Russia and Ukraine exchange 205 POWs – Moscow

The swap was carried out with UAE mediation, the Defense Ministry has said

 

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 205 prisoners of war, the Defense Ministry in Moscow announced on Friday.

 

The ministry said the Russian servicemen are currently in Belarus and are receiving psychological and medical assistance, adding that they will be taken to Russia for further treatment and rehabilitation.

 

The officials noted that the release was negotiated with the assistance of the United Arab Emirates, which has helped mediate exchanges on numerous occasions.

 

A source for RT Russian said the bodies of deceased service members were also exchanged, with Russia handing over a disproportionately larger number (526 to 41).

 

Ukraine has confirmed the swap, describing it as the first stage of a wider 1,000 for 1,000 exchange, which was announced by US President Donald Trump on May 8 as part of a US-mediated three-day ceasefire around Russia’s Victory Day commemorations.

 

Officials in Kiev said the freed group includes army, navy, and air force service members, as well as members of the territorial defense forces, the National Guard, and the Border Guard Service.

 

They added that almost all of those released were held for four years, and most were captured during the fighting in Mariupol in 2022.

 

Russia and Ukraine regularly exchange POWs and bodies of deceased service members. The last swap took place in late April, with both sides releasing 193.

We appreciate the opportunity to work with your team as your reputation is exemplary,” Juarez writes, going on to describe a partnership that will include use of a six-acre parcel in the North Gateway Area of the former Army Base. California’s involvement in Viridis grew from that $3.4 million grant pushed by Rob Bonta to $38 million in bond financing.

Explosions began around 2 a.m., and residents reported hearing between 8 and 10 powerful strikes in various parts of the city. Numerous videos circulating online show bright flashes in the sky, the sounds of drones flying overhead, and the activation of air defense systems, which were unable to prevent the strikes.

WASHINGTON — The FBI is offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of former U.S. counterintelligence agent Monica Witt, who was charged in 2019 with espionage related to allegedly providing classified information to Iran.

 

The FBI Washington Field Office announced the reward Thursday, saying Witt remains at large more than a decade after authorities say she defected to Iran in 2013.

 

Witt, a former U.S. Air Force intelligence specialist and special agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, served in the military from 1997 to 2008 before later working as a government contractor. According to the FBI, her work gave her access to classified information, including the identities of undercover U.S. intelligence personnel.

 

Federal prosecutors alleged in a 2019 indictment that Witt shared sensitive national defense information with the Iranian government and helped Iranian intelligence services target her former U.S. colleagues.

 

Authorities said Witt attended an anti-American conference in Iran in 2012 before later returning to the country, where she allegedly received housing and computer equipment from Iranian officials.

 

The FBI said Witt’s alleged actions benefited Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, which the U.S. government has accused of supporting terrorist organizations and conducting intelligence operations targeting Americans.

 

“Monica Witt allegedly betrayed her oath to the Constitution more than a decade ago by defecting to Iran and providing the Iranian regime National Defense Information and likely continues to support their nefarious activities,” Daniel Wierzbicki, special agent in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office’s Counterintelligence and Cyber Division, said in a statement. “The FBI has not forgotten and believes that during this critical moment in Iran’s history, there is someone who knows something about her whereabouts,” he added.

 

The same 2019 indictment also charged four Iranian nationals with conspiracy and aggravated identity theft for allegedly helping Witt gather information about former U.S. intelligence personnel.

‘Floating armoury’ seized and heading towards Iran

Vessel was at anchor before ‘unauthorised personnel’ took it away

A suspected floating armoury anchored near the southern entrance of the Strait of Hormuz has been snatched and is heading towards Iranian waters, according to reports.

The vessel, identified by security firm Vanguard as the 794-gt Hui Chuan (built 1984), was taken by “unauthorised personnnel” while the ship was 38 nautical miles (70 km) north-east of Fujairah.

It was anchored in the middle of the southern entrance to the Strait of Hormuz and is described by maritime databases as a “fishing support” or a “fishery patrol” vessel.

The chief security officer for the vessel said that it had been operating as a floating armoury, said Vanguard.

The Hui Chuan is flying the flag of Honduras and is registered under a Marshall Islands-based entity, SG Navigation Ltd.

SG Navigation is also the owner of the 246-dwt fishing vessel Sunny Ocean (built 1993).

The Sunny Ocean was identified by intelligence company Pole Star Global as a floating armoury owned by Chinese security company Sinoguards and operating in the Red Sea in 2024.

The Sinoguards website says the company provides a “full range of maritime security services for vessels during their transits through Indian Ocean, Gulf of Guinea and any other risky waters”.

The company, which has offices in China, South Korea and Canada, has been contacted for comment.

Floating armouries are used to store weapons offshore used by private security companies that provide armed guards for ships.

Army’s autonomy office looks beyond drone, robot platforms to ‘packages of capability’

CPE Mission Autonomy will focus first on combat engineering, fires, and logistics, the office’s leader said.

 

Earlier this year, the Army stood up the Capability Program Executive Office for Mission Autonomy (CPE Mission Autonomy) to interconnect all unmanned operations in the Army from drones to robots.

The new office won’t build or acquire them but will integrate such systems into “packages of capability” that can be tasked by commanders depending on the mission, CPE Mission Autonomy’s leader Brig. Gen. Anthony Gibbs said here at the joint Xponential/MDEX conference.

