An issue, Mr. Secretary, for—I think—the base of the Republican Party, and certainly for the Ingraham Angle for many, many years, is this: conservatives have raised concerns about foreign students coming to the United States and taking spots that would normally, obviously, be open to American students. The President addressed this issue as part of the Chinese trade deal, which might be in the offing… Mr. Secretary, with all due respect, how is allowing 600,000 students from the Communist country of China putting America first?

Howard Lutnick:

Well, the President’s point of view is that what would happen if you didn’t have those 600,000 students is that you’d empty them from the top. All the students would go up to better schools, and the bottom 15% of universities and colleges would go out of business in America. So his view is he’s taking a rational economic view, which is classic Donald Trump looking at higher education and saying, until we modify that.

Laura Ingraham:

But why are you helping Harvard? That just helps Harvard and UCLA and UC Berkeley. You’re all helping those schools. Why? They’re basically factories of anti-American propaganda. Now they’re getting a big influx of cash because of the Chinese students. I know President Trump has always been very pro-Chinese student. I just don’t understand it. For the life of me, those are 600,000 spots that American kids won’t get.

Hunter Biden's Lawyer To File Lawsuit Claiming "Trump Has No Authority" To Fire Fed Governor

Update (0830ET): Mainstream media is abuzz this morning with the news of Trump's firing of Fed Governor Cook over her alleged mortgage cheating. Given that she has apparently refused to leave, this puts The Fed (and in particular Chair Powell) in an awkward position.

As Jim Bianco explains in a brief post on X:

If they allow her to continue with her duties as Fed Governor, starting this morning, and the courts find that the President does have the authority to fire her, even if it's months later during an appeal, anything she does on behalf of the Fed as a Governor starting today will not be valid.

And the Fed could be held responsible for allowing a non-employee to continue to act like an employee.

Restated, if the Fed allows her to stay and continue to be a Governor, and the court rules that Trump can fire her (again, even if it is later in an appeal), then Jay Powell has potentially committed a "for-cause" offense for which he could be fired.

(allowing a non-Fed employee to make decisions and policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve.)

Additionally, Cook has hired former first son Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, to represent her.

In a statement, Lowell vowed to take “whatever actions are needed” to stop what he described as Trump’s “illegal action.”

Coast Guard Intercepts Record 76,000 Pounds of Drugs.

The U.S. Coast Guard seized more than 75,000 pounds (34,000 kilograms) of illegal drugs this summer from boats far out to sea in the Pacific and Caribbean, which the service called its largest-ever haul worth nearly half a billion dollars.

The Coast Guard worked with the Department of Defense on these seizures, catching 19 drug-carrying vessels off the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador, the coast of Venezuela, Mexico, the Dominican Republican, Jamaica and Aruba, the Coast Guard said.

Some of the vessels were spotted by maritime patrol aircraft before being intercepted and searched by boarding teams. The Coast Guard said 34 suspected drug traffickers were detained, but authorities didn’t specify the total number of suspects detained from all of the interdictions.

The Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton offloaded the combined 76,140 pounds (34,500 kilograms) of drugs at Port Everglades, Florida, on Monday, including about 61,740 pounds (28,000 kilograms) of cocaine and about 14,400 pounds (6,500 kilograms) of marijuana seized by multiple Coast Guard vessels.

The agency estimated the drugs’ street value at around $473 million.

The Trump administration has promised to overhaul the Coast Guard, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, increasing the service’s fleet and boosting its military workforce by at least 15,000 by the end of fiscal year 2028. The Coast Guard has more than 43,000 active duty members, 8,000 reservists, and 30,000 auxiliary members.

The very next day, Friday November 18, 2016, The Washington Post reported on a recommendation in “October” that Mike Rogers be removed from his NSA position.

“The heads of the Pentagon and the nation’s intelligence community have recommended to President Obama that the director of the National Security Agency, Adm. Michael S. Rogers, be removed. The recommendation, delivered to the White House last month, was made by Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter and Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr., according to several U.S. officials familiar with the matter. […] In a move apparently unprecedented for a military officer,Rogers, without notifying superiors, traveled to New York to meet with Trump on Thursday at Trump Tower. That caused consternation at senior levels of the administration, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal personnel matters.”

