Drug kingpin arrested at Santa Teresa airport

Mexican drug kingpin Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, the co-founder of the notorious Sinaloa drug cartel, is in U.S. custody, according to international news service Reuters.

Multiple sources have told KTSM that the arrest was made at the Santa Teresa International Jetport on Thursday afternoon, July 25.

A statement issued by the U.S. Justice Department also confirmed that the arrest was made in El Paso.

Zambada founded the Sinaloa Cartel along with now-jailed drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, and he faces a litany of indictments for crimes relating to drug trafficking and organized crime in the United States, according to Reuters.

U.S. federal prosecutors in February charged Zambada with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute fentanyl, which U.S. officials say is the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45, Reuters said in its report on the arrest.

Mexican drug lord Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and the son of his former partner, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, were arrested in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday, the U.S. Justice Department said.

“The Justice Department has taken into custody two additional alleged leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the most violent and powerful drug trafficking organizations in the world," the department said in a statement.

Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of El Chapo, face multiple charges in the U.S. "for heading the Cartel’s criminal operations, including its deadly fentanyl manufacturing and trafficking networks," the statement said.

The arrest of Guzman Lopez was first reported by Reuters, ahead of the Justice Department statement.

Two U.S. officials told Reuters that Zambada and Guzman Lopez were detained after landing in a private plane.

Zambada is one of the most consequential traffickers in Mexico's history and co-founded the Sinaloa Cartel with El Chapo, who was extradited to the United States in 2017 and is serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison.

After El Chapo's extradition, his criminal empire was inherited by four of his sons known as Los Chapitos, or Little Chapos who took over his faction of the cartel and became some of the biggest exporters of fentanyl to the United States.

El Mayo and Los Chapitos have had a fractious relationship since El Chapo's extradition, and the arrests of the two traffickers may trigger instability or even violence in Mexico.

U.S. federal prosecutors in February charged Zambada with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute fentanyl, which the Drug Enforcement Administration says is the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45.

Two Men Plead Guilty to Acting as Illegal Agents of Chinese Government and Bribery

John Chen, 71, of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Los Angeles, California, and Lin Feng, 44, a PRC citizen and resident of Los Angeles, California, pleaded guilty to acting as unregistered agents of the PRC and bribing an IRS agent in connection with a plot to target U.S.-based practitioners of Falun Gong — a spiritual practice banned in the PRC.

According to court documents, from at least approximately January 2023 to May 2023, Chen and Feng worked inside the United States at the direction of the PRC government, including PRC government official identified as PRC Official-1, to further the PRC's campaign to repress and harass Falun Gong practitioners. The PRC designated the Falun Gong as one of the “Five Poisons,” or one of the top five threats to its rule. In China, Falun Gong adherents face a range of repressive and punitive measures from the Chinese government, including imprisonment.

As part of the PRC's campaign against the Falun Gong, Chen and Feng engaged in a PRC government-directed scheme to manipulate the IRS’s Whistleblower Program in an effort to strip the tax-exempt status of an entity run and maintained by Falun Gong practitioners (Entity-1). After Chen filed a defective whistleblower complaint with the IRS, Chen and Feng paid $5,000 in cash bribes and promised to pay substantially more to a purported IRS agent (Agent-1) who was, in fact, an undercover officer, in exchange for Agent-1’s assistance in advancing the complaint. Neither Chen nor Feng notified the Attorney General that they were acting as agents of the PRC in the United States.

In the course of the scheme, Chen, on a recorded call, explicitly noted that the purpose of paying these bribes, which were directed and funded by the PRC, was to carry out the PRC government’s aim of “toppl[ing] . . . the Falun Gong.” During a call intercepted pursuant to a judicially authorized wiretap, Chen and Feng discussed receiving “direction” on the bribery scheme from PRC Official-1, deleting instructions received from PRC Official-1 in order to evade detection, and “alert[ing]” and “sound[ing] the alarm” to PRC Official-1 if Chen and Feng’s meetings to bribe Agent-1 did not go as planned. Chen and Feng also discussed that PRC Official-1 was the PRC government official “in charge” of the bribery scheme targeting the Falun Gong.

As part of this scheme, Chen and Feng met with Agent-1 in Newburgh, New York, on May 14, 2023. During the meeting, Chen gave Agent-1 a $1,000 cash bribe as an initial, partial bribe payment. Chen further offered to pay Agent-1 a total of $50,000 for opening an audit of Entity-1, as well as 60% of any whistleblower award from the IRS if the Chen whistleblower complaint were successful. On May 18, 2023, Feng paid Agent-1 a $4,000 cash bribe at John F. Kennedy International Airport as an additional partial bribe payment in furtherance of the scheme.

Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen of the Justice Department’s National Security Division, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams for the Southern District of New York and Executive Assistant Director Robert R. Wells of the FBI’s National Security Branch made the announcement.