The initial focus will be to develop such autonomy packages in three areas: combat engineering, where sappers traditionally have been called upon to shape the terrain in the breach prior to ground assault, considered one of the most dangerous jobs in the military and ripe for autonomy; as well as fires and logistics.

 

These “packages of capability,” as described by Gibbs, will employ “a system of systems approach” that enables a commander to task them “much like he or she would a manned formation.”

CPE Mission Autonomy was cobbled together from existing pieces within the acquisition community: Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems and Program Executive Office Combat Support & Combat Service Support in Michigan, Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, and Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. It’s headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Va.

 

Its goal for these mission autonomy packages is to be able to interpret commander’s intent, plan, execute, and adjust as battlefield conditions change.

“When realized,” Gibbs said, “this capability will be able to understand and translate human intent into mission plans and mission execution, dynamically re-task as needed” based on factors such as terrain and the enemy situation.

 

Because CPE Mission Autonomy’s charge cuts across so many mission areas and user communities in the Army, Gibbs acknowledged that prioritizing across the service is “a big challenge.”

The answer, he said, is that Army Training and Doctrine Command is helping CPE Mission Autonomy look across user communities and determine where the new organization should focus.

As mentioned, autonomous combat engineering for mobility and counter-mobility operations, as well as replacing, displacing, and shaping obstacles, is at the top of the list.

Fires is second, starting with connecting systems the Army already has and fielding capabilities that have been demonstrated for years, including automated target recognition and call-for-fire algorithms, according to Gibbs.

“Those technologies are mature,” he said, “they’re just cross-cutting. No one owns them. We’re saying we own those spaces.”

 

Third is sustainment, especially resupply at echelon and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC).

Gibbs pointed to multiple ongoing efforts, including the Autonomous Transport Vehicle System program and demonstrations of autonomous ship-to-shore resupply using unmanned surface vessels and ground robots.

 

In contested areas, he said, the Army can no longer assume it will always be able to move people and supplies the way it did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“If you move exposed, you’re going to be targeted,” Gibbs said. For CASEVAC, he added that unmanned systems may not be the preferred answer, but the Army needs options when helicopters or other traditional assets cannot safely reach wounded soldiers.

Other mission areas will follow. Gibbs said launched effects are not in his portfolio, but CPE Mission Autonomy will help enable them. Counter-UAS and electronic warfare are also supporting efforts because “a lot of that mission can and should be done with unmanned and autonomous systems.”

 

Maneuver-related tasks such as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, as well as overwatch and maintaining contact with manned formations are still in the science-and-technology phase but could move to a higher priority later, he said.

A key enabler will be open architecture, and Gibbs prompted industry to build to open APIs and avoid proprietary interfaces, especially for counter-UAS, electronic warfare, and weapon payloads.

Ultimately, CPE Mission Autonomy will develop a reference architecture that lets the Army onboard new platforms, payloads, and enabling technologies “in a matter of weeks or even days,” rather than months or years.

The developers also said they are working to address residents’ concerns at the planning stage, adding safeguards to reduce water and energy requirements.

 

Meanwhile, grassroots opposition to data centers is gaining momentum going into the 2026 elections.

 

Built in Clusters

The United States currently has more than 3,100 data centers in operation and more than 1,800 in various stages of development, according to data provided by infrastructure intelligence and mapping platform Data Center Map.

 

Virginia, Texas, and California lead the nation in the number of data centers, according to the data. Virginia alone has a combined total of 711 currently operational, under-construction, and planned centers. Texas has a combined total of 544, and California, 333.

 

These data facilities are typically massive buildings housing information technology infrastructure, data-storage systems, and networking and processing equipment. They also require power subsystems, backup generators, and HVAC and cooling systems to prevent hardware from overheating.

 

According to a recent Pew Research Center analysis, 87 percent of existing data centers are located in urban regions, while 67 percent of planned data centers are targeted for construction in rural areas.

Iran Says It Has "No Trust" In US, Insists There Is "No Military Solution"

 

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that Tehran has "no trust" in the United States and remains interested in negotiations only if Washington demonstrates seriousness, as talks aimed at ending the war remain stalled. Speaking to Indian media during the second day of the BRICS foreign ministers meeting in New Delhi, Araghchi said military initiatives are ineffective in resolving regional crises, Turkey Today reported.

 

“There is no military solution, and the U.S. must understand this reality,” Araghchi said, according to a statement shared by Iran’s Foreign Ministry. “They cannot achieve their goals through military action, but the situation would be different if they pursue diplomacy,” he added.

 

Araghchi also said the United States and Israel had “tested” Iran at least twice during the conflict.

 

The Iranian foreign minister said one of the main obstacles during negotiations with Washington has been inconsistent messaging from American officials. Araghchi said contradictory statements, interviews and communications from U.S. officials created deep mistrust between the two sides.

 

Iran has repeatedly accused Washington of pursuing diplomacy publicly while supporting military pressure against Tehran behind the scenes.

 

Regional tensions escalated after the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, triggering retaliatory attacks by Tehran against Israel and U.S. allies in the Gulf region.

 

Although a prolonged ceasefire is currently in effect, negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent settlement have largely stalled.

 

Commenting on the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi said Iran continues to allow passage for “friendly countries” while imposing restrictions on what he described as “enemy ships.”

