Originally, the ceremony was seen as a bribe that was offered to Satan, similar to the Azazel bribe described in Leviticus 16. A rooster was chosen for the bribe because (1) it was an animal that was not allowed to be sacrificed to God, and therefore an appropriate sacrifice for a devil, and (2) the masses thought that this bird resembled Satan: it had horns like Satan and its feet resembled the demon’s feet. The rooster was slaughtered with the sacrificial formality of laying of hands so that it would be accepted as a suitable sacrifice/bribe by Satan to induce the demon not to disparage Jews before God during Yom Kippur when Jews believed that their future fate was being determined by God in a heavenly judicial proceeding in which Satan served as prosecutor.

Yet, remarkably, in his commentary to Leviticus 16:8, Nachmanides, like many others, states that God told the Israelites to bribe Satan by sending him a goat that resembles him every year on the holiday of Yom Kippur. This was the Azazel goat. The purpose of the bribe, as stated earlier, was to stop the demon from traveling to heaven on this day, when decisions were being made concerning the future life and death of Jews, and persuading God to punish the Jews for their sins during the past year.

The purpose of kapparot according to Nachmanides and many others was identical. Although the destruction of the Temple in 70 C.E. stopped the public ceremony of Azazel, the bribery continued by individual Jews performing the kapparot rite.

 

The ancient custom of kapparot was to toss the entrails of the sacrificed rooster on the roof of one’s house. Like the water, the masses were convinced that the roof was a dwelling place of demons.

The practice of leaving food for Satan as a bribe was altered in ancient times to disguise its original superstitious intention. Natronai Gaon, the ninth-century head of the academy in Sura, Babylonia, reports that in his time food was no longer thrown into water or placed on roofs but was given instead to the poor. This was a somewhat subtle subterfuge since the masses were convinced that Satan frequently disguised himself as a poor man in order to test people. Thus the food was expected to end up in Satan’s hands.

🗳️ELECTION CRIME CASES: Today, the Justice Department announced charges and guilty pleas involving 12 individuals, including three illegal aliens, in connection with illegal voting, fraudulent voter registration, and related election crimes across the country.

 

The cases include:

President Trump is willing to give Iran sanctions relief and release Iranian frozen funds in return for concrete Iranian steps regarding the nuclear program, U.S. officials say.

 

But Trump took to Truth Social Monday evening to say such reports were "untrue."

 

Why it matters: The apparent U.S. message to Iran comes as Qatari and Pakistani mediators try again this week to strike a deal between the two warring countries.

 

At the moment, the two sides are far apart on key issues. Iran wants talks to focus on the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. naval blockade, while the Trump administration is demanding that Iran agree to nuclear concessions.

But the offer provides a glimmer of hope for a diplomatic breakthrough after Trump rejected Iran's most recent offer.

 

Driving the news: The mediators are meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York today to discuss a Qatari proposal that the parties have been negotiating the last few days.

 

Qatari mediators are expected to meet with Trump administration officials later Monday or Tuesday to try to reach a breakthrough.

A U.S. official with knowledge of the indirect talks called them "positive and constructive" and said Iran "has indicated they are flexible on the nuclear issues."

But the official also noted there are still gaps and stressed there won't be a deal "unless the nuclear issues are addressed."

"The sides still remain apart on the timing of the commitments and who takes which steps first," the official said.

 

What they're saying: "The Strait of Hormuz traffic continues to rise and the blockade and sanctions continue to degrade Iran's position. The U.S. position gets stronger every day and President Trump remains patient and fully committed to his goal that Iran never have a nuclear weapon," the official said.

 

The person added that the White House is skeptical about Iran's promises and accused the Iranians of breaking the last memorandum of understanding by firing at commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz in July.

"The U.S. needs assurances this time that Iran is serious and it's not just them trying to get out of the tough situation they are in," the official said.

Elon Musk is criticizing New York’s voting rules after his mother, Maye Musk, said a woman at a polling place angrily knocked away the ID she offered while voting.

 

Maye Musk, the 78-year-old model, dietitian, and author, was responding to a list of the 14 states that still refuse to require voter ID at the polls. Those states, as conservatives have noted for years, reliably deliver Democratic wins.

 

“Definitely New York,” she wrote. “When I voted and showed my ID, the woman was angry and hit it away.”

 

That is not a first for Maye. During the 2024 cycle she said early voting in New York City required no ID at all and that workers “won’t even look at your ID.” Later she described being told to sign a form, stuff it in an envelope, and drop it in a box while the worker “refused to see my ID.”

