Apparently, the Bush's and Hinckley's were in the oil buisness together. The dinner was cancelled. The next day, while GHWB was in a plane over Ft. Worth, John W. Hinckley shot Reagan.

Eastern Europe is on the move, with some heads of state bucking the globalist trends emanating from Brussels and Strasbourg.

 

The BBB format – meaning Belgrade, Bratislava and Budapest – has gathered, with Serbia’s Aleksandar Vucic, Slovak Roberto Fico and Hungarian Viktor Orbán showing a unified front on many issues, from migration to the war in Ukraine.

 

The three leaders affirmed today their efforts to curb illegal migration into the European Union, once again stating that ‘protecting the bloc’s external borders was the best defense’ and that more EU funds were needed for this work.

 

The illegal crossings through the western Balkans fell 79% year-on-year to just under 17,000 in the 2024.

“Meeting in Komarno, Slovakia, on the Hungarian border, the leaders praised their efforts to cut the number of migrants, mainly from the Middle East and Africa, who have come via the ‘Balkan route’ through Serbia and into the EU via Hungary.”

 

Migrants typically don’t stop in these countries, moving on to richer countries in western Europe, like Germany.

 

“Illegal migration remains a political problem across Europe nearly a decade after the crisis in 2015, when around 1 million people arrived in the bloc. Arrivals last year were around a third of that figure.”

 

EU leaders have agreed last week on charting a tighter policy to speed up returns of illegals.

 

Orban and Fico are some of the harshest critics of EU migration policy.

 

“’We were right when we said very clearly at the beginning of the migration crisis that the basis of the fight against illegal migration is the protection of external EU borders’, Fico said, calling the fight against illegal migration a priority.”

 

They think that a substantial part of the EU budget after 2027 should be devoted to fighting the serious threat of illegal migration.

 

“Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Serbia has seen 80% fewer migrants this year.

 

After 2015, Hungary erected a heavily guarded fence on its southern border and Orban has clashed with Brussels over migration policies. He said asylum applications must be assessed before someone is allowed to enter the EU, saying this model, used in Hungary, was the only one that worked.”

 

Hotspots for migrant processing could be set up in places like Africa, and this could be, Vucic said.

We will continue to work together, and I believe that the results will be good’, said Vučić. ‘At the moment, there are only 477 migrants in the reception centers of the Republic of Serbia. We will, of course, continue to do our work in the interest of Europe and our friends, our brothers in Hungary and Slovakia’.”

The issue at hand is whether Jan. 6 defendant Couy Griffin could argue that he was unaware of "knowingly" breaching a Secret-Service-protected permitter and the government did not conclusively prove that Griffin was aware of the restrictions in place at the time of riots.

 

In a 2-1 ruling, Judges Cornelia Pillard and Judith Rogers decided the trespassing law being adjudicated was passed to bolster security for Secret Service protectees. At the time of the riot on Jan. 6, 2021, former Vice President Mike Pence was inside the Capitol, therefore the grounds were under heightened Secret Service restriction.

 

The court ruled that requiring the Justice Department's prosecutors to prove that trespassers were aware of the Secret Service protectee's location would "impair the Secret Service's ability to protect its charges."

 

"The government was not required to prove that Griffin was aware that the Vice President's presence was the reason the grounds remained restricted," Pillard wrote, joined by Rogers. "A person trespassing on grounds he knows are restricted, where he knows he lacks permission to be, may be convicted of a federal misdemeanor trespass — even if he does not know that a Secret Service protectee is within."

 

Griffin had argued that the law was so broad in scope that it could be used to punish anyone who steps into a restricted area simply to shorten the distance between two places.

 

The judges said the purpose of the law was aimed at "a small subset of trespassing offenses that implicate both the personal security of the most high-profile federal officials — and also, necessarily, the national security of the United States."

 

The ruling gives the Justice Department's prosecutors some solace following months of rulings that have slowly negated hundreds of cases it had brought against the protestors of Jan. 6.

 

Yet, the lone dissent issued by Judge Gregory Katsas likely increases the chances that the Supreme Court will eventually take up the issue.

 

The outlet noted that if the Supreme Court narrows the scope of the federal trespassing law it will send a ripple effect down through the hundreds of misdemeanor convictions of Jan. 6 offenders and hamper the ongoing prosecutions of hundreds more.

What Is NASH?

