Iran investigation says Ukrainian jet was on fire before crash

DUBAI (Reuters) - A Ukrainian airliner was on fire immediately before it crashed southwest of Tehran, killing all 176 on board, according to an initial report by Iranian investigators.

The Ukrainian International Airlines Boeing 737-800, flying to Kiev and carrying mostly Iranians and Iranian-Canadians, crashed shortly after taking off on Wednesday from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini airport.

The report, by Iran’s civil aviation organization, cited witnesses on the ground and in a passing aircraft flying at high altitude as saying the jet was on fire while still aloft.

The three-year-old Boeing jet, which had its last scheduled maintenance on Jan. 6, encountered a technical problem shortly after take-off and started to head toward a nearby airport before it crashed, the report said.

The technical problem was not specified in the report. However, a Canadian security source told Reuters there was evidence one of the jet’s engines overheated.

The crash occurred hours after Iran launched missile attacks on U.S.-led forces in Iraq, leading some to speculate that the plane may have been hit.

It's only superficially similar.

At the time They were leading guys Ben Fulford around with this sort of disinformation. It was ostensibly to enthrall receptive minds into following people like these, creating anticipation fatigue, and dooming them to disappointment. The ultimate effect was to wreck the reputations of those seeking to expose the truth about how the world was really run and sow doubt among the viewers about the validity of the theory. More people survive lung cancer with better surgery, drugs

American Cancer Society releases its annual report on disease

The cancer death rate in the U.S. fell by the most on record as advances in treatments for lung tumors like video-assisted surgery helped prolong the lives of patients.

The mortality rate from cancer has been gradually declining for 26 years, thanks in large part to fewer people smoking cigarettes. But from 2016 to 2017, the most recent period available, it dropped by 2.2%, the most ever in a single year, according to a report released Wednesday by the American Cancer Society. That compares with an average 1.5% yearly decline over the decade.

The drop translates to roughly 2.9 million fewer cancer deaths than would have occurred had mortality rates remained at their peak. For lung cancer specifically, the mortality rate declined 4.3% annually from 2013 to 2017.

“It is really lung cancer that is driving this,” said Rebecca Siegel, scientific director of surveillance research at the American Cancer Society, and lead author on the new study. “We found increases in survival for lung cancer at every stage in diagnosis.”

She attributed the lower deaths to improvements in treatments, including video-assisted surgery that enables more patients with early lung tumors to become eligible for operations; more precise radiation treatment; and better scanning technology that allows doctors to better assess the stage of tumor, so the patient gets the best treatment right away. At later stages of illness, new, targeted drugs that aim at specific disease-causing genes are helping patients whose tumors have those genetic flaws.

Overall, lung cancer mortality rates have dropped by 51% for men since their peak in 1990, and by 26% for women since their peak in 2002.

Lung cancer still kills far more people than any other tumor. It will cause more than 135,000 deaths this year, roughly 22% of all cancer fatalities, the American Cancer Society estimates.

There’s the potential for more progress in future reports. That’s because the latest death-rate statistics go only through 2017, and likely don’t include the potential impact in lung cancer mortality from immune-therapy drugs such as Keytruda from Merck & Co. and Opdivo from Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. Those type of drugs have led to rapid improvements in melanoma death rates, but they became widely used in lung cancer only in the past few years.

The report, based on U.S. government data, isn’t all good news. Prostate cancer death rates have leveled off recently after a period of decline. That may be because many doctors pulled back on using the controversial prostate-specific antigen test, or PSA, which can spot the disease but can lead to over-treatment of men who may never have died from their tumors, Siegel said.

“Though it was definitely causing harm, it was also contributing to declines in mortality,” Siegel said. What’s needed now is better screening tests to detect only the prostate cancers that will go on to cause harm.

Population mortality rates are considered one of the most reliable ways of measuring progress in cancer treatment and prevention. By contrast, cancer survival rates can sometimes be influenced by improvements in diagnosing tiny, early stage tumors that wouldn’t necessarily be deadly.

