United Way funnels millions in donations to Planned Parenthood abortion centers

A conservative watchdog group, 2nd Vote, just exposed the ugly truth about a popular charity organization. United Way affiliates have been dumping donation dollars into the pockets of Planned Parenthood. In fact, a whopping 62 chapters of the charity organization were found to have donated nearly $3 million to the abortion giant. While United Way argues that these chapters only represent a small percentage of the whole organization, the fact remains that money from pro-life donors is still being funneled to Planned Parenthood without their knowledge or consent.

As 2nd Vote Executive Director Robert Kuykendall explains, “According to Planned Parenthood, an abortion can cost up to $950. This means United Way dollars essentially paid for the equivalent of at least 2,901 Planned Parenthood abortions over the course of a single year.”

United Way says funding abortion is no big deal

In response to being outed for funneling donations to Planned Parenthood, United Way has chosen to downplay the seriousness of their actions — but the pro-transparency group isn’t letting them off the hook so easily. 2nd Vote, an organization dedicated to empowering conservatives and pro-lifers with transparency, highlights the fact that people “vote” with their dollars — and many do not want to vote for abortion.

Every year, 2nd Vote takes an extensive look at United Way affiliates that help fund the world’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood,” Kuykendall told The Daily Wire. “Our research is designed to give conservatives and pro-life activists a resource to make sure their charitable donations won’t be used to support Planned Parenthood’s abortion business.”

Despite the obvious reasons why pro-life proponents would be against such transactions, United Way has argued that because it’s a “small” percentage of their total donation dollars, conservatives should simply look the other way.

In a statement, United Way reportedly declared:

Out of 1,129 local United Ways in the United States, only a small number (less than 3 percent) provide direct support to Planned Parenthood. The amount of financial support represents less than one tenth of one percent of total United Way revenue.

2nd Vote reports that their data shows the total amount donated to Planned Parenthood is actually closer to five percent. The statement from the charity continued to mislead readers about where their donation dollars go:

Several local United Way partners provide professional family and individual counseling services. Local United Way-funded pregnancy related programs focus on community health maintenance (e.g. communicable disease prevention; medical care service; family planning; health education; public awareness services; and family preservation) and strengthening services like counseling and family life education.

It’s not as though United Way gets to specifically select what their donated dollars do for Planned Parenthood; as 2nd Vote argues, money is freely exchangeable — and any dollar donated to Planned Parenthood ultimately funds abortion, in one way or another.

2nd Vote does note, however, that the donations to Planned Parenthood this past year were lower than years past — a sign of success, according to the watchdog group.

UK seeks exploitation of Africa resources through trade deals: Expert

The United Kingdom’s new move to sign trade deals with African countries was in line with London’s old policy to exploit and "rip off" the continent's resources, a political analyst says.

“All this propaganda you hear about the benefits of foreign investment is actually most of the time it’s an excuse by which local resources are exploited and ripped off,” said Shakespeare.

“Foreign investment is only a good thing if it brings in technology but it’s usually for benefit of a narrow group and for the exploitation of resources.”

However, he said UK’s trade deals with African countries will not succeed in creating new economic opportunities in the continent as they are no different than the current trade mechanism between the European Union and African countries.

While in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday, May said that her government would seek new trade partners in Africa as part of efforts to mitigate consequences of Britain’s withdrawal from the EU.

“I want to create a new partnership between the UK and our friends in Africa built around shared prosperity and shared security,” May said in her speech to South African business leaders.

May’s offer of huge investments in Africa come against the backdrop of accusations that British companies have been plundering energy and mineral resources in the continent.

A report in late 2016 suggested that London had always used its power and influence to ensure that British mining companies have access to Africa’s raw materials. It said 101 companies listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) had controlled resources worth in excess of $1 trillion in Africa through involvement in mining activities.

California police shot and killed former “ER” actress Vanessa Marquez when they visited for a welfare check and she pulled a “BB-type” gun on them, according to a new report.

Cops were called to Marquez’s South Pasadena home around 2 p.m. Thursday after a landlord reported that the woman was in some kind of trouble, Lt. Joe Mendoza of the LA Sheriff’s homicide bureau said at a press conference, The South Pasadenan reported.

“At the time [of the shooting], there was an LA County mental health clinician here with the officers,” Mendoza said. “They began to communicate with her; she became very uncooperative and during that contact, she armed herself with a handgun, she pointed it at the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Cops later recovered a BB gun that “resembled a semi-automatic handgun.”

Mendoza said the woman, who sources identified as Marquez, “was undergoing some medical problems, some seizures, [and] it appeared that the female was gravely disabled,” according to the report.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident, as is protocol for all police-involved shootings, according to the report.

Police had been called to Marquez’s home in the past for help, Mendoza told the outlet.

Marquez played Nurse Wendy Goldman on the popular NBC drama “ER” from 1994 to 1997. She also played the role of Ana Delgado in the 1988 film “Stand and Deliver,” and appeared in the flicks “Night Children” and “Blood In, Blood Out,” among others.

In October, Marquez accused former “ER” co-star George Clooney of helping to blacklist her from the show in 1995 because she complained about being sexually and racially harassed on set.

“Clooney helped blacklist me when I spoke up abt harassment on ER. Women who dont play the game lose career…I did,” she tweeted at the time.

In a statement, Clooney denied the claims.

“I had no idea Vanessa was blacklisted. I take her at her word,” the actor said at the time. “I was not a writer or a producer or a director on that show. I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career, then she was lied to. A media leak of off-record comments by President Trump has roiled the high-wire negotiations with Canada over the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Trump has been trying to negotiate a new NAFTA with both trading partners. He announced Monday that he has secured a tentative deal with Mexico and said “we’ll see” if Canada can be part of the new agreement. The administration had set a deadline of Friday for a deal with Canada.

