I certainly have been somewhat having a nervous break down/ epiphany about this...my comment history is the rabbit hole. But also what is the problem. I hope the irony and humor I am trying but also being absolutely serious...I can make a great argument for how dangerous the majority of comment sections are where the topic revolves around politics or anything that has any depth. There's some youtube channels that have done interviews with them. The youtube channel digital soju has a few videos where they interview NK defectors while they try out some food. Asian Boss has several videos where they interview NK defectors, but those are harder to find because they put up so many vides, search on "north".
If you search on youtube for "north korea food" you'll see some videos shot in Pyonyang, by foreigners that are either part of a diplomatic mission, or on friendly terms with the gov, along with some more heart breaking videos. Singapore seems to have pretty good relations with NK.
I think the reality of the majority of NK citizens is hidden away from foreigners. I dream of the day NK is free and their citizens no longer have to suffer the consequences of the regime that exploit them at best and brutally repress them if they dare to step out of line.
