Anon questions specifics about the TX church shootout.

1 Most churches have security cameras on the outside as well as inside. There'd be some footage.

2 The church 'security' detail shot at the possible shooters, yet the shooters were able to run to their vehicle and drive off (no license plate number, no doorbell footage from surrounding houses and/or storefronts in the area)

3 The bad guys had turbans on so that makes them isis/al queda? Anon thinks this is a scam

 

Anon thinks if this did occur as reported, that security detail needs to step down for not hitting any of their targets. Anon has tried to offer training but the replies were "if God deems it to happen, it is to happen" referring to if a shooter were to come in and shoot up their congregation.

Do not assume power will be back on so quick. I didn't have power for 4 months after Andrew. Andrew 24. Our area got power back right before Christmas.

 

Power companies focus on restoring to critical areas first, hospitals, first responders, key gov't.

 

Then areas with the most population and least amount of electrical infrastructure damage.

 

Over the course of MANY weeks….

End of week one my area. Crews w/ chain saws opened up small path thru the trees for the power crews to get thru.

Then the assessment teams came thru

Next they came thru and hazmat double bagged transformers (older ones have PCBs).

Next came the crews to remove downed/broken wooden poles, and where needed the wires.

Next came crew to install new poles.

Then they installed the new transformers on the poles.

Then they hoisted up the wires.

In late December, they came to each house to inform they were going to turn the power on, depending on the amount of damage to the house. After the meter was re-installed, each circuit breaker was turn on one at a time.

 

I know that there were times when problems with power plants far north of Turkey Point nuclear power plant (Homestead) caused brownouts in Miami, and that was years before Andrew and the population explosion in the whole state of FL.

 

Another thing…. there are only so many crews that can come in from other states to restore the grid. Where are those crews right now? HELENE.

FL Panhandle. FL west coast line. Georgia. NC. TN. With NC/TN with catastrophic levels of damage to the grid in videos.

 

They are already stretched thin.

 

Next - look at LAKE OKEECHOBEE. The drinking water source for S. Florida.

Dike around it is 30' high, last updated in 1960s. Current water level is already at the max 15.5……….. and they have the canal flood gates wide open thru then entire southern portion of the state. If there is a breach in the dike - all those homes and neighborhoods south built on the drained FL swamp….

Pray there isn't a disaster in the dike. If so, have to wonder about sabotage.

 

Just east and south of Lake Okeechobee. That is all really low swampy land. West Palm Beach, big $ homes. The horse show grounds, polo grounds. It was swampy right on the edges during the drier years.

 

They've built west far in the natural FL Everglades natural swamp area all the way down to Homestead.

The Long Tails Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS

 

A bright comet is moving into the evening skies. C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) has brightened and even though it is now easily visible to the unaided eye, it is so near to the Sun that it is still difficult to see. Pictured, Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS was captured just before sunrise from an Andes Mountain in Peru. Braving cold weather, this unusually high perch gave the astrophotographer such a low eastern horizon that the comet was obvious in the pre-dawn sky. Visible in the featured image is not only an impressively long dust tail extending over many degrees, but an impressively long and blue ion tail, too. This month, as the comet moves out from the Sun and passes the Earth, evening observers should be able to see the huge dirty ice ball toward the west just after sunset.

With over 34 years of experience in human spaceflight, Mark Sonoda has witnessed some of NASA’s most pivotal moments, from the startup of the International Space Station to the retirement of the space shuttle.

As the acting associate program manager for the Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development Program (CLDP), he is set to help guide NASA through another monumental period: the commercialization of space.

 

Sonoda’s new role grants extraordinary opportunities to shape the future of human spaceflight.

While NASA has maintained a leading presence in low Earth orbit since 1961, Sonoda shared how CLDP is “working to establish commercial low Earth orbit destinations owned and operated by private companies, where NASA is just one of many customers.

This shift will open doors to even more advancements and benefits for humanity.”

 

Sonoda plans to leverage his decades of experience to support the growth of CLDP as it moves from early planning stages into a more operational phase.

