Looks like certs are done with these two as they’ve been on test/cert flights out of Robbins since late March-think Wi-Fi in the sky.

 

One of these was at MCAS Miramar for several months last year and early this year (seen’t it with muh own eyes). They are operated by USAF’s 430th Expeditionary Electronic Communications Squadron based at Robbins AFB. One of these crashed in Afghaniland in late January 2020.

The E-11A aircraft is a modified Bombardier Global Express 6000/BD700-1A10 business jet used by the US Air Force (USAF) to support battlefield communications for forward-deployed forces. Apollo is front-runner on deal after it outshines KKR and Stonepeak, the WSJ report says

Intel Corp’s stock rose 1.1% in premarket trading on Monday after The Wall Street Journal reported it was in talks with Apollo Global Management Inc. to line up $11 billion to construct a new chip plant in Ireland.

 

The deal with Intel INTC, 3.76% could be finalized within weeks after Apollo outpaced rival firms such as Stonepeak and KKR & Co Inc. KKR, -0.57% for the deal, the report said.

 

Apollo’s High Grade Capital Solutions unit is leading the deal for Apollo.

 

The new plant is part of Intel’s plan to meet increased chip demand.

 

The potential deal with Apollo comes after Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. BAM, 0.63% inked a $30 billion deal with Intel in 2022 for a chip-making plant in Chandler, Ariz. Intel was to have a controlling stake in the Arizona plant.

 

Prior to Monday’s trades, Intel’s stock was down 40.6% in 2024, compared to an 8.9% gain by the Nasdaq NDAQ, 0.86%.

 

This is important b/c it is part of MEGA (Make Europe Great Again), a subset of MAGA. For reference, Amazon Web & Microsoft announced investments in France of $1B & 4B respectively this past week. Intel has already been awarded $8.5B for domestic production efforts

Embattled Democratic Senator Bob Menendez Goes on Trial Today in Connection with Bribery and Corruption Charges

The curtain rises on another chapter of legal troubles for corrupt Democrat Senator Bob Menendez (NJ) as jury selection commences Monday in a Manhattan federal court.

The 70-year-old Democratic Senator stands accused of receiving bribes in the form of gold and substantial sums of money, in exchange for wielding his political influence to benefit three New Jersey businessmen.

Menendez, along with two of the businessmen implicated, real estate mogul Fred Daibes and Wael Hana, maintain their innocence in the face of the charges. A third businessman entangled in the accusations has entered a guilty plea and is slated to appear as a witness against his former co-defendants.

In a related case, Nadine Menendez, the senator’s wife, faces similar charges; however, her trial has been deferred to July due to health issues, according to ABC News.

This recent trial is a complex matter that includes multiple gold bars, cash-filled envelopes, a Mercedes, among other items, which, according to prosecutors, were received by Bob Menendez and his wife, Nadine Menendez. They allegedly accepted these gifts in return for supporting a halal meat monopoly, favoring individuals from Egypt and Qatar, and attempting to interfere with a legal case in New Jersey.

Cohen. Cohen also made statements to the Oversight Committee that were contradicted by witnesses with firsthand knowledge of the subject matter. In particular, Cohen lied at least six times:

 

  1. Cohen denied committing various fraudulent acts to which he had pleaded guilty in federal court.

Cohen repeatedly testified that he did not seek employment in President Trump's White House, despite evidence from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York demonstrating that 'Cohen privately told friends . . . that he expected to be given a prominent role and title in the new administration.'

 

  1. Cohen stated that he did not direct the creation of a Twitter account known as WomenForCohen, which is contradicted by statements from the owner of the IT firm that created the account for Cohen.

 

  1. Cohen attested in his Truth in Testimony form that he did not have any reportable foreign government contracts, despite entering into two contracts in 2017 with entities owned in part by foreign governments.

 

  1. Cohen's testimony at the hearing contradicted various aspects of his written statement submitted in advance of the hearing.

Oil prices climb as traders weigh prospects for extension of OPEC+ output cut

Oil futures climbed in Monday dealings as traders weighed signs of soft fuel demand against expectations that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies will extend production cuts into the second half of the year.

 

Price moves

  • West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery CL.1, 1.37% CLM24, 1.37% rose 96 cents, or 1.2%, to $79.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. July WTI CL00, 1.38% CLN24, 1.28%, the most actively traded contract, rose 88 cents, or 1.1%, to $78.72 a barrel.

  • July Brent crude BRN00, 1.05%, the global benchmark, climbed 73 cents, or 0.9%, to $83.52 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe after posting a loss of 0.2% for last week.

  • June gasoline RBM24, 1.10% tacked on 1.1% to $2.5277 a gallon, while June heating oil HOM24, 1.15% added 0.9% to $2.4569 a gallon.

  • Natural gas for June delivery NGM24, 1.95% traded at $2.29 per million British thermal units, up 1.8%.

 

Traders on Monday were dealing with some confusion over the fate of OPEC+ production cuts, which have helped to keep a lid on crude prices, commodity analysts at ING said in a note. Iraq’s oil minister on Sunday told the state news agency that the country is committed to production cuts by OPEC+, made up of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, and is working with other members to stabilize the market, news reports said. The remarks, however, came a day after he indicated Iraq wouldn’t entertain further cuts. “Iraq is [now] the third country to hint that they are not necessarily willing to simply roll [the OPEC+] voluntary output quotas totaling 2.2 million barrels at the June 1 meeting,” Robert Yawger, director of energy futures at Mizuho Securities USA, wrote in daily commentary. The United Arab Emirates and Russia have also hinted that they are unhappy with cuts, he said.  Yawger said that he believes “lifting the voluntary cuts runs a strong risk of cratering crude oil prices.”  

 

OPEC+ ministers are due to meet June 1. A round of voluntary production cuts is set to expire at the end of next month.

JUST IN: Michael Cohen has just implicated himself, and not Donald Trump, during his latest line of questioning. While being questioned about his communication with National Enquirer boss David Pecker he says “depending on the conversation we figured it’d be best to remain confidential.”

 

This is why Cohen and Pecker used the app “signal.” They apparently decided this themselves and Trump had nothing to do with that. It’s obvious Cohen made a lot of decision on his own and now wants to blame Trump.