 

“The Strait of Hormuz is not closed to friendly countries. Restrictions are for enemy ships,” he said, although it is unclear why Iran then claims Chinese ships had been blocked until yesterday since China remains Iran's largest, if not only, oil export client.

 

“In recent days, many vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz with the assistance of our naval forces, and this process will continue,” he added.

 

Araghchi said ships belonging to friendly states and other commercial vessels must coordinate with Iranian armed forces while transiting the strategic waterway.

 

“The only solution is the complete end of the aggressive war, and afterward we will guarantee the safe passage of every ship,” he said.

 

He also reiterated Tehran’s position that Iran acted within its right to self-defense following the outbreak of the conflict.

Retired Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet is a leading voice in America when it comes to the UAP phenomenon, and he thinks whatever is going on…might not have a human explanation!

 

Gallaudet said the following, in part, on "Tomi Lahren Is Fearless" when discussing the subject:

I've not seen an alien, and we don't even, that's not really the best term in addition to extraterrestrial, because what we really don't know is where they come from, what their nature is, and again, their intentions.

It's almost surreal to even think about, but this claim isn't coming from some random guy on the street. It's coming from a retired Navy rear admiral.

Elon Musk’s X platform has agreed to help the British government police so-called hate speech after pressure from regulators.

 

X, owned by Elon Musk, has agreed to help the British government crack down on so-called hate speech online, under pressure from Britain’s media and communications regulator, Ofcom.

 

Ofcom announced on Friday that the agreement includes a committment to review and assess so-called “hate content,” reported via a “dedicated UK illegal content reporting tool,” within 24 hours on average, and at least 85 percent of reports within 48 hours. X must also engage with “experts” regarding reporting systems for “illegal hate” and “submit performance data to Ofcom on a quarterly basis” to evaluate its compliance. ,

 

“These commitments are a step forward, but there’s a lot more to do. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from civil society and other expert organizations to scrutinize these platforms, and we’ll continue working with them extensively to drive forward changes for people in the UK,” said Oliver Griffiths, Ofcom’s Online Safety Group Director.

 

X’s move to comply with Ofcom’s demands marks a significant climbdown from Musk’s commitment to making the platform a bastion of free speech after he acquired it in late 2022. Notably, Ofcom said in its announcement that it “worked with a range of organizations to gather evidence about suspected illegal terrorist content and illegal hate speech online, including antisemitic and anti-Muslim material,” with some of the organizations in question being highly controversial. Republicans Investigate Foreign Influence Ties To American Universities

 

A group of congressional Republicans are investigating foreign entities aligned with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) allegedly attempting to influence and infiltrate American universities, the Daily Caller exclusively learned.

 

Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chairman Bill Cassidy and some GOP colleagues are looking into nine universities over alleged foreign ties to the CCP, according to a series of letters obtained exclusively by the Caller. Cassidy is joined by Republican Indiana Sen. Jim Banks and Republican Michigan Reps. Tim Walberg and John Moolenaar.

 

“As you know, American universities conduct highly sensitive, critical research with direct military applications,” the lawmakers wrote in a joint statement. “Therefore, it is very alarming that countries of concern could be gaining access to research with national security implications at your institution by way of gifts and donations.”

 

“To ensure the safety of the American people and uphold U.S. national security interests, sensitive research and technology must stay out of the hands of our adversaries.”

 

A new report from the Department of Education found that 34 institutions have been the recipients of hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign entities with links to American adversaries.

 

For instance, the University of California, Berkeley received $224.5 million in funding from China, according to the funding portal. Massachusetts Institute of Technology has also received $368.6 million from China, the University of California Irvine has received $27.5 million, and the University of Arizona received $64.5 million, according to the portal.

 

CCP-aligned organizations are known to infiltrate American universities to steal sensitive military research and intellectual property under the guise of international partnership. In one instance reported exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation, CCP members enrolled in American universities established party branches on campuses with the support of their Chinese alma maters.

 

During a House Education and Workforce Committee hearing in March, Walberg detailed several incidents of potential alleged CCP spying on American campuses.

 

“Last summer there were multiple disturbing instances of potential foreign espionage on U.S. campuses,” Walberg said. “At the University of Michigan students, employees, and faculty have been charged and sentenced for conspiracy and smuggling-related crimes. At Stanford, students were approached by foreign nationals posing as peers in an effort to get students to travel to China and share research.”

 

The Republican lawmakers sent letters to nine universities Thursday asking for information regarding the various alleged transactions made with “counterparties of concern,” including organizations with ties to adversaries. These universities include Bryant University, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Arizona, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of California Berkeley, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Portland State University, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and University of California Irvine.

 

The Daily Caller reached out to the universities for comment.

Eight chilling never-before-seen UFO videos at center of explosive disclosure battle detailed by insider

A battle over UFO transparency has erupted in Washington as 'certain intelligence agencies' have been accused of withholding evidence from the American public.

Investigative journalist Jeremy Corbell told the Daily Mail there is a 'bottleneck' inside US Central Command where footage of unidentified flying objects is being blocked from reaching officials seeking access to it.

Corbell said some members of Congress are now 'dead set' on forcing the release of the material 'come hell or high water,' with some lawmakers prepared to escalate the fight if agencies continue withholding records.

 

The growing disclosure battle has now centered on 46 classified military UFO videos that lawmakers recently demanded from the Department of War last month, which have yet to be released.

