U.K. to classify ONLINE MISOGYNY as a national security threat

 

The United Kingdom is set to classify online misogyny – offensive comments against women on the internet – as a national security threat on par with terrorism.

 

Reclaim The Net noted that in the digital era, "it will no longer be enough to treat violence against women as 'simply' a criminal offense" in the United Kingdom. "This is likely to be elevated to the level of terrorism, and a threat to national security," the outlet added.

 

A review of the U.K.'s counter-extremism strategy commissioned by British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper used the terms "extreme misogyny" and "violence against women" interchangeably. According to the Telegraph, the British Home Office (BHO) ranks several categories of extremism as areas of concern. These include Islamism, far-right ideology, animal rights, the environment, and those related to Northern Ireland.

 

Aside from these, the BHO also keeps tabs on the "incel" (involuntary celibate) ideology. But the Telegraphnoted that "officials now fear that this category does not capture other forms of extreme misogyny."

 

Specifically, the review concerns "radicalized teenage boys" who are allegedly falling prey to so-called "misogynistic influencers." Cooper defended the initiative, saying the review was long needed amid existing guidance from the BHO being too narrow. She blamed the internet for this online radicalization supposedly happening to young people.

 

"For too long, governments have failed to address the rise in extremism both online and on our streets, and we've seen the number of young people radicalized online grow," Cooper said. "Hateful incitement of all kinds fractures and frays the very fabric of our communities and our democracy."

 

The review of the BHO's extremism policy, alongside Cooper's comments, followed Metropolitan Police Service Commissioner Mark Rowley's remark that violence against women and girls should be treated as a national security threat.

 

U.K. turning into a 1984-esque police state

According to Reclaim the Net, the U.K. has the so-called Prevent program in place that purportedly aims for early intervention against terrorism. Prevent "works in a similar way to programs designed to safeguard people from other harms, such as gangs, drug abuse, and physical and sexual abuse."

 

"But now apparently those 'similar programs' covering ills other than terrorism will not suffice to tackle violence against women," the outlet added. It warned that teachers, health workers, and local authorities will have to report their suspicions to prevent under the terror category if Cooper's plan is implemented.

 

Moreover, Cooper appears to be planning to clamp down on individuals who "push harmful and hateful beliefs" – including those allegedly having a "fixation on violence." Given the plans of the BHO to tackle online misogyny, it should not be surprising if such a proposal gets traction under Cooper's tenure as home secretary.

 

William Shawcross, British commissioner for public appointments, chided Downing Street for its failure to fully implement his previous proposals to revamp the Prevent program. This failure, according to the Telegraph, arose from an ongoing bias within the program to tackle so-called "right-wing terrorism" instead of Islamic terrorism. Such a failure translated to the public being at higher risk from extremists and terrorists.

 

Cooper's initiative comes amid large-scale protests and riots triggered by the Southport stabbing incident, where Rwandan Axel Rudakubana killed three children and injured 10 other individuals. But instead of prosecuting the perpetrator, the Labor government under new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer chose to blame social media. It has also upped the ante by arresting hundreds for merely exercising their right to speak out both online and in real life.

 

"At this point, it is unclear if this is a case of a politician feeling obligated to appear to be doing something in the wake of the unrest that exposed long-simmering problems in society – or if the 'new approach to countering extremism' will produce practical measures," Reclaim The Net concluded."

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a knife attack at a diversity festival in Germany which killed three people on Friday.

 

ISIS said in a statement on Saturday that one of its members carried out the deadly attack in Solingen, western Germany, 'in revenge for Muslims in Palestine and everywhere'.

 

'The perpetrator of the attack on a gathering of Christians in the city of Solingen in Germany yesterday was a soldier of the Islamic State' group, said a statement from the jihadists' Amaq news agency on the Telegram messaging app.

 

The knifeman, who is still on the run, fatally stabbed two men, aged 67 and 56, and a 56-year-old woman and injured eight others in Fronhof central square at around 9.45pm on August 23.

 

Police have launched a manhunt for the killer while a 15-year-old boy is also being quizzed over claims he knew about the attack hours before, but failed to report it.

