He implied that if you are accused of a crime before court, you can use all(!) evidence you have before court to defend yourself.

The data were leaked over the past weeks via a Twitter account called “G0d” that identifies itself as based in Hamburg and describes itself using the words “security researching,” “artist” and “satire & irony.”

 

It looks like the hackers got the passwords to Facebook accounts and Twitter profiles and worked their way up from there, said Simon Hegelich, a political scientist at Munich’s Technical University who has studied the manipulation of social networks.

 

“It’s a very elaborately done social engineering attack,” he said Friday by phone. “It’s a lot of data that’s been dumped.”

 

The German government is taking the attack “very seriously,” spokeswoman Martina Fietz said at a briefing with reporters on Friday.

 

“This hack is different from breaching the Bundestag networks – which required a much higher level of sophistication,” Hegelich said. “But they’re no kids either. It’s people that know about IT security.”

A 20-year-old Afghan migrant will probably think twice before sexually assaulting a woman next time. The man’s nose was broken after he inappropriately touched a young woman, Austrian newspaper Heute reports.

 

The incident happened at 1:30 am at a square in front of Vienna’s townhall, Austrian police say. The Afghan touched several women’s buttocks during NYE, but met the wrong victim when he did the same by a 21-year-old Swiss woman.

The old pictures, paintings and books showing Germans who were coming to America here looked just like Norman Rockwell paintings of America itself. Attaching the people’s uprising to foreign enemies will put one in a vulnerable position, since it’s just untrue, and force him to talk an incomprehensible soup of words.

Its onset of action is slow, its peak effect may not occur until 3 hours, and its duration of effect is prolonged (>10 hours). Hackers Release Personal Data On Hundreds Of German Politicians

 

The personal data of hundreds of German politicians including Chancellor Angela Merkel have been released in the largest data dump of its kind in the country, according to the Bloomberg.

 

The leaked information includes personal chat transcripts, mobile phone numbers, email addresses and photo IDs, according to a review of the records. The records have been released over the past several weeks beginning right before Christmas via a Twitter account named "G0d," which has been around since mid-2017 and identifies as a Hamburg-based "artist" involved in "security researching" and "satire & irony."

 

Notably, Germany's right-wing party, AfD, was unaffected by the hack.

 

It looks like the hackers got the passwords to Facebook accounts and Twitter profiles and worked their way up from there, said Simon Hegelich, a political scientist at Munich’s Technical University who has studied the manipulation of social networks.

 

“It’s a very elaborately done social engineering attack,” he said Friday by phone. “It’s a lot of data that’s been dumped.”

 

The German government is taking the attack “very seriously,” spokeswoman Martina Fietz said a briefing with reporters on Friday. -Bloomberg

 

"I can confirm that there has been an incident," said a Linke party spokesman, whose members were among those targeted. That said, no politically sensitive documents have been released as part of the breach, and some of the information appeared to be several years old.

 

Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security, known as BSI, is heading the investigation into the data dump at its cyber defense center. So far the agency has no indication that government networks have been affected, the BSI said on Twitter. Germany’s domestic intelligence agency BfV is reviewing the data and can’t yet comment because of the volume, a spokeswoman said. -Bloomberg

 

"The perpetrators want to erode trust in our democracy and in our institutions," said German Justice Minister Katarina Barley to news agency DPA. "Criminals and their backers must not be allowed to dictate debate in our nation."

 

It is unknown if the hack is connected to a 2015 incident in which the Bundestag parliament network was breached and 16 gigabytes of data was stolen. According to security firm Trend Micro, the Bundestag attack and others have been linked to the hacking group Pawn Storm.

 

"This hack is different from breaching the Bundestag networks – which required a much higher level of sophistication," said Munich Technical University political scientist Simon Heglich. "But they’re no kids either. It’s people that know about IT security."

Hacker group releases '9/11 Papers', says future leaks will 'burn down' US deep state

 

The Dark Overlord hacker group has released decryption keys for 650 documents it says are related to 9/11. Unless a ransom is paid, it threatened with more leaks that will have devastating consequences for the US ‘deep state’.

 

The document dump is just a fraction of the 18,000 secret documents related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks believed to have been stolen from insurers, law firms, and government agencies.

