What do Paul Pelosi, Jimmy Buffett, Conan O’Brien, Michael Bloomberg, and Eric Schmidt have in common? They were all members of the ultra-secretive, men-only Bohemian Grove society as recently as 2023.

We know this because independent journalist Daniel Boguslaw obtained the Bohemian Grove camp membership list for that year and published it Wednesday on Substack

Boguslaw joins the rarified ranks of reporters who have succeeded in shedding light on the world’s most secretive redwood grove. Reached for comment, one club member confirmed it is a real membership list from 2023.

Since the 1980s, journalists have been trying to get inside the Bohemian Grove campground in Monte Rio in Sonoma County by posing as waiters, lost hikers, and guests. San Francisco-based magazine Mother Jones was the first to succeed, publishing an inside scoop

(opens in new tab)sSince in 1981 that described the club as the place where “men who make decisions that affect us all gather quietly.” Alex Jones famously managed to film a ceremony at the grove that fueled conspiracy theories for decades. Vanity Fair reporter Alex Shoumatoff was arrested(opens in new tab) since after posing as a member in 2008. And in 2018, Outside magazine reporter Chris Colin was threatened by Bohemian Grove security(opens in new tab) simply for kayaking up to the high water line of the compound’s beach along the Russian River.

Boguslaw didn’t pull any of those tricks. He obtained the list in 2024 by pestering a San Francisco club member.

“I went to this person’s office for a week straight,” Boguslaw said. He had driven to the Bay Area from Massachusetts after getting his hands on a 2017 attendance list, he said, and stayed in a Tenderloin single-room-occupancy hotel while he hounded the local member.

Weeks passed, and he found longer-term lodging in West Oakland. One night, while he was drinking at Eli’s Mile High Club, a courier appeared with two manila envelopes.

Inside was the 2023 camp membership list. This does not necessarily represent the full membership to the club, which meets at a building in San Francisco. Bohemian Club spokesperson Sam Singer said the club is private and does not disclose its list of members or guests.

“The Intercept spiked it in this really stupid way,” he said. “They were so freaked out.”

Boguslawisn’t worried about blowback. “I’m confident in my reporting, and I’d like to see them try to fuck with me,” he said.

The 2023 camp membership list (published below) contains around 2,200 people, many of whom are not well known. Then there are the famously rich people:Mike Bloomberg and Charles Koch, in particular.

But most members are rich people you’ve never heard of, politicians you’ve maybe seen on CSPAN, and a smattering of scientists and cultural figures thrown in to make good on the “Bohemian” part of the group’s name. Perhaps unsurprising for a boys club filled with powerful American elites, the most common first names to appear are John (128 times), Robert (115), William (85), James (84), and David (75).

Here, we highlight the Bohemian Grove members with the strongest San Francisco ties, broken down by industry. There are notably fewer tech industry people than one might have expected. This is a list of old money and power. The names are divided into “camps,” which a source tells us are like fraternities; people in the same camp party together during visits to the compound.

We reached out to some of these people for comment; none responded. It’s against the rules of the club to discuss members, their guests or any club-related activities with the press. But if you’re on this list and want to share your thoughts on this leak, please get in touch.

Curing autoimmune diabetes (type I / type 1) in mice with islet and hematopoietic cell transplantation after CD117 antibody-based conditioning

Abstract

Mixed hematopoietic chimerism after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) promotes tolerance of transplanted donor-matched solid organs, corrects autoimmunity, and could transform therapeutic strategies for autoimmune type 1 diabetes (T1D). However, development of nontoxic bone marrow conditioning protocols is needed to expand clinical use. We developed a chemotherapy-free, nonmyeloablative (NMA) conditioning regimen that achieves mixed chimerism and allograft tolerance across MHC barriers in NOD mice. We obtained durable mixed hematopoietic chimerism in prediabetic NOD mice using anti–CD117 monoclonal antibody, T cell depleting antibodies, JAK1/2 inhibition, and low-dose total body irradiation prior to transplantation of MHC-mismatched B6 hematopoietic cells, preventing diabetes in 100% of chimeric NOD:B6 mice. In overtly diabetic NOD mice, NMA conditioning followed by combined B6 HCT and islet transplantation durably corrected diabetes in 100% of chimeric mice without chronic immunosuppression or graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Chimeric mice remained immunocompetent, as assessed by blood count recovery and rejection of third-party allogeneic islets. Adoptive transfer studies and analysis of autoreactive T cells confirmed correction of autoimmunity. Analysis of chimeric NOD mice revealed central thymic deletion and peripheral tolerance mechanisms. Thus, with NMA conditioning and cell transplantation, we achieved durable hematopoietic chimerism without GVHD, promoted islet allograft tolerance, and reversed established T1D.

