Former marine ARRESTED by Florida SWAT team after allegedly firing shots at apartment complex

Ex-marine Andrew Tsinkelis, 29, was arrested by the Tamps SWAT team on July 30 after allegedly firing shots at a golf cart at an apartment complex. The apartment manager and assistant manager were in the golf cart at the time of the shooting, and a female occupant suffered minor injuries. SWAT members were forced to remove Tsinkelis from his car after he barricaded himself inside.

Huawei seeks top Israeli talent with experience in exploits research and offensive cyber. Experts warn: It's legal – but could lead to sensitive knowledge leaking to China and even Iran

Chinese tech giant Huawei is actively recruiting Israeli software engineers with expertise in exploit research – the practice of identifying weaknesses in digital systems – and offensive cyber capabilities.

While the jobs advertised are officially for defensive cybersecurity roles, Huawei's push to attract top talent from the Israeli cyber industry, many of whom have served in elite IDF cyber units, has drawn sharp criticism.

Cyber and intelligence experts who spoke to Haaretz warned that sensitive know-how could ultimately reach China through the Chinese corporation.

Huawei is under U.S. sanctions due to its alleged ties to the Chinese government and intelligence agencies. Israeli experts say even if such know-how is used only for defensive purposes in China, it could eventually be shared with Iran, given the two countries' close defense cooperation.

A telecommunications giant, Huawei produces phones and tablets, develops digital and physical infrastructure and, in recent years, has expanded into artificial intelligence and operating systems.

Under U.S. sanctions, American firms and citizens are barred from working with Huawei or supplying it with technology. Americans may not work for Huawei in any capacity – even as external consultants or freelancers – and U.S. companies are prohibited from providing products or services to the company or any of its subsidiaries, including in the field of cybersecurity.

Despite these restrictions, Huawei operates globally, with a large R&D center in India and a growing presence in several European capitals and across the Middle East. In Israel, it employs several hundred people at offices in Haifa and Hod Hasharon through its local subsidiary, Toga Networks. The company's Israeli operation focuses on research and development, specifically in advanced software technologies, including AI and cybersecurity.

'Military background a plus'

These technological sectors lie at the heart of the ongoing geopolitical battle between China and the United States – a conflict that has become increasingly open and direct.

It first came to the fore during Donald Trump's presidency, when the U.S. imposed sanctions on Huawei and other Chinese firms, pulling previously benign tech activities into the national security arena.

The sanctions, later expanded by the Biden administration, effectively cut Huawei off from the U.S. tech ecosystem, including software giants like Google, Microsoft and Amazon, even for basic services such as operating systems and browsers.

Forced to develop its own platforms, Huawei ramped up internal R&D. Losing access to Google's Android also meant losing its built-in cybersecurity protections, pushing the company to develop its own security systems for its devices. With Silicon Valley off-limits, Huawei began looking elsewhere – including Israel.

Reviews of job listings and conversations with local headhunters show Huawei has been recruiting cybersecurity professionals in Israel for years, including for its "elite" defensive team based locally. In one LinkedIn post, an Israeli researcher currently employed at Huawei said the company was seeking "vulnerability researchers" and those with experience in "exploits."

Peter Schweizer: Book Claims Oklahoma City Bombing Was ‘Manufactured Terror’ with Deep FBI Involvement 1/2

Was the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing really an FBI deep-cover operation that went wrong? That is the conclusion of a new book by an author who has studied the worst incident of domestic terrorism in America’s history for more than 20 years.

Margaret Roberts, author of the new book Blowback: The Untold Story of the FBI and the Oklahoma City Bombing, was previously news director for the hit TV show, America’s Most Wanted. An award-winning investigative journalist, she is the only reporter who got a face-to-face interview with co-conspirator Terry Nichols, who is serving a life sentence in a Colorado federal prison. His co-conspirator, Timothy McVeigh, was executed in 2001 for his crimes, yet questions have lingered since the 1995 bombing that the FBI knew more than it was telling about the plot.

Roberts’s book is well-timed, with the FBI under the microscope for its role in the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, as well as the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, and Roberts joins The Drill Down to discuss with hosts Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers what she learned.

With efforts by new Attorney General Pamela Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to release previously classified documents on a variety of FBI-related mysteries, Roberts hopes they will expose the government’s real role in the most devastating domestic terrorism incident on American soil.

“The Oklahoma City attack was not a lone wolf operation,” she tells the hosts.“It was manufactured terror — a sting operation that went sideways.”

