A 1960 Paper Published In Science Predicts World Will End Next Month

A physicist has put a definite date on Doomsday," The New York Times wrote on November 4, 1960. "He calculates that it will come on Friday the Thirteenth in November, 2026 A. D. On that date, or thereabouts, the human population will have expanded so far as to approach infinity and thus will automatically annihilate itself." The newspaper was right – but the prediction was wrong. That week, Austrian American physicist Heinz von Foerster and two colleagues published a paper in Science with the stunningly succinct title "Doomsday:Friday, 13 November, A.D. 2026."

The work was based on a simple observation: The time it took for the human population to double in size kept getting shorter. Using population estimates from about 400 B.C.E. until 1958 C.E., the authors all from the department of electrical engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign came up with an equation that best described the trend. If things continued the way they were going, the number of humans on Earth would rise faster and faster, reaching more than 25 billion by 2020. The researchers didn't calculate when humanity would run out of food, land, or energy. They just concluded that at some point this year, the equation ceased to give meaningful results because the predicted population shot toward infinity. That was their doomsday. "Our great-great-grandchildren will not starve," they wrote. "They will be squeezed to death."

The exact date was somewhat arbitrary, however. The formula solved to 2026.87 plus or minus 5.5 years, and The New York Times reported that von Foerster "searched the center of this doom-time span for an appropriate date and found that a Friday the Thirteenth would fall conveniently in November of 2026." (November 13 also happened to be his birthday.) […] [D]emographers, annoyed by what they saw as a provocation by outsiders, pointed out obvious flaws. For example, the time it takes for the number of humans to double could get a lot shorter, but certainly not shorter than the 9 months it takes for a baby to develop. "In view of the comments that subsequently were published in this journal, an extensive discussion of this article does not seem to be required," public health expert Harold Dorn drily noted in Science 2 years after von Foerster's article was published. The forecast would set a record, he predicted, "for the short length of time required to demonstrate its unreliability."

Goebbels is applauding’: Israel attacks Nobel committee for honoring Gaza genocide investigator

Some 74,000 people have been killed and 175,000 wounded in West Jerusalem’s airstrikes and ground offensive in the Palestinian enclave, according to the local authorities

Israel is angry that the Nobel Peace Prize committee has honored Navanethem ‘Navi’ Pillay, who chaired a UN commission accusing it of genocide in Gaza. Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels would have welcomed the decision, the Israelis said.

The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory concluded in September 2025 that Israel was “responsible for the commission of four genocidal acts in Gaza with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza.” Israel vigorously disputed the findings of Pillay’s team.

A year earlier, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza, including intentional targeting of civilians and using starvation as a method of warfare.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on Friday that the 125th Nobel Peace Prize would go to Pillay for “her efforts to promote peace and international law.” The 85-year-old South African lawyer, who was an ICC judge between 2003 and 2008, “has been instrumental in ensuring that war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide are prosecuted,” it said.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a post on X later in the day that honoring Pillay was a “grotesque weaponization of an award to legitimize anti-Israel hatred and prejudice.” The jurist was responsible for a “relentless, politically motivated demonization of Israel,” it claimed.

The ministry called the accusations of genocide against Israel “the biggest lie of the 21st century,” saying that “Joseph Goebbels is certainly applauding from hell” the decision by the Nobel committee.

Goebbels was a loyal follower of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister between 1933 and 1945, who advocated the extermination of Jews.

The office of the Israeli prime minister suggested that the Nobel committee “has lost its moral compass” by giving the prize “to a bigot who built her career around inventing and propagating blood libels against the one and only Jewish state.”

Vladimir Zelensky has refused multiple opportunities to settle the conflict with Russia, the US president has said

Ukraine should replace Vladimir Zelensky, US President Donald Trump told reporters outside the White House on Saturday, accusing the Ukrainian leader of refusing peace deals with Russia and worsening global diesel shortages.

“I think it’s time for Ukraine to get a new president,”Trump said.

“Zelensky could have settled this war many times. Many, many times. And he chooses not to,” he said.

Trump also accused Zelensky of ignoring warnings against attacking Russian refining facilities.

“We said, you can do whatever you want to Russia, don’t hit the refineries, because that’s a world problem that’s caused. And he wants to make problems for the world,” Trump said. “And what does he do? He goes and hits the diesel fuel.”