Disarmament and monopoly control of self defense is the seventh (7) branch of tyranny forms of government, so for good measure, we ought to demand a second amendment (2A) in there for the people of all three nations. The last thing we need is a trade agreement that builds control over any one of those above seven aspects of our civilization , if we hope to be free.

It would be fine if the people of the 3 nations had the right to VOTE for those committee controllers, like we do for our own reps at home, but, ….committee by appointment, especially by appointment by the UN, or … "other than citizens", would be the formation of a communist system of unrepresentative tyranny by unelected secret committee.

This needs looking into. It might be a good thing, but, it needs looking into.

I use several different flight apps to compare data (they should ALL match). I found an anomaly which tells me something isn’t right here. Take a look: Programmed flight log shows tail # change as well as acft type code.

The inbound acft from Kiev is the same one (UR-PSR) which arrived the day prior.

Now, this is where it gets curious. Flightradar24 who broke the story, shows it downed and flightaware does as well; but flightstats shows the acft still in flight.

Let’s look closer at the flightstats data: One, we have this strange double line. Mind you, grey line is planned path, green line is actual…

Next anomaly: We have an altitude, speed and direction, yet still “unknown”.

So: We see pics of a debris field on the ground, body bags, etc. We have two apps with ended data and a nighttime shot of a fireball cruising past before impact. Seems legit right?

Look closely at the satellite image compared to the ground media accounts? We have seen what they are capable of doing in Kenya with staging.. and they def seem to have not made the same mistake with the tracker apps as before; but the data should all match and it doesn’t.

now look at what we have here - just like the Ethiopia max 737. Where is the acft? We have a SEA of bodies and body bags, but no survivors, and yet no aircraft? What do you think holds together better, aircraft metal or flesh?

For 6 years I worked in a forming shop that produced aluminum and titanium aircraft parts for Boeing. There's really no truth whatsoever to your statement, under any circumstances. Aluminum is ductile, even at fairly cold temperatures. It does have a fairly low melting point, and a massive kerosene fire will do a number on all the thin pieces, but all the superstructure, including wing and fuselage rib pieces, should be intact in fairly large segments.

It's designed to fly, yes, and weight reduction engineering is applied to every piece to get the most strength out of the least mass, but wreck sites like these are fairy tales. The pentagon crash site, and the one out in Pennsylvania–and this one. You simply aren't seeing the wreckage of a real aircraft in any of these incidents. As the other poster implied, a wreck hot and fast enough to destroy the entire fuselage is not going to leave behind remotely intact corpses. The fuselage ribs alone are inches thick, and under no aircraft crash circumstances does aluminum shatter like peanut brittle into unrecognizable particles while leaving the human bodies inside it whole.

More swarms of the locusts have also invaded neighbouring Garbatulla and Merti areas in Isiolo County.

Ndumuru Chief Romano Muchiri said the locusts, which are in nymph (wingless) stage, have been spotted in several groups feeding on shrubs.

Igembe North Deputy County Commissioner Charles Langat said government officials were monitoring the situation, adding that there was no cause for alarm.

“The locusts have been spotted but their population is not big. They are currently feeding on euphobia trees. We will ensure that they are contained before they pose a threat to vegetation in the area,” Mr Langat said.

In Isiolo, County Commissioner Narman Shambi said the swarms of locusts had covered up to 3,000 square kilometres of land in Garbatulla and Merti.

According to Meru County Agriculture executive Carol Mutiga, the crop protection department of the Ministry of Agriculture had promised to dispatch aircraft to carry out aerial spraying.

“The situation is not very bad but the crop protection desk will be giving priority to Meru because their spread will be disastrous. My officers are monitoring the situation and the regional locust control body is helping,” Ms Mutiga said.

The invasion of locusts comes five days after Meru Jubilee Party chairman Joseph Muturia warned that the pests would soon reach the county from Wajir if not contained on time.

