US politicians push for arms deliveries

The vast majority of the US House of Representatives is calling on President Obama to support Ukraine with weapons against the pro-Russian fighters.

 

The U.S. House of Representatives has President Barack Obama overwhelmingly called for weapons to be supplied to the Ukrainian government to fight pro-Russian separatists. The resolution was passed by 348 votes to 48 and increased the pressure to Obama further.

 

Following reports that the internationally agreed ceasefire for the Eastern Ukraine was broken, the White House had announced deliveries of so-called non-lethal equipment to government troops in early March.

 

The House resolution states that Washington must Kyiv also equip with «lethal defensive weapons systems» that enabled the country to «defend its sovereign territory against the unprovoked and ongoing aggression by the Russian Federation».

A federal judge says that Michigan can’t shutter the Line 5 pipeline, possibly ending a five-year feud between Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who teamed with Attorney General Dana Nessel to shut down the pipeline.

 

In 2020, Whitmer and Nessel threatened to shut down the 645-mile pipeline that stretches from Superior, Wisconsin, to Sarnia, Canada, and has carried 540,000 gallons of hydrocarbons daily underneath the Straits of Mackinac since 1953.

 

Whitmer and Nessel say that the pipeline is at risk for spilling oil, and have moved to revoke a 1953 easement.

Samuel Alito says Supreme Court responding to Trump acting 'aggressively'

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said President Donald Trump has used his executive power “very aggressively,” in an interview with Italian news outlet Corriere della Serra.

 

Alito, a conservative appointed by President George W Bush, told the outlet that over the past 10 years, there has been “an inclination by presidents to try to do more and more and more, using their own power, or what they believe to be their own power.”

 

“And now, under President Trump, it’s just gone on like this, and he’s used his executive power very aggressively,” Alito told the outlet. “And what we have seen since the beginning of his second term, since January, is that so many of these things that he has done are immediately challenged in court. In addition to that email, the document cache Grassley released last week revealed extensive obstruction into the investigation into Hillary Clinton first by the Obama Administration, but also continuing into Trump’s first term. But on his final day as U.S. attorney, Hiland focused on one specific detail: the Deep State’s secreting of classified appendices.

 

While Hiland’s December 31, 2020 email does not identify the appendices at issue, the thread below the email from the outgoing U.S. attorney does, with then-AUSA Ross referencing the fact “that despite numerous requests, Main Justice and the FBI refused to grant us access to the sensitive law enforcement appendices to the OIG report that was issued on 6/14/2018 titled ‘A Review of Various Actions by the FBI and DOJ in Advance of the 2016 Election.’” That OIG report detailed misconduct in the FBI’s handling of its Midyear Exam investigation into Clinton’s mishandling of classified documents.

 

Given Hiland and Ross’s focus on those two appendices, revisiting them seemed in order.

 

According to the OIG Report, the first appendix discussed “highly classified information relevant to the Midyear investigation” into Clinton’s mishandling of classified information. The second appendix, the OIG Report explained, contained a more fulsome version — including Law Enforcement Sensitive information — of Chapter Thirteen’s discussion concerning whether FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe violated his recusal obligations by working on various investigative matters related to Clinton.

 

In July of this year, after having sought the release of the first appendix for more than six years, Grassley succeeded in securing its declassification. The Iowa senator and godfather of whistleblowers then released the appendix, calling it the Clinton Annex.

 

The press release Grassley issued with the Clinton Annex understandably stressed that the recently declassified appendix revealed “an extreme lack of effort and due diligence in the FBI’s investigation of former Secretary Clinton’s email usage and mishandling of highly classified information.” “Under Comey’s leadership, the FBI failed to perform fundamental investigative work and left key pieces of evidence on the cutting room floor,” Grassley wrote at the time.

ThankQ President Trump for bringing back the Battleships and updating their capabilities with the latest rail guns and lasers. I have always felt America was vulnerable without them due to modern hypersonic weapons. For far too long our aircraft carriers have been tasked to pick up the slack by getting closer to the fight then they should as we saw in the straits at the Red Sea. Battleships are designed for the brunt of the front lines, and Carriers should be at least 30 - 50 miles behind them with air support roles. We had solo F16's targeted with missiles during patrols in the Red Sea that came too close. ThankQ for keeping the A-10s also. I always felt that a-10s should be part of the navy's carrier close air support along side of F35's wingman, and F16's for countermeasures and jamming. The F35's should be used a silent stealth sentinels that should lase targets for the A10 and F16's and counter the flack they get from a higher position in a combined orchestration. The Battleship will allow us to get close in, in tighter spaces, without the fear of billions of dollars in damage should a hypersonic ever get through and deliver a huge immediate devasting strike and suppression that a carrier group was never truly designed for. This is great news.