I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal.

Zelensky’s mandate as president expired in 2024, but he has retained power since, citing martial law. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that this could undermine an eventual peace deal signed with Kiev.

Trump’s statements came a day after his phone call with Putin, during whichthe two presidents agreed on a deal aimed at easing the global fuel crisis. The US Treasury temporarily waived sanctions on Russian diesel exports immediately after the conversation.

According to Trump, Moscow agreed to the immediate release of 300,000 metric tons of diesel, followed by another 500,000 metric tons next month.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has confirmed that Moscow is ready to provide the fuel to Washington and other international buyers, and said that exports could be increased to one million tons by December.

Russia will begin lifting its diesel export restrictions ahead of schedule, he said.

President Trump Files Petition with Supreme Court to Revive RICO Lawsuit Against Crooked Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and Russia Hoax Cabal After Nearly $1 Million in “Frivolous” Sanctions

President Donald Trump asked the U.S. Supreme Court to revive his dismissed lawsuit against his 2016 Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, accusing her, along with disgraced former FBI Director James Comey and numerous Democratic operatives, of conspiring to undermine his 2016 presidential campaign by falsely linking him to Russia.

Trump filed the petition on Friday, after Justice Clarence Thomas granted an extension of the deadline.

The move comes after a federal judge threw out the case and imposed nearly $1 million in sanctions against Trump and one of his lawyers for bringing what the courts labeled a “frivolous” suit. A U.S. appeals court subsequently upheld both the dismissal and the sanctions.

As The Gateway Pundit reported when the landmark RICO action was first filed in March 2022 in federal court in Miami, Trump named Clinton, Comey, the Democratic National Committee, Perkins Coie, Fusion GPS, Christopher Steele, and a host of other co-conspirators in a sprawling racketeering scheme.

The complaint detailed how the Clinton campaign and its allies funded the Steele dossier, riddled with lies and uncorroborated claims, to smear Trump, abused FISA warrants to spy on his campaign, and launched the Crossfire Hurricane investigation that dogged his first term.

Trump sought treble damages exceeding $24 million for the legal fees, business losses, and political damage caused by the hoax.

Clinton-appointed U.S. District Judge Donald Middlebrooks dismissed the case in September 2022, calling the lengthy complaint a “two-hundred-page political manifesto.” Middlebrooks declined to recuse himself.

He later imposed sanctions totaling roughly $938,000 on Trump and his then-attorney Alina Habba, accusing them of abusive litigation tactics, knowingly false allegations, and filing in bad faith to advance a political narrative rather than a legitimate claim.

In November 2025, the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld the dismissal and sanctions.

Chief Judge William Pryor, writing for a panel that included Trump appointee Andrew Brasher, declared that “many of Trump’s and Habba’s legal arguments were indeed frivolous.”

The court rejected Trump’s argument that the statute of limitations should have been tolled because he postponed the lawsuit while serving as President to focus on his constitutional duties.

As The Gateway Pundit reported in May 2026, the full 11th Circuit then denied rehearing en banc, leaving the sanctions in place.

In the petition now before the high court, Trump’s lawyers argue that Supreme Court review is needed “to protect the presidency” and to stop “a deeply troubling trend of federal courts using sanctions and disciplinary threats to punish the president and his lawyers for legitimate legal positions that those courts (erroneously) reject.”

They contend the time limit for filing should have been extended because Trump deliberately waited until after his first term, concluding that any private civil lawsuit would consume substantial time and energy while he carried out his responsibilities as chief executive, the Washington Examiner reported.

The Russia collusion narrative has long been exposed as a fabrication. Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of conspiracy or collusion.

Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation documented the FBI’s reliance on the uncorroborated, Clinton-funded Steele dossier and the failure to investigate intelligence indicating the Clinton campaign planned to tie Trump to Russia as a distraction from her private email server scandal.

Declassified documents and Inspector General reports have repeatedly confirmed the political origins of the hoax and the abuses that followed.

Lower courts have protected the Clinton machine and the Deep State operatives who orchestrated the greatest political hoax in American history while punishing the victim of their scheme with nearly $1 million in sanctions.

The Supreme Court now has the opportunity to reverse this lawfare and allow the full truth about the 2016 election interference plot to be litigated.