Chen and Feng each pleaded guilty to one count of acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government and one count of bribing a public official. Chen pleaded guilty yesterday and is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 30. Feng pleaded guilty today and is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 31. Chen and Feng each face a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The FBI and the Office of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration are investigating the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Qais Ghafary, Michael D. Lockard and Kathryn Wheelock for the Southern District of New York and Trial Attorney Christina Clark of the Counterintelligence and Export Control Section are prosecuting the case.

As we’ve been reporting, FBI Director Chris Wray testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday, and as our Susie Moore wrote, he was more candid than usual (although that’s not saying much). There was one puzzling exchange he had with Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), however, that turned heads and earned a strong condemnation from Donald Trump.

Despite the fact that eight shots ran out on July 13 during a Pennsylvania campaign rally, despite retired fire chief Corey Comperatore being killed by gunfire and two others injured, and despite the fact that the GOP nominee’s doctor who actually treated the wound described it as a gunshot injury, Wray wasn’t convinced.

Responding to a question from Jordan, Wray said:

“With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”

I'm unclear why there's "some question" when the former president's physician said quite clearly Trump "sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear":

The author of the above letter, Dr. Ronny Jackson, noted that the bullet came less than a quarter inch from entering the former president's head.

“As reported and witnessed by the entire world, he sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear from a high-powered rifle used by the would-be assassin,” former White House physician and current Congressman Ronny Jackson said in a statement on Saturday, a week after the shooting.

“The bullet track produced a 2 cm wide wound that extended down to the cartilaginous surface of the ear,” wrote [Rep] Jackson, (R-Texas), noting he examined Trump the night he was shot.

“There was initially significant bleeding, followed by marked swelling of the entire upper ear.”

Trump himself was not amused and lit into Wray:

“Anyone who believes this conspiracy bulls–t is either mentally deficient or willfully peddling falsehoods for political reasons,” Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung told The Post.

“We have seen there is no depth low enough for the Biden-Harris Administration. So it’s not surprising they are doing this now,” he added.

Trump was also disgusted by what he considers Wray's gaslighting of the public regarding Joe Biden's mental deterioration. He called for the director's resignation, writing, "WRAY has to resign, and NOW, for LYING TO CONGRESS!"

It's unclear why Wray would so irresponsibly question Jackson's medical determination. Unless he has some new information that he is willing to share publicly, casting doubt will just fuel conspiracy theories and rile up the leftist tinfoil hat crowd. I can't read the man's mind, so I don't know his motive, but I can think of no other reason he would do this.

Here is a timely editorial that exposes the hidden background of Kamala Harris from the Combat Veterans for Congress Political Action Committee that is posted here with permission of the author. CVFC PAC supports the election of US military combat veterans to the US Senate and House of Representatives. The editorial begins:

[Trevor Loudon] is a New Zealand author, filmmaker, and public speaker. For more than 30 years, Trevor Loudon has researched the Radical Left, Marxists, Communists, and Terrorists movements, and their covert influence on mainstream politics. Trevor Loudon is best known for his book “Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists, and Progressives in the US Congress” and his similarly themed documentary film “Enemies Within”.

In this article, Trevor Loudon provides compelling and irrefutable evidence of Kamala Harris’ ties with Marxists, Communists, Maoists and Socialists.

Kamala Harris’ father was an avowed Marxist professor in the Economics Department at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Both of Harris’ parents were active in the Berkeley-based Afro-American Association; Fidel Castro and Che Guevara were the heroes of the Afro-American Association.

The group’s leader, Donald Warden (aka Khalid al-Mansour), mentored two young Afro-American Association members, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale; they created the Maoist inspired Black Panther Party which gained strong support from Communist China; the Black Panther Party served as the model for creation of the Black Lives Matter Marxist organization. Khalid al-Mansour subsequently went on to arrange financing and facilitated for Barack Hussein Obama to be accepted as a student to matriculate at Harvard Law School.

Following graduating from college, Harris returned to California and subsequently became the mistress of the 60-year-old married Speaker of the California Assembly, Willie Brown, Jr. Brown’s political campaigns was supported and funded by Dr. Carlton Goodlett, the owner of The Sun Reporter and other pro-Communist newspapers. Brown was elected as Mayor of San Francisco, and strongly endorsed Harris’ Marxist political philosophy; he guided Harris political rise in California politics, leading to her election as California’s Attorney General. Willie Brown, Jr. was a well-known long-time Communist sympathizer. Willie Brown, Jr. was initially elected to public office with the substantial help of the Communist Party USA. Today, Willie Brown is widely regarded as one of the Chinese Communist Party’s best friend in the San Francisco Bay Area.