Specifically, he will apply his expertise in systems engineering and leadership to helping certify commercial destinations in low Earth orbit.

One of his priorities is ensuring that the program team is set up for success with the right personnel, infrastructure, and resources to be successful as it grows.

 

Sonoda’s NASA experience has offered him many valuable lessons, the most important of which is the power of teamwork.

He recalls a time when, as a station training lead, he realized that even the most well-prepared plans benefit from team collaboration.

“A good team will always be stronger than an individual,” he shared, noting that the strength of NASA lies in its collective effort.

 

Looking ahead, Sonoda anticipates exciting opportunities to foster commercial partnerships.

He is particularly optimistic that increased access to space for private companies and individuals will cultivate new innovations and public interest in space exploration.

Catholic Charities said it is planning to bring more migrants to the area.

SpaceX, NASA stand down from Oct. 10 Europa Clipper launch due to Hurricane Milton

We'll have to wait a bit longer to see NASA's Europa Clipper probe get off the ground.

The $5 billion Europa Clipper mission had been scheduled to launch on Thursday (Oct. 10) atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC), on Florida's Atlantic Coast.

 

But Hurricane Milton has nixed that plan.

"NASA and SpaceX are standing down from the Thursday, Oct. 10, launch attempt of the agency's Europa Clipper mission due to anticipated hurricane conditions in the area," NASA officials wrote in an update on Sunday (Oct. 6).

 

"Hurricane Milton is expected to move from the Gulf of Mexico this week, moving east to the Space Coast," they added.

"High winds and heavy rain are expected in the Cape Canaveral and Merritt Island regions on Florida's east coast."

Launch teams have secured the probe inside SpaceX's hangar at KSC's historic Launch Complex 39A.

The rest of the NASA center has begun preparing for Hurricane Milton's arrival as well, NASA officials said.

 

"The safety of launch team personnel is our highest priority, and all precautions will be taken to protect the Europa Clipper spacecraft," Tim Dunn, senior launch director at NASA's Launch Services Program, said in the update.

It's too early to predict when Clipper will be able to fly, but the mission has a fair bit of time: Its launch window extends through Nov. 6.

"Once we have the 'all-clear' followed by facility assessment and any recovery actions, we will determine the next launch opportunity for this NASA flagship mission," Dunn said.

 

If all goes according to plan, Clipper will reach the Jupiter system in 2030.

The probe will orbit the gas giant but study Europa — which is thought to harbor a huge ocean of liquid water beneath its icy shell — up close over dozens of flybys.

Clipper will use its nine science instruments to characterize that ocean, helping to assess Europa's potential to host life was we know it.

The probe's observations will also help scientists identify good potential landing sites for a life-hunting mission to Europa's surface, which NASA aims to launch in the not-too-distant future.

Scientists discover that sand on Mars and the Moon can be turned into building blocks for space settlements

Researchers at Trinity College Dublin have found a way to convert Martian and lunar sand into solid bricks, which should aid in building future settlements on other planets.

The team developed a method to bind regolith - the loose rocks, sand, and dust found on the surface of Mars and the Moon - using carbon nanotubes.

This process requires low temperatures and minimal energy, making it highly efficient for space applications.

 

Despite their relatively low density, these blocks display strength approaching that of granite.

In fact, the strongest bricks produced by this method have a compressive strength of 100 MPa, which is higher than some of the best terrestrial concretes.

 

One of the key advantages of these regolith-based bricks is their electrical conductivity.

This allows them to serve as internal sensors, monitoring the structural health of extraterrestrial buildings.

In simple terms, they can detect early warning signs of what was thought to be an airtight structure in space starting to fail.

 

The implications of this research extend beyond space exploration.

The scientists believe their findings could have practical applications for the construction industry on Earth.

By incorporating a similar nanomaterial called graphene into concrete, its strength could be increased by up to 40 percent.

 

This could lead to a significant reduction in the quantity of concrete needed for construction, potentially lowering pollution from the concrete manufacturing industry, which currently accounts for about 8 percent of global CO2 emissions.

 

Previous research has also explored the possibility of using lunar regolith to create bricks for cosmic construction projects.

