JFK AND THE 1963 ANTARCTIC NUCLEAR EXPLOSION

If you're an "Antarctic strangeness" follower like me, you'll be very interested and intrigued by this story shared by Mr. S.D. And this time the story does not involve a list of strange people going to visit the continent, but rather, that recurrent story that there were nuclear weapons tested over Antarctica in 1958. There are various versions of this story, and little corroboration. But if one takes the time to watch the little video accompanying the article, it appears that something strange was going on down there in the late 1950s and early 1960s:

Now, what I found intriguing about this story was the video itself, and more specifically, the photos of newspaper articles alleging that something very strange was going on down there, something so strange that it had scientists baffled, and that was that there appeared to have been a nuclear explosion either above the ground, or below it. As the articles indicate, at first the story was denied, then more or less affirmed, and President Kennedy ordered the Antarctic treaty's provisions to allow nations with bases there to inspect each other; the inference being that the Soviets had tested some sort of nuclear bomb. According to the video narrative accompanying the shots of the newspaper articles, the explosion occurred sometime in August, 1963, only months before President Kennedy's assassination. Indeed, the fact that the articles about this explosion occurred in the same context as the press coverage of President Kennedy's assassination makes one wonder if that was a subtle way of signaling some kind of connection between the two events.

What is equally intriguing, according to the video, is that the explosion, which was first denied, was later admitted, and the story came out in the days immediately following the President's murder.

So as one might imagine, this has my high octane speculation transmission once again running in overdrive, for there are several possibilities. One, which the short video itself mentions, is that the explosion did indeed occur, and since no fallout was detected, this is the reason to conclude it was either an upper atmospheric explosion, or one underground. As the video states, this may have been a secret test conducted by many nations, in conjunction with certain articles in the Antarctic treaty. That's certainly possible, though to my mind not very plausible. There would seem to be no good reason to keep such a test secret. Of course, this story has played into the version that such a test was conducted, only that it was a "test" with a target, namely, that Nazi base that was down there according to some.

But there is another and more disturbing possibility, one which, given all the other high strangeness we've seen concerning Antarctica lately, needs to be mentioned: what if it was a nuclear explosion, but not one made by any of the then nuclear powers (the USA, the USSR, Great Britain, or France)? If that were the case, then there would be very good reason to keep the whole thing secret.

In this respect, I return to a speculation I offered back when former Secretary of State John Kerry visited the continent during the 2016 presidential election, and during was was, for him, a globe-trotting diplomatic junket. We were told at the time that he was interested in seeing the evidence of that wonderfully vague "climate change" up close and personal, which at the time I thought was nonsense. I still think it's nonsense. For one thing, "climate change" doesn't produce perfectly rectilinear blocks of ice breaking off from the ice shelf. Thus, at the time, I suggested that perhaps Secretary Kerry was really in Antarctica to conduct diplomacy… with someone…

… and perhaps that "someone" had nuclear weapons back in 1963.

And then of course, there was Buzz Aldrin, and his tweet made shortly after he left the southern polar continent that what he had seen was pure evil.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting life for people and businesses statewide,” said State Controller Betty T. Yee, who serves as chair of FTB. “We are further extending tax filing deadlines for all Californians to July 15. Hopefully, this small measure of relief will help allow people to focus on their health and safety during these challenging times.”

To give taxpayers a deadline consistent with that of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) without the federal dollar limitations, FTB is following the federal relief described in Notice 2020-17 PDF Download . Since California conforms to the underlying code sections that grant tax postponements for emergencies, FTB is extending the relief to all California taxpayers. Some 60,000 California homeless could get coronavirus in coming weeks, governor says

"Over the next eight-week period, we have modeled that of the 108,000 unsheltered Californians that are out on the streets, if you had an attack rate of about 56%, you're looking at 60-plus thousand individuals that may have COVID-19," Newsom, a Democrat, said in a Facebook address to the state.

The governor said he had issued an executive order authorizing the distribution of an $100 million to cities and counties across California to blunt the impact of the respiratory illness on the homeless, and had acquired 1,300 trailers to use as temporary housing.

Another executive order directed that $50 million be used to convert motels and hotels into shelters where homeless people could be isolated if they caught the virus.

Newsom said he had spoken to the Trump administration about anchoring a U.S. Navy medical ship, the Mercy, off the Californian coast to house additional patients and to set up field hospitals in the state.

BoE's Bailey To Print Unlimited Money, Tells Short Sellers "Just Stop" Amid Covid-19 Chaos

BoE governor Andrew Bailey said on Wednesday that the central bank stands ready to pump unlimited amounts of money into the economy.

Speaking to journalists on a conference call, quoted by Financial Times, Bailey said the central bank is prepared to pump liquidity into markets via its new commercial paper facility. He said this would limit economic damage produced by the virus crisis.

He told members of the financial community that they must stop 'exploiting' vulnerable business by betting against them:

Baily said emergency loans have been available by the central bank to companies that have already fired employees. He told BBC News:

Things might be going from bad to worse for Elon Musk and his merry band of alternative energy cultists in China. While Musk is currently in the midst of criticism from the Chinese government related to a bait and switch he is pulling on vehicle hardware (while blaming the coronavirus), the Chinese government appears to be set on slashing additional alternative energy subsidies in 2020.

China is going to cut its budget for new solar power plants in half this year and plans on completely ending handouts for offshore wind farms, according to Caixin.

It is the latest in a string of moves by the Chinese government to cut support for renewable energy. The attitude has shifted in recent years as manufacturing costs have dropped. The government now seems focused on getting renewable energy to stand on its own.

On Tuesday, China's National Energy Administration (NEA) announced it had cut this year’s subsidies for new solar power projects by 50% to 1.5 billion yuan ($215.8 million). "Of the total, it has earmarked 1 billion yuan for large solar projects, which will be divvied out through auctions. The remainder will be used for residential solar systems," Caixin reports.

China is also doing away with subsidies for new offshore wind farms this year and is ending subsidies for new onshore projects in 20201.

Shi Jingli, a professor at a research institute under China’s top economic planner said: "Cutting subsidies for new renewable energy projects is a reasonable measure to allocate funds more wisely. Trump's support for the House measure cleared the way for a broad, bipartisan vote in the House at the end of last week.

The House later approved a set of changes to the legislation on Monday, clearing the path for the Senate to consider it, which scaled back their efforts to offer millions of Americans paid sick and family leave.

The revised legislation would still provide many workers with up to two weeks of paid sick leave if they are being tested or treated for coronavirus or have been diagnosed with it. Also eligible would be those who have been told by a doctor or government official to stay home because of exposure or symptoms.

Under the revised bill, however, those payments would be capped at $511 a day, roughly what someone making $133,000 earns annually. The original measure called for workers to receive their full pay but limited federal reimbursement to employers to that amount.

Workers with family members affected by coronavirus and those whose children's schools have closed would still receive up to two-thirds of their pay, though that benefit would now be limited to $200 a day.