Canada Targets People With Dementia for Euthanasia

Some are celebrating Canada’s government “indefinitely suspending” legalizing euthanasia for mental illness as a great victory for life. Not me.

Let me explain. Of course, I am gratified that mental illness will not become grounds for being killed in 2027 as was scheduled. But note: In announcing the suspension, the government mooted legislation likely to pass that would have permanently outlawed killing for mental illness. Moreover, “indefinite” can mean years — or a month. So, it’s not a matter of principle.

But here’s the kicker. The government is now promoting euthanasia for people with dementia. From the Global News story:

Justice Minister Sean] Fraser also said the government will “grant access to medical assistance in dying to people who have provided consent at a time when they still have capacity but know that they have been diagnosed with an illness that will take that capacity from them subsequently.”

This is sometimes referred to as “advance directive” or “advance request” in medical parlance. It often involves a competent person making a written request for MAID, with the intention that it would be honoured later, if and when they lose the capacity to make the decision for themselves: for example, in people suffering from worsening Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Once this proposal is law, people will be able to order themselves killed in the future when they reach a particular point of incapacity. And they wouldn’t be able to change their minds once they became incompetent because they would no longer be legally entitled to make their own care decisions. So, even if they were

happy, not suffering, and now wanting to live, they would still be lethally injected.

This is already the law in the Netherlands and Belgium, and it has led to a horrific story. One Dutch woman signed such a document. When she repeatedly refused the lethal jab after becoming incompetent, the doctor drugged her coffee and started the termination. The patient woke up and struggled against the procedure. The doctor instructed the family to hold her down and completed the killing. Of course, a court later found the doctor not guilty of any crime.

Created by Israeli army reservist Ariel Averbuch and right-wing political candidate Roi Danino, the project mimics the genuine documentary’s visual style, including night-time rooftop interviews in Tel Aviv.

At first, the web page falsely presented itself as the official promo platform for the original film. It listed Oscar-winning directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor while distorting the movie’s official synopsis to erase any mention of Palestinian

Once the rival video went live, the site removed the directors’ names. It then displayed a view counter claiming over 42 million views, compared to roughly 30,000 on YouTube. Technical analysis indicated automated bots likely drove those numbers, though Averbuch referred metric queries to his tech team.

Despite these discrepancies, Israeli embassies actively shared the link on social media. Officials stated they wanted to “amplify the message of its creators and expose wider audiences to arguments challenging and dismantling the blood libels and false allegations”, The Guardian writes.

Why it mattered

Southwest Syrian Villages Report Israel Is Encroaching on Their Land With New Fortifications

Quneitra farmers increasingly cut off from their fields

Among the towns and villages impacted by Israel’s incursions into southwest Syria, few have had more problems than Jabata al-Khashab. The village, in northern Quneitra Governorate, is within the UNDOF demilitarized zone and subsequently is de facto occupied by the Israeli military, who seized much of the UNDOF zone starting at the end of 2024.

The village has seen regular incursions by Israeli forces, detaining civilians, establishing intermittent checkpoints, and leveling acres of pine trees from the nearby forests. Yesterday, IDF troops shot a young disabled man from the village and detained him for a few hours, before eventually returning him without explanation.

The more immediate concern for villagers isn’t just the Israeli military coming and going, but the Israeli military’s constructions giving the impression at some point, they’re not going to be going at all. Substantial fortifications have been established along the west edge of the village, including observation posts and trenches.

Jabata al-Khashab isn’t all that far from the occupied Golan Heights, so Israeli construction there wouldn’t be so unusual, but reportedly Israel has been pushing eastward from where that boundary used to be, the UNDOF Alpha line established in 1974, with Israel pushing it in some cases as much as a kilometer deeper into Syrian territory.

In some places, that’s less noticeable, apart from farmers having a harder time circumventing the barriers to access their land. Jabata al-Khashab, however, now finds itself with fortifications going up just along the tree line, and the agriculture workers there report that leaving town and getting to their fields is getting harder and harder.

The biggest challenge is all this is being done without any negotiation on the boundary, and is rather the IDF unilaterally changing where the border between Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and the also Israeli-occupied UNDOF zone actually is, and while Syria and other nations have criticized the move, in practice little is being done to prevent Israel from just declaring that land the new border.