 

The Dark Overlord initially threatened to release the 10GB of data unless the hacked firms paid an unspecified bitcoin ransom. However, on Wednesday, the group announced a "tiered compensation plan" in which the public could make bitcoin payments to unlock the troves of documents.

 

A day later, the Dark Overlord said that it had received more than $12,000 in bitcoin – enough to unlock "layer 1" and several "checkpoints," comprised of 650 documents in total.

 

There are four more layers that remain encrypted and, according to the group, "each layer contains more secrets, more damaging materials… and generally just more truth."

 

The hackers are asking for $2 million in bitcoin for the public release of its "megaleak," which it has dubbed "the 9/11 Papers."

 

The group has also offered to sell the documents to terrorist groups, foreign governments, and media outlets. When RT approached the hackers for comment, they proposed providing the channel exclusive access to the potentially explosive papers – for a price, of course.

 

“They were willing to sell those documents to me. So it’s all about money for them,” RT America correspondent Michelle Greenstein said.

 

By design, the "layer 1" documents – if authentic – do not appear to contain any explosive revelations. The publications focus mostly on testimonies from airport security and details concerning insurance pay-outs to parties affected by the 9/11 attacks. However, the data dump suggests that the group is not bluffing.

I've done my own studies. Liberals will admit that they make their decisions on EMOTIONS. And they also agree that Conservatives make their decisions on FACTS. Liberals also say that facts don't matter.

 

They like the way Obama spoke. They don't like the way Trump speaks. It doesn't matter to them what they DID or DIDN'T DO.

 

They are zombies. They are repeaters. They don't deserve to live in the US.

In a little-noticed brief filed last summer, lawyers for the House of Representatives claimed that an SEC investigation of congressional insider trading should be blocked on principle, because lawmakers and their staff are constitutionally protected from such inquiries given the nature of their work.

 

The legal team led by Kerry W. Kircher, who was appointed House General Counsel by Speaker John Boehner in 2011, claimed that the insider trading probe violated the separation of powers between the legislative and executive branch.

 

In 2012, members of Congress patted themselves on the back for passing the STOCK Act, a bill meant to curb insider trading for lawmakers and their staff. “We all know that Washington is broken and today members of both parties took a big step forward to fix it,” said Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio, upon passage of the law.

 

But as the Securities and Exchange Commission made news with the first major investigation of political insider trading, Congress moved to block the inquiry.

 

The SEC investigation focused on how Brian Sutter, then a staffer for the House Ways and Means Committee, allegedly passed along information about an upcoming Medicare decision to a lobbyist, who then shared the tip with other firms. Leading hedge funds used the insider tip to trade on health insurance stocks that were affected by the soon-to-be announced Medicare decision.

 

Calling the SEC’s inquiry a “remarkable fishing expedition for congressional records,” Kircher and his team claimed that the SEC had no business issuing a subpoena to Sutter. “Communications with lobbyists, of course, are a normal and routine part of Committee information-gathering,” the brief continued, arguing that there “is no room for the SEC to inquire into the Committee’s or Mr. Sutter’s purpose or motives.”

 

Wall Street investors routinely hire specialized “political intelligence” lobbyists in Washington to get insider knowledge of major government decisions so that they may make trades using the information. But little is known about the mechanics of political intelligence lobbying, which falls outside the scope of traditional lobbying law, and therefore does not show up in mandatory lobbying disclosure reports.

 

There are occasional hints, though.

 

Personal finance forms reveal that from July of 2011 through May of 2013, David Berteau served as a consultant to Height Analytics, the political intelligence firm at the center of the SEC’s current probe. At the time of his work for Height Analytics, Berteau simultaneously worked as a vice president at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a prominent think tank in Washington. Berteau is now the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness.

 

Congressional travel forms show that on December 12, 2012, Emily Porter, at the time an employee of Boehner’s office, traveled to New York on a sponsored trip to meet with JNK Securities for a group lunch with business clients. According to the Wall Street Journal, JNK “has emerged as one of the most aggressive” political intelligence firms on Capitol Hill.

 

This is hardly the first time Congress has moved to undermine its own ethics rules. In 2011, congressional Republicans quickly abandoned their promise to post the text of bills online “for at least three days” before voting on them.
