Not exactly surprising, but late last night ABC released the transcript of the Bill Barr interview. A review of the transcript compared to the broadcast shows there was significant interview material left on the editing floor.

—Approximately two-thirds of the interview was never broadcast. Additionally, major sections of answers were completely cut out (chopped up/edited) after the question(s) was/were asked.

—ABC NEWS CHIEF JUSTICE CORRESPONDENT PIERRE THOMAS: General Barr, thank you for your time.

—ATTORNEY GENERAL BILL BARR: Thank you.

—THOMAS: This is the first time we’re hearing from you since the Roger Stone story erupted. At minimum, there appears to be an appearance problem. Trial prosecutors recommended 7 to 9 years on Monday evening. The president tweets at 1:48 AM Tuesday morning calling the recommendations – quote “horrible, unfair and a miscarriage of justice.”

—Then word comes out from DOJ headquarters Tuesday morning that the recommendations are too severe and suggests a lesser sentence is more appropriate. Four of the trial attorneys resigned from the case. One of them quitting the Justice Department altogether.

—What happened, sir, and what was your role?

BARR: Well, as you know, the Stone case was prosecuted while I was attorney general. And I supported it. I think it was established, he was convicted of obstructing Congress and witness tampering. And I thought that was a righteous prosecution. And I was happy that he was convicted.

—The issue then became the sentencing. A new U.S. attorney had just started in Washington D.C. and the week before the filing, he engaged in conversations with senior staff here who raised some questions about the sentencing because he was concerned that the so called guidelines, the sentencing guideline formula, was indicating a sentence between 7 and 9 years.

—Which, he felt and all of us immediately felt was very, very high and excessive in this case. And so he wanted to discuss that and over a number of days it became clear that the prosecution team wanted to recommend to the judge, and by the way, sentencing is a function for the judge and not the Department of Justice, we’re not the decision maker. But they wanted to advocate for a sentence that was, at the top, between 7 and 9 years.

—And, in those discussions here at the department, you know, I came to the view as my colleagues did that I wouldn’t support affirmatively advocating what I thought was an excessive sentence.

—THOMAS: You wanted to do that from the outset?

—BARR: Yes. And then point out different features of the case that she should consider if she wanted to go below the 7 to 9 years. And I won’t get into the wires on that, but there were a lot of, I think, very legitimate arguments to be raised, there are points to be raised there. But at the end of the day, we deferred to her. Or, and that was what the approach was, I thought, we were going to take.

—THOMAS: So the US attorney for the District of Columbia signed off on, his name is on the recommendation that went in there.

—BARR: Yeah.

—THOMAS: How did that happen?

—BARR: On Monday, he came by to briefly chat with me and say that the team very much wanted to recommend the 7-9 year to the judge. And, but he thought that there was a way of satisfying everybody and providing more

—THOMAS: So you were surprised?

—BARR: I was very surprised. And once I confirmed that that’s actually what we filed, I said that night, to my staff, that we had to get ready cause we had to do something in the morning to amend that and clarify what our position was.

—THOMAS: So you’re saying you have a problem with the tweets?

—BARR: Yes. Well, I have a problem with some of, some of the tweets. As I said at my confirmation hearing, I think the essential role of the Attorney General is to keep law enforcement, the criminal process sacrosanct to make sure there is no political interference in it. And I have done that and I will continue to do that.

—And I’m happy to say that, in fact the president has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case. However, to have public statements and tweets made about the department, about our people in the department, our men and women here, about cases pending in the department, and about judges before whom we have cases, make it impossible for me to do my job and to assure the courts and the prosecutors in the department that we’re doing our work with integrity.

A 2019 Judicial Watch FOIA Lawsuit resulted in the release of a May 16, 2017, memo written by then Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe. [Link Here] At the time of the FOIA release most people focused on Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein willingness to wear a wire to record the President; however, the memo content actually revealed much more.

 

There are three aspects to the McCabe memo that warrant attention: (1) Rosenstein’s willingness to wear a wire. (2) Evidence that Rosenstein took Mueller to the White House on May 16, 2017, as a set-up to interview Mueller’s pending target; and (3) the CURRENT redactions to the memo indicate CURRENT efforts by the CURRENT AG Bill Barr to protect the corrupt intent of Rod Rosenstein. While all three points are alarming; given recent events the last aspect is most concerning.

But I was with friends and we were watching each others’ backs. Often people SAY that but what does

it mean? It should mean that you never let your friend’s back out of sight but that usually isn’t how it

works. Three young ladies went out together with that promise. One wandered away to visit friends.

