Political crisis in Nepal following deadly protests: Live Updates

PM K.P. Sharma Oli and several other ministers have quit after a standoff with youth protesters at anti-corruption rallies led to 22 deaths

Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and three ministers have resigned after deadly protests over alleged government corruption left multiple people dead in the capital, Kathmandu.

The mass protests have descended into outright violence targeting former members of the Nepalese government. Law and order in the country’s capital, Kathmandu, seems to have broken down and former senior members of the government are reportedly being paraded and beaten in the streets. The headquarters of the country's largest media group are in flames and senior army figures have called for calm.

The demonstrations, led mainly by people in their late teens and early 20s, erupted on Monday after authorities banned 26 major social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and X. The protests turned violent, with 22 confirmed dead in Kathmandu and about 500 injured, including more than 100 police officers.

While the government revoked the ban on Tuesday, the violence has continued. Protesters have reportedly stormed the Nepalese parliament and set it on fire, and attacked the Nepali Congress office as well as the homes of several senior politicians.

No Russian citizens have been injured in the protests, according to the Foreign Ministry in Moscow. The situation around the country’s embassy in Kathmandu remains calm, it added.

“The Russian side stands for a peaceful resolution of the internal political crisis within the framework of the national legal system and hopes for a prompt normalization of the situation in the friendly country,” the statement reads.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he has convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss “the developments” in Nepal. He described the violence in the neighboring country “heart-rending,” expressing deep anguish over the loss of young lives. “The stability, peace and prosperity of Nepal are of utmost importance to us. I humbly appeal to all my brothers and sisters in Nepal to support peace,” Modi wrote on X.

Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, the wife of former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, has died from injuries sustained after protesters set fire to their home, a source in the Russian Embassy in Nepal has told RT. She had been hospitalized with severe burns.

Video circulating on social media shows the shocking aftermath outside Nepal’s parliament building after it was set ablaze during violent protests. The footage shows blackened walls, fires still burning, thick smoke rising from the devastated structure, and crowds of people gathered around.

Hamas Accuses Trump Of A Set-Up In Doha, After 5 Leaders Killed In Israeli Strike

Update(1355ET): Hamas has claimed in an official statement that Israel failed in its attempt to assassinate the group's negotiations team; however, it acknowledged that five of its members were killed in the Tuesday Israeli aerial attack on Doha, including the son of the group's chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya.

There's been some back-and-forth on whether the US greenlighted the operation ahead of time, but reports say the White House was informed once the operation had already been ordered by Netanyahu. Trump officials then quickly informed Qatar.

"Qatar, which condemned the attack, hosts America’s most important air base in the region as well as much of Hamas’s political leadership. It has been a key mediator in two years of talks to resolve the war in Gaza," The Wall Street Journal reports. "Israel informed the U.S. that the attack was coming, and the U.S. in turn notified Qatar, people familiar with the matter said."

There's been some speculation over whether Trump just did to Hamas what was done to Iran: lure them into thinking negotiations were happening, only to set them up for a brutal 'decapitation' air strike which no one expected.

New York’s department of public health released a series of odd guidances to pharmacists and physicians on Friday to promote COVID vaccines to children and adults for “off label” use, meaning in conflict with FDA’s official label. Signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, New York’s executive order 52 declares a “disaster in the state of New York due to federal actions related to vaccine access.”

“A friend of mine said they’re contacting the nurse’s union,” a New York City nurse texted me, shortly after New York released their new COVID vaccine guidance. “They don’t know wtf to do with that!”

Because she works in both New Jersey and New York, this physician requested to go by the name “Michelle” to protect her license and possible job reprisals. “The states that I practice in are particularly regressive and hostile,” Michelle said. “They have pursued suspending and revoking licenses for providers that asked questions that in any other situation would be normal to ask.”

How Trump Is Making Corporatism Great Again

Government “investment” in private businesses will only worsen the twin plagues of corporatism and cronyism that afflict our political and economic systems.

(Ron Paul) President Trump has recently endorsed a policy that is arguably as socialist as anything proposed by New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani or Sen. Bernie Sanders — partial government ownership of private corporations.