Apparently no one seems to understand the law in this country including cops. When the old man asked if he was under arrest and the cops said no, but wait until I do my investigation then he put the man under arrest by detaining him without probably cause. When the old man refused and went to go about his way, the officer grab him, which he does not have the right to do and that is actually considered "assault with a deadly weapon" as the cop is carrying a deadly weapon. After the slight resist, he then used excessive force and body slammed him to the ground at which point it is considered by law "battery and attempted murder" due to the man's age and the likelihood of killing him due to the nature of the hard surface where he threw him. By law, once he was grabbed by the police officer without being charged with a crime, the old man in fact had the right to meet deadly force, in this case "assault with a deadly weapon" with deadly force. By throwing him to the ground the cop elevated the charge to "battery and attempted murder". This is the law and because cops are on commission to incite violence they instigate situations in order to get collars. I am sure if it was a antifa or BLM rioter they would have took a knee. Cops are the ones that have really destroyed this country and our trust in them because they act like the IDF dealing with Palestinians. The cop should not have detained him and waited till his investigation was done at the least then go pursue him, how far was he going to get on a flat tire? Not like the cop had to walk either. But the truth is, he did not have the right to investigate him because he did not commit a crime in the first place and no one claimed the man did anything wrong. They practice maritime law and not common law which is the law of the land. Let these cops know, the Queen is dead and all contracts are void and null, we freed America from that already.

We present the case of a female who developed cerebral venous thrombosis with thrombocytopenia after inoculation with the anti-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Vaxzevria vaccine, followed by splanchnic thrombosis and diffuse hemorrhages. Despite receiving treatment, the complications increased, and hence therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) was attempted, leading to laboratory and clinical improvements and discharge after a period of intensive care. Almost two years after the first episode, in the interim of which the patient complained of only minor symptoms such as asthenia and difficulty concentrating, she developed an epileptic syndrome that required neurological treatment. In addition, her fatigue and difficulty concentrating worsened and other serious symptoms of dysautonomia appeared, such as trembling of her right arm, loss of stability, and postural orthostatic tachycardia. As serum analysis revealed a significant number of alterations in autoantibodies against various G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and RAS-related proteins, two further TPEs were performed, resulting in rapid and sustained clinical improvement. This report highlights the role of the different types of autoantibodies produced in response to anti-COVID-19 vaccination, which can have functional, regulatory, and possibly pathogenic effects on the vascular and nervous systems.

It was larger than the Earth. It was so big you could actually see it on the Sun's surface without magnification. It contained powerful and tangled magnetic fields as well as numerous dark sunspots. Labelled AR 3664, it developed into one of the most energetic areas seen on the Sun in recent years, unleashing a series of explosions that led to a surge of energetic particles striking the Earth, which created beautiful auroras. And might continue. Although active regions on the Sun like AR 3664 can be quite dangerous, this region's Coronal Mass Ejections have not done, as yet, much damage to Earth-orbiting satellites or Earth-surface electrical grids. Pictured, the enormous active region was captured on the setting Sun a few days ago from Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy. The composite image includes a very short exposure taken of just the Sun's surface, but mimics what was actually visible. Finally, AR 3664 is now rotating away from the Earth, although the region may survive long enough to come around again.

The United Nations has seemingly revised the estimated number of women and children it believes have been killed in Gaza during Israel’s war on Hamas, blaming the “fog of war” for the mistake.

 

In a graphic featured within OCHA’s recent daily briefing on May 6th, it was claimed that approximately 9,500 women had lost their lives in the ongoing conflict. The organization also cited data sourced from the Hamas-administered Ministry of Health in Gaza asserting that since hostilities began last October, roughly 14,500 children had been killed.

 

Yet just two days later, the U.N. agency appeared to revise these figures significantly downward in its subsequent report. The updated data indicated that approximately 4,959 women and 7,797 children had lost their lives.

 

The conflict erupted following a brutal attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel from Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 1,200 individuals, predominantly civilians, and the taking of approximately 240 individuals as hostages.

 

A reporter from the Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) asked the U.N. about the revision, with the spokesperson blaming the “fog of war” for the errors.

 

“The revisions are taken … you know, of course, in the fog of war, it’s difficult to come up with numbers,” Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, said at a press conference last Friday.

 

“We get numbers from different sources on the ground, and then we try to cross check them. As we cross check them, we update the numbers, and we’ll continue to do that as that progresses.”

 

The revision takes place as global tensions and backlash over Israel’s war against Hamas threaten to boil over, with many nations accusing them of committing genocide against the Palestinians, a charge that Israel and its allies have fervently denied.

 

Over the weekend, neighboring Egypt confirmed that it would formally support South Africa’s genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), stating that Israel has acted “in flagrant violation of the provisions of international law, international humanitarian law, and the Fourth Convention of 1949 for the protection of civilian persons in time of war”.

ELECTION INTERFERENCE.

The website of Merchan’s Authentic Campaigns highlights the Brennan Center for Justice as one of its clients. A recipient of considerable cash from George Soros over the years, the Brennan Center played a critical role in the recent attempt to remove President Trump from the Colorado ballot ahead of the 2024 election.

The group filed an amicus brief advising the Supreme Court to reject President Trump’s efforts to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove him from the ballot due to claims he incited an insurrection on January 6th.

”The brief urges the Court to reject Trump’s attempts to revive the independent state legislature theory on appeal,” summarized the Brennan Center.

Authentic Campaigns appears to have worked for Brennan Center since at least 2023, with the group still listed as an active client. In addition to expanding the group’s online presence and following, Authentic Campaigns also helped "seamlessly transition these engaged readers into grassroots donors, thereby augmenting the organization’s funding and capacity to drive change.”

"Authentic embarked on a meticulously crafted journey to not only identify and acquire new subscribers but also to galvanize them into becoming active, contributing donors to the Brennan Center’s mission. We honed in on target audiences with a demonstrated affinity for progressive and pro-democracy causes as well as social justice nonprofit engagement, ensuring that our outreach was as resonant as it was expansive,” summarized the company of its robust efforts.