The second realized that their third friend was suddenly acting very strange, too drunk, and hanging all

over a complete stranger. She went to find the first friend but when they returned, their third friend

was gone—shuttled away by the drug rapist. Or consider the friends who noticed that one lady was

suddenly acting very sexual and weird. It was time to take her home but she wanted to go to the

bathroom, so they told her to go and then they would leave. By herself? Hey, you already realized

something was WRONG with her!! She headed toward the bathroom, alone, never to return to her

friends. She was walked out the back door by the drug rapist.

FDA Requests Market Withdrawal of Diet Drug Belviq Due to Cancer Risk

 

A clinical trial of the weight-loss drug Belviq (lorcaserin) shows an association with an increased risk of cancer, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is requesting that its maker withdraw the drug from the U.S. market.

Eisai Inc. has already "submitted a request to voluntarily withdraw the drug," Dr. Janet Woodcock, who directs the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, noted in a statement issued Thursday.

Now, "we're taking steps to notify the public," she said, adding that "our review of the full clinical trial results shows that the potential risk of cancer associated with the drug outweighs the benefit of treatment."

Woodcock said the FDA is advising that "patients should stop using the medication Belviq and Belviq XR [lorcaserin] and talk to their health care professionals about other treatment options for weight loss. Health care professionals should stop prescribing and dispensing Belviq and Belviq XR."

The agency first announced that Belviq might have links to cancer in a communication issued Jan 15.

At the time, the FDA said "we cannot conclude that lorcaserin contributes to the cancer risk," but "wanted to make the public aware of this potential risk. We are continuing to evaluate the clinical trial results and will communicate our final conclusions and recommendations when we have completed our review."

That review appears to have led to calls for the voluntary withdrawal of the medication.

Belviq increases feelings of fullness so that people eat less. It's available as a tablet (Belviq) and an extended-release tablet (Belviq XR).

According to the FDA, Belviq was first approved in 2012 as an add-on therapy to help aid weight loss, along with diet and exercise, in people who were obese or overweight.

Baum, Burroughs, and the Theosophy Connection

Baum was a practicing theosophist and a close friend of Edgar Rice Burroughs – at least close enough to recommend him in 1917 to membership in the Uplifters, a club of California businessman founded by Baum in 1914. It had been the practice of the Burroughs family to winter in California, usually starting in September, from at least the year 1913. Ed most likely met Baum during one of these extended periods* because by 1917 he felt that he knew him well enough to recommend his membership in the Uplifters, even though the Burroughs did not move to Tarzana until January 1919. That Ed was already a long-time a fan of the Oz series is proven from his early Minidoka, which includes a nod to Baum in the introduction as well as in the whimsical contents of this children’s story.

 

Perhaps the most thorough documentation of Baum’s connection with theosophy was given in David B. Parker’s "Oz: L. Frank Baum’s Theosophical Utopia," a paper delivered at the Kennesaw Academic forum, April 1996. In his study, Parker presents a brief history of the various critical treatments of Oz over the years and cites Baum’s friendly theosophical musings as the editor of the Aberdeen (South Dakota) Saturday Pioneer newspaper in 1890-91. An article by John Algeo, titled "A Notable Theosophist: L. Frank Baum" was published in the journal of the Theosophical Society in America announcing Baum and his wife’s admission into the membership of the Chicago branch of the Theosophical Society on September 4, 1892.

  • PENNSYLVANIA- On February 6th this year, former Pennsylvania Rep. Movita Johnson-Harrell began her sentence in jail after pleading guilty in January to charges related to stealing funds allocated for a community non-profit.

 

While prosecutors alleged that she stole more than half a million dollars from the community non-profit, she may only spend 3 months in jail for the crimes she plead guilty to.

 

53-year-old Johnson-Harrell never admitted in court the exact amount of money that was pilfered from Motivations Education & Consultation Associates. MECA was a non-profit that Johnson-Harrell had apparently helped establish to help people struggling with mental illness, addiction, and homelessness.

 

According to Attorney General Josh Shapiro, funds that Johnson-Harrell had dipped into from MECA weren’t exactly going toward helping the community:

 

“This Philadelphia community would have been in a better place had this former public official invested MECA’s money into the people who needed the care she promised.

 

Instead, the community received no help as Johnson-Harrell spent MECA money on fur coats, Porsche car payments and expensive vacations for herself.”

 

Formal charges were brought against Johnson-Harrell in December of last year, where she resigned from her elected position shortly thereafter.