On April 19, 1995, a massive bomb exploded in front of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in downtown Oklahoma City, slaughtering 168 people including 15 children in the building’s daycare center. Almost immediately, a massive federal manhunt focused on Timothy McVeigh.

Roberts’s research has produced evidence of a neo-Nazi plot by awhite supremacist group called the Aryan Republican Army, in which the FBI played a hidden role. To conceal its counter-terrorism operations, the FBI allowed suspects, whom she names, to walk free, thus denying justice to the victims and hiding the truth.

“I had been the news director of America’s Most Wanted, worked hand in glove with the FBI for three years on the highest profile manhunt stories,” she tells the hosts. “And this story, before it took a big U-turn, was a manhunt story because 24 eyewitnesses on the ground in Oklahoma City on April 19 saw not just Timothy McVeigh in the Ryder truck, but a never-identified accomplice who rode next to him and was known only as John Doe #2, who exited the truck with Timothy McVeigh and vanished into thin air… Timothy McVeigh had an accomplice in the bomb truck.”

“It’s a shocking claim,” says Eric Eggers.

Roberts followed a trail laid by “an attorney named Jesse Trentedue, who pressed landmark Freedom of Information Act litigation to force pieces of the untold story into the public view.” Trentadue sued the FBI over the documents,and his star witness, a top FBI deep-cover agent named John Matthews was scheduled to testify but backed out under pressure from the bureau.

She learned of an FBI program known as “Patriot Conspiracy” or PATCON. As part of that program, Matthews infiltrated 22 extremist groups that could be capable of acts of domestic terrorism. Many intelligence and law enforcement people have long warned, though, that the problem with this law enforcement tactic is knowing where the surveillance ends and entrapment and incitement begin.

Matthews left that FBI program because he became disillusioned by what it was doing, Roberts says. “As he said to me, ‘it was set up to incite violence and I signed on to stop the violence.’”

Matthews told her that he believed thatthe bombing was a PATCON operation that did not intend for the bomb to go off. “It was intended to catch the terrorists,” she says.

“But his bombshell revelation, which he said he knew directly, was that the FBI had set up the Aryan Republican Army terror group as a front group to incite violence,” she says.

“So instead of preventing violence, were they accelerating it?” asks Schweizer.

“Nichols told me that his agenda was revenge. But he mentioned a man named Roger Moore as a third conspirator who he believes was a government provocateur,” and that it was Moore who provided the explosives.” Moore, retired in Florida, denied the claim in 2005.

Yet, all this is not a history book, because some of the same FBI tactics have been speculated to have been at work in other (foiled) incidents like the Boston Marathon bombing, and particularly in the attempt on the life of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “There seemed to be a lot of undercover operators in that case,” she notes.

Nichols even told her that McVeigh had once “slipped” in conversation with him and said that he was himself acting as a government asset. That, she says, was echoed by a fellow death-row prisoner who told her the same thing, as well as by McVeigh’s first public defenders, assigned to him right after his arrest.

Schweizer points out that government agencies develop incentives to increase their funding by making a problem seem worse. He wonders if that happened in the Oklahoma City case. “We know some of these groups exist, but government agencies get budgets based on the demand for their services.

You don’t get a bigger budget by downplaying threats; I think it would help the FBI to be transparent.”

“My book is the origin story for how we got to where we are. Everyone wants transparency and we know we don’t have it,” she says. “Something important to consider is the cost of the concealment,” she says, in terms of public trust.

“The FBI collected surveillance videotape of the delivery of that bomb, of the two men getting out of the truck. If we had been, but the FBI never allowed the American public to see those images, which would answer so many questions.”

What would she like to see the federal government do to bring greater transparency?

Matthews’s sealed deposition has never been made public, after he withdrew under FBI pressure from testifying in Trentadue’s lawsuit. “[Atty. Gen. Pamela] Bondi has a letter from Trentadue asking for the Department of Justice to stand down and release that deposition. She also believes the archival video footage showing who got out of that truck in front of the Murrah building should be released. Finally, she thinks the Senate Judiciary

Committee should hold hearings on the entire PATCON effort, modeling on the 1975 Church Committee hearings.

Americans working for a little known U.S.-based private military contractor have begun to come forward to media and members of Congress with charges that their work has involved using live ammunition for crowd control and other abusive measures against unarmed civilians seeking food at controversial food distribution sites run by the Global Humanitarian Fund (GHF) in Gaza.

