Zohran Mamdani, a mayoral candidate in New York City, has stated he would direct the NYPD to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he entered the city, based on an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant. However, legal experts consider this pledge unenforceable because the U.S. does not recognize the ICC and state or local authorities, like the NYPD, are subject to U.S. federal law, which prohibits such action. Congress has also introduced a bill to explicitly prevent Mamdani or any other official from taking such a step.

 

Mamdani's statement: Zohran Mamdani said he would act on an ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu, calling him a "war criminal," The New York Times and that he would order the New York Police Department (NYPD) to make the arrest.

 

Legal barriers: Legal experts say such a plan is impossible to execute because of U.S. sovereignty.

The U.S. is not a member of the ICC and does not recognize its authority to issue warrants for U.S. soil.

The federal government has exclusive authority over foreign relations, and U.S. law does not empower state or local officials to enforce ICC warrants.

Congressional action: In response, Congress has moved to block such a possibility. Specifically, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik led a bill to prohibit any U.S. official from taking action to arrest Netanyahu based on an ICC warrant.

These were enumerated by virtue of NEW inventions as the ownership and utilization of property as an extension of the man in ownership of self. Enumerated only due to the novelty of the inventions and the power derived from that.

 

Seems private property was never limited.

Even slaves were used in public without some judge restricting or limiting one's right to one's own property cuz that limits the life of free men. And if the free man flogged his slave like he does his mule no one even blinked.

 

These lawless judges and officers of the court franchise have turned free men into servants and rendered private property as priveleges, not rights.

The American tradition of religious freedom was not always a feature of early colonial life. Quakers, Lutherans, Catholics and Jews were vigorously expelled from the Puritan colonies in New England. Until 1759, Jews and Protestants were barred from French North America. Throughout the Spanish colonies, the Inquisition actively persecuted (and even executed) neo-Christians, converted Jews who proclaimed Catholicism but were suspected of secretly continuing the practice of their Judaism.

 

Even the generally tolerant Dutch tried to exclude all but members of the Dutch Reformed Church from their American colonies. But the first Dutch Jews who settled in the capital, New Amsterdam, had much to do with altering the policy of intolerance.

 

In 1654, 23 refugee men, women and children fleeing from the former Dutch colony of Recife, Brazil, landed in New Amsterdam. These Brazilian Jews were the descendants of perhaps 5,000 Jews who had been living in Recife, most of them secretly, since the mid-1500s. The Dutch captured portions of Brazil from the Portuguese in 1624, and some neo-Christians openly returned to the practice of their Jewish faith. When Portugal recaptured Brazil in 1654, these Jews feared the introduction of the Inquisition and fled. They were probably on their way back to Amsterdam after a stop in Jamaica when their ship was attacked by a Spanish privateer who stripped them of their valuables. A return to Europe was now out of the question. The refugees then made a deal with the ship's captain, Jacques de la Mothe, to take them to New Amsterdam, which they thought would be a hospitable destination.

 

This was a one-sided bargain, struck in distress, and when the ship landed in New Amsterdam, De la Mothe filed suit against his passengers for failure to pay the balance of their passage. Peter Stuyvesant (1592-1672), the Dutch colonial governor with an anti-Semitic reputation, seized the Jews' meager possessions and ordered them sold at auction. When this failed to raise enough to meet their debts, he jailed two members of the group and wrote to the Dutch West India Company in Amsterdam, asking permission to expel the Jews. Stuyvesant noted that the Jews' indigence might make them a burden on the community and told the company that he “deemed it useful to require them in a friendly way to depart.”

 

In a letter now in the archives of the American Jewish Historical Society, the Jews of New Amsterdam wrote to their fellow Jews in Holland asking for help. The latter petitioned the company on behalf of the New Amsterdam Jews, noting that Jews were allowed to reside in Holland and even to invest in the company. In April 1655, the company granted Jews permission to emigrate to and live in the colony, “so long as they do not become a burden to the company or the community.” Stuyvesant then tried another tack to discourage Jewish settlement.