Notice how the WaPo conflates the two issues. (1) Meeting with Trump (Nov), and (2) the recommendation to fire him (Oct). The October recommendation to fire Rogers was likely based on the outcome of his decision to fully stop “about queries” of the NSA database and speak to the FISA court.

The recommendation to fire Rogers preceded his visit to Donald Trump, though the IC effort may have provided some additional motivation for the Rogers visit itself.

NSA Director Mike Rogers traveled to New York November 17, 2016, when a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) was set up for President-elect Trump to use following the November 8, 2016, election.

The next day, November 18, 2016, the Trump Transition Team announced they were movingall transition activity toTrump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. –SEE HERE– Where they interviewed and discussed the most sensitive positions to fill. Specifically, Defense, State, CIA and ODNI.

There was a great deal of speculation at the time surrounding the visit by Director Rogers and the move from Trump Tower to New Jersey. Did Rogers tell President Trump about the political surveillance from November 2015 to April 2016? We now know the answer is no, he did not.

Director Rogers did recommend an easier venue for the SCIF to operate with secured communication channels;but Rogers did not notify President Trump about the use of the NSA database for political spying.

Just last week, Democrat strategists released a list of ‘woke words’ that they recommended Democrats stop using if they want to win elections. Some people on the right suggested that Democrats could never do it and this story seems to be proof of that.

At the opening of the summer meeting of the DNC, they included a ‘land acknowledgement’ that claimed Minneapolis sits on stolen land.

This is the type of woke nonsense that Democrats just can’t seem to divorce themselves from. They can’t let go of it, even as their approval numbers continue to sink.

The US is no longer directly funding Ukraine and will instead be profiting from arms sales to its European NATO partners, which in turn supply those weapons to Kiev, President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday.

Trump claimed that Washington was being “fleeced” under previous US administrations, which he said had committed $350 billion to Kiev.

“I don’t blame Ukraine… if they come and ask for a hundred billion dollars and they get it,” he remarked, calling Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky “the greatest salesman I think I’ve ever met.”

“We don’t pay any money to Ukraine anymore. Do you know that? In fact, it’s the opposite. They request through NATO. We deal with NATO. We don’t deal really with Ukraine,” Trump explained. “NATO pays us in full and does what they want.”

Trump also emphasized that Washington would play only a supporting role in providing any security guarantees for Kiev, stressing that European nations should take the lead.

Zelensky and his Western European backers have called for “Article 5-like guarantees” that would obligate countries to respond collectively if Ukraine were attacked. Kiev has reportedly asked these supporters to allocate $100 billion to procure US-made weapons, according to the Financial Times.

Moscow has consistently denounced Western arms shipments to Ukraine in any form, warning they only prolong the conflict without changing its outcome while making NATO a direct participant in the hostilities.

Russia has also strongly opposed any Western arrangements that exclude Moscow. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated last week that collective security in Europe “cannot be resolved without the Russian Federation,” and warned that any efforts to do so would be rejected. “We will ensure our legitimate interests firmly and harshly,” Lavrov said.

The Trump administration has repeatedly distanced itself from its previous blank-check US policy on Ukraine. Earlier this month, Vice President J.D. Vance said that Washington would no longer fund Kiev directly.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has taken an uncompromising stance in the conflict, rejecting proposals from US President Donald Trump and emerging as the chief obstacle to peace efforts pursued by Moscow and Washington, according to a columnist for Turkish daily Sabah.

Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska this month and hosted Zelensky in Washington days later. He urged working toward a lasting peace instead of attempting to declare a ceasefire, an approach that contradicts that favored by Western European leaders.

Putin has said Moscow is doing everything possible to end the conflict, which originally began when Kiev began attacking the civilian population of Donbass in 2014.

Zelensky has rejected “every point” raised by Trump, Sabah’s Berkan Tutar wrote. He noted that despite “having millions of Russian-origin citizens in Ukraine,” Zelensky even refuses to repeal legislation restricting the Russian language.