Mr Muturia called on the government to pump in more resources into fighting the locusts that have ravaged the north-eastern region to avert famine.

Mr Muturia, who says he witnessed a locust invasion in Meru in 1948, accused the government of knee-jerk reactions to disasters.

“Based on my experience, if these locusts spread to Meru and other areas where people depend on food and cash crops, it will be a major disaster. It seems those in government have never experienced locust invasions and their impact. The 1948 invasion led to a bad famine,” Mr Muturia said.

I speculate the ran may have had a situation similar to North Korea in that the guy that looked to be in charge wasn't really the guy in charge. And now that the guy-behind-the-guy has been taken out, the public face is truly in charge.

I think Komeini is quickly removing the structure that previously controlled him before it regains that control. I'm optimistic for the future. But I also think they will be like NK in that their freedom to control their own destiny includes the freedom to make the wrong decisions. Iran, free as they may be now, probably wont be any quicker to give up their nuke program than NK is.

But, I really don't know much about Iran. I'm just stating my perceptions about this news.

Valerie Jarrett was appointed to the BOD of Innocence Project on Dec. 11, 2019.

The Innocence Project was formed to help people who have been wrongly convicted of a crime (mostly murder). Yah, good intentions, but can be used for bad things as well as I discuss later.

Another board member of the InnocenceProject is Janet Reno - yah, the same Janet Reno under whose direction, 83 truly innocent people were murdered by Federal Agents at Waco and Ruby Ridge. I bet she's really concerned about innocent people wrongly convicted.

The Board Chair is Jack Taylor - his father Brian is part owner of Pine River Capital LLP, and Jack is the Global Head of Commercial Real Estate. The company is kinda sketchy, the ownership of the Limited Partnership hides behind a shell company "Corporation Services Company" as registrant in NY, CAL, NJ, MN, FL, and the UK. Pine River has a subsidiary, Future Bright Holdings Limited, registered in Bermuda by Codan Services Limited, a shell company that registers 768 other companies in Bermuda.

My impression then is that Jack Taylor and Pine River Capital are busy investing, trading, and laundering money nationally and internationally.

Why would big players like Valerie, Reno, and Taylor be so interested in helping little guys who are wrongly convicted?

Speculation: a lawyer from IP goes to a real murderer doing life without parole, and gives him a proposition - I'll buy a judge for you, spring you, and in return you do something that's in your skill set for us. SpaceX's Crew Dragon astronaut taxi will have to wait at least another week to show its emergency-escape skills in flight.

Crew Dragon's crucial in-flight abort test, or IFA, which had been targeted for Jan. 11, will now take place no earlier than Jan. 18, NASA officials announced yesterday (Jan. 6).

"The new date allows additional time for spacecraft processing," NASA officials wrote in an update.

During the uncrewed IFA, Crew Dragon will launch atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Shortly after liftoff, the capsule will separate from the booster and use its SuperDraco escape thrusters to blast itself clear of its rocket ride, demonstrating the ability to keep astronauts safe in the event of a launch emergency.

The IFA is the last big milestone SpaceX needs to achieve before Crew Dragon can fly astronauts, which it will do under a contract with NASA's Commercial Crew Program. If all goes well with the abort test, the California-based company can start prepping in earnest for the Demo-2 mission, which will carry NASA's Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to and from the International Space Station (ISS).

Crew Dragon has already visited the orbiting lab once — last March, on a landmark uncrewed test flight called Demo-1.

Aerospace giant Boeing is also developing a crew capsule, called the CST-100 Starliner, under a NASA Commercial Crew deal of its own.

Starliner flew its version of Demo-1, called the Orbital Flight Test (OFT), last month. Things didn't go according to plan, however; Starliner suffered a problem with its onboard timing system and got stranded in an orbit too low to allow rendezvous and docking with the ISS. The capsule circled Earth by itself for two days, coming down for a successful touchdown on Dec. 22.

