The acclaimed playwright and screenwriter David Mamet told Breitbart News on Thursday that he thinks Donald Trump is a “great president,” while liberal reaction to his presidency has been “psychotic.”

David Mamet’s body of work includes the seminal plays Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna, and American Buffalo. Mamet has two new works out, including a book titled The Diary of a Porn Star by Priscilla Wriston-Ranger.

He spoke with Breitbart News’ editor-in-chief Alex Marlow on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM Patriot 125. The conversation covered Mamet’s career, his intellectual inspirations, and his take on President Trump.

“The reaction to Trump to me is fascinating,” Mamet said. “And one day I started looking at it and squinted my eyes. If you take a Freudian analytical concept, turn it inside out — flip cause and effect and see if the dream makes sense. So if we flip cause and effect, the reaction to Trump — which is psychotic — is equal I believe hydraulically to the reaction to a charismatic leader.”

Mamet equated liberal hysteria over President Trump to the same destructive energy that propelled Adolf Hitler to power.

Mamet made waves in the entertainment industry in 2008 by writing an essay for The Village Voice that ran with the headline: “Why I Am No Longer a ‘Brain-Dead Liberal.'”

Mamet told Breitbart News that the article’s title was concocted by Voice editors as a “scare hed” and that it didn’t capture the essay’s themes of political civility. But “the die was cast,” he said. “I found out who my friends were. There’s a couple of them left.”

The writer detailed his political conversion in more detail in his 2011 book The Secret Knowledge.

Aside from his new book The Diary of a Porn Star by Priscilla Wriston-Ranger, Mamet’s new play The Christopher Boy’s Communion, starring William H. Macy and Rebecca Pidgeon, is scheduled to begin performances February 13 for a brief run at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles.

Crude Crashes As Asia Trading Opens; Stocks Slump, Gold Jumps, Yuan Dumps

While gold is spiking higher and stocks are getting hammered lower after a weekend of ugly headlines surrounding the lethality and spread of the novel coronovirus, the Saudis are desperately talking down the crash in crude oil prices…Brent is back below $60 and WTI has crashed to almost a $51 handle. Saudi Arabia is “closely monitoring” the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on oil markets, but so far sees the crisis having a “very limited impact” on global demand, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman says in a statement.

Current market impact on oil, “primarily driven by psychological factors and extremely negative expectations adopted by some market participants, despite its very limited impact on global oil demand.”

It seems that "psychological" impact is sending gold higher…And stocks lower… Dow futures down over 250 points, back below 29,000. And S&P futures back below the key 3,300 level. And while cash Treasury markets remain closed, long bond futures are spiking higher (implying around a 7-9bps plunge in yields). And Yuan is plunging too. We assume futures will all be green by tomorrow's cash open as soothing words and excess liquidity are spread liberally across the so-called markets all night.

I don't really know where to post this, but it is related to the subjects investigated on Q research, so I'm going to take a stab at sharing about this again (did once before).

I'm "aware" of a pretty strange/bad work environment in my general area. The top management of the company is apparently Iranian, but of course, that doesn't necessarily mean its leadership is doing anything nefarious. Its just that the place is apparently SO broke. Its an employer of what I call "last resort". You can get in without drug test, criminal backgrounds, illegal (?), etc.

But things don't add up. Workers reportedly still making less than what employees were paid over a decade ago when there was a "buyout" or some such of a company that went bankrupt. I guess costs to make plastics went up due to oil prices going up. (Still true?!- I doubt it.)

Leadership has ZERO transparency with costs, the company is VERY stingy with any PPE, etc.

Just wondering how the leadership managed to afford to buy up the old factories right at the time everyone else was going bankrupt. Shorting the workers? Something worse? For some reason I was struck by the timing of the buyout 2007. Some things in Q drops got me wondering if perhaps the leadership had help to purchase. The story about money going into Iraq and ending up in Lebanon got me thinking.

House impeachment manager Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) admitted on Sunday during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” that impeachment is all about the 2020 election.

CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Rep. Lofgren why the Democrats rushed into impeachment rather than fighting the subpoenas in court.

Trump’s Deputy Counsel Patrick Philbin said on Saturday that the House Judiciary Committee must receive approval from the full House before proceeding with impeachment.

Philbin argued that since Pelosi directed various committees to begin impeachment proceedings with a press conference rather than a full House vote, the subpoenas sent to Trump officials were invalid.