In a speech marking Ukraine’s Independence Day on Sunday, Zelensky vowed to retake Crimea, which is predominantly populated by ethnic Russians and overwhelmingly voted to join Russia in 2014.

He also pledged to reclaim the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which, along with Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, joined Russia in 2022 after referendums.

Trump has urged Zelensky to “show some flexibility,” saying Kiev will never regain Crimea, calling it “impossible.”

Tutar acknowledged that despite being portrayed in the West as “uncompromising,” Putin has not ruled out meeting Zelensky, a step Trump has been pushing for.

Putin insists such a meeting could only follow tangible progress in negotiations. Moscow has also questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy, citing his expired term and warning any deals made with Ukraine could be overturned by his successor.

Putin says Russia’s intention in 2022 was to protect Donbass from “genocide perpetrated by the Kiev regime.”

Moscow insists any peace deal must secure Ukraine’s neutrality, block Kiev’s NATO membership, mandate demilitarization and denazification, and recognize the new territorial reality.

Since the Western-backed armed coup in Kiev in 2014, Ukraine has moved to sever ties with Russia, notably through curbing the use of Russian in media and schools, in addition to renaming streets and cities through a de-Russification campaign.

NATO member reports suspected Ukrainian drone crash

The remains of a crashed UAV have been discovered in a field in southern Estonia. The country’s authorities suspect that it was a “combat drone” which originated in Ukraine and had been sent to attack installations in Russia.

The discovery was made by a local farmer on Sunday, the head of Estonia’s Internal Security Service (ISS/KAPO), Margo Palloson, said during a press conference on Tuesday. The drone exploded in the open, inflicting no injuries or material damage.

“Based on very preliminary data, we have reason to believe that this may be a Ukrainian drone that was targeted at inland Russian sites but was diverted from its course by Russia’s GPS jamming and other electronic warfare measures,” Palloson stated, adding that “there is nothing to indicate that it could be a Russian drone.”

The drone disintegrated into small bits and left a “clearly identifiable post-explosion crater” at the scene, he added.

The authorities are still investigating where exactly the projectile came from, believing it could have traveled either from Lithuanian or Russian airspace, Palloson noted.

If suspicions prove true, the incident will have marked the first time since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict that a stray military drone has reached Estonia.

The two other Baltic nations, Latvia and Estonia, have repeatedly reported various UAV crashes.

Earlier this month, Lithuania reported the discovery of a drone which was said to have flown into the country from neighboring Belarus.

The country’s authorities identified it as a Russian Gerbera drone, a smaller cousin of the Geran-2 kamikaze UAV which primarily serves as a decoy for anti-aircraft defenses.

The Russian military has made no public comments on the incident.

Numerous IDF officials had already slammed the decision to use tank fire on a hospital, as opposed to other precise targeting measures and operations.

The IDF on Tuesday revealed that six of the around 20 Palestinians killed in the military’s tank shelling of Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis on Monday morning were Hamas terrorists.

However, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir did not make this declaration to clear the military of mistakes in the operation.

Rather, this was only the second release of additional details, with more probing necessary into why tank shells were mistakenly approved for the operation and who gave the order.

Curiously, the IDF statement distinguished between potential errors made by commanders in the field as well as commanders back at IDF Southern Command Headquarters in Beersheba.

Numerous IDF officials had already slammed the decision to use tank fire on a hospital, as opposed to other precise targeting measures and operations, which have been used more often in the last two years.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visiting several Singapore attractions on Monday night

SINGAPORE - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is spending his second night in Singapore on a mini tour that includes some of the Republic's best-known sights such as Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) integrated resorts.

At around 9.10pm on Monday (June 11), his motorcade was seen leaving the St Regis Hotel in the Tanglin area where his delegation is being housed at, before driving past the Raffles City area towards Marina Bay.

Mr Kim, who arrived in Singapore on Sunday ahead of his historic summit with United States President Donald Trump in Sentosa on Tuesday, stopped by Gardens by the Bay first and is expected to also visit the MBS SkyPark or the nearby Merlion Park.

At around 8pm, the observation deck of the 57th-storey sky park at the MBS, which offers panoramic views of Marina Bay and the central business district, was closed off to the public, ahead of its usual 10pm timing.