 

According to local media, two witnesses claimed to have seen the teen speaking to the attacker before he unleashed his rampage, and said that they heard him say: 'I'm going to stab everyone'.

Remove onion and bell pepper and set aside in a mixing bowl. Brown turkey. In a small bowl, mix 2 teaspoons each of paprika, chili powder, onion powder and garlic powder. Add half of mixture to the turkey while browning. Reserve the other half of mixture to sprinkle over the tots prior to baking. When finished, add the turkey in with the sautéed onion and bell pepper. Add black olives, sweet corn, chilies, taco sauce, 2 cups of cheese, and sour cream. Stir mixture until combined. Pour into a baking dish and sprinkle the remaining 2 cups of cheese on top. Add tots on top of the mixture and cheese. Sprinkle spice mixture on top of tots. Bake in 400 degree oven for 45 minutes or until tots are crispy and golden brown. After removing from the oven, sprinkle with shredded lettuce, green onions and diced tomato. Serve with sour cream, hot sauce, avocado, cilantro or your favorite taco topping.

That line from George Orwell's dystopian novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four" opens U.S. District Judge John Sinatra's order Thursday imposing a preliminary injunction on New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is threatening pro-life pregnancy centers for telling women about so-called abortion pill reversal, as their lawsuit proceeds.

Her office may not enforce state consumer fraud laws against the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), Gianna's House and Options Care Center, which sued in May, for referring to APR, calling it safe and effective or directing people to the APR Hotline and website in their ads, social media and promotional materials.

The injunction is limited to the plaintiffs, represented by the Alliance Defending Freedom.

“Women in New York have literally saved their babies from an in-progress chemical drug abortion because they had access to information through their local pregnancy centers" about the protocol, ADF senior counsel Caleb Dalton said.

ADF told Just the News this was the "first substantial ruling" in the recent spate of Democratic Attorneys General threatening pregnancy centers and chilling their speech, and said it provides a template to other courts hearing similar challenges.

One of the more notable conclusions by Sinatra, nominated by President Trump: He'd issue the injunction even if James were correct that the centers were practicing "commercial speech," a category that receives less constitutional protection.

The Thomas More Society preemptively sued James in upstate Monroe County on behalf of Heartbeat International, CompassCare and members of a "pregnancy help collective" after the AG sent intent-to-sue letters. James then followed through with her own suit in Manhattan.

The state trial judge in the centers' preemptive suit approved their motion to consolidate the two cases in their backyard June 12, previously telling James they would suffer "avoidably unfair logistical disadvantage" in a Manhattan transfer. Her office has appealed.

Advancing American Freedom led an amicus brief with 36 other amici in Consumers’ Research v. Consumer Product Safety Commission urging the Supreme Court to take up the case and rule in favor of Consumers’ Research, restoring the President’s constitutionally established authority over the Executive Branch.

 

“With its recent decision overturning Chevron, the Court rightly reasserted the constitutional authority of its own branch. In this case, it has the opportunity to do the same for the Executive Branch,” said AAF General Counsel J. Marc Wheat.

 

“Over the last century, the powers vested by the Constitution in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the federal government have been slowly and purposely leeched by the Progressive movement into the ‘fourth branch’ administrative state,” Wheat said. “This case will help reverse that process and restore the Constitution’s three co-equal and distinct branches in order to safeguard liberty.”

 

As is the case for several agencies within the administrative state, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is headed by a multimember board, the members of which are protected from presidential removal except in narrow circumstances. As a result, the Commission, which is ostensibly a part of the Executive Branch, operates beyond the control of the person vested by the Constitution with the executive power: the President.

 

Wheat concluded, “We urge the Supreme Court to take up this case and take another important step in the direction of restoring the balance of powers established by the Constitution.”

'Access granted': Biden's free vacation at friend's California mansion draws ire of critics

President Biden wants to establish an enforceable ethics code for Supreme Court justices, but the lame-duck president has been criticized over his own apparent conflicts of interest, including his relationship with friend and billionaire donor Joe Kiani.

 

Following his address at the Democratic National Convention Monday, Biden and his family flew to Santa Ynez, California, to vacation at Kiani's ranch-style estate. The first family is reportedly staying there for free, said White House officials who described Kiani as a "friend," according to the New York Post.