“Today we shared a difficult decision with our team,” Jack Dorsey, Block’s co-founder and CEO, wrote in a letter to shareholders. “We’re reducing Block by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000, which means that over 4,000 people are being asked to leave or entering into consultation.”

Block CFO Amrita Ahuja said the job cuts will position the company “for our next phase of long term growth.”

“We are choosing to shift how we operate at a time when our business is accelerating and we see an opportunity to move faster with smaller, highly talented teams using AI to automate more work,” Ahuja wrote.

Dorsey said he expects other companies to similarly overhaul their workforces as they see more efficiency gains from “intelligence tools.”

“Within the next year, I believe the majority of companies will reach the same conclusion and make similar structural changes,” Dorsey said. “I’d rather get there honestly and on our own terms than be forced into it reactively.”

have recently announced job cuts and directly attributed the layoffs to AI reshaping their workforces.

In an X post, Dorsey said he was faced with the choice of laying off staffers over several months or years “as this shift plays out,” or to “act on it now.”

“I chose the latter,” Dorsey wrote. “Repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead.”

The company had 10,205 employees worldwide as of Dec. 31, 2025, according to its annual filing.

Block announced the layoffs in conjunction with its fourth-quarter earnings results.

The payments company reported adjusted earnings per share of 65 cents on revenue of $6.25 billion, while analysts estimated 65 cents per share and $6.24 billion, according to LSEG.

Gross profit increased 24% from a year earlier to $2.87 billion.

For the full year, the company said it sees adjusted earnings per share of $3.66. Analysts anticipated $3.22 per share, according to LSEG.

As a result of the workforce reduction, the company expects to incur charges of approximately $450 million to $500 million, consisting primarily of severance payments, employee benefits and noncash expenses related to share vesting, according to a securities filing.

Block expects most of the restructuring charges to be incurred in the first quarter.

Ex-U.S. Army Ranger From Casper Jumps Into The U.S. House Race To Succeed Hageman

A former U.S. Army Ranger on Thursday formally entered Wyoming’s U.S. House race for the seat U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman is vacating to run for Senate. David Giralt said by necessity and desire, he will run a “grassroots” campaign.

A 35-year-old ex-U.S. Army Ranger and airborne officer announced Thursday that he is jumping into the Republican race to fill Wyoming’s lone U.S. House seat.

David Giralt of Casper, who among other roles has served as a policy advisor for U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, hopes to replace U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman who is running for the U.S. Senate seat Lummis is vacating at the end of her term.

Giralt said he is a first-generation American who has enjoyed opportunities growing up in Casper that never would have been possible for his parents in their native lands. His father was born in Costa Rica and mother, in Cuba.

“My parents came here with nothing and had to learn English within a year,” he said. “They sacrificed a lot for me and my brothers to grow up and have every opportunity here.”

Following graduation from Kelly Walsh High School in 2009, Giralt attended Colorado Christian University where he played soccer and obtained a business degree.From there he entered the military where he served 12 years of active-duty service that included combat deployments to Afghanistan in 2016-17 and again from 2019-20 as a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment and 82nd Airborne.

He was awarded a bronze star for his combat service. Giralt said he is not in any way a “war hawk” or someone who would promote combat. He said he sees “no reason to send anyone to any conflict unless there is a necessary reason to do so an end state that is defined and a clear exit strategy that the America people can get behind.”

Throwing his name into the race that already has three other candidates has nothing to do with those candidates, he said.

“I’m doing this for the exact same reason that I raised my right hand to serve this country and deploy to Afghanistan in a post 9/11army,” he said. “I believe in defending every freedom and opportunity that this country has given me and my family and this is just a continuation of that service.”

Giralt holds an MBA degree from the University of Wyoming that focused on the energy sector and during his time working for Lummis served as a policy advisor on agriculture, trade, immigration, law enforcement, and national defense.

He also completed graduate studies in legislative affairs at George Washington University that focused on “theoretical and practical knowledge related to the U.S. Congress, general issues in the legislative arena, and instructs students on techniques for advancing legislation,” according to his LinkedIn page.

Energy Insight

Giralt said the nation is in a competition with global adversaries in the energy sector that would “love to see America fall.” Wyoming is positioned to lead the nation and the world in terms of resources such as rare earths, critical minerals, uranium, and coal.

Based on his experiences in Washington, D.C., Giralt believes the Pentagon is “leaning in more heavily on coal” as it looks to the future.

Giralt said as he talks with people, he understands they want “security” and “predictability” in terms of things such as a tax regime for their personal lives and businesses as well as the opportunity to raise their families in a more secure state and world.

He said supporting state and local law enforcement through grants and training from the federal level are also ongoing needs to ensure the state’s residents feel secure.

On a personal level, Giralt is married to Alexandra. He promised to uphold the same values as a congressman that he did as an U.S. Army officer, saying those include service before self, accountability, and a relentless focus on results.