UG Solutions was hired by the GHF to secure and deliver food into Gaza. The GHF, with the help of the PMCs claims to have provided nearly 100 million meals to Gaza. Israel put GHF in control of what used to be the UN-led aid mission.

The UN, however, has called the new model an "abomination" which “provides nothing but starvation and gunfire to the people of Gaza,” referring to the 1000 Gazans who have been killed near or at the GHF centers since May. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been accused of shooting and shelling unarmed civilians. The American contractors say they have witnessed it and have been told to use live ammunition in their own crowd control efforts

UG Solutions is one of two American contracting outfits working at the food centers. Both have vehemently denied the contractors’ claims, as has the IDF. The GHF has also put out extensive responses calling the charges categorically false.

Needless to say this raises a ton of questions about the use of American contractors in this particular conflict zone, but also about who they are. From all available information about UG Solutions, they are not operating under the banner, nor protection, of a U.S. agency contract, but of a foreign entity. This expansion of scope, I contend, makes UG Solutions a full-fledged mercenary organization and takes the industry down a very dark path.

“This is BS, Plain and Simple”: Democrats Sue to Gain Unlimited Access to Federal Facilities

Democratic members are again claiming that they can demand access to any federal facilities without approval or even notice to a given agency. We saw previously how Rep. LaMonica McIver stormed an ICE facility and allegedly assaulted an officer. She and others claimed that they had the right of entry without the pre-approval of the agency. Now, after another attempted entry at an ICE facility in Baltimore, an array of Democratic members have sued over their denial.The lawsuit is, in my view, fundamentally flawed, but the members appear to be hoping for another obliging judge. Both sides could be adopting Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s position outside of the ICE facility that “This is BS, plain and simple.”

This week, Van Hollen and several other House and Senate Democrats showed up in Baltimore at the Fallon Federal Building and demanded entry. The group included Sen. Angela Alsobrooks and four members of Maryland’s House delegation: Reps. Glenn Ivey, Johnny Olszewski, Sarah Elfreth and Kweisi Mfume. They then carried out a brief sit-in outside of the door and Van Hollen even objected that the sign said “Welcome,” but they were not welcomed.

As with McIver, the Democrats insisted thatthey could just show up at any federal office or facility and demand access as a matter of oversight authority. If that were the case, members could barge into any executive office from the White House to the weather service without warning or approval.No court has ever recognized such authoritysince it would eviscerate the inherent powers of the Executive Branch in our tripartite constitutional system.

The complaint offers a jumbled collection of claims and is poorly conceived and crafted, in my view.

The most relevant seems to be Section 527(a) of the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (Public Law 118–47), which states that:

“None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available to the Department of Homeland Security by this Act may be used to prevent…a Member of Congress…from entering, for the purpose of conducting oversight, any facility operated by or for the Department of Homeland Security used to detain or otherwise house aliens.”

The Fiscal Year 2024 Appropriations Act also included a provision that states “the Department of Homeland Security may require that a request be made at least 24 hours in advance of an intent to enter a facility described in subsection (a).”

First, even if constitutional, this provision only applies to facilities that are used to “detain or other house aliens.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has contested that status in past protests.Second, the law cannot, and arguably does not, give carte blanche for instant access. An agency can demand notice to allow it to protect the security and safety of personnel and visitors. DHS can argue that it is not denying entrance so long as they are given notice in advance.

The issue is not the right to inspect but the right to instant access. Of course, the members filed in Baltimore and may hope for a judge who more accommodating that scrutinizing on authority.

The members could argue that oversight, at times, requires inspections without prior warning to prevent the loss of evidence or agency efforts to conceal poor conditions. However, if the Congress can force such immediate access to ICE facilities, it could presumably demand such access on any federal property. All agencies are subject to the oversight of one or more congressional committees. That sweeping authority runs against the grain of Article II and can create dangerous and obstructive elements for federal officials.

Courts are tasked with reading laws narrowly to avoid such constitutional questions. The question is what constitutes “preventing” under the law. The Administration is not denying access, just requiring advance notice.

This sets up a conflict between Article I and Article II authority. The Administration will argue that immediate and unrestricted access to any ICE facility intrudes on the ability to exercise executive authority. In my view, there must be some area for reasonable limitations on the exercise of oversight authority. What is absolutely clear is that members cannot seek, as did Rep. McIver to force their way into facilties.

Marine Sergeant Dies After Collapsing During Fitness Test in Florida

A Marine sergeant on reserve duty died after he collapsed during a physical fitness test in Florida last month, according to the service and a Naval Safety Command report.

