24 people and left more than 100 injured.

 

According to the source, the Ukrainian leader put the head of Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR), Kirill Budanov, in charge of the operation. In October, Russia’s Investigative Committeeidentified Budanov as one of four suspected masterminds of over 100 “terrorist attacks”targeting Russian civilian infrastructure. In December, a Moscow district court ordered his arrest on terrorism charges.

 

Budanov has openly advocated Ukrainian attacks on Russian soil, including territory that Kiev recognizes as being under Moscow’s sovereignty. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) identified Budanov as the mastermind of the October 2022 bombing of the Crimean Bridge, which involved a powerful explosive device smuggled into Russia by an unsuspecting truck driver.

 

Saturday’s attack on Belgorod waslaunched by the notorious Kraken Regiment, the source told RT. The unit is composed primarily of veterans of another infamous Ukrainian ultranationalist force,the Azov Regiment, andother neo-Nazifighters and volunteers.

 

Based in the Ukrainian city of Kharkov, located less than 100 kilometers away from Belgorod, the Kraken Regiment is formally a Special Forces unit under the command of the GUR and is thus answerable to Budanov. The Russian authorities have previously accused Kraken fighters of torturing and killing Russian POWs. Russia’s Defense Ministry also claimed in 2022 thatKraken forces had executed around 100 fellow Ukrainian soldierswho had abandoned their positions at the time.

 

The attack on Belgorod was led by a notorious ultranationalist Kraken commander identified as Sergey Velichko, according to the RT source.Moscow placed a bounty on Velichko in August 2022. At the time, the Russian Interior Ministry offered a reward for any information about him and another nationalist commander, Kostantin Nemichev.

 

Both men had previously served with the neo-Nazi Azov Regiment, which was declared a terrorist organization by Russia’s Supreme Court in June 2022. They were also put on the international wanted list, as well as Russia’s ‘ten especially dangerous wanted criminals’ list. The fighters have since joined the Kraken Regiment.

 

On Sunday, the Russian military conducted a string of high-precision missile strikes targeting Ukrainian military facilities and officials in response to the attack on Belgorod. Decision-making centers and other military targets in Kharkov were targeted, it added. The Russian strikes reportedly managed to eliminate some of the Ukrainian intelligence and military officials involved in the planning of Saturday’s attack on Belgorod, the Defense Ministry said. Some fighters with the Kraken Regiment were also killed, the officials added.

 

According to the RT source,Velichko was initially presumed to have been killed in the counterstrike, but this has not been confirmed.

New City, NY: "A family of four was found dead in a Rockland County home early Saturday in what police believe to be a triple murder-suicide. The four people were found in the home at 10 Clydesdale Court in New City around 12:20 a.m. while authorities responded to the address for a welfare check, according to the Clarkstown Police Department. "Users of social media platforms might want to be careful what is posted moving forward, as law enforcement officials may be watching. The FBI has invested millions of dollars into social media tracking software, according to a report from the Washington Post. The article details that the law enforcement agency has invested up to $27 million in software that monitors platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, the Dark Web, VK and Telegram.

 

The software licensed by the FBI is called Babel X, which allows users of the application to search social media sites within geographic and other adjustable parameters. The contract between the FBI and Babel allows for 5,000 licenses of the software at a value of $5 million with the option to increase to up to $27 million. The new contract between the law enforcement agency and the software company is the most expensive agreement contract for software by a civilian agency ever."

China-Taiwan 'reunification' is inevitable, says Xi

 

"The motherland will surely be reunified," Xi Jinping said in his New Year's speech. He also pledged more investment in new industries to boost China's growth.

 

Chinese President Xi Jinping said Sunday that his country would "surely be reunified" with Taiwan during his New Year's address.

 

His comments are likely to further inflame tensions with Taiwan, which Beijing sees as Chinese province. The self-ruled island is set to hold presidential elections on January 13.

 

What did Xi Jinping say about Taiwan?