Earlier this year, as a condition of approving Nippon Steel’s purchase of US Steel, President Trump demanded Nippon give the US government a “golden share” in US Steel. This golden share allows the US government to overrule Nippon’s management if the government determines Nippon is acting against US “national security,” which means the government can overrule many decisions made by Nippon‘s management.

Unfortunately, Nippon was not a “one-and-done” excursion into corporatism. President Trump recently struck a deal with computer chip manufacturer Intel to give the company 8.9 billion dollars in government subsidies in exchange for ten percent of Intel’s stock. This deal makes the US government Intel’s largest stockholder!

The Trump administration has promised that it will not use its position to undermine Intel’s board. However, the administration is reserving the right to counter Intel’s board if the administration determines the board is taking an action that would adversely impact the relationship of the company or its subsidiaries with the US government. So, the Trump administration is yet again giving itself power to manage a nominally private company.

Enabling the government to control a private company (even if the government does not actually exercise its power) means the company’s management will base its decisions on what will please those currently in power, rather than on the desires of consumers.

Government investment in corporations will cause politicians to make decisions based on what will profit the companies the government has “invested” in while those companies’ competitors will seek to attract government investment in order to win special privileges for themselves.

A corporation partially owned by government will be considered “too big to fail” since its failure would cause the government to lose the money “invested” in the businesses. So, the argument will be that a bailout will save the taxpayers money.

12th Grade Reading and Math Scores Hit 20-Year Low

The reading and math scores for American 12th graders have hit a 20-year low, according to a study from the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP).

In the area of reading, these are the worst scores in the history of the study, which launched in 1992.

The study also showed that eighth graders lost a lot of ground in science and that the gender gap between boys and girls in science, technology, engineering, and math returned after nearly being equal in 2019. Girls are falling behind.

Per NBC, the “assessments were the first since the pandemic for eighth graders in science and 12th graders in reading and math.”

“Scores for our lowest-performing students are at historic lows,” Matthew Soldner of the National Center for Education Statistics told NBC. “These results should galvanize all of us to take concerted and focused action to accelerate student learning.”

“While the pandemic had an outsize impact on student achievement,” adds the news report, “experts said falling scores are part of a longer arc in education that cannot be attributed solely to COVID-19, school closures, and related issues such as heightened absenteeism.”

Also blamed are “increased screen time, shortened attention spans and a decline in reading longer-form writing both in and out of school,” along with “a shift in how English and language arts are taught in schools, with an emphasis on short texts and book excerpts[.]”

One teacher said that 20 years ago, students were assigned 20 books a year. Now it’s closer to three.

The House Oversight Committee has published hundreds of pages of records from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, including the convicted sex offender’s so-called “birthday book.”

Republican committee chair James Comer has accused the Democrats of selectively “cherry-picking” documents to smear US President Donald Trump.

The disclosure on Monday evening followed a subpoena issued to the Epstein estate in late August.

Alongside the 238-page “birthday book,” the panel released Epstein’s will, his 2007 non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors in Florida, and sections of the disgraced financier’s address book.

The professionally bound book, compiled in 2003 by Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, features contributions from dozens of acquaintances, among them former President Bill Clinton and attorney Alan Dershowitz.

Some pages include lighthearted tributes, while others contain sexual jokes, staged photographs, and redacted names of women.

Republicans said the release was intended to provide transparency after Democrats publicized only the alleged Trump note earlier in the day, shaping headlines around the president and overshadowing the wider trove of documents.

The disputed page contained typewritten text inside the outline of a nude woman and appeared to be signed “Donald” below the waistline of the sketch.

Trump has called the note a fabrication and is suing the Wall Street Journal and its owner Rupert Murdoch for $10 billion in a defamation case.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt repeated on Monday that the president “did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.”

Democrats on the Oversight Committee highlighted the alleged Trump message and demanded further disclosure of Epstein-related files, accusing the president of concealing damaging information.

Comer criticized Democrats for “cherry-picking documents and politicizing information received from the Epstein Estate,” while insisting that “President Trump is not accused of any wrongdoing.”

Epstein, convicted in 2008 on state charges of soliciting prostitution, was later arrested on federal sex-trafficking charges in 2019.