 

Kiani has given Biden's super PAC, foundation and inaugural committee nearly $3 million, according to House Republicans who have taken issue with the relationship. Meanwhile, in September 2021, Kiani won an appointment from Biden to sit on his Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, which advises the executive branch on policy matters involving Kiani’s medical tech business, Masimo. Since Biden took office in January 2021, Masimo has received nearly $3 million in federal contracts, according to Republicans.

 

In addition to his appointment, Kiani received tickets from Biden in 2022 to attend a state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron, the Post reported.The outlet said it granted the billionaire CEO access to trans-Atlantic business officials and other global elites.

 

News of the first family's vacation at Kiani's ranch comes amid Democratic efforts to reshape the Supreme Court, including an enforceable ethics code for justices and term limits. These efforts were largely spurred by Justice Clarence Thomas' relationship with Republican Party donor Harlan Crow.

 

Thomas, who has described Crow as one of his family's "dearest friends," has been under fire from critics for vacationing with Crow and accepting other gifts from him.

 

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment but did not receive a response. The U.S. Office of Government Ethics, which oversees executive branch ethics, declined to comment, telling Fox News Digital it does not "discuss specific individuals or circumstances."

 

"The self-proclaimed most ethical and transparent administration in history strikes again,"said Michael Chamberlain, director of the conservative nonprofit Protect the Public's Trust.

 

"The Biden-Harris EPA is already doling out its Greendoggle billions to organizations with ties to the administration and its political allies. Now, we have this type of arrangement with a donor who has business before the government. Seems to be just how things get done in this administration."

 

In April 2022, a team of 12 House Republicans penned a letter to Shalanda Young, the director of the federal government's Office of Management and Budget. The letter took issue with Biden's relationship with Kiani, noting they want to be sure "political donations are not unduly influencing the Administration’s management of contracts and loans."

 

While the relationship between Kiani and Biden has drawn scrutiny, so have Biden's relationships with other major Democratic Party big wigs.

 

A year ago, billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer opened the doors of his Lake Tahoe mansion to the Biden family. Steyer manages a green energy investment fund that's working to "take advantage" of federal climate change spending provided through Biden's Inflation Reduction Act.

 

The Center for Renewing America, a conservative nonprofit, filed an ethics complaint with the Department of Justice in April, calling on it to investigate Biden for alleged "serious ethical lapses" in failing to disclose free vacations that do not appear to qualify under certain exemptions in the Ethics in Government Act (EIGA). The complaint lays out at least four questionable vacations taken by Biden and his family, including the trip to Lake Tahoe.

 

Other trips mentioned in the complaint include a trip to the South Carolina beachfront mansion of Democratic Party donor Maria Allwin, a stay in Nantucket at private equity founder David Rubenstein's $39 million mansion and a New Years trip to Bill and Connie Neville's private Island property in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

 

The Nevilles were invited to a 2015 state dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping around the time they began sharing their house, according to the complaint. Additionally, in December 2022, the same month Biden stayed at their mansion, the Nevilles were White House guests, attending a state dinner with Macron.

Bidenflation: Poll — Americans Struggle to Care for Their Pets Due to High Price

 

Americans are struggling to take care of their pets as inflation continues hurting the nation under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s leadership, a survey shows.

 

LendingTree surveyed almost 2,000 consumers and found 85 percent of pet owners lamenting that inflation is making prices skyrocket, the site reported Monday.

 

To make matters worse, 37 percent of those surveyed are in debt for their animals. The report continued:

 

Many Americans are getting priced out of owning a pet. Almost a quarter of pet owners (23%) say they’ve considered going petless due to costs, and 39% say they won’t own a pet again in the future. Additionally, 12% of Americans (and 25% of Gen Zers) have surrendered a pet because they could no longer afford to care for it.

 

Owners blame inflation for pet care costs. 85% of pet owners say inflation is making ownership more expensive, with 41% struggling to afford costs. When asked what’s getting more expensive, 76% said pet food, 56% said vet services and 40% said necessary supplies.