But The Toronto Star reports that it obtained comments from an off-the-record portion of an Oval Office interview between Trump and Bloomberg News. In those remarks, Trump said he isn’t making compromises with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government, but isn’t going to say so publicly because “it’s going to be so insulting they’re not going to be able to make a deal.”

“Here’s the problem. If I say no, the answer’s no. If I say no, then you’re going to put that, and it’s going to be so insulting they’re not going to be able to make a deal … I can’t kill these people,” he said of Trudeau’s government.

In another remark he did not want published, Trump said the deal would be “totally on our terms” and reportedly suggested he had tried to spook the Canadians with the threat of auto tariffs.

Suspects in Assassination of DPR Head Zakharchenko Arrested - Adviser

Earlier, the government of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) confirmed reports about the death of DPR President Alexander Zakharchenko in a bomb explosion in a cafe near his residence in Donetsk on Friday.

Report: Activists funded attorneys working in state AG offices to advance climate litigation

Outside sources funded attorneys in numerous attorney general offices across the country in an effort to advance politically inspired climate and environmental litigation, a new report claims.

What is this report?

The report, titled, “Law Enforcement for Rent,” comes from the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C.

In the report, researcher and author Chris Horner alleges that former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg started the initiative with a specialized law unit within the New York University School of Law. Under the program, attorneys were reportedly groomed to be dispatched nationally to work on climate issues for state attorneys general.

The website for the NYU School of Law State Energy & Environmental Impact Center, says the program is intended as nonpartisan support for “state attorneys general in defending and promoting clean energy, climate and environmental laws and policies.”

Its mission is described as: “Providing direct legal assistance to interested attorneys general on specific administrative, judicial or legislative matters involving clean energy, climate change and environmental interests of regional and national significance.”

Why is this a concern?

Horner claims a network of donors used the law school and other various pass-through entities, including 501(c)(3) organizations, to pay the attorneys’ salaries. The report does not include a list of the donors.

Horner says using outside sources to fund the attorneys is a concern because they are working for states while not being paid by them.

“The use of this approach by AGs carries legal, ethical, and constitutional implications, as well as for the integrity of law enforcement and the constitutional policy process,” Horner wrote. “The public-private partnership of law enforcement for hire revealed in this report, in which the partnership uses public office to expend resources not appropriated or approved by their legislatures, raises significant constitutional and other legal issues — as well as ethics concerns — and should be the subject of prompt and serious legislative oversight.”

According to Horner, the practice may be illegal in some states, including New York and Oregon, and raises serious ethical questions elsewhere.

“This approach represents an elaborate, deliberate plan to politicize state law enforcement offices in the service of an ideological, left-wing climate policy agenda that has been frustrated by the democratic process,” the report says. “Under this scheme and deviating from standard government contracting procedures, private parties with an express policy advocacy agenda can pay to place activist investigators and lawyers in state AG offices to pursue that agenda.”

What else?

The 56-page report supports its claims through emails and documents reportedly obtained through dozens of open records requests that were made over a two-and-a-half year period.

In one of the emails sent to state OAG leaders, the university explained its program as way to “enhance resources” and “champion your citizens’ interests in clean energy, climate change and environmental matters.”

The email appears on page 3 of the 218-page collection of supporting documents. Litigation was required to obtain many of the records, according to the report.

Report: De Blasio Blames Media, Michael Bloomberg For His Administration Understating Number Of Kids With Lead Poisoning

On Friday, according to Yoav Gonen, the City Hall Bureau Chief of the New York Post, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio blamed the media and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg for de Blasio’s administration consistently understating the number of children living in New York public housing who tested positive for lead poisoning.

The de Blasio administration finally admitted the truth on Thursday, acknowledging that 1,160 children living in public housing had tested positive for lead poisoning since 2012. Last year, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) was accused of failing to perform required lead inspections since 2013 and lying to the federal government about the issue.

On June 11, Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said his team had filed a civil complaint and proposed a settlement agreement to the NYCHA. At that time, the city had only acknowledged 19 children were exposed to deteriorating lead paint in their NYCHA apartments between 2010 and 2016.

On June 30, de Blasio’s office admitted that up to 820 children had tested positive for elevated levels of lead and that health officials had failed to follow up and inspect their housing. The city recorded 229 kids under 6 who had lead levels between 5 and 10 micrograms in 2012 followed by 184 kids in 2013, 181 in 2014, 112 in 2015, and 114 in 2016.

On July 1, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer stated he would investigate the Mayor’s Office, NYCHA, and the city Departments of Health and of Housing Preservation and Development, commenting, “That they have continued to put children in jeopardy is an outrage … We must stop these agencies from making one mistake after another.” The New York Post reported, “The comptroller also blasted City Hall for only coming clean about the extent of the problem after months of controversy and a $1 billion-plus settlement with the feds over the dangerous and decrepit living conditions provided by NYCHA.”

In 2017, de Blasio asserted, “Thank God there has not been harm done to any child because of the mistakes that were made.”

As I understand it, a grand jury just needs to have a majority vote on whether they believe the person likely committed the crime or not. It's not a trial. They only have to prove probable cause, and nobody has to be interviewed for that if the documents speak for themselves (which they do).

Besides, if these grand juries are putting out sealed indictments, would there be a list of those they interviewed? I mean, seems counterproductive to keep the indictment sealed and let everyone know who the witnesses are. Isn't one of the reasons they seal indictments to protect witnesses?