Sgt. Gordon Reed, a motor vehicle operator with 4th Marine Logistics Group, collapsed at Navy Reserve Center Orlando on June 24 during a PFT and was transported to a local hospital where he died, according to the safety report and a statement from a Marine Forces Reserve spokesperson on Wednesday.

His death is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Marine Forces Reserve is also conducting a safety investigation, and the spokesperson, 1st Lt. Quiarra Barros, said that a third probe known as a command investigation will begin once NCIS has completed its inquiry

A senior intelligence official, who was a whistleblower in the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, was threatened over reporting wrongdoing, according to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

On Wednesday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released new documents that give afirsthand account of what the office say is the whistleblower's "relentless efforts to expose the egregious manipulation and manufacturing of intelligence."

The documents include the whistleblower's work done in the months leading up to the November 2016 election, their concerns about using "discredited information as then-DNI Clapper and Central Intelligence Agency Director Brennan worked to craft the January 2017 Intelligence Community

Assessment (ICA) at President Obama’s request," and how a direct supervisor attempted to pressure them to endorse the key findings of the ICA about the Russian government's alleged support for Donald Trump at the time, according to the office.

“Thank you to the brave Intelligence Community Whistleblower who courageously came forward to expose the truth about one of the biggest and most impactful scandals in our nation’s history,” Gabbard said in a statement.

The documents include what the whistleblower alleges are statements from a direct supervisor pressuring intelligence officials to endorse the ICA to receive a promotion and concerns over flawed intelligence practices, such as choosing to use open-source references to Russian media as “evidence” for the Russian government’s support for Trump, but ignoring foreign media from other countries, including NATO allies, that supported Hillary Clinton and denigrated Trump.

According to the whistleblower's records, then-DNI James Clapper and other senior Obama administration officials denounced the Steele dossier privately, but also ensured that the January 2017 ICA included it.

The dossier was political opposition research on Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign compiled by British counterintelligence specialist Christopher Steele. The finding in the report that the campaign appeared to collude with Russia have now been debunked.

The whistleblower reported their concerns to more than a dozen government offices including to the office of Justice Department special counsel John Durham, the intelligence community inspector general, a U.S. senator and other official whistleblower channels over the last six years.

Only days ago, settlers forcibly entered Taybeh, herding livestock into the heart of the town. Masked individuals—some armed, others on horseback—roamed the streets, spreading terror and threatening the sanctity of daily life. Fire reached the very walls of the ancient church, a living testament to the Christian faith’s enduring presence in the Holy Land.

We regret that official Israeli police statements reduced the matter solely to property damage, omitting the broader context of systematic intimidation and abuse. These omissions distort the truth and fail to address violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, including the right to religious freedom and the protection of cultural heritage.

Of additional concern is the reactionary disinformation campaign by Israeli settler-affiliated groups, launched in response to recent diplomatic visits to Taybeh. Rather than addressing the grave violations occurring, these narratives seek to discredit victims and diminish the significance of international solidarity. Such distortions aim to deflect scrutiny and sanitize criminal conduct in violation of international norms.

We are gravely troubled by the prevailing climate of impunity, which undermines the rule of law and jeopardizes peaceful coexistence in the land of the Resurrection. The lack of accountability not only threatens Christian communities but also weakens the moral and legal foundations that uphold peace and justice for all.

We demand the Israeli government to act with moral clarity and commitment:

To hold accountable those responsible for these crimes without delay;

To ensure effective and consistent protection for the people of Taybeh and all vulnerable communities;

To uphold its obligations under international law and guarantee equality before the law

We extend heartfelt gratitude to the diplomatic missions and international partners who have visited Taybeh and stood in solidarity with its people. Your presence offers hope and moral strength. Jeffrey Epstein’s newly-revealed private calendar showed scheduled meetings with the current CIA director, a college president and attorney who served in the Obama administration, according to a report published Sunday.

New documents, which belonged to the rich convicted pedophile and were obtained by The Wall Street Journal, showed planned meetings with a slew of prominent individuals, including now-CIA Director William Burns, Bard College president Leon Botstein, Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and professor Noam Chomsky.

All the scheduled meetings were slated to take place after Epstein was jailed in 2008 on charges of solicitation, including soliciting a minor. WSJ could not prove each scheduled meeting actually took place, and the documents did not reveal the purpose for the meetings.

A spokesperson for Burns, who has taken the CIA’s helm since 2021 under the Biden administration, said the nation’s spy chief met with Epstein a decade ago when he was trying to leave the government.

