JD Vance Doubles Down on Lecturing Germany: ‘This Is Orwellian’

JD Vance brought his lecturing of Germans into a second week Monday by slamming laws in the country meant to curb hate speech and the prosecutors who carry them out.

 

The vice president claimed Germany is “criminalizing speech” and warned that its restrictions on citizens might put “real strain” on the U.S. ally’s relations with the White House.

 

Vance, 40, shared his reaction on X after a clip from CBS News’ 60 Minutes went viral highlighting how strict Germany’s anti-hate crime laws are, including the possibility of prison for those who merely reshare a post that includes false or hateful speech.

 

“Insulting someone is not a crime, and criminalizing speech is going to put real strain on European-US relationships,” Vance posted on X. “This is Orwellian, and everyone in Europe and the US must reject this lunacy.”

China accuses U.S. of 'serious regression' in its Taiwan position after change to State Dept. website

The U.S. fact sheet on the self-governing island claimed by Beijing was amended to remove the phrase “we do not support Taiwan independence.”

HONG KONG — China accused the United States on Monday of a “serious regression” in its position on Taiwan, after the State Department updated the Taiwan section of its website to remove a reference to the independence of the Beijing-claimed island.

 

The State Department fact sheet on U.S.-Taiwan relations continues to state Washington’s opposition to any unilateral changes to the status quo from either China or Taiwan, a self-ruling democracy that rejects Beijing’s sovereignty claims. But the phrase “we do not support Taiwan independence” appears to have been removed Thursday in what the State Department says was a routine update.

 

The change was cheered by Taiwan, while China said it “sends a wrong signal to the Taiwan independence forces” and urged the U.S. to “immediately correct this mistake.”

 

The U.S. should “stop using Taiwan to control China” and “stop condoning and supporting Taiwan independence,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular briefing in Beijing on Monday. “This will help avoid further serious damage to China-U.S. relations and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”

 

The same phrase about not supporting Taiwan independence was removed from the State Department fact sheet in 2022 during the Biden administration before being restored a few weeks later.

 

The United States, like most countries, does not have official relations with Taiwan but is its most important international backer, and is required by law to provide the island of 23 million people with defensive weapons.

 

Beijing, which has not ruled out the use of force to assert its sovereignty claims, is extremely sensitive to any sign of international recognition of Taiwan, which it describes as its “core of core interests.

 

Taiwan, formally known as the Republic of China, says it is already an independent country. Its government fled to Taiwan in 1949 after losing a civil war with the communist forces of Mao Zedong, founder of the People’s Republic of China.

 

The U.S. has recognized the PRC as the sole legal government of China since establishing diplomatic relations with Beijing in 1979, acknowledging Beijing’s assertion that Taiwan is part of China but taking no official stance of its own on the sovereignty of Taiwan.

 

The State Department said the U.S. position on Taiwan independence had not changed and that the U.S. remained committed to its “One China” policy.

 

“The United States is committed to preserving peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” a State Department spokesperson said in an email Sunday.

 

“We oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo from either side. We support cross-Strait dialogue, and we expect cross-Strait differences to be resolved by peaceful means, free from coercion, in a manner acceptable to people on both sides of the Strait.”

 

The State Department website has also been changed to add a reference to Taiwan’s cooperation with a Pentagon technology and semiconductor development project and to say the U.S. will continue to support Taiwan’s participation in international organizations, “including membership where applicable.”

 

China has consistently opposed Taiwan’s membership in international bodies such as the World Health Organization.

 

The website changes were praised by Taiwan, whose foreign minister, Lin Chia-lung, said in a statement Sunday that his ministry welcomed “the support and positive stance on U.S.-Taiwan relations” that they demonstrated.

 

Though President Donald Trump has unnerved Taiwan with recent comments demanding the island pay more for its defense and accusing it of stealing U.S. semiconductor business, his administration has also made strong statements of support for Taipei.

 

Last week, two U.S. Navy ships sailed through the sensitive Taiwan Strait for the first time since Trump’s inauguration last month. A Canadian warship also sailed through the strait on Sunday, drawing condemnation from Beijing.

 

In recent years Taiwan has come under increasing military and other pressure from China, which sends warplanes and vessels toward the island almost daily.