While serving as San Francisco District Attorney, Kamala Harris mentored a young San Francisco Radical Maoist activist, Lateefah Simon, who was a member of the STORM Revolutionary Movement; Simon currently chairs the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Board. Simon has always been close friends with the founder of Black Lives Matter Marxist Domestic Terrorists, Alicia Garza, as well as STORM member and avowed Communist, Van Jones. Harris has been openly and aggressively supporting Black Lives Matter Marxists; Kamala Harris is still closely associated with Maoist Lateefah Simon and Marxist Alicia Garza.

Kamala Harris’s sister Maya Harris was a student activist at Stanford University. She was a closely associated with Steve Phillips, one of the leading Marxist-Leninists on campus and a long-time affiliate with the League of Revolutionary Struggle, a pro-Chinese Communist group. Phillips came out of the Left, and in college he studied Marx, Mao, and Lenin, and maintained close associations with fellow Communists. Phillips married into the multi-billion-dollar Sandler family of the Golden West Savings and Loan fortune. He funded many leftist political campaigns, and the voter registration drives in the Southern and South Western states in order to help his friend, Barack Hussein Obama, defeat Hillary Clinton. Phillips has been a major financial sponsor for Kamala Harris’s political campaigns for various California elective offices.

Harris husband, husband Doug Emhoff works for the law firm DLA Piper, which “boasts nearly 30 years of experience in Communist China with over 140 lawyers dedicated to its ‘Communist China Investment Services’ branch. If the American voters read the background information [in Trevor Loudon’s article] on Kamala Harris, they would never support her election as Vice President of the United States. Does Vice President Kamala Harris’ run for president have a right to inherit the Biden-for-president campaign war chest?

Not if a heavyweight conservative group has anything to say about it.

The conservative group, Citizens United, and Republican Party officials from 16 states and the Virgin Islands have filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission aimed at stopping what the groups call an “egregious violation” of federal election law.

In the complaint filed Wednesday, the group Citizens United and the GOP officials objected to Harris taking over more than $90 million in campaign funds raised before Sunday’s announcement that President Joe Biden was dropping out of the race.

The complaint demanded the FEC “investigate this unlawful conversion of campaign funds and assets without delay.”

“It speaks volumes that more so-called ‘good government’ groups aren’t sounding the alarm about this egregious violation,” a news release announcing the complaint said.

The root of the complaint is simple: Whatever their current offices are, neither Biden nor Harris are currently their party’s nominee for president.

The complaint cited federal election law — US Code 16(a)(7)(D) — which states that “contributions made to or for the benefit of any candidate nominated by a political party for election to the office of Vice President of the United States shall be considered to be contributions made to or for the benefit of the candidate of such party for election to the office of President of the United States.”

It also cited an advisory opinion that, according to the complaint, was issued by the FEC in 2008 (when Biden sought the Democratic nomination against a field that included Barack Obama). The opinion said, according to the complaint, that “presidential and vice presidential candidates of the same political party may share a single authorized committee so long as they are the nominees of that party.”

Since neither Biden nor Harris have been officially nominated, according to the complaint, Harris is ineligible to take over the war chest.

The deception spotted by Trentadue stems from a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit he filed against the FBI in February, seeking records about Roger Edwin Moore, who was a CIA asset, an FBI informant and a business associate to OKC bomber Tim McVeigh; as well as for records about the Aryan Republican Army, a neo-Nazi bank-robbery gang also involved in the attack.

“That statement is so misleading as to merit sanctions. The BOMBROB records posted by the FBI, for example, consist of just 5,514 pages, not the 36,795 pages of responsive documents that the Bureau claims to possess,” Trentadue said in a Tuesday court filing, responding to the FBI’s request to pause his lawsuit. BOMBROB was FBI’s investigation of the ARA.

“More importantly, of these 5,514 pages, only 51 pages reference McVeigh. Similarly, the FBI’s website contains just 229 pages of records on Roger Edwin Moore, not the 31,129 pages of responsive records that the Bureau claims to have located, and none of these records involve Moore’s participation in Operation Punchout,” Trentadue added, referencing the FBI operation in which Moore served as an informant.

Trentadue also took issue with the FBI telling the judge that he agreed to receive records at a rate of 500 pages per month, which would mean it would take about 12 years to receive them all. Trentadue explained that he initially was OK with receiving 500 records per month on a rolling basis nearly a decade ago—as opposed to waiting for the FBI to gather all the records and send them in one batch.

“Plaintiff agreed to receiving the document sin 500-page increments on a CD as they were processed, whereby he would not have to wait until all of the records were processed before receiving them,” he explained in his Tuesday filing. “Plaintiff NEVER agreed to the FBI processing the documents at the rate of only 500-pages per month.”

For Trentadue, dealing with DOJ/FBI deception is nothing new. For instance, in a separate lawsuit seeking surveillance footage of the OKC bombing, a federal judge is investigating allegations that the FBI tampered with one of his witnesses. Trentadue referenced that ongoing scandal in his Tuesday response to the FBI.