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, or NASH, is the most severe form of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a condition in which the liver builds up excessive fat deposits.1

 

The liver is part of the digestive system. The organ helps break down food, store energy, filter waste products, and remove toxins.1 Even healthy livers contain some fat, but if your liver has more than 5% fat, you may have some form of NAFLD. If that fat is accompanied by inflammation, it is called NASH.1

 

NAFLD can be mild and symptomless, but if it progresses to NASH, it can sometimes cause people to experience liver damage similar to that caused by alcohol abuse, even if they do not drink.1

 

The body can repair minor liver damage, but if the effects are severe or long-term, scar tissue eventually replaces liver tissue (a process known as fibrosis). That can lead to cirrhosis—a life-threatening condition in which irreversible damage prevents the liver from working properly.1

 

Potential new diagnostic tools and treatments that are being evaluated in NASH may offer new hope for people with this serious liver disease.

 

 

Prevalence of NASH

NAFLD is the most common chronic liver disease in the U.S., affecting roughly 25% of adults.2 Most people with NAFLD have a fatty liver without inflammation. However, 20% of people with NAFLD develop NASH—liver inflammation that can seriously harm the organ.2 It is estimated that over 115 million adults around the world are impacted by NASH.3

 

NASH is most common among people who are obese and/or have Type 2 diabetes. As these conditions become more prevalent, so does NASH.4,5

 

Causes and Risk Factors

What Causes NASH?

Scientists don’t fully understand what causes NAFLD or why some people develop NASH and others don’t. But this is an area where researchers are learning more every year.4,5

 

Genetics, metabolic changes, and changes to the microbiome (the microorganisms that are part of a healthy gut) might contribute to NASH.5,6,7

 

Some other causes under study include6,7:

 

An immune system reaction to excessive fatty liver tissue

The release of toxic inflammatory chemicals (cytokines) by liver cells or fat cells

Self-destruction (apoptosis) of liver cells

Oxidative stress, the effect of unstable molecules called free radicals

What Causes NASH

NASH and Genetics

Genetics seem to contribute to NAFLD and NASH. Research has identified gene changes that might play a role, including a certain variation in the PNPLA3 gene.8 This gene gives cells instructions for making adiponutrin, a protein found in liver cells and fat cells.9 Scientists believe that a particular change in the PNPLA3 gene could cause increased fat production and decreased breakdown of fats in the liver, which may contribute to development of NASH.8

 

Ongoing research could shed further light on the role of PNPLA3 and other genes in NASH. Researchers have already confirmed that variations in PNPLA3 can be inherited.10 Genetically inherited variations of the HSD17B13 protein also may play a role in the development of NAFLD and NASH, as well as severity.8,11 Emerging research is attempting to clarify how lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise may affect how the body expresses these genetic variations.12

Telehealth Spurred Rise in Abortions Nationally

From April to June, the number of abortions performed in the United States rose 11% compared to the same time period last year, according to a new report released on Tuesday.

 

According to the quarterly #WeCount report from the Society of Family Planning, there were nearly 98,000 abortions per month on average in the first half of 2024, which is up from the 88,000 per month average in 2023 and the 81,400 average in 2022.

 

That increase is largely driven by expanded telehealth access to medication abortion, which has allowed patients to skirt state prohibitions on the procedure.

 

"In this heavily restricted abortion care environment, medication abortion provided via telehealth under shield laws is making a significant contribution to abortion access," Ushma Upadhyay, co-chair of #WeCount and professor at the University of California, San Francisco, said in a release.

 

"Despite abortion opponents' continued efforts to ban safe, effective abortion care, providers, advocates, and abortion funds all continue to innovate new ways to help people access the abortion care they need," she added.

 

In-person abortions comprise 80% of all abortions, but such care has become difficult to access when confronted by state-level abortion bans.

 

The popularity of medication abortions via telehealth under shield laws has skyrocketed in places with restrictions since the Supreme Court reversed the federal abortion protections established by Roe v. Wade in 2022.

 

According to the report, 20% of abortions by the second quarter of 2024 were medication abortions via telehealth; during the same time period in 2022, medication abortions via telehealth made up 4% of total abortions.

 

In the second quarter of 2023, there were 24,640 telehealth-enabled abortions. During the same time period this year, there were 60,270 – a 145% increase.

 

Not counting the abortions performed under shield laws, there was a 26% increase in the number of abortions provided via telehealth.

HOLT, Mo. — A reporter for KSHB-TV in Kansas City was struck by a piece of shrapnel at a gun range Tuesday afternoon during a campaign event for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Lucas Kunce.

 

Reporter Ryan Gamboa suffered a minor injury to his arm at the event, held at a gun range outside of Kansas City and attended by Kunce, former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger and around a dozen union members.

 

According to Kunce's campaign, a piece of shrapnel ricocheted off a metal target and "nicked" Gamboa's arm. Photos provided by the Kunce's campaign showed the 13-year Marine veteran, still-clad in safety goggles, applying first aid and bandaging the reporter's bleeding arm.