Israeli troops were ordered to shoot and kill captive Israeli civilians on 7 October 2023, Israel’s then defense minister admitted this week.

 

The order to carry out Israel’s so-called Hannibal Directive was issued “tactically” and “in various places” next to Gaza, Yoav Gallant told Israel’s Channel 12 on Thursday. “In other places it was not given, and that is a problem,” he continued.

 

Questioning Gallant, journalist Amit Segal clarified for viewers that “the Hannibal Directive says to shoot to kill when there is a vehicle containing an Israeli hostage” – a characterization Gallant did not contest.

 

Gallant was speaking in his first interview with Israeli television since being fired in November.

First public admission

 

Contrary to Gallant’s statement that the Hannibal Directive was unevenly applied in different areas, Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot reported in January 2024 that at midday on 7 October, an unambiguous order was given from the high command of the Israeli military to invoke the Hannibal Directive across the entire region.

 

The order came “even if this means the endangerment or harming of the lives of civilians in the region, including the captives themselves,” Israeli journalists Ronen Bergman and Yoav Zitun reported.

 

In July, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the order “not a single vehicle can return to Gaza” was issued to the Gaza Division of the Israeli military at 11:22 am that day.

 

But Gallant’s new statement is highly significant, as the first public admission by a contemporary Israeli minister that their troops were ordered to fire on their own people on 7 October.

 

A military doctrine first issued in secret by Israeli generals in the 1980s, the Hannibal Directive is Israel’s national murder-suicide pact.

 

Initially it stated that, when issued, Israeli troops could fire on other Israeli troops who had just been captured by Palestinian or other Arab resistance fighters.

Unprecedented

 

But on 7 October 2023, in an unprecedented military offensive, Palestinian fighters recaptured land next to the Gaza Strip, which had first been lost to the Israelis in 1948.

 

Roughly 250 Israeli soldiers and civilians were captured by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups, in what they called Operation Al Aqsa Flood.

 

Israel’s response was to reactivate and unleash the Hannibal doctrine, extending it to Israeli civilians, as well as soldiers.

 

Fire from Israeli helicopters, drones, tanks and even ground troops was deliberately unleashed, in a failed attempt to prevent Palestinian fighters from taking live Israeli captives who would then be later exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.

 

Roughly 1,100 Israelis were killed. It is still unclear exactly how many of these were killed by Israelis and how many by Palestinians. One year on, an investigation by The Electronic Intifada found that at least “hundreds” were killed by Israel.

 

Official figures, published for the first time last month, revealed that the Israeli Air Force fired 11,000 shells, dropped more than 500 heavy one-ton bombs and launched 180 missiles “during the fighting” on 7 October.

 

An independent United Nations inquiry last year criticized Israeli authorities for barring them access to the country.

 

“Israeli officials not only refused to cooperate with the commission’s investigation but also reportedly barred medical professionals and others from being in contact” with them, the inquiry’s report stated.

A Delta Air Lines plane has crashed while landing at an airport in Toronto and is pictured upside down on the runway.

 

Shocking images show the plane having apparently flipped with emergency crews at the scene at Toronto Pearson Airport. The plane was arriving at the Canadian city from Minneapolis when the accident happened in wintry conditions with blizzard conditions on the ground.

 

One of the passengers, John Nelson, speaking of the incident on Facebook said: “In Toronto just landed our plane crashed it’s upside down.” He was talking as he appeared to be filming from the runway and looking at the plane as people were being helped to safety in the snow and ice. He added: "It's upside down everybody…. most people appear to be okay believe it or not."

 

And John told just how lucky they were as there was an explosion shortly afterwards. "I landed and was stuck upside down. It exploded shortly after the video," he said.

Peel Paramedic Services say at least eight people are injured following an incident with a plane. There were reportedly close to 80 people on board. A local journalist wrote on X: It’s bad at the airport. Fire and police everywhere!"

 

But it appears that while the footage from the scene has led to fears of a deadly crash, that somehow everyone has been "accounted for", said the airport. "Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for," stated a spokesperson for the airport.

Paramedics confirmed to CP24 that up to eight people were injured, adding they are unsure of the extent of injuries. It is understood that it was Delta Airlines CRJ-900, operating as Delta Flight 4819 from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) to Toronto (YYZ), that was involved in the incident. Data from Flightradar24 shows an Orange Air ambulance helicopter landing at the airport.