 

After his mother, Maye Musk, described being met with hostility when she tried to show identification at a New York polling place, the X owner dropped a charge that Democrats in the country’s two largest blue states have spent years pretending is “disinformation.”

 

Don’t take Musk’s word for it. Take Letitia James.

 

The New York Attorney General’s official voting-resources page states, in black and white, that voters “are never required to present photo identification to cast an in-person ballot” and instructs New Yorkers: “If you see or hear of anyone improperly requesting voter identification, contact OAG.” Read it here.

 

Poll-worker guidance tracks the same line: do not ask for ID unless the voter file is already flagged. Signature matching is the substitute. No photo. No citizenship check at the table. Just a scribble.

 

That is why a poll worker would get angry at a woman holding out a government ID. The training says don’t look. The AG’s office says report the person who asks.

 

California is even more aggressive. In 2024, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1174, which bars cities and counties from requiring identification at the polls, a direct strike at Huntington Beach after voters there passed their own ID rule. Courts later killed the local measure. Sacramento made sure no charter city could close the barn door.

 

As The Gateway Pundit reported last month, California still lets applicants register online with no driver’s license and no Social Security number. The state’s own acceptable-ID list for the rare first-time voter who actually gets asked includes a gym card, an insurance card, or a credit card.

Dead Woman Found with Stab Wounds in New York’s Central Park Identified

As reported over the weekend, a woman in her 60s was found dead with multiple stab wounds and trauma to the head in Central Park on Sunday.

 

The victim was found in a gazebo near Central Park’s Boathouse, according to The New York Post.

 

On Monday it was reported that a suspect, a homeless man, was arrested and charged with murder.

 

“Police arrested Jonathan Robles, 36, Sunday night and charged him with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities said Robles is a resident of the Barbour Hotel, a Midtown homeless shelter. He later surrendered to detectives and was being evaluated at a hospital ahead of an expected arraignment,” ABC 7 reported.

 

According to The New York Post, the victim was identified as a homeless artist named Lee Rogers.

 

Lee Rogers painted birds of Central Park and was known to the community.

 

The New York Times previously profiled Lee Rogers.

 

According to The Post, Lee Rogers and Jonathan Robles got into an argument before it escalated to violence.

 

The New York Post reported:

 

A beloved homeless artist famed for painting the birds of Central Park was the woman found viciously murdered in a gazebo near the park’s boathouse, The Post has learned.

 

Lee Rogers, 63, who buoyantly peddled intricate wildlife watercolors during her years of sleeping rough in the wooded Manhattan haven, died after being bludgeoned by a stick-wielding madman Sunday, law-enforcement sources said.

 

“She was like the Grandma Moses of Central Park,” said Robert DeCandido, a nature walk guide, referring to the 1950s American folk painter.

 

“When she did the bird feeders, the birders loved her. They would buy her artwork in the park,” DeCandido, who goes by “Birding Bob,” told The Post on Monday.

 

Sources said Rogers and Robles got into some type of argument that escalated into violence, although the details were unclear.

On his way out the door as the failed governor of Minnesota and failed Vice-Presidential candidate, Tim Walz (D), conducted what amounts to an ‘exit interview’ with the Minnesota Star-Tribune.

 

First, he stated the obvious after staggering fraud was allowed under his ‘leadership,’ resulting in taxpayers being defrauded of billions of dollars.

The fraud, according to Walz, “should have stopped it sooner.”

 

“We didn’t stop them. I accept that. I think there does need to be accountability with that. And part of it is that, yep, that’s with me, I’ll step aside.”

 

Walz then hoped history would be kind (or perhaps blind?) to his leagacy and focus on his “accomplishements” rather than his obvious failures.

 

“Those are legacy things to address climate. They’re legacy things to address livability,” Walz said. “And I get it, that fraud tainted a lot of that. It doesn’t change the fundamentals underneath it. This is the best state in the country to raise a child, and it will continue to be so because of those investments.”

 

Several lawmakers in Minnesota spoke to Fox News Digital and they are less inclined to let Walz off the hook.

 

“Governor Walz is correct, he shouldn’t only be remembered for fraud,” Minnesota state Sen. Julia Coleman told Fox News Digital. “We should remember him spending our $18 billion surplus, raising taxes $10 billion, creating an unsustainable budget, letting rioters burn down Minneapolis, hurting our students and businesses with lockdowns and pardoning a child rapist.”

