Trump was never on the golf course that day. It was a canary trap. After Butler, they knew there was a mole inside the Trump Security Detail, and they had a strong suspicion of who it was. Conclusion

Our analysis suggests that global trade has become increasingly fragmented in recent

years due to geopolitical tensions. We find evidence that countries that are more

geopolitically distant tend to trade less with each other, all else equal. The risk this

poses to individual countries varies: countries whose growth depends heavily on trade

with geopolitical adversaries are especially vulnerable. This is not only because they

face a greater need to divert their trade from current trading partners, but also

because they may have more limited options to do so.

Going beyond the analysis in this feature, trade fragmentation is just one aspect

of a more general pattern of international economic interactions being increasingly

shaped by geopolitical considerations, sometimes referred to as “geoeconomic

fragmentation” (Aiyar et al (2023)). In addition to trade, developments in investment

and technology are also fragmenting. IMF (2023) shows that FDI flows are increasingly

concentrated in geopolitically aligned countries, leaving some emerging market and

developing economies especially vulnerable to capital relocation.

Geoeconomic fragmentation has implications for economic welfare. When

geopolitical factors play a stronger role in economic decisions, this comes at the cost

The Indiana Republican last February was quoted by Gabe in the Examiner saying the Biden administration appeared to be “knee deep” in efforts to “crack down” on speech. The Israeli government did not tamper with the Hezbollah devices that exploded, defense and intelligence officials say. It manufactured them as part of an elaborate ruse.

In fact, it was part of an Israeli front, according to three intelligence officers briefed on the operation. They said at least two other shell companies were created as well to mask the real identities of the people creating the pagers: Israeli intelligence officers.

 

B.A.C. did take on ordinary clients, for which it produced a range of ordinary pagers. But the only client that really mattered was Hezbollah, and its pagers were far from ordinary. Produced separately, they contained batteries laced with the explosive PETN, according to the three intelligence officers.

 

The pagers began shipping to Lebanon in the summer of 2022 in small numbers, but production was quickly ramped up after Mr. Nasrallah denounced cellphones.

To Hezbollah, they were a defensive measure, but in Israel, intelligence officers referred to the pagers as “buttons” that could be pushed when the time seemed ripe.

 

That moment, it appears, came this week.

Speaking to his security cabinet on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would do whatever was necessary to enable more than 70,000 Israelis driven away by the fighting with Hezbollah to return home, according to reports in Israeli news outlets. Those residents, he said, could not return without “a fundamental change in the security situation in the north,” according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.

 

On Tuesday, the order was given to activate the pagers.

 

To set off the explosions, according to three intelligence and defense officials, Israel triggered the pagers to beep and sent a message to them in Arabic that appeared as though it had come from Hezbollah’s senior leadership.

 

Seconds later, Lebanon was in chaos.

House votes to block Biden-Harris admistration EV mandate

 

The House on Friday passed a resolution blocking the EPA's tailpipe emission standards.

 

The vote was 215-191, with eight Democrats joining Republicans in passing the measure.

The Metropolitan Crime Commission said this is the longest we have gone without a murder since it started tracking murders in 2019.

Rafael Goyeneche said, "No one is declaring victory and saying we can go home and celebrate. We have had some streaks where we had 10, 12, and 15 days, but never 18."

Goyeneche said an uptick in proactive policing, more state police presence along with more arrests and traffic stops are all contributing factors.

Community advocate Sess 4-5 said, "I think a lot of people in this city have been impacted by crime. And a lot of that crime is economic, the poverty here in the city."

The decrease is noticeable to those who work every day in the community.

Sess 4-5 organized Youth Day in New Orleans, trying to give the youth and community a positive outlet.

Sess 4-5 said more than two weeks without a murder is a start.

"The reality is we have to come together as a whole and make life better for everyone. Not just the people in the Garden District, not just the folks in the French Quarter," Sess 4-5 said.