 

Stuyvesant importuned the colonial council to bar Jews from serving in the volunteer home guards. The council levied a special tax on Jews to pay for others to serve in their place. On November 5, 1655, Asser Levy and Joseph Barsimon filed petitions with the colonial court asking that they either be allowed to stand watch with the other citizens or relieved of the tax. After an initial rejection and a two-year fight, Levy won the right to stand watch. Levy, who had been one of the 23 refugees from Recife, would emerge as the champion of Jewish rights in New Amsterdam.

 

When, in December 1655, Dutch troops captured the Swedish territory along the Delaware River, Stuyvesant refused to issue trade permits to Jewish settlers in the new territory. Levy and others wrote to their associates in Holland protesting this discrimination, and the company disciplined Stuyvesant for his actions. The company specified that, from then on, Jews in the colony were allowed to trade and own real estate, but not hold public office, open a retail shop, or establish a synagogue. In 1656, Levy was granted one of the first trading permits. In 1657, he was denied the right to practice a trade but petitioned this injustice and won. When he received his butchers license in 1661, it explicitly exempted him from having to slaughter pigs.

 

When the English captured New Amsterdam in 1664 and renamed it New York, Levy swore an oath of allegiance to the British crown. All the rights he had under the Dutch were conferred to him under the new regime. In 1671, Levy was the first Jew to serve on a jury in North America.

 

Asser Levy lies buried in an unknown grave. In tribute, a public school and a Brooklyn park bear his name. From his humble beginnings as a penniless refugee from Recife, Asser Levy became a prominent businessman, a crusader for religious equality and a defender of Jewish rights in New Amsterdam.

Why Texas is now America’s financial powerhouse

 

Financial services firms have increased their presence in the state of Texas in recent years as they diversify their strategic footprint beyond the traditional financial hub of New York City's Wall Street. Several of the nation's most prominent banks and financial institutions have built new campuses or increased their operational presence in Texas in recent years. The trend comes following many Americans' relocations during the COVID-19 pandemic away from high-tax states like New York and California to those with lower tax and regulatory burdens.

The New York City mayoral election set to be held on Tuesday could factor into future decisions by financial firms regarding where to station their workforces. Critics of the policies advocated by Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist, have warned that his tax hike plans and other policies could incentivize businesses' departures.

 

Here's a look at five major financial firms and their presence in the Dallas area, one of the key economic hubs in the Lone Star State.

NEW YORK'S FINANCIAL SECTOR LOSING GROUND TO RIVALS

Goldman Sachs

The investment bank and financial services firm is in the process of building a new 800,000-square-foot campus in Dallas that can house over 5,000 employees. The firm currently employs about 4,500 workers in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

Goldman Sachs' Dallas office is its second-largest in the U.S., trailing only New York City and its 7,800 workers within the firm. The new Dallas campus will house employees from across the firm's various businesses and divisions. The new campus is scheduled to open in 2028 following the completion of construction, interiors and the migration of personnel.

 

JPMorgan Chase

The largest bank in the U.S. currently has about 31,000 employees in Texas, including 18,000 in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. JPMorgan Chase's headcount in the state of Texas is larger than in New York City, where it employs 24,000 workers. The firm has a campus in the suburb of Plano, which is where over 12,000 of those employees are located. The Dallas Chamber of Commerce lists JPMorgan among its major employers, with more than 10,000 employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

 

Wells Fargo

Late last month, Wells Fargo officially opened a new 22-acre campus that's home to a pair of 10-story office buildings that can house 4,500 workers. The Dallas Chamber listed Wells Fargo as having between 5,000 and 9,999 employees in the metroplex.

 

Charles Schwab

Schwab relocated its corporate headquarters from California to the Dallas area nearly five years ago, when it opened a new campus in the suburb of Westlake. Charles Schwab employs between 5,000 and 9,999 workers in the Dallas metro area, according to the Dallas Chamber's report.

Bank of America is in the process of building a new 30-story office building in Dallas, though it is keeping its headquarters in Charlotte. The firm's new tower is expected to be completed in 2027. The Dallas Chamber notes that Bank of America has more than 10,000 employees in the metro area.

