Manafort forfeits luxury homes (and more) under plea deal

Former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort pleaded guilty Friday to two federal crimes as part of a plea deal in which he agreed to cooperate with the special counsel’s Russia probe.

Manafort, a high-rolling political consultant brought low, also agreed to forfeit big bank accounts, life insurance and more as part of his plea deal on Friday with special counsel Robert Mueller.

THE HAMPTONS ESTATE

Manafort agreed to surrender his 5,564-square-foot estate in the Hamptons community of Water Mill, a summer playground of the rich and famous on New York’s Long Island. The property valued at more than $7 million features 10 bedrooms and six bathrooms, according to online listings. It also features an in-ground swimming pool and tennis and basketball courts.

THE BROOKLYN BROWNSTONE

Manafort will have to give up a brownstone, valued at more than $4 million, which he owns in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the borough.

MANHATTAN APARTMENTS

He will have to forfeit a fourth-floor apartment in a building in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, an apartment in Chinatown and a condominium he owns in Trump Tower. An earlier court filing had mentioned surrendering a home in Virginia, but the signed cooperation agreement swapped that address with the Trump Tower condominium.

BANK ACCOUNTS AND LIFE INSURANCE POLICY:

Manafort will have to give up the money from three of his bank accounts — two at the Federal Savings Bank and one from Capital One — as well as a life insurance policy.

More than 100 carriers, including the largest carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile), will participate in the emergency alert test, FEMA said.

FEMA will also run a test of its Emergency Alert System (EAS) for radio and television broadcasters the same day, beginning two minutes after the WEA test.

In its news release, FEMA said it could postpone the national test to October 3 if the agency is dealing with a major weather event, but it has not yet made that determination. FEMA is currently handling the response to Hurricane Florence which hit the Carolinas on Friday, causing heavy winds and rainfall in the region.

FEMA officials told CNN on Saturday morning that they are still planning to conduct the test this week.

The agency is required by law to conduct a nationwide test of its public alert systems no less than once every three years.

FEMA is also tasked with ensuring that the President can alert the public under all conditions in cases of national emergencies, including natural disasters and terrorist threats.

Central bankers are now aggressively playing the stock market. To say they are buying up the planet may be an exaggeration, but they could. They can create money at will, and they have declared their “independence” from government. They have become rogue players in a game of their own.

Excluding institutions such as Blackrock and Vanguard, which are composed of multiple investors, the largest single players in global equity markets are now thought to be central banks themselves. An estimated 30 to 40 central banks are invested in the stock market, either directly or through their investment vehicles (sovereign wealth funds). According to David Haggith on Zero Hedge:

Central banks buying stocks are effectively nationalizing US corporations just to maintain the illusion that their “recovery” plan is working . . . . At first, their novel entry into the stock market was only intended to rescue imperiled corporations, such as General Motors during the first plunge into the Great Recession, but recently their efforts have shifted to propping up the entire stock market via major purchases of the most healthy companies on the market.

It parks its reserves instead in bonds and other government-backed securities. Hermes decide to make a pipe of reeds his luring weapon of choice and played music close enough to draw Argus' attention. Argus found the music most pleasing and invited Hermes to sit beside him to play music for him.

The music however did not cause repose as Hermes hoped. Soon, Hermes stopped playing and began to talk and talk monotonously.