Experts said youth murders are also down by 71%. School leaders like Jamar McKneely with InspireNOLA said new initiatives like NOLALOVE have also helped.

At one point, the Charter network lost two to three students a year to gun violence.

"The mental health that our youth are experiencing. The trauma our youth are experiencing. We are trying to use love and NolaLOVE as a healing experience," McKneely said.

The hope is to keep this momentum going.

"The goal is to have zero homicides — that's the goal. We probably, unfortunately, are never going to achieve it. No city is, but it's a goal worth working towards," Goyeneche said.

Controversial tech magnate Elon Musk stepped up his political giving in August, giving his largest-known political donation ever to boost House Republicans’ efforts to preserve their vulnerable majority.

The National Republican Congressional Committee reported receiving $289,100 from Musk in August, according to its report filed with the Federal Election Commission Friday. The money came through a joint fundraising committee linked to Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.), the filing indicated, and most of it was earmarked for the NRCC’s convention and headquarters accounts, as is typical for donations of that amount.

Musk — the richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of over $250 billion — has given to both Democrats and Republicans in the past, but not in such significant amounts.

Musk has amped up his political involvement in recent months. He has forged a relationship with former President Donald Trump, whom he is assisting by bankrolling America PAC, a pro-Trump outside group. The organization, which has undergone a leadership shuffle in recent months, is expected to play a major role in helping to turn out voters for the former president and recently began spending in competitive House races across the country as well.

It is likely that Musk has given more to America PAC than the NRCC. The super PAC, which can accept unlimited amounts from individual donors, is due to disclose its financial activity for the third quarter of this year on Oct. 15, which will give a clearer picture of how much Musk has given to the group.

And in another indication of his stepped-up political involvement, Musk has hired a political gatekeeper, longtime Republican operative Chris Young. Young’s hiring was first reported by The New York Times.

How much money Musk ends up investing in the election remains an open question. In July, the Wall Street Journal reported that he planned to donate around $45 million a month to help Trump. Musk, however, later denied the report.

Despite the influx of cash from Musk, the NRCC raised just $9.7 million in August, compared to $22.2 million raised by its Democratic counterpart.

Do you understand I have been warning about this for years now and went through 7 months of pure agony, not sleeping for as much as ten days; do you know what that does to your heart? I have always been mocked on the board but I know how devasting these attacks are and which is why I persisted; to save others the same suffering. They will never ever stop attacking, I know by experience, and they have energy weapons that most are just not of aware of. I gave the best remedies which took me years to figure out. Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has hired a Republican operative with expertise in field organizing to help steer his political work, a move that suggests that Mr. Musk is preparing to become even more involved in Republican politics and get-out-the-vote efforts specifically.

Chris Young, most recently a senior political official at PhRMA, the trade association of the pharmaceutical industry that does some grass-roots organizing, is joining Mr. Musk’s team, according to three people briefed on the move. They spoke on condition of anonymity because it was not public.

The hire reflects a less whimsical approach to political involvement for Mr. Musk. The Tesla, X and SpaceX leader has been a mercurial political and philanthropic donor for years, frustrating some in the conservative movement. He has just a few key relationships in Washington: Mr. Musk is particularly close with Kevin McCarthy, the former speaker of the House, who himself is close with Mr. Young professionally.

Mr. Young has worked for the trade group since 2020 after rising through the ranks of Republican field organizing. A native of Louisiana, he began his career working as a field organizer for former Gov. Bobby Jindal’s operation before becoming the national field director for the Republican National Committee during the 2016 cycle.

Mr. Young was once the head of Engage Texas, a voter-registration nonprofit in the state funded by major Republican donors. Field organizing has been a priority of Mr. Musk, who like Mr. Young lives in Texas, during his recent foray into campaign politics. Mr. Musk, for instance, at one point privately dismissed television advertising and argued that donors should simply fund programs that convince voters, two at a time, to back Mr. Trump.