 

The Peel Regional Police has also said it is responding to an accident at the Pearson Airport, later adding it is its "understanding" all the passengers are out and safe.

 

Many people have taken to social media to comment on the incident and have told of their shock at the state of the plane. "Thank god nobody was killed, I can’t believe the plane remained in tact Pearson should not be accepting aircraft with the current runway conditions," wrote one person on X. Another said: "Could have ended very badly, thankful every came off the airplane unscathed…" A further person commented: "That’s heartbreaking news. My thoughts are with everyone affected—stay safe.."

Mexican Cartels’ End Imminent As US Special Forces Land in Mexico to Train Marine Infantry

 

Beginning this week, the entrance of members of the U.S. Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) into Mexico has been authorized by a Mexican Senate commission. As part of a mission to instruct the Mexican Navy’s Infantería de Marina (marine infantry) on both conventional and non-conventional combat, the Americans will arrive fully equipped, according to a recent Border Report article.

 

According to Sen. Alejandro Moreno Cardenas, the president of the Mexican Senate’s Naval Ministry Commission, the training will be conducted at the Luis Carpizo naval facility in the state of Campeche from February 17 to March 30. Two days before the training begins, Moreno added, the Americans will land in Campeche in a C-130 aircraft.

 

Without debate or opposition, the commission approved the mission unanimously on Tuesday. According to the senator, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo requested the vote.

 

With the motto De Opresso Liber! (Free the oppressed!), the 7th Special Forces Group has served in Afghanistan and participated in peacekeeping missions in Ecuador, Peru, and Panama. Also referred to as the Green Berets, they participated in the Just Cause operation, which led to the capture of Gen. Manuel Noriega, the ruler of Panama, who was wanted in the United States on drug-related charges, in January 1990.

 

Earlier this month, Sheinbaum and President Donald Trump agreed that Mexico would strengthen its efforts to combat the drug cartels that are bringing the deadly illegal opioid fentanyl to the United States in exchange for a delay in the imposition of crushing 25% tariffs on Mexican exports to the United States.

 

The United States is expected to increase its efforts to stop firearms from being illegally imported into Mexico in exchange. According to U.S. security experts, Mexico has previously allowed American military advisors to enter its country, but only for training purposes.

 

It is crucial to note that the Green Berets’ primary function will be training, according to Scott Stewart, vice president of intelligence at TorchStone Global, an international security consulting firm. It is not as if they are deploying the Army Rangers, the Delta Force, or the SEALs. It is not as though combat soldiers or combat aircraft are being sent. However, earlier this month, Mexican news outlets reported that a purported American surveillance plane was present near the beaches of Baja California and probably Sinaloa. Unauthorized air intrusions were denied by the Mexican authorities.

 

According to Stewart, the Mexican government might have permitted the aircraft’s presence in order to provide its law enforcement agencies with intelligence. “I suppose that would be intelligence to pass to the Mexican marines, and not necessarily in preparation for a U.S. bombing or whatever,” Stewart said, adding that it would be an attempt to boost signals intelligence because the plane is a vacuum and absorbs all communications.

 

Since the United States seized half of its territory in 1848, Mexico has historically been extremely cautious about allowing American troops to enter the country, according to political analysts. If Mexico does not keep reducing the flow of fentanyl and migrants to the United States, that is unlikely to alter even with the threat of tariffs.

 

If this extraordinary resolve to action is successful, MAGA’s influence could extend beyond the United States. Trump is making progress.

Today, the third Monday in February—you may have been told—is the day we celebrate all United States presidents. Or it's a mash-up memorialization of the birthdays of both Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. But neither of those is correct.

 

This misunderstanding has been slowly brewing for nearly fifty years, but here’s the truth: on the federal level, officially, there is no such thing as Presidents’ Day.

 

Instead, governmental employees and school children enjoying some leisure time today have off in honor of just one man’s birthday: the founding father himself, George Washington.

 

Washington’s February 22 birthday has actually been a federally recognized holiday since 1879. But the Presidents’ Day confusion got its start in 1968, when Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Bill. The legislation declared that three national holidays—Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, and Veterans’ Day—would be celebrated on Mondays, rather than their fixed calendar dates. (Veterans’ Day would later be moved back to its original November 11 date.) The move was intended to avoid mid-week holiday interruptions and establish a set number of three-day weekends for federal employees.