A new kind of cooperation

 

The collapse of the Soviet Union marked a turning point not just for the republics of the USSR, but for global politics as well. 15 new nations emerged at this time. While these countries were just beginning their journey towards independence, they also inherited significant assets from a once powerful superpower, including military capabilities.

 

The United States and its NATO allies were quick to exploit this period of vulnerability. Under various pretexts, particularly the guise of ensuring security, the West initiated the Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) program, also known as the Nunn-Lugar Program, named after its creators, Senators Samuel Nunn and Richard Lugar.

 

The CTR initiative, executed in collaboration with the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), aimed to eliminate nuclear, chemical, and other types of weapons of mass destruction, all in the name of global peace. While that was the stated objective, the reality was more complex.

 

Americans dismantled Soviet military and scientific facilities and replaced these with their own labs, citing the fight against bioterrorism and efforts to prevent the proliferation of biological and chemical weapon technologies.

 

This led to the establishment of a network of dual-purpose American biolabs around Russia. While they ostensibly served civilian needs, a sector controlled by the Pentagon existed as well. FBI probing classified Trump-Russia evidence in ‘burn bags,’ including from Comey, memo reveals

 

The prosecution of James Comey is shedding more light on the FBI's efforts to target Trump — and potential efforts to hide evidence.

 

The FBI has launched an investigation after finding classified information tied to the baseless Trump-Russia collusion saga stashed in “burn bags,” with the Justice Department releasing some of the once-hidden records as part of its prosecution of fired bureau chief James Comey.

 

The FBI launched the preliminary investigation into the burn bag saga in July, according to an opening electronic communication made public in DOJ filings in federal court on Monday as part of the Comey prosecution.

 

The bureau said that the classified information was stashed away in a room at FBI Headquarters and was related to Crossfire Hurricane and also other FBI inquiries into President Donald Trump and his allies.

 

The preliminary investigation into the burn bag saga is authorized to use “grand jury subpoenas” and “polygraph examinations” to get answers.

 

Comey has attempted to play the victim card in his effort to dismiss his indictment on charges of lying to and obstructing Congress, but that move unleashed an avalanche of new evidence from the government showing the ex-FBI director hoped to please Hillary Clinton, cheered on media leaks he claimed he did not sanction, and hand wrote notes that directly conflict with his past congressional testimony.

 

Some of that unflattering portrait of Comey, prosecutors revealed Monday, came from hidden files that the new FBI Director Kash Patel found in burn bags and secret storage rooms at the bureau's headquarters.

 

Patel told Just the News on Tuesday that “this FBI has worked day and night to open the books for the American people and bring much needed transparency to a weaponized institution that broke trust with the public.”

 

“We have found several bags containing critical evidence on Russiagate and the Durham annex, and declassified them to show the truth about James Comey and other senior leaders' actions during the disgraceful Crossfire Hurricane scandal,” Patel said. “The transparency will continue even more aggressively every time the corporate media baselessly criticizes us, showing you more and more receipts.”

 

Federal prosecutors said in court filings that they have also unearthed a trove of personal emails showing Comey openly talked in the days before the 2016 election that he expected to be working soon for President-elect Hillary Clinton and that he was being kept apprised by his friend and FBI special government employee Daniel Richman on apparent efforts to anonymously provide information to the news media.

 

The FBI’s launch document for investigating the burn bag saga, originating with the FBI Criminal Investigative Division’s Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section, is dated July 21, 2025.

 

FBI agents said they had made a “request to open and assign a Preliminary Investigation to investigate the activities or involvement of current and/or former FBI employees for potential violations of Title 18 U.S.C. 2071, Concealment, Removal, or Mutilation Generally, and/or other related offenses, between July 1, 2016 and the present day.”

 

The FBI investigative document states that, in mid-April, “the Director’s Advisory Team was informed of the unusual discovery of highly classified and sensitive documents found inside five ‘burn bags’ located in Room 9582, a certified Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) at the FB Headquarters building in Washington, DC.”