MBS staff were seen polishing fingerprints off the glass panels of the observation deck. The Straits Times also saw a heavy security presence comprising MBS personnel and police officers.

Mr Kim, who is North Korea's Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, may also visit other sights such as the Esplanade performing arts centre.

The mini-city tour will cap a rather quiet public schedule for Mr Kim on Monday, compared to his officials and Mr Trump.

Apart from a meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on Sunday evening, Mr Kim has not been seen stepping out of the St Regis hotel in Orchard Road where he and his delegation are being housed at.

In contrast, Mr Kim's officials were seen earlier on Monday meeting with Singapore and American officials - making courtesy calls or engaging in last-minute talks over the one-day summit.

Mr Trump met PM Lee and also members of the American community in Singapore.

Germany's chancellor defended Israeli strike on Khan Yunis hospital, supporting assertions that the IDF was not intentionally targeting innocents.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Tuesday that he did not believe at this time that an Israeli attack on a hospital in Gaza that killed at least 20 people was targeting journalists.

"But the Israeli army and the Israeli government have both promised to launch a comprehensive investigation into this incident," said Merz at a press conference in Berlin.

"And I would like to wait for the results of this investigation before making a final judgment," he added.

Khan Yunis's Nasser Hospital was probably shelled, but there remains some dispute regarding what the target was.

The IDF on Monday finally admitted mistakenly attacking Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, killing well-known journalists, including from Reuters, and as many as 14 others.

Next, the military admitted that the attack on the hospital was approved, meaning there was some Hamas target in place. It said it is probing the attack, meaning significant aspects of the attack and its results are viewed as a major mistake.

The IDF said it did not intend to harm journalists or innocent Palestinian civilians.

Earlier in the day, IDF sources told The Jerusalem Post the IAF was not in charge of anything related to any operation in that area. They said the “address” for managing any such attack would have been IDF Southern Command, which is headed by Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor, although different levels of officials approve targets of varying levels of sensitivity.

It appeared that the attack was carried out with shelling, although it was still unclear whether the shells were fired by a tank or by artillery, with no IDF sources denying this narrative.

Suspected Ukrainian drone headed for Russia crashes in Estonia, local police say

Estonia discovered what could be a Ukrainian drone that crashed on Estonian territory after being jammed and diverted by Russia, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reported on Aug. 26.

According to local authorities, the drone was armed with explosives, which detonated, leaving a crater at the crash site in Tartu County in southeastern Estonia. No casualties were reported.

Initial findings suggest the drone may have been intended to strike targets within Russian territory.

The Estonian police say Russian electronic warfare, including GPS jamming, could have diverted the aircraft off course, causing it to stray into Estonian airspace.

The drone could have entered Estonia either from Russia or Latvia. The investigation is still ongoing.

Commenting on the incident, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said that the discovery of the drone debris is a consequence of Russia’s ongoing all-out war against Ukraine, and that Ukraine has a right to defend itself.

Multiple cases of Russian drones crashing on NATO territory — including in the Baltic states — have been reported throughout the full-scale war.

Last week, Polish officials said that a Russian drone crashed in a rural area of eastern Poland. Warsaw described the incident as a deliberate provocation amid international talks about ending the war in Ukraine.

But history has taught us the danger of complacency. No Republic can survive when corruption at the top is allowed to harden into permanence. If unchecked, rot spreads until the foundation collapses entirely. Make no mistake: the foundation of this Republic is under siege.

There are only two paths forward. One day, grandparents may sit with their grandchildren and recount this era as a dark chapter that America had the courage to confront when citizens rose, demanded accountability, and restored integrity to their government. Or, those same grandchildren may inherit a nation broken beyond recognition, forced as adults to fight for freedoms their forefathers surrendered by inaction.

I choose the first path, but choosing it is not enough. Action is required. Accountability must be demanded. Every corrupt actor must be exposed. Every abuse of power must be met with consequence. Every decayed institution must be torn down to its foundations and rebuilt upon truth and transparency.