Authentic Campaign’s work for the Brennan Center appears to have been centered on elections, with sample ads and campaigns on the firm’s website focusing on themes such as how to "protect election officials” and hammering how "they couldn’t take our Capitol. Now they’re coming for our democracy.”

The left-wing non profit has also initiated at least 14 lawsuits against then-President Trump and Cabinet members for a variety of immigration and census-related topics. More recently, the Brennan Center also intervened in defense of Democrat election officials such as the Pennsylvania Secretary of State during the 2020 election following lawsuits from the Trump campaign.

THE CHINA CONNECTION.

The Asia Society is another client of Authentic Campaigns.

The group is a pro-China lobby group that sponsors several Chinese

Communist Party-funded Confucius Institutes across the United States. These controversial institutes are propaganda centers – notoriously rife with espionage activity – that operated extensively on college campuses until President Trump cracked down on their presence in American schools. What’s more, Confucius Institutes have a counterpart called "Confucius Classrooms,” which focus on spreading their pro-communism and pro-China message to students in elementary through high school.

The Asia Society, which frequently collaborates with other Chinese Communist Party-backed influence groups, counts members of the Chinese Communist Party and high-ranking officials at Chinese universities with track records of cyber-espionage and intellectual property theft such as East China Normal University, Renmin University, and Wuhan University on its board.

The future of cellular data transfer could lie in "curving" light beams midair to deliver 6G wireless networks with blazing-fast speeds — bypassing the need for line of sight between transmitter and receivers.

In a new study published March 30 in the journal Nature's Communications Engineering, researchers explained how they developed a transmitter that can dynamically adjust the waves needed to support future 6G signals.

The most advanced cellular communications standard is 5G. Expected to be thousands of times faster, 6G will begin rolling out in 2030, according to the trade body GSMA.

 

Unlike 5G, which mostly operates in bands under 6 gigahertz (GHz) in the electromagnetic spectrum, 6G is expected to operate in sub-terahertz (THz) between 100 GHz and 300 GHz, and THz bands — just below infrared.

The closer this radiation is to visible light, the more prone the signals are to be blocked by physical objects. A major challenge with high-frequency 5G and future 6G is that signals need a direct line of sight between a transmitter and receiver.

But in the experiments, the scientists showed that you can effectively "curve" high-frequency signals around obstacles such as buildings.

"This is the world's first curved data link, a critical milestone in realizing the 6G vision of high data rate and high reliability," said Edward Knightly, co-author of the study and professor of electrical and computer engineering at Rice University, in a statement.

 

The photons, or light particles, that make up the THz radiation in this region of the electromagnetic spectrum generally travel in straight lines unless space and time are warped by massive gravitational forces — the kind that black holes exert. But the researchers found that self-accelerating beams of light — first demonstrated in research from 2007 — form special configurations of electromagnetic waves that can bend or curve to one side as they move through space.

By designing transmitters with patterns that manipulate the strength, intensity and timing of the data-carrying signals, the researchers made waves that worked together to create a signal that remained intact even if its route to a receiver was partially blocked. They found that a light beam can be formed that adjusts to any objects in its way by shuffling data to an unblocked pattern. So while the photons still travel in a straight line, the THz signal effectively bends around an object.

 

Bending toward a 6G future

 

While bending light without the power of a black hole isn't new research, what's significant about this study is it could make 6G networks a practical reality.

5G millimeter wave (mmWave) currently offers the fastest network bandwidth by occupying the higher 5G radio frequencies between 24GHz and 100GHz of the electromagnetic spectrum to deliver theoretical maximum download speeds of 10 to 50 gigabits (billions of bits) per second. THz rays sit above mmWave in a frequency between 100 GHz and 10,000 GHz (10 THz), which is needed to deliver data transfer speeds of one terabit per second — nearly 5,000 times faster than average U.S. 5G speeds.

 

"We want more data per second," Daniel Mittleman, a professor at Brown's School of Engineering, said in a statement. "If you want to do that, you need more bandwidth, and that bandwidth simply doesn't exist using conventional frequency bands."

But due to the high frequencies they operate in, both 5G mmWave and future 6G signals need a direct line of sight between a transmitter and receiver. But by practically delivering a signal over a curved trajectory, future 6G networks wouldn't need buildings to be covered in receivers and transmitters.

 

However, a receiver needs to be within the near-field range of the transmitter for signal bending to work. When using high-frequency THz rays, this means some 33 feet (10 meters) apart, which is no good for city-wide 6G but could be practical for next-generation Wi-Fi networks.

"One of the key questions that everybody asks us is how much can you curve and how far away," Mittleman said. "We've done rough estimations of these things, but we haven't really quantified it yet, so we hope to map it out."

While curving THz signals holds a lot of promise for future 6G networks, the use of THz spectrum is still in its infancy. With this study, the scientists said we have gotten a step closer to realizing cellular wireless networks with unparalleled speeds.

Months from the 2024 presidential election, Americans remain mostly in the dark about a sweeping executive order Joe Biden signed early in his presidency that could swing the entire contest in his favor. New bombshell documents obtained by the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project reinforce that is precisely the point of the directive — and the administration is working in cahoots with left-wing activist groups to achieve it.

 

In March 2021, President Biden signed an “Executive Order on Promoting Access to Voting.” The administration inked the directive,apparently the brainchild of leftist think-tank Demos, to cheers from dozens of like-minded but officially nonpartisan nongovernmental organizations.

 

As I have been reporting at RealClearInvestigations,Executive Order 14019 mandates that every single federal agency register and mobilize voterswith the express intent of increasing election participation amongminority groupsthat tend to vote disproportionately Democrat. In pursuit of its aims, the order calls on agencies to “solicit[] and facilitat[e] approved, nonpartisan third-party organizations … to provide voter registration services on agency premises.”

 

That language has raised alarm bells among the right, who suspect the leftist groups supportive of the order — that may be unconstitutional or violate several laws — could coordinate with agencies to implement it and increase registration only of Democrat voters.

 

Such an effort could well prove decisive. A since-deleted but archived Demos analysis indicates that, if fully implemented, the order could lead to 3.5 million new or updated voter registrations annually — a massive figure considering recent presidential elections have been decided by mere thousands of votes in a handful of states.