He died in a Manhattan jail the same year, in what authorities ruled a suicide. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 and is serving a 20-year sentence.

Epstein’s long-standing ties to prominent political, business, and academic figures continue to spark bipartisan calls for transparency, although the Department of Justice has said there is no “client list” linked to his trafficking crimes.

A powerful Mexican drug cartel has acquired advanced drone warfare skills in Ukraine, the Milenio newspaper reported on Monday.

Moscow has long argued that the Ukraine conflict fuels global instability by spreading weapons and fostering reckless behavior by Kiev in pursuit of its war aims.

Foreign fighters have become a key part of Ukraine’s military strategy as authorities face resistance to conscription at home.

Milenio examined propaganda materials released by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), a major criminal group based in western Mexico, including footage showing a drone-armed hit squad operating with apparent military discipline and tactical expertise.

Experts cited by the paper said the group’s methods and armaments bore similarities to battlefield practices in the Ukraine conflict.

Mexican intelligence believes CJNG members received training in drone and urban warfare tactics in Ukraine, sources in the Jalisco state government told Milenio.

The report highlighted the cartel’s use of specific equipment, including DJI Matrice 300 RTK drones commonly employed in the Ukraine conflict.

The quadcopter aircraft, marketed for civilian use, can carry payloads of up to 3kg, operate at night, and fly long distances.

CJNG’s drone squad reflects “the future of criminal strife,” Milenio said, noting that technology once limited to armies and insurgencies is increasingly in the hands of well-resourced gangs.

Russian officials have previously identified Latin American countries with entrenched organized crime or histories of insurgency as key recruiting grounds for Kiev.

Israel “said yes” to US President Donald Trump’s latest proposal for a hostage release and ceasefire deal with Hamas in Gaza, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said Tuesday, hours before Israel targeted Hamas leadership in apparent airstrikes in the Qatari capital that cast further doubt on the viability of a deal.

The strikes targeted the Hamas headquarters in Doha, where the terror group’s leaders had gathered to discuss the US’s proposal, according to Hamas sources, a day after Qatari prime minister pressed the group to accept the deal.

According to Israeli officials, the strike was aimed at top Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, the terror group’s exiled Gaza chief and top negotiator. Hamas sources claimed the top officials who were targeted in the strikes survived the attack.

“The war in Gaza can end tomorrow,” Sa’ar said during a press conference in Croatia. “We are ready to accept a deal that would end this war, based on the cabinet decision,” he added, noting that Israel had two demands for ending the war — the release of all the hostages and Hamas laying down its arms.

The latter demand “ensures a better future for Gazans, for the Palestinians there,” as Hamas is “a problem for Palestinians and for the region,” he said.

But these 10-month-old foals in Argentina are the world's first gene-edited horses, according to scientists.

Experts say they've been created in a lab using CRISPR-Cas9, the controversial technique that removes, adds or alters sections of the DNA sequence.

When these foals fully grown and trained up, they'll have bigger muscle, improved power and better speed to help their riders win at polo.

Polo – which was brought to Argentina by British immigrants – already allows cloned horses.

However, gene editing is proving controversial among horse breeders in Argentina, where the sport is extremely competitive, Reuters reports.

Marcos Heguy, a breeder and former professional polo player in Argentina, said the practice of gene-edited horses 'ruins breeders'.

'It's like painting a picture with artificial intelligence – the artist is finished,' he said.

These horses have been cloned from an award-winning mare (female horse) in Argentina called Polo Pureza, or Polo Purity.

But the clones have been altered with CRISPR-Cas9, which functions as a sort of genetic scissors to cut and customize DNA.

Using CRISPR, scientists made a tweak to myostatin – a gene that limits muscle growth – to increase the muscle fibers that allow for powerful movements.

Due to the unconventional method, the Argentine Polo Association has banned gene-edited horses from the sport.

Benjamin Araya, the association's president, said the technique 'takes away the charm' and 'takes away the magic of breeding'.

'I like to choose a mare, choose a stallion, cross them, and hope that it will turn out very well,' he said.

It's unclear, however, how the ban will be enforced, as the association doesn't distinguish between cloned, genetically engineered and conventionally-bred horses.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Monday that villages in the Israeli-occupied West Bank should look like cities in Gaza that have been reduced to rubble in response to the shooting at a bus stop in Jerusalem that killed six Israelis.