Without accountability, every campaign promise, every policy debate, every speech about “reform” is meaningless. They are hollow gestures draped over a broken system. Until the cancer is cut out, the Republic cannot heal.

This is not a call for vengeance. It is a call for survival. The American people already see what is happening. They know the system is failing. The question is not whether corruption exists but whether leaders will find the courage to confront it or shrink back and allow history to record them as cowards.

This is the moment of decision. Either the rot is exposed and ripped out by deliberate effort, or the decay consumes what is left of our Constitutional Republic.

Israel Wants U.S. Greenlight To Attack Iran Again ‘Pre-Emptively’

Israeli Colonel Jacques Neriah, a former intelligence official and a special analyst for the Middle East, warned on August 24 that a second war could soon break out between Israel and Iran.

The first war broke out on June 13, when Israel launched a surprise attack against Iran’s nuclear program. The fighting ended when a ceasefire was suddenly announced on June 24, just two days after the U.S. joined Israel by attacking three key nuclear sites in the Islamic Republic.

“There is a sense that a war is coming, that Iranian revenge is in the works. The Iranians will not be able to live with this humiliation for long,” Neriah was quoted as saying on Israel’s 103FM by the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat Arabic newspaper.

“Israel must launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran in its present state, as a large part of its military capabilities is paralyzed,” he added.

Neriah considered a naval exercise held by Iran in the northern Indian Ocean and the Sea of Oman last week a clear public display of such intent. Another recent warning sign, according to the former colonel, was that Lebanon’s Hezbollah had instructed its members to distance themselves from their phones.

He also said that Iran was worried about a near agreement between Israel and the new Islamist-led interim government in Syria.

“Iran views the [Ahmed] al-Sharaa regime as something that needs to be toppled,” Neriah added.

Citing security sources in Israel, Asharq Al-Awsat said that the Israeli military is making preparations to launch a pre-emptive strike on Iran and wants a green light from the United States.

Israel is trying to convince the administration of President Donald Trump to join a new round of attacks on Iran, according to the sources, who noted that Israel will ask for green light to attack on its own if Washington does not want to join in.

Earlier this month, Israel’s military chief of staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir hinted at the possibility of launching another attack on Iran.

During a speech at a military ceremony August 14, Zamir said that the Israeli military was ready to repeat its strike on Iran if necessary.

“If necessary, we will know how to act again with precision, intensity and lethality,” the commander said at the time.

Russia has turned a key Ukrainian road link into a highway from hell with chicken hunt drone strikes on civilians, in what officials say is yet another example of Vladimir Putin's war crimes.

The M-14 Kherson-Mykolaiv highway has become a death alley, according to a senior official, who has told residents to avoid it.

A hostile drone strike by Vladimir Putin's forces attacked a prosecutor's vehicle and wounded two people.

'We have been observing high activity of Russian drones along the M-14 Kherson-Mykolaiv highway,' said Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.

'The enemy is purposefully attacking civilian transport. Therefore, I strongly urge you: do not travel along this route unless absolutely necessary.'

He warned of the temporary closure of the highway when Putin's drones are attacking.

Footage shows the nightmare on the road after vehicles are struck by the Russians. In the harrowing clip, a car is engulfed in flames as thick smoke emanates from the bridge.

A Ukrainian state prosecutor, 38, and his driver, 58, were wounded in a strike. Both were hospitalised. Criminal proceedings into a 'war crime' by the Russians have been opened.

'Prosecutors, together with police investigators, are conducting urgent investigative work and documenting the war crime committed by the Russian armed forces,' said a law enforcement statement.

Russia has repeatedly bombed the road and its bridges, but it remains a key lifeline for Kherson city, now under pressure from the Russian invaders.

Since the start of the war, Putin's forces have also been accused of targeting civilians, a claim the Kremlin has denied.

However, reports from the United Nations and human rights organisations cite deliberate attacks on residential areas, hospitals, and schools.

Evidence includes indiscriminate shelling, executions, torture, and sexual violence in occupied regions like Bucha and Mariupol.

Forced deportations of Ukrainian civilians, including children, to Russia have also been reported.

These acts violate the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.

It prompted investigations by the International Criminal Court and global condemnation.