 

Bombshell Memo

Details from a July 2021 listening session the Department of Justice (DOJ) conducted with leftist activists about implementing the order,revealed for the first time in a May 1 Oversight Project memo, suggest fears of collusion between federal agencies and leftist activist groups are more than merited. The details come from a set of unredacted notes taken by a DOJ attorney.

During those proceedings, Biden administration officials heard from activists overwhelmingly from the left. According to its review of the listening session roster, the Oversight Project found that “Every participant whose party affiliation or political donation history could be identified by the Oversight Project was identified as a Democrat except for one Green Party member.”

 

Here were some of their recommendations, as recounted by the unnamed Justice Department official:

• Keeda Haynes of The Sentencing Project indicated that eligible voters who are incarcerated “have been left out of voting,” and emphasized that those held in pretrial custody also have the right to vote. Haynes proposed a variety of ways the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) could provide voter registration information during prisoner admission, orientation training, and various other touch points with prison personnel. She also recommended that authorities “provide in-person voting options, such as voting machines” at facilities where “eligible voters” reside. “Felony disenfranchisement is voter suppression,” the DOJ attorney recorded.

• Dana Paikowsky of the Campaign Legal Center indicated a desire to “develop infrastructure in jails and prisons and also help people understand their eligibility after they are released.” She related that her organization remained “concerned about BOP’s focus on voter registration only, and only on individuals from ME, VT, and DC. Felons in Puerto Rico are also eligible to vote. In Mississippi, don’t lose right to vote for federal convictions, and AL also has some eligibility. Those individuals with convictions for federal misdemeanors can usually vote, too.”

• Terry Minnis of Asian Americans Advancing Justice pushed not only for agencies to create multi-lingual materials pertaining to voting, but for making “voter registration info mandatory at naturalization ceremonies.”

• Michelle Bishop of the National Disability Rights Network reportedly called on increasing the access to vote for people in long-term care facilities — without any apparent concern suffering patients could be taken advantage of by partisan operatives.

• Nik Youngsmith of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund seemed to acknowledge that under the order, noncitizens could be registered to vote, noting “Federal employees need to know who should be properly registered and not. Don’t want someone to face charges for registering based on bad info.”

The documents obtained by theOversight Project date back to a July 2021 meeting, yet represent something of a major revelation in May 2024. That illustrates how surreptitious this effort has been.

 

Administration Partnering with Leftist Groups

Although the Biden administration has stonewalled congressional Republicans over the strategic plans each agency was to develop in accordance with the order, evidence has slowly emerged through primarily conservative media reportage and watchdog groups’ Freedom of Information Act requests and litigation,suggesting the administration took the groups’ suggestions to heart.

 

In January, The Daily Signal reported that BOP “has partnered with and regularly consults on voting issues with theLeague of Women Voters, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Campaign Legal Center, and the Washington Lawyers’ Committee” — several of which were represented at the July 2021 listening session — in connection with the executive order. A BOP spokesman detailed that the bureau had partnered with such groups to offer “civics education classes” and “voter registration drives” at several correctional facilities nationwide.

 

Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson wrote a letter in March to Attorney General Merrick Garland raising concerns that under Executive Order 14019, theU.S. Marshals Service was being directed to “modify agreements with jails” to mandate that they “provide voter registration materials and facilitate voting by mail,” on top of requiring the DOJ “to facilitate voter registration and mail voting for individuals in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons.” According to Watson, this could lead to not only ineligible voters but among them noncitizens — including illegal aliens — being encouraged to illegally register to vote.

 

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is working to register voters at naturalization ceremonies. Other agencies ranging from the Departments of Housing and Urban Development to Labor and Agriculture have also been executing plans to register voters who favor Democrats.

 

In connection with a federal lawsuit challenging the order brought by 27 Pennsylvania state legislators, the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) — which has sued the Biden administration to unearth documents and communications associated with the order — filed an amicus brief asserting that:

all of the federal agencies FGA has identified as taking active steps to carry out EO 14019 have one thing in common: They provide government welfare benefits and other services to groups of voters the vast majority of which have historically voted Democrat.

 

The House Small Business Committee recently subpoenaed the Small Business Administration (SBA) over its stonewalling regarding an agreement the agency came to with all-important swing state Michigan to “promote civic engagement and voter registration” — including through allowing state officials to engage in in-person voter registration efforts at SBA’s business outreach events.

 

Consistent with FGA’s brief, Fox News reported that:

 

An investigation by theHouse Small Business Committee found that 22 out of 25 such outreach events have taken placein counties with the highest population of Democratic National Committee (DNC) target demographics.

 

Meanwhile, 11 of 15 Michigan counties that showed the largest voter registration increase over the last year have ranked highest in population of young voters and Black voters, according to the committee — two of the left’s most-sought voting blocs.

 

To the extent the Biden administration is using the full resources of the federal government to turn out Democrat voters under the facially nonpartisan guise of expanding the franchise to allegedly underrepresented groups, this would echo Democrats’ related efforts to use nonprofit organizations to achieve the same.

Legal Challenge’s Urgency

With the 2024 election fast approaching and theBiden administration executive order being implemented, Pennsylvania legislators’ challenge to it has taken greater urgency. Several weeks ago a district court judge dismissed the case on standing grounds.On April 23, the legislators filed a petition for writ of certiorari at the Supreme Court, and asked the court to expedite the case.

 

The legislators believe the executive order violates state laws“prohibiting the influence of outside organizations in election operations” enacted over concerns regarding the influence of “Zuckerbucks” — private financing of public election administration from the Zuckerberg-Chan Foundation — during the 2020 election. In their motion urging the

Supreme Court to swiftly take up the case, the legislators explain that Congress neither authorized the executive action nor appropriated funding for it, and that Pennsylvania law therefore bars such voter registration activities.

 

When the relevant law was introduced, itssponsor’s memo “explained the need to prevent public officials from partnering with third party non-governmental organizations‘for the registration of voters or the preparation, administration or conducting of an election in this Commonwealth.’”

 

“Exactly what the legislators sought to preventthrough their law-making authority has now been facilitated by executive action by the President who is also a candidate in the 2024 election and, as such, stands to benefit personally from the executive action,” the legislators wrote.