Mr. Young declined to comment. Mr. Musk and Jared Birchall, the head of Excession, Mr. Musk’s family office, did not return a request for comment.

Political “donor-advisers” function as both gatekeepers and consiglieres, and ultrarich donors typically hire them when they are preparing to make significant political contributions over the long term.

Part of Mr. Young’s job will be to serve as Mr. Musk’s eyes and ears at a super PAC that Mr. Musk started but has undergone some turbulence. America PAC is focused on Republican voter turnout, but the group effectively shelved its entire field operation after just a few weeks, following the super PAC’s hiring of a powerful Republican consulting firm. The group’s new leadership has since restarted its field program.

Gee, what a bummer. I missed Kamala Harris's star turn with Oprah because I was busy looking for pipe stretchers at Home Depot, but the show found me, so here I am writing about it when I should be downing the first Bombay Sapphire martini of the last weekend of summer. Yes, a gin martini; deal with it.

 

Summer is fleeting, so let's just get this out of the way now so I can go find the shaker. More and more people have less and less certainty that Kamala Harris owns the gun she's claimed to own only three times in her decades of public life.

 

Fewer still think she's ever fired a pistol, much less a rifle and fewer still believe she's been to a range, loaded a magazine, or knows the difference between a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol.

Harris mentioned she owned a gun for the first time during the 2019 campaign when she bugged out of the race before any votes were cast. She very reasonably said that she owned a gun because she had been a prosecutor. Obviously, a prosecutor needs protection. If I had to guess, I'd be willing to wager that Willie Brown told her to gun up because San Francisco and Oakland are dangerous places. Things have only gotten worse, thanks in part to Kamala.

 

There's no evidence to suggest that anyone in the media ever asked her if she had a concealed carry license, which was next to impossible to acquire in California at the time. Though things have changed in California and the rest of the country, thanks to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, only the rich, famous, and connected could get concealed carry licenses at the time. The proletariat was subject to the whims of the state's "may issue" vicissitudes.

 

Kamala mentioned her alleged gun again at the ABC curb-stomping of Donald Trump, after which I expressed surprise that the same lady who wants to send police to inspect homeowners' gun safety owned a gun. Really?

 

But there was radio silence about the topic again until she spoke to Oprah Winfrey and proclaimed love for the Second Amendment, and talked about her gun ownership again.

 

“I’m a gun owner," she brayed. "If someone breaks in my house, they’re getting shot. Sorry." She added, "I probably should not have said that. Hahaha! My staff will deal with that later. Hahaha!”

 

What a tough guy.

 

Sadly, Oprah didn't ask the obvious follow-up question: "Who's gonna shoot 'em, you or the Secret Service?"

Since I became aware of the gun story I've tried to keep my powder dry and give Kamala the benefit of the doubt. But the powder is wet and sloppy now. It looks like Kamala owns a mysterious and invisible gun—it's a ghost gun.

 

Our colleagues at Twitchy are skeptical of Kamala's ghost gun. Townhall's Katie Pavlich asked, "You know how I know Kamala's claim of 'being a gun owner'is totally fake and disingenuous? This, [exchange with Oprah] right here."

 

"The last thing a gun owner wants is for someone to come into their home and for them to have to defend their life with a firearm. It isn't funny. It's terrifying and a life altering experience," Pavlich explained. She was put off by Harris's flippant attitude. "She laughs about it and says things responsible gun owners don't say."

 

And then she dropped rolled this blast grenade into the conversation: "Further, if you've done any kind of self defense education or training you know an attorney would tell you to never say this. I find this attitude revolting."

In a bit of surprise drive-by journalism, CNN's Jim Acosta asked a Harris aide, "Can you give us any more information about this gun Kamala allegedly owns? Any information at all? When did she get it?" Harris adviser and spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod responded, "Uh, I can't really comment."

ThankQ so much for this anon, I must have missed this and this does sound right because I have reported that they have lights that are plasma in nature, especially on vehicles that they can turn on and off to keep under the radar.