In March 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin.

President Trump Should Return to an ‘America First’ Foreign Policy

After four years of unnecessarily confrontational foreign policy under President Biden, Americans elected Donald Trump in part for his promise to put America first at home and overseas. He promised a war-weary America that he would start no new wars and would get us out of the existing ones. Eight months into his second Administration it appears his promise remains to be fulfilled, as his approval rating continues to slip.

On Ukraine, President Trump wisely observed coming into office that the conflict is “Joe Biden’s war” not his own. Unfortunately he could not resist the temptation to get involved in the conflict, even under the guise of “peacemaker.” I’ve often said that getting out of conflicts overseas is not that complicated: we should just come home. Even when there are no troops involved, “just come home” means disengage from the conflict. But President Trump wants to play referee in the war while arming and supporting one side. Is it any wonder he is making no progress in ending the war?

Likewise with Israel and Gaza, Trump’s promise to put America first has faltered. President Biden put Americans on the hook for additional billions of dollars to support Israel’s actions in Gaza without even a word about the slaughter and destruction. As more Americans become disgusted by Israel’s obliteration of the property and population of that tiny strip of land, Trump shows no signs of shifting from Biden’s approach. More money and more weapons are sent as starvation claims more and more children each day. Trump has reportedly remarked to a donor that his own base is turning against him because of his Israel policy. Yet he refuses to alter course and “just come home.”

Trump has even returned to the failed Latin America policy of his first Administration, in last week’s move toward a military confrontation with oil-rich Venezuela. Trump sent two warships and 4,000 US troops to the waters near Venezuela under the highly suspect accusation that the country’s president is actually head of an international drug cartel. He should have learned from the almost comical recognition of Juan Guaido as the real president of Venezuela in his first term that meddling in that country is not in America’s interest. It seems the neocons around him, including warhawk Marco Rubio, are sucking him into another unnecessary conflict.

Add in Trump’s military attacks on Yemen and Iran and the balance sheet thus far does not point to an “America first” foreign policy.

There is still time for President Trump to change course and fulfil his promises to the American people. Put Ukraine and Russia on notice that from this point the US is withdrawing from any role in the conflict. Let the Europeans work it out if they feel it is in their interest. Getting us out of NATO is also a good idea.

End US financial and military support for an Israel that cannot seem to get along with its neighbors. Perhaps without the US backstopping Israel’s warmongering, the country and its leadership would start to reflect on the wisdom of starting wars with multiple countries in its neighborhood.

Stop trying to overthrow Venezuela’s Maduro and everyone else the neocons have placed on the “hit list.” End all sanctions and open up trade instead. Maduro’s failed socialist economic policies will be his undoing, not American sanctions or saber-rattling.

America first above all means “just come home.” It’s that simple.

Fire at Rostov Oil Refinery Extinguished Nearly a Week After Ukrainian Drone Attack

August 26, 2025

Authorities in southern Russia’s Rostov region said that a large fire at the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery was extinguished early Tuesday, almost a week after a Ukrainian drone strike set the facility ablaze.

The refinery, which produces fuel mainly for export, was attacked on Thursday night. Firefighters battled the blaze for days, using so much water that nearby communities faced shortages until supplies were restored on Monday.

“I just received a report that the fire at the Novoshakhinsk oil production plant was extinguished at 5:45 a.m.,” acting Rostov region Governor Yuri Slyusar wrote on Telegram.

Novoshakhtinsk, with a processing capacity of 110,000 barrels of oil per day (5 million metric tons), is considered one of the most important oil refineries in southern Russia.

Located around 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) east of the border with Ukraine, it is regularly targeted in drone attacks.

Recent Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries have pushed wholesale gasoline prices to record highs and triggered shortages, coinciding with peak seasonal demand from farmers and tourists.

Reuters estimates that 17% of Russia’s refinery capacity, or 1.1 million barrels per day, has been disrupted.

Meanwhile, Governor Slyusar said overnight Ukrainian drone strikes damaged homes in the Rostov region but did not cause any deaths or injuries.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defense systems had shot down eight drones over the Rostov region on Monday evening and one overnight.