"The motherland will surely be reunified," Xi said in his televised speech to the nation.

 

"Compatriots on both sides of the (Taiwan) Strait should be bound by a common sense of purpose to share in the glory of national rejuvenation," he added

 

His comments could be seen as a signal that Beijing will continue to pressure Taiwan politically and militarily. Xi has previously said China was prepared to retake Taiwan by force if necessary and in recent months, Chinese warships and military aircraft have been deployed in the island's vicinity.

 

Ties with China are also one of the key issues of the presidential campaign in Taiwan. The race is currently led by the island's vice-president William Lai.

 

China views Lai, from the ruling Democratic People's Party, as a "separatist" and has accused him and Taiwan's outgoing President Tsai Ing-wen of trying to provoke a Chinese attack on the island.

 

Taiwanese leaders have repeatedly accused China of election interference and misinformation. In turn, Beijing dismissed their claims as "hype."

 

Xi promises strong growth in 2024

During Xi's speech, the Chinese president also pledged to improve the Chinese economy, saying business conditions had grown "more resilient and dynamic" in 2023. The leader struck a positive tone, despite data showing that the post-COVID recovery has stalled. Record youth unemployment and a persistent debt crisis in the crucial property sector have stymied the economic rebound.

 

But Xi said the economy had "weathered the storm" of the pandemic and hailed the promotion of "high-quality development" and emerging industries such as electric vehicles, lithium batteries and solar panels.

 

At the same time, he noted that not everyone was benefiting as "some companies are facing operating pressure (and) some people are encountering difficulties in employment and living conditions."

 

"All of these things concern me greatly," he told the Chinese public. "Our goal is both ambitious and yet very simple. In the end, it is to help people live better lives."

 

China's 2023 gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to come in at around 5%, far lower than in the boom years of the 2010s, Beijing has forecast similar growth for next year.

 

The Chinese president said that, in 2024, "we must… consolidate and enhance the positive trend of economic recovery, and achieve long-term economic development."

 

Earlier this month, top Chinese leaders laid out economic plans for 2024, pledging to take more steps to stimulate growth in the world's second-largest economy.

Neo-fascism must be destroyed in 2024 – Medvedev

Russia should not allow a resurgence of the ideology that led to WWII, the former president has said

 

Defeating neo-fascism once and for all should be Russia’s “main goal” in the coming year, former President Dmitry Medvedev said in his New Year’s address on Sunday. The Russian people have already demonstrated unparalleled “strength of mind, will to victory and selflessness” in the outgoing year, he added.

 

The nation’s “hearts and minds” go out to the soldiers on the front lines, Medvedev said, expressing his sincere gratitude to “everyone who defends our great motherland.”This year required “particular resilience and cohesion, determination and power,” as well as “true patriotism” from the Russian people, he added.

 

The coming year should witness the “ultimate defeat” of neo-fascism, an ideology “Russia’s enemies are trying to rekindle” decades after it was dealt a powerful blow during World War II, the former president said.

 

Russia is now locked in a protracted conflict with Ukraine, which it accuses of promoting ultranationalist ideology and persecuting its Russian-speaking minority. This year saw Russian forces thwart Kiev’s major counteroffensive. The six-month-long operation launched in early June ended in failure with heavy losses on the Ukrainian side.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin also hailed the feats of Russian soldiers in his New Year’s address and called them “heroes.” The president also said the country had been “steadfast in defending our national interests, our freedom and security, [and] our values that have always been and remain our unshakeable pillar.”

 

Medvedev, who now serves as the deputy head of Russia’s National Security Council and the Military-Industrial Committee, has repeatedly condemned what he called open glorification of Nazism in Ukraine and particularly pointed to an initiative calling for the establishment of the Stepan Bandera Order, which would supposedly be awarded to Ukrainian servicemen. Bandera was a notorious leader of Ukrainian nationalists during World War II whose organization was responsible for mass killings of Jews and Poles in Ukraine.