 

The survey comes as consumer prices have skyrocketed 20.2 percent since Biden and Harris took office, per the Department of Labor’s Consumer Price Index, as Breitbart News reported on August 15.

 

“Americans continue to feel the strain of runaway inflation. That is the worst inflation record for any president since Jimmy Carter,” the outlet noted.

 

In 2023, a report found that 62 percent of adults in the United States lived paycheck to paycheck. According to PYMNTS and LendingClub:

 

Inflation has made life more and more expensive, and consumers have already made moves to cope, such as pulling back on discretionary expenses. But one can only pull back so far on spending, and PYMNTS’ data reveal that consumers are finding another way to navigate their lower purchasing power.

 

During a speech in Asheville, North Carolina, in August, former President Donald Trump, who is running against Harris for the White House in 2024, said, “Kamala has declared that tackling inflation will be a day-one priority.”

 

“Think about it. For her, day one was three-and-a-half years ago. She says her plan is going to bring down prices. Why didn’t you do it? You’ve been there three-and-a-half years,” he added.

 

Trump then highlighted his vision for the nation. “We will have prosperity, and we will have peace. We will end the era of inflation, mayhem, and misery.”

CAIRO, Aug 23 (Reuters) – Three fires have been observed on board a Greek-flagged oil tanker in the Red Sea, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Friday, one day after it was evacuated by its crew after being attacked by Yemeni Houthi militants.

 

The Houthis, who control Yemen’s most populous regions, said on Thursday that they had attacked the Sounion oil tanker in the Red Sea, as the Iran-aligned group has been attacking ships in solidarity with Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

 

Sounion “belongs to a company that has ties to the Israeli enemy and violated the ban decision of entry to the ports of occupied Palestine,” Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a televised speech.

 

On Friday, UKMTO said in an advisory note that it had received reports of three fires being observed on the vessel, which “appears to be drifting.” Later in the day, the Houthis posted a video on social media that purportedly showed them setting the tanker on fire:

The tanker, which is carrying150,000metric tons of crude oil, now poses an environmental hazard, the EU’s Red Sea naval mission Aspides said on Thursday.

 

The Sounion was the third vessel operated by Athens-based Delta Tankers to be attacked in the Red Sea this month.

 

The attack led to the loss of engine power, according to UKMTO. The vessel was anchored between Yemen and Eritrea, a maritime security source told Reuters on Thursday.

NASA almost didn't have an alternative.

 

They allowed this Starliner mission to fly, knowing there was already at least one helium leak in the thruster system. They let Boeing convince them there was no danger. Mistake.

 

Then, more helium leaks popped up during flight and the thruster system malfunctioned during critical docking maneuvers. Mistake.

 

Starliner will come home unmanned, as if something were to fail during de-orbit and re-entry, two lives are on the line. Finally, NASA is making the right call. If people actually died during this return leg of the mission, Starliner might never fly again. Congress would be calling for investigations, and some might even call for the termination of the Boeing contract for Commercial Crew.

 

If Boeing actually manages to land Starliner, they can claim it was safe all along, and hopefully they have fired the designer of the thruster system and have a new one designed and ready to fly for what will be, obviously, the second chance to fly astronauts before the system is fully certified for regular use. NASA may even require Boeing to fly another unmanned flight test just to certify the thruster system before another human flight attempt.

 

Boeing screwed the pooch big time on this one. NASA saved their bacon long-term by making certain there would be no loss of life on this botched attempt.

I know people who work or have worked for Boeing.

 

The company is not the same as back in the glory days.

 

There was a time when frequent layoffs removed most of what was left of the deep talent pool in the company. Instead of sitting around, hoping layoffs would not affect them, the really talented younger people found other jobs at hopefully more stable companies during economic downturns (thanks Obummer, Clinton, and others). Boeing was left with some talented people, now mostly retired, and some of the new blood that might have raw talent, but did not get the benefit of the knowledge of the people who wisely cashed in and left. Now Boeing is a shell of the company it used to be. They are making big mistakes that could have been avoided if they had retained their best people over the past couple of decades. With all the failures their products have had over the past decade, I'm worried about the long-term viability of the company, itself!