 

Richard Nixon signed the bill into law on February 11, 1971. This is when the misunderstanding started. According to Snopes, a “newspaper spoof” claimed that, on that day, Nixon declared that the third Monday in February would be a "holiday set aside to honor all presidents, even myself." He never did say such a thing, but the idea proved hard to eradicate.

 

Another source of the myth could be the fact that there were parties lobbying for a “President’s Day” as far back as the 1950s. The National Association of Travel Organizations, for example, wanted Washington’s birthday combined with Lincoln’s in order to create one long holiday. (Lincoln’s birthday, though celebrated by some on the state-level, was never a federal holiday.) The scheme wasn’t adopted universally, but some states did create such a day.

 

And that’s the other point of confusion—even when the federal government moved Washington’s birthday to a Monday, not all states followed suit. As Snopes points out: “Individual state governments do not have to observe federal holidays — most of them generally do (and most private employers and school districts follow suit), but federal and state holiday observances can differ.” And so, some states kept up their bilateral presidential birthday celebrations, while others consolidated them and others simply never formally marked Lincoln’s birthday.

 

As the years went on, so did the confusion. A while back, some federal legislators tried to clear up the misconception with the “Washington-Lincoln Recognition Act of 2001” which demanded that February’s third Monday only be referred to as Washington’s Birthday. The bill didn’t gain much traction, though, and perished in a subcommittee.

 

And here’s a last little bit of holiday trivia for you: According to Voice of America, Washington was the very first individual American whose life was officially celebrated with a holiday. The second? Martin Luther King Jr., whose birthday became a federal holiday in 1983.

Delta Pledges To Add Non-Binary Booking Option This Year

Almost three years after committing to adding a non-binary option for passengers booking plane tickets, Delta Air Lines this week said it pledges to make sure it happens in 2022.

 

The airline has been in the national spotlight in the last week after an Arizona mother criticized the Atlanta-based carrier for still featuring just male or female choices when booking.

 

The mother, Dawn Henry, tried to surprise her 21-year-old child with a ticket but did not see the option for non-binary. Non-binary means the individual identifies as neither male nor female, and many states - and at least two airlines - now accept the 'X' designation for gender.

 

In fact, the U.S. State Department issued its first gender-neutral passport in October of 2021.

 

But Delta did not offer that option. Henry then took to social media, and news outlets around the world picked up the story.

 

Now Delta says it dropped the ball and will rectify the situation it promised to address in 2019.

 

"Delta Air Lines is a proud, long-time supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and we understand that being seen and acknowledged is part of having an equitable travel experience," a Delta spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News. "While we quickly shifted focus due to COVID in early 2020 to helping customers navigate the rapidly changing environment and government regulations, we are back on track to be able to offer a non-binary gender option in our booking systems in 2022."

 

Delta would join American and United in offering a non-binary option during the booking process. Those three carriers were part of a group of six major airlines pledging to add non-binary options. To date, Delta, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue and Southwest have yet to do so.

 

"There's a major problem with Delta and possibly some other airlines not adapting their computer system to correspond to the reality that people have official government documents that recognize their nonbinary gender identity," Josh Block, a senior attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union's LGBT & HIV Project, told NBC News. "…Businesses have an obligation to make sure that nonbinary people have equal service, and if that requires investing money to update your computer system, then that's what a business needs to do."

The Trump Administration fired approximately 300 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employees over the weekend as DOGE works to eliminate DEI and wasteful spending.

 

Last week it was reported that the Trump Admin was gearing up to fire probationary workers.

 

Hundreds of FAA employees received an email informing them of their termination.

 

David Spero, the national president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists (PASS), AFL-CIO, blasted the Trump Administration for firing FAA employees.

 

“We are troubled and disappointed by the administration’s decision to fire FAA probationary employees PASS represents without cause nor based on performance or conduct. Several hundred employees have been impacted with messages being sent from an ‘exec order’ Microsoft email address, not an official .gov email address. Messages began arriving after 7 pm ET on February 14 and continued late into the night. It is possible that others will be notified over the weekend or literally barred from entering FAA buildings on Tuesday, February 18,” David Spero said.