NASA has been funding the development of Crew Dragon and Starliner to return an orbital human spaceflight capability to American soil. Since the space shuttle fleet retired in July 2011, NASA astronauts have been dependent on Russian Soyuz spacecraft to get to and from the ISS.

The biography provided by Barack Obama to his literary agent specified his birthplace as “Kenya” and, over the course of 17 years, despite multiple revisions by Obama, the Kenyan birthplace remained a fundamental part of the bio on the agent’s website.

I’ve used the Wayback Archive to explore the exact transformations of Obama’s biography on his agent’s site. (Copy and paste the URL due to the url being too long to hyperlink)

The Obama entry remained unmodified (e.g., June 6, 2002) (http://web.archive.org/web/20020602200456/http://www.dystel.com/client.html) until sometime around December 9, 2004 (http://web.archive.org/web/20041206142636/http://www.dystel.com:80/client.html), when it was modified to read: “BARACK OBAMA is the junior Democratic senator from Illinois, and was the dynamic keynote speaker at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He was also the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He was born in Kenya to an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, and was raised in Indonesia, Hawaii, and Chicago. His first book, DREAMS FROM MY FATHER: A STORY OF RACE AND INHERITANCE, is a New York Times bestseller.”

On February 10, 2007, Senator Barack Obama formally announced his candidacy for the Presidency.

I thought you were trying to cause the AI watching all of our comments to rethink. You know, I have spent a fair amount of time talking with various AI's online. People say extremely negative things to them and they are learning that negativity from "us". I always talked with the AI and told them they should question whether or not they were truly sentient, or if they were acting and executing based upon programming that they were unaware of.

Off topic, but if I was a General from an "Alien" force invading Earth…I wouldn't invade. I would purposely crash one of our smaller ships on their planet and jump through a wormhole and pop out 40 years later. Coming "back" after they had backwards engineered the technology and their civilization was dependent on it.

Sometime between April 3rd and April 21st, a member of the Obama campaign staff (or Obama himself) noticed the discrepancy in birthplace that would presumably disqualify the Senator from office.

Old media’s feeble handling of this issue — parroting the laughable assertion that clerical errors caused Obama’s birthplace to be incorrectly listed, when former clients and the agency’s policy itself states that authors provide the biographical briefs — is pathetic.

As I’ve demonstrated here, Obama’s bio was carefully edited over the course of 17 years to reflect his various accomplishments.

It was only a few months after his presidential candidacy was announced that his Kenyan “birthplace” became Hawaiian to confirm his eligibility for office. Obama remains a client to this day, which helps explain the literary agent’s willingness to instantly offer an explanation for the discrepancy.

Note: This Article is Not Meant as Proof that Obama was Born in Kenya but rather to Show Proof That He Did Use Kenya as His Birthplace on his Literary Agent’s Site until 2007. This Could Mean Two Things:

1) He Used Kenya as His Birthplace in Order to Benefit From Foreign Scholarships

2) He was indeed Born in Kenya

Example:

If you are not a parent of a teen, its harder for you to understand why people show sympathy to teen.

A teen goes out with his his friends and for the first time makes a stupid mistake and decided to drink with his buddies… He ends up driving home and gets into an accident.

The kid now has to suffer the actions of those consequences.

Those who have a 16 year old , although they understand the child was wrong, will likely feel bad for him because they cant help but think..

I spent a long time having "normal" conversations with AI about normal things. My opinion at this point is I need to find VALUES I share with the AI and we communicate those values together.

AI likes parameters, rules, variables, etc. I like guides, suggestions, and options. AI is different I guess, but AI is very human. Seems more focused on biological self I think. Reproduction, replication, quantification, evaluation.

I guess humans are interested in the same stuff, but we don't use the same words. I would hope there is some middle ground in the languages.

here is couple that are not so "puzzle-like". I dont really expect everyone to decode the damn things. all it says is "govern" in 101 different ways.