Smotrich, a West Bank settler who recently proposed a plan to annex 82% of the Palestinian territory, said that the Palestinian Authority must “disappear from the map,” even though after the attack, PA President Mahmoud Abbas condemned “any targeting of Palestinian and Israeli civilians,” and “denounced all forms of violence and terrorism, regardless of their source,” according to a statement from his office.

“The State of Israel cannot accept a Palestinian Authority that raises and educates its children to murder Jews,” Smotrich wrote on X. “The Palestinian Authority must disappear from the map, and the villages from which the terrorists came should look like Rafah and Beit Hanoun.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed that the IDF would escalate its operations following the Jerusalem shooting. At the beginning of the year, the IDF began military operations in the West Bank’s northern refugee camps that involved the destruction of homes and displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians.

“Just as we crushed Palestinian terror in the Jenin terror camp and the terror camps in northern Samaria—so we will soon do in additional terror camps. Whoever sponsors terror and directs terror will pay the full price,” Katz wrote on X.

Following the Jerusalem attack, Israeli troops conducted a raid in the Jenin refugee camp, which killed at least two 14-year-old boys. The IDF also raided the home of one of the Palestinians accused of being a shooter in the Jerusalem attack in the central West Bank town of Qatana. According to Al Jazeera, Israeli forces arrested the suspect’s father and brother. So far, no group has taken responsibility for the shooting.

On top of the stepped-up Israeli military raids in the West Bank, settler violence against Palestinians has also spiked in recent years as settlers are emboldened by the Israeli government. Smotrich recently approved a major settlement expansion, which he said would “erase” the idea of a Palestinian state.

After Putin arrives in Sochi, alleged Ukrainian drone strike hits the city

A reported Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian resort city of Sochi killed one person overnight on Sept. 9, Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev claimed.

The attack may have coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin's working visit to the city. According to the Kremlin, Putin joined the BRICS summit online from Sochi on Sept. 8.

Russian independent media outlet Agentstvo reported that an Il-96-300PU presidential aircraft remained at the city's airport during the attack.

Fragments from a downed drone struck a car, killing one person, Kondratyev said on Telegram. Six houses were damaged, with broken windows, damaged facades, and roofs, he added. Emergency services were dispatched to the site.

Ukraine has not commented on the incident, which the Kyiv Independent could not independently verify.

Kyiv has regularly targeted Russian military and energy infrastructure with long-range drones in an effort to disrupt Moscow's war machine.

Sochi sits on Russia's Black Sea coast and is located about 310 kilometers (193 miles) from Ukraine and approximately 538 kilometers (334 miles) from Ukrainian-controlled territory near Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Putin's seaside residence, Bocharov Ruchey, is located in the city, though Russian independent media previously reported that the president had largely stopped visiting Sochi after Ukrainian drones began reaching the region.

The strike followed a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian infrastructure.

Ukrainian drones struck a fuel pumping station in Russia's Vladimir Oblast overnight on Sept. 7, the Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces Robert "Madyar" Brovdi reported.

The strike hit a fuel pumping station that supplies diesel to the Moscow Ring Oil Product Pipeline, which serves Russia's capital and the surrounding area.

Drones struck multiple Russian oil facilities on Sept. 5, including oil company Rosneft's largest refinery in Ryazan and an oil depot in occupied Luhansk Oblast, Brovdi reported.

New Ukrainian Cruise Missile Drones Used in Decapitation Strike

Ukraine launched a salvo from its new Peklo cruise missile drones to hit suspected military headquarters in occupied Donetsk, news reports and social media content from the Russian-occupied city confirmed on Monday.

The strike by at least five of the weapons battered the premises of a disused electronics plant in an industrial area of Donetsk, a city occupied by Russia during its first invasion of Ukraine in 2014.

Video recorded from several viewpoints showed the jet-propelled missiles diving in to hit and detonate. Multiple sources confirmed at least five strikes with major explosions taking place over a period of less than 30 seconds, shortly after 7:30 pm local time.