 

“This decision did not consider the staffing needs of the FAA, which is already challenged by understaffing,” David Spero said in a statement. “Staffing decisions should be based on an individual agency’s mission-critical needs. To do otherwise is dangerous when it comes to public safety. And it is especially unconscionable in the aftermath of three deadly aircraft accidents in the past month.”

“To me, Pride means not fearing what you don’t understand,” Line Check Pilot Lane Kranz says in a Q&A.

 

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising in New York City — a day that marked the foundation of the nation’s modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.

 

As Delta advocates for LGBTQ+ equality, we hear from Delta voices on the importance of inclusion during Pride Month and beyond (video above). Among those voices is Atlanta-based Captain and Line Check Pilot Lane Kranz, who shared perspective on the Stonewall uprising, diverse representation in the flight deck and the best part about flying for Delta.

 

Fifty years after Stonewall, can you shed light on its significance to the LGBTQ+ community?

 

There was a bar in Greenwich Village called The Stonewall Inn where LGBTQ+ people gathered. It was a safe place to just be yourself and be around like-minded people. On the night of June 28, 1969, the bar was raided by police; many of the patrons were beaten to a bloody pulp. The occurrence ended up creating a revolution, sparking six days of riots in the streets of New York City. The riots turned into peaceful protests, which were joined by scores of straight people who were in support of LGBTQ+ people being accepted and treated equally. Those marches and peaceful protests were a catalyst for the transformational change for the civil rights of gay people. I’m happy that we now have changes in our laws that allow opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community to be treated equally, just like anyone else. It’s a start, but there is still so much work ahead.

 

How have the events at Stonewall affected you personally?

 

It’s ironic because I was born in 1969, and I just turned 50. I’ve grown up with this my whole life. I went to high school in Texas, and there were no kids or adults that were ‘out.’ Anytime gay or lesbian people were mentioned, it was always in a negative light. When I went to college, it was the first time I was around a few kids that were out. In 1969, you could not be gay or lesbian and hold a job at an airline, so it’s amazing that 50 years later I’m a Captain and Line Check Pilot for the greatest airline on the planet. This would have never been possible without those brave people stepping up in 1969, followed by decades of education, hard work and patience.

 

Across the nation, people are celebrating gay rights and the LGBTQ+ movement. What does Pride Month mean to you?

 

I think it’s an important time to recognize the progress we have made, but it’s also a good time to talk about the progress we have not made. Although there have been tremendous strides forward for gay and lesbian people, some of the other initials in LGBTQ+ are often forgotten. We have not seen as much equality and change for transgender and individuals that identify as non-binary. To me, Pride means not fearing what you don’t understand. Pride is about opening minds and opening doors.

 

Why is it important for the world to see diversity in the flight deck?

 

We’re a global airline that flies all over the world — over 300 countries on six continents. Our company brings people together from different cultures, practices, life experiences and perspectives, and it’s important for our pilot population, and workforce in general, to mirror our customers. When you harness the energy of different people, that creates new perspectives and ideas — innovation. Innovation leads to change and change leads to opportunity. This is why diversity is so important.

 

Can you share an experience you’ve had at Delta that made you feel included?

 

One experience that comes to mind is when I was a First Officer. I was flying with a captain, and he asked, ‘What does your wife do?’ I said, ‘I’m actually married to my husband, and he works for T-Mobile in Human Resources.’ He said, ‘Wow, that’s awesome. I’m not gay but my son is, he’s in college.’ It just made my heart melt when he said that. I don’t make a big point about me being gay, but if someone asks, I’m happy to share my experience.

 

What is your advice for Delta people who want to be strong allies for the LGBTQ+ community?

 

I think to just be greeted with a smile and welcomed like everyone else is the ultimate thing. All people, regardless of our orientation, want two things: to be acknowledged and to be accepted.

 

What do you love most about your job?

 

I have the greatest job in the world, and I work for the most awesome company on the planet. I’ve worked for six other airlines or aviation companies; no one does it better than Delta. As a pilot, one of my favorite things is watching the sunset or the moon rise at cruising altitude on an airplane. It’s the greatest view on earth.