A few years ago, a team of University of Central Florida researchers found that bricks made of lunar regolith and saltwater could help NASA establish a long-term presence on the Moon by building a base camp that includes a modern lunar cabin, rover and mobile home.

 

Associate Professor Ranajay Ghosh of UCF's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, along with his research group, created 3D-printed bricks of lunar regolith that are able to withstand the extreme environments of space.

 

To create the bricks, Ghosh's team used a combination of 3D printing and binder jet technology (BJT), an additive manufacturing method that forces out a liquid binding agent – in this case saltwater – onto a bed of powder.

 

"Constructing a semi-permanent base on the moon or Mars will require maximal use of materials found in-situ and minimization of materials and equipment transported from Earth," said Jonathan Coleman, who leads the Trinity College project.

"This will mean a heavy reliance on regolith and water, supplemented by small quantities of additives fabricated on Earth."

Joe Biden, the placeholder-in-chief, showed up in Georgia [10-3-24] to give lip-service to the disaster and made promises of money to come, some twenty million dollars, and a recovery that will supposedly be totally undertaken by the federal government. No one should hold their breath waiting on that help to arrive, but if it does, they can bet the farm it will come with the intent of helping Biden special interest groups and supporters first.

 

Americans should note: $20 million for the victims of Helene and well over $640 million for illegal aliens and approximately $180 BILLION for Ukraine. When does THIS Damned MADNESS Stop!?!

 

It’s an astounding matter that despite assertions of nineteen thousand National Guardsmen and FEMA workers already being on the ground in those states most severely affected, from Florida to Tennessee and Georgia and on to the horrific situation near Asheville, North Carolina, no one can find them, as FEMA workers are simply sitting in their trucks and sending out mass emails with an app for the victims of Helene to use to apply for financial help, rebuilding their homes, and most importantly finding a way to have food and water and medicines sent their way as soon as possible — THIS in areas where there currently isn’t electricity or any cellphone reception and internet.

 

It’s a curious thing to witness this tragic situation compounded by the inaction of the federal government and federal workers, agencies and the U.S. military all missing in action as the victims keep asking where all these mysterious government workers are supposedly delivering aid and much needed necessities to anyone.

 

Where is the federal government? No one has seen much of an inkling from it yet.

 

This is beyond unconscionable once one considers that the 82nd Airborne can be up and on their way to any hotspot in the world between eight and eighteen hours. It’s simply a lack of a president and any leadership in the federal government, as one should note that in 1990, a brigade of the 82nd Airborne was deployed to Saudi Arabia after Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in less than three days, followed by all the armaments of a full division, including light armor, within the week.

 

Adding insult to injury, all America heard Joe Biden say his regime has “done all we can do” in regard to this crisis and the misery the victims of Hurricane Helene are enduring, as the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas — the biggest anti-American traitor next to Biden — told the country that the money for FEMA to respond had simply run out for the fiscal year, after FEMA has spent more than $1.4 BILLION since the fall of 2022 to provide necessities for illegal alien invaders. Once having proved to the world that cloud seeding works,Israel no longer seeds to add water to the Sea of Galilee, its primary source of fresh water. This is a scientific story that has taken almost 60 years to play out.

 

Arthur L. Rangno, retiree, Research Scientist IV, Cloud and Aerosol Research Group, University of Washington, Seattle. Recipient in 2005 with Prof. Peter V. Hobbs of a small monetary award adjudicated by the World Meteorological Organization for studies in weather modification/cloud seeding.

 

 

ABSTRACT

 

The Israeli seeding program is traced from its modern inception in 1961 to the pinnacle of success it achieved after the statistically-significant results of the first two randomized experiments, Israel-1 and Israel-2, had been reported and how the early “ripe for-seeding” cloud reports laid the foundation for the virtually unanimous view that those experiments had provided proof that cloud seeding had significantly increased rainfall.