Eight of those highly anticipated clips appear in Corbell's documentary Sleeping Dog, where viewers are shown brief glimpses of what he described as unresolved UFO encounters collected by the US military.

Corbell stressed the footage shown in the film represents only 'tiny glimpses' of a much larger archive of classified material tied to sensitive defense operations and unexplained aerial incidents.

 

Among the footage referenced by Corbell is what he described as full-color 'satellite footage' and 'full motion video' of mysterious flying objects that he believes Americans 'need to be able to assess' for themselves.

Corbell said the documentary was created not only to reveal pieces of the evidence, but to expose what he called the broader resistance against journalists, whistleblowers and transparency efforts surrounding UFO disclosure.

The Trump Administration released hundreds of never-before-seen files, videos and images of mysterious craft and witness accounts on May 8.

 

But whistleblower David Grusch claimed the disclosure effort is already facing resistance from within the intelligence community.

Speaking to FOX News on May 8, Grusch said: 'It has come to my attention, actually, recently as of today, there are some actors within certain intelligence agencies, to include DIA and CIA specifically, that are actually blocking some of the president's, a Presidentially appointed team in getting access and getting control of some of these historical records.'

 

The allegations fueled outrage among disclosure advocates, including Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison, who warned Wednesday on X: 'More is still classified, and I've seen some of it. If the administration doesn't release it, I will, under Speech or Debate.'

While the release marked the first large-scale UFO information dump under a sitting president, Burlison and other advocates argued the material made public was merely 'low-hanging fruit' compared to what they believe remains hidden.

Tight Security Measures

During the trip, the White House took extra precautions to reduce the risk of surveillance, hacking, or data theft by the communist regime in Beijing.

Before leaving China, White House staff collected all badges and pins issued to journalists traveling with the president, according to the White House pool report. Reporters are typically not required to return such items provided by host countries.

White House staff were also observed throwing the collected badges, pins, and burner phones into a bin at the bottom of the stairs before they got on Air Force One, according to Emily Goodin, a New York Post reporter.

Similar measures were implemented prior to entering China. U.S. officials traveling with the president were required to leave personal phones and laptops behind before entering Beijing. They were instead given burner phones for temporary, controlled use.

 

No Progress on Jimmy Lai

Trump told reporters that releasing political prisoner Jimmy Lai is a “tough one” for Xi. His comments lowered hopes for a breakthrough to free Hong Kong’s pro-democracy media tycoon.

Lai, 78, was sentenced in February to 20 years in prison under Hong Kong’s national security law.

Trump, however, said Xi is seriously considering releasing detained pastor Ezra Jin Mingri.

“I think he’s giving very serious consideration to the pastor,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

During a press briefing, Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Chinese regime’s foreign ministry, addressed questions regarding Lai after Trump’s departure on May 15.

“Hong Kong affairs are China’s internal affairs, and the [Chinese] central government firmly supports Hong Kong’s judicial authorities in exercising their duties in accordance with the law,” he said.

Rubio also told NBC News on May 14 that Trump had asked Xi about the release of Lai.

“We would like to see him released,” Rubio said. “It’s really at this point a humanitarian situation because of his age and health.”

On May 13, the U.S. House and Senate passed resolutions urging Trump to confront Xi over five political prisoners: Lai; Chinese pastors Jin Mingri and Gao Quanfu; Gao’s wife, Pang Yu; and retired Uyghur medical doctor Gulshan Abbas.

 

New Deals on Boeing Jets, Farm Goods

Trump said that China has agreed to buy soybeans, energy products, and Boeing jets from the United States following his meeting with Xi on May 14, the first day of the summit.

In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on May 14, Trump said that China agreed to make major purchases of U.S. agricultural products, particularly soybeans, which are the top U.S. export to the Chinese market.

“Last time we signed like 36 deals. This time it’s much bigger than that,” he said. “They’re gonna do a lot of soybeans for our farmers … they’re gonna be buying a lot of our farm products, which is great.”

Last year, Beijing reduced imports from the United States amid tariff disputes.

China also agreed to buy 200 Boeing aircraft, in what would represent a major commercial order for the U.S. aerospace company.

On May 15, Trump confirmed the purchase commitment, telling reporters that it could potentially rise to 750 planes. Trump also said the planes would have GE Aerospace engines.

Trump also said that Xi responded positively to his suggestion that Beijing purchase oil and LNG from the United States. China is the largest buyer of Iran’s sanctioned crude oil.

“We’re going to start sending Chinese ships to Texas, and to Louisiana, and to Alaska. And I think that was another thing that was agreed to. That’s a big thing,” the U.S. president told Hannity on May 14.

Corbell told the Daily Mail the footage featured in Sleeping Dog, available on Apple TV and Amazon's Prime Video, was never intended to function as a public 'data dump,' but rather to document the process journalists go through while assessing highly sensitive material provided by confidential sources.

'It takes a huge toll on [Corbell and Knapp], it puts a target on their backs.'

 

One clip featured in the documentary titled 'ANAMORPHIS UAP' appears to show a shapeshifting, blob-like object billowing and undulating through the sky as it is tracked by military radar.

Another video shows four log-shaped objects seemingly writhing and squirming across the night sky at high speed with no visible means of propulsion.