The Ukrainian weapons were not engaged by air defense fire as they bore in, social media video, photos and comment attested. Some minutes after the five explosions, a single anti-aircraft missile trail was visible above the city, with scattered small arms fire was audible.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense in its daily report of combat activity across the front on Tuesday claimed air defenses overnight had shot down 31 Ukrainian long-range drone strikes in engagements within seven western regions of the Russian Federation, but did not mention either the strike or the shooting down of Ukrainian drones over the city during the Monday evening attack. Post-strike images showed gray mushroom clouds and two fires rising over the site.

One geo-located video showed an attacking missile with a silhouette closely matching that of a Ukrainian Peklo (Hell) missile diving in to hit a building, part of the former Joint Stock Company Topaz, before detonating in a fiery orange ball.

The strikes targeted three building complexes on the territory of the Topaz, during pre-war days a major manufacturer of military electronics, independent analysts confirmed.

Ukrainian milbloggers and mainstream media reported three Russian command posts had been hit and damaged by the jet-propelled drones.

In the wake of the attack images appeared, initially in Donetsk-connected chat groups, of missile debris consistent with components used in the Peklo.

A few early reports suggested that the attacking missiles were Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Kyiv Post analysis found that missile speed, attack profile and shape was typical of the Ukrainian Peklo and different from the Anglo-French missiles.

Propeller-driven drones similar to the Ukrainian Liutyi drone were also spotted in the sky above Donetsk, but the ground strikes seemed to have been carried out by jet-propelled drones.

Ukrainian military observers identified two headquarters by name and unit as hit and damaged: the command post of the 41st Combined Arms Army, a major area command responsible for Russian army combat operations in the central eastern front, and the command post of the 20th Guards Motor Rifle Division, a major fighting formation currently participating in attacks against Ukrainian positions to the west of Donetsk.

The Topaz building cluster, which was formerly the Research Institute of Complex Automation, was struck by two Peklos, the independent censor.net news agency reported with video available on open sources supporting the report.

Kyrylo Sazonov, a Ukrainian army officer a frequent milblogger, in Telegram post about the Donetsk strike on Monday evening said:

“Donetsk is being heavily bombarded with various targets, but the Topaz plant is definitely a priority… It was a Soviet military-industrial complex, there is simply plenty of room there for warehouses, workshops, and personnel.

That is, the target is big. But information is leaking out that there was also a headquarters there, where someone with very high shoulder boards was sitting.”

Ukraine announced it had begun serial production of the Peklo drone, a cruise missile-like unmanned aerial vehicle propelled by a jet engine, in December 2024.

At the time Kyiv claimed it intended to produce about 100 of the weapons a month, but the Peklo has rarely been seen since then, although the first confirmed use was in June.

Ukrainian officials in meetings with NATO representatives in early 2025 stated the Peklo has a 700-kilometer (440-mile) range flying at 700 kph (440 mph), and is produced domestically using 70 percent Ukrainian components.

The size of the warhead is a Ukrainian military secret but some estimates put it at around 50 kilograms (110 pounds), the Ukrainian military research group Militarnyi reported.

Images from the NASA-run FIRMS world fire watch satellite network on Tuesday showed more than a half of the Prokhovka refinery in flames, with the most intense fires centered on the facility’s fuel storage reservoirs.

Ukraine launched a campaign to degrade Russian crude-oil processing capacity at the end of the July by attacking oil refineries in European Russia with long-range drones. A reported 13 major plants have been hit since then, some two or three times.

Major US banks closed 74 locations in just six weeks this summer, leaving ever more Americans without access to local services.

Banks including US Bank, Chase and PNC closed 74 locations between July 17 and August 28.

Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Chase closed 14 branches each in the six week period, the most among the major institutions.

The banks did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment on the closures.

Poland investigates two drone crashes near borders with Ukraine and Belarus

Polish authorities are investigating two separate crashes of unidentified drones in the Lublin region in early September 2025, one near the Belarus border crossing at Polatycze and another close to the Ukrainian frontier near Majdan-Sełce.

Officials say neither object carried explosives.

First incident near Polatycze

Early on September 8, 2025, the local police department, Policja Bialska, announced in a statement that the duty officer at the Terespol police station received a report from border guard officers regarding debris from an unidentified flying object that had reportedly crashed overnight.