 

The peak was followed by an erosion of status that began with a cloud reports at variance with those of the experimenters in 1988 followed by the full reporting of Israel-2 crossover result in 1990 which revealed a null result. It had not repeated the apparent crossover success of the Israel-1 experiment. Moreover, reports for a third, 20 year long randomized experiment, Israel-3, in the early1990s suggested rain had been decreased due to seeding by 9%. This fall in status was accelerated when independent re-analyses of Israel-1 and 2 appeared in 1995 and a second independent reanalysis for the north target of Israel-2 in 2010 all of which found strong evidence of null results in these experiments.

 

Two independent evaluations of the operational seeding program that began for Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) in 1975, found no indications that runoff had been increased by seeding. The program was terminated as a new randomized experiment, Israel-4 began.

 

The null results reported in these experiments and the operational seeding are supported by cloud studies over the past 30 years indicating that the clouds of Israel are generally unsuitable for seeding due to their high precipitating efficiency and the high temperatures (>-10°C) at which ice onsets in them.

 

A final seven season randomized experiment, Israel-4, conducted in the mountainous regions of the Golan Heights, ended in 2020 with a null result; no viable increase in rainfall had occurred on seeded days.

A half-forgotten UN convention can be dusted down to mitigate tensions over modifications of climate and weather

While climate change has been dominating the international agenda in recent years, efforts to influence the weather and reflect solar heat have received less scrutiny despite their potential to increase regional tensions.

 

Countries are increasingly using technology to change conditions in the atmosphere, oceans and ice to improve weather to their advantage or lessen global warming. However, the results of these interventions can cross borders and what may be good for one country may not be good for its neighbours.

 

China plans to be able to modify weather over half its territory by 2025

 

This is not a hypothetical problem. Iran has already accused Israel of stealing its water by using cloud-seeding that reduces rainfall over its territory. China, which already artificially alters its weather over major cities, plans to be able to modify weather over half its territory by 2025, to the alarm of neighbours including India. And two Middle East rivals – the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia – are scaling up rain-making operations.

 

The best mechanism for policing such interventions can be found in a UN convention that dates back to the end of the Vietnam war. The Convention on the Prohibition of Military or Any Other Hostile Use of Environmental Modification Techniques, known as the ENMOD Convention, came into force in 1978 and has been ratified by 78 countries, including Russia, the United States, Britain, China and Germany.

 

The convention was hammered out between the Cold War superpowers following ethical concerns about Operation Popeye – a classified cloud-seeding programme carried out by the US Air Force from 1967-1972 to extend the monsoon season in Vietnam and Laos so roads would be flooded, hampering Viet Cong military movements. Civilian lives, local food production and private property can be damaged or destroyed by this indiscriminate technology when used in conflict.

 

As the planet rapidly warms, there is an urgent need to revisit ENMOD. The agreement states in Article I that signatories are ‘not to engage in military or any other hostile use of environmental modification techniques having widespread, long-lasting or severe effects as the means of destruction, damage or injury to any other State Party’. The ‘or’ is important. All three criteria – widespread, long-lasting, severe – need not be met and many weather- and climate-modifying technologies meet at least one criterion.

ENMOD’s Article II outlines which environmental modification technology is covered by the convention. Here again a wide net is cast. It includes ‘any technique for changing – through the deliberate manipulation of natural processes – the dynamics, composition or structure of the earth, including its biota, lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere, or of outer space’. This would cover all weather- and climate-modifying technology currently in use.

 

The most ambiguous part of the convention – which needs updating and clarification – is the matter of intent. The use of this technology for military or hostile ends is strictly prohibited and violations can be referred to the UN Security Council. ‘Peaceful purposes’ are, however, allowed.

 

But what happens when it is used with purportedly peaceful intent yet causes harm to a neighbouring country?

 

This question is all the more difficult as communities and countries look to weather modification and geoengineering to help protect themselves from the worst effects of global warming. Hostile and peaceful intended uses of this technology can become muddled.

 

The technology falls, generally, into three categories with different objectives: fertilizing the ocean to increase its uptake of carbon; brightening clouds or ice to reflect more sunlight back into space and thus reduce global or local warming; or the most common technology – as seen in agricultural communities or ski resorts – of injecting aerosols into the stratosphere to increase rainfall or snow, or to modify a storm.

