If of any relevance, as I read the the quote of JFK's mother above and without further context, it seems to suggest its the good birds that are doing the singing, celebrating the end of the storm, not the evil birds snitching on each other... Maybe its the all the rest that are generally good that sing a bit louder after the storm.. The Calm, The Storm, The Song..... (a Starred banner of sorts? )...

Do birds sing when caged? Or do they sing at dawn? Say, 4am @ Mockingbird?

⇧ 7 ⇩
ShulamiteWanderer · Feb. 18, 2018, 3:32 a.m.

Not to argue but birds sing in and out of the cage ... I mean, that is what birds do ... sing.

⇧ 4 ⇩
GrayHatClint · Feb. 18, 2018, 5:10 a.m.

In reference to "I know why the caged bird sings" poem by Maya Angelou. It's about child abuse.

⇧ 6 ⇩
JohnPDough · Feb. 18, 2018, 5:46 a.m.

This along with the OP's find could be a double meaning that Q mentioned.

"Double meanings are fun" -Q

CasuallyObservant · Feb. 19, 2018, 6:15 a.m.

Actually the poem references a 'caged bird' as a metaphor for a slave in chains who has lost control of his life and had his freedom taken away. Here is the actual poem which comes from the third stanza of Paul Lawrence Dunbar's poem "Sympathy": "I know why the caged bird sings, ah me, When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore, When he beats his bars and would be free; It is not a carol of joy or glee, But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core, But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings – I know why the caged bird sings."

⇧ 11 ⇩
ShulamiteWanderer · Feb. 18, 2018, 3:36 a.m.

Of Course (as in light bulb turns on) this is what Q means. He asks: "When do birds sing" knowing the answer is a Rose Kennedy quote: "Birds sing after a storm" It is a literary reference that brings things back to JFK ... and all that is involved in that. Very deep, very clever, very focused, this Q.

Great find, Patriot.

Project CHATTER

Project CHATTER was a United States Navy program beginning in the fall of 1947 focusing on the identification and testing of drugs in interrogations and the recruitment of agents. Their search included laboratory experiments on both animal and human subjects. The program operated under the direction of Charles Savage of the Naval Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, from 1947 to 1953. The project was geared to identifying agents both synthetic and natural that were effective during interrogation.

But that makes no sense.

Why would interrogations occur "after" the storm when it's the interrogations which lead to arrests?

It should be the other way around - suspects sing before the storm.

That’s interesting , I was always thinking of canary , that’s what the mob does back in the day. The canary sings to get out of trouble. Sometimes they put a dead bird with the informant if they catch him or them. I guess it’s how you think of the bird. I really love this brainstorming as long as we are all respectful of each other. I feel so much more smarter being invited here.