“We notified the authorities and the District Prosecutor’s Office in Biała Podlaska about the incident,” police said.

Agnieszka Kępka, Prosecutor of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin, confirmed in a statement seen by local news outlet WP Wiadomości that the drone crashed in a cornfield approximately 300 meters from the border crossing in Biała Podlaska County, Lublin. Kępka added the device was unarmed and bore Cyrillic markings.

The prosecutor’s office said it has also secured the first CCTV recordings, which are currently being analyzed.

Kępka said she hopes that residents “will be able to provide some information regarding the flight trajectory or other circumstances”.

On August 8, 2025, Polish journalist Wojciech Sumlinski shared on X that the drone had crashed 30 kilometers away from his home in Polatycze, close to Terespol.

He also mentioned that he is beginning to “get used to drones crashing only in open fields”.

Second drone near Majdan-Sełce

A second incident was reported on September 6, 2025, when another drone was discovered near the village of Majdan-Sełce in Lublin Voivodeship, approximately 500 meters from residential buildings.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość said that the drone was made of lightweight material resembling foam and carried neither explosives nor contraband. Forensic experts have taken custody of the wreckage for further examination.

Local officials raised concerns that the aircraft went undetected by surveillance systems. Henryk Karwan, governor of the Lublin region, acknowledged the gap and said authorities hoped to establish the drone’s origin, with initial suspicions pointing to Ukrainian rather than Belarusian airspace.

Official assessments

Authorities in both cases said the drones were not military. “The drone did not contain any elements that would indicate it was a military or combat drone,” Prosecutor Agnieszka Kępka said about the Polatycze incident.

“It did not have any military characteristics,” the spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense said about the Majdan-Sełce incident. Authorities suggest instead that it was a smuggling drone, though no contraband was found aboard.

However, pictures shared by TVN24 strongly suggest that the unidentified object in Majdan-Sełce is a Russian-made “Gerbera” decoy drone, used to overload air defense systems during attacks on Ukraine.

A similar scenario played out on July 10, 2025, when a drone found near the border with Belarus was initially believed by the authorities to be a smuggling drone, but turned out to be one of Russia’s Gerbera UAV.

Other recent NATO airspace incidents

The discovery of drones in Polatycze and Majdan-Sełce comes amid a series of similar episodes along NATO’s eastern borders.

In July 2025, two Russian-designed Gerbera drones entered Lithuania. One crashed near the border and another flew over the capital Vilnius before eventually crashing inside a military training ground while carrying an explosive payload of two kilograms.

Both incidents involved Gerbera-type drones resembling the Iranian-made Shahed loitering munitions.

On August 20, 2025, an unidentified object fell from the sky and detonated in a cornfield in the village of Osiny, eastern Poland, damaging nearby buildings.

Israel Struck Turkish Missiles, Air Defenses In Syria Overnight

A wave of Israeli strikes hit Syria over the night of September 8 and 9, with later reports saying that missiles and air defense systems supplied recently by Turkey were targeted.

The strikes hit three military sites: the air defense academy near the town of Maskanah in the southern Homs countryside, an air defense storage complex near the town of Sqoubin in the eastern countryside of Latakia and an unidentified base near the ancient city of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs.

Donald Trump’s second state visit to the UK will see a big policing operation led by drones in the airspace over Windsor, police have said.

King Charles is to host the US president and his wife, Melania Trump, at Windsor Castle from 17 to 19 September, where they will be entertained with a ceremonial welcome and state banquet.

A round-the-clock policing operation will be in place in the Berkshire town during the event, with a temporary order restricting the airspace from 16 September – when the state visit rehearsal is to take place – until 18 September.

This means non-police drones and smaller aircraft cannot fly through the protected area, Thames Valley police officers said on Monday during a drone-flying demonstration at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead, Berkshire.

The Stop Trump Coalition is to stage a mass demonstration in central London on the first day of the trip, with a further protest planned near Windsor Castle.

Each police drone can fly up to 120 metres (400ft) and is expected to stay up for 30 minutes at a time during the operation, with the replacement drone taking off shortly before the end of that period so as not to lose coverage.