 

The FBI said the documents that were unearthed included classified documents inside burn bags “which appeared to have been placed in the SCIF around the timeframe of the 2025 presidential inauguration — Friday, January 17, 2025 through Wednesday, January 22, 2025.” The bureau agents wrote that the documents were “presumably intended for destruction”

 

The discovery led to an “internal management review” to determine if there was a “legitimate purpose” for the documents being there and to figure out the “underlying motivation” for it, the FBI launch document said.

 

“Among the records found were many related to the FBI’s Mar-a-Lago search, the January 6 Capitol breach, the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, as well as a copy of the Classified Appendix to the John Durham Special Counsel investigation,” the FBI said.

 

The DOJ also showed on Monday that, despite Comey telling Congress he didn’t recall this, he had taken handwritten notes in September 2016 indicating he had been briefed on the so-called Clinton Plan Intelligence indicating Clinton’s 2016 campaign planned to tie Trump to Russia.

 

Special Counsel John Durham’s 2023 public report revealed that “the Intelligence Community received the Clinton Plan intelligence in late July 2016.”

This intelligence related to an alleged plan by the Clinton campaign to link Trump to Russia and Vladimir Putin in an effort to distract from her private email server scandal. The Durham report showed that Comey was briefed on the Clinton Plan intelligence by then-CIA Director John Brennan in early August 2016 and was also sent a CIA referral memo about the Clinton Plan intelligence in early September 2016.

 

Nevertheless, Comey told the Senate Judiciary Committee in late September 2020 that he did not recall this bombshell referral memo from the CIA. The Trump DOJ’s efforts to indict Comey over that piece of his testimony failed.

 

“An additional record discovered as part of this management review process was an original referral by the Central Intelligence Agency to former FBI Director James Comey,” the FBI’s newly-unearthed launch document said.

 

The counterintelligence operational lead was dated Sept. 7, 2016 and was “believed to have been missing for years,” the FBI said, with agents writing that it was found “in a storage closet adjacent to the Director’s office.”

 

The DOJ recounted some of this to the court on Monday as they pushed back on Comey’s claims that he was being selectively and vindictively prosecuted.

 

“In the spring of 2025, a team of FBI investigators was assembled to examine possible reform of policies, procedures, compliance, and culture at the FBI. During their work, FBI investigators were alerted to a seemingly unused SCIF in FBI headquarters (Room 9582) containing a random collection of classified documents. A large majority of the documents were on the floor in five burn bags,” the DOJ said. “Room 9582 was then subject to an inventory for the documents that were located inside. Investigators located hundreds of pages relating to Crossfire Hurricane … and the then-classified appendix to the 2016 Durham Special Counsel Report (now partially declassified).”

 

Federal prosecutors wrote that “the access logs showed an extended period of dormancy, where Room 9582 was rarely if ever accessed” but that “then, in late-December of 2024, access to Room 9582 began to pick up with a spike of activity occurring over the inauguration weekend (January 19 to 22, 2025).”

 

The DOJ added: “Additionally, inside a locked safe within Room 9582, investigators located copies of handwritten notes of the defendant when he was the Director of the FBI. Defendant’s handwritten notes were not known to any prior investigative teams.”

 

Comey’s lawyers in late October sought to persuade a judge to dismiss the charges against their client by claiming that he was being selectively and vindictively prosecuted.

 

“The government has singled out Mr. Comey for prosecution because of his protected speech and because of President Trump’s personal animus toward Mr. Comey,” Comey’s lawyers told the judge in court filings last month. “Such a vindictive and selective prosecution violates the First Amendment, Due Process Clause, and equal protection principles."

 

The Justice Department fired back in a Monday court filing signed by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tyler Lemons and Gabriel Diaz.

 

“The prosecution is not vindictive. The defendant has not produced ‘direct evidence’ of a vindictive motive. And he has not shown that the prosecutor pursued this case ‘solely to punish’ him for exercising his First Amendment rights. So he has not carried his heavy burden of establishing vindictive prosecution,” the DOJ lawyers said Monday. “The prosecution is also not selective. The defendant has not identified similarly situated individuals who were not prosecuted. And he has not provided evidence that the decision to prosecute him was made because of his protected activities. He has not produced the ‘clear evidence’ required for dismissing an indictment based on selective prosecution.”