The Americans are landing in a C-130 airplane in Campeche two days prior to the start of the training, Moreno said.

 

The commission unanimously approved the mission without discussion or dissent on Tuesday. The vote came at the request of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the senator said.

 

The 7th Special Forces Group, whose motto is De Opresso Liber! (Free the oppressed!), has participated in peacekeeping operations in Panama, Peru and Ecuador, and has been deployed to Afghanistan. The chamber comes into session on Tuesday evening. Senators will take a procedural vote on Kash Patel’s nomination as FBI director that will allow Senate Majority Leader John Thune to file cloture on the highly controversial pick. After that vote, the Senate will move to confirm Howard Lutnick as commerce secretary.

Delta leaders say corporate policies around diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with sustainability, are “critical” to its business. With many companies scaling back these policies in recent months, the Atlanta-based airline reaffirmed its commitment during a recent earnings call.

 

The carrier’s executive vice president of external affairs, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary, Peter Carter, responded to a question regarding whether Delta was reevaluating these policies during the Friday call.

 

Carter said the airline isn’t taking another look at its DEI or environmental, social, and governance frameworks.

 

“We are steadfast in our commitments because we think that they are actually critical to our business,” he shared. “Sustainability is about being more efficient in our operations.”

Several U.S. companies – including Boeing – have scaled back or axed their DEI departments. Boeing reaffirmed its commitment to a “merit-based performance system” last year.

 

Carter added that DEI is “about talent and that’s been our focus. And of course, the key differentiator at Delta is our people.”

HAMBURG — Chaos erupted and hundreds fled in a German city once again today, after what witnesses described as a "deranged maniac" allegedly fired off over 17 memes in a crowded shopping mall.

 

The incident occurred during peak shopping hours, with one witness saying that a commotion arose near the food court, as someone began screaming, "Memes! Memes! Run! Run!" before people began making panicked runs for the exits.

 

"You see this on the news, but you never expect to experience it firsthand," said witness Friedrich Müller. "We were just shopping and enjoying our day when this sick lunatic just started meming. It was horrible. I saw some people lying on the ground. It was too late to save them. I'm one of the lucky ones who escaped."

 

Police arrived moments later and subdued the suspect. "He had several more memes drafted up that he was planning to post," a law enforcement spokesman said. "We searched his vehicle and found an entire stockpile of memes that he had in reserve. We shudder to think of what might have happened if he had the opportunity to finish what he started. There's no place for these types of hateful actions. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of these memes."

 

Early reports indicated that the suspect had been planning the mass meming for months, though authorities had not yet determined how the suspect stockpiled so many memes.

 

At publishing time, the German government had launched a formal investigation into rumors that the perpetrator may have been a part of an international meme organization.

We just got back from the hospital where Ben underwent an endoscopy procedure. The doctor said there is no signs of any cancer. Thank God! 😇 His last scope was in October and he was cancer free then, so it's not coming back.

Elon Musk was expected to remain offline Sunday night into Monday morning as his xAI team prepared for the highly anticipated debut of "Grok 3," scheduled for release Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST. However, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with streamlining the federal bureaucracy, returned very excited to his social media platform around midnight, unveiling what "might be the biggest fraud in history."

 

Musk posted a spreadsheet of Social Security Administration data showing "numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!"

 

The data shows that 20.789 million Americans are collecting social security benefits over the age of 100. Drilling down into the age buckets, benefits are still being paid out to folks over 140!

 

"Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security," Musk emphasized.

 

One X user pointed out that 2023 data showed the US population at around 334.9 million. However, Musk's data (likely from DOGE's 'Big Balls' analyst) shows 394 million names in the Social Security Administration database.

 

Musk responded: "Yes, there are FAR more "eligible" social security numbers than there are citizens in the USA. This might be the biggest fraud in history."

 

"Maybe we pause payments to everyone 120+ until they can authenticate they're among the living, to start," Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) wrote on X in response to Musk's post.

 

Collins is far too conservative. Lawmakers should freeze payments over the age bucket of 100 until a clear determination can be made where taxpayer funds are disappearing in this possible money pit that smells like fraud.

 

"If DOGE's numbers are right, $522B—1/3 of ALL spending on Social Security each year—is fraudulent," X user Robert Sterling said.