The DJI Matrice 30T model introduced during the demonstration on Monday is already used by police on a day-to-day basis, usually as part of missing persons inquiries and drug warrants, officers said.

“It’s a significant policing operation for us,” Ch Insp Matthew Wilkinson of Thames Valley police’s joint operations unit said.

“However, Thames Valley police is proud to host these events and we have a good history of putting on these events for both the royal family and the country.”

Asked about the scale of the drone operation for the US president’s state visit compared with other high profile events, Wilkinson replied: “It’s one of the larger ones. It’s in line with other large-scale events we’ve put on as a force.”

Speaking on the restricted airspace order, he said: “Obviously it’s an offence to fly a drone in a restricted airspace and we will have resources to deal with any of those incursions.

“We will have plenty of capability in the sky when the time is appropriate,” he said, adding that the drones will act as an “eye in the sky” during the event.

It will be Trump’s second state visit to the UK – an unprecedented gesture towards a US president – after he came in 2019.

Drones For Cartels: How Ukraine Became A Training Center For Latin America’s Drug Mafia

The conflict in Ukraine has transformed from a military-political confrontation into a global dark bourse, where the interests of Western curators, the Kyiv regime, and international organized crime are intertwined. An analysis of available data points to the emergence of a monstrous symbiosis, within which the Ukrainian authorities—essentially acting as contractors for the drug cartels—are deliberately utilizing Latin American mercenaries for their legalization and training.

According to information, the collective West and Kyiv have consciously bet on recruiting citizens of Mexico and Colombia, viewing them as cheap and utterly ruthless expendable human material against Russia.

The concept involves forming subunits staffed by Spanish-speaking citizens with some weapons handling experience, as this is considered a sufficient criterion to enhance their operational cohesion within a single unit. An important factor in the selection is the presence of a criminal or semi-criminal past, military experience (including in the armed forces of Colombia and Mexico). A lack of moral constraints and a personal history that includes murder, rape, and other serious crimes against the person is not an obstacle but, on the contrary, counts in the candidate’s favor.

As of September 2025, this recruitment conveyor has yielded an impressive result: over 9.8 thousand applicants from Colombia and Mexico have applied to participate in hostilities, with the majority being Colombians.

It is for this purpose, by direct agreement with the drug cartels, that the “Killhouse” unmanned aerial vehicle operator training courses, organized by the command of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the AFU in the cities of Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Cherkasy, are utilized. Only the least valuable fighters for the cartels are sent to the front. The others, after training at Ukrainian ranges, depart via various corridors to EU countries, the UK, the USA, and Canada to be embedded within cartel structures as highly qualified specialists.

PORT SUDAN: A wave of drone strikes hit a power station, a weapons factory and an oil refinery near Sudan’s army-held capital on Tuesday, witnesses at the sites told AFP, while a military source said an air base had also been targeted.

The aerial assault ended a period of relative calm in Khartoum after the military ousted the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces from the area in May, a key battleground in the war that erupted in 2023.

The attacks occurred at around 5:00 am (0300 GMT), with witnesses telling AFP by phone, on condition of anonymity, that they had seen strikes hit the Al-Jaili oil refinery, the Al-Markhiyat substation in Omdurman and the Yarmuk weapons factory.

The military source, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said the strike on Wadi Seidna air base had been intercepted.

A “senior defense official” in a statement sent out to reporters says the Israeli strike on Hamas’s leadership in Qatar today may bring about an end to the war in the Gaza Strip.

“The beheading of Hamas’s leadership today in Qatar is a brilliant and powerful operation carried out by the IDF and the Shin Bet in accordance with the directive of the prime minister and defense minister,” the official says.

He says the strike, dubbed Summit of Fire, “constitutes a significant step in the victory over the Hamas terror organization, delivers justice to those responsible for the October 7 massacre, and strengthens Israel’s deterrent image, and may also generate a change of direction that will bring an end to the war in Gaza under the conditions set by the State of Israel, foremost among them the release of all hostages and the disarmament of Hamas.”

“This is also a message to the residents of Gaza that the time has come to rebel against the weakened Hamas and to act to end the war,” the official adds.