The DOJ court filing added: “A duly appointed and unbiased prosecutor presented the indictment. And a duly constituted grand jury found probable cause that he committed the indicted offenses. The motion to dismiss and request for discovery should be denied, and the case should proceed to trial.”

 

Comey, fired as FBI director in 2017 by President Trump, oversaw both the politicized investigation into Hillary Clinton's illicit use of a private email server to send classified information and the baseless Trump-Russia collusion inquiry.

 

Despite going after Clinton for her improper use of a private email server, Comey himself was using a personal and anonymous Gmail account to discuss FBI matters with Richman.

 

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., told Just the News, No Noise on Tuesday that “President Trump won on the fact that, hey, we’re going to find out what happened” and argued that the new evidence delivered on that promise.

Melania Trump says she's working with Putin on reuniting abducted Ukrainian children

Ukraine's leader has estimated that more than200,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russiaor territories it controls since the war began more than three years ago.

 

WASHINGTON — First lady Melania Trump said Friday that she has been working with Russian President Vladimir Putin on reuniting Ukrainian children who were believed to be kidnapped into Russia during the war.

 

Speaking from the White House, she referred to a letter sent to Putin in August regarding children affected by the war, and said that he wrote back "signaling a willingness to engage with me directly."

 

“President Putin and I have had an open channel of communication regarding the welfare of these children," the first lady said. "For the past three months, both sides have participated in several back-channel meetings and calls, all in good faith. My representative has been working directly with President Putin’s team to ensure the safe reunification of children with their families between Russia and Ukraine."

 

Trump said that in the last 24 hours, eight children were reunified with their families.

 

“Three were separated from their parents and displaced to the Russian Federation because of front-line fighting," she said. "The other five were separated from family members across borders because of the conflict, including one young girl who has now been reunited from Ukraine to Russia.”

 

She said that she has also raised concerns about Ukrainians who were minors at the time they were displaced during the conflict, but have since become adults while living in Russia. "Given the dangers of traversing this war-torn region, their safe return requires coordinated assistance," she said. "Accordingly, Russia has agreed to rejoin the individuals who have turned 18 within a short period of time. Again, this remains an ongoing effort. Plans are already underway to reunify more children in the immediate future."

 

NBC News reached out to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office for comment.

 

Russia has taken thousands of Ukrainian children since it invaded Ukraine and started the war in February 2022. Zelenskyy has brought the issue to the attention of Trump administration officials and President Donald Trump himself.

Zelenskyy estimated in June that more than 200,000 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia or territories it controls since the war began more than three years ago. Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia’s children’s rights commissioner, has estimated that around700,000 children have been displaced since Russia's 2014 invasion of Crimea.

 

Research recently published by the Yale School of Public Health Humanitarian Research Lab said that Ukrainian children have been taken to more than 200 facilities across Russia, where they are given "re-education" courses focused on Russian patriotism or forced to participate in military training.

 

The first lady hasn't had as much of a public-facing role as in her husband's first term, and it's unusual for first ladies to get involved in foreign affairs. But when it comes to foreign policy, her spokesman Nicholas Clemens told NBC News: “The First Lady’s impact on her husband’s decision-making process is unparalleled. She possesses an unmatched level of influence compared to any adviser or cabinet member. Mrs. Trump can discreetly influence policy in a manner that is rarely observed by the public due to her singular position.”

 

Last month, she met with Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly after Trump had hand-delivered his wife's letter about children to Putin. A few days later, Zelenskyy brought a letter from his wife for Trump to deliver to Melania Trump, thanking her for writing to Putin.

 

Melania Trump and Zelenska discussed the plight of children affected by the war in Ukraine, after the American first lady launched an initiative focused on working with spouses of heads of state on the well-being of young people around the world, Zelenskyy said.

 

Melania Trump was “pleased” to meet with Zelenska, according to a spokesman for the first lady, and appreciates that “they have a shared vision — advancing the development of children.”