 

Time will tell whether the Supreme Court will hear their case, rule that they do in fact have standing, and thereby give them a chance to seek an injunction that would halt the executive order before voting begins. Even then, much damage will have been done.

PITTSBURGH — A world-renowned forensic pathologist who served Allegheny County for two decades has died.

 

A spokesperson for the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts confirmed Cyril Wecht died on Monday. He was 93.

 

Wecht held various roles in Allegheny County, including in the coroner’s office, the district attorney’s office, a pathologist at the VA and the County Commissioner.

 

During his time as the Allegheny County coroner, Wecht performed about 21,000 autopises and reviewed or been consulted on 42,000 additional postmortem exams, according to a biography on Duquesne University. Some of the high-profile cases he was involved in include O.J. Simpson, Kurt Cobain, the Menendez Brothers, Scott Peterson, Chandra Levy, Elvis Presley and Jeffrey Epstein. He likewise investigated the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy.

 

“He worked avidly and expertly to discover the truth surrounding deaths and injuries suffered by others, and brought comfort and justice for countless grieving and victimized families around the globe,” the release from Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts reads.

 

Wecht held faculty positions at several Pittsburgh area schools, including the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University and Carlow University. He founded the Pittsburgh Institute of Legal Medicine and the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne and taught there for around 60 years.

 

Duquesne University President Ken Gormley, a long-time college of Wecht, in a statement, says the school and its community were “blessed by his presence on campus as a professor” and says he will be “sorely missed.” The full statement reads:

 

“Dr. Cyril Wecht was a globally respected forensic pathologist, a gifted politician, and an incredible champion of Duquesne University. The Duquesne community was blessed by his presence on campus as a professor in the Duquesne Kline Law school for many years. His continued influence is felt through the academic work of the Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law and in the resources of the Cyril H. Wecht Forensic Science Collection. I was proud to call him a long-time colleague. Gov. Josh Shapiro issued a statement on Wecht, calling him a “legendary figure in forensic pathology and criminal justice.” The full statement reads:

As I said today to his son, Justice David Wecht, Cyril lived a full, impactful, and meaningful life. May Cyril Wecht’s memory forever be a blessing.”

 

He detailed his career and personal life, including his professional pitfalls and public corruption trial, in a memoir titled “The Life and Deaths of Cyril Wecht: Memoirs of America’s Most Controversial Forensic Pathologist.”

 

According to the statement from the courts, Wecht loved Pittsburgh and Allegheny Conty, and would never consider living anywhere else, despite traveling all over the world.

 

“Most of all, Cyril loved his family, and made the happiness, well-being, and education of his wife, his children and his grandchildren his top priority in life,” the statement says.

 

Wecht is survived by his wife, four children and 11 grandchildren.

 

Officials say his funeral, burial and shiva will be private but a public memorial service will be announced at a later date.

A proposed bill in the New York Senate is a gun control law being presented under the guise of an environmental law, warns the Schuyler County Clerk.

According to County Clerk Theresa Philbin, “the Sporting Range Good Neighbor Act,” currently pending in the New York State Senate, would place heavy restrictions on shooting ranges, due to proximity to wetlands and open water sources, potentially forcing existing ranges to close.

That, in turn, would prevent people from getting pistol permits. It would also mean local school shooting leagues would have no place to practice.

At Philbin’s request, on Monday the Schuyler County Legislature will consider a resolution asking state officials to reject the bill.

The proposed resolution, drafted with the assistance of Schuyler County Attorney Steven Getman, cleared the county’s Management and Finance Committee in April. It points out that the proposed act “will cause severe hardship on the clubs, members and schools who depend upon the fish and game clubs for this very popular recreational sport in Schuyler County and the Finger Lakes with no empirical evidence that the mandates and restrictions are necessary.”

“This Bill is based upon misinformation as to the trajectory of skeet shots, and the reason why most trap and skeet fields have been operating for decades without the need for this additional legislation,” the resolution notes.

“This mis-named Act would require skeet field tracts at shooting ranges to be a minimum of 600 yards by 300 yards….Participants are shooting shotguns with small lead pellet loads which are only capable of traveling a maximum distance of 150-200 yards; in addition, most clubs reclaim the expended pellets for reuse.”

The bill says these restrictions will prevent lead from bullets getting into the environment.

Critics of the bill, including Philbin, have noted that shooting ranges already have to meet restrictive guidelines to operate safely, costing them up to $100,000, and that restrictions will cost thousands of dollars more, possibly forcing them to close.

“This Bill essentially will force most ranges and clubs to build a covered backstop and be required to follow the State rules regarding lead reclamation,” Philbin said. “Most if not all clubs will not be able to afford to comply with these regulations.”

Getman noted that closing ranges could impact citizens’ ability to obtain a pistol permit under New York State’s gun control laws.

“If you wish to apply for a concealed carry license, you need to complete the Concealed Carry Firearm Safety Training Course,” Getman said. “Often, those classes are held at the local ranges.”

“Forcing those ranges to close would effectively prevent many New Yorkers from exercising their Second Amendment rights.”

According to Philbin, it is not just club members who participate at these ranges, but also school trap teams. “When you look at those kids that are on school-sponsored sports teams, they get better grades in school, they have a lower dropout rate, they stay away from alcohol and drugs and tobacco,” she said.

“This legislation could negatively affect students’ futures. That’s why we want to protect our clubs.”

The county’s resolution, if passed, will be sent to Gov. Kathy Hochul and the county’s representatives in the New York State legislature, Senator Thomas O’Mara and Assemblyman Philip Palmesano, asking each to oppose the bill.

She notes that her life can be neatly cleaved into experiences in “two German states – 35 years in the German Democratic Republic, 35 years in reunited Germany”, according to the book’s English publisher, Pan Macmillan.

 

The 700-page tomewas written with Merkel’s longtime political adviser Beate Baumann. It covers Merkel’s childhood in East Germany, improbable political rise after the collapse of the communist regime, and 16 years as chancellor.

For the first time ever, physicists have captured a clear image of individual atoms behaving like a wave.

The image shows sharp red dots of fluorescing atoms transforming into fuzzy blobs of wave packets and is a stunning demonstration of the idea that atoms exist as both particles and waves — one of the cornerstones of quantum mechanics.