 

KSHB reported that Gamboa was checked out at a nearby hospital after the event and was released.

 

Kunce's campaign released an audio recording of the candidate speaking with a group after the incident.

 

“Always have your first aid kit handy," Kunce said. "You never know what’s going to happen. Shrapnel can always bounce off of anything and come back and nick somebody, and you’ve got to be ready for that, you've got to be ready to go. We had four first aid kits here, and I’m pretty proud of that. We were able to take care of the situation.

 

"I hope you're arm's feeling better, brother," Kunce added, speaking to Gamboa. "We'll have to get you to sling around downrange here and maybe blow up a Coke bottle, huh?"

 

Kunce's Republican opponent, incumbent U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, ran with the news on X. One post stated, "My grandma is a better shot than Lucas Kunce."

 

Kunce was firing an AR-15-style weapon when Gamboa was struck, KSHB reported.

 

According to Kunce's campaign, the range is owned by a United Auto Workers Local 249 retiree and is managed by a UAW member and National Rifle Association training counselor.

Zach was terminated from his job, without pay effective Saturday, October 12th.

 

The State Police were notified by families that were involved and our church staff. We are not aware of the full extent of his crimes, and we are doing everything we can to cooperate with the ongoing police investigation.

 

The information that we received was shocking. We were told that Zachary had been soliciting inappropriate photos and possibly videos from teens. We have also heard other stories. This information has ripped our hearts apart. The safety and protection of the individuals in our church is what is paramount to us. We are devoted to doing what we can for the care of the victims of these crimes.

 

Every one of our staff members and individuals working with our children, teens, and adults go through background checks. We do our level best to make sure all are protected.

 

We have counseling that is being set up and provided for any youth or adults who have been impacted by this crime. What is being done will be provided to our church family in the next few days. Like you, our hearts are broken. We have a desire to serve our Master in this community, with the understanding that the church family should be one of the safest places we can be involved in. Part of that trust has been broken. Our commitment is to be completely transparent and do what we can to help with this investigation.

Labour Party activists have volunteered for the Democrats in battleground states, the former president’s campaign claims

 

The UK's ruling Labour Party is interfering in the US presidential election, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign team has alleged in a complaint filed over alleged meddling by a foreign political force.

 

Labour Party officials have reportedly advised Democrats about strategies party 'activists' have worked on the ground in key swing states. The Labour Party insists such activities are legal because no money has been exchanged and no donations have been made to the Democrats.

 

The Trump campaign's complaint to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleges “blatant foreign interference” by Labour in the US election, in the form of “apparent illegal foreign national contributions” accepted by the Democrats and their candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.

 

Foreign nationals are prohibited from making “a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation,” in support of an American candidate, “directly or indirectly,” the complaint said, citing US law.

Among the evidence cited by the campaign is a Washington Post report that “strategists linked to Britain’s Labour Party have been offering advice to Kamala Harris about how to earn back disaffected voters and run a winning campaign from the center-left.”

 

Likewise, UK outlet The Telegraph has reported that Morgan McSweeney, the chief of staff to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as Starmer’s chief of communications, Matthew Doyle, attended the Democrats’ convention in Chicago and met with Harris’ campaign team.

 

Last week, Labour’s head of operations, Sofia Patel, posted on LinkedIn that she had “nearly 100 Labour Party staff, current and former, going to the US in the next few weeks, heading to North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia,” advertising ten openings in North Carolina. Patel told potential applicants that “we will sort your housing.”

Trump supporters, including Elon Musk, have pointed to Patel’s post as a clear violation of campaign laws. The post has since been deleted. Democrats insist that none of this is illegal because it does not involve financial contributions.

 

“This is a normal thing that happens in elections,” British Employment Minister Alison McGovern told Sky News last week, noting that Labour activists have campaigned for Democrats many times before.

 

Democrats have made unsubstantiated allegations that Russia ‘meddled’ in the 2016 presidential election and that Trump ‘colluded’ with the Kremlin, after his surprise victory over Hillary Clinton that year. What if a rocket could return to its launch tower – and be caught? This happened for the first time 10 days ago, after a SpaceX Starship rocket blasted off from its pad in Boca Chica, Texas, USA. Starship then split, as planned, with its upper stage landing in the Pacific Ocean. The big difference was the lower stage, Super Heavy Booster 12, was caught by its launch tower about 7 minutes later. Catching a rocket for reuse is a new and innovative way to help reduce the cost of rocket flight by making rockets more easily reusable. Starship rockets may be used by NASA in the future to send spacecraft to Earth orbit, the Moon, and even other planets.