Meanwhile, even further into Quneitra, where seemingly there should be no question which side of the border one is on, IDF troops continue to regularly raid villages, search home and interrogate locals. The IDF has also shelled Swiesha village, in southern Quneitra, and has yet to issue a statement explaining why.

A Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base today (Oct. 10) at 3:39 a.m. EDT (0739 GMT; 12:39 a.m. local time), hauling 21 "data transport" satellites to orbit for the U.S. Space Force's Space Development Agency (SDA).

That was five days later than originally planned. SpaceX tried to launch the mission on Monday (Oct. 5), but the Falcon 9 aborted that attempt in the countdown's final minute, for reasons that the company has not disclosed.

Today's launch helps build out the SDA's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), which SpaceX describes as "a mesh network of optically connected satellites in low Earth orbit [LEO] that enable global military tactical communications and missile warning, indication and tracking capabilities."

The liftoff was the fourth of nine that SpaceX will conduct to help assemble the architecture's Tranche 1 — the "initial warfighting capability tranche," according to the SDA.

Tranche 1 will eventually consist of 154 operational satellites in LEO — 126 data-transport spacecraft and 28 missile-tracking vehicles.

There will also be four missile-defense test satellites, which will sport a "higher fidelity" infrared sensor than their tracking counterparts, SDA officials wrote. (Missile-tracking satellites generally hunt for the heat signatures these weapons produce during flight).

Eighty-four of the 126 data-transport satellites have now launched to date, all of them on Falcon 9s, which lifted off from Vandenberg in September 2025, October 2025, July of this year and today.

And, as its name suggests, Tranche 1 will be just the beginning, if all goes according to plan.

"SDA leverages spiral development to deploy and proliferate new capability into a new generation of the PWSA every two years, called a 'tranche,' to continually increase capability used by the warfighter," SDA officials wrote in a Tranche 1 fact sheet.

Everything seemed to go well on today's launch. The Falcon 9's first stage came back to Vandenberg for a landing a little over seven minutes after liftoff.

It was the sixth mission for this particular booster, which is designated 1103. Its most recent flight was the July Tranche 1 mission for the SDA.

SpaceX ended its webcast shortly after booster touchdown, at the request of the SDA, so we did not get to see satellite deployment. But that's the norm for national security launches.

The satellites were successfully deployed in their target orbit, according to an Oct. 10 announcement by their builder, aerospace giant Northrop Grumman.

The 21 spacecraft "will provide secure, resilient, low-latency communications and data transport in low Earth orbit," helping to connect warfighters with missile-tracking satellites, the company wrote.

Today's mission was the 111th Falcon 9 flight of the year. The vast majority of these — more than 70% — have helped build out SpaceX's Starlink broadband megaconstellation, which currently consists of more than 11,000 satellites.

ERIE, Pa. – Eight people were killed Friday in a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, police said.

The shooter was also dead, and there was no threat to the public, the city said.

Authorities didn't provide more details.

"I have not seen anything like this in my 28-plus years," Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah told a local news station. "I'm not sure that the city of Erie has ever seen the loss of life and the devastation that we just witnessed."

Gov. Josh Shapiro said Saturday he offered his administration's "full support" to Erie Mayor Daria Devlin.

Erie is about 117 miles (188 kilometers) north of Pittsburgh.

Police believe they have gathered sufficient evidence to charge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff for tampering with records from the day of the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led onslaught, Hebrew media outlets reported Friday, though it does not appear he will be indicted.

Tzachi Braverman has been under investigation since 2024 for suspected forgery and fraud over the alleged illegal alteration of records, and has been questioned by police. He is suspected of having altered the stated time at which Netanyahu first received an update on the October 7 Hamas invasion via phone call from the premier’s then-military secretary Avi Gil, allegedly changing it from 6:40 a.m. to 6:29 a.m.

Braverman reportedly has admitted to changing the timestamp, telling police he did so only because he believed it was incorrect.

According to Friday’s reports, police wrapped up the probe over a year ago and handed over the investigatory materials to prosecutors, with the decision to indict Braverman now resting with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.

Channel 13 news reported that prosecutors lean toward closing the case, while the Haaretz daily quoted sources who said the chances that Braverman would be charged appeared low as it would be legally difficult to disprove his claim the change was a mistake rather than intentional.