Additional footage labeled 'FORMATION UAP' captures three glowing lights flying in a triangular pattern while crossing over one another in coordinated movements, again without any apparent heat signature or detectable propulsion system.

 

That video was released by Corbell last year and quickly became one of the most widely discussed UAP clips online.

When asked if he believes the 46 videos will be released, Corbell said, 'With all optimism, yes.'

'Congress is behind it. The President put out a powerful statement that doesn’t just mention UFO videos; he mentions aliens and extraterrestrial life,' Corbell added.

'If people are going to follow the President’s orders, then these 46 videos are low-hanging fruit. It’s just the beginning. It’s the floor, not the ceiling.'

US and China Align on Iran, Trump Says

According to Trump, Xi agreed during their discussions that Tehran must reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The president also stated that both countries agreed Iran must never possess a nuclear weapon.

During the visit, Trump and his team made it clear to Beijing that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is in China’s best interest.

“I didn’t ask him to put pressure [on Iran], because I don’t need favors,” Trump told reporters. “I think, automatically, he'd like to see it opened up.”

China is the main buyer of Iranian crude. In 2024, about 10 percent of its imports came from Iran, and around 90 percent of Tehran’s crude oil exports are directed to China, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Trump told Hannity that the Chinese regime does not intend to stop buying energy from Iran.

“[Xi] said he’s not gonna give military equipment [to Iran]. That’s a big statement,” Trump told Hannity. “But at the same time, he said they buy a lot of their oil there, and they'd like to keep doing that.”

Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he will decide in the coming days whether to lift sanctions on Chinese oil companies purchasing Iranian oil.

Earlier this month, the Chinese authorities instructed all companies to ignore U.S. sanctions against five Chinese refiners accused of trading Iranian petroleum.

Iran sourced much of its military equipment and conventional weapons from China in the 1980s, but due to increased international scrutiny, such transfers largely stopped over the past decade. A March report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission said the Chinese regime’s cooperation with Iran has shifted toward selling technology that has both civilian and military applications, including those relevant to missile and drone development.

 

No Change on Taiwan Policy

Washington’s longstanding policies on Taiwan remain unchanged following the Trump–Xi meeting.

Trump told reporters he declined to clarify his position on Taiwan when Xi asked whether the United States would defend the island.

“That question was asked to me today by President Xi,” Trump said. “I said, ‘I don’t talk about that.’ He asked me if I'd defend them. I don’t talk about that.”

Regarding Taiwan arms sales, Trump said that he would “make a determination over the next fairly short period.”

Xi took on an aggressive posture toward Taiwan, warning the United States that it “must exercise extra caution in handling the Taiwan question,” according to a readout from China’s foreign ministry following the two leaders’ talks on Thursday.

“If it is handled properly, the bilateral relationship will enjoy overall stability. Otherwise, the two countries will have clashes and even conflicts,” Xi warned.

When asked whether Xi’s warning on Taiwan was the sharpest yet, Greer told Bloomberg on May 15 that the tone during meetings in China differed from the public statements released by Chinese officials.

“There’s a difference between the way we talk in a bilateral meeting and the statements that go out from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which … takes a wolf warrior approach,” Greer said.

China’s communist regime considers democratically governed Taiwan to be a Chinese province, even though it has never ruled the island. Beijing has demanded that countries adhere to its “one-China principle,” under which the regime claims sovereignty over Taiwan.

The United States has long maintained a “one-China policy,” acknowledging that there is only one “China” without recognizing Beijing’s sovereignty over Taiwan. Washington has also been Taiwan’s main arms supplier under the Taiwan Relations Act.

Rubio told NBC News on May 15 that U.S. policy toward Taiwan was “unchanged” and warned that it would be “a terrible mistake” for Beijing to try to seize Taiwan with military forces.

A proposed $14 billion U.S. arms sale to Taiwan is awaiting approval from Trump, who previously approved an $11.1 billion weapons package for the island in December 2025.

Taiwan expert Bonnie Glaser, who this month co-authored an article in the journal Foreign Affairs, titled “Why China Waits: Beijing Is Playing a Long Game on Taiwan,” told CNBC that there are strong reasons for Xi to hold off on an attack against Taiwan.

 

“The question is what would be the likely costs to China, even if they might be able to succeed in a military takeover,” said Glaser, who is managing director of the Indo-Pacific program with the German Marshall Fund.

 

“The costs would be prohibitive. There is no certainty of success. And the costs of failure are very high — including threatening the CCP’s [Chinese Communist Party] legitimacy,” Glaser said. “The massive purges in the PLA [People’s Liberation Army] suggests that Xi is not prepared to use force in the near future.”

 

“The PLA’s readiness has likely been significantly affected by the purges,” she said.

Yale’s documents showthat its leadership intentionally selected applicants based on their race. Yale’s documents.reveal that they studied how to use racial proxies to circumvent the Supreme Court’s prohibition on using race to select students. Yale’s admissions data demonstrate thatBlack and Hispanic students have a much higher chance of admission to Yale than White or Asian students with the same test scores.

 

“Yale has continued its race-based admissions program despite the Supreme Court and the public’s clear mandate for reform.” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “This Department will continue to shed light on these illegal practices, and demand that institutions of higher education comply with federal law.”

 

The investigation showed that, in general,Black and Hispanic applicants were admitted with consistently lower academic qualifications than their White and Asian counterparts. These facts support the Department’s finding that Yale violated the law by intentionally discriminating based on race in its admissions, in clear violation of federal law.