 

Such operations are already under way in more than 50 countries, according to the World Meteorological Organization. Mexico’s Air Force, for example, has begun cloud-seeding in the past 12 months. The Arctic Ice Project, an NGO, intends to deploy small hollow glass beads, composed of silicon dioxide, across parts of the Arctic Sea’s ice and in the Arctic Ocean to increase reflectivity and slow global warming. Australian universities are piloting a salt spray over the Great Barrier Reef to reflect more of the sun’s heat in an attempt to conserve the reef.

 

Scientists are plagued, however, by the complexities of understanding the technology’s direct impact and its knock-on effects. In the case of cloud brightening – a type of solar radiation management – there is uncertainty over how it might adversely affect ecological systems, agriculture and global warming.

 

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) notes that cloud brightening risks depleting the planet’s ozone layer and affecting regional weather patterns, while doing nothing to reduce ocean acidification. Moreover, for cloud brightening to effectively reduce global warming, it would need to be sustained through wars, economic crashes and technological glitches. Any prolonged interruption would see global warming ricochet up.

 

In the case of cloud-seeding, there is uncertainty about adverse impacts on neighbouring countries, some of which are already coping with food or water security – concerns that will grow for many as the changing climate alters the distribution, predictability and amount of precipitation.

 

Three aspects of the technology’s use have particular security implications. First, the threat that its deployment in one area could affect another. Second, the difficulty in distinguishing harmful effects on neighbouring countries from insignificant ones. Last, the ease with which the technology’s use could be claimed as peaceful yet be covertly applied to harm an adversary.

As countries deploy this technology, there are questions over which international framework is best suited to control it in the context of climate and security.

 

The answer is ENMOD.

 

Other UN conventions and forums on the environment and climate, such as the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the UN Environment Assembly, the IPCC and the UN Biodiversity Convention are essential to address various aspects of climate change. UN bodies such as the UN Security Council, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and the International Law Commission are also essential in addressing how security affects climate and vice versa.

 

None of these, however, are mandated to address the use of environment technologies as a weapon. Only the ENMOD Convention has this mandate.

 

The timing is propitious as well. Article VIII of ENMOD requires the UN Secretary-General every 10 years to check with parties to the convention on the need to review the convention. That time is at hand.

 

After review failures in 2002 and 2013, the UN Secretary-General is obliged to inquire again with parties no later than 2023. If at least 10 respond positively, the Secretary-General is required to convene a review conference.

 

Secretary-General António Guterres should utilize the soft power of his office to urge parties to support a robust review of the convention. He should encourage more countries to join the convention, as ever more adopt environment modifying technology.

 

It is also crucial that the convention be updated to reflect a common and contemporary understanding of ‘peaceful’ and ‘hostile’ intent.

 

In the face of climate change, countries need first and foremost to reduce emissions and support climate adaptation. Simultaneously, however, they need to attend to the security implications of geoengineering and weather modification. Dusting off ENMOD is the place to start

Even a broken clock is right twice a day; that’s what they say about people who are supposed to be crackpots. It’s the idea that there is a moment in time when even the most outlandish contention, the most eccentric point of view, the most unlikely person, somehow lines up with shifting reality to produce, however fleetingly, what many perceive to be the truth.

 

But to accept the notion of the “broken clock” is to embrace the established, rationalist parameters of time, 24 hours a day, day after day, years arranged in ascending numerical order, decade after decade, eon upon eon, a forever forward march to an undetermined future, world without end, amen.

 

For some people, people like the late Milton William (Bill) Cooper, collector of clocks, time did not work that way. American shortwave talk‐show host, author, and lecturer during the millennial period of the late 1980s onward to the advent of the current century, Bill Cooper chose not to adhere to the mandated linear passage of existence. For Cooper, the entire span of time — the beginning, the middle, and the end — was all equally important, but there could be no doubt where the clock had stopped. A minute to midnight, that was Bill Cooper’s time.