The scientists who invented the imaging technique published their findings on the preprint server arXiv, so their research has not yet been peer reviewed.

 

"The wave nature of matter remains one of the most striking aspects of quantum mechanics," the researchers wrote in the paper. They add that their new technique could be used to image more complex systems, giving insights into some fundamental questions in physics.

First proposed by the French physicist Louis de Broglie in 1924 and expanded upon by Erwin Schrödinger two years later, wave particle duality states that all quantum-sized objects, and therefore all matter, exists as both particles and waves at the same time.

Schrödinger's famous equation is typically interpreted by physicists as stating that atoms exist as packets of wave-like probability in space, which are then collapsed into discrete particles upon observation. While bafflingly counterintuitive, this bizarre property of the quantum world has been witnessed in numerous experiments.

 

To image this fuzzy duality, the physicists first cooled lithium atoms to near-absolute zero temperatures by bombarding them with photons, or light particles, from a laser to rob them of their momentum. Once the atoms were cooled, more lasers trapped them within an optical lattice as discrete packets.

With the atoms cooled and confined, the researchers periodically switched the optical lattice off and on — expanding the atoms from a confined near-particle state to one resembling a wave, and then back.

A microscope camera recorded light emitted by atoms in the particle state at two different times, with atoms behaving like waves in between. By putting together many images, the authors built up the shape of this wave and observed how it expands with time, in perfect agreement with Schrödinger's equation

 

"This imaging method consists in turning back on the lattice to project each wave packet into a single well to turn them into a particle again — it is not a wave anymore," study co-author Tarik Yefsah, a physicist at the French National Centre for Scientific Research and the École normale supérieure in Paris, told Live Science. "You can see our imaging method as a way to sample the wavefunction density, not unlike the pixels of a CCD camera." A CCD camera is a common type of digital camera that uses a charge-coupled device to capture its images.

The scientists say this image is just a simple demonstration. Their next step will be using it to study systems of strongly interacting atoms that are less well understood.

"Studying such systems could improve our understanding of strange states of matter, such as those found in the core of extremely dense neutron stars, or the quark-gluon plasma that is believed to have existed shortly after the Big Bang," Yefsah said.

Well, at the start of the pandemic, he said, this all comes from the wet markets in Wuhan. It's nothing to do with a lab leak whatsoever.

And don't worry, because it can't be transmitted human to human. I mean, the global organisation that we rely upon for best practice for sharing information got everything completely and utterly wrong. Well, now, believe it or not, in two weeks time, there'll be a meeting in Geneva of the World Health Organisation and 194 countries will be in the room.

And they want us to sign a global pandemic treaty. Now, Boris Johnson signed us up to the first phase of this back in 2021, in the depths of the Covid crisis. This, folks, is what it means. It would give the unelected bureaucrats of the World Health Organisation the ability to take 20% of our PPE, 20% of our vaccines or cures of any kind.

It would give them the ability to tell us to wear masks. They have the ability to tell us we must be jabbed, probably repeatedly, before we could even get an airplane and travel to another country. But the big one, it would give them the right to declare a global pandemic and tell us to lockdown. Now it’s bad enough when British politicians do things like this, but at least we can call them to account.

At least they have to appear before the media and ultimately we can choose not to vote for them. This is a massive transfer of power from our elected House of Commons to a globalist organisation. Memories of Brexit, yes, it's pretty much the same logic. I mean, what was the point of Brexit if we're going to give away incredible powers?

The government and the opposition in Britain today do not even want this to be discussed. And so bad is it that over 100,000 people signed a petition to say, we want to have a debate in Parliament on this? And guess what? The Petitions Committee threw it out and the government said their stance on the W.H.O. hasn't changed. They want us to remain members.

Well, what I'm saying is this. Unless we get the W.H.O. back to First Principles, which is a forum where we can share information, share best practice as opposed to giving it power itself, we should threaten to withdraw our money. We should threaten to leave it. We should try and attempt to reform it. If we can't reform it, well, then it's simple.

Rather like the European Union, we just have to leave. There has been no debate in Parliament on this yet. It's coming in two weeks time and that's why I'm happy to front Action On World Health. Princeton students end hunger strike due to hunger, 'health concerns' after 10 days

On day 9, there had been 13 students hunger striking, but they swapped out on day 10 for 7 alternates.

 

On day 10 of their hunger strike, Princeton students decided to give up their protest and grab a bite to eat. In an Instagram post, the 13 students who had been camped out on the New Jersey campus for 10 days, undertaking a hunger strike for Gaza, gave the update that "the first hunger strike wave ended." On day 9, there had been 13 students hunger striking, but they swapped out on day 10 for 7 alternates.

 

"Princeton Gaza Solidarity Encampment Update: Due to health concerns of the 13 strikers who fasted for 9 days," they wrote, "the first hunger strike wave ended, and the second wave has begun.In the tradition of rotary hunger strikes,(KEK) Seven new strikers are indefinitely fasting for a free Palestine."

However, there is good reason to believe that in this case, indefinitely means 10 days. The graphic they shared reads "we will not rest until divest," referring to one of their demands, which is for Princeton to divest investment and cultural ties with Israel.

 

During their 10-day hunger strike, other groups had come and gone to give their support via solidarity fasts.Over the past weekend, a group of professors joined the Gaza campers for a 24-hour fast. They went to the Gaza camp to give their support in the form of video testimony backing the students. One associate professor said, "the students have simply done what they were told to do," while a professor in the English department said, "Our students are putting their bodies on the line to try to affect change, and teaching them how to affect change is what we do as educators."

"We are both cold and hot at the same time," a student complained, "we are all immunocompromised. And based off the university's meeting yesterday with some of our bargaining team, they would love to continue physically weakening us because they can't stand to say no to unjust murder." They complained further that the school wasn't doing enough to make sure they were healthy during their self-imposed fast.

 

Among theirdemands were "complete amnesty from all criminal and disciplinary charges" for hunger-striking students. Theirinitial demands wereto "Meet with students to discuss their demands for disclosure, divestment and a full academic and cultural boycott of Israel; grant complete amnesty from all criminal and disciplinary charges for the participants of the peaceful protest. Reverse all campus bans and evictions of students."