 

Medical schools use substantial federal financial assistance to train the next generation of doctors. The Department is continuing its focus on eradicating illegal race politics from admissions at medical schools, where quality and excellence are vitally important to public safety.

The Israeli army secretly seized and deleted parts of the 7 October security camera footage, according to a report published by Israel Hayom yesterday, in the latest revelation to deepen suspicion over the official Israeli account of the events of that day.

 

The Hebrew-language daily reported that on the evening of 9 October 2023, a classified reserve unit operating under the Israeli army’s Ground Forces Command arrived at Kibbutz Be’eri and asked members of the kibbutz’s rapid-response squad to hand over the device storing all the community’s security camera recordings. The unit commander told the exhausted residents that he needed the material “to bring the hostages home” and promised it would not be shared and would be returned in full.

 

No written commitment was given. By the following morning, the officer had left Be’eri with the recordings and headed to the Kirya, the Israeli army’s headquarters complex in Tel Aviv.

 

According to the report, the classified unit — composed of reservists drawn from elite formations including Sayeret Matkal, Shaldag, Shayetet 13 and Duvdevan, and founded around a decade ago by former officer Yoaz Hendel — “operates in the gray zones,” a reference to covert, legally ambiguous missions that fall outside the army’s regular chain of command and conventional rules of engagement.

 

On the morning of 7 October, the commander of the unit, identified only as “N,” activated the group on his own initiative and dispatched the teams to collect visual material from security cameras, dashcams and GoPro cameras belonging to Palestinian fighters.

From there, the unit lost control of the footage. Two days after the recordings were handed over, one of the kibbutz security squad members watching television recognised the now-iconic footage of an elderly Palestinian man hobbling on crutches into a Gaza border community.

 

“At that moment I was seething with rage,” he told the paper. “Because I recognised that the material came from the perimeter fence camera at Be’eri — the same camera whose footage had been handed to the officer.” The footage had been broadcast without the kibbutz’s knowledge or consent.

 

Residents of Kibbutz Be’eri who reviewed the returned material this week told Israel Hayom that the recordings had been “tampered with” and returned with deletions. The paper noted that it was unable to independently verify the claim, but pointed out that residents’ suspicions had been reinforced by a separate investigation by Israeli journalist Gali Ginat for Uvda, the country’s leading investigative current affairs television programme, which uncovered footage from the Dor Alon petrol station near neighbouring Kfar Aza — footage that the Israeli army had previously insisted no longer existed.

Asked why he believed portions of the footage had been deleted, the resident replied: “The day will come when an investigative commission is established here. The fewer witnesses there are, the less damage certain people in the military will sustain. I know it sounds conspiratorial, but the more I think about it, the more that is the conclusion I reach.”

 

The disclosure is the latest in a series of revelations that have chipped away at Israel’s official narrative of 7 October.

The MIT Lincoln Laboratory, along with others, including MITRE, RAND, IDA, the Aerospace Corporation, JPL and Sandia, was designed in the 1940s and 1950s to retain wartime scientific capability outside the civil service.

That structure has led to a network of private nonprofits with classified access that ordinary contractors do not have and that also operate one legal step removed from the executive branch.

Grusch alleged in his testimony before Congress that private contractors are carrying out UFO crash-retrieval and reverse-engineering programs to shield them from congressional oversight.

Trump has said the reductions in Europe will go beyond Germany,. telling reporters that Washington is “cutting a lot further than 5,000” troops and warning thatforces could also be withdrawn from Italy and Spain.

 

According to the Pentagon, the broader objective is forEuropean allies to take greater responsibility for conventional defense, allowing the US to scale back its military role on the continent.

 

US officials said thecanceled deployment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division, a unit of more than 4,000 troops, is part of a wider reshaping of America’s military footprint in Europe.

 

More changes are expected. Although the brigade was scheduled to go to Poland, some of its units could have been stationed elsewhere in Europe.

 

The Wall Street Journal reported last month that the Trump administration was considering removing US troops from bases in some European countries that did not support Washington during its war with Iran.

 

Still, the move was notable because the Trump administration has maintained close ties with Poland. Trump had even suggested earlier this month that some US troops could be moved from Germany to Poland.

 

Military commanders had already submitted proposals for how to carry out the 5,000-troop reduction in Germany,and many expected a gradual, organized review of the US force posture in Europe.

 

Instead, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth moved more quickly than expected, surprising many in the defense establishment.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called to annex the entirety of the West Bank during a speech at a Jerusalem Day rally on Thursday night.

 

Smotrich was addressing students and faculty at the Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva in Jerusalem - a flagship institution of the Religious Zionist movement, established by the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of British Mandatory Palestine, Abraham Isaac Kook, in the 1920s. Smotrich studied at the institution when he was younger.

 

"We have organized all the new young settlements, and approved more than a hundred new settlements in Judea and Samaria," Smotrich said.

 

"In the last three years, we have approved 60,000 housing units in Judea and Samaria. The people of Israel are returning home, and this time forever!" he continued.

 

"The time has come to finally erase the lines that separate Areas A, B, and C. I placed a detailed plan on the cabinet table this week, and I call on the prime minister to adopt it. All of the land of Israel is ours," he added.