 

This wasn’t because Cooper, a voracious reader and self‐schooled savant, was anti‐science or anti‐intellectual. He believed in evolution and, like his philosophical hero Aristotle, Cooper treasured the supremacy of knowledge and its acquisition. He had a massive collection of jazz records. But somewhere along the way, dating at least back to his service as river-boat captain in a hot zone during the Vietnam War, Cooper came to believe that something wasn’t right. What he’d always accepted as truth, what he was willing to give his life to protect, wasn’t true at all. It was part of a vast web of lies that stretched back through the centuries, contrived to rob the common man of his unalienable right to know the reality of his place on the planet. It was a deep-seated conviction that became an obsession — and a potent bridge to the current environment, where no one seems to believe anything they’re told, where long-respected bastions of truth are thought to be so corrupt as to be what Donald Trump calls “the enemy of the people.” The idea of “fake news,” along with personages like Alex Jones and QAnon (notably influenced by Cooper) are not unprecedented in American life. But none of them would have manifested as they have without Bill Cooper as an immediate predecessor.

 

Cooper sought to dramatize the compounding urgency of the moment on The Hour of the Time, the radio program he broadcast from 1992 until November 2001, his resonant, sometimes folksy, sometimes fulminating voice filling the airwaves via satellite hookups and shortwave frequencies. Nearly every episode of The Hour of the Time began the same way, with the show’s singular opening, one of the most arresting sign‐ons in radio history. It starts with a blaring air‐raid siren, a blast in the night. This is followed by a loud, distorted electronic voice: “Lights out!” comes the command, as if issued from a penitentiary guard tower. “Lights out for The Hour of the Time!…Lights out for the curfew of your body, soul, and mind.” Dogs bark, people shriek, the bleat of the still half‐sleeping multitudes. There is the sound of tramping jackbooted feet, growing louder, closing in.

 

Now is the time, a minute to midnight, 60 seconds before enslavement, one last chance. Some citizens will rise, if only from not-quite‐yet‐atrophied muscle memory. They will shake themselves awake as their forebears once did at Lexington and Concord, heeding Paul Revere’s immortal call. They will defend their homes, families, and the last shreds of the tattered Constitution, the most close‐to‐perfect political document ever produced.

 

The vast majority, however, won’t even get out of bed. Some will cower under the covers, but most will simply roll over and go back to sleep. They slept through life, so why not sleep through death?

Blue Origin will debut a new spacecraft on Monday (Oct. 7), and you can watch the action live.

Jeff Bezos' aerospace company plans to launch its uncrewed NS-27 mission Monday morning, sending its New Shepard rocket-capsule combo on a brief trip to suborbital space.

It will be the first mission for this particular vehicle, according to Blue Origin.

 

NS-27 will launch from the company's West Texas site during a window that opens at 12:10 p.m. EDT (1610 GMT; 11:10 a.m. local Texas time).

Coverage will begin at 11:55 a.m. EDT (1555 GMT).

 

NS-27 will mark the debut of the second human-rated New Shepard vehicle, which consists of a first stage known as Booster 5 and a crew capsule named RSS Kármán Line.

(The Kármán line is the 62-mile-high boundary that many people regard as the start of outer space.)

 

"The vehicle features technology upgrades to improve the vehicle's performance and reusability, an updated livery and accommodations for payloads on the booster," Blue Origin wrote in a statement today (Oct. 4).

 

No people will go up on NS-27, but the mission will fly 12 research payloads, five of them on the booster and seven inside the capsule.

This gear includes new navigation systems developed for New Shepard and Blue Origin's huge New Glenn rocket, as well as two LIDAR (light detection and ranging) sensors designed to operate in the lunar environment, according to Blue Origin.

 

As its name suggests, NS-27 will be the 27th New Shepard mission overall. Eight of the vehicle's 26 flights to date have been crewed, sending up to six people at a time on brief trips to the final frontier.

 

Those eight crewed flights have all used the same New Shepard vehicle — the Booster 4/RSS First Step combo.

This second human-rated spacecraft will enable "expanded flight capacity to better meet growing customer demand," the company wrote in today's statement.