 

The former Russian president has also sharply criticized Kiev’s Western backers, calling them a “pro-Nazi coalition” in September. He also insisted Moscow should take a tougher approach to Kiev. On Thursday, he stated that the removal of the Western-backed government of President Vladimir Zelensky is an undeclared but a “most important and inevitable goal” of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.

 

Moscow’s goals also include “the disarmament of Ukrainian troops and the rejection of the ideology of neo-Nazismby the current Ukrainian state,” he added at that time.

USS Ford Carrier Group Scheduled To Go Home

By Max Zimmerman (Bloomberg) The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group will leave the eastern Mediterranean Sea more than two months after being sent to the region following Hamas’ attack on Israel in October, ABC News reported.

 

The carrier and other surface ships that form the strike group will head back to their home port of Norfolk, Virginia, in the “coming days” as originally scheduled, a senior US official and a US official told the outlet. The carrier group is returning to the US to prepare for future deployments.

 

The US will still have military capability in the region and flexibility to deploy additional cruisers and destroyers in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, the senior US official told ABC.

 

A Defense Department spokesman told ABC that they had nothing to announce today.

 

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin directed the naval group to the region the day after Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7. The carrier was sent to the region to bolster regional deterrence, Austin said at the time, in an effort to prevent the conflict from widening into a wider regional one.

Ford advocates are certainly happy. The October 7 attack on Israel transformed the nature of USS Gerald R. Ford’s first “real” deployment, pushing the carrier into the limelight. Engaged in a relatively sedate, port-call-heavy passage into the Western Mediterranean, the carrier shifted into crisis mode, abruptly canceling two port calls in Southern France and roaring east, where it has been enhancing U.S. command-and-control and situational awareness ever since.

 

The platform has been valuable enough that the Pentagon extended the Ford’s deployment twice since the initial attacks. As the ship, in its longest uninterrupted stint at sea yet, still orbits on the fringe of open conflict, Pentagon leaders may try and squeeze a few extra months out of what the Ford-class carrier Program Manager, Captain Brian Metcalf, previously described as an “at least six-month deployment.”

I don't know. I have been out of that world since I was 9 or 10. Everything I know comes from before that time. The main focus for my handlers was developing in me the skills and attributes I would need to carry out their bidding. It was their original intention that I should die at the age 7, but I survived the attempt.

I was in a housefire.

I knew the house well and had been given a set of instructions which were to be activated by a keyphrase.

Once I heard the key phrase I went through the house room by room closing and looking the doors and windows as well as collecting the housekeys.

I threw the keys from the top of the building to a man waiting below. He lit the fire. I knew what he was going to do. I consented to it.

If I face legal repercussions after publishing this story it is blatant retaliation on behalf of the Government for exposing this.

 

I am in good health and love my life and would never do anything to hurt myself or others.

 

I am looking into potential legal actions I can take as this is completely unacceptable.

 

Thousands of average Americans are on this same list. Instead of stopping actual terrorism the Government is stalking people who they deem to be ‘dangerous’ and paying for it with YOUR tax dollars.

 

I was followed and harassed for two years— not just in the airport but in my personal life as well.

 

Of course, BLM and ANTIFA rioters never received this kind of treatment and instead are allowed to fly without being stalked by the Federal Government. This is all completely one sided and is clearly motivated by political leanings.

 

There needs to be a serious congressional investigation into the way @DHSgov is handling the Quiet Skies program and what other Government entities they’re colluding with to label Americans (AND REPORTERS!) Domestic Terrorists.

Yes. I am.

I did not. I accused others of lighting the fire and they were wrongfully imprisoned -as juveniles.

I have since changed my statement but nothing happened. There was about 30 years between events, but still. I find the fact that nothing has changed absolutely terrifying.

I do have nightmares. Not as many as I used to. But I would wake from my sleep every night sweating, crying and trembling. THat is until I started smoking weed. Now I basically can't sleep without it. I am haunted by those deaths and I believe I will be forever and I think that's perfectly fair.