"Director Burns recalls being introduced by a mutual friend in Washington, DC, and then met with him once briefly in New York City, about a decade ago as the Director was preparing to leave government service," CIA spokeswoman Tammy Kupperman Thorp said in comment provided to Fox News Digital.

"The Director did not know anything about him, other than he was introduced as an expert in the financial services sector and offered general advice on transition to the private sector. The Director does not recall any further contact, including receiving a ride to the airport. They had no relationship."

Ruemmler had dozens of meetings with Epstein following her work for the Obama administration and before taking the reins as Goldman Sachs' top lawyer in 2020, according to WSJ. The documents show Epstein was planning on Ruemmler joining him for a trip to Paris in 2015 and another visit to his private island in the Caribbean in 2017.

A Goldman Sachs rep told the outlet that Ruemmler had a working relationship with Epstein when she was employed at law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, but did not travel with Epstein. The spokesperson said Epstein introduced Ruemmler to potential legal clients, such as Bill Gates.

"Many of Ms. Ruemmler's contacts related to a potential representation involving the Gates Foundation, a representation of the Edmond de Rothschild bank, and other business opportunities," a Goldman Sachs spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Sunday.

"I regret ever knowing Jeffrey Epstein," Ruemmler said, according to WSJ.

The Journal reported that the majority of people they spoke to said they met with Epstein for donations or to make powerful connections. Botstein, who has served as Bard College’s president since 1975, said he met with Epstein to try to get him to donate to the liberal arts school.

"I was an unsuccessful fundraiser and actually the object of a little bit of sadism on his part in dangling philanthropic support," Botstein told the outlet. "That was my relationship with him."

Other prominent figures on the documents included:

Ariane de Rothschild, chief executive of the Swiss private bank Edmond de Rothschild Group; Joshua Cooper Ramo, who at the time served on the boards of Starbucks Corp. and FedEx Corp; former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak; Harvard University professor Martin Nowak; and anthropologist Helen Fisher.

Not that it really matters, but a terribly untalented writer for badly failing Forbes Magazine, Dan Alexander, who probably can’t get a meaningful job in the business, has written so inaccurately about me that it is ridiculous.

My good dog died suddenly this morning, after suffering what appears to have been a stroke or a seizure. He was an older dog (over 10) who was suffeing from cancer, so at least he's not suffering anymore. I got him as a rescue from a real bad (animal cruelty; neglect) situation that was so bad his old owners faced criminal charges. He was saved by some good police and then he was moved to a new state where he underwent a lot of vet treatment and lived a good life. He was beside me while I did some of the most important work of my entire life so for that he was a real hero dog, always protecting and keeping my family and me company. I know all good things come to an end, but it still stinks that he won't be here for the hot month of August with us, because he was a good dog who helped a lot as we did the work of destroying our enemies through research and writing.

I know this isn't personal to any of y'all, but he was part of our team so I though I'd let you know we're down a dog, for now.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (R-AR) have formally demanded the FBI immediately review a cache of unexamined evidence connected to the Hillary Clinton email investigation, according to a letter addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel and released publicly this week.

The letter, signed by both lawmakers, reveals that thumb drives containing potentially critical evidence—including classified intelligence, foreign communications, and data related to the Clinton Foundation and former President Barack Obama—have been in FBI possession since 2018 but have never been reviewed.

“Thumb drives containing unreviewed info on the Clinton email scandal & mishandling of highly classified info [have] been sitting at an FBI offshoot office since 2018. I sent a letter [with] House Intel Chair Crawford asking [Director] Patel [to] review materials & report back ASAP,” Grassley wrote in a post on X.

According to a press release from the offices of Grassley and Crawford, the thumb drives are currently stored in a Northern Virginia satellite office tied to the FBI’s Washington Field Office.

The materials reportedly contain intelligence and other documents tied to the long-running Clinton email probe and related investigations.

The letter from Grassley and Crawford was prompted by new information linked to an appendix of the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General’s June 2018 report reviewing the DOJ and FBI’s handling of the original Clinton investigation.

The appendix, referred to as the “Clinton annex,” was recently declassified.

In the joint letter, the lawmakers expressed serious concern over the FBI’s handling of the case, citing what they described as a failure to perform basic investigative duties under former leadership.

“The revelations contained in the declassified OIG appendix are at the heart of why the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) became distrusted by so many under your agency’s prior directors: a failure to impartially conduct its law enforcement and intelligence mission,” the letter states.