 

Areas A, B, and C are categories for administrative divisions of the West Bank established under the Oslo Accords.

 

"For two and a half years, we have been in the midst of a hard and long war - a war that also costs us heavily, but also with great achievements on all fronts," he said, naming several senior Iranian, Hezbollah, and Hamas leaders killed since the October 7 massacre.

 

He also praised the passing of the controversial death penalty bill, saying that Nukhba force terrorists will "soon go to hell."

 

'Enemies of Israel weaker than ever,' Smotrich says

"We still have work to do on all fronts. Even during the Six Day War, which returned us to Jerusalem with a brilliant victory, did not end the wars. But even today, the State of Israel is stronger than ever and its enemies weaker than ever," he said.

 

"In the economy, we are seeing the fulfillment of prophecies. From a state of refugees with austerity and shortages, to an economic power. While fighting on seven fronts, the shekel strengthens, the stock exchange breaks records, and foreign investments flow into the country," he said.

 

"Tonight we celebrate the miracle, and tomorrow we continue the work, the building, and the planting," he concluded.

 

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also spoke at the event, Israel's public broadcaster KAN News reported.

 

During his address, Ben-Gvir stated his desire to establish settlements in Lebanon.

he fascination with “non-human intelligence” has exploded alongside growing instability across the globe. We are watching a generation become increasingly open to supernatural explanations while simultaneously drifting further from God’s truth.

 

That was the focus of a recent interview released by L.A. Marzulli in which a Christian woman named Deborah described terrifying encounters she says began in 1999 while living in Chicago.

Marzulli opened with a warning that immediately framed the conversation around prophecy and discernment.

“UFOs are real. The abduction phenomena is real,” he said. “Why should this surprise us? The Lord himself tells us it’ll be like the days of Noah when He returns.”

 

That statement cuts directly into the modern disclosure movement. For decades, popular culture conditioned people to expect alien visitors from distant galaxies.

But Marzulli argued these manifestations are not extraterrestrial at all. He pointed to Genesis 6, Matthew 24 and Daniel 2:43 as evidence Scripture already warned humanity about deceptive supernatural entities operating in the last days.

Deborah’s testimony added a deeply personal dimension to the conversation.

She explained that she became a Christian at 14 years old and remained committed to her faith throughout her life. Then, after relocating to downtown Chicago with her husband for his tech job, strange experiences began unfolding in the middle of the night.

“I went into what I can only describe as a deep freeze,” Deborah said while recounting one of the first encounters. “I could not blink my eyes. I could not move.”

 

She described seeing gray beings with oversized black eyes emerge through the wall of her bedroom before one allegedly moved inches from her face.

“It was as if he was trying to suck the thoughts out of my head,” she said.

 

The interview became even more unsettling as Deborah described encounters involving mantis-like creatures, tall humanoid figures and what she believed was a fallen angel presenting itself as a beautiful being from another world.

She immediately recognized the deception. “He said, ‘I’m from another galaxy, another star system,’” Deborah recalled. “And as soon as he said it, he knew that I knew he was lying.”

 

Throughout the interview, Deborah repeatedly rejected the idea that these encounters were extraterrestrial in nature. Instead, she described them as spiritual persecution.

“I have seen this as a persecution, a continuation of persecution like the martyrs of old,” she said.

 

That distinction matters because one of the greatest dangers surrounding disclosure is the gradual normalization of supernatural phenomena apart from God’s Word.

Society increasingly interprets spiritual manifestations through the language of advanced civilizations, cosmic evolution and interdimensional intelligence rather than recognizing the reality of spiritual warfare.

As believers, we should not be surprised that the enemy would attempt to repackage ancient deception in a modern form that sounds scientific and sophisticated. Scripture already warned us these days would come.

 

Marzulli repeatedly returned to the words of Jesus concerning the days of Noah and argued that humanity is witnessing a modern replay of ancient rebellion and deception.

“The UFO phenomena is being rolled out. Do not be deceived,” he warned near the end of the interview.

For us as Christians, none of this changes Scripture. It confirms it.

 

The Bible already speaks about fallen angels, deceptive spirits and supernatural manifestations that would intensify in the last days.

Ephesians 6 reminds us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.”

Jesus warned repeatedly about deception before His return. Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 4 that “some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

That is why we cannot afford to ignore this conversation.

 

People are frightened. People are curious. People are searching for explanations. If we remain silent while the world offers counterfeit spiritual answers, confusion will only deepen.

At the same time, we do not need to fear every headline tied to disclosure. No government report, viral video or mysterious encounter rewrites the authority of Scripture. No new theory overturns the Gospel. No so-called revelation changes the identity of Jesus Christ.

If anything, the growing obsession with UFO disclosure reveals how desperately humanity is searching for meaning beyond the material world. The hunger for supernatural answers is real. The deception is real. But so is the truth.

And that truth has not changed.

Mystery of the Janet Flights and the Link to Area 51

Recent developments have sparked renewed interest in the secretive military site known as Area 51, particularly following the release of previously classified UFO-related files.

A top-secret Air Force jet, commonly referred to as a “Janet,” has been observed making multiple trips to this highly restricted location just days after the first batch of UFO documents were made public.

 

The aircraft in question, a Boeing 737-600 with the registration number N273RH, was recorded leaving the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), which houses Area 51, at 1:57 PM ET.