 

"The University and the world must recognize that we refuse to be complicit in genocide, and will take every necessary action to change this reality, our hunger strike, though small in comparison to the enduring suffering of the Palestinian people, symbolizes our unwavering commitment to justice and solidarity."

 

The administration of the school appears to have waited them out, and it is unclear what new leverage the smaller group of hunger strikers will have to change the investment strategy of the Ivy League school.

Scientists claim to have spotted 'God's Hand' reaching for the stars 1,300 light years from Earth.

This discovery is no miracle, but simply the latest telescope images of a vast structure known as the CG 4 cometary globule.

 

The incredible structure was spotted by the Dark Energy Camera on the US National Science Foundation Victor M. Blanco 4-meter Telescope.

The globule's dusty expanse is normally hidden in darkness, but these images reveal the ominous red glow of excited hydrogen lighting it up from within.

The National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory (NOIRLab) says: 'In the constellation Puppis, a ghostly hand appears to be emerging from the interstellar medium and reaching out into the cosmos.'

 

CG 4 appears to burst out of the pink clouds of the nearby Gum Nebula.

With its distinct arm-like appearance, this impressive cosmic structure has earned the nickname 'God's Hand'.

But while some might say these telescope images resemble the Sistine Chapel, fans of science fiction might note a striking resemblance to the sandworms from Dune.

 

The 'head' of the cometary globule has often been compared to the gaping mouth of a great beast.

This comparison is all the more fitting as the 'worm' appears to be in the process of consuming a tiny galaxy nearby.

However, there is no need to be alarmed as the galaxy – called ESO 257-19 – is actually more than 100 million light-years behind CG 4.

 

Although this structure is known as a cometary globule, it actually has nothing to do with comets beyond their similar shape.

Rather these strange formations are a subclass of dark nebulae known as Bok globules – dense clouds of cosmic dust and gas surrounded by hot, ionized material.

 

While a head 1.5 light-years long and an 8 light-year-long tail might seem massive, it is actually quite small by the standard of Bok globules.

Cometary globules are also usually very dim and so have been extremely difficult for astronomers to study and have only been recognised since 1976.

However, as massive, hot stars bombard the globule with intense radiation the hydrogen within the gas clouds begins to glow.

 

In a blog revealing the images, NOIRLab writes: 'Their tails, shrouded in dark stellar dust, block most light from passing through.

'But with its special Hydrogen-alpha filter, DECam [Dark Energy Camera] can pick up the faint red glow of ionized hydrogen present within CG 4’s head and around its outer rim.'

This same radiation is gradually wearing away the head of CG 4 as tiny particles are constantly swept away.

 

However, NOIRLab notes that CG 4's head still contains enough gas to fuel several sun-sized stars.

No one is quite sure why cometary globules like CG 4 have their distinctive shape but their location might offer some clues

The vast majority of all cometary globules known to science are found in and around the Gum Nebula.

 

Believed to be the remnants of a supernova explosion around one million years ago, this nebula is home to at least 31 other cometary globules.

One theory suggests that structures like the Hand of God might have started as spherical nebulas and have since been pushed out of shape by the blast of a supernova.

The second theory suggests that they have been shaped by stellar winds and radiation pressure from nearby stars.

 

Some scientists suggest that the Vela Pulsar, a rapidly spinning neutron star formed by the collapse of a massive star, could be responsible.

The pressure and radiation from this incredibly hot star may have been enough to push a once-spherical dust cloud into this comet-like shape.

NOIRLab writes: 'In fact, all of the cometary globules found within the Gum Nebula appear to have tails pointing away from the center of the nebula, which is where the Vela Supernova Remnant and Vela Pulsar are located.'

Expect more geomagnetic storms today (Monday) as the sun continues to unleash X-class flares, CBS News reported.

 

The recent strongest geomagnetic storm in over two decades hit Earth on Friday, causing radio blackouts and stunning auroras visible even in the southern U.S. But the stormy weather isn’t over yet, officials caution.

 

Geomagnetic storms expected on Monday: Forecast and outlook from NOAA

According to NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center, a G3, or “strong,” geomagnetic storm warning remains in place until 2 a.m. ET Monday.

 

While the likelihood of stronger storms has diminished, conditions are anticipated to calm throughout the day gradually. However, moderate to strong geomagnetic storms are still expected on Monday, with minor storms possible on Tuesday.

 

“Flares of this magnitude are not frequent,” the center said. “…Users of high frequency (HF) radio signals may experience temporary degradation or complete loss of signal on much of the sunlit side of Earth.”

 

As another X-class solar flare was detected, the update highlights ongoing solar activity. X-class flares represent the most powerful category of these solar eruptions, with the latest one categorized as “moderate.”

 

Moreover, the center forecasts that solar activity will remain at high levels, raising the possibility of additional solar flares, characterized by bursts of electromagnetic radiation emitted from the sun.

Sunday saw a powerful X-class flare, potentially causing hour-long radio blackouts on the sunlit side of Earth. Originating from Sunspot Region 3664, known for its frequent flares and CMEs, it contributed to the recent extreme geomagnetic storm. NOAA labeled this region as the most active on the sun’s surface.

 

Region 3664, visible to the naked eye with eclipse glasses, spans 124,000 miles. Accompanied by Region 3663, forming a magnetically complex area larger than Earth, it underscores ongoing solar activity.

 

CMEs, characterized by large bursts of plasma and magnetic fields from the sun’s atmosphere, which trigger geomagnetic storms, are forecasted to persist throughout Monday, sustaining G3 activity.

 

NOAA predicts that the ongoing but diminishing influence of CMEs will gradually lessen responses to unsettled G1 (Minor) levels by May 14th. The summit was hosted by Richard Tempalski, Department of the Air Force chief modeling and simulation officer, and Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, commander of Air Education and Training Command.

The goal of the M&S Summit is to gather U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force M&S experts to learn about new M&S initiatives and techniques, network across military services and industry experts, and hear technological leaders’ perspectives on how M&S can transition more training from the real world to digital, following through with transforming training.