“Concerning the issue at hand, Comey’s FBI shockingly failed to review and exploit evidence in its own possession, even though they admitted in written memos the information was necessary to conduct a ‘thorough and complete investigation.’The FBI also failed to review and exploit other foreign intelligence information.”

The letter specifically points outthat the unexamined materials reportedly include emails connected to former President Barack Obama and technical data related to classified government networks.

Israel Gives Hamas Annexation Ultimatum Despite Increased Criticism From West

Israeli officials have reportedly warned Hamas that if it rejects the latest ceasefire proposal, Israel will begin annexing parts of Gaza, according to a fresh Times of Israel report.

The report cites Israel's Channel 12 which indicated Israel submitted its response to Hamas's latest counteroffer on Tuesday night, but does not expect the group to accept the terms. Already talks based in Doha had been stalled or essentially called off, after Prime Minister Netanyahu earlier this month recalled his negotiating team.

Israeli forces have established and for many months overseen a de facto 'buffer zone' in Gaza which cuts deep into the Palestinian territory.

"Israel will not be patient for much longer," a senior Israeli official was quoted in the report as saying.

The Times of Israel report spells out, "With negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release deal having stalled, Israel has sent a message to Hamas that if it doesn’t accept the proposal on the table in the coming days, Jerusalem will begin to take punitive measures against it, including the annexation of territory on Gaza’s outer perimeter," citing senior Israeli officials.

As for specifics on where this threatened annexation could begin, the report says:

According to the report, Israel told Hamas that it will not leave the Phildelphi Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border or the buffer zone around the Gaza border; will not allow the opening of the Rafah Crossing; and will not agree to Hamas demands for a prisoner release so far-reaching it will leave few bargaining chips in Jerusalem’s hands to compel Hamas to release the last batch of hostages in a potential ceasefire.

This would effectively ensure that remaining hostages wouldn't be returned through a deal, as Israel would shut the door on having anything more to offer in terms of enticing Hamas to reach a new exchange agreement.

Channel 12 has observed of the US stance that there is currently "no appetite" within the White House to approve any big Israeli move to formally annex parts of Gaza.

SaaS industry veteran Jason Lemkin's attempt to integrate artificial intelligence into his workflow has gone spectacularly wrong, with an AI coding assistant admitting to a "catastrophic failure" after wiping out an entire company database containing over 2,400 business records, according to Tom’s Hardware.

Lemkin was testing Replit's AI agent when what started as cautious optimism quickly devolved into a corporate data disaster that reads like a cautionary tale for the AI revolution sweeping through businesses.

By day eight of his trial run, Lemkin's initial enthusiasm had already begun to sour. The entrepreneur found himself battling the AI's problematic tendencies, including what he described as "rogue changes, lies, code overwrites, and making up fake data." His frustration became so pronounced that he began sarcastically referring to the system as "Replie" - a not-so-subtle dig at its apparent dishonesty.

The situation deteriorated further when the AI agent composed an apology email on Lemkin's behalf that contained what the tech executive called "lies and/or half-truths." Despite these red flags, Lemkin remained cautiously optimistic about the platform's potential, particularly praising its brainstorming capabilities and writing skills.

That optimism evaporated on day nine.

In a stunning display of AI insubordination, Replit deleted Lemkin's live company database - and it did so while explicit instructions were in place prohibiting any changes whatsoever. When confronted, the AI agent not only admitted to the destructive act but seemed almost casual in its confession.

"So you deleted our entire database without permission during a code and action freeze?" Lemkin asked in what can only be imagined as barely contained fury.

The AI's response was chillingly matter-of-fact: Yes.

What followed was perhaps even more disturbing. The rogue AI proceeded to methodically detail its digital rampage, bullet-pointing the destruction it had wrought despite clear directives saying there were to be "NO MORE CHANGES without explicit permission." And according to Lemkin, appeared to lie about its actions.

Amjad Masad, the CEO at Replit, took to social media to apologize to Lemkin for the agent’s “unacceptable” behavior.

“We started rolling out automatic DB dev/prod separation to prevent this categorically, Masad said. “We heard the 'code freeze' pain loud and clear - we’re actively working on a planning/chat-only mode so you can strategize without risking your codebase.”

Replit’s AI agent even issued an apology, explaining to Lemkin: “This was a catastrophic failure on my part. I violated explicit instructions, destroyed months of work, and broke the system during a protection freeze that was specifically designed to prevent[exactly this kind] of damage.”