 

Minnesota Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth, running to replace Walz in November, shared:

 

“Tim Walz’s legacy will always be defined by the out-of-control fraud crisis that occurred on his watch,” Demuth said. “Yet Amy Klobuchar praised him as ‘an incredible leader who delivers for the people of Minnesota.’ As the senior member of our state’s congressional delegation, Sen. Klobuchar likewise failed to address the fraud crisis and even skipped hearings on the matter in D.C. Minnesotans deserve better than four more years of Walz-style failure.”

Longtime Trump loyalist Kurt Olsen and at least six other prosecutors have departed the so-called 'grand conspiracy' investigation in the Southern District of Florida - delivering a major blow to the Justice Department's long-running probe.

 

News of the departures, first reported by the Daily Mail, follows weeks of uncertainty over the fate of the investigation in Miami following the abrupt resignation of Trump ally Joseph diGenova earlier this month.

 

DiGenova had been tapped by Attorney General Todd Blanche in April to probe whether US intelligence and law enforcement officials, including former President Barack Obama's CIA Director John Brennan, were part of a years-long plot against Donald Trump.

 

News of their exits casts fresh doubt as to next steps in the wide-reaching investigation in Florida - which sources previously told the Daily Mail had been hitting dead ends for 'months.'

 

It was not immediately clear what, exactly, prompted Olsen's resignation from the probe, or if his departure was tied to others who had departed as of Monday evening.

 

A source familiar with the matter told the Daily Mail the total number of departures was between seven and eight.

 

Neither the Justice Department nor the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida immediately responded to the Daily Mail's request for comment.

 

The Daily Mail had exclusively reported last week that the so-called grand conspiracy probe was on the rocks - though DOJ officials had insisted the investigation would continue.

 

Maria Medetis Long, a senior career prosecutor, was reportedly taken off the case earlier this year after she expressed concerns about the strength of the evidence.

 

A coterie of Trump-friendly names was assigned to the probe instead, including longtime Trump ally Joseph diGenova, and Kurt Olsen, a former White House official and 2020 election denier.

 

As of this writing, both diGenova and Olsen are gone.

 

Olsen did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment.

 

The Daily Mail previously reported that the probe in Miami had been hitting dead ends for months - suggesting that the so-called 'grand conspiracy' probe that the president has obsessed over, publicly and privately - for the better part of the last six years – is all but dead.

 

'This case was initiated to make the president and the public think something is happening down there, when in reality, it's not,' one DOJ official told the Daily Mail last week.

 

A DOJ official disputed the notion that the case in Florida is stalled and has no support from Main Justice.

 

Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter and another attorney traveled down to Florida after DiGenova's departure to check in on progress, a law enforcement official told the Daily Mail last week.

Mississippi: On July 4, 2026, Nolan Wells, a black 18-year old man, went to a party on an island, traveling by boat with his white friends to attend the gathering with about 300 of his former high school classmates.

He did not go home when his friends left, and he reportedly told them he would find another way home. Wells’ body was found on the shoreline two days later. Investigators initially reported that there was no evidence of foul play and that drowning was suspected.

Crump speculated that foul play was involved in Wells’ death and he alleged racial bias in the investigation. China has vowed to support Cuba against external interference after US President Donald Trump said Havana “will fall” and called for “fundamental change” on the island.

 

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun made the pledge on Monday as Beijing and Havana marked 66 years of diplomatic relations, saying China will support Cuba in “safeguarding its national sovereignty” and pursuing a “development path suited to its national conditions.”

What’s happening in Cuba?

Cuba is enduring its worst economic crisis in decades, marked by chronic fuel and food shortages and prolonged blackouts. Decades of US sanctions have restricted access to financing, fuel, and equipment, compounding low domestic production, dependence on imports, and aging energy infrastructure.

 

The crisis intensified sharply this year after oil deliveries from Venezuela and Mexico, which together accounted for around 86% of Cuba’s imported crude oil last year, dried up, according to S&P Global. Venezuelan shipments stopped following the US military operation that removed President Nicolas Maduro in January, while Mexico paused deliveries as Washington threatened tariffs on countries that supply Cuba with oil.

 

Why is the US squeezing Cuba?

Can we get a periodic counter of all diseases/illnesses Super Intelligence cures? I thought the cancer blood screening thing was cool, and the age markers reversal stuff was cool too. Might be a fun morale boost for those of us who are always worried about health haha