 

“In answering Gen. [David] Allvin’s call to all Airmen to follow through, we are following through on training transformation across the learning ecosystem—for technical training, flying training, even basic training,” Robinson said. “We are at an inflection point in the DAF, and transformation is required. In an era of Great Power Competition, deterring a war through training is accomplished by demonstrating increased readiness. The modeling and simulation community is a critical component to helping AETC maintain its competitive edge and will be integral to the rapid and accelerated training function of the Air Force, should it find itself in the face of conflict.”

 

This year’s summit theme, “Training in a Digital World,” highlighted the DAF’s digital training and included 29 exhibitors who showcased the latest technology available. About 900 attendees from across the nation were in attendance to hear from experts and learn more about tools that can be used to address the development of technologies to bring together multi-domain analysis, test, training and processing.

“The Airmen and Guardians we are developing right now will decide the future fight against our adversaries,” Robinson said. “Panel discussions and breakout sessions provided unique perspectives, cutting-edge tools and innovative techniques to better execute the DAF training transformation for stakeholders, mission owners and ultimately the warfighter. We must modernize and accelerate change to keep in step with both demand and the fast-paced virtual learning world.”

 

Senior leaders led six panel discussions, and attendees heard more about Senior Leaders’ Perspective, Training Modernization, Government and Industry Partnerships, Medical Modeling and Simulation Innovation, Challenges and Ideas from an NCO perspective and M&S Enablers.

“The DAF M&S enterprise includes thousands of employees around 70 organizations, spending about $4 billion per year,” said Tempalski. “Simply stated, Chief Modeling and Simulation Office’s mission identifies enterprise M&S requirements and delivery of advanced M&S capabilities

[including tools, data and services] to the warfighter.”

 

Also in attendance were about 100 high schoolers from the Randolph Field Independent School District and CAST STEM High School, a public high school that partners with Southwest Independent School District. CAST Schools and Palo Alto College prepare students for jobs in engineering, advanced manufacturing and global logistics. Students toured the exhibit hall and heard from Airmen, who told the students more about their Air Force specialties and opportunities in the Air Force.

Senior leaders also took a closer look at technology being used and explored by members located at Detachment 24 at JBSA-Randolph. Those attending the tour were given a hands-on demonstration of the latest immersive training devices and previewed the immersive content being fielded today.

 

“We have found that the modeling and simulation community continues to impress and mature,” Lt. Col. Steve Briones, Det. 24 commander, said. “The industry’s internal research and development investments will be the reason that these solutions see the light of day.”

Det. 24 is subordinate to the 19th Air Force commander and is a military and civil partnership forged through industry, academia and government. Members of Det. 24 focus on flying training innovation and advances in rapid prototype development, export technologies and training methods designed to modernize pilot training. Det. 24 has also partnered with the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Royal Air Force on innovation efforts.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AFNS) –

U.S. Space Force Master Sgt. Patrick Pineda's journey to the lectern at the U.S. Air Force Academy is as remarkable as it is groundbreaking.

His tenure marks a significant milestone as the first enlisted Guardian teaching at the Academy, infusing a traditionally officer and civilian-dominated faculty with his unique insights.

Pineda brings over ten years of experience as an Intelligence Analyst in both the Air Force and Space Force. His recent master's degree in Strategic Intelligence, with a Russian focus from the National Intelligence University, paved his way to academia.

 

His tenure marks a significant milestone as the first enlisted Guardian teaching at the Academy, infusing a traditionally officer and civilian-dominated faculty with his unique insights.

Pineda brings over ten years of experience as an Intelligence Analyst in both the Air Force and Space Force. His recent master's degree in Strategic Intelligence, with a Russian focus from the National Intelligence University, paved his way to academia.

In his role within the Military and Strategic Studies department, Pineda educates cadets on the intricacies of joint force doctrine, strategic theory and theorists, and the roles and capabilities of each service branch.

 

His course, MSS 251, gives cadets a baseline understanding of the national security apparatus, how it functions, and how the U.S. government executes its instruments of power across the spectrum of conflict.

Beyond curriculum development and classroom instruction, Pineda explained that his teaching philosophy emphasizes the tangible application of military concepts.

“What we teach is not just academic; it’s about preparing these future officers to think critically and strategically,” Pineda said. “We strive for cadets to understand that the world that we are entering is not the same as the last 20 years. The United States is entering an era of Great Power Competition, and they need to understand what’s at stake for the nation.”

 

This approach ensures that cadets not only learn strategic concepts but also understand their practical applications in real-world scenarios.

Pineda said that he is equally as dedicated to the relational aspects of his role, guiding cadets through their formative years at the Academy—from freshman cadets barely acquainted with military acumen to well-informed, strategic thinkers ready to take on future challenges.

He added that he finds it especially gratifying to observe their evolution.

“Seeing the growth in cadets from when they first walk into my classroom, knowing little about the military structure, to when they leave, speaking our lingo and understanding the baseline of Western strategic thinking, joint doctrine, and the functions and instruments of power the U.S. has at its disposal is incredibly rewarding.”

 

Integrating Space Force Expertise into Academy Curriculum

As the sole enlisted Guardian instructor, Pineda is uniquely positioned to inject Space Force knowledge and ethos into the Academy's curriculum. His experience within the Space Force, albeit limited, provides cadets with a greater understanding of the newest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

“I often find myself answering cadet questions about the Space Force, guiding those interested in commissioning into this new service, and clarifying how its capabilities integrate into the broader joint force,” Pineda said.

Through Pineda’s efforts, the Academy not only prepares cadets for traditional Air Force roles but also imparts insights into the Space Force's capabilities, enhancing their understanding of joint force dynamics, irrespective of the service branch they choose.

 

Setting a Precedent for Enlisted Guardians

Being the first enlisted Guardian to teach at the Academy, Pineda said he hopes to pave the way for future enlisted Guardian educators.

“Enlisted applicants who are eager to pursue a teaching role at the Academy should obtain a degree in a field that aligns with the academic courses taught here,” Pineda explained.

“Additionally, they should demonstrate a robust track record of job performance and, ideally, gain hands-on experience in their degree-related field.”

He added, “The selection board prioritizes candidates with a proven history of leading teams, possessing the appropriate degree, and showcasing relevant field experience in their desired teaching area.”