This flight followed a 40-minute trip into the Tonopah Test Range, often called Area 52, approximately two hours earlier.

According to data from the flight tracking website ADSB Exchange, this marked the fourth time the mysterious plane had left the facility on that particular day alone.

 

The Janet fleet is used by the US military to transport government contractors, officials from the Department of War, and military personnel to secure facilities housing classified information and technology.

The specific Janet in question has been seen making numerous flights to and from both Area 51 and Area 52 in the days following the historic release of UFO files by the Pentagon on May 8.

 

Area 51 has long been a focal point for UFO researchers and conspiracy theorists, who believe that secret government projects have taken place there since the 1950s.

Over the years, numerous claims have emerged about unidentified objects being sighted over the area, some of which do not resemble conventional aircraft or human-made technology.

 

According to Flight Aware, the N273RH has made more than 60 trips between Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and the massive military complex since April 26.

Of these, 23 flights occurred after May 8, the day when 162 files on UFO sightings, FBI witness interviews, pictures, videos, and audio transcripts of unexplained encounters were released as part of the Trump Administration’s disclosure campaign.

On Wednesday, the Janet was seen flying into Area 52 near Tonopah. However, on May 7, the day before the UFO disclosure began, the same aircraft was observed landing at Groom Lake at least twice.

Groom Lake is a dry salt flat in Nevada used as an airfield and runway for personnel arriving at Area 51.

 

Despite the US government and the Pentagon maintaining that there is no physical evidence of UFOs or extraterrestrial life, the NTTR has been associated with secret research on advanced aircraft and propulsion technology for many years.

David Crete, a former Air Force Sergeant who was stationed at NTTR, previously told the Daily Mail that the F-117A Nighthawk, America’s first stealth bomber, was developed and tested at the base.

 

In February, US Congressman Eric Burlison of Missouri revealed that he had requested and been granted access to secure locations, including Area 51, as part of Congress’s investigation into UFO-related government secrets.

That same month, President Trump ordered the release of all information held by the federal government, intelligence community, and military regarding UFOs and alien life.

However, members of Congress have claimed that key pieces of evidence are still being withheld.

 

House Oversight Committee members Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna had previously stated in 2023 that members of the “intelligence community” denied them access to the SCIF, a secure room used by the government and military to discuss highly classified information.

Last month, Rep. Luna revealed that the Pentagon had failed to meet an April 14 deadline to deliver 46 videos containing footage of UFOs over military facilities and war zones.

A second wave of UFO documents is reportedly expected to be released at some point this month, continuing the ongoing debate and speculation surrounding the existence of extraterrestrial life and the activities taking place at Area 51.

Trial set for three defendants charged over alleged arson near Iran International

A trial date has been set for three defendants charged over an alleged arson incident near Iran International’s studios in northwest London, with the case scheduled to begin on January 25, 2027, at the Central Criminal Court.

 

At a preliminary hearing on Friday that lasted about 30 minutes, Oisin McGuinness, 21, and Nathan Dunn, 19, appeared by video link before Mrs. Justice Cheema-Grubb at the Central Criminal Court.

 

A third defendant,who is under 16 and cannot be named for legal reasons, is also charged in the case.

 

No pleas were entered at Friday’s hearing. A Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing has been set for August 28, 2026, when pleas are expected to be heard. The trial is listed for three weeks.

McGuinness, Dunn and the third defendant are charged with arson with intent to endanger life, contrary to the Criminal Damage Act 1977.

 

The charges relate to an alleged incident on April 15, 2026, when an ignited container was thrown into a car park near the network’s studios in northwest London.

 

There were no reports of injuries or damage following the attempted attack.

 

Officers pursued a black SUV which later crashed on Ballards Lane in Finchley.

 

McGuinness also faces a charge of dangerous driving, contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988, in relation to alleged driving on Ballards Lane and Woodberry Way.

 

McGuinness and Dunn were remanded in custody. The third defendant is on remand under local authority supervision.

All charges are alleged and have not been proven.

 

In a statement , Iran International said the attack highlights increasing pressure on its journalists and their families, particularly following the recent war involving Iran.

Countries should pay Iran annual fees for fiber-optic cables that pass beneath the Strait of Hormuz, an Iranian lawmaker said, saying that hundreds of billions of dollars in financial transactions move through the lines each day.

 

“The Strait of Hormuz is a God-given treasure, like other mines and reservesplaced at Iran’s disposal,” said Hossein Ali Hajideligani, a member of Iran parliament’s presiding board.

 

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for the digital economy, with several undersea fiber-optic cables running across the seabed and linking India and Southeast Asia to Europe through the Persian Gulf states and Egypt.

 

Iran had previously warned that submarine cables in the Strait of Hormuz were a vulnerable point for the region’s digital economy, raising concernsabout potential attacks on critical infrastructure.

 

Last week, IRGC-linked media called for Iran to generate revenue from undersea internet cables passing through the Strait of Hormuz, framing the waterway not only as an energy and shipping chokepointbut also as a digital pressure point.

 

Hajieligani saidIran should also impose fees on ships passing through the waterway, citing guidance he attributed to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s messages.

 

He also called for an end to negotiations with the United States, saying Washington had “miscalculated” and was using the process to buy time rather than accept what he called Iran’s “absolute right.”

 

He said the US was the one that sought a ceasefire and alleged that Washington was after buying time for domestic political purposes.
