Saudi Arabia has banned Palestinians and Israeli Muslims from entering the country with temporary passports, ending their chance to make the pilgrimage to Islam’s holiest site, Mecca.

Practicing Muslims are supposed to try to get to Mecca once in their lives, if possible, for the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages. Given that Israel and Saudi Arabia don’t officially have diplomatic relations, Palestinians in Israel have to apply for temporary Jordanian passports to go to Mecca.

However, in the latest of a series of moves limiting Palestinians’ access to the Kingdom, these temporary passports will no longer be accepted.

Palestinian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon, as well as those living in Israel-occupied East Jerusalem, were recently banned from getting visas. The increased travel restrictions now affect almost 3 million Palestinians.

Large Group of Central American Migrants Apprehended 60 Miles into Texas

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended a large group of mostly Central American migrants marching through a ranch located about 60 miles north of the Texas-Mexico border. The group included an unaccompanied minor.

Agents assigned to the Hebbronville Border Patrol Station came upon a suspicious vehicle in an area known for human smuggling. As the agents approached the vehicle, the driver jumped out and fled into the brush. Agents said that no one else was inside the vehicle, according to Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials.

Agents could not locate the driver but managed to find a presumed drop-off location for what appeared to be a group of migrants attempting to circumvent the immigration checkpoint by walking through a ranch. After picking up the trail, the agents tracked the group until they eventually caught up with them.

The agents apprehended 17 people they determined to be illegally present in the U.S., officials said. The migrants came to the U.S. from El Salvador (2), Guatemala (13), and Mexico (2). The group reportedly included one unaccompanied minor.

The agents arrested the group of migrants and transported them to the station for processing. Officials seized the abandoned vehicle.

Human smugglers frequently abandon migrants in the brush under circumstances that often lead to injury or death. In July, Border Patrol agents rescued a woman who had been left to die. Hebbronville Station agents received a call that a woman had become lost on a ranch, Breitbart News reported. Quickly responding, the agents managed to find the woman and provide her with medical assistance.

A few days earlier, Hebbronville agents received another call from a woman who said she and her male companion were lost and the man desperately needed medical attention. The agents responded with the assistance of a National Guard helicopter aircrew and quickly located the couple. Unfortunately, the man had become unresponsive and eventually died from symptoms of heat and dehydration.

So far this year, 344 migrants died during or shortly after illegal border crossings. Of those, 207 died in Texas alone.

A federal judge blocked the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline Thursday, ruling that the Trump administration hadn’t justified changing President Obama’s earlier rulings. According to a report in The Hill, Judge Morris said the State Department didn’t properly take into account the effects of global warming, the risk of oil spills and worldwide oil prices. “The major spills that occurred between 2014 and 2017 qualify as significant. Judge Morris also said State didn’t properly justify approving the pipeline in 2017 under Mr. Trump after rejecting it in 2015 under Mr. Obama. The Obama-appointed judge specifically called out State’s disregarding the climate change arguments against the pipeline it had made under Mr. Obama. “The department’s 2017 conclusory analysis that climate-related impacts from Keystone subsequently would prove inconsequential and its corresponding reliance on this conclusion as a centerpiece of its policy change required the department to provide a ‘reasoned explanation,’” Judge Morris said. “The department instead simply discarded prior factual findings related to climate change to support its course reversal.”

Judge Morris is the latest jurist to block Mr. Trump’s initiatives under administrative-law rule, claiming that his officials have cut corners in administrative processes to make political decisions. His policies on immigration and travel have been hit particularly hard by this increasingly common tactic by liberal litigators. U.S., Taliban to Join Russia-Hosted Afghan Peace Talks

The United States and the Taliban, in a move described as unprecedented, reportedly agreed to participate in the second round of negotiations to end the more than 17-year-old war in Afghanistan on Friday.

The Taliban said the talks will be aimed “on finding a peaceful solution to the Afghan quandary and ending American occupation.”

Last year, the U.S. and the Taliban reportedly refused to attend the first meeting Moscow hosted.

Russia’s foreign ministry billed Friday’s Afghan peace talks event in Moscow as the first direct high-level talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reports.

Citing anonymous Russian diplomats, AA notes, “The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. [Ashraf] Ghani, decided to send a delegation of the country’s High Peace Council to the meeting. For the first time, a delegation from the Taliban’s Political Office in Doha will participate in an international meeting of this level.”

An unnamed source told the National that Kabul snubbed the event, choosing instead to send the members from the country’s independent High Peace Council (HPC), who “will be attending the talks in their own capacity.”

Although the United States had initially declined to attend, reportedly citing “the absence of significant results of the first meeting in Moscow regarding the Afghan peace process,” Voice of America (VOA) quotes the Trump administration as saying they will travel to Moscow for the conference.

“The United States and the Taliban are both set to attend for the first time a multilateral conference Russia will host Friday in Moscow to discuss how to achieve peace and national reconciliation in Afghanistan,” VOA reports.

On Wednesday, an unnamed spokesperson for the U.S. State Department reportedly confirmed that, in coordination with Kabul, the U.S. embassy in Moscow “will send a representative to the working level to observe the discussions.”

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry, revealed on the eve of Friday’s conference that delegates from 12 countries, including the United States, will attend the second “Moscow format consultations.”

Russia hopes to facilitate a “conducive atmosphere for bilateral or multilateral dialogue formats” to promote a negotiated solution to the Afghan problem as soon as possible,” she stressed.

University of Sussex Professor Emeritus: ‘Israelis Blew Up Twin Towers’

TEL AVIV – A professor who claimed “Israelis blew up Twin Towers” has prompted a Jewish group to demand the University of Sussex in England strip him of his emeritus status.

Kees van der Pijl, who retired from his post as head of the university’s Department of International Relations in 2012, tweeted on Saturday, “Not Saudis, Israelis blew up Twin Towers with help from Zionists in U.S. govt.”

The professor, who is originally from the Netherlands, linked to an article titled “9-11/ Israel did it” from Wikispooks, a website that has been debunked as a non-credible source. The site claims “Zionist Jews” control the U.S. media and government. Businessman Larry Silverstein is described as a “greedy Jew” in the anti-Semitic screed.

The Sussex Jewish Representative Council (SJRC) condemned van der Pijl on Tuesday for disseminating “conspiracy theories.”

“We ask that [Sussex University] investigate immediately & consider removing his ‘emeritus’ status,” the group continued. “This type of hate-mongering has no place in society, least of all in academia.”

Rather than backtrack as a result of the outrage, van der Pijl tweeted, “After my remark on Zionist responsibility for 9/11, the ‘Israel lobby’ is no longer an empty term for me.”

“Yet we have to put an end to the murderous ‘War on Terror’ ((c) Netanyahu 1986) that now has Iran in its sights,” he wrote.

He also slammed a Daily Mail article as “bad journalism” for reporting his original tweet.

Pijl has in the past claimed that the suggestion that there is anti-Semitism in the UK’s Labour Party was invented by Israel. He also said an Assad regime chemical weapons attack in Syria was a “false flag” staged by the U.S. and NATO.
